One of Melbourne's best dumpling joint hidden in plain sight at Scoresby, what a gem !! Bowled me over with their reasonably priced, scrumptious dumplings with generous fillings. Will definitely come back often.
Great dumplings, spring rolls and BBQ pork buns. Quick and friendly service. My new regular dinner place.
Best dumplings around! Food is always fantastic and the serving are generous and well priced. Highly recommend visiting this little gem.
I've had dumplings all over the world. These guys are really up there with the best. Will definitely return.
Fantastic meal, fast, friendly service. So glad you've opened in Scoresby Village.
Pan fried dumplings are sensational!!!
Had the pan fried dumplings on opening day and they were amazing. Great fast friendly service.
Absolutely delicious food! 100% highly recommended and a permanent customer
Amazing Dumplings! We organised a dumpling day lunch at our work and we were not disappointed. Everyone loved them. The staff were an amazing help when placing such a large order and were quick to respond to any of my messages.
The day was a success and we will definitely do it again soon.
Great food! Pan fry pork dumplings must try, so delicious!
Dumplings were delicious! We enjoyed everything. So pleased you have opened in Scoresby!
Had them last night - beautiful! Dumplings, rice and noodles!!
Has some of the best dumplings. Though the vegetarian options are minimal, the taste is good. There is no after taste, which I find at other dumpling places.
We have been here multiple times, my wife and child love it!
Truly in love with their dumplings, whether its the pork, chicken and prawn or vegetable (have yet to have the beef). All are filled perfectly with the thinest yet complimentary casing to the item. Steamed are definitely the way to go.
Their beef brisket is deliciously made, beautiful sauce surrounding it, soft and tender.
We also quite enjoy their spicy and salt pepper chicken spare ribs which goes down a treat with the little one.
Will continue to go to this little gem that I feel brought lunch time outings to the suburb.
This bustling little spot is such a great find in Scoresby where there aren't the best options for foodies if I am to be honest (challenge me)!
Dumpling De Master delivers on taste, variety, value for money portion sizes, cleanliness and great service. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. Every dish that I've tried, I have loved. The go-to dishes are the laksas and any variety of the dumplings. Chilli oil on the tables ready for you to lather all over the already tasty food.
They have a $9.90 lunch special Mon-Fri which is an extra bonus as the full prices of the dishes are not much more.
Ordered takeaway twice here and have been really happy with it. Dumplings are really nice here, cooked perfectly, succulent and lots of filling. Their chilli oil is awesome and you don’t have to ask them to give you the dumpling condiments- their always already included. Stir fried dishes have been a little lack lustre but tastes fresh and meat quite tender. Fried rice was a bit ordinary. Steamed pork buns, curry puff, bbq pork pie also nice and tasty. One of the nicer Asian takeaways in the area. Staff are nice and pleasant too and restaurant looks clean.
Steamed chicken and prawn dumplings are amazing.
Always get these for a Friday work lunch and never disappointed. They are short and curt on the phone when they take your order but you don't expect over the top friendly service at a cheap Asian restaurant anyway.
Excellent customer service! Their pan fried dumplings are yummy and other dishes such as hokkien noodles are nicely done too!! Very spacious in the restaurant.
Affordable, good tasting dumplings.
Can be inconsistent in quality sometimes over the 4 times I've been here, but still great overall.
I'm a fan of crispy chicken, but found theirs a bit salty.
The beef brisket had great broth, but pieces of beef were small, and noodles were too hard for my liking.
I did not realise they even had tea which was provided upon asking.
What an amazing weekend discovery thanks to Mojomomo for his recommendation to check out Dumpling De Master. For the discerning foodie, perhaps one of the things that stood out was their rather extensive menu range and I'm not talking about the number of items. Despite their name, this place offers more than dumplings and they include Hong Kong dim sum (casual yum cha) and Malaysian / Singaporean hawker-style rice and noodles.
The seafood curry laksa was well balanced between the creaminess of the coconut and curry spice. The mussels, prawns and fish were fresh, generous and also included stuffed tofu and eggplant. Next came the dim sum. The pastry in the BBQ pork puff simply melted in your mouth. Again good balance between the pastry and BBQ pork fillings. Here's a quick segue - have you ever noticed sometimes when the dim sum skin becomes quite sticky when you try to pick it up? That's because they have been sitting on the steamer for a very long time. With these guys, we could easily pick up each individual dim sum. It was done fresh upon order. Finally the fillings and these also apply to the dumplings. Hand on heart you can tell they use quality ingredients and it's not full of fatty meat / fillers.
Perhaps the only critique I can offer is the lack of the yum cha chilli sauce. Other than that, fantastic and efficient service. Very roomy and pram friendly. Lots of parking around. Will definitely be back.
Delicious dumplings! Finally a great local dumpling place close to home! The chicken and prawn are definitely the best on the menu. Service is always great and food is cheap.
Dumplings better than other local hot spots (ie bayzie dumpling house, yangs, Knox city etc), service and customer skills are excellent, prices more than reasonable!
