Review Candelori's - Smithfield

Elaine Ramos
Best ravioli I have ever had. I think their prices were totally worth it given the wonderful food and impeccable service. The sauces were delicious and even the fries and bread and butter were astonishingly good. Will definitely come back.

Great service. Perfectly cooked wagyu striploin and t-bone. Lobster linguine was nice. Texture and flavour of zucchini flowers was also nice (personally felt it could have been seasoned a little more, same with the ravioli). Pork croquettes were delicious. Oysters were so so. Very attentive staff.

Amazing!! Best Italian restaurant. Food is amazing, dessert is amazing. Service is amazing, as they greet you at the door and open the door when you leave. Honestly nothing can compare. Definitely have visited a few times, can't get enough. Highly recommend.

Candelori's is the place for fine dining in the Fairfield local shire. The service is first class and the food (modern Australian/Italian) is excellent. A carefully chosen wine list is available. All in all this is the spot for a special occasion or small function for family and friends.

Classy & inviting restaurant hidden just off the Cumberland highway. Amazing customer service from the moment you walk in, to the moment you walk out. Pizza was decent, pasta was good, steak was alright, a little bit heavy on the garlic butter side, scampi was nice & tasty, but a smaller portion then expected. Coffee was nice, a touch on the bitter side, so maybe good to have an extra sugar. Cocktails were interesting & delicious. Bruschetta was one of the best I’d had, the char on the bread paired amazing with the ingredients. Not a fan of the potato mash, didn’t taste very good. Tiramisu was decent, the sponge was a little heavy for my liking, but the cream & honeycomb were beautiful, added the perfect & sweet crunch, served with milk. The staff were so lovely to accommodate for my mothers birthday by serving a complimentary cake to her at the end of our dinner, which was crunchy & lovely, bursting with flavour. The ambiance was so beautiful, will definitely return for a romantic evening in the future.

Unfortunately a little miscommunication during pick up which caused a bit of delay resulting in slightttt sogginess but no big deal! Still very professional service from lovely staff and pizzas still tasted good. Will be dining in in the future to eat everything fresh!

We were here for my birthday celebration. The food and the service is phenomenal! Portion is massive as well. Tiramisu is a bomb! Can't wait to have another celebration here again 😍😍

Candeloris constantly delivers every time we visit! My husband and I went on our first date here 5 years ago. Since then, we've had many birthdays and anniversaries at Candeloris. The food is consistently delicious and incomparable to other restaurants. No matter what we've tried on the menu, we have always left with a full and happy tummy! Love this place and we will keep coming back again and again!

Service was awesome! We over ate as we wanted to try a bit of this and a bit of that! We where forced to skip dessert as our tummies where full! If you want an elegant place out this way I totally recommend it. Enjoy

Nothing short of amazing! Everytime we go the food is amazing and the service is like no other. Omg the cheese platter is don infront of you, where the cheese is from and how long its aged bu the waiter Antonio was such a joker he made us laugh the whole time. The cheeses were amazing the truffle oil cheese omg totally recommend to try it. Thanks again Candelori's for making my birthday that much more tasty

My husband and I drove close to an hour to dine here for our Anniversary and we loved it. From the moment we stepped in we were warmly greeted. The food was excellent and the desert to die for. I had the creme brûlée which was devine. We were even spoilt with complimentary champagne to help us celebrate I would highly recommend spoiling yourself and going to this outstanding restaurant.

After having had our Christmas party in 2015 things have certainly changed and not for the better. Once it was justified to pay city prices in Smithfield if you were eating at Candelori’s but after last night I would say this is no longer the case. Sloppy service, inattentive waiters, lots of mistakes with drink orders, food coming out at different times, having 4 empty water bottles on our table and having to wait a long time to get a waiters attention to order more I would have to say they need to pick up their game as you couldn’t even say the food was amazing - I would say more like average. Entrees had side sauces and the sauce was the same for every dish, carpretto had not been stewed long enough and still a little tough, the meatballs were like little rocks, overall disappointing as we have eaten at Candelori’s many times and definitely noticed a negative change.

