food is always so delicious. great vegan options. service is really good.
I made the long journey over to Sandringham (first time ever to visit this area) to meet up with some friends for brunch.
🔆LOCATION🔆
Port of Call cafe is situated on busy intersection on the corner of Station Street and Bay Road in the Sandringham shopping precinct. The cafe is literally 2 minute walk from the train station.
Parking in this area on the weekend can be quite difficult. So if you do plan to visit, make sure you try to go early.
🔆MENU🔆
These items were from their previous menu, hence I wont comment on the costs, however I am most impressed with their menu variety and their price is actually very reasonable!
Chorizo Benedict
(charred chorizo, chipotle hollandaise, burnt pepper & tomato salsa, poached eggs, sourdough toast)
Zucchini corn and black bean fritters
(with jalapeno and coriander yoghurt, mango avocado & corn, tomato salsa, poached egg)
Pulled Morroccan Lamb Salad
(with quinoa, roasted carrots, parsnip, pumpkin, nuts and seeds, herbs, lemon labneh, pomegrenate & hummus)
🔆VERDICT🔆
The quality of food at Port of Call is amazing. Presentation, through to the flavours.
I had the Zuccchini Corn fritters and it was so tasty. I love the mango avocado and the tomato salso, it made the dish resfreshing and added flavour.
Please note the above items are no longer on their menu.
Delicious coffee and food! The outdoor area is dog friendly and service was cheerful. I would happily return here!
The hot smoked salmon was wonderful though slightly on the dry side but everything else was standard. I especially love the way the hash was made, definitely one to remember for a long time. The place has a very relaxed vibe and i would recommend for people wanting to explore Sandringham.
We came to this cozy little corner lot cafe on Monday so there wasn’t any waiting required. Food was served quickly and we felt the preparation has attention to detail. My husband ordered the big breakup burger with bacon and potato hash. The potato hash was pan fried with crispy shell with soft creamy potato filling. I ordered the roasted pumpkin warm salad with roasted lamb the the serving was very generous with very interesting flavours and delicious. Plenty of on street 1-2 h parking around and the place is just a stone’s throw away from the beach. Perfect!
Very cute place with dog friendly outdoor area. The staff is nice, too. Meal is really big in size...
Love this new bayside cafe! It’s not only beautiful and bright inside but it has an amazing range of dishes that are interesting and delicious. We had the pulled pork Benedict and the chilli scramble and they were both to die for!
Loved the modern feel to this cafe! Well-laid out with plenty of natural light and extremely close to Sandringham Station. Highly recommend and will be on my list to re-visit.
A nice cafe with a great menu, my smashed avo was really filling and tasty. I liked the addition of the hummus which was perfect on the dish, the egg poached nicely. All the ingredients worked well together and were fresh and good quality.
Coffee was good too, staff friendly and worth a visit.
Good atmosphere along with good and tasty food. The service was nice and everyone seemed lovely! I had the lamb shoulder which was tasty however it was a little dry. The salad along with it was amazing and well done. The slow roasted chicken pesto was delish and would recommend to a friend. The chili scrambled eggs was tasty and I loved the prosciutto along with it
This is really a great cafe, at a walking distance from the railway station. The place itself is very trendy, spacious, comfortable and has many different seating areas.
They have a large menu appealing menu, something that really excites me.
I ordered the chermullah chicken warm salad, and wow! Fabulous, really. Great mix of flavours, textures and overall a yummy dish. I thought the baked chicken was a tiny-bit drier than it should, but not really dry. Nicely plated, and the portion was generous, too.
I ordered one of their cold teas, the sparkly Toddy, and at 7 bucks the glass I thought it was a waste of my money, as it tasked basically of carbonated water, not much flavour. I thought it would be better with just ice cubes or the hot version, because this sparkly one is totally forgettable.
I loved their ambience , colour scheme, and upbeat music.
I'll be back.
Located just next to sandringham beach this place is truly incredible with a bright interior. I decided to order an iced coffe and their house superfood muesli and mango pana cotta. Which was fresh seasonal and perfect for a warm summer day. I would definitely recommend.
This place has great foods and beverages the people who are really nice to over people there make us happy everyday. The staff has great people skills
There’s a new player in town...
Port of call is big, bright and in a prime location.
I’m always out to find the newest kids in the block, and glad I found this gem.
Beautiful waitstaff and a delicious and unique menu. This cafe can’t have been here for very long, but already this place has filled its hue space. Another great place to catch up with friends for breakfast or have a coffee over a business meeting.
The coffee was delicious and the lamb dish I had was really nice to.
Thanks for a nice brunch out. I’ll be back :)
Well done on the new start up!
Stopped by recently in the day time weekday it was pretty quiet. Settled on the lamb/beans/asparagus/ egg. and it was pretty tasty. The menu is printed on white paper and will blind you, if you try to read it sitting in the sun outside. Kitchen crew looked happy and positive. Everything was fine but gotta try the next place.
