Review Limoncello - Sandringham

It's been a long time since I visited, and I wasn't disappointed. Delicious vege breakfast with a decent coffee, well priced for local area. Warm friendly professional service. Only challenge was the toast, it was really tough to cut. Will go again.
Jerry Spoerl
I just had some onions rings they were well prepared with a good portion. I also some Pepper Mint Tea. Which was just lovely. Today I had the soup of the day which was just lovely.
Gus Fingerelli
Unfortunately our experience was not the best. We received outstanding friendly service, but the sourdough toast need a tile cutter to cut through it. And when I order a coffee extra, extra hot, I expect it to be a lot more than warm.

Yeah nah.... ordered a mushroom burger, got half a mushroom (See my photo). Being a mushroom burger you'd think you get a whole mushroom. It's like getting a beef burger with half a patty. I'll just keep going next door as per usual.

Excellent coffee Had breakfast here and really enjoyed the coffee and service provided. The vegetarian breakfast was really nice and filling. The place has a good vibe and would be a good place for lunch or an afternoon beverage. I would return here again

Popped in for a quick coffee as I have done many times. I only stop if there is a car park outside (15 mins allowed). Nice staff and the coffee is always good. Time to read a newspaper with a nice atmosphere to boot.

Unfortunately the hot chocolate made here is lukewarm and weak and reminds me of quik powder....very disappointing. Definitely give this a miss. The service was fast and adequate though.

If you know you know.... but if you don't... when in Sandringham brekky, lunch or dinner... Limoncello only if what you want is great food and coffee... pleasant professional service and great value... If you don't want the above then walk on! Yiur loss though... The best Vegetarian Brekky in the suburb as well! I even uber eats it due to the lockdown and you can see by the before and after....! SPOT ON!

Where do you start the claim on their website drew me to the cafe. .we are serious about our food serving delicious Italian inspired breakfast brunch lunch menu.. So I ordered 1of the 2 only Italian inspired options both gnocchi my friend ordered the pasta special braised lamb pasta with Parmesan and lentil. After 10 minutes of ordering the waitress returned to advise me that they had no gnocchi, so I asked to have the special as well, to be told only 1 serve was available. So after coming to this cafe for Italian I ended up having to order the pork slider. After another 10 or so minutes I observed the chef well actually I won't call him a chef because a chef would not serve up the disgrace they called pasta. I watched as he shook Kraft Parmesan cheese that you get from any supermarket over my friends meal. When presented at the table the special looked like something from a 70's woman's weekly recipe made by a 2 year old. It had no sauce it was packet processed pasta combined with Kraft Parmesan and what looked like rectangles of tinned processed meat. The waitress can back and asked if the meals were satisfactory to which my friend complained it was dry had no sauce and was flavorless, she also asked if she could even get olive oil over it to which that request was ignored. So upon going to settle the bill we complained again and asked to speak to the manager. She completely dismissed our complaints advising us that we are the only people that had that opinion. So after paying $80.00 for let's just say mediocre service a disgrace of a meal let's just say do yourself a favour steer well clear of this so called Cafe you can get a better meal off the local homeless food truck....

Love this place. Best service, food and people. (And awesome burgers)

Since I couldn't do burger night with you guys tonight, just had Neil Perry's "burger project" chicken burger for lunch instead, similar to "Marina's". It was all right, but yours is so much better!!! So it's official - you guys have the best burgers in town!!!!
Ingrid Brandeggen-Taylor
Corn fritters were nice though small in serving. Water was room temperature which was a bit disappointing as it was a warm day.

Cool place. Great coffee & food too! Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere...

Great food, coffee and atmosphere. The wait staff were so friendly. The man who greeted us sticks in my memory from the last time we went there. So helpful and happy and made our experience all the better. Will be going there more often !!
Karen Lomas
Great coffee. Friendly service. A great spot outside in the sunshine. Love Lim ❤

Just had the BEST mocha I have ever drank, the gent making the coffee was so lovely and fast. Normally a massive sweet tooth and require sugar, no bitterness to the coffee, no sugar required. Thank you :)

This is my second home. Loving the winter soups at the moment and can't wait for curry nights!
Janine Kerr
Best breakfast and coffee in town! This is local sophistication at its best.

Great coffees, take away. Top choice for sit down breakfast, in Sandringham. Selections with a twist, not stock standard. Great service. Attentive. Would be keen to try other meals, ie lunch etc, but just haven't. Will go back, again and again. Reliable quality.

All ways appreciate your good service and pleasant staff!!

Great day at the Sandy Festival with Limoncello. Wonderful Halloumi burger, and great smiles from the staff!

