Review Paasquale M Woodfired Pizza - Rosanna

Go there for late lunch for my first time. Have had lovely food, quality is above average. Carbonara penne is the best of all!

An interesting venue. Able to host a large group at less than a week's notice. Adequate parking. reasonable food and fair prices. Friendly service.

We came here for my birthday dinner and I was really happy I chose this place. The pizza was amazing. Best Margarita I've had in a while. Most of the food ordered by our big group was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly. Kids had fun playing outside. Thanks for a lovely dinner.

Shocking. I remember coming here about 10 years ago and it was awesome but now it is run by different people and it absolutely terrible. Pizza and ingredients are of awful quality and the whole time there was a large group of 30+ people having an event for kids football, extremely loud and a man making a speech for over half an hour. Ordered oysters Kilpatrick, disgusting, not fresh at all, smelly and full of sand and shell pieces, was inedible. Won't ever, EVER be coming back again. Thankfully (upon complaining) we managed to not pay for the oysters.

Great tradition and different pizzas, have not tried the other food on offer, good general wine and beer selection. Easy takeaway on most food apps. Service is very friendly and not in your face. Plenty of space for large groups. Our choice before many many others.
Vince Bagusauskas
Service very very slow. 15 minutes before.our order was taken. Not like there was many people there. No orange juice. Pizza took 25 minutes to come out. The pumpkin pizza was unedible. I think they substituted frozen swede instead. Only saving grace was the spaghetti. Has gone down hill. Won't he back in a hurry. Edit: Had an upset gut all night and the runs this morning. I put this down to the spaghetti. I read the other comments on the reviews and noted how they had changed and substituted ingredients and the food tasted bad. This place used to be run by Italians. They should change the name now. Won't be back.

Ordered takeaway food, it tasted terrible. They even gave me a garden salad which consisted of a bunch of leaves, sauce and 3 slices of tomatoes. BTW this is not an authentic italian restaurant either, as it claims to be. All I saw there were indians, and not even the ones born here, straight outta homeland. Since when do indians cook authentic italian food. They don't. Pizzas looked ok as they were getting made, but the mains were shocking. My partner wouldnt even touch the pasta we ordered. My first and last time here for sure.

It has a good wood fire pizza, but my family didn't like the taste. We make some pizzas in our backyard and this was not what we expected from a woodfired pizza. But, it's clean and nice and beautiful with friendly staff. Parking is enough as well.

Since the new owners took over a few years ago (not Italian) what used to be a busy place with good quality pizzas has really gone down hill. We kept on going back occasionally remembering the good old days.<br/><br/>Last night was the last times we will go there:<br/><br/>A) Friday night at 6:30. The place had only customers at 2 other tables while we were there for the hour. It took 15 minutes for orders to be taken including what we would like to have to drink. Then 10 minutes later to be told the OJ had run out.<br/>B) 25 minutes for the pumpkin pizza to come out. It was not pumpkin, like Swede and tasted horrible. The missus has one slice and left it. I tried a piece to confirm her story and agreed. I mean so bad we had to find toothpaste in the car and brush our teeth after we left.<br/>While the spaghetti that I had was fine, I ended overnight getting the runs.<br/>C) Fairly certain they charged us for a large pizza wheras we ordered a small.<br/>D) Heard one of the other tables also complain that their order had not come out.<br/><br/>Be warned.<br/>

Disappointed is an understatement. 1/3 pizzas was ok. The pizza that was ok had a hair in the last slice :-( Have uploaded a pic of one of them, it was barely edible. The crust was hard and dry.

No photo taken at the restaurant on the hill. We got there quite late on a Thursday evening and we were a little apprehensive about entering a completely empty establishment. The guy who greeted us was friendly and we looked over the menu for a while before deciding. We got the calamari and garlic bread for entree. The calamari was nice. We were a little full after that so we ordered a main to share, a Sicilian pasta. I wasn’t surprised when our pasta came out drenched in sauce. Too much sauce. I didn’t enjoy it and couldn’t eat it. The pasta should be the star of your dish. This is a large space which could do really well with a makeover, outside signage (we nearly missed it) and some homemade pasta with simple sauces.

