Great location with stunning views and good food. Went for a function with a set menu and everything was good. Fresh oysters, the beef and squid ink pasta we had was delicious. I would’ve given more stars but the beer and cocktail menu is limited. Only 3 tap beers offered on the day.
I am not a fine diner by any stretch but I thoroughly enjoyed each dish - especially the steak and oysters
The vibe was absolutely perfect for Valentines Day - very romance, I like
Luckily we got a seat indoors; the people outside were really battling the wind!
Such an amazing location for happy hours! Good food, lovely wine, wonderful view, amazing customer service, what else could you ask for?
Great spot to enjoy Sydney Harbour. Sitting right on the water amongst yachts and boats and the occasional sea plane. Food and service was good, can be a tad noisy.
We took couple of friends here to celebrate their birthday and even though weather wasn't perfect we still had an amazing time. Food was delicious and we were so full! We chose to get $35 bunch set. You do have to pay deposit which is non-refundable but they are happy to accommodate any changes to the booking. Empire lounge is walking distance from the ferry which is available from Circular Quay.
The location, given its history as Sydney's first International Airport, is a big bonus (we missed a lot of that joy because it was in the evening) but there is still a touch of a humble exotic vibe that is warm & inviting, compared to the intimidation that radiates from its rival, Catalinas next door (where you go merely to impress your "friends" on social media).
The Empire Lounge is a great venue with an intimacy lacking in many other restaurants and it never tries too hard. The decor is comfortable without being ostentatious and matches the building & location beautifully (but please, even if it's just with tea lights in an understated holder, replace the tacky LED artificial candles that sit on the tables - they are a fly in the ointment).
The service is attentive but relaxed & unobtrusive. A little more feedback offered when deliberating menu choices and information about the dish when serving, might add more to the service quotient but overall it's still positive.
And the food... it exceeded my expectations. The menu doesn't make promises it can't keep like many venues that aspire to fine dining. The chefs seem to be focused on doing what they do to the best of their ability and let the flavour combinations speak for themselves - coupled with great presentation, the results fall favorably on the "under promise, over deliver" side of the ledger.
Portion sizes are more than adequate but still allow for that last minute decision to have dessert.
Overall, it was a lovely evening - an extremely positive dining experience in a comfortable, welcoming venue with flavoursome, well presented & executed fare.
I will definitely dine at The Empire Lounge again.
Went there with the family over the weekend.best seafood platter. It was theatrical and fresh. The market fish was beautifully presented. Good menu and wine list. Service was prompt and good. Will def return