I've lived in the area for over a year now and always try anywhere else except my neighbourhood. Today was the first time trying a a meal that is only a 10 minute walk from where I live and I must truly say WOW. Fantastic and well explained service, great outlay by the venue which make you feel comfortable and enjoy a meal with friends and the food was needless to say well enjoyed by both me and my friend. I am looking forward to coming back very soon.

A local cafe right opposite Sandringham station!

I absolutely love the food and limoncello, executed to perfection. The coffee can be a bit of a hit and miss depending who the barista is, which has gone in waves over the years. Other than that, it’s a great addition to the Sandringham shops!

We wanted to visit the very famous Sandringham Beach for a trial walk and thus, thought of having our Sunday Brunch here.
.
The Dessert Of The Day was easily the Raspberry House Cake that was DELISH AND super moist until the last bite.

The Chicken burger was juicy and Egg Hollandaise was out of this world (Swipe to see more )

The coffee and hot Chocolate were Delicious too

The most difficult dishes to make are the simpler ones but Limoncello cafe does them as if they were so damn easy.

Not much to choose from but you'll find something on the menu that suits every age.

Value for money, Vegan friendly, plenty of Glutenfree options make this cafe a Must on your list.

Headed to Limoncello for brunch the other day and had a great experience !

My friends and I ordered the Mushroom Burger and two Potato Rosti ( with salmon and black pudding ) . They all tasted incredibly delicious. We were lucky to have found a place serving brunch food so late in the afternoon. Limoncello has brunch and breakfast options available til 3 pm everyday. The black pudding potato rosti tasted delicious and was very filling. The mushroom and haloumi burger was incredible and a great choice for vegetarians.

The ambience of the place was lovely. The location is also very apt as it’s right opposite Sandringham station. The staff were extremely nice and hospitable.

Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend to anyone to add this to their brunch list!

On the hottest day till date...we headed for the beach town of Sandy. Chilled beer on tap, cool sea breeze, just outside the beautiful Sandy railway Station, this place is bustling with people.
The staffs are friendly, chatty and the ambiance is very seaside cafelike. The food is fresh and tasty but the portion is very small. We had a chicken burger and as Atlantic Benedict, the bread base are the small ones.
However, I will go back to this place for the beauty and the taste.
KITCHFIT
Great little cafe to come into out of the cold on a winters morning. Nice coffee, yummy breakfast and friendly staff members!
Had the Benedict (which I wouldn’t usually go for) and it was fantastic!
Thanks for brekky and a warm place to get some work done :)
Burgers Of Melbourne
Hidden gem when it comes to burgers, up with the best in Melbourne and there is a reason why once you know the backstory. Double up or even triple up, single was a little small.
Sean
Although it's pleasant location is enticing, the food is quite disappointing. We had the fried chicken burger and the BLT with chicken avocado. There was little to none fried chicken in the burger, and it needs more sauce or something to give it a bit more flavour. The blt was aweful as the chicken was cold and felt like it was plucked out of a can. The aioli in the sandwich as well was disgusting and bland.

Overall, below average lunch.
Places I Eat
Ordered the corn fritters - tasted alright nothing special. It came with sour cream and avocado and the choice of salmon or bacon. My friend and I both chose bacon however we were brought out salmon, luckily they gave us each a side of bacon for free for their mistake. There was only a teaspoon worth of avocado which was disappointing. The actual fritters were a bit mushy and there was not much on the plate for price. Will not be back again as their prices do not match the value of the food.

I almost always go for the Pumpkin and Quinoa Salad with slow roasted lamb and it's always perfect! The meat is beautifully tender and the rest of the elements are perfectly seasoned👌🏻👌🏻

Located at Sandringham, the customer service not bad as expected , a quick meal order the wagyu beef burger with chips . 20 aud for this set of burger ,it’s reasonable price. Yes the burger is tasty , thumbs up . Cheers

Late breakfast on a Saturday morning. Eggs Florentine for me and Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork for my partner. With coffee of course.
Delicious coffee and food - although portions slightly on the small side for the price. Busy cafe - fast friendly service - slightly crowded with the ambiance of a bustling cafe. $46 for two.

Score out of 5:
Food - 0.9
Drink - 1
Ambiance - 0.5
Service - 0.7
Price- 0.5

3.6 rounds down to 3.5.
Nice breakfasts here, fantastic burgers - both traditional and those a little different. Corn fritters with super-tasty relish are a personal favourite. Wine selection for a cafe is also great - and worth dropping by just to sit out the front with a glass
Food For The Soul
I am a big fan, the breakfasts are traditional but good and I love the burgers here... really good.. always a great option. Give it a go. Due for a revisit.

