Had dinner at Copper pot tonight. We went there after tasting their pork belly and spetzale on a recent festival. Food was on point. The best we have had since a 3 hat restaurant in southern France. Staff were excellent and very knowledged in the menu and food preparation. On top of that, the staff were very personable and easy to deal with. The spetzale peaked our interest. The food and staff will make us repeat customers. Well done Copper Pot, some of the best food you can get in Melbourne.
Just returned from the most amazing meal I've had in quite a while. Garlic prawns fantastic. Could have eaten a bucket of them, but room had to be made for the rest of the meal including the pork loin, house (duck) sausage, cauliflower & pomegranate salad and the amazing chocolate mousse/quince dessert. Every wine sampled was fab and staff knowledgeable and friendly. A winner and we will be back.
Seriously the most delicious food experience I have ever had. We left the decision in the hands of the 'Road Trip' and it did not disappoint. Each and every single element on the plate was amazing. Staff were fantastic and clearly knew the flavour of each dish being served. For anyone visiting Melbourne, just a 15 Uber from the city it's a must do dining experience.
We walked past on Saturday on a rare night out and were lucky enough to get a spot!
Thanks to all of you guys, we had a great night out and loved, loved the food and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We are so lucky to have such a gem Seddon.
The evening was just fantastic! We had a 6pm booking and were running late & I was panicking because I knew they were booked out & needed our table at 8.15! When I called to say we'd have to cancel due to this scenario, the restaurant manager, Sarah was magnificent. She moved things around and was able to accommodate us at 6.45. From the moment we walked in our experience was great. The staff are very friendly & super knowledgeable about the menu. Seeing can have some daily changes - that's very impressive! I was keen to try their suckling pig and I was not disappointed. Our meal was up there with one of the best we've had & we eat out a lot! The wine list was extensive & refreshingly different.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening & plan on heading back soon to try the "Chef's road trip" menu ($69pp + $55 wine pairing). This is where the chef prepares the menu for you.
A big thank you to Sarah & her front of house team & a big kiss to the chefs
Yum !
Lovely dinner here tonight. Everything was amazingly tastey and staff were very attentive. My favourite was the duck breast with pear, cabbage and speck. Best duck I've ever had! Next time we'll take the road trip menu.
Extraordinary service so warm, friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, we chose the "Road trip" menu and it was delicious. Wine selection really special too. Want to come back again & again to try everything else! Highly recommend this place!
One our favourites in Melbourne. Amazing pan Euro influenced food, quality ingredients, friendly & professional service. Ash’s (exec chef) passion shines through!
What a fabulous night! Impeccable service, amazing food & an excellent wine selection. Have been here a few times and it never disappoints.
Was hands down one of the best nights out I've had. From the simply amazing food and wine, to the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff to the interaction with the chefs, I'll definitely be back.
We booked Copper Pot for our son’s christening. Throughout the planning and event Kayla, Ashley and the team were incredibly hospitable, super friendly and were all about the finer details. Our guests were blown away by the incredible selection of food and the quality wines/beer at a local restaurant. We felt so comfortable like we had invited our friends and family to our own home. Thank you Copper Pot for making our son’s special day.
Great service and food. Everything was perfect and would highly recommend. Will definitely be back there
Can never go wrong here. Love it. Great food and service and exceptional value. Would love to se a Vote Yes poster in the window though :-(
solid food. nice quiet place too. all the food is yum, even the takeaway pastas during the covid season was superb. can’t wait to go back to have dinner there
We’re self-isolating and my mum placed a dinner order for my birthday. We picked it up. I had one of the most amazing burgers I’ve ever eaten and my wife had the squid ink pasta. She won’t stop talking about how good the pasta was. Packaged beautifully for takeaway and the staff were delightful. When the pandemic is over, I can’t wait to have a proper dining experience.
Lovely service, such a cute date local place and really exceeded expectations! All dishes were well balanced including the copper pot honey dessert which we were told was collected in house!
My partner and I came here to celebrate with no prior reservation on a Saturday night. I would probably call up to make a booking in future.
We decided on the european road trip degustation for $80pp. It was great value!
*The tapas were light and crispy (croquettes, anchovies [they dont even taste like anchovies], and refreshing asparagus).
The german pancake was deliciously decadent. All carb smothered 3 types of fat.
Which in sharp contrast was served with a german inspired steak tartare which had had the sharp taste of horseradish.
The squid ink rice dish was amazing and the squish fresh and bouncy. The light touch of vegetables preventer it from being too heavy. This goes the same with the lamb which was juicy but the vegetable sides were even better.
By this stage I was very full and was basically bursting when I finished a classic creme brulee.
In addition we had 2 drinks, highly recommend the mocktail if you are not a drinker.
Lastly service was prompt, and the explanation for each course was done professionally. Would go again.
Made an easy booking for Copper Pot to celebrate my friend's graduation 🎓
Ordered:
🏰 European road trip ($80.00)
Review:
This degustation is one of the best I've had. Easy food and Copper Pot in Seddon brings you around, from Germany to France.
My top 3 were the: charred flatbread with schmaltz (goose fat): because I've never had anything like it before. Second is the squid ink rice, local calamari, parmesan and nduja because it the calamari had just the right amount of pull, and the taste with the parmesan reminded me a lot of seafood pasta (currently a favourite). The final was a chocolate mousse dessert that had incredibly crumbles on the side.