Oh my what can I say! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment at candeloris, from when we walked in the doors to when we left the staff were absolutely amazing. So intentive, always smiling and very friendly. Service was on point! The food was delicious, we arrived starving and left overly full from the amazing food. Dessert was fantastic. Thank you for making our date night a great night! Thanks K.Zeaiter

Fantastic gem in the middle of Smithfield. Great service, delicious food and a fantastic wine list. We were thankful the staff could move us to a better suited table and enjoyed the evening thoroughly. We will definitely be back - keep up the fantastic work.

If I could give zero stars I would. We waited 1.5 hours for our mains only to be given the smallest portion of risotto that wouldn't even fill up a child.. hideous When we asked about our mains the waiter said 'oh well sorry the kitchen is getting pretty smashed tonight' LOL seriously? The restaurant was half empty... work your shit out!
Wendy Scriven
The food was lovely and fresh As soon as you walk through the door you got lovely smells and service The only thing I would suggest to have to have the music smoother

Recently I had to organise a dinner for the management team at my workplace. I booked Candelori's knowing they would deliver great food and service. Of course the next day at work all the managers were full of compliments about the entire night ..... "food, service and atmosphere all exceptional" was the feedback I got. Thank you Gina and all the staff at Candelori's for making it a successful night

Beautiful place, amazing staff and can not fault them in any way.

My husband and I dined here last Friday night. Unbelievable food and service. The waitress was so lovely and recommended our food and wine. The food is the ultimate in Italian Fine Food cuisine. The restaurant is beautifully presented. No expense spared. The staff are truly passionate about the service they provide. Looking forward to dining again soon. Highly recommended.

Omg the food was to die for. The service was fantastic. First time there so it took me a while to choose what I wanted as there was not one thing on the menu that I didn't want to try. Will definitely be back.

Had a great night out at Candelorie's celebrating a birthday! The food was amazing and tasty and the staff very friendly and eager to please. This was my first dining experience there and will be going back
Krystle
Amazing quality of food, generous and fresh. Really worth the drive. The ravioli blew me away! Need to go back asap to try their pizza.
Sumeja
Exceptional! From the service to the food to the ambience to the atmosphere. We had a margarita pizza and I had to chicken fettuccine pasta that I swapped for penne because I am hopeless at eating fettuccine in public! Apart from all that, one thing that really stood out for me at this place was particularly the service. I dropped my napkin on the ground and before I had even bent down to pick it up a waiter was already at my hands. Seriously great place!

Candeloris is definitely one of the finer Italian spots within the south-western Sydney area. Overall I was impressed by the service provided and the food was delightful however it is definitely on the pricier side and they do set their own tips which is added onto the bill. Also, I believe fine dining places shouldn't have white butchers paper lying on the table, it downgraded the 'fine dining' aspect of it. The moscato ordered was beautiful and one of my favourite dishes of the night would be the beef carpaccio.

Was so excited to return to this place, we had not been for a few years. Firstly the restaurant took a $100 pre payment for a booking of 10 people, (non refundable if due to unforeseen circumstances we were not able to attend). Not impressed but could deal with it. We ordered the Bruschetta Pizza which was covered in large chunks of raw garlic, a terrible overpowering taste. The calamari were soggy with a very strange flavour which was unpleasant. Eggplant parmigiana lacked salt however with the addition of salt it could have been a nice dish. My Porchetta was as dry as can be, served with a tiny amount of mash which was not nearly enough to be able to finish off the dry meat. The Pappardelle was the dish of the night for us, tasty tender meat with perfectly cooked pasta. Our waiter was lovely and helpful. The surprise at the end of the night was the addition of $48.00 to our bill marked as “SERVICE”. When questioned we were told that they nominate they’re own compulsory tip for groups of 8 or more which is clearly stated on their website and confirmation email. The issue is that we were not sent a confirmation email nor did we go searching on your website for hidden T’s and C’s. You happily took the booking and the deposit but failed to disclose your own tipping system. It needs to be said that in Australia tipping is not compulsory, in this country and in the service industry it is my understanding that you earn your tip based on your performance and not on what you think you deserve. We would have happily have left a tip and had calculated this into our payment until you explained your “SERVICE” charge. Shame on you for already having overpriced below average food and thinking you have the right to pay yourself extra. We will not recommend you and we will not return.

Nice service and they’re good at looking after for customers even for small table. The food was amazing and it was not really pricy. Definitely will go back and enjoy. Suggest to dress up a little bit lol.

