Review Kinky Swell - Scarborough

Esther Hew
Food & coffee was ok, nothing to rave home about. My rosti was slightly burned & my friend’s zuchinni dish was over cooked too. Service was friendly & swift. Unfortunately, one of the cups that I picked up to fill water with was not washed properly, looked like it had leftover milkshake in it.. I addressed this to one of the waitress who did apologized & brought it into the kitchen straightaway. Cutleries that was given was not wiped down & still damped when handed to us for our meal. And on a hot day, you’d think they had the air conditioning on full ball but it was off. Only after I asked one of the lovely waitress then it was only switched on. So, overall it was an ok brunch.

Really great coffee, lovely staff and amazing food! Best GF brownies, ever!!

went to breakfast here and bought the pancakes and ham eggs benedict and was one of the best breakfasts i've had, would highly recommend!
Amanda Pintado
Great little neighbourhood gem. Met a friend for breakfast and we both went for the big breakfast. The serving size was pretty good. Extras were priced from $3-$6. The menu was pretty good and the prices normal for a cafe. Plenty of people meeting up with other friends which added to the atmosphere. There is parking across the road or down side streets. Staff were very friendly.

Nice little cafe. Food was fabulous and came out quickly. Coffee was lovely. Friendly staff. Decent prices. Venue and furniture was a little clinical but they’d obviously tried to add cute decorative touches and plants to make it feel more cosy.
Amanda Lupica
Always friendly staff and fast service. Great coffee and breakfast. One of my regulars.
WoW Perth
It is my favourite local cafe. Always satisfied with healthy and delicious lunch and coffee. Thank you Kinky Swell team!

Great brunch spot in Scarborough. The French toast was delicious and indulgent. Our group of 4 were all highly impressed with our orders. Some of the better coffee in the Scarborough region.
Silvana
Great food, quick service. Got our coffee straight away and food within 10 minutes at peak Sunday brunch time.
Vicky Li
Cheaper prices than most other brunch places and the serving sizes were great - would definitely return.

Benedict w/ Pork Hock was to die for. Super quick service, friendly waitress and even on a cold miserable morning, the heater was in full blow and was a pleasant atmosphere. Avo smash wasn’t the best but not the worst, honey was interesting. Can’t really rave too hard about an Avo smash tbh. Overall great food and experience. A little pricey for the suburb but would highly recommend!

Lovely cafe, great coffees
Love the food. Everything was tasty .Will be back for sure.
Its only a little bit overpriced for the location and I didnt like the metal straws .
KG
you can’t complain with a cafe right next to the beach, unfortunately you pay for that luxury in your food, the serving sizes were small and we left hungry, the waffles weren’t fresh, and we left a little disappointed, the customer service was great and the coffee was good thou

My first impressions when I walked in were it's pretty chilled and small. The staff were a bit bland and didn't quiet make me feel welcomed.

The food variety is really good and I ordered a mocha and finally for one IT WAS ACTUALLY A REALLY GOOD MOCHA!!
Mitch The Foodie
Delicious! Good bang for your buck here! Loved the big brekkie and make sure you get a large coffee! It comes out in the biggest mug you’ve ever soon!

Came here with a friend for breakfast on a Friday. Service was friendly and prompt. I had the pancakes with a side of bacon. Both delicious and enjoyable; however, bacon was slightly over cooked.
Arale-chan
Friendly staff, great coffee and delicious breakfast; love the mushrooms in big breakfast and lamb rosti. Nice selection in the fridge as well

Lunch with Mum about 4 weeks ago here. Food was delicious. Salad from the counter display portion size was generous. Gf beetroot chocolate cake was everything a cake should be. Coffee on point. Service with a smile. Dogs allowed outside

Hands down the best Arancini I think I have ever eaten! Our visit to Kinky Swell Café did not disappoint – if confit duck, French toast with balsamic glaze, crispy bacon in brioche buns and giant bowls of coffee sound like they’re up your alley – it won’t disappoint you either 😀
Frankie
Top bacon and egg toastie after a big night. Coffee was fast and they looked out for me once I had my coffees waiting for our food. Massive contrast to cafe I gave a review on which was do disorganised. This place was welcoming and very organised! 👍

The coffee was good, the staff super friendly. Quick and attentive service.

