Review The Local Shed Cafe - Rouse Hill

Had a great Birthday celebration at The Local Shed cafe a couple of weeks ago. There were six of us - we ALL enjoyed our meals - even catering for low-carb options (no-bun burger) for standard menu items. Staff were very friendly and attentive and they were happy for us to bring our own birthday cake. Lovely local gem!

Been here for breakfast and tried their lunch menu the other day. So delicious and a decently sized meal. The chicken was still juicy and delicious - a bit hard to get off the skewer as it was completely stacked in chicken. Pity they don’t do dinner because the food is good. Dog friendly place and is a hidden gem in Rouse Hill. Would definitely recommend. Parking options aren’t amazing weekdays due to the construction site next door but not too bad on weekends.

That was a really good brunch. Had a good sized lunch food, great drinks option and coffee. A hidden gem this is, and I mean it.

Attended a function this afternoon and once again had a fantastic time. I have been to The Local Shed for many different events, lunches, and even just a quick coffee, it never disappoints. The staff and owners are always attentive and beyond polite could not recommend them enough and will be returning. The food is absolutely delicious, if you are in the area try it for yourself.

I hate posting bad reviews but I make an exception because what I had what this morning would have to be the worst dining service ever. Firstly when I go there I walked up to the counter to place my order, to which a young waiter was punching in an order, side eyed me but no hello and the older gentleman who happens to I believe be the owner and barista didn’t acknowledge me until he abruptly asked what I wanted. I then said my order large flat white with 1 sugar to which I was given a completely wrong coffee or doesn’t know what he is doing, but then rudely tells me 5 dollars. And then two make matters worse he tells me there you go , where do you want to sit and makes me carry my own beverage on a dirty grimy saucer to the table, where I just looked at him as if to say are you for real. As I left I actually showed the young girl the plate pointed out how disgusting it was and said my order wasn’t right clearly and the so called barista asked the girl the issue and said a blunt sorry and sighed but didn’t look at me. They really don’t know service and unsanitary crockery well that’s a health and safety hazard. If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!

I booked and hosted my baby shower here today and I couldn’t have been happier with how everything went 😊. I had 65 people for a brunch booking and everything was excellent! Booking in and organising all of the details was such a simple process and the manager was a pleasure to work with. The day went off without a hitch, everything was set up when we arrived and the food was delicious when it came out. They were able to accommodate the allergies and dietary requirements I had in attendance with no fuss at all and everyone has commented on how lovely the day was!

I wouldn't suggest this place. The location is great and staff were nice, but the food wasn't good and overly priced. We sat outside initially and moved inside as we just couldn't eat lunch with sooo many flies, but inside also there were quite a few flies. The spicy lamb my husband ordered wasn't spicy at all and tasted like plain minced lamb. The salad leaves looked old. We ruined our anniversary lunch, i should have got the hint when i saw very few people in there. Overall, wouldn't return.

This place has a gorgeous old world charm that is 2nd to none, and the food and service is amazing. So happy this hidden gem is around the corner. Highly recommend

Spent $90 on breakfast for just 3 people. After waiting over 45 mins for our food, it was pretty average with “the big breakfast” containing about a teaspoon of baked beans! And the hash brown dropped fat all down my arm!! We asked a waitress for a bottle of table water, waited 15 mins, asked the same waitress again, who blamed someone else for not getting it, apologised then still never brought the water!!! Cannot believe I just spent $90 and couldn’t even get a water? Terrible food, even worse service! First and last visit!!

The breakfast menu is limited and not many cheaper options. Even though they love the playground, I don't take my kids to the cafe because there are no good breakfast options for them on the kids' menu. A giant pancake with ice cream is not breakfast, it's too sugary, and they only eat a quarter of it so it's a waste of $10. Smaller, cheaper, healthier options would bring more kids in. This place has real potential to be great, because the food is very tasty, but unfortunately the menu is limited. I would come almost every day if the menu had a few cheaper breakfast options. Coffee is good.

We really enjoyed lunch at The Local Shed today. It was very windy outside, but the staff had no problem moving us inside when a table became available. The service was a little bit 'all over the place' but everyone was pleasant and helpful. The meals (haloumi burger and shed burger) were very good, and came out quickly even though they were quite busy. The pattie on the beef burger was really delicious, and the haloumi burger had amazing flavours. We will be very likely to return.

Today's Mother's Day set menu lunch was extremely disappointing. We were first seated at an uncovered trestle table (yes, trestle table) crammed in the corner right next to the toilet door where people were coming in and out of constantly and bumping our chairs. We requested to be moved to another table, which was a very uncomfortable picnic table (which my mum could not even reach the table top properly). So we moved for a third time to a marginally better table where we stayed for our meal and after 45 minutes we finally got our entree. The service was terrible and inattentive. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the wait or hassle, and no special effort was made for the occasion. For a Mother's Day lunch at $55 per head, this was just embarrassing.