The service was incredibly friendly and really fun. I'd recommend copper pot in a heartbeat if you want to try something new.
We dined here on the european roadtrip menu, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The ambience was perfect for a date night, fantastic service and nice attention to detail. We let them know ahead of time that my partner is vegan and they were able to cater without any issue. On booking they let us know to leave 2 hours for the roadtrip menu, but I would leave 2.5 hrs at least because we felt a little rushed for time. In particular, the scallops and flat bread were excellent, but the lamb and stracciatella salad was too rich. We will be back, but will try the a la carte next time.
First visit for me to Copper Pot, my partner took me there for dinner. Great ambiance, minimalistic and cozy set up. Great experience from both service and the food they presented to us.
We really enjoyed their scallops dish and the beef cheeks. Definitely would return to sample their other dishes.
Reasonably priced, great food, and warm service.
I’ve been here twice. The first time, we were pressed for time, so just did picked a few dishes from the a la carte. We really enjoyed it and I made sure we went back for the “Sample menu”. We loved that too - really enjoyed ourselves cos we took the time to enjoy a nice long lunch . Their menu changes seasonally, so you can visit throughout the year and not get bored.
The restaurant was beautifully designed it looks very elegant. The service was very attentive and the the food we ordered were delicious. Amazing hidden gem in the inner west!!!
Took my mum and family for Mother's Day. Absolutely delighted by the service, the decor, the food and the price. A winning combination from all angles. From the moment I made my booking via the phone, the lady was very pleasant, asked how many mums would be attending (haha), and dietary requirements. From the moment we arrived, the waitress, Kieran took our coats, and sat us down. Immediately, she provided the refreshments, menus and asked us about our days, as well as giving my mum a complimentary 'thyme pot' as a Mother's Day gift. Our service was approx. 2 hours, with a very nice Mother's Day set menu with wine to accompany each dish. The dishes included butter melted prawns, grilled bell peppers as an appetizer. Rustic white bread as a shared accompanying dish. Next, the main was a succulent 8-hour slowly cooked lamb roast off the bone with roasted carrots and potatoes. Lastly, we tickled our taste buds with a Seddon-made honey ice-cream with biscuit pieces. Not too sweet, and not too strong. A very balanced dessert dish (hard to come by in Melbourne). Simply, a perfect experience, and I couldn't thank the staff at Copper Pot enough. Even a handy tip doesn't describe how much I loved that place, the food, the staff, the atmosphere and the overall vibe for a special day for Mums all around the world. As i write this review, this has been my best dining experience, period. Well done staff at Coppers Pot. I highly recommend everyone to try this place out.
Ok. So I am trying my hardest to find fault with my birthday dinner last night. I cannot find any. Amazing food & service on our culinary European road trip. Delicious and refined and at such a reasonable price.
It's not a case of will we visit again it is how soon!
Thanks to everyone.
G and A x
Ever wanted to go on a whirlwind trip around Europe soaking up the tasty delights of Italy and France to the Swiss Alps and Turkey? In the space of just two hours or so? If only apparition or teleportation was a thing. But your taste buds can with Chef Ashley Davis’ European Road Trip menu at Copper Pot Seddon.
Will come back for:
+ Nassari Anchovies
+ Flatbread with duck fat
+ Heirloom tomato salad
+ Beef tartare
+ Porketta
We came here to celebrate a special occasion, and these guys delivered in spades. We took the easy way out and ordered the European Trip menu which is a selection of dishes selected by the chef. The meal took us from Spain (grilled jalapeños), to Mediterranean (beef tartare), to Italy (King crab pasta), and we left contented and deeply satisfied. All this washed down with a strong robust ale. All the dishes were well seasoned, had good fresh ingredients that sung, and provided pops of flavours that delighted the senses. The crew was very engaging and the place had a great vibe going with lots of happy people. I’ve listed some of my favourites on top out of the meal, but really, it was pretty close to a faultless dinner experience. Possibly the best fine diner on the west.
We came on a Sunday, which they have a set 4 course meal for $50. They select all the chief’s special and it was such an experience!! There was things on the menu I knew it even existed or would have tried. The food was such full of flavour and fresh. Highly recommend trying the wine they recommend as well as it pairs very well with the food. Every Sunday is different depends on what’s season! So definitely a place we will come back and try.
We haven’t been out much but recently found this beautiful gem in Seddon. Honestly we wouldn’t have found this cute little restaurant if we didn’t try to look for something outside our norm.
I’m so excited to come back to Copper Pot. The chef puts a lot of effort in designing his dishes and likes to get his customer feed back to improve each dining experience. I love this personal touch.
For this Sunday Session we had a four course meal. First course we had the Padron peppers and charred flatbread babganoush. The Padron peppers was an interesting and fun experience, let’s just say hope you like a game of Russian roulette! 1 in every 9 is spicy!
Next we had the Prawn Bolognaise with homemade macaroni. I have to say after our trip to Italy, we have a new found appreciation for homemade pasta! This is no exception! The macaroni was cooked Al dente!
Our third course was the Honey roasted Milawa duck, spaghetti squash, potato and sweet tendrils. I have to be honest when I say I’ve never had spaghetti squash before, and I am obsessed! The duck has been aged for two weeks, it’s perfectly crispy and pink!
The last dish was the chocolate delivered, caramelised hazelnut crumb! This was 11/10!
I highly recommend trying Copper pot! It’s a great place for a date with ur special someone.