I had the poached egg on GF which was really good
We sat outside which is perfect on a spring day.

Food is perfectly amazing. Coffee is amazing. Staff is amazing and always happy. Tonic juice is to die for! Really recommend to visit. Quick service 👌🏽

One of my favourite spot. Lovely little corner place, nice atmosphere. Staff are on point with there service, friendly, well presented. Soo much to choose from the menu, makes you wanna order everything. Food is amazing, well presented, you'll never have any leftovers. Always coming back!!!
Sandhya1814
I enjoyed my time at kinky swell, staff was friendly, the food cabinet had loads of delicious looking pastries. I had the Arancini Ball, very different flavour frm what you usually get, filled with chicken, mushroom and lemongrass. It tasted amazing, had to share it though as it was huge. My mocha tasted amazing too, shall pop in again!
Celeste Celenick
Amazing food and service. I Highly recommend this place. It's small but really comfortable. Nice ambient :) the coffee and juice was also really good!!
Susan
Lovely friendly cafe with great food and great service! Wish there were more like these around Perth! Not to expensive (about $48 for two including some extras) which makes it great for coming back more often.
Kate Price
Cute little place that I didn't know existed as its usually closed when I'm in the area. Staff are friendly and my coffee was strong and delicious. The food in the cabinet looked delish and the Arancini balls were HUGE!!! I'll be back to try out some of the food.
Foodie In Paradise
Came here on a weekday morning for breakfast, this cafe was relatively busy. We had the pork belly bao buns, French toast and the confit duck Benedict. The pork belly buns came with a hint of spiciness which was nice, however I found there wasn't much pork belly meat in there, mostly just fat. It would be nice if having a bit of sauce. The French toast seems to be too sweet for my friend liking. The confit duck Benedict was quite tasty.
Tea and coffee were good. Nice ambient and quick service.

Good food, giant cups of coffee if you order a large! As big as my head haha. Staff seemed a bit flustered with a lot of people ordering coffee and waiting around, service was relatively quick though and food was very very tasty. My friend and I ordered the pancakes and the avo smash which we shared, the avo smash was more to my liking as the pancake was very sweet and a little bit dry. Small cafe but I've always been able to get a seat, nice atmosphere.
Chantal
Wow! What a hidden gem. I didn't even know this place existed! The food was amazing me and my boyfriend reckon it's the best breakfast we have bought out in ages! The service was chirpy and friendly. We will be back!!! The coffee was okay nothing to rave about.
Truth Be Told Australia
Fabulous little café located in a commercial building on a corner. First impressions, a little crammed, but very clean and good service. I had the Lamb Rosti, and it was divine. All the flavours worked so well together, and the ingredients were of great quality and it showed throughout the dish. Mum had the Arenchini ball with mushrooms and a sweet chilli sauce, she said it was the best she has had... Big call for her. It was moist inside and coated with crunchy panko crumbs. Coffee and juice were good. Would return to this place.
Jo Hoskins
Love this place. It's like my 2nd home. Excellent coffee and food. Staff are always friendly and happy to help with any extras or changes to orders. Highly recommended.
SweetPoison
Nice atmosphere. Cute location. Good coffee. Service was good... manager/owner a bit abrupt. Could see him bossing everyone around. We asked to keep one menu (for the photo hah) despite their being heaps and the place relatively empty he sent someone every 5minutes to get it back. Food okay. Small portions. Juices pre packed and Avo pre smashed (soo lemony no one could eat it ) Apparently bacon was mostly rind. I'm also a bit jaded as they made it difficult to order just sides. Actually breakfast was more stressful then it was enjoyable. Photographs well though....

