Review The Winery Kitchen - Seymour

Christine Andrews
I can see why their Google ratings are so high. Service was friendly. The fireplace was on so it was nice and warm. The food was excellent. We were 4 people and we all ordered something completely different and everyone was happy. I had steak and it was cooked to perfection (I ordered it med-rear), it had good flavour, and was tender. The portion of the steak was perfect for me. The chutney/sauce was super delicious, it came with gravy, chat potatoes and cauli flower. My friends got pollo pizza, prosciutto wrapped chicken and a seafood pasta. The food was served quickly so for us driving through to our destination it was a nice healthy option for eating on a road trip.

What a pleasant surprise! We saw the reviews and decided to give The Winery Kitchen a try and so glad we did. The staff are so friendly and nice, the food is absolutely delicious and the fireplace keeps the restaurant nice and toasty on cold days. This little cafe is a must try. It’s so nice to take a break from a long road trip in such a lovely place.

Currently on course 4 of the 5 course chef's choice dégustation and I could not recommend more. The single most delicious dish I've eaten this year, at least. Fantastic service and a delicious, beautiful menu.

Go past this place alot, it's on the way in to town off the highway. We've noticed is always busy so tried it out. I read the menu and noticed they get their produce within 50km if possible. I ordered the lamb ragu gnocchi which was nice, clean and no herbs or spices to ruin it. My wife ordered the pollo woodfired pizza, it was amazing.... we were seated opposite the pizza oven and watched the magic unfold. You could tell everything is fresh or the best ingredients you can get, every bite was sensational. Would highly recommend ordering a pizza here, I should've 😪.

Great Italian restaurant connected to a winery. They have many gluten free pasta and pizza options. They even make their GF pizza based in house which tasted fantastic. Their toppings were very fresh and they used quality ingredients. I will be back next time I am in the area.

What a gorgeous restaurant near Seymour! We didn't have a booking on Friday night but they were happy to squeeze us in. The gluten free pizza was so good, not the usual floppy soggy mess or teeth breaking cardboard. Instead it was crispy and chewy, topped with high quality fresh ingredients. Love this place!

It was a sunny day and perfect for drive. So it was off to the winery kitchen.

This restaurant is in a working vineyard and it is like stepping back into an Italian village. Their is a large indoor restaurant seating 160 people or an outdoor area where we sat under vine leaves on a sunny day. It doesn’t get much better than that lol.

We ordered the antipasto platter first, which was a selection of cold meats and home made marinated vegetables w smoked mozzarella, gnocchi fritto, and house made bread. What an awesome start! Everything was just delicious and so fresh.

The polenta chips w rosemary, Parmesan salad and aioli were well cooked and tasty.

Around the table people ordered pizzas, steak sandwiches, saffron tagliolini w razor prawns, calamari, white wine, garlic and ground onions. And 26 day aged porterhouse steak, w roasted Tuscan potatoes, green beans, caramelised onions and red wine jus.

I ordered the gnocchi w lamb ragu which was parcels of soft potato, and tasty stewed lamb in a tomato sauce. Yummo!

This place is perfect for a day out!

We've eaten here a few times now and always impressed with the food! Can't fault the staff either. Well worth the drive up from northern regions of Melbourne

At first glance this looked like a mistake. A low slung round building covered in cobwebs, set on a rain-parched lawn next to a dusty driveway. Inside the cavernous space and hard surfaces suggested we'd hear every word ever said. But ignore all that. THE PIZZAS ARE SENSATIONAL! Seriously good. Well worth hopping off the highway even if you've only just hit the road. ***Eat their pizza you will never regret it***. And I was wrong about the noise. Oh and even the gluten intolerant get great pizza here: a double bonus.

The wooodfire pizza and seafood marina pasta was freshly made and tasted superb, just like the real authentic Italian cuisine. Restaurant had lovely decor and lots of free parking. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Seymour !!c

David Traeger wines available at a reasonable price. The antipasto platter is huge and more than enough for 2-3 people. Add some meatballs and you have a terrific meal.

Love this place! From the moment you walk in, the service to the quality of food, each visit has been memorable. Fresh local produce, flavour and attention to detail. I recommend the winery to kitchen to everyone that comes through Seymour!

I love to come here with my family. Great ambience and people, the food is amazing and it's always a lovely place to go for a change since it's just 1hr away from Melbourne cbd.

The food here is lovely. We have been here a number of times and always enjoy our food. They make a pretty good coffee too. The staff are also lovely and always stop for a chat!

Yesterday I had the best pork belly of my 31 years of existence (sorry mum). My wife and I were headed to Rutherglen and on our way dropped by this beautiful restaurant for dinner. Local produce, local beer and wine is a combination for success. The woodfire pizza range plentiful.

Very pleasant warm atmosphere. Food was delicious Worth stopping on our way back to Melbourne. Service was a tad slow, but the atmosphere made the wait acceptable.

