Review Le Phan - Sandringham

Karen Heitsch
Awful food. The food tasted like it was old. Oil was dirty and made spring rolls taste bitter. I mean how can you make a spring roll taste that bad. We could not eat the food. It was tasteless and horrible. No flavour even after fish sauce was added. Thanks for your reply. Firstly I don’t have a husband. Secondly stop being so defensive and blaming Uber. They didn’t buy the ingredients or make the food - they just delivered it - quickly and politely. Take responsibility and apologise when someone wasted $80 and couldn’t eat your food. Your response left a worse taste than your food. Be gracious.

Just be wary when ordering delivery via Uber. I was drawn in by their 10-20 minute delivery time frame. Then… After 2.5 hours, 6 unanswered calls, various reports to Uber and no delivery… I ordered elsewhere. Beyond frustrated. If you’re looking for reliability… I can say that Hanoi Hannah delivered on time and the food was delicious!

T/A was cold and looked ordinary. Pho lacked usual great taste. Chicken satay was more broiled chicken in light soy served on wet soggy salad. Been going there for years but no longer.

Amazing food and service. Le Phan are offering Free Delivery within 10kms!!! Every dish we have had has been fresh and tasty. It makes us feel like we are back in Vietnam! Highly recommended.

I don’t recommend this restaurant to any of you. They sent me old remaining food there was a fly🪰 in the soup and which was very unhealthy and not worth of price

Was a regular here for a 10 years or so though haven't been for a few years till now. Place has gone downhill With our children waited 1.5 hrs for food. Orders taken incorrectly wrong dishes brought out. The birst nest curry still ok, spring rolls tiny with no filling, pho bland, slow cooked duck was aweful . How do you make duck taste bad? They found a way. Was my birthday dinner and ruined by this shambolic establishment.

We booked a table for five, they wanted to give us a small table for four. It took one and a half hours for our entrees to arrive. They were wrong, and the waiter argued back at us. Then I was a long wait for the mains, also wrong. One meal was inedible. I do not recommend it here.

Didn't know this existed. It was quiet and very nice. The staff were friendly and the food was exquisite.

My husband and I are regulars to Le Phan. We absolutely love the flavoursome food and the personalised attention from Christine and Thien. During Covid-19 we have ordered takeaway on a weekly basis and it never fails. Our meals are fresh, healthy and outright delicious. Thank you to Le Phan for always delivering top quality food!

1.We experienced a very bad service from a waiter. He treated Aisian pp by the different way...so sad
2.the noodle has terrible flavor.

It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever been in my life. The food was very disappointed. We could not eat much because one menu was too sweet and the other was too spicy. You should check the bill carefully what you have ordered. The staff added menu which we actually did not order. After we complained about the bill, the owner yelled out loudly in front of other customers, argued more than 10 minutes and demanded to pay. I think this restaurant should learn what the customer service is.

This place has been in Sandringham for a while so must be doing something right! Staff are friendly and food good. Extensive menu with lots of options.

Fabulous food, fast service, great to take young kids. We really enjoyed it and will go back again soon.

If you’re after something fancy this isn’t the place for you.

A great option for some fresh Vietnamese locally!

Stir fried chicken with lemon grass and chilli is a personal favourite.

Very friendly staff and great service.

A hidden gem in amongst the shops near Sandringham station, we came for dinner on a lively weekday. The friendly waitress showed us to the table with quaint modern decor, menus in hand and table water. We decided to have the tradition Vietnamese Pho that evening, a nice cleansing dish to round out the day of food. Delicious. Lovely tangy broth, noodles with just the right amount of bite and subtly sweet and tender slices of rare beef. Bean sprouts and vietnamese mint add the aroma and texture to round out a wonderful dish. Having tried Pho from all corners of Melbourne, this is certainly up there with the best.

Friendly service, bright and comfy decor, and delicious food, I think that's a winning combination any day.

Always a wonderful experience and delicious food. Service very friendly and efficient. Crispy noodles and chicken a favourite but everything has been lovely. Love Le Phan!

We're glad, that we visited Le Phan for dinner. friendly staff and home-made cooking. Since I have tried pho in various places, around melbourne, I would say, this place makes the pho, that would not make you thirsty after the meal. Really enjoyed the dinner and looking forward to visit again.

Recently went to Le Phan..
We had this lovely Vietnamese dish which was called Banh khot!! It's to die for...I have had this banh khot in Vietnam.. so hard to find it around Melbourne. I came to the right place. Presentation was great too. Pho was just so home cooking. Not so sweet but just...

Very pleasant service and helpful staff, free glass of wine with lunch, and good choice of interesting dishes. Deep fried snapper was beautifully caramelised, though a little heavy, but stand out was stuffed squid which was beautifully presented and delicious

Always love dining in but Oh how I wish you guys used MenuLog or some other delivery service :)Your food is fantastic (pork balls!) and I look forward to the day I can have it delivered to my door.:)

Rock up on a gorgeous arvo after work with my wife. It's a risky move but it was worth it. The pho broth is thick and pack of flavour. Tried the sprint rice vermicelli and it's simply delicious.

Will definitely come back again for a meal before sunset.

One point because they are nice.. However there is not one positive I could find in any of the dishes we tried. It seemed as though the veggies came in a microwaveable bag. The fried rice tasted no better than the ones you buy in the 2 min bags and the prawn spring rolls had less flavour than the $2 ones from Coles. Sorry Le Phan but you gotta lift your game can't expect to stay in business with food of this caliber.

Been eating here for years and the meal is always exceptional as is the service, the girls provide a great and friendly service. They have catered for and made my kids (from the stages of very young to now being teenagers) feel welcome.