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and apart from the interior changing to a much more up market modern style the high quality food and great service has remained pretty much the same. <br/><br/>Great menu it is the only place I have tried goat which I really enjoyed they have a daily specials board that I often go to. <br/>The best thing I could say about Candelori’s is that I used to work close by and it was my go to restaurant to take my customers never once did I hear a negative remark it was always like “Wow never thought Smithfield had a restaurant like this” <br/>Still the best place to go in Smithfield by a considerable margin.

Four of us had dinner at candelori’s last night. Nice selection of Italian cuisine. Service is very good. Food is better than average. It was a good experience. The service felt a bit pushy and rushed.

Beautiful food and atmosphere. Very attentive service. Love this place and will be sure to come back. Stylish interior, great for special occasions or fancy catch ups.<br/>

Came here once for a friends birthday. They have a decent range of food to choose from on their menu. It has a quite elegant interior for its location. The quality is quite good. However, prices are on the pricier side. Service is alright. They have a really good selection of seating.

Meat was tender<br/><br/>Candelori's is an Italian restaurant serving Modern Italian dishes including wood-fired pizza. It is located on The Horsley Drive, Smithfield. There is ample seating inside. Decor is modern.<br/><br/>My husband surprised me by taking us here for dinner. This restaurant was never brought up in conversation but glad we went as our main meals were nice. I was not however, impressed with the customer service. A male ?manager/in-charge with a ponytail was not friendly, smile or seem interested. He wasn't even paying full attention to us as he kept looking around when we tried to order our drinks. We ordered to drink a Fam and Co-co mocktail. We couldn't even ask about the menu as he walked off.<br/><br/>A waitress took our order and she too wasn't very friendly either. Barely cracked a smile. We ordered Bufala Mozzarella E Pesto Pizzetta, 7 Hour Braised Junee Lamb, Wagyu Cheek with Muscatels and a side of shoe string fries. We also ordered the House Bread but that never came out. I was a little disappointed as I like freshly made warm bread.<br/><br/>The Fam had mango puree, pineapple juice and passionfruit. I didn't like it as it was very sour. The Co-co had coconut, lychee puree and jasmine tea. This was a nice refreshing drink. It wasn't very sweet.<br/><br/>The Bufala Mozzarella E Pesto Pizzetta was nice. It was soft, crispy on the edges and wasn't salty. But you have to eat it soon after it arrives as it goes hard otherwise.<br/><br/>The lamb was nicely presented and was tender. It had nice balanced flavours. It was served with pickled cauliflower florets and salmoriglio. I did not like the cauliflower as it wasn't pickled nicely as because it was charred, it was chewy, firm, burnt and hard to eat. It was left off the plate.<br/><br/>The Wagyu Cheek was fall apart soft and enjoyable to eat. Nice balanced flavours. I was not a fan of the purple cabbage but the muscatels (grapes) were a nice burst of sweetness.<br/><br/>The fries were cooked just right. The truffle aioli was smooth and a nice addition to the fries.<br/><br/>Verdict: The lamb and wagyu cheek are worth trying. Customer service needs improvement.

Last night we dined in at Candelori’s catching up with old friends and was surprised to see such a nice establishment this far out, I opted for the crab and prawn ravioli while my wife Carmen went for the smoked chicken and pesto fettuccine as she is fond of chicken, the food and ambiance was delightful however did NOT appreciate paying for the privilege for drinking tap water, we had three bottles of tap water between the four of us and was charged $27 for it. The owners must have been sitting around one night over a few drinks joking around thinking of what ridiculous pranks they could play on their customers and must have decided to try it out one day and have been getting away with it since, unless Sydney water is sending this restaurant a six figure water bill I find it particularly rude that the proprietors think they have the right to charge $9 a bottle for something that is free everywhere else.