Worst pizzas we have ever bought. Next to no toppings and mostly cheese. A whole mexican pizza had only 4 pieces of salami. Another we bought was missing advertised toppings. Rang to notify the restaurant of their mistakes and poor quality and instead of an apology they argued with us. Our famiky have visites this restaurant for years, but with this quality and servicw we Will never go back.

If I need a pizza I wouldn't hesitate to stop past. The standard of food generally is okay, but nothing extravagant. If it gets busy, especially with large groups, you might be waiting a while.

Very very ordinary. This place used to be good. Ordered my favorites take away tonight and the pollo sauce had far too much garlic and pepper. It went straight in the bin. Carbonara sauce was supposed to have spring onions as per the menu but instead have undercooked brown onion all through it. Not very nice but was slightly better than the other pasta sauce. Whats happened in the kitchen?

Pretty ordinary fare. Ordered pizza for home delivery. The pizza base was burnt and bitter. The garlic bread was all soggy. Looked like they are not equipped very well for home delivery. Maybe dine-in is better. But, won't be going anywhere near this joint after this.
Liza
Fantastic child friendly restaurant. They bend over backwards to make sure my kids are content and entertained. Lovely food. Great service. A regular spot for our family.

Wow this place has taken a dive. Must be new owners. Burnt food. Cheap frozen ingredients. Never again. Used to be a top place to eat but not any longer
Dibs
Very disappointing, pizzas were average at best, soggy and burnt. This place has gone downhill at a rate of knots. Won't be going back, much better local options
Jit
Imagine. Just imagine a country so free that a 'restaurant' such as this is allowed to operate. Over 2 hours for a same suburb pizza delivery? I could've built a pizza oven and taken a short pizza making course in the time it took to deliver. When we queried the order we were met with excuses and lies. All this would be much more tolerable if the pizzas themselves weren't so terrible. Rubbery base, bland and scarce toppings. High prices too. If a fair market is based on Quality, Price and Service then enough said. I'll vote with my wallet thank-you. Pasquale won't be seeing another lira from us.
Nellieflo
Waited 2.5 hours for pizza delivery - not impressed. There was no apology when i called the restaurant, instead i was advised to perhaps pick up the pizza! Really poor service and no gesture of a complimentary item for the inconvenience. <br/>Give this one a miss.
Duty Manager
This place used to be our place to go for takeaway pizza however it has really gone downhill. I have only been recently on quiet weeknights so the service has been fine but the food quality is pretty average. Not even sticking to the italian classics like pasta or pizza guarantees a good meal. I probably won't go back.
Kaushini
Awesome pizza place especially in my local area. Serving size is decent and staff are always friendly.<br/>Highlight as always for me is dessert: Nutella Sfilatino

Ordered pizza via Zomato. When the pizza finally arrived the flavour was good (pumpkin pizza) but the crust was on the chewy side unlike most wood fired pizzas. The pizza was almost 15 minutes late and even though it says on the menu free delivery over $20 we were charged for delivery which is somewhat confusing.
Sarah
Found it to be a nice casual dinner. Staff were nice, in particular the waitress with the multi coloured hair. I agree with the other reviews, $40 is not enough for 2 people though. Will come back again next time I want a relaxing meal.
Clarisse
Had a good meal there. Decent sized meals. Pizzas are definitely the way to go. Had a nice chat with the manager who was great with my nephews, they were really accommodating to kids which was appreciated.
Dane
Really really disappointing. The service is horrible. They are dreaming saying $40 will feed two people it's actually overpriced for what it is. It should be an upmarket la porchetta being an Italian family own business but it's a hell of a lot worse than la porchetta. The food is very average. We used to go there years ago and it was good. We keep going back hoping it's improved. It definitely hasn't. The young ladies that serve there are extremely rude (the last 2-3 times we have been there). I last went on a Friday night we ordered soup and a pizza each and a couple of drinks Ended up being $92 for 2 people. The first 2 things I asked for on the menu they came back and said they didn't have them. Minestrone and oysters which is pretty poor for a Friday night.
Gertie
Very very disappointing. This place has new owners. It was going downhill when the previous owners had it, but it is now even worse. We ordered 3 pizzas & they were all very bland, and base was not fresh. Woodfire Pizza bases should be made fresh, but these clearly weren't. I find it amusing that an Italian Woodfire Pizza & Pasta Restaurant can be run by Indians. They should stick to cooking curries. Will never order from here again. Sorry guys.

