Like a lot of people who have written a review, my partner and I used a Groupon deal.
I was 5 mins late because I did not know the restaurant was inside Top Ryde shopping Centre.
We went on a Sunday night but the place was still busy.
We purchased a Greek Feast, and that is exactly what we got.
Very, very good food. There is no way two people can finish that much food, but we gave it our best shot.
That was the best Greek food I have ever had. The lamb was just superb.
We will try and get back on the last Friday of the month for the full Greek dining experience.

The only small advice I would offer is the guys playing the music need to turn it down one notch as it was a bit loud and found it hard to converse with others on our table and maybe after 10 pm turn it up

Went for a Saturday lunch. Food was fantastic, came out in a timely manner and was all fresh. The food was really tasty and staff were friendly and knew a lot about the food. Staff could have been happier, but a very minor criticism to a fantastic lunch. I will definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be back!
What a great place to eat around Ryde. Not pretentious, hearty food and great service. Live music a big plus on Saturday night.
A number of our families went and celebrated New Year's even last night and we were quite impressed with the service and quality of the food. Being of Greek background, this is the type of Greek food we are looking for in a restaurant ie traditional cuisine with enhanced tastes. The staff encouraged us to stay back and even celebrated and danced with us through the New Year. They even popped out a bubbly for us. Great night. Looking forward to another night.
I came here last night with my family and had the $35 all you can eat. Amazing food for the price. We really enjoyed the zucchini fritters and fried calamari and prawns. All the food was fantastic! The staff were also exceptional. Definitely worth checking out.
The kakavia was cooked so well and was such good value for money with the amount of seafood. I would have loved a bit more bread for the tomato base, but overall it was fantastic.
I was in Sydney on a business trip, and came across this lovely restaurant just by chance one evening.
Quite a few different options to eat it was hard to make my choice.
I chose the Taramasalata to begin with and was not disappointed, followed by a wonderful Moussaka. I suitable full and content afterwards. It reminded me of my days in Kos, Greece.
The staff were very friendly.
Next time I am in town THIS is one place I WILL be returning

If there’s one cuisine I don’t have enough of it would Greek, so I was excited to join FCBA at their dinner at Platia Greek Taverna, not only for a night of good food but also plate smashing!. Their plate smashing occurs once a month on Friday nights, and is a fun filled night with performances, dancing, and the opportunity to relieve all your stress by smashing plates on the ground (don’t worry, they’re not real plates,it’s not dangerous at all!).
The greek food at this place is quite good, (there was one instance the meat was dry, but glad it was a once off) Most of the time the lamb souvlaki is full of flavour. Absoultley love the fact they have live music on the weekends, builds up the vibe and atmosphere of closing your eyes and then opening them up and your located in Santorini.....Wishing.
Prices are regular, location is great as you have all of Top Ryde Shopping centre parking. There is inside and outside seating, seating outside isn't very weather proof if there is wind, (that ally where these restaurants are located cause a vortex when the wind comes)

There are limited indoor seating so it is not a good idea to go if you can't deal with the chill. It was busy on the day we went, despite with booking, we were sitting at a table close to the entrance of the restaurant. Basically, it wasn't warm enough to take your coat off, and my parents were particularly upset about it.Having said that, the food and the customer service were not bad. You do have to speak to the right person because it seemed like only the manager made most of the decisions and responsible for most of the service.
We were quite impressed with the food, especially the Rib Eye Steak! I had the Cyprus lamb and I loved it! My parents thought it was a little dry though.
Tip for parking: Top Ryde Shopping Centre only offers 3 hours free parking (unless you arrive after 6pm). It is a busy place so it takes a while for the food to arrive. We arrived there early to do some shopping so we only had 1 hour 45 minutes to dine there. Just enough time to order an entree, main, and a drink (together with the meals), but not dessert. If you are hoping to try everything, I would suggest that you do the shopping another time.And definitely make a booking! I saw quite a few people who hoped to do a walk-in but there was no seat for them.
Nice little oasis in Top Ryde, bouzuki music plays on background.. like back in Creece again. Food is good and portions are big. Food is exactly what you look for, will definately come here with my whole family and enjoy nice meal in this nice ambience.

