Review Osho Indian Restaurant - Rosebud

Louise
Amazing High Quality Indian with great Customer Service I was dubious when we first passed this place and it wasn't that busy - but given their late closing times, we decided to opt for it. We are so so glad we did. The lady there was so friendly and lovely - it was raining outside and gorgeously warm and homely inside. They have a very wide selection of dishes and we ordered a few and found the cuts of meat were very nice and of high quality. The vegetable dishes were really well done with just the right amount of sauce etc. Highly recommend and will certainly come back. They could easily cater to 15+ people, so would also be ideal for friends.

Just walked out of the place and must say I was not happy. Ordered the butter chicken at $17 with no rice included. It came and tasted horrible. So sweet. No flavour other than that. Saffron rice which was extra was bland. Neither my partner nor I had more than one bite before stopping. Told the waiter to which he said have it as takeaway. This was not going to solve the horrible taste. Sad to say I wasted my time and $48 on an untraditional Indian meal.

Worst food ever in Melbourne. Everything was cooked in sugar it appeared! There were no spice flavour for which Indian food is famous! The gravy was same for every dish! Very very disappointing! Meat was not cooked properly! Would never recommend anyone to go ever to this restaurant! Most of the positive reviews are written by family and friends it seems!

Easily the worst Indian food in my life and possibly the worst restaurant food too! My wife is Indian and she thought the same. The meat tasted like it was boiled in water as it was almost flavourless. It wasn't even tender either. Sauce was weird and tasted old. It was nothing at all like madras should be as we couldn't even taste the mustard and coconut. We could have easily done better by buying a bottle of sauce from the supermarket.

No longer OSHO indian ... it's now PHO THAO a vietnamese restuarant. Nice food .. lovely service.

I read about the chef to the Hollywood stars and his Osho connections. So I was thrilled to find this nearby. I left message re take away or delivery. They did call me back eventually. I checked the menu and paid by visa over the phone quite polite on the phone. Take away ready in 10 mins. I was shocked actually but thought great! Started w veggie samosas. Mango chutney. Very hot, spicy, large, quite greasy pastry but ok flavour wise but chalky like from frozen pastry. The mango chutney was like a chutney dipping sauce and not like say the amazing chutney at Roti Boti in Hampton. 2 Stars for the starter. The raita was better, fresh. 1 Star for that and it was a suggested for me, I didn’t actually want it. I see now that the chutney being small and thin and bland needed help from the raita for flavour. The main was Lamb Passanda with order of saffron basmati rice and a garlic naan. I feel this dish was from frozen pre-made and not fresh. The lamb had a tacky texture though mostly tender and it tasted a bit old maybe from frozen. I’m thinking the sauce was a packet sauce. The saffron rice tasted frozen or stale. The garlic naan was from a packet and it again tasted slightly off. I can’t mark the main and extras as it wasn’t restaurant or even home quality. I could barely eat it. This is not a world class chef Indian restaurant. This is for tourists who are hungry and won’t be coming back. It may be their menu comment that their speciality is the seafood serves as a warning for all the rest. I nearly ordered seafood meal but didn’t. They need chef Gordon Ramsay to inspire them to do the right thing by their customers, it’s just kinda fake.

Wonderful food and great service. We dined here with the family and enjoyed four amazing dishes. All were supburb. Thank you for a wonderful night. We will definitely be back.

Presentation was good, serene osho ambience..., food was acceptable - wife liked the curry (I prefer stronger flavours - vindaloo was barely hot, eggplant masala plain) but the meat was dry-ish and not tender; garlic naan had a very mild garlic flavour... Mushroom rice was nice.

We saw that the internet detail said the restaurant was open from 3pm to 11pm yesterday (Thursday), but when we arrived to have our evening meal there from 6.30pm onwards, the restaurant was NOT open - no lights and the door was not openable. This has happened to us twice before in the last 18 months. This is VERY NEGATIVE, and we won't be trying to attend this place ever again.

