Review New York Dreams - Semaphore

If you are looking for American Style BBQ, then Low & Slow is the place. I have personally have come to this restaurant for several years and I have not had any bad experiences. The meat is always cooked perfectly, the side dishes are always on point, the sauces are homemade which makes them that bit extra tasty and finally they have great crafty beers go with the food. We did the feed me option and bit of an advice, rock up hungry because we couldn't finish the food as the portions are big. I really enjoy coming down to Low & Slow and cannot wait to go back again.

We absolutely loved every bite, staff were welcoming and attentive, no item of food was disappointing. We will definitely be back. I would suggest if you have accessibility needs letting the restaurant know when you book so this can be accommodated. It's a little pricey but for the quality and the uniqueness (doubt there's anywhere else here like it), I think it's worth the hype. My only hope is some day they will add American biscuits and gravy to the menu because I'd love to try it!

Meat lovers should definitely try this place, and you need to BOOK THE TABLE in advance, they open at 6pm, and all the tables inside were taken at 6:05. They offer great customer service and the staffs are all really friendly. every thing they offer from their menu are delicious, the pork ribs, sausage, pulled pork, beef brisket even the chicken wings are nice. The side dishes are also really good plus the desert. However it is a bit overpriced if you go for that “let us feed you” option and will be better if you order them separately. Overall great experience.

Drove here from the cbd. Worth the 40 minute round trip. Ribs . Amazing Brisket. Amazing Food… amazing Just look at that platter, me and a friend shared this plate, and there was enough for lunch tomorrow. Highly recommend it. Great staff too

Service is excellent. Special effort was made for dietary requirements. The meats melt in your mouth and the sides go perfectly. You’ll likely end up with another full meal to takeaway due to the extra large portions.

5/5 experience if you want a taste of good bbq foods. The customer service was fast and the food was delicious. My partner and I had the "let us feed you" menu where we paid $42 pp and got 5 meats and 4 side dishes. As there is only 5 meat options available we got the lot, so pulled pork shoulder, beef brisket, hot wings, pork ribs and a double smoked cheese kransky. My favourite was the ribs as it wasn't doused in bbq sauce and I could taste the meat. The accompanied sauces were house made bbq sauce, blue cheese sauce (went superb with the hot wings) and some spicy hot sauce. The sides we had were the bread & butter pickles, Mac and cheese, Texas brisket chilli and collard greens. In hindsight, the pickles and Mac and cheese suited the bbq foods the most but the other side dishes were great but didn't really add to the food. For example, the pickles cut through the grease of the bbq foods and the Mac and cheese cleansed your palate and really suited what's on the plate. The cocktails were also pretty good and the range was excellent considering the size of the store. For those who want to come here I highly recommend booking because it was packed. Overall, my partner and I were stuffed and struggled to finish the tray of goodies, didn't even make it to dessert. So the food serving is awesome here and if you want ribs that taste like ribs and not bbq sauce, this is the place to go.

The menus are hard to read, small portions and food quality was pretty average. The alcoholic drink was nice (despite the fact I'm still feeling the acid reflux from it hours later) but overpriced. $69 to feed 2 people with small amounts.. Sorry but will not be returning, especially after getting the bill!! Their ala carte deal with mix and match options sounds complex when explained, but that was $40+ each person for food that lacks quality and portions, we now know... food is okay, but there's better American style food out there that's not this expensive. Disappointing.

Absolutely mouthwatering and very yummy...we had a selection of all the meats and got to choose 3 sides...the staff were great and very helpful...the waitress didn't know what was in one of the cocktails so she sent the barman to see us....will definitely go back again

I guess you get what you pay for..New York Dreams was okay and perfect for a cheap and tasty recovery/cheat meal. The buns were super fresh, toppings were generous toppings and cute presentation in little American baskets. Well worth the price!

This place serves absolute slop. I stopped past for a quick hotdog....ordered the most basic hotdog available (just with sauce and butter) for the exorbitant price of $5.00. I then proceeded to wait for more than 15 minutes (!!!) for them to make such a basic hotdog! When it was finally ready, it had been MICROWAVED, bun and all, to yield a soggy, wet hotdog that was shrivelled and over-cooked.

Possibly the worst hotdog i have ever had. This is your specialty??? Really?? I cant believe this place has survived this long. Do yourself a favour and buy anything other than a hotdog from here. Rubbish.

the dogs we ate were super fresh, and the chili cheese fries were cooked fresh. the flavors were good as I haven't been to the states before didn't know what to really expect. being pregnant most foods make me feel sick straight away but the dream dog was just right.

Great food!. Went to New York Dreams for dinner with my partner last week. The staff weren't overly friendly, but weren't rude either. I was skeptical because I thought it was a bit pricey but ended up getting nuggets and chips ($6.95 I think?) They were great! The nuggets seemed less processed than elsewhere and the chips had great seasoning. My partner had the Dream Dog which he enjoyed - but the skin on the kransky made it awkward to eat. We thought the food was great and enjoyed the experience of really feeling like we were in New York! Will eat there again sometime.

