The experience overall was great. We tried three different desserts which was the mango yuzu, tiramisu, and black forest cake which where all amazing! The mango yuzu was amazing! Only disappointment is the chai tea didn't taste nice and prices are a bit high. Good location and it was nice sitting next to heaters enjoying our desserts. Overall great experience and will be back.
Some of the most delicious desserts around, multiple options for yuzu flavoured items and beautifully presented. Friendly team and lovely decor.
Please come open one in Melbourne!
Koi desserts never disappoint, just like their two other outlets, they provide beautifully crafted cakes & desserts with each element is well thought out. Nice ambiance with comfortable seating. They also have an open kitchen where they conduct their classes which customers can look into & view. 🙂
A beautiful dessert place that you would want to treat yourself to once in awhile, if not often! The desserts are so beautiful to look at and tastes even better. The flavours really come through and there are layers of textures too. Every dessert has a story to tell and it’s tale unfolds in every layer of the dessert. The thought and details put into the desserts are breathtaking. It’s very decadent but not overdone. I’m still dreaming of all the beautiful desserts there...
A unique place to grab delectable desserts. Always a delicious combination of luxury and taste, KOI is a great place to fulfill your sugar fantasies. Highly recommend to anyone passing by.
Great desert bar! The sort of deserts you would find in a high end fine dining restaurant... those deserts aren’t just pretty they taste pretty darn good too! Had the pistachio cake, Thai mouse and passion fruit cake. Decently priced too. Very impressive and would come
Again. I’m hoping they would open one in Melbourne 🤗
A friend of mine had recently brought over some Koi desserts and I was so amazed! (There was four when they arrived but sadly they where eaten to quickly before I could snap a picture of them)
They where absolutely adorable and delicately presented. Not to mention the taste within these little creations where mouth watering. The two in the photo where the mango flavour and raspberry flavour (I didn’t know which one I liked more)
Will defiantly revisit this place just to get full on a sugar dose! And even keep them in mind for occasions if I ever need to take some dessert with me!
Pretty cakes with lots of choices, every time we be there, always find something new, but cakes are bit sweet and expensive. Worth to try if you like sweets
Came to Koi at 9.30pm and, understandably, there were not many desserts left in the window. But of what was there, it looked amazing.
We ordered the chocolate mousse ball. It was so delicious. Not in a more-ish way but more in a way where you appreciate all the delicate and intricate flavours and design of the dessert.
Very expensive for $12 so it’s not a place I’d go back to regularly. But they do offer a modern setting in the area that’s open until late for people to hang out at and enjoy. The location is an odd one though.
Great place to hang out, awesome cakes to choose.. i wish i can eat the all of the cake!! try the ice lemon tea!! So refreshing!! Great customer service..
We had their dinner set menu. We really liked all their dishes especially their desserts which stood out. The moss dessert was our favourite. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was chill, modern and very nice. The takeaway desserts were all so beautiful we had a hard time deciding what to get. The takeaway desserts were quite pricey (about $10 per piece) but I can appreciate how much hard work has gone into creating it. Will surely be back.
Just walking into the shop puts a smile on my face. They say you eat with your eyes first and I definitely agree. Every piece looked beautiful and you just want to try them all. Nothing was overly sweet and the flavours just go so well together. Expensive though, so I wouldn't say I'd be a regular here.
To get spoiled on your birthday, and on top of that to get cake from KOI is awesome.
Good this 3 pieces of cakes
I have as following: nomtella, black sesame tart and peach.
My favorite is : nomtella: Espresso mousse is so delightful, light and airy with salted caramel, chocolate brownie and hazelnut... yum yum!
Really beautiful and amazing cakes. We have bought small cakes and have ordered 2 full size cakes in the past. I am not a dessert person but love the cakes here. Not cheap but worth a splurge every now and then.
Got the Baileys and the coconut mousse dessert to takeaway.Â
The bailey were not strong enough, and it is more coffee than anything, but the mousse has a nice contrast of sweetness and sourness.Â
The price is just ridiculously expensive, it would remain as a treat only.

What else to say that hasnt been said abt koi? One of those ridiculously expensive decorative fish folks breed n sell n go into comps with. But i digress.
Watermelon 4/5, no surprises this was good. A nod to black star?
Nomtella 4/5, thought it’d be too rich but well balanced actually.
Passionberry cheese cake 2.75/5, personally didnt like this but hey give it a go if you must.
Strawberry bells 3.5/5, distant matcha replacement (is got 1 thin layer of sumthin matcha). Good as is.
Dont expect much change outta $50.