Little place, not overly busy so the food came out pretty fast. I tried the Piggy Burger, which was tasty with chunks of pork fat hanging out which was delicious. The only let down is the staff didn't seem very excited to be at work. Overall a good little bite.
Dpizzy
No complaints here. Chilled out music, good service and good fast food. I got the chicken crepe and my fellow compadres got the piggy burgers. All smiles. The flys buzzing around screwed me off but that's all.
Rika MoonBeam
Amazing Breakfast and nice coffee ! I had the vego breakky with that fantastic Avo sauce! Omg I still remember the perfect combination of flavours!
Ashley Thomlinson
If your into food and coffee this place has it all - Coffee is the best in Perth, food is reasonably priced and good quality. Staff are friendly, barista's on the ball and the Chef can cook with a slightly Asian feel due to the owners background this place poo's on the rest.
Marina Antich
Love kinky swell
Great little cafe hidden gem in Scarb/Doubleview
Always fast and friendly service
Awesome coffee
Nice cakes
Recommend this place

Love this place, cute little local. Wonderful service with greetings when you walk in and out. Fantastic food & great options. This little local is doing it well :)

Came here for Coffee & Cake
Nice big coffee cups thank goodness for that it is exactly the right size, coffee was good. Carrot cake was yummy and so was the Brownies. Service is good and friendly. Will be back. Cafés around Perth take note you need big cups like these served here!
Jthomas44
Love Kinky Swell! All day brekky which is a bonus for late risers. Food is always really good and the largest coffee size blurs the line between cup and bowl. You really can't ask for more !
Conor
Quick, easy and nice food. Nothing exciting, but great prices. They are always speedy no matter how busy :) decor and vibe could be improved to compete with other hip cafes in the area
Foodie Fella
Nice, but small cafe. They do a good coffee and food is tasty and well priced. Caution on coming in larger groups, especially at peak times as there may be nowhere to sit.
More Than Nourishment
I couldn't believe how busy they were at 7:30am on a weekday morning. There was only one table left inside on a cold morning. Surprisingly the food came out despite how packed it was. I had the avocado smash with a side of scrambled eggs. The dish had a touch of palm sugar which added a sweet and salty flavour. Seems like a lot of places are starting to do this flavour combination. In this case, it definitely paid off. It was however on the expensive side ($21) for what I would consider as a more basic and traditional breakfast.
Eatingismyhobby
WOW! Can't believe I've only just found this hidden little gem! What can I say? The menu is amazing, really original twists on classics, but still reasonably priced (hello eggs Benedict with duck confit!) Seriously- try this place, I'll definitely be going back 😊
Evonne
Busy but relaxed local All Day Breakfast cafe. The dushes we had were probably a bit too heavy (spice-wise) for breakfast, but fine for lunch - had lamb rosti and the meatballs. The rosti itself was nice - a good thickness, nicely crisped and flavoursome. Mushrooms were well seasoned, spinach wilted without being overcooked, tomatoes fried with a nice char. The sauce was interesting - dense and tangy- not sure how it was made and not sure if it was housemade. The pulled-type lamb was dry, where I would have preferred tender. The meatballs had a tasty, spicy sauce but contained only 4 meatballs - so that was a bit of a shock considering how much it cost! 4 meatballs and a slice of toast (cut into 5). Small seating and somewhat cramped seating area which I think could be a little uncomfortable if completely full. Prices are high for the portion size.
Mark Knewstubb
My first 5 star review so they don't get handed out easily. I was super impressed by the lovely girl who served us. Food is well priced and delicious. Great milkshake and my companion was delighted with his mocha. All round awesome place for breakfast 👍
The Chefs Wife
This tiny corner café in the heart of suburban Scarborough is a great little surprise. It looks rather unassuming, but it’s very popular with locals, we even spied a Freo Docker on the next table (though I have no idea of his name!). The café is cosy and compact, so it can get a little noisy. Kimmy and I enjoyed the coffee, which is a locally roasted coffee blend and served in BIG cups. Just what I needed on this rainy morning!
Justsumgirl
Had a lovely first time brunch here with family on Saturday. We had pancakes, lamb rosti, avocado smash and the chicken burger. Everyone was happy! Great coffee too.

Little busy corner cafe. Friendly staff.
Egg & Bacon Brioche Roll🍔 - Yummy!
Vietnamese Meat ball -the sauce is to die for. Delicious! Something new for breakfast.
Flat white in a mug🍵 - Right size, Right temperature , smooth and creamy!
Very impressed, Recommended!
Kinky Swell , Kinky Lizard. ....Well done!

