Review Seafood Takeaway - Scarborough

Diego Torres
The fresh seafood market is clean, well organised, with a good selection of seafood, and the prices are reasonable. On the other hand, the restaurant seems to struggle a bit during rush hours, the sizes of the fish portions are not consistent, and they usually misplace order items. The Easter weekend and the weekend before, we ordered the octopus with plum sauce, but sadly the plum sauce got replaced by tomato sauce, which is not a great match for grilled octopus. Also, during the Easter weekend we took the order home and after unpacking we discovered the salmon was replaced with some random fish fillet.

Looking for a nice fish shop then this is the place. So much variety to choose from. I went on a Tuesday mid afternoon and ordered grilled flathead, chips, salad, fresh peeled prawns and a drink. Food was tasty but the chips were stone cold and rubbery. Advised a staff member but all I got was " I'll inform the staff". No apologie or anything- bit disappointing to be honest Great view of all the fishing trawlers

Incredibly fresh, top shelf seafood with trawlers from the Bay docked just outside. Both the fish & chips and fresh seafood market were delightful and fresh, with lovely outdoor seating area and a small kiosk/bar for drinks etc. It does get very popular during mealtimes with both dine-in and takeaway orders flooding in, even during the week, so a little patience is required. Of course you can grab a bag of king prawns and enjoy the nice weather on the table while your order is made.

Our regular seafood market with the fresh seafood. We are regular customers and it’s our go to local fish market. Love the take away which has nice fish n chips and soft crumbed calamari đŸ‘ŒđŸ».

I was really excited for a chip burger but the roll I ordered was stale so I had to throw it away. I was also handed a hot ice tea. Seems as though the staff don’t really care about quality. Despite this, the service was fast. But my meal ended up being average. Gravy would be a nice addition to the menu.

Real fresh seafood đŸ˜đŸ€© omg yum, yea it has hard to find a fish and chip shop thats actually fresh seafood. lovely service too, beef burger was amazing too will return for sure

Great view to enjoy your seafood, friendly service and the food is great. If you want a proper fish and chips experience, no better to have it then at Morgans. Next time I'm having a beer with my seafood.

Bitterly disappointing. Made a booking for Fathers Day far in advance and when we got there, there wasn't enough room at the table for our party to fit. The staff scrambled and got more chairs thinking they could SQUEEZE us in but the embarrassment was too much. We had to leave.<br/>Management was of NO Help what so ever. His response was "O well, this is how Teppanyaki works"<br/>It was clear this was all about shoving anyone and everyone in for the benefit of money making.<br/>Shall NOT be returning.
Rob
Very, very average. Chips were fresh but the crumbed fish, calamari and prawn cutlets were nothing special and the seafood stick was like a soggy sponge. There are far better outlets for your seafood fry up.

Got the variety box. Most of the items in it was tasting the same. Only the fish tasted fresh. Very average meal <br/>Waiting time approx 15-20mins on Saturday.

I had an amazing experience on Thursday night in the take away side of the store, was greeted by friendly staff. The young girl was helpful and was very friendly. The food tasted fresh and cooked with effort. Was delightful, will definitely be back.

I had the unfortunate experience of ordering take away from here today and will never do so again.<br/>I ordered calamari and chips and a piece of flake. To my surprise when I got home the flake was not flake as it had a few bones in it which being shark it should not have. The calamari stank of old burnt oil. As I was hungry I tried a piece to which I spat out as it tasted worse then it smelt.<br/>If you ever want fresh seafood by all means buy it here but steer clear of the take away...

Had to throw the food out bc it was so greasy and oily. Very disappointed. We ordered potato cakes..prawns...fish..and chips.... First visit since the new owners took over. Won t be back.

PS. To the Management<br/><br/>What does a serve of Calamari constitute? Was my question as I only received 6 small pieces. The supervisor at Morgans agressively responded. Customer service would be equivalent to zero, if this is the way Morgans treat their customer enquiries than there needs to be a re-think as to why they are in business. REMEMBER! staff make or break your business.

My family and I have been coming to Morgans for over a decade and it has always been fantastic seafood. Unfortunately over the last 8 months the quality has dropped extremely. It has been 2 months since we had last been where there was undercooked fish and we thought we would give it one last chance. Unfortunately it was very poor tonight, the calamari was bland, the chips you could taste the oil needed to be changed, the potato scallops came crumbled and fell apart and the fish was bland as well. So sad to see a business that was once so good fall into bad hands. On a positive note I have never meet any unpleasant staff there and even with lines they are always nice.

This place used to be my favorite fish and chip shop in Brisbane. It was worth the drive from Brisbane for the location alone. We went there last night after a 6 month break. Wow, how the great have fallen. I could of gotten better fish at McDonalds. I can't not believe how bad the food has become. How do you burn chips ?<br/>How can you serve Softshell crab so bad? Was it imported, frozen from China? It makes me want to cry.<br/>Make me wait 35 min for my food and then i want my money back ? I have nothing more to say.

Went to Morgans for dinner last night, ordered a seafood pack & 2 pieces of barramundi. The fish was $15 each & was extremely tiny as well as tasting funny, hardly any chips & a few pieces of calamari. Definitely not worth the price. Both my partner & myself were very sick later that night with possible food poisoning. Will not be returning. Very disappointed

Very disappointing. Ordered fishermans basket. Could choose your own choice of fish. Fish smelt fishy. Prawns weren't very nice. Scallops were chewy. Chips were average. Oysters were ok. Calamari was good.

