I had ordered for grilled squid with kimchi(although flavours were good,it was bit salty)
I ordered for specials for mains which were gnocchi and mackeral with grains, yoghurt.
Mains were really beautiful, fresh and flavoursome.
Staff was really helpful and smiling.
Sunday evening dinner with the place almost to ourselves - in stark contrast when we tried to eat there on the night before and couldn't get a seat!
Started with oysters and despite them already being pre opened, they were fresh and flavorsome.
Mains decisions were made somewhat difficult by the mouth watering descriptions of the specials given by our very attentive waiter.
Settled on the gnocchi and the swordfish. Fantastic dishes.
Wine list is predominantly South Australian and it is well thought. Some really excellent wines. Started with a pinot and finished the evening with beautiful French cheeses and a shiraz.
Definitely a stand out restaurant with a lot of hands on care and attention by talented owners.
Menu is good with good selection of food. I had the pizza and the base was a bread base, not a pizza base. The bread became soggy which detracted from the pizza origins. For $25.00 I expect what I was eating in Italy for $15.00. My wife had the burger. Big to say the least but the bun was also too much.
I liked it but it is expensive for what it is. Still needs a paint job and a spruce up. F
Amazing location and the food was fantastic. Perfect spot for a lovely meal by the beach. Will definitely go back and try more of the menu.
Although Lickerish has only been around for a few years, it feels like it's one of those institutions that's been there forever. It has a cosy, friendly atmosphere despite it's quite large size - created by the perfect hodge podge of furniture and decor. You feel like a country house went on a date with a fancy wine bar and you just met their offspring. Wooden tables; Wine blackboards; Fairy lights; candles; fresh flowers. It's awesome. There are a few outdoor tables to sit above the roadside and watch the world walk by, a much coveted spot in warm weather. The staff are super friendly and relaxed, fitting of somewhere in such an intrinsically seaside suburb like Semaphore. One of them managed to rattle off about 12 specials without missing a beat. The food took a little while to come out, but being able to relax and enjoy some drinks while waiting made it easier. Food highlights were definitely the mushroom arancini balls and zucchini flowers - I'm a sucker for a zucchini flowers. I once crossed Sydney during a Harbour Bridge traffic jam for a zucchini flower related emergency. Anyway... the pizzas at Lickerish were amazing too, I'd recommend the potato one in particular. The beverage list is an excellent representation of local SA winemakers and the overall menu prices are on par with the rest of the area. Some great specials make them worth a second look if you're not stuck on something on the main menu.
Come down here in Summer and hang on the balcony. Or come in winter and nestle into an indoor spot. Do it.
Full (and probably funnier version of) review on the blog now, link in bio :)
Uber attention to detail and perfectly balanced food at this gorgeous establishment.
This is becoming a rarity in Adelaide as plates of beautiful architecturally designed dishes leave the kitchen, land on your table and you are immediately impressed, only to realise half way through the dish, that the food is totally unbalanced, as it seems that presentation has now become more important than taste and balance.
Well, not at this place! They manage to do both, smartly presented dishes that are full of taste and well balanced!
Hallelujah!
We arrived early on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately, informed of the specials by our knowledgeable waitress, we ordered our meals, which was quite a difficult choice, as I liked so many dishes on the menu! Including the specials!
We had dips to start, excellent home made and the perfect amount of dips to bread! How many kitchens get that soooo wrong! Zucchini flowers, beautiful, lamb cutlets, uber yum and with the burst of pomegranates, it was a lovely touch. We then shared the gnocci special with tomatoes, goat cheese, spinach etc, great flavours and plenty of goat cheese, no skimping here! I would have, however, liked my gnocci just a bit lighter, but this is a small critique. We had a look at the desert menu but it was just a little non inspiring for us, pity as the caliber of the menu didn’t seem to match the dessert selection, again not really a big deal, but I was looking forward to something sweet and interesting. Stopped into Stephen Ter Horst on way home for sugar hit!