Came mid-morning on a weekday for brunch. My friend had the bacon & egg brioche roll and Halo juice, and I had the porridge and a cappuccino. I had a taste of the Halo juice & it was really refreshing. Coffee was smooth and no hint of bitterness. The porridge was absolutely amazing. Didn't try the roll but there was definitely no complaints! Only one small comment was that my porridge could of done without the green sprouts on the top, a weird garnish for porridge. Some mint may have been a smarter choice for a green garnish haha! But no biggie. Service was friendly & efficient. Will definitely be back!
LOVE PERTH/AUCKLAND FOOD
My local cafe just a stroll away...
Best coffee in Scarborough, yes its expensive but where isn't in Perth?
Plus you get a little loyalty card which I love.

The eggs benny are awesome, made with a 62 degree slow baked eggs big chunks of pan fried ham and yum rich hollandaise. The bacon and egg roll in a brioche bun with spicy sauce is so yum and only $8- my go to take away item.

Staff are always lovely.
If theres anything ever wrong the staff and chef are quick to manage it and very apologetic! Good service.
All in all a good little local cafe!

*I've given it a 3.5 though as the owner/manager can sometimes be quite rude! i'm slowly grinding him down though! haha
Dinnertime
Yummy scrambled eggs. Two thick bits of sourdough, heavily buttered. Avo smash on side was big enough not to be the dreaded avocado breakfast side rip off.
Coffee was nice as well.
As a local who usually frequents two other local cafes, I would definitely come back.
The one thing I noticed that sets this place apart is that the staff and chefs seem to recognise locals, very friendly and accommodating to special requests and have smiles on their faces. They actually greet you when you enter and look you in the eye when you order! Quite the opposite to being a stranger at any other cafe in scarborough you've been visiting regularly for past ten years.
All in all I liked it. Would come back mainly to try their lunchtime pho!
Prince Of Perth
Royal Seal of Approval. A true hidden gem. Some of the best food and coffee Perth has to offer. The slow cooked eggs Benedict with Ham Hock is my favourite breakfast expedition despite the fact that the portion sizing appears to have slowly decreased over time. I am not complaining though, just hopelessly wishing for more! Do yourself a favour.

First time going here for Breakfast! Service was really good, the guy that served us actually had a personality & made us laugh, which was what you want when feeling a bit dusty on a Sunday morning! Coffee and food was delish!! Will be back!!
What Bek Ate
The food is always amazing at Kinky, a good mix of sweet and savoury options, incredible flavours and never have to wait too long. Never disappointed when I come here for breakfast
2girls1breakfast
Amazing service, the food was out so quickly even though it was busy. Ordered the Avo smash and it was amazing. Perfect balance of flavours. Best place to go for brunch. It's exactly what I needed! Thanks guys, we'll be back soon!
Georgia Mammarella
Excellent service despite it being so busy on a Sunday morning! Coffees came out quick and were very nice.
The food was even better! We got vego breakfast and Avo smash.
Could not fault it at all.

Staff are excellent, coffee is excellent and food is impeccable! Highly recommend!

Arrogant and rude service. This is the 3rd time I have tried Kinky and the 3rd time I have been disappointed. Charged $6.60 for an OK coffee. I was shocked at the price. He (the man behind the counter) then rudely pointed at the sign that stated that a 10% surcharge was payable, then stated we have to pay $50/hour to staff on a public holiday! Interesting as we had a coffee earlier that morning in South Freo, price was $4 for a coffee that was really nice and the service was great!! Place was packed unlike the Kinky which was empty!!!! So Kinky the reason we (as locals) will NOT return is that you are rude, overpriced and the coffee is nothing special (in fact my wife won't drink it).
Janice Bryner
One of our favourite cafes for breakfast, manages to maintain a high standard which isn't easy in today's world. Was looking forward to trying them for dinner one night, but I heard they are no longer opening in the evenings. Still, we will continue to enjoy our breakfasts.

Great cafe. Consistency is the word I would use for Kinky Swell, consistently good coffee, consistently delicious food and consistently great service from the friendly staff and owner. All in a great suburb .
Sameg1976
Love it!. Fantastic coffee every time, friendly staff and yummy food. Also dog friendly wish is a massive tick for me.
Timcsly
Great location, good food, kinky service. Highly recommended well thought out menu, coffee competitive priced, service always with a smile or joke.
Go there you won't be disappointed.
J-in-Perth
I like it when I ask for a small thing (no ice, please, or just a single shot in that, or please don't warm the muffin) and that's exactly what I get. I find that too many places just do what they usually do and don't really listen to what the customer actually wants. This place does listen and always delivers. And that's why it's really grown on me. Just really consistent and friendly services, and good food.