To begin, I’d just like to start by writing about how beautiful the restaurant is on the inside. The way it’s set out, the decor & the overall atmosphere of the restaurant really makes you feel you are dining in a place like darling harbour as opposed to Smithfield. <br/><br/>I have visited Candelori’s on two occasions. On both occasions the customer service was exceptional. The staff greet you with friendly faces and attitudes as well as constantly check on you throughout your meal to see if you need anything. <br/><br/>My friend and I started our night off with the Bruschetta. In my opinion it very well put together. The bread was toasted and still warm and the flavour of the garlic and basil really made it shine. <br/><br/>For main, I had eye fillet cooked medium. It was definitely cooked to perfect with the slight pink in the middle and was so soft I could almost cut it with my spoon. I do feel however that the red wine jus could of been made slightly more predominant in the meal. <br/><br/>Lastly for dessert we finished with ‘Hazelnut Chocolate Crema’. It was a great way to finish a three course meal. The mousse was amazing as well as the gelato it came with. I was not disappointed in my choices at all. <br/><br/>Overall I found Candelori’s to be an enjoyable experience. Although it may not be everybody’s cup of tea due to their prices I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale night out. <br/><br/>(The two last photos are from my first visit. Prosciutto pizza & crispy pork belly.)
Picturesque Food
Dining at Candelori’s on Valentine’s Day began with friendly service. Tonight there was a set menu priced at $95/pp. <br/>We ordered the bruschetta & fig and honey comb for entree. The bruschetta was okay at best. Very different from traditional bruschetta. I’m not a fan of figs, so definitely was a downer. <br/>For the mains we ordered Oysters and Black king fish. Can’t really go wrong with oysters, but they were on the small side. The black king fish was very bland in taste. <br/>For the Secondi we ordered the wagyu beef cheek and the woodroasted baby chicken. <br/>The beef was very very soft which was amazing, however, it tasted like liver. I’m not a big fan of liver, so again I did not enjoy it at all. The chicken was very dry and I feel like I could have eaten a better tasting chicken from Woolworths. <br/>For dessert we ordered the dark chocolate brûlée and the tre sorbetti. Sad to say, but the sorbetti was lacking in presentation and taste. The only positive of the sorbetti was the actual passion fruit inside. Again, as I’m not a fan of dark chocolate the brûlée was not enjoyable. <br/>Overall, I’m disappointed with the food served today. Partially due to the food served not matching what I enjoy, but the service was great!

Outstanding as always <br/>Every time I go there the service and the food is incredible <br/>Can’t go there enough I need to go more every year <br/>There is so much great meals

Service was outstanding. Food was delicious and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Great option for finer dining in our area. Would definitely recommend!

Candeloris have nicely renovated their restaurant, service was excellent, staff forgot to give us the menus and waited for ~15mins, as we finally got someone, the staff member apologised sincerely and offered us a complimentary glass of white win each which was lovely of them.<br/>Started off with Salisccie e cime de rapa wood fire pizza was very tasty, probably one of the best wood fired pizzas, it was the perfect cheese on this pizza, however, a little bit too much olive oil but still tasty. It was the winner out of all other dishes.<br/>Ordered the spaghetti carbonara, quite bland and dry, but we still polished it off, will probably recommend the risotto next time.<br/>Last dish was the salt crusted rib eye $52 cooked medium with no sides but a chilli and their green sauce, was it worth $52? Absolutely not. You can definitely taste the salt crust which was pleasant but the actual rib eye itself tasted like a rib eye you would buy from the groceries... quite disappointing.<br/>We also ordered an Italian beer which was very strong and tasty, and we also ordered a moscato which was perfect.<br/>The complimentary chilli and Parmesan went very well with every dish, very different from other restaurant.<br/>Would return on special occasions.<br/>Take your lover, friends or family here for divine dining.

I went and found that the food was below average. It was also a bit costly. Maybe they have new people now but i was not inpressed and will not go back.

This place is yet to let me down. The food is fantastic and ambiance is great. The serving sizes are good and the food tastes fresh however It is over priced compared to other Italian restaurants. Also beware of the up sell! It really feels like your in Europe where everyone is trying to fleece you that extra dollar. <br/><br/>Other than over priced food and staff eager to shake you down for every last dollar highly recommended.

Step inside and you will forget that you are in a restaurant in Smithfield opposite Frango's. I really enjoyed the food here but I have to agree with a lot of reviewers. It's definitely not worth the price tag. The pizza was delicious when it came out hot hot hot but I made the mistake of eating the last slice (which was sadly sitting on the plate a little too long, it was soggy and sloppy). <br/>Service was sophisticated but I was left the feeling that they were trying to upsell everything, I felt bad for saying no!

Have dined at Candeloris now several times and I must say, excellence and consistency is there every time. Delicious food, great service and yummy desserts. This is definitely a restaurant to put on your list to try!