This place has become our regular and favourite place. The atmosphere is great, the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. Nothing is a problem and the staff are always smiling. We will be visiting again very soon!

Second time we have eaten here. The waitress was a lovely genuine lady and the food was amazing. We had the onion rings and my such a big serve. Pork belly and Greek style chicken, yum yum. No room for dessert. Going back to try breakie. Would vote more stars if we could.

So my Dog and I popped into this place today... The Local Shed... for a coffee and a bit of work on my laptop. I must say the hospitality was outstanding... second to none in my opinion... Not only was it one of the best coffee's i have had in ages...the staff were so courteous. The chef snuck out the back and called me over and gave me a sausage so my dog would be happy and then proceeded to get her a bowl of water. The wait staff were very responsive to everyones needs even though they were very busy. Thanks to Ajay as well for making my stay at the local shed making me want to come back for more and bring my friends along.. A great spot for a business meeting too. Highly recommended. Five stars from me.. Well Done.. Victor Robertson at VictorMedia.. Food Critic and Marketing expert.

The food was nice but the service really needs work. I am pretty easy going but they completely forgot our table. We nearly walked out because we were sick of waiting for service that was never going to arrive. After 10 minutes of sitting down, without being given a menu I had to go ask for a menu at the counter. When I asked for a menu I mentioned that our table had been forgotten. After that there was another 10 minutes of no one approaching our table to take our order or ask if we wanted any drinks. We had to wave down someone to take the order. We asked for table water but this was also forgotten. As I said I enjoyed the food (ordered steak and the Greek marinated chicken) but the service was disappointing, especially as the lunch was my partner taking me out for my birthday.

Food was average at best. Not worth the expensive prices they are asking for .. burnt sausage and bacon. Eggs were ok. Location is the best thing going for it.

Friday night Tapas is the way to go. Food is amazing and the staff are great. They will go above and beyond to make sure your time is well spent. Very nice and relaxing vibe, great for parties or just a quick bite to eat. Will definately be going back.

The staff were excellent and very friendly and the food was well presented and tasted delicious. Definitely will recommend to all.

Brilliant! We went for an early Mother’s Day Breakfast (day before). We had never been before. The service was exceptional, so friendly, attentive and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The older gentlemen, I presume the owner was amazing! We will definitely be back! Thank you!

We have been there twice with family. Lovely food and ambiance. Service was fine and friendly. We enjoyed the live music Sunday afternoon. Have recommended it to friends.

We won’t be going back. Location is the only thing going for it. Meals were very underwhelming and very overpriced! Nearly got charged for the table next to us. If you want people to come back after Covid-19 and enjoy the food, wouldn’t you serve delicious meals?! Very disappointed. We were shocked.

Location is good but that's about it. We arrived before 11:30am but were not allowed to order breakfast. It was a Sunday and for breakfast to finish so early seems very odd, especially when the lunch menu is very limited. Speaking on the lunch menu, it was very overpriced. We ordered two wraps which ranged between $23-26 each and even though they included fries, normally wraps should not be more than $15 and the fries individually cost $7.5 so I do not understand why their prices are so expensive. The fries were hot but were very stale. It was difficult to signal staff and the food took a long time to bring out even though we were the only ones there. We were never told of all day menus (e.g toasties, which I would of happily ordered instead), there were forks and straws on the floor and the cutlery were dirty. Extend your breakfast menu hours and don't play favouritism with customers.

Great location. Have been here once before and loved it. Unfortunately not so much this time round. I popped into the cafe at 3pm (cafe apparently closes at 4pm) and all I was looking forward to was an afternoon coffee. I sat down outside just to talk to someone on the phone before I went to order. A staff member approaches me, while I was talking on the phone and rudely interrupts saying that the cafe is closing. I didn’t get the chance to say anything as he just walked away and I was still on the phone so I went back to the car to finish my conversation. As I was sitting
in the car (3:15pm) I saw three consumers approaching the cafe which was “closing”. Next thing I saw were the consumers sitting down at the cafe, enjoying their freshly made drinks. I was beyond disappointed that I had been turned away for no reason. I understand the cafe was closing in an hour, staff need to clean and do their end of the day jobs, I get that, but don’t serve other customers 10-15 minutes later if your planning on closing. Seems to me that we are playing favourites with regulars/locals...

I have really tried with this place. The coffee is good. The surroundings are lovely and quiet, with a playground nearby. I want it to be my "local", but it just doesn't cut it. The last straw was when I rang to check when the breakfast menu ends, because we felt like brunch after sleeping in on Sunday morning. They said "11:30am". Slightly annoyed that the breakfast menu ends at all, I managed to get there with my partner and kids at 11:23. Waitress says, after I mentioned we were there for breakfast: "My boss says no more breakfast orders." For starters, it is old hat to "end" a menu, rather than have an all-day one. Secondly, do you really want to turn down a customer who does not want the lunch menu? Who actually sits down for lunch at 11:30 on a Sunday? Why is it not difficult for other cafes to have brunch options all day, cook a couple of eggs and bacon or mash an avocado? I wanted breakfast, so I walked out with partner and two kids and went elsewhere. It's not walking distance to "elsewhere", which made it all the more annoying. I am disappointed that I won't be going back, unless I hear that the breakfast menu is extended to all day and the kids menu options improve.