The food here really is just so good. I live upstairs and i'm always finding myself coming down for more, it's the perfect place for when i can't decide what i want. Plus the all you can eat menu they have on tuesdays is so easy and delicious (pretty sure they have it on mondays too), they change it up every other week so it never gets boring, and i like don't even have to eat breakfast the next day i always get so full. Awesome stuff.
I came here with some friends on the Zorba night event. I kept seeing it on facebook and I thought I just had to try it. It was so much fun! Honestly, everything I expected it to be, and more. The food was so good (you HAVE to try the slow cooked lamb) the music really brought up the atmosphere and the plate smashing - if you've never had the pleasure of smashing plates like the Greeks, this is definitely a must try! I'm thinking to come back again with a bigger group for my birthday in a few months. That good!!!
wife and i love it here, the kids can be fussy but they always eat without too much fuss when we come here (the fav is the chicken), and its also great in the summer coz we just let them run around in the open area out front so it get's their energy out and we can relax. top ryde still has those animal rides for them to play with out front so its just a nice, easy night for us.
Love the service, Kon is an absolute character - we love dining when he's there! Always, always, always recommend this place, it's an excellent dinner vibe.

The Atmosphere and adorable older musician teleports you to modern day Greece.
The food was authentically flavored and cooked to perfection (I got the sword fish fillet w Vegetables) roasted veggies really gives it a hearty finish.
One thing I will comment on that will 100% bring back here is the exceptional service From Steve, this man is the meaning of building a business on people and their families, what a humble man of character.
Quality of food: We ordered the feta, tomato and prawn spaghetti which was perfectly cooked and had a fantastic flavour. In addition, we chose the slow cooked lamb shoulder which was magnificent. Greek isn't Greek without lamb in my opinion.
Service: Very fast to take our order (which I like) and even quicker for our food to come out. Very impressed given the volume of patrons on a Saturday evening.
Value: Reasonable value but even better with an Entertainment book voucher :). You could pay 10-15% more per dish in the city and get the same quality and service.
A Greek meal is generally accompanied by feelings of excessive fullness and an inability to sleep as a result. However I am happy to say that Platia has broken this trend, the perfect amount of food for two people with authentic Greek hospitality!

We caught wind of a special that Platia Greek Taverna hold on Monday and Tuesday Nights. They call it "Greek Yum Cha" or "All You Can Eat Greek Mezze." Sounds too good to be true right? Wrong - we checked it out & it is as good as it sounds!
We arrived and were promptly seated and told about the special as we were handed our menus. Naturally l, we pretended to look through the menu, already knowing what we came for ;)
Yes, we went for the All You Can Eat Greek Mezze & boy was it incredible! The week we went, they were serving fresh Pita with a variety of dips: Hommous, Baba Ganoush & Taramasalata - all made in house!
Like amateurs, we filled up on bread and another platter came through with Salt & Pepper Squid, Grilled Halloumi, Dolma, Grilled Sausages & Porchetta! Everything was cooked to perfection!
To our surprise, more food arrived as a part of the package - out came some Souvlaki, Grilled Chicken & Lamb Skewers on a bed of Hot Chips & more Pita!
Meat was so tender and juicy & chips were super crunchy!
For $29pp, we seriously got more than our money's worth - we were only able to go through one round of everything. Most likely because we filled up with bread!
Will definitely be back - especially for this special & some plate smashing!!!
First time eating Greek food. Ate here for a birthday. The food was delicious especially the grilled octopus which I highly recommend. The food didn't take long to come out. Loved the experience and would gladly come back again.