28/06/15
A bit of a let down today, without the usual staff to keep up the standards 😟
ScottyH
Pretty good :-) Was our t.... Pretty good :-)

Was our third and final port of call looking for a place in North Beach/Scarbs area that we could get a seat at straight away - was pleasantly surprised. Long Mac topped up came with way too much foam but was still a nice cup of coffee - I added bacon to the pancakes which was delicious. The little grom serving us had a smile on his face the whole time, even as the cafe got busier. Cheers guys!
M.divirgilio
Rude staff/doughy pancakes. Wouldn't rate it. Staff are blunt/rude and even though the pancakes look amazing, there are two of them on the plate and mine were extremely doughy, almost as though they were undercooked.
Coffee Lover
Eggstatic!. Possibly the BEST poached eggs I've ever had! They look a bit weird because apparently these guys poach them differently than most (some fancy machine that cooks them for an hour) but the taste it to die for! so creamy! My husband is also a huge fan and goes there for breakfast every chance he can! YUM!
Zoozth23
Couldn't get a chicken burger right!. Ordered chicken burger for lunch. Asked for it with no myo, lady punched it on the order. Obviously the chef didn't read.
Cane with myo, asked them to change it.
They did, this time the chicken wasn't cooked, I didn't bother telling them because my mates were finished.
Ate the bun and left all the pink meat.
That was my first and last time in this place.
Doreen Sullivan
Ahhhmazing! Love your stuff!

Hands down best food I have eaten in Perth. I'm a pretty big foodie and breki is probably one of my favourite times of the day, to get a meal that literally ticks every box is a massive winner for me. The service here is awesome everyone is so friendly and chilled out, when I first arrived we were quickly taken care of and arrange seats. I chose the avocado smash with a side of baked beans and my o my what a treat!!!! Not only was the avo creamy and topped with seeds and goodness the toast was soft and sweet tomatos were bursting with flavour there was this AMAZING olive oil but sweet aw so good!!! Best place I have eaten at in Perth, coffee was insanely good an quick to come out aswell bonus! My deff new fav got spot count me in for more brekis and lunches here will be telling everyone I know about kinky lizard!
Burgers.re
Excellent food!. Couldn't fault the food and the service.. I had a big breakfast with lots of sides and each item on my plate was amazing ! I am often dissatisfied with the "fast food" type breakfasts that are out there but this was spot on and will be coming back here again! The staff were very friendly also.
Martin Osborne
We went for breakfast yesterday and will go again today. It was very very good and honest food and drinks, very lovely place :)
Keateswashere
Yummmmm. Went to this place for Breakfast this morning about 9am, it was pretty packed but the staff were lovely, polite, relaxed and not stressed out. The coffee was awesome and the food came out really quick, and i was pleased the lovely lady taking my order was able to accept my annoying food request! :-) Always a great feed here!
Carlyyeah
Delicious food, and good service! coffee is also delicious :) will definitely be back :)
Justin Blackburne
Pancakes were superb. It's hard to find a menu with refreshingly different options like these pancakes with coconut marscapone and salted caramel. I can see myself coming here more often. Well done

Bohemein Rhapsody. ... this is the place to chill, chat and hangout with friends.. and the four legged kind as well.. staff are friendly, coffee's great and the food's exceptional..! It's a must visit.. put it on your bucket list!!
Tanamite
Don't bother if you don't appreciate it when people bring their pets into the cafe, secure them to a spare chair and then go and sit elsewhere... Pets have no place in any cafe in my opinion.
Will
Coming from Melbourne and enjoying my morning coffee I can highly recommend this cafe!
I've enjoyed breakfast every morning since finding this Jem! The staff are always happy and have been more than accommodating and remember my coffee and food preferences. Had my first Green Smoothy today there too!
I'll be making this my breaky spot on my next visit!!!

Amazeballs. My partner was coming here for takeaway coffee for awhile and i am very picky with my short macs (not many cafes know how to make those would you believe, or most cafes burn the beans) and the short macs here are my fave.

