Review Aqua Blu Cafe - Rye

I’m only giving one star because I can’t give less than that. We came into this cafe on Easter Sunday morning, everyone seemed really friendly, except the owner. It seemed like his poor staff were walking on egg shells. I don’t blame them as all he was doing was yelling at them! Not only that, I ordered a ‘smashed avo’ for $20. You know what I got? One tiny bit of toast with avocado and a few tomatoes. Couldn’t believe my eyes when it came out! $20 for that meal was ridiculous. It was absolutely horrible too. I’m not sure what kind of bread it was, but it definitely didn’t taste like bread. I will give my thumbs up to the young boy working there. We just wanted to give him a hug as despite being yelled at every 5 seconds to do this and do that, he served us with a smile and was very polite. He was probably no more than 15. Good on you kid, if you see this, I hope you find a job that treats you better and serves you well.

Came to the cafe on Sunday 12/6/2022 The young staff were trying their best however the owner was rude and yelling at them in front of us. Very awkward and I felt very sorry for his staff. He should know that he is meant to train them and not tell them off in front of people. Food was good however they missed one meal and we had to wait an extra 5 mins for it. If the owner ever reads this please reconsider the way you chat with your staff and otherwise you will not be able to keep them and people will continue to leave bad reviews! Andre Caro

The food was terrible. Ordered scrambled eggs with spinach and salmon, and my wife ordered buttermilk pancakes. We also ordered two coffees. After about 30 min wait, the food came. The pancakes were obviously not freshly made, and it came with spoonfuls of "iced up" icecream and not a smooth icecream ball, and some berry jam mush. The scrambled eggs were barely edible, but came with a side of toast made from old bread and cold sloppy spinach. The coffees were horrible, having that burnt coffee taste and watered down. Were supposed to be lates. The table we sat at was sticky. My elbows stuck to the table. The owner ( presumably the middle aged man making the coffees) just talked a lot and barked out orders to staff a lot. Overall, a terrible dining experience, that took our hard earned money (not cheap at just under $60) and left a bad taste. Do not recommend at all.

Amazing service, delicious coffee and mouthwatering homemade cakes! Definitely don't regret using this cafe as our chosen place for a coffee fix. Will be our future pit stop before heading to the beach. Thanks team!

Ordered the baked eggs with chorizo, the dish consisted of a lukewarm sauce with bits of chorizos and an undercooked poached egg sitting in the middle. This dish was not baked in any way. And if that was not bad enough the chorizo smelt off, we told the owner and waitress who didn't seem too concerned. I was violently ill for the next 48 hours. The worst case of food poisoning I've ever experienced. Stay far far away from this establishment.

What a lovely cafe. We received a very pleasant greeting on entry. There were quite a few people inside here on a dull rainy day. No brave souls outside in the air either. It really is a cute bright little cafe with good indoor and outdoor seating. You can even get the odd glimpses of the marina and the bay. Full marks for the clever retro playlist they had on here too. A beauty. We enjoyed our coffees. They’re at the more expensive end but no matter as the quality was there. It’s full on Aussie but we had to have toast and vegemite too. They use very good sourdough here. It was delicious. And, critically, we were given a good amount of vegemite. The food on display in the fridge food looked really good. Huge sausage rolls. The meals and snacks on the menu looked most enticing as well. The cakes looked terrific too. We said as much to the lovely owner/manager as we left. His happy comment was a classic. It’s all home made he confirmed and “... if you want mass produced, go down the road”. Indeed.

Bought a latte. Took a couple of sips. Almost threw it away. Drove home, reconsidering, tasting, and then regretting it immediately. Didn’t finish it. Maybe I got unlucky, but a shop that only has one size of coffee for sale, it didn’t bode well from the start…

Very lovely customer service. Attentive staff. Great coffee. The meal I had was on point and reasonably priced. Lots of appetising homemade treats. Plenty of seating inside and out.