Platia Greek Taverna is amongst an array of restaurants in the dining precinct of Top Ryde Shopping Centre. I do love Greek food and was keen to check out what Platia had to offer. I have now been on two occasions, which shows how much I enjoyed it!. You can sit indoors or alfresco. I quite like being ‘alfresco’ but still indoors, as you are in a shopping centre. I went mid-week and also on a Friday night and the Friday had a big line of people, and the place was full – probably due to the zorba music and plate smashing (I will get to this later!).
I've walked past Platia Greek Taverna a few times and I finally stop by to try out their Greek food thanks to an extended invite. It also happens I dine on one of their monthly event nights where there is zorba dancing! How exciting. I have to say, I'm quite a fan of Greek cuisine in general. Monday night dinners calls for some traditional Greek style food. I ordered an Apple Martini because it's Monday.
To start we had the spanakopita, haloumi and the sheftalia (pork mince crepinette infused with parsley, onion and Greek herbs). Food came out in no time.
Haloumi is always a favourite, spanakopita had more of a spinach taste which was more to my liking. (Sometimes they get too cheesy and you don't get to enjoy both flavours).
For main we decided to have another entree and that was the Prawns 🍤 Saganaki ~ sautéed in a rich tomato sauce & ouzo, mild Chilli topped with feta cheese 👌😋 Very nice sauce indeed!
Staff were very pleasant and helpful when it came to picking the dishes.
Overall, I had a lovely first time and I would indeed go back!

I was not expecting to be served such a spectacular menu and may have underestimated the TopRyde Shopping Centre precinct because there truly is something quite magical about this place. It's a great space of table configurations for large groups and couples which is all tied together by the bar which acts as a focal point. Such generous serves on their entrees we shared several of them . We started off with the MIXED DIPS of Tzatziki, Taramas (chickpea), Favas (salmon roe). Really nice start with the dominating flavours of each dip that really tell their own story as you dip the freshly grilled pita. The South Australian GRILLED OCTOPUS served with red capsicum Salsa and oregano olive oil is a great modernisation of the spearfished tenticle beast that is a popular meze in Greece with Ouzo!!! The favorite for me though was the ZUCCHINI & PUMPKIN FRITTER which is so beautifully made that it stands well on its own with or without the accompanying pickled peppers mayo. We weaved in a few glasses of SKOURAS' SAINT GEORGE red wine from the Nemea region. It's a sweet fermentation of berries with hints of aniseed, cinamoon and herbs which works well with the dishes we have.For main we shared a HALF SHOULDER OF LAMB. Slow cooked with lemon roasted potatoes & lemon oregano lamb jus, it idrops off the bone at the softest touch of the spoon as our attendant completes the dish on our table. Absolutely spectacular with its natural juices used in the flavoursome jus.
If you're not sure what to choose from the excellent selection of traditional desserts, the DESSERT TASTING PLATTER FOR TWO is a great introduction that showcases highlights of their dessert range. This includes GALAKTABOUREKO (semolina creamy milk custard in filo pastry served with halva cream) , BAKLAVA (crushed walnuts, almonds in cinnamon infused syrup wrapped in pastry and served with honey mascarpone), POACHED PAIR (in Santorini white muscat with cinnamon and cloves, served on crushed nuts with honey marscapone) and STRAWBERRIES PLATIA.All staff we dealt with tonight were so friendly and on the ball making sure they new what was going on across all tables as there are a few blind spots in the L-Shape configuration of the space. We were lucky to be served by the manager Kon and were given great insight into each element of our meal. Would definitely come back here!
We came on a voucher deal for a Sunday lunch. The food was quite tasty, huge portions and we were really full. While service was in no way rude, we would have liked to have some explanation as to what we were eating, since we were not familiar with greek cuisine. I'm not sure if that's normal for all customers or it was because we were on a voucher that they didn't bother to do so.
Update Sept 2017: Decided to try this place again for dinner and wow! Was so impressed with the food this time - the moussaka and slow-cooked lamb were just so good, and so was the starter platter. We will be back. Upgraded score from 3.5 to 4.
Dining here was a great experience, came here on one of their "zorba" nights, the first time I have been to this event or to this restaurant and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed, from the food and the service, to the ambiance. Was fun to watch all the plate smashing and dancing. Might join in next time.
Good food, and good atmosphere, excellent night out, make sure you go with an appetite though, some portions can run on the large side, plus you probably will want to order more than one dish as everything looked amazing. Will definitely be back.