During the christmas break we came down for lunch, i had the chicken burger and my partner had the open steak sandwich and an OJ each, the OJ being freshly squeezed was my highlight, the sandwich and burgers was amazing, i was actually really impressed, the flavours were so good.

Few weeks later we finally went in for breaky, i had the chorizo fungi and my partner had the big breaky, top notch! i like my poached eggs freshly poached and not cooked for 2 secs and placed in a bucket of cold water where most cafes do this so they can get orders out more quickly for those people who are impaitent and wont wait, its those people that ruin a good poached egg, anywho back to the breaky, as i said the poached eggs were perfect, juice and coffee and costumer service all perfect! keep up the good work guys, you will see us again very soon, and maybe on a fortnightly basis!
Coffee101
Spot on. Found this neat place while in search of a place to have lunch today. I had the open face steak sandwich, it was delicious. The sauce was a bit heavy but it complemented the dish. My partner had the man's burger and said it was lovely, although difficult to eat. The meals had a serve of side wedges which I believe were handmade, and also amazing. Wish I had some more of it but the meal itself was very big and filling. I also had an espresso, this was spot on. Cannot wait to come back and try more food and enjoy their coffee. Photos coming soon..

Waiting. I had never heard about this place, but went there yesterday for breakfast and almost finished my entire breakfast prior to getting my coffee, I was not impressed. to make matters worse people were ordering take away coffees after i ordered and leaving well before i received mine. Waitress made no sincere apology, would never go again. There are some really nice cafes in perth dont waste your time on this one!
Shunky
Great service and food every time. Shunky loves it.
Rosie
Current Favourite. I take all my friends to visit this little hidden gem. The food is fantastic and wonderful coffee. Meals are always very interesting, beautifully presented and lots of freshly made items to choose from. Would highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee break. I love visiting and am always eager to return. Great value too!
Felix Faust
Not as expensive as most of similar places but better. Enough said.
Perth Eater
$5.80 for a small soy mocha?? Are you kidding? Food is good but there are better value places around that don't rob you blind for a coffee!

-----03 Oct, 2013-----

I'm sorry but when did a small soy mocha become $5.80???? What an absolute joke, never have i paid so much for a coffee!
Georgia Kelly
Worst service ! The man at the till taking our breakfast orders was so rude , Iv never experienced anything like it . He took my order down wrong and didnt even bother to apologise when he brought it out. All food and drink is over priced . I will be telling my friends to not go here !!!
Tyson Teege
$5.20 for a regular flat white?? Ain't no body got time for that!
THE FORK
Utter crap. Cocky so & so of an owner/manager, shows no courtesy or manners to customers. Large coffee:$5.40 and vile stuff at that, heated, stale dishwater is the most apt description I can give of the coffee. Never again.

-----12 Aug, 2013-----

It's OK but does not warrant the hype.
I've been here a few times for coffee & breakfast, the food and coffee are OK, but by no means outstanding.

The seating is awful, some sort of footstool type arrangement, very trendy I'm sure, but impractical and cynically designed to ensure you eat & go...

The staff are friendly enough in taking orders.

Average, mediocre, OK etc but nothing to write home about.
Skcapp
Very nice coffee!! I was pleasantly surprised!
Emmlou
Love it!. Kinky Lizard has been my favourite spot for breakfast ever since it opened. The service is good, and the food is made just how you ask. The pancakes are d! My favourite is scrambled eggs with beans on the side. I think they've recently changed chefs though, and servings seem to have become smaller? Still delicious none the less! I just wish people hadn't found out about it...it was my little secret and i loved it!
Grant Robson
Special Spot!!. I have been going to this little gem almost since it opened. Go every weekend mainly for takeaway coffee and breakfast now and then.
Nothing is too much trouble and its amazing how they all keep so calm and accomodate even the trickiest of orders...................I stood behind a customer on the weekend who wanted a "half serve of something........wtf......order the full serve!!......then wanted some odd coffee delivered to her, "just as i am about to finish my food"..............i had to laugh.........its a cafe people, not your personal kitchen!!. But the staff here smiled, maybe a little tongue in cheek, and delivered it perfectly!! lucky customer........... Must have made my take away coffee order seem like a breeze! Consistently happy staff and consistently great coffee!