Gross. Horrible service

The wosrt dinner of my life!. Pasquale M Italian Restaurant in Rosanna Rd Rosanna, was owned by a man from Vibo Valentia in Calabria, Italy. The food was excellent. Last night my wife and I invited another couple to join us for dinner at the above mentioned Restaurant. We ordered two Calzoni one with seafood and the other with Prosciutto. I ordered a Risotto marinara and the forth guest a Calabrese Salad. The filling of the Calzoni was still frozen, whilst the outside was burnet. The Calabrese salad was made of ten slices of tomatoes with bocconcini topping. My Risotto was a mix of heavy dark sauce with two prawns, two Clams and three raw mussels. We complained paid part of the bill and left the place in disgust. The reason is that the new owners are Indians and they have no idea how to cook Italian meals. We went home to cook a decent meal. NEVER AGAIN IN THAT S..T HOLE.

Just Fantastic. Had a great saturday night there, rapid service and delicious food is peculiarity of this place. Real value for money. Would like to go back again.

Jason. Last time i been to pasquale was last Sunday, when I was told by one of staff about new people taken over this restaurant.but menu was same and food was same toothful.i was welcomed by staff with drawn out cordiality, and we had delightful evening there.everytime I leave this place,it forces me to pull in again.

Very disappointing. Ordered takeaway last night. The person who answered the phone with a thick Indian accent struggled to relay the restaurant name asked me to hold and put the phone down .For 45 seconds it was a barrage of loud yelling in Indian among staff in the kitchen. Finally another person with a strong accent took my order. When I asked how much it was he was struggling for the answer. Pizzas in the past have been ok from here but there must be someone else making the pizzas. Dough was very chewy my jaw was hurting by the end. I ordered a Mexican which was instead a cheese and onion pizza that's all I could taste. No green capsicum at all no Chilli. I ordered the Nutella pizza which now has strawberry milkshake syrup poured over it im assuming to save on strawberries cause there was ONE strawberry for the whole pizza.nutella was sweet enough but the sugar syrup was too much. Delivery was quick food was poor.

If I had a Boss that spoke to me that way.... While the wait staff were considerate with excellent service, the new owner has left much to be desired in the running of the restaurant.<br/>Our meals were late and much to the annoyance of the table next to ours so was theirs.<br/>The food was alright at best but not something I would return for.<br/>The new owner clearly hasn't run a business before by the way he spoke to our waitress, well within hearing range of the front row of tables.<br/>As someone who has worked in the industry, it is well known that the first rule of management is to never talk down to or yell at an employee in front of customers. We had been trying to gain the attention of a waitress for almost ten minutes before a young girl came to help us, only to be treated disgracefully by her employers for her "Inattentive actions"<br/>(I watched her for someone time after that; and if anything she was quite good and picking up after where some of the other waitresses that had left tables full of dishes.)

Absolutely amazing!. The only thing better than the food was the amazing service. Everything was such good value for money, the meals were delicious and the wait-staff were so attentive and kind. Will definitely be coming back!

Delicious!. Beautiful food, the best pizza I have had in a long time, tasty and fresh highly recommend the Rosanna. Very generous portions real value for money! Flawless service and friendly staff, can't wait to go back!

Great family value at Pasquale M.. Lovely staff and the food was very enjoyable! Good value for money. Service was great and loved the way the young waitress walked us to door as we left. Great family environment. We will be back! :)

Disappointed. My recent experience at Pasquale M was well below average. The table service was inadequate - we were served one glass of water which sufficed for a 'sip' and we're restocked an hour later, only upon request. Patrons who arrived long after us received their meals promptly as we waited an hour for a pasta and parmigiana. A pasta sauce advertising a 'symphony of seafood' left us disappointed with but three mussles and three prawns. The crumb on the parmigiana was soggy, like it had been frozen and defrosted, and the napoli sauce tasted like it was 'fresh' from a jar. I was once an advocate for Pasquale M, now I would more sooner frequent La Porchetta.