Again a place not to be missed! We have already been to their CBD outlet and loved them. We got blessed to have their second outlet next to our place in Ryde. The pastries they serve are just mind blowing but I just find them a bit expensive. Baked to perfection!
Service - 4/5

Lots of pretty desserts, less so of cakes and more so of mousses and cups of treats. The desserts available change from day to day and so if you want something in particular, the best way is to order online ahead of time. There's limited seating inside so be prepared for this.
Koi is part of the annual Amex shop small promotion which normally happens in November. When you spend $20 or more, you'll receive a $10 cashback.
Mouth watering desserts. Quick service. Friendly staff. That’s the long and short of it.
The only complaint I have is that they operate on a cash-only basis. It’s inconvenient - no one carries cash on them these days.
The desserts are delicious. You can really taste all the flavours in the descriptions. It needs more seating as it is very hard to get a table.
As a MasterChef fan, I was so excited to see Reynold and his team make these fruit cakes as part of their new Spring menu. It's not as fancy or complicated as the ones made by Kirsten Tibballs in the MasterChef finale this year, but they sure do look like the fruits on tv, just missing fancy components and ice cream/sorbet/multiple layers etc. Funny how nothing is original, since I feel all good ideas always comes from some pastry chef in France, like how these cakes were inspired by Cedric Grolet.
Amazing ❤❤❤❤ The selection of desserts was breath taking, the staff were helpful, friendly and truly seemed to love working at Koi and the price of those mini masterpieces was great. The desserts had a surprise in every mouthful. Each dessert was like a little work of art. If you love sweets.. you MUST visit Koi.
I was expecting this to be equal or higher standard than the main store at Chippendale. A large display of desserts lined up across the marble counter forming a rainbow within the glass casing. From there you could see the stunningly clean and beautiful kitchen. Tube lights hang off the ceiling at various altitudes, thus illuminating the vicinity. Service was polite and warm.
I started with a piccolo that had plenty of acidity to cut through the milk and bitterness to stand against it. The roast was toastier but shorter finish than any other. I chose the perfectly mirror glazed yuzu dessert. From the first bite, yuzu was prominent in the light and fluffy mousse. On top of a contrasting crunchy, short, savoury base for additional textures. Food glue was used to stick the shortbread base to the board that led the mousse to slide around. The board will make sure your dessert gets home in one piece. I liked this one the most of the others I had tried so far. The only criticism would be lack of differentiation from the desserts in the city.
I have been here for more than 4 times and always love my visit to this little gem in Ryde. On every visit,I normally try different cake and almost all of them are (too) pretty and delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful. My current fav is Watermelon Cake in jar, so refreshing and yum!
All desserts look nice. The apple and pear are really interesting and gorgeous. The apple in red is in green apple flavour, ad it tastes better then pear. Worth trying.
Exquisite desserts with interesting flavour combinations and artistically presented. The cakes/desserts are around the $11-12 mark. In terms of the cafe itself, it's quite ordinary and the lady at the checkout was a bit indifferent to the customers, though another lady working in the kitchen was friendlier. You can get your own (free) water.
So yesterday I had a serious craving for something sweet. So here Im standing in Koi dessert bar. Beautifully presented desserts each like a work of art. Service was plesant. There was a great selection. It is a little pricey but in saying that I dont mind spending a little extra considering the attention to detail each dessert had.
I was so spoilt for choice so i order 5 different desserts.
I devoured each dessert individually sets its own distinctive flavour.
Thanks for works of art I almost didnt want to eat them.
For a guy who is not into sweet dessert, this place sure impress me. All the selected dessert gave full bodied flavour. Try the pear shaped dessert, it's one of their award winning. Personally, I love the pear tart.
Can't really complain cause didn't have much exposure to 'Dessert bar' concept. Service is OK and if I were to dine with my eyes, I'd definitely be stuffed. Handy work is delicate and taste is not too bad. Sometimes not knowing that to expect is part of the experience. Personally liked the Moss in the Jar. Others I'm sure someone can remind me of the name but I don't particularly remember. Even took away some for the family back home.
First time trying these hyped desserts. Moss in jar, white peach, mandarin, and nomtella. Nomtella was my preferred one among them. Very flavourful and thick. I wouldn't mind paying $10/item on average to try them but I'm not sure if it's value for money though. The desserts were rather 'light' and small in size for the price. Would rather go for Zumbo for the price, varieties in concept and flavours.
Love the drinks, love the dessert. Allow me to say every single dessert from KOI is a must-try. The only thing I dislike is always not enough tables... they have a massive kitchen but only a few tables in store which is always not possible to dine in.