The restaurant has great balcony views and a lovely interior. Service is excellent with the only exception that our plates were not cleared for a very long time. But I will forgive this as the restaurant was absolutely jam packed and the staff were flat knacks!
Hint-If you want a nice quiet romantic night, I would not recommend Saturday night, it was incredibly busy with large groups as well as small and can get quite noisy. Maybe try during the week.
I look forward to returning to this uber establishment, specially on a warm night, so you can enjoy the balcony and the views!
Been here twice and and was only mildly disappointed due to an overcooked pizza base on the second visit. Besides that, the pizzas are presented with beautiful flavour combinations. Chefs are very generous with toppings and the waiting staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly.
Lickerish is so far my THE favourite restaurant. Service is super friendly, food is.... OMG heavenly? Interesting, full of flavour, always beautifully presented - I can go on and on and on but will stop here so as not to sound too creepy. Specials menu is a must-try.
Damn son! Was impressed this afternoon after a little lunch sesh at Likerish. Have been here a few times now but not for quite some time. I think they've stepped it up a notch recently. An attentive man-bunned lad was delivering service like a pro but it was the food that really stood out. Can recommend and I'll be back for sure!
Don't normally write reviews but it was nice to see somewhere doing something different. The Cafe is hidden away and has a nice ambience. The food was absolutely delicious, thoroughly enjoyed the lamb pizza and zucchini flowers and will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Came here for 'date night'. There is 3 allocated parks for patrons and semaphore is crap for parking so we were half an hour late to our booking, however staff were welcoming and friendly. The venue is gorgeous with a balcony and fairy lights and lanterns inside. The food was delicious and I will definitely be back.. Might just get a cab next time to avoid the stress of parking
I really like the food here and the service is great. I've eaten here a number of times and always been satisfied. If you're in semaphore and looking for a place o eat you can't go wrong
Wow, what an experience! My friend and I shared a pizza to start, which had a beautiful mix of mushrooms, egg and basil on a perfect base. The saffron gnocchi I indulged in later was to-die-for; tender and complemented well with a mix of squash and a variety of green vegetables. The pal's lamb burger looked terrific, and he was very impressed with the quality of meat. Service was attentive and friendly. I'd return in a heartbeat!
Great pizza every time.
Toppings are quality and in just the right amount to be truly delish!
I'm sure the other food is good too, but unfortunately we never get that far, always going for the Pizza!

With a view over looking the sea from the balcony it's hard to say no. The inside was cozy and would be a incredible setting for a party if they hired the venue out.
Service was good and we were greeted with a smile, and we had the share platter and my god the croquettes were to die for, so we picked at the platter as we basked in the sun above the Main Street where we were able to take in our surroundings. Definitely recommend it. Looking forward to returning!
OMG this was so amazing. Went here tonight for my husband's birthday. I got the roasted duck breast which was paired with golden beetroot, green beans, pomegranate, and oranges. It was to die for. My husband kept commenting on how he would just look over at me, and I was just shaking my head as I ate in amazement at how good the food was. I got the chocolate tart for dessert as well, which was very good. Loved the caramel popcorn as a complenment. Would have liked just a few more pieces so I could have a bit of caramel popcorn in every bite!
Others got the lamb shanks, the burgers, and the fish, and everyone was pleased with their meals. We got the share platter to start, and I thought the aranchini balls were absolutely amazing. My husband and his sister were crazy for the chips.
The service was really good. They try to work with you and help you find exactly what will suit you. They are not overbearing, but also there when you need them.
They also have artwork from South Australians around the restaurant that can be purchased. I really liked a lot of the artwork, and nice to have them supporting the local art scene.
Birthday dinner and first time diner. WOW! Highly recommended, delicious food, great service and perfect atmosphere. I've already started spreading the word, expect to get busier. This place is wonderful!
Came here for my wife's birthday dinner. Great service very tasty food on the menu, very fancy. So it's a little bit pricey but well worth it.
Like I said great service, great food, great place to eat.