Nice little modern French restaurant in the West side of Melbourne, Seddon. First time there was sensational except for the waitress spilling olive oil down the back of my shirt. Very apologetic but I preferred to get it washed myself. Second time round with a group of 6 found the selection of our set menu average as the was no alterations what so ever. Worth a visit there though can be cheaper with a group splitting the bill evenly.
We had no expectations when visiting Copper Pot and they left us stunned with great service, great food and amazing matched wines. The matching menu really introduced us to culinary delights that were unexpected and tantalising. We will be back!
Best restaurant in the West! Beautiful food and great service. So accommodating to allergies and intolerances... managed to get an egg free dessert. So yum. Can’t wait to go back!
Nightcaps at Copper Pot when in Seddon. Their green panelled wall struck me instantly, such gorgeous atmosphere here at nights with dim intimate lighting.
Must try their Creme Brûlée. Generous serving and decadent to the last bite. Finish off with their impressive selection of wines & liqueur. Exquisite service every time! 👌
Had the Chefs road trip with matching wines. Food and matching wines were excellent!!!
Service was impeccable, staff friendly, great atmosphere and ambiance.
I didn't know much about Copper Pot, but I was looking for places to try in Seddon and it kept cropping up. We chanced our luck at 9 on a Saturday and scored a table. The wait staff were really professional and helpful with the menu. The food, however, was a bit of a let down, even more so once I read up on the place afterwards and realised how renowned it is. We shared a terrine to start which was quite bland. Next we had parpardelle with confit duck and egg yolk which I enjoyed but wasn't amazing. The Angus beef short rib was tender but very fatty. Overall I enjoyed the experience of the place but the food didn't set my world on fire.
A lovely birthday dinner!
Deliciously familiar homely European food presented in a very modern way. The staff were fantastic in every aspect and the vibe was warm and inviting with an air of unpretentious sophistication, highly recommended. Favourite dish was the chicken parfait with choux doughnuts & pickled blackberries 👌
One small criticism, I didn’t love the cognac savarin, maybe just personal taste but I thought the actual savarin was too dry.
I can not fault this restaurant. quality amazing and service outstanding. The degustation is a must for when you visit as it is always changing and lets the chef put together something special for you.
We had a lovely dinner at Copper Pot, ordering the Chef's Road Trip with matching wines. We started with the chicken liver parfait which was not bad, and the fish tartare which was tasty. Next came the peppers with a nice accompanying sauce, though I probably preferred more peppers and less sauce :) The beer and rye bread with schmalz was absolutely delicious and one of my fav dishes! The squid ink rice was quite unique and I liked the smokey flavours of the squid. The steak was excellent and well-cooked. We finished off with Greek doughnuts which was lovely and not overly sweet. Wines were very generous! The service was friendly and attentive. A great restaurant out West that I would happily frequent again.
We loved it - This restaurant serves some of the best food we've had in Melbourne. Strikes a balance between beautiful food and not being pretentious. The food is sophisticated, but not in an annoying way. From the first bite, you're in the hands of a true pro who understands depth of flavour and subtlety. And the food is a journey through Europe - so its interesting to try new places and tastes as well.
My friend and I shared three of the small dishes (their entree size). They were generous serving sizes and all delicious! The service was on point and very pleasant. The waitress knew the menu and gave excellent recommendations. The overall highlight for me was the peach and almond tart, it left me wanting more. I will definitely return!
Waitress, presentation of food, class, the tidiness of the restaurant ... very good ... Food, tender, tasteful and great blend of sauces that match foods. Recommend for a nice dinner.
We were a group of 9 and tried out the road trip around Europe degustation. Each dish was really tasty, the smoked trout and squid was my favourite, the pea salad was fresh and crisp, beef cheeks were nice but nothing too special. The only disappointing part of the night was that we only got to try dishes from mainly Italy and France.. was hoping to have an array of different food/cultural experiences. Service was amazing, they made a huge effort shuffling our booking around with last minutes changes. Overall it was a wonderful night and the entertainment card definitely helped with the bill. Thanks guys will definitely be back soon.
We did the European Foodies, degustation of 7dishes over 4 courses. Food did not disappoint. We started in Germany & with fresh bread & butter infused with duck rind & pork fat. We are in Croatia & France. Highlight was ending with a creme brûlée from France. Was a perfect date night for our anniversary
Had a lovely time last week at copper pot, a surprising find out in seddon. The staff were friendly and the place had a dim/intimate ambiance. We tried the duck wurst (small but delicious), the bone marrow with mushrooms (delicious and was a highlight for us), squid ink pasta with mussels (again another delicious dish with lots of flavor) and the beef cheek (small and unfortunately a little underwhelming in taste and texture). The baked Camembert was a nice way to finish of the night.
The portions were a little on the small side ie the beef cheek needed 2 sides in order to feel more like a main and the price is a little on the steep end.
In all though its a nice place that sits between casual and fine dining without being too pretentious. Great for a date!
Thanks to Sarah for her excellent service and to Ashley and staff for such beautiful food. From excellent ingredients are conjured some brilliant tastes. Gorgeous dishes both taste wise and visually. It's all about trust here. Knowing you can trust the chef and knowing you can trust that the wines on the list will be good. The taste options are exemplary. Wish I could go here more often. Saturday lunch is an excellent time to dine here, not quite so busy, more relaxed pace for dining and attention to detail. The ingredients are fresh, organic and locavore and impeccable.
