Haven’t been for awhile but live in semaphore. Last time had a light meal and was good. Today had the Swedish meat balls (as one does) and haven’t enjoyed a meal more in a long time. Portion was good size, flavours fantastic , cucumber pickle perfect and the mash the best. Staff are attentive quick and readily fix issues with a congenial manner. Perfect place for timely fresh wholesome food. Do yourself a favour...
Enjoyed the sea breeze sitting on the footpath whilst enjoying these delicious cakes. Names escape me but the green one was lovely. Proficient service and lovely that water available. At $20 for two - incl a flat white and iced coffee - reasonable value.
The coffee here at Swedish Tarts is amazing! I love the layout and look of the cafe and have never had a bad experience. Yet to try the food from here but from what I’ve seen, looks great!
This place is a great go-to for catching up with friends for coffee and cake. The foods great too, but I love the clean treats they have and the coffees always good. Great service too.
My absolute favourite place in Semaphore to eat breakfast anytime of the day. I love everything about this place from the vibe to the menu to the service. My favourite thing to eat is the breakfast flatbread it is seriously amazing! Warning tho if you're a small eater it will be too much for you. The picture below is the vegan breakfast add eggs - it's well priced at $17. Good coffees, sensational fresh squeezed juice. Go and try this place. Perfect for a cute date
Lemon and lime tarts are delicious, with perfect shortcrust. I would happily eat these every day! Everything in the display looks fresh and tasty.
After so many years, Swedish Tarts have still got it! Always a steady stream of customers, funky wall decorations add to the cool interior, and delicious pasties make this a solid bakery cafe. Just yum!
Swedish tarts continues to be a go to destination whenever we're in the local area. The food is good and the cakes are delicious. There's a great range of gluten free treats which is perfect for those looking for something sweet that differs from the standard gluten free desserts. I can't pass up the Swedish flatbread, it's so tasty and a great brunch or lunch option. Weekends brunch and lunch is popular so you may struggle to get a table.
I have been here at least half a dozen times over the past few years. When I was living in Australia and working for the local Council, I used to visit with my colleagues for lunch and have their meatballs, which were always well cooked and quite flavoursome, especially the potato accompaniment. I have never had genuine swedish meatballs though (are Ikea's authentic?) and therefore my judgement of them might be off key, but it's what you think at the time that counts, isn't it?
I brought my girlfriend here last year when I brought her to Adelaide to meet my family, and we had a berry smoothie, iced coffee and some tarts. Their juices are thick and taste fresh, and their tarts are delicious - you'd hope that a cafe that has the name 'tarts' in their title would make good ones!
They do have a massive menu, and a big cabinet with lots of selection choices, but isn't this good? Gives everyone the opportunity to find something that they like.
Parking is often a struggle, especially around lunch time. You may just need to find a side street and go for a bit of a walk. Definitely don't assume that you'll get a park out the front along Semaphore Road. Their store is otherwise in a great location, close to the beach.
Absolutely delicious! Great selection of gluten free and non gluten free cakes. 3 locations in Adelaide. Service was also good. Would highly recommend.
Wonderfully friendly staff, fast passed service and in a warm atmosphere even in terrible weather and with many customers. Coffee was 3.5/5. Desserts are generous, delightful and in many cases unseen elsewhere for sheer variety and creativity especially in such a laid-back cafe setting. Highly recommend for other sweetthoothes looking for new and unusual delights.
This Swedish cafe in semaphore is an old favourite. We sit outside and have brunch and have never been disappointed. Today I tried one of the six or seven flat bread options. The bread is folded like an omelette over the filling. It was delicious - feta, mushrooms and spinach. This is a seriously popular venue on the weekends. You can walk the jetty or the beach later on.
Its brilliant its food is high Quality And every dish seems to be iced in detail and made with love.
It's pea soup is made traditionally and is Devine.
I am far from a vegan but thought I would try the vegan special burger and it is one of the best burgers iv ever had.
It bustled with clientele and the service didn't skip a beat and was very friendly and warm would highly recommend this place.
Foodman. Far out this place is Amazing. A bit different from the rest (thank god) and the food and coffee was fantastic. Super busy which meant the staff were a bit overwhelmed but that is only understandable in such a thriving business. You got my vote. See you next time for those beautiful swedish meatballs... mmmmmmm mmmm
Any excuse to come here & I'm there!!! Love the freshly brewed teas, apple cinnamon & the blueberry one are two of my favourites. Then we can't go past the amazing tarts & sweet treats. I think I've tried most when next time I come & they have a new delectable delight in the cabinet. Savoury foods especially the crepes are delicious also using great flavours & portion sizes are decent. A great place when the weather is fine to sit relax enjoy a cuppa & sweet treat and catch up with a friend or brunch on a lazy morning.
I actually really like this cafe. The smoked salmon quiche that I had was so good. The cafe was very busy when we were there but service was still brisk and courteous. Will go back again.
Food & coffee great, service slow & unimpressive.
I have been twice to this restaurant. The food was nice, service was ok.
Great little place- must try the crepes for dessert!!
Excellent food I had the passion fruit tart also the mango lase with spices is great
Lunchtime. Make sure you try one of the flat bread meals.
The Missing Toasted Sandwich. Hello lovelies @ Henley Swedish Tarts, we have become sweet regulars @ your Patisserie but unfortunately on Sunday our order for a very simple toasted ham & cheese sandwich for a very fussy 7 year old became extraordinary difficult???