If you have seen my pictures on Instagram, you would have known that recently I went out on a road trip with my friends to Mount Hotham. On the way out from the city to our destination, we stopped by an area called Seymour and we had lunch at The Winery Kitchen. The seven of us sat under a circular dome, certainly the centre of attraction. We checked out the menu before coming by and figured ordering pizzas would be an appropriate manner of all means.

Amazing! Worth the drive!!!. Everything we had here was amazing! Great menu, lots of gluten free options even with pasta which you don't find too often out of Melbourne
I had the pear bruschetta which surpassed expectations, was delish and the gf bread was good I thought it might have been a mixup! Glad I ordered it with the chili mussels also, there was just enough of them to satisfy my craving and not leave by rolling out the door
Tried a few of the calamari and couldn't stop pinching them, steak sanga looked good but I was that happy with my choices I didn't bother trying!
Really worth the drive to Seymour, lovely ambiance and gorgeous wooden structure bit in the middle
But laid back on service, but it was a Sunday and we went in a hurry
Shall rave, recommend and return!!!

Fantastic wood fired pizza. Fresh, light and thin, crisp bases. Service is hit and miss. Some are great, others you have to chase up and I've been overcharged, so watch that. Desserts are expensive and not very big. I had mud cake and it was THE WORST I've ever had! VERY dry and hard! The mousse on top and blueberry ice cream accompanying it were really nice. It was a shame about the cake. Also beware, their quoted opening hours on Fridays are incorrect. They say they're open right through the afternoon but they're NOT! VERY annoying when you sit around for half hour waiting after a worker there told me they opened at 5pm! They don't open until 5:30pm. The sign on their door says they are open right through. When I suggested to the waitress that they should put a note on the door saying that they close in the afternoon or at least list their correct opening hours, she didn't seem to give a shit, didn't apologise and told me there was nothing she could do! Not good service!

Extensive and interesting menu! Go for the pulled beef burger or open lamb sandwich for great red meat. Add a glass of the Pinot Noir and you have a great lunch!!

I had the kini arancini which were delicious and cooked perfectly, then the pizza's, the pizzas were awesome. As good, if not better than any we have had in Melbourne including 400 gradi, Aqua e Farina, Farm Vigano and Donnybrook cheese farm. Just delicuous

Been to the Winery Kitchen many times now and each time has been really really good. The people that are on here bagging it, either have no taste or eat McDonalds everyday. Not to detract from the Kitchen in saying this, but the food is AMAZING. Reasonably priced for what you receive. Always fresh, always sumptuous. Owners and staff cannot do enough for you and the outside seating under the vines is serene. Try "The Kitchen".... You will not be disappointed.

Not that good should have gone to the Royal Hotel

Pizza. I so wanted to love this new local. However... the pizza were a big disappointment. Thick dry crusts & no texture to the filling. The potato/rosemary/garlic topping was just boiled sliced potato on top of a small amount of mozzarella with too much garlic. There was no evidence that the potato had been anywhere near a hot pizza oven.So it was just stoge.
I would love to talk to the chef as I am sure they can make this place really good rather than just very average.

Absolutely deicious!. What a wonderful discovery this Italian restaurant is... The most amazing food and pizza... a must try if you're heading up Seymour way for a Sunday drive or to meet up with friends and family. Nothing like wholesome Italian food and wine to make an ordinary afternoon, extraordinary! Checkout the cellar door for some nice wines to take home with you... this place will not disappoint!
Be sure to book!!!

Some Style in Seymour - Finally. I try and eat here as much as I can. Their food is fantastic and very friendly staff and atmosphere. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air that Seymour needed and has been waiting for. Their pasta dishes are something to die for and the pizza's are awesome. A true Italian Menu - Well Done Guys
See you Soon :-)

Simple menu, but unusually some standard Italian dishes missing. Easily the pick of places to eat in Seymour

Great local eatery. It is exciting to have one of Seymou's loveliest dining locations open again. The atmosphere was busy, the food was great and the service was attentive. Considering the venue has not been open long, they are doing a fantastic job. We'll be back!

Great food and fantastic service. First time at the winery kitchen with a family birthday celebration. Food was great with a range of tasty pizzas, service was also helpful and friendly. Will be back next time we are in the area.

Where have you been all my life?. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. The best pizza I have ever tasted. The Italian menu looks spectacular too. We have eaten there twice in the 1St week. The staff and management are first class. Seymour has been missing this class of restaurant for too long.

Like any good, Australian country town, Seymour has its fair share of impressive pubs, which serve up large portions of comfort food like parmas and fish and chips – fuel to chow down on whilst playing the pokies and enjoying a pint. But it seems that Melbourne’s diversified and impressive food scene is beginning to spread across the state. Quality restaurants are beginning to open outside of the city, good enough to get people taking day trips to try them out.