I have long been intrigued by Copper Pot's European-influenced menu and was overjoyed to see its inclusion in the 2017/2018 Entertainment Book. Taking this as a sign that I should not delay a visit any longer, I dragged my partner to dine there without telling him where, in case he exercised his veto power. Arriving at just before 6pm, we were the first customers of the night and was able to nabbed a table without reservations, subject to us getting out of the door at 8pm. No sweat. The waitress who attended to us and served us throughout the night was happy to run through the menu with us, and was very helpful with suggestions on which dishes went well together.
We decided to order only one main - the king prawns and Sardinian shellfish stew - so we went crazy with the entrees and desserts. It worked well because we got to try a variety of dishes. Starting off with complimentary bread and schmaltz (duck fat), we knew we were in for a heavy and hearty dinner. The truffle brioche toastie, ox tongue schnitzel and surf clams arrived next. The brioche toastie was the start of the night; the bread was toasted to perfection, and the truffle flavour was pronounced but yet did not overpower the buttery goodness of the sweet bread and creamy nutty-tasting Comté. No complaints in relation to the the ox tongue schnitzel and clams, but when compared to the brioche toastie, they became only relatively good. Therefore in all fairness, I must commend the ox tongue on its beautiful thin layer of crumbed batter and the freshness of the clams.
The main dish was unfortunately not so good. It was solid taste-wise - fragrant, and flavourful, but the king prawns were somewhat gluggy. We did raised this with the waitress, and she explained that this was how it was supposed to be done as it was a stew. We also ordered a side of the truffle Käsespätzle, and this dish is best described as carbs on carbs. A German version of mac and cheese, it was impossible not to love.
We shared, or more like I hogged, the yuzu bavarois and baked goats Camembert, for dessert. The bavarois was light and refreshing, and the Camembert was indulgent; a lovely contrast to end the meal.
The interior was dim and intimate, exuding the feel of a wine bar or bistro, and added to the authenticity of the dining experience. While we were stuffed as a result of over-ordering, the portion size was rather small, and the price quite expensive. I would have not enjoyed myself as much as I did if not for the Entertainment Book voucher.
The snails kick ass
Interior is smart upto date
Style of menu good
Staff very friendly
Service not bad
Taste really good
Waiting time around 15 mins
Coffee hmm..
Positive food reviewed saw tasted .
Would recommend if u r looking 4 a place to impressse your girl. .
Would I go again yeah I would
Great food and service. We had the three course set menu and tried the lamb entree, chicken liver parfait, pork loin, steak and creme brulee. All dishes were good, and the pork had a good amount of crispy skin. The complimentary bread came with a duck fat spread rather than the usual butter or olive oil, which was interesting but I found the spread to be a bit bland tasting.
We always have a great time at Copper Pot. We've had many dinners and held private functions here so can highly recommend them. Head Chef Ash and Sascha create a unique dining experience with the niche here being 'road trips' through Europe. I encourage you to enjoy a road trip and also tack on a wine pairing so you enjoy a delicate french white with your french dish, a bold Italian red with your italian meal and so on. The decor is a kühl modern feel but very European. The staff are super friendly and might I say quite knowledgeable on food and wine. A welcome addition to the inner west food scene.
We had an amazing dinner Sat night - it started with excellent service which made us feel very welcome.
We were offered any assistance we needed with the menu & drinks and made some exciting choices which proved to be 100% amazing.
It was a great experience to be able to see & hear the kitchen.
Top marks for the wait staff as well as the kitchen. Will definitely recommend & be back in the future.
Thanks so much to everyone at Copper Pot
Great service and even better food!
We went for a celebration and they made us feel very special.
The staff gave great recommendations about the food and wine
The pork was delish
The Copper Pot dining experience lived up to its hype. An unusual, very tasty Road Trip menu was varied and interesting. Serves were generous with flavours and textures of food perfectly balanced. Everything we ate was fresh and served at perfect temperatures. Difficult to choose a favourite dish - however this menu gave us good idea of what we would order a la carte in future. The Heritage Tomato salad and the Brulee would be definite inclusions. Staff are efficient, highly capable and accommodating - creating a welcoming atmosphere. We were noticed: drinks replenished and tables cleared in a timely manner. It's great to have a 'destination' restaurant with a 'dining experience' in our 'hot spot' local area. If you are a 'safe' 'meat+3 veg+chips+pot of beer' diner this might not be for you. Leave Copper Pot for those who like variety, a little out of the ordinary surprises in their dining. I felt that I had 'good value' for money. Similar dining experiences in the city and across the Yarra would be much more expensive. Copper Pot is worth a visit.
Dinner at Copper Pot is eating at Grandmas house, if she were Spanish, Italian, French, German or Greek. The kind of European home cooking that has mostly disappeared these days. It was a wonderful experience for me. Staff were friendly, professional, attentive and most importantly, welcoming. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Well done.
Copper Pot opened it’s doors in Seddon Village a little over a year ago, and has been a hugely popular addition, not least because of owner Ashley Davis’s impressive credentials.
A relatively small restaurant, Copper Pot is a triumph of interior design. Low seating at the front and bar-style tables towards the back show off the open kitchen and creates a relaxed vibe, and the stunning teal panelled walls inject some effortless chic. The resulting space works equally well for causal nibbles or an intimate dinner, and the menu, which is designed for sharing, has plenty of options to suit both.