Bad management, worse food. While on a visit here recently I overheard the owner abusing one of the waitresses about a mistake with an order, to the point where she broke down and cried. I later heard hushed whispers that the waitress hadn't actually made the mistake but it was the owner. To top it off the risotto was crunchy! the pizza sauce was really acidic and the table parmesan was hard and dark in colour like it had been sitting there for weeks.

Best pizza in melbourne!!!. Wood fire pizza at its best !!!!! highly recommended !!!!

Pizza was fantastic. Loved the service. Friendly and efficient. Definitely willl come back again.

Tips don't go to staff..... Why?. The only place I know that does not pass the tips to the staff. The tips supposedly fund the Christmas party.

We come here often and the service/wait staff is always good. On weekends we have learnt to dine early (with kids it is easier anyway) as we have on occasion found the quality of food sometimes declines and there can be long waits when it is very busy. Good menu tho, something for everyone! Good local pizza restaurant!

Came into pasquale m for dinner a couple of nights ago. Fantastic food and great service! The waitresses were very friendly. I had the special pasta with prawns and sausage and my partner had a pizza! Left very satisfied, will definitely be returning.

Favorite resturaunt the food is amazing, very friendly staff always fantastic and quick.

Awesome service. Good food at reasonable prices but what made my experience great was the wonderful wait staff. They looked after us well and everything was great. Fantastic local restaurant. Thanks again
Red Rabbit
Not a great dining experience. Pizzas were salty with doughy bases and garlic bread was heavy and hard going. In fact, the pizzas seemed so salty that we all drank loads of water when we got home.<br/>The service wasn't great either. When we asked for a couple of extra minutes to decide, the waitress didn't come back for ages. Then at the other end of the scale, we were asked if our meal was OK every couple of minutes by a passing waitress once the food was served.<br/>Finally, the noise in the restaurant was quite bad. It might be a family restaurant, but there must have been something about the building that accentuated the noise levels. It was a busy Saturday evening, but it just seemed incredibly loud.
Joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo
Amusingly bad. I'm amazed to drive past and see this place continually packed on weekends, because the food is bad and the atmosphere is a combination of shouting kids and having Australia's Funniest Home Videos playing on the big screen behind you.<br/><br/>In general, this is counter meal food, but at twice the price. Actually, I've probably eaten better at La Porchetta. My calzone seemed to be made of an entire block of cheese with some frozen seafood marinara, I think my arteries are still recovering from the cheese overdose. <br/>The highlight of the evening was my friend's side of chips being arranged like a Jenga tower, the chef was obviously aiming for a Michelin star with that level of presentation.<br/>Avoid, unless you excessively like cheese, and have numerous active children.

I came with afew friends for dinner last Saturday. Restaurant was full. I was a little worried because we have waited awhile for meals in the past. We chose meals off the specials board which were pretty good. Staff were friendly and attentative. Not sure if there is new management but we all noticed a difference in the restaurant. Considering it was a full house we got our meals in a good time. we left happy. We will return.
Diner
Don't go there!. It's a pizzeria with a noisy family friendly atmosphere. Great variety of pizzas but still they're all the same. Some of the main dishes are less than what is expected: the stuffed calamari consist mainly of rice and are cut in thin slices so that it's more like a risotto than "stuffed calamari". Food is barely warm. Staff are pleasant ....but only if it's a big order .....with alcohol.<br/><br/>Stay away from "ring up" takeaway dishes: pizza and calamari. Pizza dough is of a bland "supermarket quality" and the topping is mainly a thick layer of mozzarella. Calamari are tough with coating virtually falling off and the chips are barely thawed and mushy.<br/><br/>People are not gullible fools who will eat garbage and shortcuts always equate to loss of custom as I will never go back.
Steffani Basilone
Great food and fabulous service! The girls always go out of their way to accommodate and the food never disappoints! Some great new additions to the menu as well!!!
Food
Came here, had a nice meal. Then watched a chef drop an entire pizza face down on the floor to then proceed to pick it up and place it in a take away box to be served to customers. Will never dine here again.

