Loved the food and service. The faux newspaper wrapping topped it off nicely. F & C's in my childhood days were wrapped in newsprint which seemed to make them taste better. Thank you.
Best fish and chips in the West and probably in Melbourne. Always consistent. Crispy batter and chips and never greasy. Having proper gravy is a bonus too. Would love it if If you did curry sauce but it's a bit of an ask :)

Had a fish burger and chips last night- oh so delicious! Bun was lovely, fish was cooked perfectly and I like that it’s grilled by default, good amount of lettuce, tomato and sauce too. Very generous portion of chips for 4$! I put my order through via message, they responded promptly and the wait was very reasonable! Very happy customer!
My score 3.5 stars. I got TA lunch for myself & J on Thu the 28th Mar. Service was friendly & I enjoyed the “fake news” wrapping paper (Zomato keeps ditching my photo of it 👎 - sorry). No free lemon 👎.
We had: 1 flake ($7) > Was nice, clean batter, but slightly oily – overall good 👍. Quite crunchy around the edge, lots of pieces had broken off in the parcel (J likes these crunchy bits/I don’t).
2 spud cakes ($1.10 each) > Smallish, but got a freebie! They were ok – quite thin bits of spud, but batter ratio was ok.
Min chips ($4) > Generous serve of nice clean chips 👍. Mainly a good size & shape, although some small/crunchy ones (once again - J likes/I don’t).
Easily the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The flake is nice and crispy on the outside, with fresh thick fish on the inside. Not oily like some other shops. Never a dissapointment. Staff are very friendly and polite :) So glad I finally found a good and consistent fish and chip shop.
Highly recommend this place! The fish is always fried to perfection and the fish is fresh.
The chips cheese and gravy is also delicious too, the gravy is thick enough to coat the chips and not thin enough where is just looks like water.
Good for the owners that they’re so good. But sad for customers that order via app as when they are slammed they take themselves off the app. Keep up the good work guys!

Excellent quality fish chip are grate burgers are grate and the oil is always clean ... excellent service recommend the chicken souvlaki and the flake and chips truely reminds me of when I was a kid potato cakes and south melbourne market dim sums are a excellent addition ... been going to this place for over 20 years and never disappoints... best local fish shop highly recommend
Been to many fish and chips shop but i gotta say that this place is the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to. Very quality product used! Very fresh, clean good quality tasting oil, portion is great, Please don't ever change!
The best fish and chip shop in the area by far! The fish is so fresh and the chips are AMAZING. Everything is always crispy and never soggy, priced really well too. We literally come here every week, it's just that good.
My new go to for fish and chips!! Tried the grilled fish pack and it was delicious. The salad was fresh and the fish was perfectly grilled, very filling and great value for money. Great to see young and friendly staff. Definitely the best i’ve had in the west!

Really enjoyed my experience here! The burgers were fresh, juicy and delicious. The staff were very friendly and even included a few extras. Fair and reasonable prices and the quality went above and beyond and even met the expectations of a gourmet store. Will definitely be back! :)
Had a craving for a classic...The Chicko Roll so i headed down to Seddon to the Charles St establishment. Staff were friendly and it was great to see some youth behind the counter for once. Ordered the chicko roll swell as some fried dimmys and potato cakes. Very nice indeed. It was awesome to see that the items ordered were cooked in fresh oil judging by the color - nice golden brown - rather than a lot of other fish shops reusing their oil over and over..Well done guys..ill see you again definitely...
Very fresh and enjoyable! Also as a Brit I love the fact they have malt vinegar! Will be back again to try some bits and pieces, also I like the fact that the place looks very clean which is sadly lacking in a lot of other fish and chip shops!
Easily the best fish and chips in the West, if not melbourne. Fish always tastes very fresh, the the chips and potato cakes are always good. The wait on a Friday night just shows how popular/good this place is!

For a fish & chip shop this place does a pretty mean chicken schnitzel burger! And for a measly $3 you get a huge amount of chips! The venue was taken over earlier this year and the whole interior has been modernised, the new owners here are really friendly and we look forward to seeing them just as much as we do eating here. The tables & chairs out the front are a great addition. Great value for money.
Haven't had a chance to try all the items from their expansive menu... but they got the basics on point! Fish, chips, potato cakes, scallops, calamari were all nice and crispy. The scallops were so fat and juicy!! Thought I should balance it out so ordered a chicken skewer (protein!!) and it was pretty good. Might try a healthy "chicken and salad" meal from here next time.

Charles St Fish & Chips won, by a mile, and have been consistent in their quality, size and speed. The owners are very friendly too.

My go to for cheap no fuss lunch close to home! My bf really likes their potato cakes and nuggets. I like their battered fish! Will definitely get around to ordering a souvlaki soon! Friendly and efficient service!