Out there food done right. They have an excellent, focused menu that's just perfect for all meals. A delectable blend of coffee, atmosphere and friendly staff.
YumYum
This is my usual Sunday brunch place and I always get the veggie breakie! It's a great portion and delicious every time! Staff are usually friendly and smiling. Can be a hit and miss on busy days though! I have tried most places in Sandy and that's the best veggie breakie! Yum!

Good coffee too!
My family and I have been coming to Limoncello for years! It is our go to cafe in Sandringham. Their grandè breakfast is the best value for money in bayside. They are always very busy and if you take some time to observe instead of being self involved about a 6min wait on coffee you'll notice that they grind their beans almost to order making a richer flavour. A trait surely picked up and taught by their previous barista Lee who is now at Merchants Guild one of the best cafes in Melbourne. Lee pops down to train the staff from time to time from what I've seen and all of the staff know how to make coffee which is more than I can say for a lot of places! Lovely staff too

Sat waiting to be acknowledged and served for 5 minutes and the place was not busy at all. Will not bother visiting again.
I would have thought that with all the new cafes popping up in Sandringham they would be more cognisant of existing patrons.

I can't go past the BLT with chicken and avo... I've had it many times and am never let down. It's really nice sitting on an outside seat with your food and a hot drink. Great atmosphere whether you're inside or out. Attentive staff.

Great place- just what the doctor ordered for my couple of weeks working in the area! Coffee here is really quite good, and seems to me to be the best in the locale. Great location and I do like the kind-of-dark room yet open atmosphere; great food, great coffee and friendly staff. What's not to love about Limoncello?
Sandman
Thought I'd give this a go, I usually go next door to Otto Epicurean.
Waited a long time for my coffee which came out Luke warm.
The breakfast was pretty forgettable too, undercooked eggs and burnt toast
I doubt I'll go back here.
Alice Yeah
Coffee 100% on point. Limoncello have been my (sometimes twice) daily caffeine dealers since February 2015 and they know their business, coffee is consistent across the baristas and the are staff friendly. I keep meaning to get around to stopping to eat but haven't as yet although the food that comes out when I'm there always looks good.

Great local cafe, love the atmosphere. Food & coffee great too

Very friendly staff, Limecello has never failed me! Delicious food which I pin down on not only the quality of the ingredients but the chefs cooking skills, perfect poached eggs, more than satisfied, would definately recommend
Winkie20
Terrible service. Went to Limincello with a friend who was visiting from interstate. I had eaten here before and had enjoyed it so it was my recommendation. We were never offered a menu and had to get one ourselves, we were never offered water the entire time and it was a hot day. The table was never cleared of the previous diners dirty dishes and our plates sat empty for at least 30 mins after we finished eating. The staff seemed too busy chatting to each other and friends of theirs who would stop by. The cafe was not busy at all so there was no reason for this kind of service. Very disappointing and won't be returning.

For a start, the barista is gorgeous. I don’t drink coffee, but I’m all in support of gorgeous baristas. And someone nice brought me water within thirty seconds of my taking a seat. And the orange juice comes in

Best Coffee in Sandy!. Or anywhere is the South Eastern suburbs for that matter! I am addicted to the eggs benedict and coffee here and can't recommend it highly enough! Friendliest service around and the set up is just divine !

Breakfast in Sandringham. Today I decided to head to Sandringham for breakfast and headed straight to Limoncello. Every time I am in Sandringham this place is packed.. there must be something good happening. I was not disappointed. A good selection of offerings on the menu and I settled for the Eggs Benedict ($15) which came with spinach, ham, mushrooms atop 2 breakfast muffins drizzled with home made hollandaise. The mushrooms were perfect, full of that gorgeous earthy flavor, the poached eggs were perfect too and the hollandaise was house made. The ham was abundant, in fact I could not eat it all. Sadly the kitchen forgot the spinach and after I brought this to the attention of the wait staff, a side order arrived about 15 mins later, I was nearly at the end of my meal. It was perfect too. Sadly I was overcharged with the spinach being "additional" even though it was left off the order originally. The coffee was good, full bodied and hot. The only disappointment was the length of time waiting to be served and for my meal to arrive. Having said that, the place was full, so perhaps an extra wait staff would have been good, there seemed to be only 2 serving tables. I would visit again.