Deborah, our waitress for the evening was extremely personable and very knowledgeable about the menu – she took the time to explain each dish, and it’s origins, and was able to recommend those best suited the slightly less adventurous member of our group. Most of the dishes are designed to be shared and, if you prefer, there is a 7-course sharing menu which changes daily, leaving you to kick back, relax, and enjoy some of the excellent wine on offer.
Be prepared to feast without remorse! The food here is rich, and full of wonderful strong flavours – think game, butter, cream, gruyere, anchovy. If you do feel it’s a bit heavy, there is a summer salad to lighten the load.
I am a local. Dined here five times to date, with the second visit being a very ordinary experience. I only returned as friends had booked and invited me to join them. Glad they did, have had only excellent and food since.
The Road Trip to Europe was so good the first time I had it again last night. The dishes are constantly changed so little risk of getting the same selection twice.
Staff attentive, though a little rushed, and the food is beautifully cooked and nicely presented.
My only gripe.....bookings. On one occassion, when making a booking, we were informed that there were two settings, 5.30pm - 6pm to 8pm, then 8pm. This made sense at the time as it was Christmas/New Year period. When making bookings before this occassion, and since, no mention was made about two settings and there certainly wasn't any sign of it being in place wih people coming and going throughout the times we have been there. That was, until last night. Booked for 5.30pm, my friend arrived late, at 5.45pm, we ordered the European Road Trip by 5.55pm. My friend did comment at the speed the dishes were coming out, no digestion time between serving, and at one time three dishes came out at the same time. Being rather hungry I wasn't all thst fussed, but I could see her point. At 7.45pm my friend order another glass of wine, then at 7.50pm the waitress informed us that the table was required at 8pm, and invited us to have our desert course at the outside tables. An invitation we declined given the weather (cold) and fumes from passing traffic. When asked why I was not informed if this at the time of making the booking (which I did in person), the respknse was 'this is standard prastice, you have been here before'. With this desert and the wine arrived at 7.55pm. Can't say we got to enjoy our desserts as felt pressured to eat up and go, which we did! As for the glass of wine.....wasted!
On talking to the waitress on way out, at 8.05pm she told us that the two settings apply to Fridsy and Saturday nights only. We expressed the view that whilst it might be standard practice within the sector, it should also be standard practice to infom people at time of making bookings for those nights, of this.
Perfection! I have only good things to say about my experience at Copper pot. This is some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. The black rice with local calamari is to die for! And the spatchcock! And everything really.
Nice place, nice decor within means. Very small menu which I liked. However a lot of the dishes comes with anchovies.
Saganaki was good so was the octopus, executed very well.
Lamb neck was good too, no offence to the chef but the sauce was a bit lack of flavour.
And the service was superb. Two thumbs up
fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch fantastisch
Was hands down one of the best nights out I've had. From the simply amazing food and wine, to the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff to the interaction with the chefs, I'll definitely be back.
Absolutely loved Copper Pot. We did the European Road Trip and the food was amazing.
We sat at the bar and could watch over the kitchen as well as having some great wine recommendations from the wait staff.
I have already booked in to go back for a Christmas Dinner with friends and will recommend to all my family & friends.
It is that time of year, when I am here freezing in Melbourne spending exorbitant amounts of money on electricity to heat my house and watching the lucky few who have jetted off to Europe chasing the sun flooding my news feed with their incredible photos. Luckily, Copper Pot in Seddon recently allowed me a fleeting glimpse of a European road trip with their fantastic ‘Road Trip’ menu; a shared chefs menu that showcases food from European favourites like Italy, Spain and France with food that is quality enough that if you close your eyes you just may be able to believe you are really there. The incredibly talented Ashley Davis has created a concept that allows he and his staff to experiment regularly with both classic European cuisine and modern takes on favourites, bringing a slice of Europe to the ever expanding dining scene in Melbourne’s west.
Thursday lunch. Very impressed with the waitresses attention given to us on arrival and ensuring menus and drinks arrived promptly. Menu options were very knowledgeabley explained and our selections did not disappoint.
Fantastic wines and overall a very memorable long lunch.
Will definitely be back for more.
Attentive service and deliciously refined food. A great addition to Seddon. While the reviews aren't as high as they should be, this place is always filled to capacity. Keep up the great work
very well enjoyed. great black rice crisps, pipis, duck parpadelle, hand cut chips amongst other well cooked dishes and good wine. left so so full and only paid $75/pp
Visited last night and absolutely loved this place - service (so knowledgable, interested and clearly someone who loves her job - brunette with glasses), food and atmosphere were all fabulous. Maybe my favourite place in Melb right now. Reasonably priced for what we got.
Excellent little local. Have been here several times now and have enjoyed everything I've ordered. Could do with a few more vegetarian options but those that exist are quality. Atmosphere is great. Wine list is solid. The kind of place you used to have to travel into the city or inner north to eat at. Casual but feels a bit special. Will continue to visit regularly as the menu changes.
Confused as to how this place is only averaging 3.3. In my opinion the best value for money dining in the west if you are looking for something of a higher standard than most. The menu offers great selection but if you are happy to let the chef select for you the road trip is the way to go. Not sure i have actually had a bad dish here and Black Ink Squid and Rice is a standout. Staff are attentive and wine list is well balanced.
My first visit to this place was surprising (because of the low ratings) and most enjoyable. Great place and great food, and lovely staff.