Love it. Ordered a takeaway Volcano (pizza) WOW. What a meal. One of the better pizzas I have eaten. Excellent flavour and so filling. Yeah you pay a little more than a normal restaurant but WELL WORTH IT. <br/><br/>Will order again and will dine in soon.
Loz Camm
TERRIBLE! He brings shame to italian people everywhere. Went there for dinner 1 week ago (for the last time). We started with pizza to share - very average. My friend ordered steak.apparently rare means to cook the meat till its as stiff as a piece of cutlery! The salad on the side had mould. Chips were super soggy.<br/>I ordered a chicken parma. Classic dish. Hard to make it wrong. Pasquale managed to screw it up with flying colours! My parma arrived with no ham, little to no cheese and cold sauce, mould on the salad again and soggy chips. I sent it back. The next one I recieved was the same parma, with ham, then tomato paste, an extreme amount with cheese on half of the chicken. The salad was still mouldy chips could be turned to mash by this time. I didnt eat it. We were the only people in the restaurant and when I sat my untouched plate on the table next to me the 2 waitresses did not even notice. The chef making our mains was infact pasquale himself! His indian pizza maker did a better job. without doubt we both went home disgusted and still hungry! You would have to be stupid to return to his restaurant. Theres a reason why on a friday night, we were the only customers!

Great local for pizza!. Not going to win three hats, but every suburb needs a Pasquale M.<br/>Hits the spot for takeaway pizza!
AJ
Expected better. Pasquale M I believe had a restaurant in Lyon st. Much better than this one. Maybe had an off night but the pasta was ordinary and the pizza was so so.<br/>Will give it another try for old times sake.

Went here on a first date. They stayed open specially for us. The food is wonderful, service always friendly. Have returned many times. i recommend the nutella pizza.

Best Place For Miles!!. The most amazing and delicious gourmet pizzas for MILES!! The price and taste cant be beat!! Great food and amazing service!! Highly recommended for anyone, whether you're in a big group or wanting something a little more intimate.
Ellie
Just had a wonderful dinner at Pasquale M. The pizza was just has good as any u can get from any Carlton pizzeria even better. Like to thank the staff for looking after me and my family they made the kids feel so welcomed. Try the Nutella pizza for dessert it's the best. I just moved to the area so they're going to see me often
Dean
Never again. Worst italian food we have ever had.. Burnt chicken, under cooked pizza could not even get the chips right must of been cooked in old oil
Salie
Never Again. The atmosphere semt good so we gave it a try, but, never again. <br/>Too noisy and too slow for service. I ordered veel alla romana and my hubby ordered a simple pasta and we had the food over 45 mins later!! And the chef was so angry about something as he was shouting at one of staff which really made me uncomfortable.
Con
Returned in hopes that the food would be better in the new year only to be greeted with long waits for food and a obvious issue of not enough waitresses. I hope that they get back into the swing of things soon enough because a year ago this was the best place to eat for miles!<br/><br/><br/>-----20 Dec, 2012-----<br/><br/>Have been coming here off and on for years, love the food extremely. Though I've learnt that its better to not go when its really busy as the kitchen doesn't seem to be able to cope resulting in huge delays on meals. I love coming in for lunches where you get a bit of peace and quiet. Waitresses are lovely, particularly manager lisa and a suprisingly nice red head. Always recommend to friends and family.
Maria Papa
Disappointing. Extremely disappointed... Went after it was recommended to us as a good family restaurant. Kids pizza was raw and doughy, after they rushed it because it was initially forgotten. I ordered garlic prawns for $29. Sauce was OK but salty and rice was hard and cold. Obviously reheated... certainly not fresh. Definitely not a $29 meal.<br/> My husdand ordered pasta pescatore - two prawns and mashed fish which you had to go serching for and a couple of pipis. Very poor quality seafood... you cannot advertise " a symphony of fresh seafood" and receive rubbish like that!! <br/>The menu has a huge selection of items. I would recommend to cut it down and concentrate on producing quality fresh meals. Meals not fresh, but reheated, who knows how many times??? <br/>Will not go back...
Daniel
Gotten better. Havent been in a while and went my my gf to find out it's gotten better. Wait staff seem to have upped their game, are a lot better and the food is nice big servings. Still a bit pricey, but worth it.<br/><br/><br/>-----04 Nov, 2012-----<br/><br/>I have been a regular at pasquales for years and can't rave enough about the amazing pizzas, especially the nutella one. However recently I haven't been so much after seeing the wait staff who have always been amazing get treated badly by their superiors. The food is amazing though and I always recommend the meals here!