Ducked in for a lazy Saturday night dinner after a day at Redcliffe & Scarborough.<br/><br/>Ordered Some crumbed crimson snapper, calamari, & a serve of chips with chicken salt. Plus grabbed some fresh prawns from the fresh seafood section.<br/><br/>Order came promptly & was really well cooked & delicious! Only negative was they forgot the chicken salt on the chips... Will be back! :-)

We bought some oysters and some weren't fresh. Long wait for the order. Sushi wasn't too bad but overall I probably won't go back for the food anymore. Though the view is nice

I visited Morgans on the 8th of August - the recent public holiday. On this day there were quite big lines and we waited 45 minutes for our lunch, which was fine.<br/><br/>Whilst waiting my 1 year old daughter began to grow restless in her pram. We were seated in the indoor waiting area. I took her out and allowed her to hold my hands and stand. Whilst doing so she slipped a couple of times onto her knees, putting her hands on the floor. I picked her up and let her stand on my lap.<br/><br/>After we walked out, a short time later, I looked down and to my horror her pants had been 'bleached' - the colour had been removed from the knees. Where her feet had been on my pants was also bleached. I realised that she must have come into contact with very harsh cleaning chemicals on the floor inside Morgans. I quickly washed her hands and face and went inside. <br/><br/>I asked to speak to the duty manager. I asked that they replace the pants and also that the incident be recorded in their own system. The response I received was disgusting. I wasn't even offered any form of first aid. I was very aggressively told 'How do you expect me to sterilise my floors?' And that they would do nothing. I was accused of lying about the cost of the pants. I was very calm and polite when speaking and could not believe the aggression and lack of any form of care I received. I told the staff that you can not have an area available to the public that could burn children, particularly babies. It was almost disturbing that there was no empathy, only rudeness to this incident. I also told them they need to put a sign up if they are choosing to leave the chemical there.<br/><br/>Afterwards, my babies hands and face began peeling. I took her to the doctor who diagnosed her with mild chemical burns and wrote a prescription for some cream. I have emailed Morgans head office to tell them of this and received no response. <br/><br/>Overall I have never seen such a disregard for care for human beings. What kind of a place allows a baby to be burnt them tries to intimidate the mother? Then chooses to do nothing to prevent further customers from harm. I am of course reporting this incident to the appropriate government authorities.

Always go there when on Redcliffe.Fish and chips are one of the best and love the crumded cuttlefish.Added bonus is the super fresh fish market,so if your not into fried, take it home fresh and prepare a magic seafood dish yourself.Tip:If you have travelled a distance, just ask to have ice in with your fresh purchase.

We normally go every 2-3 months for a good feed.but yesterday there was no line up for ordering, unusual?.the calamari pack was very poor, not many chips & tough calamari.also the fish were very small, but the prices are large.its a shame.

Some venues in Brisbane are just synonymous for dang-good food.  Morgans is one of them.  There's a reason why when anyone thinks 'seafood', Morgans is the sure fire winning go-to!
Last Fandango
Not a patch on how Morgan's. the fare is now average, and prices a little steep. There are better places nearby, and certainly no longer a place to travel to. The wait is incredibly long for food too - but the highlight of the menu is still the fish.

Nice location with a harbour view full of boats and a playground. The food wait was long, chips were a bit soggy. Fish were fresh and prawns were good

Well oilled machine, for the 23 minute wait for my order (crumbed Barra, 5 whiting, 10 calamari & medium chips plus 2 sauces for $36) the kitchen pumped out about 40 orders. Expect to line up on a weekend if ordering cooked to take away & no line up fur the fresh takeaway. Barra was cooked perfectly, calamari cooked fine & chips were no fuss.

Fish and chips, isn't usually something that I would spend excessive amounts of time travelling to get, except my classmates told me that Morgans, at Redcliffe had the best fish and chips in Brisbane. Having gone there quite a few times as a kid, I definitely remember it as something I'd enjoy every several months. Seeing that the weather was quite beautiful last weekend, we braved the treacherous trek up to the north.

This is the epitome of disappointment. I waited 25 minutes for this.<br/><br/>Took it straight back.<br/><br/>To their credit, there were no questions and I was refunded quite pleasantly.

This Fish & Chip shop can be said to be the Landmark of Redcliffe. Whenever I have visitors come from Hong Kong, I will drop them to there for lunch and experience the local living. I love to have the deep fried fishes here because they are so fresh. As the rule of thumb, I will buy more fresh seafood through the fresh produce section after the lunch and make sure I will have a nice and spectacular seafood dinner on that night.

Been going here with family most long weekends we have had together. It's full of nostalgia and memories of me staring at the fish market awaiting our order. However over recent years I've noticed less the memories and more how long the wait is for our orders are and that the food isn't as fantastic as you'd expect from a take away situated near a harbour. The fish is okay and the seafood is frozen and the chips are rather meh. <br/>I still got for the memories but I think it's time to create new ones.

We used to come here when I was a kid back in the 90s and had family lunch. I guess the quality had not been great these days and the freshness had decreased over the years. Prices r not cheap, but at least the atmosphere is there. The surroundings makes a family lunch enjoyable, but make sure u know how to pick ur seafood. I cant say I dislike it due to endless family memories of good and bad of this place... Hence it's still ok for me
Daz
Disappointing. We used to visit this place a lot when I was a kid (20+ years ago now) and I always remembered it as being great.<br/><br/>But the meal I got last Monday didn't live up to that memory. Fairly soggy fisherman's basket. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. Much better value and quality elsewhere.....dare I suggest they're trading on their historical reputation?

Morgans Seafood is this tiny little (probably multi-million dollar) operation in Redcliffe just north of Brisbane. The “shack” that they operate out of hasn’t changed in over 20 years, nor has the food and not surprisingly, nor have the queues of hungry Brisbanites who cram in every single day to get some of the best fish and chips this world has to offer.