Once you try Lickerish, you will no doubt want to keep coming back. Not only has the service been exceptional every time but I'm always intrigued and delighted by the amazing creations the head chef comes up with every week. The restaurant is beautifully presented and the staff are always happy to give their opinion on dishes and appropriate wines to pair. The prices are probably the only downside but you're paying more for service and quality.
Always save room for dessert!!
Amazing menu using beautiful, fresh ingredients. The staff were so lovely and the chef was excited to make anything from the menu into a vegan meal. Stunning sunset views from the balcony.
Yum!. I haven't been to lickerish for a while as I was underwhelmed on previous visits but I went tonight and they have lifted their game! We had a sharing platter which was delicious and also a special of stuffed squid which was AMAZING !!! And then the beach seafood pizza was lovely too. They have some lovely craft beers on the drinks list which makes my husband happy & the staff were friendly and helpful. What's not to love!
I have been a regular visitor to Lickerish over the past 12 months and every experience has been fantastic .. From a casual drink, lunch to a wedding I attended. I enjoy the friendly service and John and Justine have no issues with tailoring most meals to my dietary requirements which I happily enjoy with no fear of cross contamination. And the view of the ocean is amazing. I shall miss my lunches here when I begin my new job miles away.
Amazing! Extremely accommodating to vegan diet, we were told we could have just about any of the sides that went with the mains and everything we ordered was beautiful. Olives for starters then potato pizza, broccoli and fennel and orange salad, yum. Price was very responsible too.
Pan Fried Duck Breast with Pear, Walnut, Bean and Asparagus. One of the best duck dishes I've tasted!
Yummy!. Had the pork belly and steak there and both were fantastic!
Pork belly had crackling and the meat was tender yum!
Steak was done nicely and the salad that accompanied it was amazing!
Worth the money and will def visit again!
Food is great, hubby had beef checks which were amazing. I has gnocci which was great but very filling. Not quite sure on the look and feel. It's almost like the place could do with a makeover. Not sure if it's a cafe or restaurant but either way it needs an update. Cocktails are lovely but a tad pricey. Overall a 7/10.
What a find. My friends and I rolled into town for a weekend touring the wine regions, looking for a place to eat. What a treat to find this place on our first night. Spectacular food, delightful service, reasonable prices.
I ate the duck which was simply delightful, perfectly cooked and matched with a delicious South Australian red blend. Entree and dessert also spectacular.
Very nice. We sat outside on the balcony at lickerish and the atmosphere was lovely. We ordered an array of different plates and decided to share. The stuffed zucchini flowers and the pork belly were absolutely amazing.
Had Sunday lunch at Lickerish today. I have never reviewed a restaurant or cafe before but felt the need to after today! We ordered the arancini balls to start, they were outstanding! Full of flavour. We then had the slow cooked beef cheeks which were a special, and wow, they were absolutely beautiful! Falling apart, there was no need to even use a knife they were so tender and the flavour was delicious. Staff were also friendly and the live music gave some atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try some more of the menu!
Wow just had the Snapper Fish Cakes fantastic have ordered Lil Piggy Pizza so far so great! Well done to the Chef and staff! Good service too!
My partner and I dined for the first time at Lickerish on the weekend. We ordered an entree to share & we shared our mains. I wish I'd taken photos. Service, atmosphere and all of our dishes were fantastic. Thank you Thank you. It's so good to have a decent restaurant close to where we live. It will become our regular
Pleasant Experience. Enjoyed a Saturday lunch here. Service was great and staff were all friendly. Food tasted good and was reasonably priced, e.g. on the expensive side of average but of good quality and quantity. Menu had some great options, will definitely be back.
Perfect, amazing food. Had lunch here with a group of 10 people. We asked them to bring out a selection of plates for us all to share (so we didn't have to make a decision!). We all tried more than a dozen different items. Every single one was cooked to perfection. The flavours were amazing and we were all satisfied with the amount of food we were given too. Will definitely be back -thanks Lickerish!