Great food & friendly staff. I'm a regular diner at Pasquale M and recommend both the food & staff. Large serves, plenty of variety and wood fired pizzas. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Cheers
Belluci
I've been dining at Pasquale M ever since it opened. I love the pizzas, especially the dough and the fact that they are woodfired. They have such a beautiful flavour, all ingredients are fresh and flavoursome. The nutella pizza is to die for. Make sure when you leave you take home a fresh load of bread (made on premises) it's addictive :)
Sepa
Average Italian. Noisy, suburban family restaurant with friendly but inefficent service given it was only half full. Our pizza and pasta was fine but prices are around 50% higher than those posted on their website. This used to be an average place but good value, now it's just average.
Scott
Fantastic pizzas and pastas at fantastic prices. We love this place!
Tiffany Box
Terrible terrible food! I left very disappointed with only a very small portion of my food eaten. Burnt pizza, over cooked pasta and not fresh chicken!! It was the worst meal I've had in a long time
ElizabethandBlaze
Generally good but not very consistent. pizzas are usually really well made and tasty but occassionally receive a pizza that is considerably not as nice as they usually make it.<br/>Potentially one of the best chocolate pizzas in town but yet again never consistent, sometimes it is deliciously covered in nutella with generous topping of strawberries but other times the dough is badly burnt with only a small amount of nutella and one strawberry. not sure how long i want to take the gamble.
Daniel
Best/ biggest antipasto I have ever had
Stomp
After driving past this place for years we gave it a try, mainly because we had a Entertainment book coupon. We now regularly go here. The food is of high quality and the children love the nutella pizza for dessert. It is quite a noisy place though. Usually need to book as well as it fills up fast.
MissMuesli
We eat Pasquale M pizzas regularly, most often take-away but occasionally dine in. The wood fired pizza dough is lovely and thin (no oily puddle left in the box) and the toppings are varied and generous. My favourite is the Al Salmone topped with smoked salmon, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, Spanish onions, capers and rocket....yum (and a healthy option)! You must try the Sfilatino dessert pizza...the nutella and fresh strawberry filled pastry is warm, sweet and a deliciously naughty treat!!!
Wocksie
Great woodfired pizzas and calzones!. This is one of our regular (about 4-5 times a year) places for dinner that we have been going to for years. The woodfired pizzas and calzones are delicious. The place is not pretentious and e.g. does not try to create the modern, minimalists topped pizzas you get in places like Pizza Espresso (although undoubtedly also lovely). The pizzas are generously topped (or filled) with combinations of ingredients that work together. <br/>The service is generally fine, although some of the younger staff (that appears to be changing more regularly than one would hope for) can be less attentive than the longer serving people who are great. <br/>The place can be a bit noisy due to large groups and families being present in combination with its acoustics, but I am personally just glad that they are that busy and manage to survive. The quality and taste of the pizzas are simply great for the price you pay. <br/>PS I strayed from the pizza a few times and had pasta instead. Although fine to eat, they do not match the quality of the pizza to be honest so I'm sticking with the 'Calzone Rosanna' from now on.
Nae Danielle
Service somewhat lacking, very loud atmosphere. Besides that, nice restaurant, very family oriented. Wide variety of food on the menu, tasty, but portion sizes are massive.
Hubba
Family Orientated. Pasquale M serves nice traditional Italian food with a large variety of pizzas to choose from too.<br/>The desert pizzas are worth trying for those who like sweet food. My only issue with this place is that it is very noisy and attracts a lot of families so if you looking for something a little on the quiet side or a venue that is a bit more funky then this is not for you otherwise enjoy a good traditional Italian.