Service was great. Restaurant design was really pretty. Atmosphere was nice. Food was good, but there were some hits and misses. Don't recommend the Nutella Dome though, it's tasty on the eyes but not on the tastebuds. I recommend the Truffle Fettuccine if it's still there on the specials menu, so mouth watering.
Suburb Review
Been here a couple of times now.<br/>Food is mediocre not worth the price tag.<br/>Staff are friendly but you get the sense they have to upsell everything from alcohol to side dishes. Unfortunately there isn't many 'better' italian restaurants in the area.

You would never think that this hidden gem is in Smithfield. When you step in it's almost like you're in a fine dining restaurant. The restaurant had a great feel and friendly staff. <br/><br/>Every meal we ordered was delicious and came out quick. Can't wait to go back and try other things on their menu.

Dinner great, atmosphere nice...$120 charge for table water tad excessive!!! Staff kept replacing half empty bottles of water without asking, bill for water alone came to $120. apparently agreeing to table water exclusively means water you pay for, not tap, and although they initially asked 1 out of 22 people if we would like water for the table, tap was not offered, and yes while we drank it, as it was replenish with a vigor usually set aside for Olympian athletes perhaps they should have asked if we wanted a refill instead of constantly replenishing half empty bottles!!! For crying out loud on departure we had 3 full bottles still on the table!! In my opinion if you are going to charge $9 a bottle for water perhaps you should ask before hydrating the table to death!!! If you wouldn't presume to bring new bottles of wine or soft drink, don't do it for the water if it's going to be charged!! Owners response...you drank it, why would you think it was for free??? ... Um because your well trained staff kept replacing half drunk bottles for new ones!!!! Because we didn't ask for them... Um because if your not going to systematically replenish a jug of coke or a bottle of wine maybe you shouldn't do it for overpriced water!!! Diners beware!!! Stick to scotch and coke, it will cost you less, and thankfully they don't charge extra for the rocks!!!!

We had such a great dinner here a few nights ago. The quality was excellent and there was an ample selection for the kids. Other diners kept their kids well behaved which was a pleasant surprise.<br/><br/>Food was tasty and reasonably priced. We would definitely visit again.
Christine Cung
Order the ravioli with lobster, prawn and crab!! It has been my favourite dish for almost 5 years! I've eaten all over the world, but this is still by far the most delicious Italian dish ever!
Sydneyfoodaddict
Exceptional food and service. Honestly the food is so flavorful from the entree to the main meal it did not disappoint. I was extremely impressed and definitely be back!
Kristina
Tucked away in the middle of Frango's chicken & a kebab shop in the heart of western Sydney lyes a sophisticated fine dining experience. On all 3 occasions that Ive been to this restaurant, each time i was left full of quality food & drinks, and a smile on my face. I would recommend the stuffed zucchini flowers- they are my favourite!! Definitely would return, even on a busy night or to host a function.
Hungry Vibes Only
TLDR: food wasn't as amazing as we expected but the desserts were on fleek.<br/><br/>So we decided to pig out and this was what we ordered on the night: <br/><br/>Entrees:<br/>Oysters <br/>Pan roasted scallops<br/><br/>Mains:<br/>Salt crusted rib eye<br/>Suckling pork cheek<br/>Fettuccine con polo affumicato<br/>Spaghettini alla carbonara<br/><br/>Dessert:<br/>San Valentino (the reason why I'm giving Candelori's a good rating)<br/>Nutella Dome<br/>Tiramisu<br/>Ferrero Rocher<br/><br/>Atmosphere is great here. The lively venue really gave me a feeling of cosiness despite how sophisticated the decor and setting was.<br/><br/>Service was satisfactory. The only problem we encountered was a 30-35 minute wait between our entrees and mains. It was difficult to flag down waitstaff as they were so busy but nonetheless they were always courteous and lovely to deal with.<br/><br/>The oysters were fresh and nicely presented. I felt the vinaigrette was too diluted but this may be a personal preference thing. The scallops were a bit of a let down and the flavours on the plate didn't really complement the scallops. <br/><br/>My favourite out of the mains was the suckling pork cheek. The risotto and prosciutto on the plate was a bit unnecessary in my opinion--maybe more asparagus instead of so many flavours on the plate. The prosciutto was too salty for my liking and I couldn't finish it. The rib eye was cooked rare rather than the medium rare we requested but still enjoyable. I felt it could've been seasoned a bit more.<br/><br/>The highlight of my night, apart from the oysters (because yum, oysters), was the San Valentino dessert. The white chocolate mousse was coated in a beautiful, smooth and shiny raspberry jelly and the sorbet on the side pulled all the textures on the plate together. The tiramisu was also lovely. The Nutella dome was too dense.