Relaxed Dining, Tasty Food. Sampled the appetizers/starters via the Chef Selection Plate. Very tasty food. The house made (nice to see someone who knows the difference between home and house made) bread was terrific and a single mini-loaf was ample for two people. The Beetroot and Gin cured Salmon had a subtle flavour. The Pumpkin and Saffron Arancini and the Barramundi Croquettes, both delightful, as were the Piccalilli, Olives and Tapenade. Add a couple of each of the three styles of Oysters (sweet green chilli and creme fraiche, kilpatrick, and shallot vinegar), and a beautiful Lemon Curd Tart to finish and it was a lovely lunch.
Smoking - noting others have raised it.
I had inquired if the deck was non-smoking when I booked and was advised Yes and No. Smoking was permitted, so long as no-one objected. So when a group lit up, up wind of us just after our food had arrived I did just that.
Not sure if the hostess or the member of the table standing nearby when I did, asked them to move downstairs. But which ever it was, same result.
While there were no ashtrays on the tables, nor where there 'No Smoking' signs. As a non-smoker I would have thought the absence of ashtrays should have been enough, but I guess if graphic health warnings on packages don't stop you then signs on tables might be required.

Great good, great location!. Visited Lickerish for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back.
The location is wonderful and overlooks Semaphore Road and the sea. The waitress was polite and very friendly.
Food was amazing! The lamb pizza I ordered if one of the best I've ever had. It was a decent size too. My boyfriend also loved his trout salad. Highly recommended restaurant.
Good vego choices. Lovely to have a choice of interesting vegetarian dishes. The ubiquitous gnocchi was the main course selection but I was able to choose instead truly yummy stuffed zucchini flowers and a side dish of equally delicious roasted mushrooms. Lovely, obliging service as well. A real treat. Thank you!
There are so many great things about Lickerish. Johns food shows his passion in creating food that speaks from the heart, Justine is open, warm and bubbly and together John, Justine and their wonderful staff have created an experience that feels like home. I could not complement Lickerish enough on all they have to offer. The only disappointment is I live in Seaford and Semaphore is so far away!!
The first time I came here it was great. One of the best pizzas I have had in a long time and I good quality piece of steak. The steak was overdone but still left me wanting more. After talking this place up to my whole family I finally decided to take them out for dinner just to try it. Booked a table and spoke to a really bubbly young lady who made me feel confident in my decision to go here. When we all arrived at the restaurant we were informed that they were only serving pizzas and entrees??? No mains. Safe to say we made the group decision to go elsewhere. I don't know if I can ever return based on the fact that my last experience here (or lack of experience) was such a let down (what restaurant doesn't serve mains). It's a real shame considering how much I enjoyed my first visit. I think I will try it again but I'm never going to recommend it to anyone.
Wonderful late afternoon lunch!. When I rang to check if I needed to book for a later lunch on a Thursday afternoon, Justine laughed and said that we'd probably be the only people there, but she'd look after me. And so it proved, when we arrived we were the only diners, and got to enjoy a gorgeous afternoon eating and drinking on the balcony, and watching the sun set over Semaphore beach. Justine looked after us beautifully. Highlights of the meal were the fried chicken, the arancini, and the stuffed baby squid from the sharing plate, and the pork belly pizza was unusual but absolutely fantastic! I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable afternoon at a restaurant and suggest that whenever you're in the Western suburbs and want a perfectly prepared high quality casual meal in a relaxed, welcoming but professional restaurant, get into Lickerish!
Wish we were going back tomorrow night!
