Service is quick & friendly, have been in for dinner on numerous occasions and have never had a bad meal. Each dish is full of so much flavour & good serving sizes.
I had a meal here last week upon recommendation from a friend. This was the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I had the butter chicken that sauce was the best!!! And had the best atmosphere and service. We were served by a very friendly Indian girl. She was suggesting dishes and smiling. Good job saffron!! Keep up the good work.
The food here is really good for a local Indian restaurant. Chicken korma and butter chicken as well as the lamb madras are all very good with the saffron rice and naan also being good. Roti is not as good as the naan so I'd say stick with naan. Can recommend to anyone in the area that wants good Indian food.
Best indian food in Australia with out a doubt, been to saffron on kellets many times always provided with great service and outstanding indian dishes. It says something when your 13 year old says i want to go to saffron for my birthday this past Monday 11/12/17 and we live over 30mins from saffron and pass many good indian restaurants. A big shout out to Jess for making our night absolutely special great service and Jess even remembered what the kids had for dessert the previous time. If you love your indian spice and flavours vist this place it will not disappoint.

Great hospitality and very helpful. Every customer seemed happy with their service. They seemed organised and had a good rhythm. Only 1 or 2 front house staff while we there over dinner service but they handled everything seamlessly.

I'll be honest and say I wasn't expecting anything great. I was just wanting to try somewhere different and after reading a few google & zomato reviews, this seemed one of the better options. Upon arriving, it seemed a lot more modern and even westernised (didn't expect that). I expected the food to match, meaning toned down a little to suite a wider palette.
Chicken Biriyani - One of the better ones I've had, and I've had a fair few! Oddly, I could tell as soon as I saw the rice grains, that they put love into this dish. They have used premium long grain rice here and the curry had plenty of time to cook right through. They were also generous with the amount and size of the chicken pieces. With the thick and tasty raita, it was a standout dish.
Lamb Rogan Josh - The lamb was so well cooked, it was tender and full of flavour from the gravy. Was very impressed by the balance of masala and also meat:gravy ratio, generous!
Tandoori Chicken - This one was average. Have had much better but also worse as well. The flavour was missing from inside but rather only on the outer. The chicken was on the dryer side than I prefer. Possibly just a once-off as all other dishes were far better.
Plain naan bread was perfect! So fresh and couldn't have been happier mopping up all the gravy along with the tasty & thick raita...yum!

It has a small dining area, enough for a handful of dinner dates and one larger group. It used darker tones including the lighting to create a more sophisticated setting than a casual family vibe. As you walk in, the front counter is a shared space that doubles up as the bar where drinks are prepared. I'm not a drinker, but the alcohol display looked more upmarket than your standard bottle of Crown Lager.
KID FRIENDLY: Not recommended, limited space and the setting is more intimate than family friendly. FYI, they have just the one booster chair.
Best curries! Great service. Would recommend saffron in Kellets to anyone. The take away family pack is great value and delicious! Always friendly staff when you go in too
Excellent service and food. Great range of veggies dishes most of which can be made gluten free and vegan. Very accommodating to our various dietary needs. We eat here regularly.
Great quality food! No reflux, no heartburn, no upset stomach, no aftertaste, no regrets at all. Spices are well balanced, portions are decent size. Everything was just right to our taste. The chef must have a magic touch plus a good sense of food. Highly recommend to all lovers of Indian.