It depends on 'the days' with this one.... Terrible service and food today: porridge was brothy, we asked for 1 slice of bread and got 3 (and charge for 3), greasy eggs, I was given a fork and a knife to eat brothy porridge.... Some other days, food and service have been good or ok, but sometimes (depending on cook and people on duty) it can get very wrong. Beware with this place.
Long Lunch
A Surprising Gem. Went to visit a friend in Sandy and was blown away, mainly because I thought there were no decent places to eat in Sandy. Had a bruschetta with Haloumi cheese and an egg which I have never seen anywhere else, but tried it because the waiter seemed excited about it. IT WAS AMAZING. Everyone else's meals looked great as well. Should be open for dinner it would do well.
Coffee_ee
Get your act together. Regular turn over in staff since new manager has arrived, average service, average decor and unclear menu. They will need to pick up their game if they want to beat neighbouring competition.
B.harden
Changed vibe- disappointing. This used to be one of my favourite cafes in Bayside thanks to the young, enthusiastic staff who were great at their job and who seemed genuinely interested in their customers. The cafe had a positive and welcoming atmosphere and was the place to go in Sandringham, despite the menu being dull and the food nothing special. A change in management has seen a dramatic turn over in staff, with many of these young employees replaced by older, incompetent and rude staff members. I would no longer recommend Limoncello as the local and will be taking my family and friends elsewhere- it is disappointing!
Cruelbutfair
Great little cafe with interesting food made with care and flair
Claire
Great food. Great location in Sandringham, cafe has a good feel and always enjoy eating here, have eaten the pork slider which is delicious and pancakes too, the coffee is average.
Daniel E
Limoncello can be summed up in a short sentence. Great location and atmosphere, Good food, average service and coffee.
It's worth going there to try it but I personally will not be a regular patron, just an occasional one.
James
Try the pork slider. Mind blowing!
Ramona.opat
Dreadful Service. A regular turnover in staff which is never a good sign. The food has always been good and the service has always been poor. I do not care how busy you are, I'm not looking for a chat, but looking to feel welcomed. I recently stood at the counter wanting to pay - I was COMPLETELY IGNORED for 5 solid minutes because I should have been standing 3 feet to my left! I was furious, the woman was aware of me standing there - all she had to say was - if you're wanting to pay, please move down to the end of the counter. DO NOT IGNORE YOUR CUSTOMER - EVER! After umpteen bad experiences, I will never go there again. Word of mouth - a powerful advertiser.
Hamburger Man
Great Food. Dropped in for lunch with my wife she had the pulled pork slider which looked delicious whilst i had the lamb shepards pie which was just sensational!!!, service was quick and the staff friendly would definately recommend
Nimmi
I went there with few of my friends nd it was not that bz... The service was quick but the food was disgusting... Very bad food. I will nt recommend anyone to go there.. I am sure The table sitting next to us was also not happy with the food and was talking about the chef inside the kitchen about his unprofessional approach to the food preparation.
Rob Hay
Went there for breakfast. Had the breakfast slider, was incredible. The bun was so fresh And the coffee was decent. Would definitely recommend
UdonKnowMe
Best soy chai lattes I've ever had! Great coffee and amazing food! Lovely service too.
Richard
When it first opened this place was a bit edgy and the food was exciting, it opened for dinner in those days.

It has dumbed down ever since as the difficulties of getting bayside residents out of their houses after 5pm began to bite and the weight of customers wanting poached eggs and bacon forced Limoncello to concentrate on the old breakfast faves - benedict, bircher and pancakes. Does them OK but don't expect anything that is going to wow you nowadays.

Still does a great coffee but has more local competition now and looks a bit tired. Reliable.
Foodandwinefan
Corn and polenta fritters with salmon were super tasty, and the Blt is MASSIVE!
Joe
Poached eggs. I'm in qld on holiday at the moment, I have eaten out for breakfast everyday so far. "Big deal your thinking". Well it is to me because no one in this country can serve me poached eggs and mushrooms with a cup of tea as good as these guys. That's a fact !
I kid you not Australia and all those from the uk, you want a quality breakfast get to sandy and eat at Limoncellos . The best I have eve had.
Food Lover
Probably my favorite breakfast spot for the last few years.
Generous portion sizes, great fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection every time.
At the weekend get to breakfast early to guarantee a table. You cannot book ahead.
Julia Eats Melbourne
Average coffee but consistently good breakfast.. I went for the vegetarian breakfast again this morning and wasn't disappointed. Perfectly poached eggs, crushed avocado, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach on multigrain. I'm not a huge fan of the coffee but the vibe, service and breakfast make limoncello a top bayside venue for a lazy weekend brunch.
Mansy Macree
Baked or poached. Since when are poached eggs on chorizo and bean soup classified as baked?
NomNomNom
Grande Breakfast best big brekkie I can find anywhere. Scrambled eggs are heaven!
Lee Rosenberg
Sunday Breaky. Very Busy, Good buzz, Yummy Food.
Elise Reid
My sister and I went in at around 11:30 on a Sunday and were ignored for 30 minutes as two waiters cleared tables behind us. No one even looked at us!
Girl
Never a letdown. I go here about two or three times week for break, always perfect! love the staff and atmosphere :)
ShelleyG
So Sandringham, so relaxed. Lovely staff and food is reliably tasty and fresh. Dogs and kids welcomed.