I had the fixed price menu for lunch. You can choose a 2-course for 29 bucks, or a 3-course (which includes dessert) for 38 bucks. I wasn't so I ordered the two course but ended changing my mind and going for the 3-course.
Entree = Ricotta gnudi dumplings, blue cheese, pickled pumpkin, and sage. Verdict: super-yummy, light and beautiful to look at it. I thought it might be a bit dry because of the ricotta, but no, the dumplings were very moist and flavoursome, and the pickled pumpkin added a bit of freshness and crunchiness as did the crispy sage on top. Delectable.
Main = Wild boar ragu with white polenta, arancini, chilli, and oregano. The white polenta was silky smooth and very yummy, and not as strong as the usual yellow course polenta. The ragu was full of flavour without being overpowering or heavy, and the arancini and crispy wafer were great touches to add texture and flavour. The dish doesn't look as good in the photo as was in my plate. It yelled, eat me and it was yummy!
Dessert = Mauri cave aged blue cheese souffle with kumquat, and caramelized hazelnuts. This was a savoury dessert. I thought I was taking a risk because blue cheese is a funny cheese to do something light that does not stink before you even eat it. Well, this cheese parfait was absolutely light, moist and full of flavour, but no stinky or strong in flavour, and the added pieces of sweetish kumquat and nuts were a perfect complement. I only missed a bit of sauce, slightly sweet, to link all the elements together in the plate, though.
They even put a bit of bred and oil for you while you wait for your food.
This fixed price lunch menu is very good value for money and everything I ate was stupendous! The wine is included in the price and the one I got, a light red that the waitress chose for me, was really lovely. I left with my belly uber-full. The coffee was the only letdown, that sort of watery concoction that never makes me happy.
The place is modern and vibrant, it has character, and welcomes people of all ages, from large groups to solo eaters.
The staff were all lovely, friendly, welcoming and professional.
Service was quite fast re taking food out of the kitchen despite the place being quite busy with a large group. My only critique is that they seemed to be a bit hurried, perhaps would have needed another waiter to make the service a bit more relaxed, a bit of more finesse (fabric napkins for example, and a great coffee) and the place would be perfect to me.
The food was absolutely delicious - really fresh and flavoursome. We had the sticky vodka beef which was incredibly tender and full of flavour but still a large portion so we left feeling very full. This is the second time I've been here and the atmosphere is great and staff also very attentive. They were very accommodating with dietary requirements too.
Road trip review $130 for 2 pax
1st course , chicken liver parfait with doughnuts
Favourite course perfect

4 th course sand whiting
Delicious but again needed more zing ( even with the lemon )
5 th lamb with sweetbreads
Beautiful roulade of shoulder ( although breast/belly I think ) stuffed cabbage and golden raisins delicious
Dessert
Black Forest mouse very good
Creme brûlée delicious but a little cold
Great service and atmosphere will recommend to friends !
This is primarily a share plate venue and the food is excellent. Not for those who want to hog into a big main meal on their own. I love the variety and the different tastes provided. The venue is comfortable and the service very good. Only complaint is the wine list - limited selection and very expensive. I understand that this is how they make a profit but surely you can provide a good quality house wine for around $7 bucks a glass that still has a healthy margin. We can't all afford top shelve prices to enjoy a drink with our meals.
After reading the average reviews, I was honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed my experience. Staff were helpful and very attentive. Food was exceptional and presented beautiful. Highlights included sandy whiting, squid ink rice and boar. The waiters presented the meals by region which I thought was a nice and unexpected addition. Decor is lovely, except for that dreadful front door position. We chose to select our own menu to share, and for $65 a head including a bottle of wine and sparking for all, I do believe it was well worth every penny. Highly recommend.
This was our second time here. Although small has a great vibe about it. The staff are very friendly and professional. Our waitress remembered us from the last time, which would be about 3 months ago. This time we chose the road trip which was $65 per person and we couldn't fault it. It is a selection of dishes from different parts of the world and changes with the seasons. How lucky we are as locals in sleepy Seddon to have such great restaurant. Will be back.
Great addition to the area. Tried the road trip, which was a great experience and left very full. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Will go back.
Great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff when we visited about a month ago. I loved the squid ink risotto, it's one of the best risottos I've had in recent times. I wasn't a huge fan of the profiteroles, but I loved the panna cotta and I see they've now replaced the profiteroles with a black forest, which looks amazing and I can't wait to try!
New favourite! Could not fault this new addition to Seddon. We had a perfect night, beautifully European planned menu and an interesting wine selection. Sitting at the bar we got the impression that the staff were really enjoying themselves and were all pretty chilled. Loved chatting with Mags behind the bar, plenty of great recommendations and laughs. Definitely will be returning to try the rest of the menu.
We had the 'road trip' which was a selection of dishes. All were quiet good, stand outs were the ricotta gnocchi, the goat and cream brûlée. The rendered pork and duck fat for the bread was a bit full on for us and the prawn bisque lacked depth of flavour and wasn't hot. The fish was also full of bones which I know is the case with whole small fish but it was difficult to eat and not so enjoyable. Overall pretty good
Had lunch here today and the food and service was brilliant. The waiter was charming, informative and really added to the experience. I ordered the gnocchi which was cooked perfectly, not too dense or gluggy. The creme brulee was exceptional! Definitely the winner for me. This restaurant takes dining in the inner west to a whole new level.
Went over to Seddon sensation Copper Pot a few weeks ago for a celebratory dinner. To say we now have a new favourite local is an understatement!
