Review Cocolat - Scarborough

Adrian M
Like the name suggests, this cafe is for people with a sweet tooth. There's plenty of cakes, gelato and cold and hot drinks on offer including, but not limited to, chocolate flavours and varieties. Whilst they do tea and coffee, many of their menu items are quite decadent. Cocolat is located by the beach with good views, and has both indoor and al fresco seats. However, depending on the time of day, the sun could be shining directly on you both indoors and out. On a not so busy afternoon, the service we had was friendly and relatively fast.

Really enjoyed our meal. It's a desserts place first and foremost but there's a good selection of savouries including quiches, wraps, pies. I had a sausage roll, followed by the banana and caramel waffle with a scoop of strawberry balsamic icecream (yum!) and a delicious hot chocolate. The staff were nice and friendly and there is plenty of space outside for prams. It's a short walk from the Whale Playground which the kids loved. Keen on returning to try another dessert!

Chocolat is an awesome little cafe on Scarborough beach. Stopped here for coffee with friends, the flat white and soy latte were both really good. The staff are incredibly friendly and really helpful. Through taking orders to drink delivery the customer experience was great. Very personable and lots of smiles. The food is amazing too, although they have no caramel slices, which was a surprise. Plenty of gelato, cakes, chocolate and other delicious goodies. Well worth a visit!

Wonderful view and pleasant food options. First time here for a nice brunch. Ordered crapes with Salomon and omelette with cheese, spinach and tomato - minus the meats normally included. Omlette was fluffy however tomato chunks quite large, personal preference for smaller. Very limited on the spinach especially when expecting extra due to ham removal and advised extra OK. Crape wasn't great, Salomon was very think steak like and not whats expected in a light crepe meal, wife didn't finish. Mocha and coffee was nice - added cream at no charge is great too. Good selection of cakes and sweet delights which will try another time.

Wouldn't return. This place has great views but average brekkie. The acai bowl wasn't nice and frozen like you'd expect. It was more of a thick soup texture. The chia pudding was way too sweet and the coffee was ok but nothing special. The only thing we liked was the fluffy eggs in the crossiant on the big brekkie.

Friendly staff and really beautiful location right by the beach or pool. Fantastic savoury cafe menu and all the yummy desserts and ice cream available. Had the hot chocolate and waffles which was really rich and tasty. Great place to relax by the sunset to watch windsurfing in action.

Delicious Gluten Free High Tea What's one thing that your average coeliac sufferer craves above all else? Variety. If you've ever been out with a coeliac and expect them to be grateful that the cafe has orange and almond cake, then you might have to think again. However, at the new Cocolat cafe adjoined to Scarborough Swimming Pool (accessible inside and out the pool) this is not a problem with the GF High Tea! Order in advance and then turn up on the day with your hunger and enjoy. Please note that this review is for the Gluten Free High Tea. Others will have to review the normal high tea but I'm sure they'll step up to the task. We were seated, choosing to brave the slightly coolish conditions outside, but rewarded by exceptional views of Wadjemup and the ocean, and the colourful passersby of a Saturday afternoon in the sun. The staff were happy, friendly and polite and offered a choice of tea or coffee; we chose their chai offering, and were informed that we should request a refill when needed. It was a generous pot and well flavoured. Presently the three tiered offering was brought to the table and we started on the savoury wraps. So good! Delicately flavoured smoked salmon, beetroot hummus and other ingredients teased the palate and made a substantial dent in our hunger. Then we tackled the top tier - an intriguing citrus pistachio slice was the star of the show here but the other slice and the surprisingly light chocolate spheres (usually this sort of thing is really heavy) were a lovely variety of flavours. The strawberries and cream scattered about made great palate refreshers! Lastly, what I mistakenly thought to be some sort of lamington. Well it was square, and had chocolate and coconut, I could be forgiven. No no no, it was a very rich, heavy, chocolate mousse cake, I think, and it was incredible. Our tea was promptly refreshed upon our request, and our well being was checked in a timely fashion. This was a lovely high tea and we look forward to having it again. For $50 for two people, gluten free, is a great deal, especially for what you're getting! The normal high tea is $45 so bear that in mind too and let us all know when you try it. As an aside, the coffee here is also very good. Thank you Cocolat, for giving coeliacs some delicious, lovely variety.

Cocolat is a cafe, dessert bar at the heart of the newly refurbished Scarborough Beach esplanade. It is next to the lido, with wonderful panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. I visited this weekend, with some friends. Previously I came here a year ago (and was not overly impressed – it was nice cafe, but didn’t have the wow factor).

This place is AMAZING! They opened in the evening specially for us to host a surprise leaving party for a friend who is moving to England. We all had the high tea which was delicious and the service was so good, from the initial contact through to the event. Highly recommend!!

Are we talking pool level at Scarb? OMG the coffee is bad . Waited TWENTY MINUTES for 2 coffees to be made. Maybe there is no incentive for good service when you have a captive clientele. What is it with Perth and the acceptance of such poor service. Free consultants advice: good fare, good service done consistently well ensures success in your business.

Hot chocolates and ice cream, can’t go wrong. I like how quiet it was - we were there early in the morning on a weekday - and the service is delightful.

Popped into this cafe on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The cafe was not that busy, so we easily found a table. Ordered two coffees and two pieces of cake / tart and it came to about $31 - tad expensive for what you get. Coffee was ok but nothing to rave about. Wouldn’t return.