Being from Malaysia, I have had Indian food all my life and I do really enjoy good Indian food. This was my first visit to this restaurant. I was taking mum out for a Friday lunch and she wanted to try the food at Saffron on Kelletts.
This smallish restaurant is well presented, clean and did not stain my clothing with curry aromas as has been my experience with many other Indian restaurants. Service was friendly and prompt.
I must admit that having patronised many other Indian restaurants within 15 km of Rowville, my expectations of this smallish restaurant wasn't very high. I ordered the combo plate lunch set menu which is a trio of beef, lentil and mixed veggie curries served with basmati rice and roti. Mum ordered goat curry (a favourite of hers) and roti. Presentation of the meal was simple but attractive.
We were both very pleasantly surprised with the meal. The food was full of flavour, fresh, beautifully cooked and de-li-cious!. It was a really delightful experience for both of us and was worth every cent I paid for the meal. Would I go back again for more? Most definitely!!!
So thrilled that Saffron on Kellets is at Rowville .. called in for an impromptu meal on Monday night, not sure if they would be open and was delighted to find out they trade 7 days a week! My friend and I both had their famous butter chicken .. kashmari rice and garlic naan bread .. The butter chicken was (as always) full of flavor and tasted amazing .. the chicken was tender and juicy and the rice had a fantastic mixture of dried fruits, nuts and a hint of cream... it made the whole meal totally scrumptious!
I have told lots of my friends that I consider this to be THE BEST Indian Restaurant in Melbourne... the flavors are amazing! ps .. the service is terrific too :-)
When only the best will do.. I was in food heaven after eating at this Indian restaurant, my partner and I love this place and would recommend it to anyone who loves Indian food. bon appetite.
Thoroughly enjoyed the good. Suggest one tries the samosas and lamb cutlets for entree and for mains try the chilli beef, lamb rogan josh and saag paneer. Will definitely be going back!
Excellent Indian restaurant in Rowville. About time there was a good Indian option local to Rowville. We have ordered take away from here twice now and becoming one of our regulars. Love the food, friendly staff and food has been ready to go when arrived. Cashew butter chicken is delicious and Naans are good. First time they through in poppadoms however gave us 1 naan instead of the 4 ordered. Second time around naans all accounted for however no complementary poppadoms. Therefore consistency would be the only constructive feedback I would give. Otherwise a happy customer! Will be seeing you guys again!
Had takeaway twice this week, food was fantastic. Chicken cashew dish was amazing, so was the lamb vindaloo. Food quality was outstanding and friendly staff. Great value for meals. Will return.
Had take away from here the other night - some of the best Indian we've ever had! Meat was tender and not fatty, naans were soft. A nice change from all the other take away shops in the area and worth the wait. Finally some quality food, we'll be back. Only thing I would recommend is preordering well ahead as it was quite busy on the weekend.

Nice food / Expensive. I ordered take away (to be delivered) from Saffron on Sunday 18th May for 6 people. The lady was very lovely and helpful over the phone. The food arrived after 45 minutes of placing the order.
The food was quite nice but for the price I expected much more. I ordered a Family Pack which was said to feed up to 4x people. The quantity of the dishes was fine however we received 1x very small pappadam which was shattered into tiny pieces. I understand this may have happened during delivery but I don't understand how 1x small pappadam would feed 4x people (FYI, it didn't)? Id like to suggest that you amend this quantity so each person receives at the very least, one pappadam each. In addition to this Family Pack, I ordered up to $120 worth of food. A complimentary quantity of pappadams wouldn't have gone a stray would it? It would be at a minimal cost to you and would encourage customers to come back after spending all that money.
All in all, the food was nice but my recommendation would be to give a little more :-)
The best of North Indian cuisine

Great place but not too big for larger parties. Food is great but catered more to the Australian/English palettes so just setting expectations if you are Indian like me. Order takeaway naan here frequently and always get a generous portion. Highly recommended family run business.
Put this down as your favourite Indian restaurant. Simply delicious. You will not be disappointed.
Good food. Prices on the menu from their website are outdated and it's no cheaper to buy direct with the restaurant if you use their preferred online ordering system.
My husband bought their goat curry and garlic naan for dinner tonight and I can safely say it’s the best I have tasted in the area. The goat meat was super tender and generous amounts of meat was in it. Best Indian food in Rowville I dare say. We’ll definitely be back again.
Surprisingly good!
I stumbled upon this restaurant as I was looking for a new Indian place to try, to my surprise the quality of their food was very good. We got the take away pack, although it has less variety than other packs in the area but they make up for it in quality.
Flavours were spot on, specially that I asked for different level of spice for different dishes and they adhered to if very well without compromise in taste.
The prices are a bit higher but again it's a better quality food you're getting so no complaints and it's always good to have more options.
Looking forward to dining in hopefully next year after this COVID situation settles a bit.
