Review Sandy's Fish & Chips - Sandringham

Steve Abraham
This operation they claim to be a Fish and Shop should be shut down. I went there with my family on 01/01/22 (order no. 100). Ordered 3 x grilled Blue Grenadier (no salt) and 1 x medium chips (no salt). Everything was laced in salt, strange thick batter around the fish for grilled, and the chips – SAY no more. One of the worst chips I have every experienced in my life. It is clear that the oil has not been replaced in many weeks, and it is of the cheapest / lowest grade standard. This operation is a total disgrace to serve up this standard, and the level of health damage this would have done if we ate them all would be severe. Stay away, and my message to the owners is pickup your game significantly!! If you can’t work out how to make chips you shouldn’t be in this game.

The most disgusting fish and chips I've ever had in my life. Chips over soaked in oil and burnt, tasteless flake. Place needs to be shut down or inspected by a food inspector as it looks like nothing has been cleaned or touched since the 80's.

Bought large order of fish chips. Spring roll and seafood sticks. Batter was overcooked on outside, oily on inside. Fish were undercooked, spring roll was burnt on outside, mushy oily inside and not edible. Chips were cooked in same oil and oil appeared to be months old as chips came out yellow. Could not eat very much. Would not recommend this place and won't return.

Great, traditional Aussie fish and chips! Friendly staff with an efficient operation.

Family has been sick as after getting flake and chips. For starters tasted of old oil. By time got home to Hampton from beach front the queezies started. Some violently ill and still sleeping 5pm next day

Will not return. Asked for grilled fish, came with what I would describe as a batter. No seasoning on fish. Rest was below average, except the south melb dimmy (because not made by them!) Pineapple fritter was ok. But all in all, very disappointing Sandy.

Good value. Friendly service. This suburban strip fish and chip shop is also very close to the beach so sometimes gets VERY busy on public holidays but normally is quiet.

Agree place needs a good clean, and a paint...had been going there for six months.... for fish and chips.... sometime average and other time good... a bit lucky dip....

Then arrived one night.. place was shut... no notice, no nothing.... check a couple of time still shut., then a week later open again...... then found a much best shop about 2km away.... so never went back

Just your average fish and chips shop. Nothing special, nothing bad. Good value for money.

Conveniently located in close proximity to the beach if youre looking to enjoy a nice, cheap meal by the water.

The service was friendly during our visit, staff managed expectations well by informing us of our expected waiting time in advance.

As for the food, our flake was crispy, fresh and juicy; chips golden and cooked well. A little bit on the oily side but hey, it's deep-fried food (it'd be a miracle if it wasn't) . Everything was seasoned well, so no complaints on that end.

Would we go back? Yup.

This is an average fish and chip shop with no outstanding features. It is convenient to those enjoying Sandringham beach. They need to spend more time keeping the shop clean.

Located suburb Sandringham . The customer service not bad . The quality of flake fish not fresh at all and the way fried really disappointed, very oily , seem drinking oil and the Dim sim hard like a rock omg ... won't can't back .

Crispy batter on the fish was very nice, but chips were chewy and not particularly tasty. Not much choice, but the place was still reassuringly busy as they cooked everything to order

Awful grilled fish, absolutely tasteless. They basically put batter on the fish and fry it on hot plate, they call it grilled fish.Chips were very basic.Calamari and prawns were ok. In short, complete waste of money.

They have some okay deals, but honestly the chips are not my favourite here. Try the many other locations around the area for better quality.

The worst fish&chips ever! Got two pieces of fish and scallops, couldn't eat more than two bites. They all were tough, dry, too fishy and even the batter was mush. Better serve fresh fish if they want to keep customers coming.

Have been visiting this fish and chip shop for Friday night fish and chips for the last 15 years. Never have we ever found one comparable. Would highly recommend the grilled flake (actual flake and not other substitutes), and burger with the lot.

Went there yesterday. Got a small fish and chips pack, and it was awful. The service was terrible too. There was a poster on the wall claiming that the place had the best potato cakes - it should be changed to the worst potato cakes ever! Worst fish & chips shop that I've ever been to.

Worst fish and chips in the world. Came here a few days ago. Waited over 30 mins. Chips were sour, fish was cold. Had a stomach ache after. Enough said.