After visting the Chippendale bar, i was super excited this opened up at my local!! Literally a 5 min drive from me. It is a bit tricky to park around here. The shop is brand new and fitted out beautifully,. there are a few tables to sit out but it generally feels like a takeaway shop, with a beautiful kitchen at the back.
Love this whole concept! It is what the title says: a dessert kitchen. Don't expect many seats, and be quick because the desserts sell out heckin fast. Didn't get to try the coffee here but the coffee and cold drinks in their Chippendale store are good. 10/10 ambiance!
P.S if you're looking to grab desserts with a group bigger than 4, I'd definitely recommend heading to their Chippendale location where seats are aplenty.
Really lovely space. As with their original outlet in the city, limited sitting space, and being newly opened & weekend, it was full of people, the queue to order was about 5 deep out the door when I got there. The glass cabinets are mostly emptied, they are selling the cakes quicker than they can fill the display! I got a few selection to takeaway. Happy to say (unlike my first outing to the Chippendale store when it first opened) all of my selections were spot on & absolutely delightful. The flavours combinations gel perfectly together & were well balanced. The Earl Grey Panna had the distinct note of earl grey with the smooth panna cotta. The Bailey was well restrained with the sweetness, so not heavy, yet still very indulgent. The Little Garden was cute as well as tasty. They are a bit pricey ranging from $9.50-$12 a piece, and you'll be extremely lucky to actually get a seat to enjoy them eating in. But I'll be back for some more takeaways!
Oknot a bad dessert place but a bit far location wise
The mandarin and orange dessert was pretty good imo and better than the dark chocolate one
Would like to try the other desserts but they always seem to run out
Walked pass the place a couple times, came by after seeing masterchef. Was like a kid in a candy store, we pretty much went silly and ordered nearly everything. The decor was very elegant and pleasant presentation of cakes in display was on point. Every cake look like it was made meticulously, with all chef skills and dedication. Everything looked stunning and tasted even better, we ended up with over 12 small cakes all packaged carefully and neatly
Been here a few times and I must recommend the Mango Ice Tea. The mango fruit foam and homemade ice tea is absolutely delicious.
Desserts are good if you like more fruity type desserts. It is quite pricey as well so not a regular dessert place.
Top recommendations: Mango Iced Tea, Black Forest, Opera Cake
Wow! We tried the red velvet and pandan croissant. Both were amazing but the croissant was incredible. Flaky, perfectly baked, filled with the smoothest and most delicious tasting pandan cream and topped with toasted coconut flakes. Worth travelling across Sydney for. Absolute quality and finesse in every cake and pastry. Had to stop myself from ordering more. The best dessert place in Sydney? Australia?
My favourite place to come to when I crave sweets. They have the best desserts, period. All their creations are rich in flavour , so delicious . I have a new favourite everytime I go there.
Great cup of coffee. That's just to start. You kind of don't enter through Koi's doors for coffee, you go for the delicious, creative and tasty AF treats. Took my Tinder date for a coffee meet and greet, a kind of easy going date after endless pointless texting. Really the banal Tinder texting could so easily be averted by a quick coffee meet and greet. The face to face date is the most productive way to see if serendipity has fallen on the both of you. Anyway the date was a failure, however the coffee and dessert treats were just superb. The taste, the creative design and the effort that Koi employees put into their work pays of winnings like a pinball. I had two coffees, had one and we spoke deep and meaningfully over our chosen desert treats. All was going well until I mentioned a political affiliation that for her was a deal breaker. Anyway the date was a bust but the coffee and treats made the difference. In fact I think my date felt she had acted poorly and texted me a few days later asking me out. I am single, and want a loving long term relationship, but my dignity is paramount and I turned a second with her down. She was astounded and I simply said that I prefer having coffee and enjoying treats at Koi in my own pleasant company. I'm not a second chance regardless of desire and Koi Desert Kitchen is not a second place treat.
Love coming here for desserts! Always a wide variety of desserts with different flavours and textures. You can see each dessert has lots of effort put into it to make it perfect.
Very beautiful, aesthetic and delicious cakes. Purchased two cakes for a friends birthday and no one was disappointed. GF people were also impressed. The black sesame with the yuzu marshmallow layer (amongst other layers) was my favourite!
Little boutique dessert shop plus cafe tucked away on Blaxland Street, Ryde - a local gem and welcomed addition to this neigbourhood. Staff were friendly and coffee was nice. Desserts are definitely pretty and tasty, however a tad pricey.