My partner and I headed to Limoncello for breakfast recently after deciding to try somewhere new in Sandringham. The place was buzzing and we were lucky to get a seat! The service was great, very attentive despite being so busy and breakfast was served with minimum wait. We ordered a Bircher muesli to share. It was huge and definitely enough for 2. We both love Bircher and are on a bit of a mission to find our favourite Bircher in Melbourne! Limincello's was pretty good but far too sweet for our liking, seemed to have lots of added sugar which a good Bircher doesn't need. We left the side of poached fruit untouched as we had our sugar hit from the Bircher. Nonetheless enjoyable and we will be back, but next time to try one of the focaccias which my partner was eyeing off as we were eating our Bircher
Dee
Deanne and Jason. This is our favorite breakfast venue in Bayside, we've been coming here every weekend for six years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Love the food, great service and excellent atmosphere. Sometimes it can be hard to get a table, but like any good venue in Melbourne, you can tell the success of a venue by the amount of people inside. A favorite venue for all the locals.
Dave Bonnici
Terrible service. Sunday morning, sat outside; took 15 minutes to get served then served last after others who arrived later. Ordered scrambled egss and got poached. How hard can it be?
Adam
Love it! Best place in sandy for either a early work coffee and eggs (any style is great but the poached are the best,) or a lunch break with some friends. New specials every 2 or 3 days. Great coffee, friendly staff, very busy on weekends so get a table before 930-10 if you want a bit of peace and quite, or bringing lots of people. Steak sandwich is amazing (extra $3-4 to throw an egg inside) dont even get me started on the pizza nights. Great mix of fornightly wines, very large pizzas, limited beer choices (peroni, peroni leggera, corona an sometimes james boag) they also do soups, pasta, salads and antipasto, as well as some scrumptous desserts. Highly valued!
Keeley
Good coffee. Love their coffee & best for breakky on weekends...just a great local to have.
Ayellayen
Give the weekends a miss. I love this place. The coffee is always superb, I usually stop in twice a week for a coffee but look forward to a late brekky or early lunch. I've rarely had a substandard meal for brekky, the eggs are always spot on and I can't rate the steaming bowl of porridge with stewed rhubarb on the side highly enough. But it's lunch time that really excels itself. A concise wine menu is complemented by a scattering of well balanced lunch dishes and usually two or three specials that are worth investigating. If I could have the pan fried gnocchi everyday of the week, I'd be a happy man. Mid week is the time to visit as you have room to yourself and all you can hear is the hissing of steamed milk and a gentle conversation around you without being rammed by some mum or dad with a pram trying to get the horde in so they don't have to cook six portions of scrambled eggs or pancakses themselves.
Mildred
Favourite place for breakfast!!!. Best breakfast in southside! Pretty good coffee, but mainly their eggs on toast is what brings me back! I don't know how they make something so simple so good, but they do!
Lanedog6
Great place for breakfast. Scrambled eggs sensational and place for coffee in sandringham in my opinion. Have also enjoyed pizza dinner night and whilst small menu, cannot beat the pizza with a couple of ice cold beers.
Fish
Went for breaky and it wasn't anything special. Not great menu options and the chai was average. Won't return in a hurry.
Gwi
Came for lunch. The service was terrible. Had the calamari salad which boasted a total of 3 pieces of calamari. Portions are smallish and what you get is average anyway. The coffee wasn't good either. I won't be back.
Mark
Good place. Great place for breakfast and brunch, brunch being my favourite meal. Service has always been friendly and timely.

Coffee good, juice good. The ham on the eggs benedict could have been higher quality, but otherwise all good. Apart from a Victorian couple (as in 30 years old but living in the 19th century) who believed children should be seen and not heard. One day they'll have children of their own ... and then I will really smile.
Niallg
Not terrible but not that great... As per title - food was very average but nothing special at all... servings were small and prices were high.. doubt we'd go there again.. also the entourage of small screaming kids seated at various tables (weekday lunchtime) made it a pretty unpleasant place to be in..