We had the dip platter of fava, tzatziki and tarama with grilled pita breads, followed by a lamb and chicken souvlakia. Food was very nice and while the service was efficient, a smile from our waiter would not have gone astray. By contrast, the waitress who cleared our table was happy and friendly.

Had the chance to dine here again for dinner and food and service were on point.
To start we had the Spanakopita and Mushrooms Yemista. The 'spinach pies' were lovely and crisp with a cheesy filling. The stuffed mushrooms had a nice flavour to them as well.
Continued on with Cyprus Lamb and Chicken Souvlaki. The lamb was melt in the mouth, the accompanying haloumi and mashed potatoes were just right and paprika sauce rounded it off well. The chicken was full of flavour and the pita bread and sweet potato chips were great.
The sweet finish to the meal was the Dessert Tasting Plate. This consisted of custardy galaktoboureko, a nutty baklava, fruity poached pear, and absolutely delicious Greek walnut cake. A real treat to end the meal.

Had their Monday all you can eat Greek Yum Cha with Sydneyguyrojoe and his fiancee. It was a very satisfying experience.
The journey started with pita bread plus Tzaziki and Taramas dips. I prefer their Taramas as it is more flavorsome and works well with the bread.
Soon after they sent in the cyprus Halloumi and Dolmades, Greek salad, calamari, spanakopita, potatoes in lemon olive oil and the chicken plus lamb skewer.
The order of my preference : Spanakopita, Greek Salad, Cslamari, Dolmades and Halloumi.
The Spanakopita is prefect in size, composition and texture. The Greek salad is very fresh and tasty. Unlike other Greek Salsd out there this one I can have any dau of the week.
I am not that impressed with the skewers. The chicken is too chunky and some part is still raw.. not a big fan of lamb one either as there's big chunk of fat bigger than the lean meat.
Had seconds for their Spanakopita, Dolmades and Halloumi. Did not have their desert as we are all full.
Bottom line : Great food. Good service. Good Value
The place was great from the get go but has become amazing. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they even remembered our names. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
What a fantastic experience! We went with the manager's recommendations which turned out to be great. We had the haloumi, octopus, stuffed peppers, lamb......the portions are huge so go here with an appetite. And....do save room for dessert. Greek food and hospitality at its finest!
This place is great if you want some good hearty food. The beautifully cooked lamb shoulder is my favorite and always leave me very satisfied. For me this is the best kind of food, simple but full of flavour and most important very generous portion size.
Also if you're not a meat eater they make a very good Vegetarian Mousaka.
Greek food has been experiencing a resurgence in Sydney of late. Marked by the opening of several fine dining and casual Greek eateries offering delicious Mediterranean delights satisfying all tastes.
We were recently transported to Yaya’s kitchen to enjoy one of Sydney’s newest Greek restaurants, Platia Greek Taverna. Having indulged in a week of Greek food during a recent European holiday, I especially love this Mediterranean cuisine with its focus on fresh produce, wholesome food and flavour.
Platia is the greek word for town square and taverna means a small restaurant. Well, Platia Greek Taverna for me and my friends is a place that brings back our Greece memories especially after a lil bit of chat and feasting on their authentic food. Without further ado, let's jump straight to their appetizer! We started with their Mezze Plater for sharing several of these satisfying bits and bites while we wait for the main course to come. I guess this platter is an absolute must as we'll get a little taste of everything from the grilled halloumi, country sausage, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), the thick and rich tzatziki (yoghurt and cucumber dip), tasty brilliant pink tarama (salted and cured roe dip), some olives, peppers and grilled pita bread.