Stepping into Candeloris feels as though you've completely left Smithfield and Western Sydney. The atmosphere of this restaurant is beautiful. I usually visit for celebratory dinners, which have all consistently been satisfying. The service is terrific, never had to wait too long for food, even when the restaurant has been incredibly busy. <br/>Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to dine something nice in south west Sydney.
Andrea
Candelori’s is a well hidden Italian gem in the heart of the industrial area of Smithfield. The restaurant has been on my to-go list for quite a few years now, since I accidentally noticed its back entrance signage when pulling up in the Smithfield carpark. You don’t usually discover venues who would be close to being classified with fine dining in South Western Sydney. And definitely not wedged between Tommy’s Kebabs on one side and Frango’s chicken just across the road. But since Candelori’s renovations in 2014, this place is definitely worth a visit for two reasons – great Italian food matched with a stunning interior.
Jacq
One of my favourite restaurants in the south west. Fantastic service with a great selection of wines. The eye fillet was cooked to medium rare perfection and the tagliatelle with wagyu braesola was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to all lovers of pasta as Candelori's is made in house!
Ebonyandlace
Has become a lot more upmarket since they renovated and I love the new layout. My favourite ever is the fettuccine boscaiola which used to be on their old menu but they have a fancied up version (that I don't like so much). The simpler is much more amazing and doesn't need the extra embellishments. Linguine scampi is also a must try. Haven't had a bad meal here, ever.
John Isaac
Don't let the location fool you. This place attracts people from all over Sydney. It's always been impressive and consistent with top class service. The pasta dishes won't disappoint.
Anna & Phillip | Snap.Eat.Share
After being seated and settled with a glass of red each, we were introduced to Christian Candelori who was the person who reached out to Jen. Since we we weren't too fussed with the menu, we let Christian make the decision about what dishes we would sample. He informed us that there would be a mix of some old favourites along with a few new additions from their Spring menu.

