Review Tempest Seafood Restaurant & Teppanyaki Grill - Scarborough

The seafood definitely didn't disappoint. The oysters were the freshest I've had in a while. The octopus tentacles were so tender and full of flavour. Service was superb as well. The waitress was very attentive to my son's requests. Kids sometimes asks for the most random things, like a brown crayon.... They didn't have a brown crayon, so she hunted down a brown pencil instead. Normally waiters at restaurants probably wouldn't bother with unimportant childish requests like these, but she went above and beyond!

The service was EXCELLENT! We arrived almost half an hour late. I had tried to call several times to let them know, but was unable to get through. On arrival they were apologetic and understanding. The entrées were fantastic, the cocktails were nice and strong. The mains, however, left a lot to be desired. The seafood was quite overcooked and chewy and didn't taste fresh, like I would expect at such a highly rated establishment. They gave us our desserts free to make up for the disappointment and the desserts were lovely. I think it would be worth going back earlier in the evening and trying again. I've also attended the tepanyaki section of the restaurant and it is OUTSTANDING!! I highly recommend the show. It's a lot of fun and family friendly.

Booked a table for 3 and was seated with a group of 10 and they were celebrating a 30th birthday. Chef was throwing knives, eggs, rice and pieces of meat everywhere. I literally just wanted to eat my dinner. But they kept messing around with games for the birthday party people. Vegetables weren’t even Asian. It was iceberg lettuce??? The lamb was fatty and the chicken was bland/dry. Definitely not worth the price.

Their soft shell crab entrées is very tasty, worth a try. Tempest basket is average (fish was a bit soggy side). The Peruvian Paella is okay. Let’s see how the dessert goes.

First time experiencing the Teppanyaki Grill. What an amazing experience! Thank you Chef Lukey for making our dining experience truly memorable and fun, you made us feel very comfortable. The food was so delicious too Shout Out to Merlyn whose customer service was very welcoming. We will be back for sure

This place exceeded my expectations way above the board. Ordered grilled octopus and wild mushrooms as entries and they were absolutely fantastic! For mains we got pasta and seafood paella - they were cooked well in their sauce and were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Great evening and atmosphere with great friends. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Moreton Bay bug and lamb was amazing. Our chef was lovely and really fun. All staff were very attentive and super friendly. Only requirement would be that the inside area where lobster tanks are and toilets , do need an overdue upgrade. For such an awesome place and location, just be nice to feel an overall classy feel.

One of the best seafood platters I've had. Lobster was amazing as was everything else. Great place with a solid wine list. Highly recommended.

My family has been here twice for dinner and the experience was wonderful! The seafood fresh and good sized portions- we were stuffed 💜 The kids were thoroughly entertained by Chef’s Luke & Yugi. Thanks Tempest 🦞🦐🍸🤤🥂

When we arrived the waiter looked at us as if we were lost and I had to ask to be seated. Food was very overpriced and didn’t taste amazing. I was then asked for feedback and the waiters response was to make me feel alienated as if nobody had ever felt the food was small. We paid 135 for a seafood platter which included about a half of a cup of chips and smoked salmon served in a little sauce pot. Pretty disappointed and disheartened. There are honestly so many other seafood places to go to that do not treat people this way or charge anywhere near as much for such small amounts of food. I really hope they can have a think about the way they treat people that may not look like them or their usual customers.

Myself, hubby and a couple of friends decided on lunch here at Tempest recently. I started with a glass of Prosecco, which was a bit flat. I guess I should have asked for a replacement, but I drank it anyway. Lord N had an Asahi beer, while hubby and Lady J went for a lemon squash soft drink ($4.50) as they were both driving.

We ate these meals: for moi, lightly-seared slices of tuna with watermelon, cucumber, mint, miso aioli and ponzu dressing ($34). I loved this! It was so delicious; tangy and fresh and light. Perfect for a hot summer’s day.

Hubby chose the mushroom linguini ($26), being a huge pasta fan. The pasta was al dente, which he found a bit too chewy for his tastes. He thought the meal itself was a bit small for his appetite, and he would have loved a bigger portion. He also said it needed more mushrooms. But he liked the extra flavours of capsicum, olives, onion, spinach, parmesan and pesto.

Lord N went for the fish and chips with salad ($23) and a sesame dressing. He was very happy with this large and crunchily golden dish. There were 3 or 4 generous portions of fish, along with the chips. I was quite envious as my meal, gorgeous though it was, didn’t really fill the gaps. I kinda wish I’d had some chips too.

Lady J chose the bug and prawn linguini, with tomatoes and peas ($35). This dish looked beautiful, and very tempting to those of us who love seafood. There was a large piece of bug on top, and several large prawns. This was a winner with Lady J.