For those who have been to Europe you'll understand the beauty of simple food done exquisitely well. Copper Pot brings that wondrously to Melbourne in a beautiful casual dining setting.
We sat on the bar and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare meals and had some casual banter with them.
Their previous experience working in high end restaurants shows, this new restaurant runs smoothly and effortlessly. Great wine list too!
Great atmosphere and service. Our waiter was enthusiastic, funny and friendly without getting too in-your-face. I really liked how the place was decorated - high ceilings, open kitchen, beautiful light sea green wall.
To start you get sourdough with a pot of warm, fatty and super-delicous spread on the side. Yum, really gets you in the mood for food!
I ordered the duck salad - pomegranate, feta, walnuts, beetroot. It was delicious but I think needed a few more than 5 salad leaves in order to be called a salad! Loved the combination of flavours though. Boyfriend had the gnocchi, which were big, doughy and rustic looking. The gnocchi was saucy and the edible flowers on top were pretty, but I think it needed something more to cut through the richness of the big bits of pasta. The gnocchi was served in a pan, making it hard to put your cutlery down without it falling into the sauce.
For dessert was the creme brûlée - really thick sugary top which I needed two hands on my spoon to break through, but deliciously smooth and creamy underneath.
Had an enjoyable meal, and the place was reasonably priced for food that is quite fancy.
Caught up with a group of friends late last Friday night and wasn't sure what to expect. Pleasantly surprised with immaculate service, great menu choices, a nice sized wine choice and quality food. Only let down was to be a European restaurant and not have proper coffee to finish - quite ironic! (Hey, it's Melbourne after all!! LOL) Great to have a fancy date night place so close to home - I will be back!!
Amazing! We were blown away with the food and impressed with the service. Loved every minute of our evening from the moment we sat down. Well done to Ashley and his team for bringing this little piece of Europe to Seddon for us locals. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to other
Good but not amazing.
Dined here for lunch, service was very attentive and waiter very knowledgable- adds a touch of class when the waiter describes everything on the plate with pride and enthusiasm! We ate the whiting and duck entrees which were both great, the gnocchi which whilst the sauce was lovely the gnocchi was dense and quite hard to cut, we both thought maybe they were too big?! They weren't light/fluffy and melt in your mouth as they should be. The squid ink rice was very rich and calamari tough, the serve was too big in our opinion, two of us couldn't finish it.
All in all an ok lunch, I won't rush back. Beautiful fit out and I imagine lovely at night!
Service was terrific and food was on point. It's clear to me that this establishment is very passionate about the food they put on a plate. Bravo! Seddon's finest.
This place has managed to take dining in the inner west to new heights. Top notch service and great wine /food knowledge ensure a night to remember without breaking the bank. We took a trip through Europe - the tasting menu here. Of note was the squid ink risotto with calamari, and live the pork belly on spetzle. Great texture and flavour
The food was so good I nearly cried...Michelin Star level food at Posh Pub prices. Casual but professional & friendly service. Get in quick before the eastern raiders catch on!
Great food. Great wine. Excellent variety and really friendly service. I'm vegetarian and left full and satisfied. A great celebration of local ingredients. Awesome being able to see the skill and sheer focus of the chefs too.
Looking forward to going again!
Had a quick bite and glass of wine before heading to a movie on Friday night. The friendly managed to squeeze us in, gets us feed and out again on time for the movie (guessing we were also squeezed in before a reservation).
Kicked off with delicious bread with lard and crispy bits (just don't tell your doctor or personal trainer). A simple but fresh salad, octopus and Belgian style mussels which were awesome.
Staff were attentive but not in your face. White wine was served at correct temperature.
Will definitely be going back. A great addition options in the area.
Amazing food and amazing service. On the menus I would highly recommend the Road Trip, it was a fabulous experience, we loved every bit of it!
Loved Copperpot! For drinks, I recommend the grapefruit soda, which is absolutely amazing. We were served bread with an amazing lard spread, which had tiny bits of pork crackling infused in it. Fat on fat on carb. I couldn't think of anything better.
We ordered the mussells (belgian style apparently) done in a classic white wine, garlic and cream sauce. Unconventionally, it was served with fries for dipping into the sauce. We still ordered bread however, because the fries didn't mop up enough of the juice.
We also ordered the tiger prawns, large and juicy, and covered head to tail in a chilli garlic oil. Absolutely divine. The gnudi dumplings, while subtle, were still soft and deliciously cheesy.
From the large dishes, we chose the lamb breast served with baby carrots and hazelnut. This dish was definitely my least favourite of the savoury, as it lacked sauce. The cuttlefish ink risotto, however was creamy, black and served with a generous topping of cuttlefishfish. It was reminiscent of an amazing squid ink pasta I had at Movida.
For dessert we ordered profiterje, a weird cross between a profiterole and a crepe. It was three waffle like balls filled with hot dark chocolate. Not my cup of tea, but my friends seemed to like it.
We ate like kings for $40 a head - thought it was pretty good value. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes
We did not regret in choosing this place for anniversarry celebration. What a unique and great european dining experience. Good concept (each dish is associated with a european country) combined with good execution and hopitable service. Occasionally, head chef Ashley Davis himself will serve the food to your table.
Our favourite dish was Hapuka Fish which brought us to Spain. Reserved the 5 star due to slight variation in their dishes.
