How lucky are we to have this gem of a place in our backyard. I'll be frequenting the cafe on many trips in the future to sample every bit of the wholesome goodies on offer. And since I only eat sourdough bread, I can get the yummiest organic bread with just a short trip to quaint Sassafras. This bakery cafe is world class. The staff and managers are so friendly and welcoming. Do yourself a favour and take a trip to try out their fabulous produce.
Wow wow wow!! I’ve come for a holiday from Brisbane and we have just gone for a drive and arrived at Sassafras. We asked a local for a good place for coffee and food and this is the place they recommended!!

Couldn’t tell you the exact time I went here last but I can say I probably loved it. Currently at home because I’m not allowed to go anywhere but honestly it’s too cold to go out anyway. Coffee 7.3/10

There is a single line for dine-in and take away orders. We noticed this added unnecessary waiting. The chai tastes like the sugary instant kind. The 100 Acres Pale Ale was not as much of an ale and more of a lager.

Amazing savory and sweet pastries, fresh salads and pressed sandwiches! They make their own dough and everything is fresh! I have visited this cafe a couple of times and I wish I knew about this place earlier! Relaxing atmosphere and great service!
One of the most craziest bakeries in the Dandenong Ranges. Just go there and you want to try this and that & that one too & another one...
The only reason I gave them 4, just because they are a bit short on space and you can't sit relax, or you can sit out, which is not the best option for the winters. otherwise, the bakings, oh man...
Consistently excellent espressos and lattes which you wouldn't expect so far from the city. Super friendly service. Great place to bring kids or chill out. One of my favourite places.
This place is wonderful. We stopped in after a beautiful hike. We got a slice of quiche, egg and bacon roll and I got a vegan vegetable tart. All of this on cost us 20$. The service was quick and the fit out of the cafe was very nice. For the price of the food you really can’t go wrong. Since our first course was so good we couldn’t help but go back for more getting the pair almond and chocolate tart and the blueberry pie, this along with a coffee and a ginger beer cost another 20$ adding up to only $40 total for a big lunch for 3 people.
I would totally recommend this to anyone in the area or going through.
This is a must try bakery in the hills, great variety of sweet and savoury all made to a high standard with quality ingredients.

You know a place is good when they can make simple food taste incredible. Freshly baked sourdough with super flavoursome relish and ham alongside delicious perfectly melted swiss cheese.
I didn't know a toasted sandwich could taste this good.
Almond Croissant - $5.50
Slight crunch on the outer with chewy and moist inner. Also has generous orange zest frangipane inside adding a lot of flavour. It's not your flaky crumbly kind of croissant. If you want something flaky/crunchy try their breakfast bun, it's also really good.
Service here is amazing. Go early so you get to choose from their full range. I'll be back as there is a lot more to try!
Can’t recommend highly enough. Friendly, happy, hard-working staff serving the best lunchtime food. Love the toasted sandwiches with roasted veg and goats cheese. Love the pain au chocolate. Love the breakfast pizza.
Great gem in Mount Dandenong. Something for everyone with a wonderful range of fresh pastries and pies for the adults and a large and beautiful outdoor play area for the kids.