Can not believe how awful the hotdogs are. Soggy bland and a hot dog sausage that you could get at foodland and for $8.95 rip off. Really over priced $11.95 Nachos were awful too the little sprinkling of cheese wasn't even melted and was cold. Never again. Don't go there save your cash you could do a better job at home for less money.

Tuesday all-you-can-eat chicken wings for $20. I'm a little conflicted on this price - it IS expensive, plus it's time restricted to 1 hour. At the same time though, these were pretty good chicken wings. As decent as any up-market Americana diner. Sure the presentation could do with some work (serve it on a chopping board, add lemon wedges and celery, get served by a dirty hipster, etc), but then it would be even more expensive. You must try the buffalo wings with ranch sauce. Clearly the best flavour on the menu. Spicy and tomato-ey. After that, get the honey bbq. And then if you've still got room, the honey and soy. Lemon and pepper was okay, but a little too salty for my tastes.

Can't vouch for the hot dogs - maybe some other time...
Chris
Bland, tasteless, expensive. It manages to pull the trifecta of bad food. Uses America as a marketing tool but the food can't back up the claims, true US hot dogs are big on flavor with a crisp skin hot dog. These are soggy microwaved things. You're honestly better off at Wendy's.

Tasty and Great Value. I had visited this spot for the first time over the weekend. I was greeted by friendly staff and was hit by a delicious smell as i walked in.
There were about 10 different dogs on the menue and I was told the Dream dog and Harlem Chilli dog were the most popular. I ordered one of each and a Dr pepper and Oreo Milkshake.
Delicious!! Price average and Amazing taste.
Would recommend anyone to visit for a great tasting dog.

Yum!. Staff are friendly, hotdog and chilli fries are great! I live about an hour away and have made the trip a few times I enjoyed it that much.

We ordered a hotdog, chilli cheese fries and cornbread. The cornbread was the only thing I'd say was tasty, the fries and dog were very average. Not a good imitation of American fast food if you've been to the states!

Great food but really slow service on a not so busy night...looking forward to more great food next time (just a bit more speedy :-))

Don't Bother. Ikea has better hot dogs

We were excited to try New York dreams... But were quickly disappointed on the quality of the food. This place potential - I just hope it improves!

American Shame. Those who have tasted American hotdogs know how glorious this food is and will just keep you begging for more and is quite a popular snack when attending sport activities. Sadly this place does not provide you that experience.

I came here Saturday night with a friend and I have always wanted to try one to see if they really do offer American hotdog. For $6 something for a basic hotdog, it is 2-3 times more expensive than the normal fish and chips shops, but I am willing to fork out more just to taste a real American hotdog. What I got was a thin looking hotdog in a bun with ketchup which does not look any different from the snags I had in the past. Tasting it confirms my suspicion that the hotdog used is some ordinary sausage you can easily get from Woolworths.

This place is such a big disappointment tricking gullible non-Americans with its American sign and menu but does not actually provide American food. You're better off going to Wendy's as they're cheaper (with the combo meals) or just support the weekly sausage sizzle that charities run.

The best chicken wings and fries in adelaide

If only it worked. I've never been to the USA but surely this staple is better than this? Disappointed.

WTF??. Jeez these guys need to stick to basketball. what's worse than a soggy hotdog with a cheap sausage? Wings that taste like sweet chilli sauce.
Had a door open looking into a lounge room?
Cocktails but no good American beers?
Need good wings head to the gilbert st hotel, best in town.

Went here for a quick dinner after baseball on my way for a swim at the beach. Was greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us, my wife had the garden dog, complete with tomato and cucumber. Amazing combination and boy did it work. I had the hot dog with cream cheese smoked frank and mustard pickles, wow what a knockout flavor. Ordered the fries to go with it they were very well seasoned but far too many for myself wife and 3 yo. All in all very tasty and Will definitely return. Thank you new York dreams.

Their offerings include 10 types of hot dogs, fries, nachos, southern fried chicken, chicken wings and nuggets. They even have a selection of American confectionery and soft drinks.

There's a huge American food craze in Adelaide at the moment which is certainly to our delight but one fine evening we discovered something that has been around since 2011. Down by the bay at Semaphore was a place called New York Dreams. Owned by Mr. Raheim "The Dream" Brown, a professional basketball player who was born in New York, this place introduced their American taste and style to Australia through hot dogs and wings. The shop is decked out with American merchandise, icons and posters. You can sit on the bar stools at the counter or outside at the cafe tables They have a huge range of American Hotdogs, juicy chicken wings with dipping sauces, chilli fries, nachos, cornbread, cheesy corn and cupcakes. Of course there's American soda like Dr. Pepper and A&W along with Reese's peanut butter cups and Hershey's Kisses for sweet treats. This was actually Mr. Foodie's birthday dinner (lucky me cos it didnt cost a bomb). We decided to some of everything so we got some hotdogs, wings