Nice addition to the neighbourhood! Great decor, delicious food and well priced. Tried the 'Road trip' which was pleasantly surprising to be served dishes that wouldn't have chosen. The squid ink risotto was highlight. Won't be the last trip around Europe!
Can't believe a place like this exists in Seddon - a hat is surely in the works. Great atmosphere and a great array of tapas from across Asia. Couldn't fault the service, food or wine/beer list.
Not bad at all.
Beautifully simple hipster room with simple colours, wood and metal furnitures and lovely bright windows.
The service is a little haphazard, but mostly professional although a little unfriendly.
Menu design and prices are good. Foods from all over europe.
The food qualities are high, and flavours are good. Nothing outstanding, but all very pleasant. Good place to be for a nice easy dinner with a glass of wine. The iberico ham seems a little out of place, at 20 dollars it's probably better to have cheaper cuts of cured meats rather than some meagre iberico.
Overall the excellent decor and decent easy to get into food definitely overrides any shortcomings of the service.
We were here for New Years Eve dinner, a foodies road trip (the short version, of five courses) through Europe. Attentive, friendly service, a truly thoughtfully-produced menu, well-executed. As much attention was lavished on The Vegetarian's meal as mine, which is always a good sign in my book. It was very warm when we were there (NYE being another hot hot one for Melbourne) but the team were very observant and adjusted the air conditioning to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. So happy to have more of this type of dining locally, we'll be back.
Had been dying to try this new restaurant in Seddon, took another couple along with us and were expecting great things. Wait staff were very friendly and we decided to take the Road Trip menu, where the chef brings a variety of dishes from around the world for you to taste. We started with some yummy bread, then had the local calamari with squid ink risotto - absolutely delicious, heirloom tomato salad and the gnudi dumpling also great, it was with the larger dishes that they let themselves down, kingfish was stuck to the bones - undercooked, the chicken was the same - a couple of pieces were raw around the bone as well, on telling our friendly waiter he informed the kitchen of our concerns with undercooked food. No one came out to discuss the issues with us - so when paying the bill voiced our concerns with the acting manager who could not have really cared less. Left our phone number for someone to call, which to their credit we had a phone call the following morning to discuss our issues - were informed that perhaps we should ask for the food to be well done!!!! Goodness me, we should not be the quality control nor be telling experienced chefs how they should cook their food but undercooked fish and poultry is a NO NO! Would not rush back here.
This is by far the best restaurant to open in the area for a long, long time. Casual without being too casual, attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff and food that is inspired and different. This place is here to stay. Our dinner last night was the Chefs 'Road Trip' and was a journey around the different tastes of Europe. Every dish was flavourful and well presented with the standouts being the octopus with squid ink risotto and Parmesan emulsion and some delicious and plump seas snails done the only way they should be; with garlic and butter. All dishes were well paced and accompanied with a brief description from the Chef. Being neither cheap nor expensive this is exactly Seddon has been waiting for. This place is perfect for a date night or a quick bite and will have us telling our friends about it until it becomes annoying.
Recently opened, Copper Pot is an exciting fine dining addition for the inner west. The place was buzzing on the evening we attended. Service was slow but attentive - given that they are still finding their groove, and that the place was full to the brim, this was easily excused. We were initially offered fresh bread with an intriguing dark lard paste which I have not sampled before. For starters we shared the octopus which was plump and cooked to perfection, along with the ricotta dumplings. The fresh and zesty zucchini salad paired beautifully with our fish main. The mussel dish was accidentally omitted - however we were grateful as by this stage we were already too full. A comprehensive wine list, I had a glass of the sem sav chard blend which was an excellent accompaniment. Great start by Copper Pot and I wish them success with this restaurant.
A beautiful restaurant serving delicious food. The staff are super friendly and service was top notch.
The prawns are a must order, could smash through 10 of these easy.
We also ordered oysters, rock-ling dip and Wanderer Beef Entrecôte.
8.2/10. Would come back!
Oh and the dessert dish a must order!
I love how this place' service and food style are like fine dining, but the atmosphere is relaxing , not uptight at all.
Service was great. Staff was polite and not snobby.
Food was fun and so beautiful.
Such a beautiful lovely fine dining restaurant.Absolutely perfect service, fresh and flavoursome menu and perfect portions...We had the road trip and it was exciting since the chef decides what we get ...They are very accommodating even in the set menu..Our two brilliant servers explained to us everything from the start to finish even the drinks so it was easy for us to decide and it helped us to enjoy the food to the maximum..Thankyou for the amazing experience.
Copper Pot is one of the hidden food gems of Melbourne. Visited again on Saturday night, our 5th plus visit. We always have the Road Trip through Europe experience, and as always the food was delicious, the service excellent. We always recommend Copper Pot to friends, can’t recommend them highly enough. Here’s a few pics from our last visit, forgot to take photos of all courses because it looked so good we just dived straight in!
The food is always amazing - from the surprise of doing a Road Trip to ordering direct from the menu, each time we go we are never disappointed. The staff are onto it, welcoming, know their stuff - and wine!
It is great to sick back, wine in hand, super full tummy and watch the buzz of the restaurant, the staff, the smiles on faces... says a lot about a place!
Fantastic food, great service, one of the best local restaurants
Absolutely amazing. They say we can taste with our eyes. Presentation of every dish, outstanding. The "road trip around Europe " experience is a must to try. Five star dinning at its best. Only negative, not BYO wine. Would love to take my grange
Great service, nice atmosphere and delicious food and wine.