Platia is located in the ground level of Top Ryde shopping center. We ordered shared mezz platter and a prawn Saganaki. Prawns were cooked beautifully and sauce was seriously delicious! Mezz platter was nice too, especially enjoyed Haloumi and my hubby enjoyed lamb sausages. For main we shared Chicken Santorini, which is oven baked chicken served with mash potato on creamy wine sauce. Chicken was tender and serving was generous, good enough to share between two people. We were pretty full by this point but wanted to try the dessert platter. The platter has four desserts; strawberry platia, poached pear, bakalava and Galaktoboureko (greek filo pastry) Each desserts were really amazing, I am not really huge on sweets in general but I loved these desserts. They weren’t overly sweet and each dessert was really well executed. I especially enjoyed Strawberry platia, it was made with fresh strawberry, strawberry ice cream on strawberry flavored Persian fairy floss, a total strawberry heaven!
We also ordered glass of greek rosé and cab sav by the glass and they were both nice wines. To finish off, the waiter brought Greek liqueur shots which had refreshing minty flavor. It was a great way to end the meals.
All in all we had fantastic meal here; service was friendly and attentive. Great Greek restaurant, highly recommend!
Ignore any past bad reviews as Platia has been reborn! The service, food and atmosphere are all top notch now. We have been there in the past and had slow service and average/nice food. There is a new chef and Matre De now which appear to have made all the difference. The entrees seem the same.. but they were good the other 2 times. The mains were the big improvement... massive portions of mouth watering lamb and other meat dishes with delicious flavours and vegetables. The dessert was amazing too with all the best mediterranean delights beautifully presented and tasting just as good as they looked. We had an outside table in the piazza which lent to a very enjoyable evening on a balmy night with a pleasant breeze. The service was excellent and quick, never even having to ask for water bottles to be refilled. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys seafood and slow cooked meats, looking for a relaxed, tasteful atmosphere with excellent wines, desserts and good service.
We dined here on Friday night and we really enjoyed it. We were at the back so didn't have seats that looked out into la piazza. It's quite noisy but has an upbeat atmosphere with Greek music competing with a bustling crowd. We had entrees of the Mezze plate and dips and it was all gobbled up with glee, even by the kids. For mains we had the seafood spaghetti and I had the beef dish - basically a stew in a tomato sauce with super creamy mashed potato. It was melt in the mouth delectable. Tip: Kids spaghetti was huge so we were glad we split it between two kids. We didn't have dessert as we were so full. There was a fair delay between entrees and mains but we were not in a rush. Service was good but could have been a little more attentive.
Have been here twice now for lunch and have had a great experience each time. We had the lamb lemonato and chicken souvlaki - both were outstanding and reason we came back. Our 2 year old enjoyed it too. Friendly staff and portions are way generous. Best secret in Top Ryde.
Had dinner at 5:30pm on the 8/1/16 - service was fantastic! Food was great, the entree for two was more than enough by the time we got our mains we were a little full however the Cyprus Lamb was good. A bit dry but the combination of the mash potato leek and egg plant gave it a great taste. Sadly too full to have dessert. Will definitely go back. Generous serving for price. 😊😊👍
Came here for a birthday. Good atmosphere and very suitable music. Great service although a little slow. Food was quite good but Musaka was slightly disappointing. Lamb dish was outstanding. Great night.
Had an awesome dining experience here on a weeknight last week. The place is decorated so tastefully. The beautiful decor and the funky music create a great atmosphere. The staff were jovial and incredibly attentive. The starters were beautifully presented. Had the Gemista as the main. It tasted great but the portion size was too big.
On the whole, a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a good meal. If you're planning to visit Platia, definitely save room for dessert!
This place is fantastic! Authentic Greek food at its best in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I genuinely don't think I've eaten better halloumi or calamari before! We got the pork souvlaki and moussaka for the main and it was incredible. Everything was beautifully presented and dished up by hand at the table. Their staff went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely night. Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Platia Greek Taverna. The staff were friendly, attentive and charismatic and the food was delicious! I ordered the dolmades, haloumi and octopus to start and the mousaka and lamb souvlaki for main.
The haloumi was incredible - crispy on the outside and melted on the inside. The South Australian octopus was cooked to perfection and I couldn't pick a favourite. The mousaka was amazing and I wish I could have eaten more of the souvlaki but I was way too full. The desserts looked incredible but again I couldn't fit anything else in - I will definitely have to be back to try!
Interiors are great and my only suggestion would be getting rid of the table numbers to avoid the standard cafe feel.