The first thing that was wrongly delivered to us was one of your flatbreads with ham, cheese & tomatoe so it was sent back to your busy kitchen, then i re- approached one of your waiting staff & asked them for a very simple toasted ham & cheese sandwich please with no garnish.
A lot of time elapsed by & nothing arrived then eventually a young man from your kitchen came out to us to apologise for the delay & asked us once again what we wanted & i repeated our order a simple ham & cheese toasted sandwich?
More time passed and our wrong order once again finally arrived & it was the non ordered flatbread with ham & cheese that looks like an omellete far toooo big & expensive for a 7 year old!
It's a terrible feeling to have to pay soooo much money for a simple toasted sandwich that never arrived ??
Wouldn't come back for the bland coffee. But would come back for the summer salad I had, value for money, in not sure I'll be able to finish it! Good simple flavours. Service is above average but not tip worthy.
Simple, delicious food. Popped into this popular eatery for Sunday brunch with my other half and was met with fast & friendly service and good food. It's a busy spot so we were happy we had booked a table the night before. Love the fit out with its array of mismatched tables & chairs, interesting art and funky light fittings. There is a large menu with classic breakfasts, pancakes, homemade filled flatbreads and a range of pies, tarts & cakes on display. I ordered the chilli eggs with coriander on toast and my other half had the smoked salmon & scrambled eggs with dill dressing on toast. Our toast was thin, crispy sourdough which was a great vehicle for our light, fluffy eggs. The chilli eggs were great with a mixture of fresh chopped chilli and dried chilli flakes in it which combined well with the coriander. The smoked salmon dish was a classic combination which got also got a thumbs up! The coffee wasn't bad but was a little on the weak side. We got a piece of the famous Swedish scab cake takeaway and it was amazing... could be very addictive! Overall we had a great experience and we'll be back! :)
Awesome crepe and flatbread!. My partner and I always come here for their freshly made to order crepes and flatbread. They are super yum and different compared to your regular breakfast that you could find in any other cafes. Try their smoked salmon or prosciutto crepe - very tasty and fresh. And after your meal, you can walk along the beach too.
Lovely. First time visitor, we went for lunch today. The girls were very nice and friendly, service was prompt, coffee lovely and Swedish meatballs were delicious. Will be back, I saw crepes and they looked good!
I used to only come to Semaphore for the beach but now Swedish Tarts has given me a better reason :)
Really nice food and coffee and the staff are friendly. They've recently expanded and now have an on-site bakery. It's good to know that there's at least one cafe in Semaphore that does all its own baking.
Best cafe in Semaphore. I'm local to Semaphore and I absolutely adore this cafe. I come here every time I'm nearby. They've recently renovated and expanded but they've managed to maintain their unique atmosphere. The coffee is great and the menu is perhaps a bit more unusual than most but it certainly pays to be adventurous. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a refreshing change to see all the baking being done in their very open on-site bakery.
It can be very busy at times and it is worthwhile avoiding rush-hours if you really want to enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Yum!!!!. I am originally Swedish and hence was intrigued by this place. Am also somewhat fussy, but must say that we had a great experience here!!! We only stopped for coffee and cake, I had a traditional, very Swedish, Mazarin (small, almond paste filled pastry shell) and my husband had the house special. VERY nice!! OK, so maybe a bit different, but you would find it like this in any top class Swedish patisserie!!!!
Go and get the cash, it's well worth it!!!
Good all day breaky. Was tempted to try the swedish fat pancakes, but had the bacon (good quality bacon) and scrambled eggs, delicious. Hubby had the farmers omlette with bacon and vegetables, which did not stand a chance on his plate. Quick service and friendly staff helped too. Only downside the coffee was a bit bitter.
This place is packed today. Food service was timely and friendly. Food was beautiful and fresh. Really interesting bread under my salmon omelette. Good value for money. We will return.
So-so. The food was alright...probably the fat swedish pancake is worth another try (but fattening :P). The bowl of hot choc and/or latte is interesting.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes at Semaphore. This one stood out because of the blue and yellow sign. We drove past this cafe a few times, and it is always busy, whether inside or seats outside the cafe. It is not a big cafe, a few tables outside, and a couple of low seats looking onto Semaphore road and a few tables inside.
Winter is here. The heater is on. I have the flu and I love pie. I am yet to master an amazing pie and so I settle (and by settle, i don't mean settle at all) for a home-made pie from Swedish Tarts. This place is such a little gem. So cute and the cakes a
Brilliant little seaside cafe! Staff brought a lovely vibe to the already busy little cafe. Selection of food was awesome including tarts and pastries. We had a couple and they were delicious. Coffee was also brilliant. Highly recommend!
First time here. It won't be the last!!! Great coffee and delicious Buddha Bowl. Love Semaphore. It's kept its village character unlike other suburban beach suburbs.
Fantastic breakfast, coffee & juices.
Friendly staff and your dog is more than welcome too 🥰 see you again soon!
You want Adelaide’s biggest coffee? Order the large here - the mug is ginormous and will get you buzzing in no time. Friendly service and great food. The home made bread was delicious as well as the rest of my smashed avo add mushies - too yum!
Seating available inside or outside. Staff are friendly and accommodating to dietary requirements. Great option for a coffee, brunch or lunch. Busy spot with people ordering take away. The food i had was delicious and will be returning.