There's finally somewhere to eat in the Bayside area. I'm not much of a sweet tooth but I would order these waffles over and over and over again.
Nice layout, lots of seating inside and out although as it is very popular, be prepared to have to wait a little bit for a table during peak times. Friendly staff and fantastic menu, I wanted to order everything! We had the avocado and heirloom tomato medley, the seasonal greens and scrambled eggs on toast. Portions were large and we were all very happy with our meals. We had a slight hiccup with one of the meals but the staff were genuinely very apologetic and didn’t hesitate to prepare a new meal, which was nice. Coffee was good too. This is my second time here and I will be back.
Great customer service!! Lovely coffee and a large variety of meal options. I dreamt about the Chai for days and drooled over the sweet potato fries
Can’t fault it! Unfortunately very busy and had to wait half an hour for a table but understandable as the food is delish! Will be back soon
Port of Call is a cute little cafe near Sandringham beach. Bustling with people inside, we were seated swiftly and served promptly. Gazing at the menu I was delighted with the choice of gluten free options - from muesli and smoothie bowls, to smashed avo and chorizo benedict. I opted for the breakfast board, which consisted of a little bit of sweet and also a little bit of savoury. It had muesli, yoghurt and fruit served with extra milk on one side, with toast, smashed avo, egg and capsicum hummus on the other. Served with a glass of OJ, it was the perfect tasting board with delicious menu items on it. Would highly recommend Port of Call as a great brunch spot.
Haven’t been disappointed with this place since we first tried it. Safe are friendly and helpful with the only negative being some tables suffer from morning sun with the glare and in the summer these will get very hot. Love the food.
Food: Had the avo on quinoa toast. The capsicum hummus was tasty, but there wasn't enough of the sundried tomato pesto. Not sure why it wouldn't come with an egg, and as a result it didn't really read like a proper meal. In fairness I probably should've picked something else. The mushrooms I ordered on the side came in a generous portion. I also liked the turmeric chai latte.Service: Really friendly and on the ball, I decided to wait for a table and the server kept tabs to make sure I hadn't been forgotten whilst I was waiting.
Ambience: The place was buzzing! The fit out is so lovely, a beautiful light-filled space.
Checked out this new cafe in Sandringham. Love the size & buzz. Nice coffee. Beef brisket was ok but super liked the slow cooked chicken, especially its pearl cous cous salad accompaniment. Attentive service.
We recently visited Port of Call and really enjoyed both the food and the service! The place was super busy but all staff were helpful and friendly. The all day breakfasts were great. If you want some unusual takes on breakfast staples you will find them at Port of Call. The only criticism I have is that you can’t book a table, so it’s first come first serve. Not great if you’re planning a special get together. Otherwise it’s easy to see why this place is already popular!
Open for only three weeks this little joint is bustling with locals already. Great decor, the stools are pretty but not practical- too small for people with bums on the bigger side! Food was pretty good, enjoyed the cheesecake banana bread which was not too sweet. Coffee was a little on the cold side but otherwise fine. My only real gripe would be the service. Having worked in hospitality in my early life I find a smile goes a long way and our waitress was not the friendliest person, mumbling and blunt. I’ll definitely return but hope for someone else taking my orders next time!
Came in with my dad the other day, I had the seasonal greens he had the zucchini fritters and 2 coffees each. Prompt service, terrific food, great coffee.
Lovely cafe in Sandringham!
The concept of store color is beautiful, inside of the cafe is spacious, and the taste both coffee and food are amazing!
One of my favourite cafes for breakfast. I like that they don't have a million options, just a well chosen selection that they execute perfectly. Current fave is the crispy cauliflower, which I've had about 10 times. Great coffee, chai and juices. Pram friendly and good options for indoor and outdoor seating. Only complaint is the wire chairs outside which are a bit uncomfortable.
Visited this popular cafe for the first time today for a special Easter brunch. I was inspired by what I could see on other people tables not to go the usual eggs Benedict and try something different.
I cannot remember the last time I had waffles and fresh fruit but what I ordered was sensational.
The combination of fresh pears, an array of berries , pomegranate , walnuts and a side of maple syrup and almond ice-cream was a joyous assault on my taste buds.
Lovely staff and fabulous fresh food ! 👏🏻👏🏻
Edit: visit today fantastic. Porridge superb, slightly warm and really really good with apple.
Chimichurri scrambled eggs had just the right amount of flavours to not be too much.
Boys had the french toast, delightfully too much for them to eat! All four very happy.
Love the food there. Lots of healthy, yummy food to choose from. Definitely in my top list now.
Interesting for us that our two boys also loved the food.... Despite it been healthy.
Coffee is good and not overdrawn.
Service is awesome. Very friendly and happy.
Definitely going back :)
Good food and coffee. Venue itself was a cold though, heating would make the experience more comfortable especially as staff were working in a jumper and scarf.
Great food, specially the brunch menu, the burger is awesome in this place.
The coffee it's okay, nothing really crazy, the staff it's okay as well.
The prices are accurate with the service and the quality of the food 👍