We had a sensational dinner at Lickerish. Adelaide, get out and support great places like this! The service was friendly and relaxed, including the offer of blankets for the older members of our group (how thoughtful is that?! Not needed though). For mains we had 1) 400gm beef fillet with crispy fries, which was delicious and perfectly cooked to order - personally we thought this would have looked more complete with some wilted greens or broccolini but it did taste sensational; 2) pork belly and scallops - I didn't taste this but reportedly v nice; 3) swordfish with kale and j artichoke purée - we had cooked swordfish ourselves only a week earlier but Lickerish's was MUCH better! Totally melted in the mouth; 4) pork hock in sherry sauce with beans and wilted greens - all agreed this was the star of the show. You must must must try! The pork was soft inside and crispy outside. The sauce was perfection. The egg yolk oozed.... Yes I wanted to lick the plate! For dessert we had the creme brûlée trio and two fondants with pistachio icecream plus hot chocolate, latte and an affogato with Baileys - all delicious. Total bill $37/head (4 people) which I think is good value for the quality of food. We enjoyed the evening and will definitely come back.
YUMMMM.. I was so surprised on walking into Lickerish. Semaphore not my usual haunt and came out of my way to try this after a friend referred me. A bit derro downstairs on the street level but an oasis of charm and cute upstairs. views wine food A+. Actually the food was divine. I've taken food snob mates here and they have been well pleased, jealous even. Must try the pork hock. omg. Chicken pie super tasty. Staff are good, fun and relaxed service but seem to know their stuff. Definitely returning.
I love lickerish. Best food ever! everything was perfect. Ordered the short ribs and it was the best ive ever had. Service is great, pizzas are amazing! I wish I could eat here every night! Very highly recommended
New addition to my top 10. I can't believe I've never been to semaphore before and I can't believe this amazing hidden treasure of a restaurant! Firstly, what a gorgeous view over the beach. It set the scene for a memorable meal and I will definitely be coming back for many more.
I had the chicken pie. I only wish they gave me two. It was brilliant - deliciously short crumbly pastry holding tender and perfectly spiced chicken. It was sitting on a bed of carrot purée and I wasn't perticularly enthusiastic about that when I ordered it but it was buttery and creamy and a perfect match to cut through the rich flavour of the pie. My friend had the local prawn and garfish dish - loved every morsel.
We shared the chocolate dessert and were fighting over the last forkful. Again, delicious.
I love my wine and they had a great range of local, Aussie and foreign wine.
It was freezing last night and the gorgeous waitress brought us out blankets to make sure we didn't get cold on the balcony. Seriously.
Worth a visit to unearth this hidden treasure in Adelaide's west.
Stan. Their passion and ability makes me wish I could eat there more often. With a menu and wine list that evolves everytime I eat there I'm rarely disappointed. The staff are well versed with the food, friendly and welcoming. The menu allows you to be casual or enjoy a more formal experience. Have to laugh at other reviews on here questioning price. Think I spied a Primos across the road if that was detractors main concern. Can't wait to see what they are like in a couple of years. Strongly recomend the zucchini flowers. Love the hock. And pizzas for pure value for money, I would put up against anything in Adelaide.
I've been here a couple times now and I can't fault it. Walking in it feels like a friends home, a friend who's an AMAZING cook!! You can snuggle on the couch with a cheese plate and a glass of wine or sit at the tables for something more refined. The staff are warm and have brought me a blanket for my knees when sitting on the balcony, very cute. Great food. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's exactly what I want in my local!
Fabulous. Lickerish was chosen as the venue for a 50th birthday celebration and it was fantastic. All of the food on offer was beautifully prepared and presented, fresh, delicious and original. The guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food and what a great venue it was. The service was friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making this occasion so enjoyable. Will definitely be recommending and returning.
Lickerish is an apt name because we were all wanting to lick our plates clean. Fantastic food. For starters, the zucchini flowers and the Atlantic ginger cured salmon were standouts, and the mains, wow, the pork hock, the duck and the chicken were amazing. Besides that it must be one of the most romantic spots in Adelaide with the amazing sunset views. The service was awesome and the manager really knew her wines, her recommendations were spot on. Thanks Lickerish! Will def go back again and again.
This restaurant is all sorts. See what did there?
Lickerish is a salty hit from miami beach, serving up really nice pizzas and a rather tasty set of entrees. We enjoyed the mixed plate for entree, but one of our diners was unable to handle the chicken terrine due to an unappealing texture and the fear of some form of pork meat in the vicinity. It must be said that this criticism was unfounded as we were assured that the chicken was in fact chicken, and was also delicious.