Did I forget to mention dessert? I enjoyed the caramel apple pie parfait ($14) – layers of caramelised apples, Chantilly cream, cookie crumbs, butterscotch sauce and salted caramel ice cream. Oh yum! Deliciously salty-sweet, creamy, fabulousness. Lady J had the bourbon sticky date pudding ($16) with a toffee sauce, bourbon cream and vanilla ice cream. She adored this over the top bowl of warm, creamy pudding.

All in all, we had a lovely lunch with fabulous food (with just a few minor niggles). We had great views and a really wonderful waitress who was friendly and helpful. We would all very happily go there again.

The produce is locally caught and/or grown. The menu is seasonal, and designed for their local customers. The fish is hand-picked every day by the head chef. Oh, and don’t forget the teppanyaki room, which holds 33 people. There is a beer garden, and a function space too. The restaurant juts out over the water, and you can dine while watching the boats in the marina. A really nice place to while away a Sunday afternoon.

Went there for lunch and had a great experience dining at this nice seaside restaurant. We had the calamari and the miso flavoured bugs for entree. The bugs were very nicely cooked in this creamy sauce. For mains we had the platter to share for two and it was filled with plenty of fresh prawns, bugs and fish that were all nicely prepared! The only slight negative would be the pricing point, as you are paying city prices for around ~$200 to $250 for 3 people. But other than that, it is great food with great scenery.

Had a really beautiful seafood platter. I love the option of swapping oysters for prawns as I do not enjoy them. Really delicious entrees too. I enjoyed the dessert but it wasn’t amazing and was very highly priced for a very small portion so I would not recommend getting the dessert if you are on a budget but I had the most amazing time and the staff were so wonderful and accommodating. Will be back for sure!

Got a Groupon deal for seafood platter. All food was fresh and delicious. Staff very friendly. Great location sitting on the outdoor deck. Will be back.

A nice spot next to the marina. The deck area itself looked like it could use a bit of a touch up, the service was ok and the food was pretty good, we got the seafood platter for two, though i think it was a little on the high side $$$ for what you get. The seafood was nice and fresh and the oysters where👌.

Seafood platter for 2 was large (and easily shared by 3) and comprehensive - fresh prawns, sushi, moreton bay bug, oysters (fresh and kilpatrick), etc etc. was not cheap but was large and tasty. Nice to see people out in the sunshine on a Sunday afternoon in the more casual seafood takeaway next door. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends

Very disappointing. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. $5.50 for a glass of apple juice that tasted watered down. $11 for 4 triangles of herb bread with hardly any herbs and which didn't taste very nice. $32 for fish and chips where we only received one piece of fish and the fish itself was bland. It was supposed to be snapper but it didn't taste anything like the snapper I've eaten in the past. I couldn't even improve the taste with tartare sauce because the tartare sauce it was served with tasted disgusting. I asked for tomato sauce instead and by the time it finally arrived I had already finished my meal. The dessert wasn't much better (meringue with mango ice cream etc). The piece of mango fruit was bitter, the mango mouse was for decoration only (a couple spots on the plate), and the only nice thing on the plate (the mango ice cream) was a miserably small scoop that was half melted when it was placed in front of me. The only reason I rated this restaurant a two instead of a one was because the staff were friendly and helpful. My family and I will not be returning to Tempest.

Had voucher deal dinner at this place in a group of four last September. We were not interesting in Teppanyaki so went directly to a la carte section. Service was quite attentive and the vibe made us the comfortable feeling. However, food was slightly under my expectation. Pork belly in both entrée and main did not show the crunchy crackles and the meat was slightly greasy. Portion of mussels in white wine was mean. I picked up one of the natural oyster in the Seafood starter for two was not fresh. Seriously, the Tuna main dish was over-cooked (should be med-rare) and meat of bay bug was mushy. Overall seafood did not deliver the freshness. As a "seafood" restaurant, I advise the management needs to pay attention to the production. Do not waste your nice set-up....

Not a patch on the old Morgans. We went here a few months ago expecting Morgans quality and was very disappointed. I had the steak with a prawn topper. The steak was nothing to rave about , up there in price and not a patch on quality I get at home. I assumed the prawn topper would be cooked in a nice garlic sauce or similar, but the meal arrived with just 3 medium sized prawns sitting on the plate waiting for me to shell and thanks that will be an extra $10 for your topper. You can get better and cheaper down the road at the Moreton Bay Boat Club.

The food was really enjoyable but they could be paired with different vegetables that would make it more enjoyably. It also took quite a while for the food to come out. In saying this, the staff were all very lovely and willing to answer any questions!