Candeloris. An institution since I think about mid nineties. I remember working up in Wetherill park and any work function was held at candeloris because it was always the best. And it was, and still is.<br/>It's fine dining at its best and I think if your not familiar with it, it's surprising to see such an amazing and quality restaurant in Smithfield. Don't let the suburb fool you. I will say the best Italian food in Sydney, possibly Australia. But the main thing I'll say - is suppose I've dined here 100 times in 20 years it is ALWAYS consistent. Love the reliability of knowing what you'll get.
Sweetandyummie
This is no joke - best Italian food in Sydney. Hands down. I cannot fault this place. Candeloris has been in the west for over 30 years and it's just keeps getting stronger and stronger. The restaurant is amazing and the atmosphere is posh yet very homely. Christian Candelori the bossman is very kind and runs a tight ship from the kitchen to the floor. Customer service is top notch here. The menu is diverse with something for everyone and the quality of this traditional food is freaking high. I highly recommend all the desserts! Get one of each and you will feel like a million bucks.
Christina Sourial
The food was nice yet not exceptional. The service was pretty poor. They were just not attentive enough and everything seemed a bit unorganised.
MKC Inc.
This place is a hidden gem in the western suburbs. Tucked away beneath the kebab shops and local stores, you walk into Candelori's and you're instantly whisked away to a white table cloth inner city restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delectable. We ordered the lamb shank, chicken avocado, beef wagyu, zucchini flowers, bruschetta and beetroot and goats cheese bruschetta. All meals were amazing and the wine list was abundant. Will definitely recommend for great Italian. Only downfall is that it could get costly, however this place is all round quality.
FoodsterAu
I think I have to agree with most people have to say about this place. Along a dingy looking strip of shops in smithfield sits Candelori. from the outside you probably won't expect much but when you walk in you're transported away to some fancy schmancy fine dining place. Such an odd place for the west. The service was friendly that night and can not really complain. I felt pressured into getting the bottled water which was quite ridiculously priced. The restaurant was well decorated and was large enough to cater for large groups comfortably. Personally for the price I paid and the food I got... I felt I overpaid a bit... but that's no insult to the food... it was good but just wasn't mindblowing. Most mains start from mid twenties...Parking is pretty to find as there is ample street parking.
Wendy Le
It is a very fancy place for western Sydney. Great service. But water cost 9 bucks a bottle. Had 3 bottles cause they would efficiently get us a new one quickly signaled if we wanted a new one whenever it finished. Didn't know that until the end, saw the bill and paid 27 bucks for water. But other than that lovely place lovely service
FMBGD
Unexpectedly exceeded my expectations. I felt like i stepped into a fine dining restaurant. The restaurant was well decorated and the food was even better.<br/><br/>They did offer complimentary bread but we did have to ask for it -_-<br/><br/>We ordered the fettuccine, pork, chicken with avocado, spaghetti with bacon and mozzarella pizza and all the dishes were fantastic.<br/><br/>The fettuccine was creamy and all the flavours were on point. It was also a generous serving. The spaghetti with bacon was delicious however the portion was quite small. The mozzarella pizza tasted authentic too.<br/><br/>Reasonably priced. Will definitely recommend!
Noodlies
An up-market restaurant that’s only 10 minutes from Noodlies, Sydney food blog. Now that’s worth a look. The Fairfield local government area is probably more known for its south-east Asian community in Cabramatta, the middle eastern community in Fairfield and Smithfield as well as the Spanish speaking community in Fairfield. But let’s not forget the area was home to a large number of post-war Italian migrants; think the Marconi club in Bossley Park, Brescia furniture in Cabramatta, Frank’s in Fairfield and others.
Charn Tangson
There's not a lot of choice this far out west for good Italian food so it's great to see the pizza and pasta dishes out at Candeloris are quite reliable. The service can be a little spotty on busy nights but otherwise it's a great venue.
Ajoos
The original and best.<br/><br/>Candelori's takes the cake for best Italian eatery out west, hands down. A stylish interior complimented by friendly service sets the tone nicely.<br/><br/>Food is well made, but portions could be a little bigger. Thats being said though, one must leave room for dessert. <br/><br/>The place to be in Smithfield.
Maya Simonovic
Went there last night for dinner. There was 7 of us. The place looks amazing. Service was great. But the food was a big let down. I ordered a chicken dish it honestly came out with two little chicken rolls and 3 asparagus. Plate looked amazing but it was not filling at all. Very pricey for basically a pretty plate. Will not be coming here again that's for sure
Krizt_ann
Genuinely my favourite restaurant of all time. I love Candeloris. The pizza, pasta, chicken, desserts, drinks, staff, venue, parking. None of it disappoints. It's a regular of ours and I tell EVERYONE about it.
KAYEATS
Great Food, Excellent Service. My partner and I decided to give this place a try since we always drive past and was craving Italian on the weekend. The restaurant definitely exceeded our expectations. The big doors made a great entrance into the restaurant and the interior was classy with a big open kitchen creating a great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and attentive while taking our order and clearing out table. For entree we ordered natural oysters (which came with a great sauce on the side) and Pot Braised Polpette (meatballs which tasted delicious). For mains we ordered Diavola wood fire pizza which was a salami pizza and linguine con zucchini e gamberi to share. Both Pasta and Pizza was delicious, great prices and decent portions. i can strongly say this is one of the best italian restaurants i have been to and certainly would come back again.

Rocking up on an empty stomach, we pounced onto the menu and ordered straight away. For entree, we ordered a plate of perfectly pan-fried mixed olives with rosemary, dry chilli tossed through extra virgin olive oil and orange zest. The fig, prosciutto and rocket bruschetta followed and was drizzled with reduced balsamic and virgin olive oil on wood fired ciabatta bread which has now become our all time favourite bruschetta EVER. The fig and prosciutto came together on the tongue befittingly. A truly exeptional fusion.