Nice waitress, grumpy Maitre D. We went as a large group for an early breakfast for the first time. Although by the time we left he had cheered up and was genuinely pleasant, the Maitre D was initially rude and less than helpful to us with table set up etc.(we did it ourselves, and then got our own menus and worked out it was "order at the counter" as no one thought to tell us despite an empty restaurant). That said, the waitress taking our order was very sweet. Overall, the coffee was good and the food was tasty. Would recommend the berry hotcakes as extra yum! By 8.45 the place was bustling so it's maybe a better venue for smaller groups ( 6 people or less) as it is not a large café and the tables are teeny.
Rob DT
Yum Yum Yum. This place is the best. My wife and I venture out for breakfast a fair bit. We always end up comparing it to Kinky Lizard, we love this place. It's really simple, good quality food that's served "hot" for anyone other café owners reading this, and "Hot" coffee! It's not that hard is it! The service is awesome the setting is easy enough for us to get the pram in. What more can you want.
Aztecs
Special diet needs ..... don't bother. Had a table booked for 12 on Sat, were a couple of minutes late and they had let the table go. They did arrange another table but when a couple of the group asked for particular dietary requests the response from the waiter is that much of the food is pre-prepared and it would annoy the chef to ask. They had coffee for breakfast and no meal. I, nor any of the group will be recommending this cafe or returning.
Kiki
Really friendly staff and delicious coffee. Not overly thrilled by food and prices a bit steep considering serving sizes.
Robyn Cross
Started with a cooffee at kinky swell before it officially opened & have continued to go for the warm friendly atmosphere. Many thanks to Dan (best chef) and Mia(best coffee maker in town).
The original recipes
The best eggs
Dan does them just how you ask
Barry O'Callaghan
Really good coffee and a varied breakfast menu, expensive but worth it.
Kaykay
Yum breakfasts, and decently priced... Defiantly go here over Boho. Coffee here is okay, room for improvement, but the food makes up for it.
Anne
Yummy Breakfast!. Kinky Lizard is our staple place for a really tasty eggs benedict. It's usually consistently great; the hollandaise is creamy, eggs poached to perfection and bacon/ham cooked well.
Presentation is really good too.
They without a doubt have the best fresh apple juice here, and the coffee is also really good which I'm pretty sure they've won awards for.
Customer service is always great. We've always been greeted with a smile and they're always looking for ways to make your experience pleasant.
The one or two times we've had some issues with our food have always been replaced/fixed efficiently and without complaint.
Prices are quite high - however the service and what you get is worth it.
The only downfall is the size of the place. On weekends it's difficult to find somewhere to sit. We've had to leave and go somewhere else on occasions however when we have waited we've always been glad we did.

Looked on a food blog of breakfast in Perth and decided to go on a positive review from the author of the blog. I am glad I did, the coffee was great, it wasn't busy at 8am so didn't have to wait for a seat. A steady stream of people coming to get take away coffees. Dog friendly & they provide water bowls for them.
I had the confit leek scrambled eggs, was lovely and just enough! Left feeling satisfied & not bursting. My friends had the carnivores breakfast & was pleased - only negative he had was the meatballs were a little cold but he still managed to clear his plate. Would go back again.
Simon
A local favourite. Coffee and meals always good, fast service and also dog friendly with water bowls supplied!
Dr Ross
Fantastic Coffee Bar. What a change to visit a coffee bar in Perth which actually has fantastic food, a great ambience and superb service. We visited for breakfast and loved the All Day option. The food was great but what set the cafe apart from others we have visited across the city is the fact that there is actually service here! Staff spoke to us and asked us if our meals were ok and others cleared our plates away as soon as we had finished with them. This art of good service is definitely lost in Perth, but not at the Kinky Lizard. I recommend this place with confidence.

I went to kinky lizard swell a few weeks ago for breakfast. I ordered eggs Benedict, it was amazing. The coffee was also great. Definitely a new favourite :)

Great coffee. Always a good place to stop off and have a coffee at. I've had lunch here a few times, they make nice salads. I had an amazing pistachio friand here a while ago with my coffee, which I can recommend. Friendly staff, very helpful. I'm pleased that the Scarborough area is becoming more cosmopolitan and able to offer more choice in somewhere to get a decent coffee.

Good Breakfast. The cafe is a bit too small for my liking but really great customer service and breakfast!!