Chilled platter was missing a hand rinse bowl, lemon and oyster fork.
The bug on the platter was the size of a yabby.
The caramelised scallops were very small and not caramelised.
Pork was 2/3 fat.
Most of the oysters were good.
Prawns were good.
Pretty disappointing overall.
Dined here with a friend on Friday for lunch as was visiting from Melb. Had bought a scoopon voucher so best value as we had $200 credit to spend for only $95 for both of us. And we spent it for sure between the 2 of us. We enjoyed many entrees - local king prawns both chilled in the shell with cocktail sauce and with garlic butter and gremolata, Tasmanian scallops, stuffed calamari, croquettes and beets. For main we enjoyed salmon & king prawn and snapper. For dessert we pushed our stomach and shared the pavlova and it was worth it and the food coma we were both in at the end. The food was very delicious and the seafood was very fresh and tasty. The service was very friendly and attentive also and the food all came out in parts which was great and as we requested. Would recommend this place and I hope to return and visit again next time I'm in Qld again.

Came for dinner on a Saturday night and the food was excellent. The service however was terrible. We waited for over an hour for our meals and almost half an hour for food. The service made the experience very disappointing.

Bit surprised at the negative comments, the service can definitely improve but it wasn't that bad. It's a beautiful restaurant and the quality of the seafood is the best I have had in Brisbane so far. I tried the scallops entree which was a huge portion (but then again $19), and then the scampi and salmon risotto. Salmon was beautiful but the risotto was way too salty, although the texture was perfect. We did have to wait a long while for the food to come out even though it wasn't too busy. I'm not really a fussy person, pretty easily pleased, but I suppose I could mention that I didn't feel like the staff was too involved with us. We had to ask for new water and if we could place our order. I don't mind that too much, but it's nice when you feel like the staff is concerned about you even after you have received your food. And it's not that hard to make sure customers have water when they pay quite a bit of money. I would still very much recommend this restaurant to anyone as the food was of high quality, I just hope Tempest management reads through these comments and uses them to improve.

We had a coupon deal for this restaurant otherwise we would probably have never thought of driving to this part of town for lunch. When we arrived we were amazed by the waterfront aspect & laid back atmosphere with beautiful staff. Seated right on the water overlooking the trawlers & various private craft we languished in the atmosphere & anticipation of the food to come. We were not disappointed either, I ordered a green prawn curry & it was chock full of huge succulent prawns with a delicious broth & fresh chilies. Friend ordered the fish & chips which came with a salad. The fish was perfectly cooked & the batter deliciously crisp, ditto the chips. There is also a Teppanyaki grill at front of house for those who want a more casual dining experience The food is not overpriced even without a coupon, so thanks for a great lunch guys

Really fresh seafood cooked full of flavour. We have dined here a few times since it's opening and tell everyone about this new restaurant. Highly recommend it.

A much needed dining addition to Redcliffe.
No longer Morgan's and it's fantastic. It's been renovated and the food is awesome. We shared the Tempest seafood platter and loved it. We went with a group of friends and none of us could fault a thing. It is fine dining without being over the top. If you love seafood this is the place to go.

Love this new restaurant. The seafood is very fresh and the staff are lovely. Enjoyed watching the fishermen come in with boats full of fish. Our son said it was the best steak he'd ever had. It's not a cheap eat, but it's worth it. Recommend it.

If you like rude mangers and under cooked food this your place. Added bonus mates wine glass broke in his mouth and they still argued with the bill! There is a reason the restaurant was empty on a Friday night! Been several times and they still treat you like dirt, have fun on going down the drain!

Excellent food, very well presented, with good sized portions, a little expensive but worth it for the quality. All of our guest loved their meals.

The service was horrendous though, waiting 30 minutes to try to place an order to be told they weren't taking orders for another 5 minutes because the kitchen was busy working on other orders WTH? And yes we had made a reservation. When the orders went in the meals did come out fast, but I think the wait staff need a lot of training and direction, they were generally rather casual and unprofessional, not fitting for the venue or pricing.

Currently I wouldn't recommend until they lift their game in front of house. We were even tempted to leave the venue if it wasn't for having a waterfront table by the bar.
Dreadful service and the food was very ordinary!! Expensive, certainly not worth the money!! Very disappointing!!! I guess the fact that the restaurant was almost empty the week before Xmas speaks for itself!!

A group of 8 of us went last Saturday 12/12/15 and found this restraint to be poor lacking in everything. There was 8 of us and we all are well travelled and all appreciate the bst food and service.Admittedly the staff were busy but the food was not great value.A friend had musells and barramundi and the barramundi tasted extremely flowery and not tast at all.I had Moreton Bay Bug lunguina for$43 I expected more then two scoops of bug. This meal left me very hungry. The desserts of were also below par.One friend ordered a chocolate mousse desert andf the mousse was melted and very poor quality.