The stuffed squid were little morsels of delicious embryonic beauty, and the zucchini flowers were as delicious as they were crispy. We had the beach, lamb, Margherita and special pizza and each was cooked very well.
We attempted to finish the mean with a single takeaway coffee for the whole table, but were unfortunately told that there was no takeaway cups, some would say unacceptable, we had no issue and enjoyed a very nice flat white, the desserts sounded exceptional, but we were about to go home and gorge on Easter treats so we maintained our dignity and dress sizes and asked for the bill.
Beautifully done.
Absolutely delicious! We h.... Absolutely delicious!
We had an amazing night at Lickerish. Beautiful fresh dishes, excellent service and nice surroundings. I loved every dish - I can't wait to go back! Please make the pork hock dish a regular!!
Amazing food.. gorgeous service. .. and the wine reccomendations were such a good call. So thrilled with my lickorish experience... well done ladies xx
Top location, great food and service, drinks too expensive though
Had dinner here on the weekend with some friends. One of the best meals out I have ever had. Amazingly awesome food (the stuffed squid and zucchini flowers are delicious. Don't get me started on desserts). The thing for us that really set the experience off was the service was amazing! Justine was so lovely and really made our night so easy and fun. I will be back for sure!!
Oh my god ! The stuffed baby squids r the best ! They know how to cook the sea food!
Fantastic. We had the stuffed squid, it was tender and flavorsome, the fish croquettes was divine, crispy outside, soft and delicate inside, not too potato filled and not at all oily, a favorite! The fungi gnocchi was also amazing soft pillowy and full of truffle flavour, mushrooms cooked perfectly. Seafood pizza was ok, topping very fresh and tasty but base was a tad too dry but even then still beats most other places. The octopus in the octopus salad was the most tender I have ever tasted but as a whole lacked flavour. Great coffee and the chocolate cake was also a winner!
In fact this was one of the best meals we have ever eaten in Adelaide in the last few years! Honest flavours, the best and freshest ingredients not gimmicky like some other places. You don't need smoke and mirrors (ie foam and pretty flowers) when you can cook this well. Oh and the prices extremely reasonable for the quality, service was friendly but not in your face and the views from the balcony perfect!
Can not sing enough praises about this place, wish them deserved success!
Footnote: we went to Star of Greece few months ago which seems to get alot of hype for the surroundings but the food was a huge let down and prices are truly shocking, I wish we knew about this place sooner!
Love, love, love this place. Great food, great service and (best of all) a great cheese selection. Wonderfully located upstairs with a great view up and down semaphore rd from the balcony, I kind of feel like I'm on holiday whenever I go there. Spot on with ambience and atmosphore. Bravo!
Would recommend to any of my freinds, good food, very good attentive service. My steak was excellent, my wife loved her main course, only negative, I any was, on a cool night don't eat outside, bit cold.
Came here for a girls dinner and was delighted with the friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and the delicious food - particularly recommend the porcini gnocchi!
Mmmmmm, beetroot & gin salmon & zucchini flowers. Will definitely be returning to work thru the menu. Great location, looking forward to summer nights on the balcony
Fabulous and fantastic!. This is not Adelaide dining, this is creative, innovative and authentic. Flavours that are truthful and fun. Combining a authentic french terrine with a CWA* cauliflower pickle. Perfect! The terrine was classical french, I've not tried anything as authentic since the hey day of the Magic Flute back in the early 1980s. And the cauliflower pickle was a kicker that could have taken out the first prize in the Burra Country Show. The combination was inspired and fun. And that was only one corner of the shared platter. Arancini that melt and are full of flavour, conversation stoppers. Grab a friend that enjoys food and you're in for a perfect culinary evening, or lunch.