I seriously can't comprehend how this place has had a couple of negative reviews, I've just finished what I consider one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The octopus, dolmades and halloumi was phenomenal and presented beautifully. Im a sucker for octopus and it was so fresh and flavoursome!! I'm a mousaka newbie and didn't really know what to expect, but it completely blew my mind!! Every single dish left me in a state of absolute food delight.
After tossing up between whether to get the dessert plate for two, we saw another table order it and couldn't resist. DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT THE DESSERT PLATE - it will be a terrible mistake if you miss out. Everything was so beautifully presented and tasted just as immaculate as it looked.
I only tried one cocktail ( The Jam Pot) from their impressive list and it was so yummy! Sweet and fruity - my two favourite things in a cocktail.
I urge anyone to ignore the not so great reviews. It makes me so happy to see restaurants taking feedback on board and going above and beyond to improve their service. Staff were attentive, friendly and charismatic - I can't wait to return!!
To be honest I was concerned that an all-you-can eat was going to be average so I was pleasantly surprised at just how good Platia turned out to be.
The food was hot, quality and brought out in a timely manner. The braised beef stew was a stand out dish, with hints of apple or pear (?) but absolutely delicious!
The staff are super friendly and a particular mention goes out to the senior member of what I assume is family, he just oozed warmth and his welcoming nature just added
to the great atmosphere of Platia.
Will I be back...hell yeah, as I can't wait to try some other dishes. Thank you Platia and well done on a wonderful experience!!!
It was my first time to ever eat at a Greek restaurant and I am happy to say that I'm pleasantly surprised! Must I say that the dip is literally the best dip I have probably ever tried and just helped so much with balancing the flavour of the meat. Ordered the platter which had plenty of food, it was such a hearty meal. The service is really good as well! The only downside was that the pork was a little tough to chew but other than that everything was great. Strong recommend if you're looking for something different to try at Ryde.
The skewers are amazing we ended up doubling our order! And that haloumi platter! Delicious! Wasn't a bit fan of the mixed dips although the bread is fantastic! But the fava and the caviar weren't my favourite!
Came here for dinner one night and had a great night, good atmosphere with the live greek music and the food was amazing, the moussaka was so flavourful and yummy definitely one of the best ones ive tried, the lamb souvlaki was so amazing with the herbs and juicy meat with the tzatziki mixed so well. For dessert had the galatoboureko had a nice creamy inside and so flavourful crispy outside definitely would recommend to try the galatoboureko dessert you will thank me later!
Friendly staff with good food. They did actually get our order wrong. But realised their own mistake and quickly brought out our correct dishes. The two wrong orders were on the house so very happy with how they dealt with it.
The fish was a tad salty however the lamb was cooked to perfection! Calamari was unique with a generous serving. The grilled haloumi was a tad undercooked for my taste. Bread and dips were amazing.
Overall a very satisfying meal.
Good service despite it's a very busy restaurant. The food were so so so yummy. Love the Greek coffee too. The live music there was a bonus!! We've had a great night. Recommended :D
