Reviews Bellingen Gelato

I had some nice dense chocolate mousse ice cream from the stall at Marrickville Markets - appropriately served very cold so it doesn’t drip immediately. It was very thick though despite being described as a sorbet - maybe that indicates a non-dairy method but it didn’t have the iciness normally seen in a sorbet.

I have tried gelato before but the taste here seemed a but more authentic than any other.
I had a coffee as well n the machine seemed very retro. I might order a tub next time because it was so good.

Every time I am in Rozelle, I need to drop into Bellingen Gelato. It’s won award after award and once you taste it, you know why. The gelato is creamy and not too sweet. I like that the flavours are strong and bold. I love getting the pistachio flavour as it really tastes like pistachio and you’ll find pistachio bits in the icecream too! #gelato

This is the best Gelato ive ever tried so far (included the well-know in CBD) in Sydney. Ive never been to Rozelle, neither heard of this gelato shop, it was a cafe opposite road that drove me to this Gem! Went here on Sunday and Rozelle was a quite town, and passed by this Shop and saw many people in there, so it caught my heart to try it.

Surprisingly, they were delicious! The taste is balance and not too sweet, and I can taste the fresh ingredients they used. I tried their: Strawberry Sorbet, Watermelon Mint Sorbet and Persian Taste. Yum!
Not to be mentioned, some of their menu are Vegan. Even better.

Ambience were relaxing, staff were friendly. Price is reasonable. All I can think is they should be recognised (advertise more in social media) by many people.

Will recommend this shop to my family and friends. Love it.

Sampled some scoops at their cart at Marrickville organic food markets and what a treat. My strawberry sorbet which was vegan, was so full of flavour and creamy for a sorbet. Loved it. Miss 6 loved her vanilla bean gelato, and hubs loved his salted caramel gelato which was vegan too. Highly recommend.

There was a valva(?) flavour which was delicious and vegan! They also had many sorbet flavours and we tried the watermelon and mint which was very refreshing.

No fancy flavours here but this award winning ice creamery do offer traditional favourites, and is well priced at $4 for a scoop. We had a scoop of coffee in a waffle cone and chocolate in a takeaway cup and both were yum.

On the hottest November day in Sydney history, I decided to stray away from my tried and trusted dessert bars and head to Bellingen Gelato. There was 21 flavours on rotation and most were quite conservative with the range focused heavily on sour fruits and nuts.

I settled with sour cherry, salted caramel with peanut butter and macadamia with honey. In hindsight I probably should have gone with more sorbets as the sour notes really freshened up the palate on a warm night. The nut flavours melted with incredible speed but luckily weren't overly sweet.

If you're ever stumped for choice, the storefront window showcases an array of accolades and their corresponding winning flavours. Seating is limited and parking even rarer. However, if you do manage to score an elusive spot, tickets are free for the first 30 minutes.

Across the road from the wonderful Nithik’s Kitchen (which I also review this week), Rozelle’s renaissance continues under a gleaming chromed Art Deco style sign. Bellingen Gelato is co-owned by Robert Sebes and his son Danny. Robert established the infamous Badde Manors Cafe in Glebe back in 1982 and began making gelato there in the late 1980s. In 2004 he sold the business, before opening up a gelato store in Bellingen, northern NSW. The catalyst for opening their first Sydney store was picking up the Grand Champion prize for their sorbet of stewed plum, cinnamon and cloves at the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show . Danny tells me that all “ gelato is made on the premises using recipes developed by Robert over the past 25 years with the focus on strong flavours, high quality natural ingredients and keeping sugar to a minimum. ” After trying Watermelon & Mint - “ 85% watermelon and a bunch of mint ”; Burnt Caramel (which would also make a fabulous milkshake); and Macadamia

Good sorbets. This place is only open during certain hours, most busy Fri, Sat and Sun. Cosy and quick service.

Best gelato tiramisu cake I've ever had! All the other flavours were amazing too - balance yet not too sweet. To top it off, the staff were super friendly and you could see the passion in what they're doing. Will definitely return with family and friends. Highly recommended!

Delicious icecream and friendly staff. I went with some friends and staff were very patient when we tried a lot of flavors before choosing! Also owners are lovely people, gave me some foodie tips for the area when we just moved in down the road. My favourite is burnt caramel.

My new favourite gelato in Sydney! Had Raspberry and Mascarpone + lemon on recommendation of the friendly server. Great combination. Both were really flavourful and balanced each other well. Will definitely be back!

I love this place. Delicious flavours made on site with all their awards displayed in the window. The staff are so nice and friendly and can tell you the makings of every flavour. Very hard to walk past without dropping in. Jaffa flavour and lemon mascapone are the best ever.

Wide selection of gelato and sorbet. The white nectarine sorbet was amazing, with intense flavour of sweet nectarine and bits of nectarine that adds a nice bite and texture. The peanut butter gelato was smooth and creamy though I would prefer if there's some toasted nuts incorporated for added nuttiness. The watermelon and mint sorbet was another winner and feels like you're eating watermelon mojito. It was the perfect refreshing treat for a sunny afternoon.