This is very close to home but we've never thought to come in, we are so glad we did! Simple on the outside but it is very nice place on the inside!
Delicious vegetarian meal.. mouth watering! Just amazing flavours. Great service, so nice to be looked after with traditional and proper service at a restaurant. We visited about two weeks ago. Will definetly visit again.

Wonderful Indian food 100 kms away from Melbourne... Tried veg stuff and every dish was a ripper.. couple of my friends took non vegetarian dishes and they said it did rejuvenate their spice buds!

We would definitely visit this place whenever v crave for Indian food and suggest everyone to do visit the place.

Pathetic and horrible food.. it's not even 20% of an Indian food.. no spices except of chilli flakes.. don't recommend to anyone to eat there..

Worst Indian Restaurant you would want to try. We asked for 3 curries and told them to make as normal as you would. After waiting for almost 45-50 minutes our order came and i saw chillie flakes floating on top of our curry. Attached are the 3 images of our curries we ordered. It was no joke because we are not use to having so spicy food. Upon asking the staff who is super rude she replied that this is not spicy at all and infact our curries are very bland and we thought you guys would not like if we didn't add chillie flakes to make a little spicy. I told her HOW CAN YOU ASSUME AND WHY WOULD YOU ADD SO MUCH CHILLIE FLAKES. She was just so adamant that she got angry on us and told that we get 100s of customers and we don't want such customers.

Had a terrible experience here last night. My husband is Indian and I am used to Indian food. The butter chicken was so sweet and had no spice at all. It tasted like apricot chicken. Even the saffron rice lacked delicacy, quality and flavour. I understand they are catering for a different demographic here but Indian food is exquisite when authentic and this place just doesn't cut it.

Soooooooooo delicious!! Every time I head to the Hot springs, my friends and I go to Osho afterwards and seriously, it completes the nurture fix for the weekend! The food is Bliss! And the service is exceptional! Warm, friendly, prompt service every time. The butter sauce is to die for! And the samosas, soooo good! Thanks Osho :) Also the exterior of the restaurant doesn't do the interior, food and service justice. So make sure you don't go past it!

Wanted to try a different Indian restaurant this year after the poor "mainly sauce/little meat" experience from the Indian Restaurant in Rye. Found Osho after reading the good reviews and I must agree, this is far superior. We had Rogan Josh (my favourite! Super tasty and not spicy), Beef Korma which was hot and full of meat, and Butter Chicken which was OK but lacked a bit of flavour. Topped off with 2x rice and 2x naan, it was a terrific meal for only $57. We will definitely be going back here. Recommended!

Consistent year in, year old. We only visit on the yearly holidays to Rosebud and always drop in for dinner. Prices are in line with other restaurants and the food is always top notch!

Wonderfully tasty food. Prawns were fresh and all of the meat was tender. More complex flavours than I've had at other Indian restaurants, and more variety e.g. lemon rice. Attentive, unfussy service (we ate in). A gem, we'll be back!

Nice looking and peaceful restaurant!
We'd like to go again for the Indian mango chicken, nice experience!
The chicken scewers nothing special (we had the best in Preston market) but decent as well with the service.
The chicken tikka masala wasn't the best as gave me the weird impression that the chicken was already cooked for a different dish and they decided to ace it in masala in order to avoid waists.
Good restaurant for sure!

Osho Indian ohhh shhhoo good!!!. I feel compelled to write a short review...first ever!...of our favorite Indian restaurant...we visit almost every time we head to the coast to our Peninsula beach house... It looks kind of ordinary from the front...would easily walk by thinking another average Indian joint...In quite a funny little cluster of suburban shops...(including the also very nice Thai Rosie)...once inside it is quite large & neat & orderly with loads of big framed photographs of Osho adorning the walls & in the background some Indian music playing...which l always like...and always a nice temperature inside...we can never go past the Goan Fish Curry...beautifully balanced flavors with tender rockling .... We don't eat other meats so cannot comment but all the veggie dishes are lovely...delicious paratha....you can bring your own wine too....we took my parents there tonight for dinner and it cost $105 for four....we took our own wine...my parents who are not Indian food fans were very impressed.... Highly recommend this place....if you are local it is a must...if you aren't...include it as a place to grab some delicious, inexpensive & authentic Indian food...been half a dozen times now & is always the bomb!...