Food is good and cheap. Good little local but expect a little longer sitting when eating in due to the take away demand. Its a family run business keeping the costs down but when it's busy expect to wait. 4 courses only $26!!!

I am a fan of Le Phan. A hidden gem that delivers top quality Vietnamese food at a excellent price. Located just 10 minute walk away from where I live. I can honestly say I am am very thankful I spotted up this place an can gratefully say I will be here a fair bit over next winter just for the ultra tasty pho as its been awhile since I've had one that I enjoyed so much. Both my friend and I thought that the service was perfect and the meals were authentic tasting, so I can't fault anything here that we've tried tonight. A job well done by all and we will be back here again and let others know on how much we enjoyed our experience. Thanks to all the staff and chef for a good night for a great price.

No surprises here, just fresh, tasty, mainstream Vietnamese food in a warm, friendly, spotlessly clean family restaurant. Decor is muted and tasteful (no laminex tables and mismatched chairs), service is prompt and a bit minimal. The best thing on the menu are the Vietnamese pancakes. Actually, there is a very important surprise, the bill! We ate and drank our fill of delicious food for $22 a head! BYOW and no corkage charge! WIne could be purchased for $20 a bottle, you don't get that in many Melbourne restaurants any more. They do a brisk take away trade also so timing between courses can be a bit understandably patchy. I think as they gain confidence this little restaurant could get even better, but then they'll probably be savvy enough to justifiably crank the prices up a bit and start charging corkage like everyone else. In the meanwhile get in while the get'ns good.

Very disappointed - $90. Food ordinary. Not going back.

Pho good but not great.. Given I live in the bayside area, with Springvale and the CBD out of reach for a quick pho I am happy with Le Phan offering a fairly good pho as a take-away. It's certainly not the best pho I've ever had but it does the job and is around the corner! I can't comment on the other food but certainly better for a pho than other options in the bayside area.

Went there last night with the family ..... Ordered rice paper rolls and spring roll starters ... Rice paper rolls were average as all the carrot was pickled.. Mains we had chilli beef lemongrass, satay chicken and I had chicken/beef pho ... Chilli beef was chewy, satay's were unsatay like Andy pho was cloudy and very oily, plus chicken less!! ... And to cap it of the ba ba ba was warm.... $97 for that experience and I won't be going back... Not recommended at all.... I'm sticking to springvale

Never again!. The food was just awful. The food felt very watered down. I ordered satay chicken. It came on a steam plate with all this wow factor but the taste was like a packet mix of satay even it tastes like a french onion soup mix. The chicken was very bland! No peanut flavour for this satay. The sweet corn soup was very yellow and again bland.
I will not be going to this place for a viet experience. !! Very disappointed!

Very ordinary. Prices cheap but so is quality of food. So many other better asian restaurants in Bayside but unfortunately they are only Vietnamese.
Kel
So delicious! Really well priced, friendly service. One of my new favourites.

Bitterly Dissapointed. Normally I love Vietnamese food and am not difficult to impress, but my dining experience at this restaurant was simply atrocious. The food took over an hour to arrive while countless take away customers came and left. The spring rolls were not served with lettuce or mint and only a table spoon of bland tasteless sauce. The Pho was also very bland with no chilli, under cooked noodles and WAY too much salt! The Vermicelli was equally disappointing with dry meat and a tiny serving overall.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. You're much better off making the trip to Springvale for some proper quality food!
Chris
The worst!. I went to this restaurant on the basis of previous good reviews. Unfortunately my experience differs from other reviewers whom I can only assume could not tell the difference between authentic vietnamese food and hogwash!

The staff were pleasant but it went down hill from there. We're ordered chicken satay , chicken pho and chillie squid. The chillie squid never came as did the requested chillie for the pho. The chicken satay tasted nothing like satay and the chicken had absolutely no flavour. It's look and texture caused me to doubt that it even was chicken! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Yummy pho. Went here for a quick in & out pho today. Very tasty, very friendly service. Right balance of flavours. Would recommend if you can't make it out to Springvale. This will be my go-to place when I'm in Bayside! :)

The best local restaurant you could ask for!. We have been living in the area for years and have made it our regular stop for family gatherings, as well as the odd night every couple of weeks, and we can't seem to get enough! The seafood hotpot, prawns and curries are amazing, along with their service. All meals come in large servings with ample meat and vegetables. The decor is nothing to rave about, but who really cares when you go out to your local Asian restaurant?

We usually go to Richmond but given it's freezing & we live locally, we decided to try LePhan. So glad we did! A tad pricier than Victoria St but the food is as good. Family run & very busy ! Will definitely be back. Loved the chilli squid.

Favourite holiday dishes were fab!. My friends and I came here for a Vietnam holiday reunion (we went to Vietnam a couple of years ago) & were very excited to eat all of our favourite meals again like beef pho, Vietnamese pancake and spring rolls. We were very impressed by the food here! Tasted just like it did in Vietnam! Will definitely recommend to people

I really like this great local restaurant . Service is friendly , prices are reasonable and the food fresh and consistently good
New menu is fantastic. Loved the rice noodle roll with chicken and funghi . Highly recommend

Lovely. We loved our dinner here at Le Phan last week, fresh, full of flavour & the staff were very friendly. Will not hesitate to go again.

Fantastic, affordable, genuine, very friendly service, free BYO. Can't fault it. Try the prawn peanut curry!

Good but could be better?. The place is very friendly and family run, the food was nice but simple and i thought the portion size was small

it is the first time i have eat Vietnamese so I nothing to compare it against, maybe try somewhere else next time?