Visited this afternoon and the restaurant was busy and bustling. The restaurant is so warm and welcoming upon entering, the staff are also very friendly and attentive. We ordered the chicken and prawn dumplings and combination hor fun noodles which were both delicious and full of flavour. Highly recommend their yumcha dim sims, no need to go yumcha restaurants anymore! We tried the steamed prawn dumplings, egg tart and chinese sweet puff which are way better than ones from the asian bakeries, the pastry is flaky, filling is fresh and tasty! Can’t wait to try other dishes!
Dumpling De Master. Newly opened in Scoresby Village it joins 2 other outstanding Asian Restaurants; Cinta Raya and Red House in offering excellent and affordable fare... But this time.... DUMPLINGS!
First impressions give a feeling of a friendly family restaurant with happy dumpling decor and graphics all over the walls. So much nicer than the bare walls of so many stock standard dumpling dives in Melbourne, it is also complimented with some very nice and sturdy dining furnishings and cute tableware.
Two things are a little odd... No chopsticks at the table and no tea at the table as I come to expect as standard. When we did ask for tea it came out in a tiny pot almost smaller than the cups.
The place is also set up to order at the counter and pay first. I don't mind this at all, but it does inevitably hamper tipping.
Service was gracious and fast once we placed our orders.
The Laksa (Combination and Seafood) was quite serviceable as Laksa. Not much competition for the more serious Laksa establishments in Melbourne, but still quite OK from more of a Hong Kong interpretation.
Outstanding though was the tiny Spring Onion Pancake. Very small, but only $3.00. Order 2 and enjoy the fresh crispness on this pancake. And of course the dumplings... Our pan fried pork dumplings were deeeeeeelish! Very thin and crispy skin. Juicy and perfectly seasoned filling. Really very impressive. The remaining dish was a beef brisket noodle soup and this had plenty of properly tender brisket although the broth was a little light on in flavour.
We took away a rice desert and a Won Ton soup for my daughter, who reported both were awesome.
The staff also came to ask us how our meals were which you don't generally see in this type of restaurant and cuisine even if it is a brand new place.
Value is really good for the quality of dumplings you get. Sadly, one thing is missing... XIAO LONG BAO! I'm not sure if I missed that, but definately did not see it on the menu. They might want to include this with a name like theirs. I'm sure people will be expecting delicious steamed Xiao Long Bao.
Apart from that, I'm looking forward to returning on a regular basis for friendly service, excellent dumplings and a nice place to eat.
👍😋
EDIT... My rating is the same, but sadly this place is closed on a Sunday? That's definately my Dumpling Day if there ever was one. So 2 weeks after this review, we all turned up for Sunday dumplings and had to eat over at Red House instead! Note to management: that's $147 we didn't spend with you! Very sad.
Newly opened and friendly service , with lots of Asian cuisine to offer. Ordered the curry laksa on a cold day and was very impressed by the variety of ingredients given! Curry soup was yummy too! Will come again to try other dishes :)
Completely satisfied. The food was amazing; the presentation immaculate; the staff courteous; the service great; the mood perfect. No complaints - our family now comes regularly for great local Chinese food.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and we were so impressed with the service and quality of the food. The Peking duck was amazing, skin crispy and very large portions in the wraps. We also had plum chicken, beef with oyster sauce/vegetable and the amazing seafood basket. Yum, yum, yum....and to top it off we found room for fried ice cream and banana fritter to share with our friends double yum. Definitely an enjoyable experience, very comfortable, clean, hand towels at the beginning and at the end of the meal, fish tanks immaculate and staff were amazing. We will definitely be going again. Thank you for the lovely culinary experience we all enjoyed it.👌🏼😊👌🏼
Absolutely loved the food.
This was the first time my partner and I have eaten from here and it was amazing.
The restaurant was busy, (we were in to pick up take away) and I noticed how lovely the staff were.
The person at the door was very friendly to all people coming and going, obviously a lot of regulars which is a great sign, as he was chatting to them like he knew them.
Overall great experience, great food, even though we had to wait a little (not much at all) it was worth the wait.
We will definitely be back and would like to experience the dine in.
Excellent service and delicious food. Been there multiple times. Got a free fruit dish. Would come back again. Thank you.
First time dinning here. Such a warm welcoming, like outstanding. Felt like I was a regular customer. Food was great. Had the Peking duck, and loved it. Crispy squid was ok. Chinese broccoli, delicious. Very attentive staff. I will be returning some time.
The staff were a bit too straight forward at first as we landed late and had lesser people than the table booking however all the above info was already informed to them via call but they said no we didn't know. However the food was absolutely delicious and the staff also started warming up to us. Def a great place to have great Chinese food. No complaints about anything on the menu. Huge portion sizes too.
Amazing food that came out in good time (not too quick, not too slow). They were happy to cater to different diets, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The restaurant was very noisy, but that was to be expected with the number of birthday party groups that were there on the same night as I went.