You think that you've decided on what to eat and then you hear about the specials. Mmmmm. Taxing decisions. We went for the seared tuna with a perfect salad of fresh tomatoes and melted cheese. As for the rabbit pie. Very English, pastry that reminded you of what the English do well. Sitting on a perfect combination of sweet potato mash and reduced sauce. Balance and flavour.
Service is fantastic. Real people interested in food and life. Such fun. Perfect tone for the evening. No problem that we needed to watch a tennis match before arriving. No problem that the bottle we brought along was old and needed decanting. No problem that I felt a little cold on the balcony, a big wrap appeared and instantly enfolded me. A lesson in genuine hospitality.
These people love what they do, and are very good at it.
The ambience and space is great. Lots of room between tables. Old fashioned batts on the ceiling that absorb the sound, so you are able to have conversations with friends. Balconies that poke out onto the main drag. A space that can enhance a variety of occassions.
The menu is a lesson in how to accomodate a variety of needs. Just finished a day at the beach with the kids; first date with a potential lover; catching up with old friends and looking to have a long lunch. This place suits everyone.
There is a whole section of the menu with pizza(s) that are very tempting but I haven't yet been able to get past the regular items.
Rumor has it they have the best burger on the street: and they are open lunch times.
Worth a visit, for any occasion.
*Country Women's Association, aka grandma's recipes.
Fresh and inviting. If you are looking for fresh food and variety then this is the place. The many dishes on the specials menu all sounded great but I could only choose one! The duck.. I was not disappointed. My friend from the Eastern suburbs was impressed. We will both return . The service and food were outstanding.
Fancy food without the fuss. I wasn't sure what to expect from Lickerish after reading some mixed reviews, but after two visits I'm impressed and will definitely be back for thirds.
The food is good value for money with many of the mains in the mid $20's. Zucchini Flowers, Pork Hock, Duck, Gnocchi all went down well at our table, with well balanced flavours. The chocolate dessert with salted caramel nuts had great texture (it's pretty rich so was ideal to share). Not so convinced about the trio of creme brulee. It wasn't bad, but I thought it was a bit gimmicky and the flavours competed with each other. I think one standout brulee would be a better option. Hooray for a wine list with something other than Jansz or Bird in Hand as a sparkling. Not that I'd ever knock back a glass of either, but Lickerish's list is way more interesting than most.
As for the service. Well it's not exactly seamless. On my second visit our waitress was a tad on the forgetful side (although didn't miss a beat on the specials), but she was so funny and apologetic about it, it became rather entertaining. Plus she gave us our first drinks for free... so all is forgiven. The owner Justine (her husband is the chef) is also highly entertaining out the front... possibly not everyone's cup of tea... but I found her warm and unpretentious and she clearly knows her stuff.
Decor isn't particularly memorable, but the elegant but casual vibe suits the location and is a big step up from the previous wine bar that filled this space.
All in all Lickerish is a great addition to Semaphore's thriving cafe/restaurant scene and is fancy without being fussy.
TABLE of 12.. Great Experience!
I must say I am very happy I didn't take note of Paulgo's and a couple of others reviews on this place! (as more times than not, I do!)
We had a table of 12 for my wives birthday, which was catered for perfectly on a long table.
PLACE:
The ambience has a slight rustic feel with both inside and alfresco style dining available. The menu dishes are very easy to read and understand and extensive wine list all based on simple clip boards.
FOOD:
A few of our guests ordered entree which ended up being shared throughout the group on advice from staff, as some of the mains do take time to cook. I for one was very happy that this idea was suggested, yum.
The mains came out and were accompanied by the wines to match. They have a well balanced and extensive wine list that will please even the harshest of critics ($28.00 - $140.00).
I ordered the Sirloin of Angus Beef with a Braised Beef and Mushroom Pie ($31.00), it was cooked perfectly and went perfectly with our chosen red. A few on the table selected a range of Gourmet pizzas ($22.00) that most tasted and devoured them accordingly.
The staff were always courteous, even though the restuarant was very busy everything seemed to flow, with the waiting staff at times being somewhat transparent, which to me is a sign of quality!