The location is nice. Unfortunately, this is the only good thing about this cafe. We went here on a Sunday morning. Firstly, we had to wait 45 mins for the burgers. Then they brought out the wrong dish. Offered a quick apology and brought out the burgers. The chips were good. The beef patties were bland and undercooked. We ordered coffee and chai with the meal and the staff had completely forgotten about these. After reminding them again that we ordered drinks they finally brought them out. The chai was the worst I have tasted in Sydney. My friend mentioned his latte tasted like a milk shake. All in all this was one of the worst cafe experiences we have had and a complete waste of $50 spent. The staff are highly inexperienced. It seems that management has changed recently and the place is very disorganised. I would suggest the owners to take some time to train their staff or hire more experienced staff. It's a shame that the owners have failed this cafe given it's perfect location for a weekend brunch.

A cute little venue tucked away in the backstreets of Rouse Hill. My friend and I came on a Friday night and they were very understaffed. The poor waiters were running around constantly. We were told on numerous occasions that it might be a wait for our food and thanked for our patience. So other than the long wait, service was very friendly. We both ordered the Greek marinated chicken with a bowl of chips to share. The chips were delicious. Crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was maybe a bit too chargrilled for my liking but it was still tasty. It was soft and tender. It also came with the most delicious fresh pita bread. We received a very generous serving but I would have liked some tzatziki to eat it with. The menu looked delicious and I would be keen to come back and try the burgers.

Wow what a hidden little gem.

Tucked away in the middle of a residential development this place certainly delivered.

The staff were incredibly warm and friendly and the food was delicious.

This is a place I could and will come back to and work my way through the menu as every dish sounded just as delicious and the one before.

It was fairly reasonable priced approx $85 for 2 people (shared entree and shared Mezze main, 4 glasses wine and a coffee)

A bit disorganised. Went with four friends for lunch. Sorry but I am sure this place looks a little unloved with dead plants in planters. Ordered five serves of mezze plate but only four served, took about 40 minutes for the extra serve. Food very tasty but is off our list.

This place is amazing. The food is Middle Eastern/Mediterranean inspired. We came for breakfast and ordered the Lamb Tagine. It was a very generous serve and absolutely delicious. Our waiter was so friendly and made our experience that much better. We will be back again.

This beautiful cafe is located in a historic house in rouse hill surrounded by lovely grounds. The old owners moved to Annangrove and the new owners have now been here for 6 weeks. This place is very popular with the locals. They serve Vittoria coffee here and food is Morrocan / Mediterranean inspired... I highly recommend the Moroccan felafel with poached eggs and homemade mint yoghurt!

Been here for breakfast twice (had the eggs Benedict and salmon eggs on Turkish bread). The waiter staff are really nice and go out of their way to help. For example setting up a heater even if you are the only customers sitting outside.

The food has a nice balance between being aesthetically pleasing and filling. The eggs Benedict looks like a regular Benedict but instead of the yellow hollandaise sauce there is a soft red sauce which has a nice spice to it (consistent to Mezze's food speciality being Mediterranean).

Price is reasonable/marginally overpriced (in particular vs the nearby rouse hill town center)

Nicely situated and has some nice views/ambience.

Hidden away from the main road this is a real find! The waiting staff were really helpful and knowledgeable the food whilst not the fastest service was certainly worth waiting for, freshly cooked to order! Delicious although no room for desert!! Will be back to try one soon 😊

There’s a beautiful 1890’s homestead in the north-west of Sydney that’s home to popular Middle Eastern restaurant Mezeme. Having been for dinner with a friend last year (the desserts are impressive) I wanted to revisit and try the breakfast menu.

Good food but poor service. Went for breakfast on a sunday - had to sit inside as we hadnt made a booking. Unfortunately, much noisier inside! Food took a while but was ok - my baked mince and eggs was burnt on the bottom which meant you couldnt eat the bottom layer. Also a bit pricy for the serving size. And the coffees came to the table after the food! this is what annoyed me the most - coffees should be so much faster than 30-40 mins!

Overpriced, ordinary food. loud place to eat.. We ate here and was not impressed. the reasons were:

* the place was really loud and we had to shout for the whole time we had dinner.
* we waited 30 minutes for our meal.
* we ordered a well-done steak-they gave us a medium rare steak which was also dry. we would have sent it back but that would have meant that we'd wait in the noisy restaurant for another 30 minutes or so.

Middle eastern breakfast!. What a surprise and treat this place is! We came for breakfast but I recommend making a booking. All dishes our group ordered were delicious and the coffee was awesome. Highly recommended
