This is good food, the curries were fresh, authentic,
tasty, and not oily at all. I had been deterred due to the restaurant itself not appearing busy but they were flat out with takeaway orders and for good reason. This is as good as any other Indian food nearby and reasonably priced.
I ordered take away from here on Thursday night on recommendation from a friend and I was not disappointed. The price was very reasonable and the flavours in the butter chicken were the best I’ve had in a very long time. It’s a big serve and was just as good the next day for lunch. Will definitely be back and recommend to others.
Beautiful food and lovely service. Came here for
My mums birthday and my whole family loved all the dishes we ordered, couldn’t fault the food.
I am very surprised about the low rating of this place. The food is outstanding - you can really taste all the elements of their curries and there is no dumbing down of flavours. There are also some interesting little twists you do not see on a lot of menus in Melbourne.
The restaurant reminds me of the Vietnamese restaurants in the early days of Victoria St Richmond - no pretence whatsoever, family run and a bit rough around the edges.
The room is just a square white box, a couple of wall hangings and that is it. All the staff seem to alternate jobs from taking over phone orders to cooking to waiting on tables. It is pretty random. And to be frank, the service is very slow despite the fact that there were only 3 tables full when we were there.
But if you can get through all of that you will be served some seriously good food. I would have given it a 4 or 4.5 on food alone.
Really like this place, the curries are rich and authentic without being oily. They have a wide range of delicious vegetarian options such as mushroom massaman and tandoori mushroom, eggplant options and the Paneer too. naan is fresh and the veg momos are also interesting and yum like curry Spice dumpling samosas. I recommend also adding the pickles
Pleasantly surprised. The eggplant masala was delicious, rice good. Wasn't so keen on the vegetable pakoras but the masala has me sold. Generous portions and food arrived promptly. Looking forward to trying it again.
Our meal of butter chicken, lamb Rohan Josh and seasonal vegetables (with a serve each of lemon and plain rice) was so yummy - authentic flavours, very fresh, like a very delicious home-cooked meal by a friend who is an amazing cook. Excellent service and prices, nice and clean. Highly recommend this place!
Hope this restaurant lives here forever!!!!
Flavours are divine, I've been there for dine in and take away.. Make sure you ask for spicy hot because it is mild in spice, very mild so great for the kids 😊👍
A local gem. We ordered midweek takeaway and were rewarded with generous serves, super tasty dishes and timely service. Our order of three main dishes and sides fed us for two nights.
A change of ownership three months ago. We were not disappointed - in any way. Excellent food - quality ingredients, no corners cuts, substantial serves great flavors. Keep it up, really well done!
Visited again 3rd April 22. I can only say the food was wonderful yet again! Sizzling Tandoori stole the show with impressive entrance, perfect cooking and a superb sauce. Never had tandoori like it! The Fish Curry and Goat Curry that followed were just as generous and delicious.
This is an excellent Indian restaurant and guess what - the owner is genuine, cares, as do his staff.
I believe that I have found a little Gem in Danfe Himal Nepalese-Indian Restaurant in Sandringham.
The food here is authentic, homemade and spectacular.
On our first night we ordered Saag ra Paneer (Spinach and Cottage Cheese) , Kashmiri Beef and Fish Malabar served mild with chopped chillis on the side and steamed Basmati rice . All three dishes were an absolute taste sensation and proved quite filling. The standout was the Kashmiri Beef with its smooth and complex cashew curry sauce and the "oh so tender" chunks of beef. Absolutely mouth watering!
We had to come back the following week , but this time we brought the kids along. We ordered the Kashmiri Beef again (of course I had to!) , Chicken Vindaloo, Nepalese Goat Curry , Seasoal Vegetables and a Vegetable Biryani, along with three serves of steamed Basmati rice, not forgetting the chopped chillis on the side! The Kashmiri Beef once again put in a starring performance with its tender chunks swimming in the rich smooth cashew curry but the actual best on ground performance belong to the Nepalese Goat Curry where its smooth flavours had us muttering " oh man that's sooo good!" . My daughter, who is a little picky with food, wolfed down the Vegetable Biryani without a sound and in a matter of minutes!
The service is humble and friendly whilst the decor is barely basic but the food, my goodness the food, its basically Flavour Town!
The cost of each dinner were $59.50 for the first night , three dishes and two serves of rice and $92.00 for the 2nd night of 5 dishes and three serves of rice.
This place has the best Indian food I’ve ever had in the country! Their chicken biryani is consistently amazing, tender and juicy chicken with precisely cooked rice full of flavours. The Saag paneer is also perfectly cooked at all levels and consistently delicious.
The vibe of the place is very homey and the owner is super friendly. Highly recommended.
Small, intimate, friendly service with delicious food! The tandoori chicken particularly was moist and super tasty.
Fantastic place, excellent food! Definitely will come here again