All in all the gourmet entrees, pizzas served on rustic wooden platters and mouth watering mains left our table more than impressed.
If you would like to enjoy a quality meal and service at a very reasonable price, this is well worth a try!!!
Awsome food, dishes came out all at once, great atmosphere
Awesome dinner at Lickerish last night! Great spot and service. Food was amazing! Stuffed baby squid was a highlight. Menu looks small in terms of mains options but there were half a dozen specials for mains that all sounded amazing. We can't wait to come back to try more! Highly recommended!
Proper good food!. So exciting to have a new option in semaphore with really delicious and high quality food.
the menu is reasonably priced and with some different and creative offerings.
the tomato salad is brilliant - one of the best dishes i've had in a while in terms of flavour, balance, technique and creativity. a lesson in letting beautiful flavours speak for themselves by treating them the right way.
the decor is nice and calming but feels a little sparse at the moment - perhaps because it's still relatively new. i hope this place sticks around long enough to develop some more charm and warmth because the food and service are fantastic.
will certainly return! onya john and justine!
Semaphore slick. Dined here on Saturday night for the first time with some friends who live down that way. Let me tell you folks, it was worth the drive down from North Adelaide. I love the feel of this place, kind of beach-housey for want of a better word, and the staff we had were friendly and knowledgeable. There are lots of specials on offer and a really diverse menu ranging from a charcuterie plate to pizzas and what appeared to be a really yummy rib eye of beef from the specials menu. Two of us had the slow roasted lamb shoulder which was sensational - the lamb was so tender and the primavera vegetables and jus were nice accompaniments. In fact it was so good I could have almost licked the plate. My other friend had the snook fillet from the specials list (lucky last) which was wrapped in prosciutto- again beautifully executed. My dessert of mulberry clafoutis was stunning and the trio of creme caramels a definite winner. Service throughout was flawless and timing perfect. I can't wait to go back. Well done guys you are going to have a very busy summer.
I like lickerish. I dined at Lickerish on Sunday 14 October. I had a dozen kilpatrick oysters which were sensational. I don't understand the previous reviewer who should perhaps check for spelling mistakes if they would like to be taken seriously... I also had the duck breast which was incredibly tender. I found the service to be friendly and efficient. Will dine again.
Stopped by for few beers and light bite on a hot day with visitors from UK. Great location and views, very high quality food (the share plate) and awesome service.
Look forward to returning soon for a big meal!
Ummm who picked up this restaurant and transported it from the chic and top quality Melbourne scene? A bloody fantastic menu of contemporary Australian food complemented with delicious wines, funky atmosphere by the beach and ludicrously good service. Plate servings were huge and we struggled to share a few dishes between two of us! Absolutely awesome
Very nice place.. great location... staff are fab and nice wine list too !!
Fine dining with delicious food. What I love the most is the ambient, atmosphere and laid back yet friendly customer service.
If only the meals were a little more filling (some are tiny at a large cost) but good quality produce and healthy too!
I'm definitely a regular here.
Great venue. Have played here several times with my band for various functions including weddings and parties and the vibe has been great. Intimate and quirky. Great food and lovely staff! The coffee is delicious too!
Went here for dinner last night and absolutely LOVED it. The girls were just lovely and took the time to explain the menu and specials, as well as recommendations. I had the duo board, arancini balls and Beetroot gnocchi which were all a knockout, flavoursome and filling. The chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert was decadent and so so delicious. Gorgeous ambience and set up. 10/10 recommend, will be eating there again.
Limited menu, but nothing wrong with that as it is all still a fantastic selection.
Pizza had a wonderful flavour and to our surprise a wonderfully crisp and delicious base (hard to come by nowadays).
Pork ribs were exeptional.
Extremely fast service and wonderful staff who accomodated us well.
Incredible atmosphere, amazing decor and artworks, dimly lit (but not dark) and incredible music choice (love Ocean Alley).
Made for an excellent spontanious date night that was much needed. Will definately be back.