Yummy!!. Best Indian on the peninsula! We go at least once a week, have never had a bad meal! So fresh and tasty!

Stopped for takeaway and be buggered if it wasn't the best Indian I've had in many years. The mushroom jalfrizi was amazing.
Michael Farrell
Our waitress could barely speak English and seemed put out whenever we asked a question. At the end if the night she over priced us too. The food was average at best.

Superb Indian Food. Not a lot of Indian food on the Peninsula, but this is by far the stand out Indian dining option.
Have found, apart from the food being excellent, the service and ambience are also very good.
Also, they catered brilliantly for a large group private night. All those who had their first experience at Osho were amazed at the quality and quantity of food. I know of only one other Indian dining experience that matches and that is at Cafe Saffron, Ivanhoe.
Special Delivery
3 thumbs up. Best Indian on the Peninsula.

Shocka. Went when it first opened and it was terrible gave them the benefit of the doubt it would have to be the very w o r s e indian I have ever eaten and believe I have eaten lots of. Sad when you are a local.Im beating the new Rye Indian will sort them out!

Yummy!!!. Very tasty food. We ordered 8 mains, 2 rices and naans was only about $100. Restaurant was clean and very modern despite outside old signage. Was quite busy too. We are vegan so all vegetarian friendly options are very good :)
Would definitely go back again and again
Pampet15
Pampet. A wonderful place to eat - wonderful meals, great atmosphere and great service. Reasonable prices and would recommend to anyone.
Also great takeaway meals.

Only option. Beautifully decorated restaurant, but just not worth the journey for standard indian fare. just a bit on the expensive side to pay for accompanying raita with the mixed tandoori grill, the rice is about the most expensive I have had at $5 and the wine list seems to consist of house label wines only.

Worst Indian restaurant I ever had in my life they charge even for the bad food . Naan breads are not even fresh expensive . But not even worth to spend . Real crap service it's better you even frozen Indian food from woolworths that will still better big rip off . Stigma at the name of Indian restaurant

This one is worth looking for. I recently visited Osho restaurant let me tell you this place is a hidden gem! By far the best Lamb Korma I have ever eaten! The vindaloo was also very impressive with the great flavour and tender beef.If you haven't been there I strongly suggest you do

Went in for a dinner @ 9:30pm and judging by the ambience decided to dine. An avg starter of paneer chilli was followed by even worse food and shocking customer service. The veg we asked for, veg korma, had huge chunk of potatoes, and was under-prepared. Shockingly we weren't even provided with new plates having had the starter and we ended up having only veg in our plate, and naan from the serving bowl itself. No glasses were provided for water either, and we used wine glasses for it!! If they don't have the desire to serve ppl late in the night, why have the restaurant open?
Damien
This is simply the best Indian cuisine I have tasted in Australia, and very reasonably priced.
The mango lassi was served in a wine glass with a red syrup striping the glass, and it was simply delicious!
The service was impeccable, with the chef himself assisting customers with their choice and chatting to patrons to explain how he created the dishes.
Comfortable seats, practical yet not cheap and nasty furnishings and traditional music playing very softly in the background, not pop garbage or radio.
Highly recommended for a 5 star experience at a 3 star budget. We will be back!

Good flavours. Chicken was a bit dry, but food was otherwise tasty. Better than average but not amazing.

Absolutely the best!!! Awesome food

Chicken was succulent and not over cooked. Lots of flavour and loved it how the chef came out to greet us. Nice dacore. Was a little awkward at the start when not many other customers were around.Amazing food though. You definitely won't go home disappointed.