There are endless delicious options available at Candelori’s, from an array of seafood, pastas and pizzas, through to more hard to come by dishes consisting of quail, goat and even lambs brains! Not feeling that adventurous, and with my boyfriend being an annoyingly fussy eater (sorry Ethan, but it’s true) we decided to share our dishes – again, very rare for me. Our first course was the go-to tomato and basil bruschetta. This could not be faulted, particularly when paired with a glass of Sav Blanc from the huge wi

The recently refurbished Candelori’s restaurant seems out of place in the middle of Smithfield. When we first entered, we were pleasantly surprised and to be honest were not expecting to see a multi-million dollar refurbished family run and owned restaurant stretching back as far as the eye can see (a very long restaurant!). The interior design is by DS17, the same people responsible for the fit out of Alpha in Castlereagh Street. Sensationally modern, vibrant and sleek, a 17 metre marble-clad open kitchen takes up one side of the restaurant whilst a sea of tables fill the length of the restarurant. In addition to their extensive renovation, Candeloris has undertaken a massive revitalisation of their menu and we are here to try their new dessert menu. Salsiccie e funghi – Fior di latte, taleggio, house made pork sausage, porchini & chiodini mushrooms, basil, truffle oil We started off the meal with an array of sensational pizzas. First off the block was the Salsiccie e funghi. Mind-blowingly good, the mozzarella is creamy and stringy with a lovely smokey flavour. I was also really impressed with the generous helping of house made pork sausage. Lazio – Tomato, fresh zucchini flowers, artichokes, eggplant, capsicums, buffalo mozzarella A really nice veggie option, the ingredients are perfectly seasoned. While some are oven roasted and others fresh, they all work really well together to make this a really tasty slice. Teramano – Bufala mozzarella, thinly sliced mushrooms, prosciutto, truffle oil Probably my favourite pizza of the night. The prosciutto was sliced paper thin and draped over the mozzarella and mushroom base. The splash of truffle oil brought out the meat and mushrooms flavours and made this pizza just that little bit fancy. Margherita – Tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil and olive oil The Margherita. House In Tillford
The Horsely Drive is lined with the classic Western Suburb main street offerings: kebab joints, Chinese restaurants, charcoal chicken shops. Nestled among these is one restaurant that is not like the others, once you step through the large (and slightly intimidating) door it feels like you've stepped into a fine dining restaurant in the CBD. Beautiful pendant lights, crisp white table cloths and perfectly set tables. Welcome to Candelori's. But it's not all about how the restaurant looks, of course. I was keen to try the food, and see if it was like the Italian I had in Italy. To start us off, the waiter brings us olive oil and balsamic vinegar with some fresh bread, just like in Italy- they are off to a good start! Between the four of us we order a pizza: the teramano, a pasta dish: tagliatelle porcini with pork sausage and a risotto: truffled mushroom risotto. Teramano Pizza The food arrives and they serve it with a dish of Parmesan and a dish of hot chillies in oil (just like in Ita

We have just been to Italy and back. Hah – we wish! We attended the Candelori’s Restaurant & Bar launch party! The family owned and operated restaurant has gained a reputation for excellent Italian food and wine! Guess what? Candelori’s opened up in Smithfield (for all us foodies from the western suburbs!). The place is beautiful, warm and inviting with the wall high windows and marble interior. Felt slightly royal for a second with the red carpet. Thank you Wasamedia for the invitation!! The venue was at full capacity which meant shared seating. We normally try to avoid shared seating but in this case we are glad we were forced out of our comfort join because it made the night even more enjoyable (amazing foodies!).  WOW! Even the chef has an amazing view. NIBBLIES The olives and olive oil courtesy of Finnis Estate were more than your average supermarket variety, for once I actually enjoyed eating olives! Finnis Estate imports their olive trees all the way from Italy and grows them SA

This modern Italian restaurant brings an elegant yet simple and unpretentious dining experience to the unsuspecting outer Sydney suburb of Smithfield. The journey out to Candelori's can seem long for some, but it is worth the drive as you will be rewarded with some amazing Italian cuisine (and plenty of parking!). Classy unpretentious dining area The restaurant has recently had a facelift and the remodeled interior displays a modern elegance without the pretentiousness. There are plenty of tables and seating arrangements to suit most group sizes and (heck they even managed to fit in a group of bloggers and our bloody cameras). On a serious note though the interior is stunning - modern, clean and uncluttered is the best way to describe it. Candelori's does some awesome woodfired pizzas with some of the most delicious thin and easy to digest pizza basses I have ever had in Sydney. There is a huge range of pizza to choose from and the toppings and quality of all the pizzas we tried were outstanding and more importantly really delicious. If you come to Candelori's with a group and want something to share then don't go past the pizza as there is some really amazing wood-firing going on in the Candelori's pizza kitchen! Margherita, simple yet always a winner one of the favourites of the night Teramano topped with mushroom and prosciutto. The prosciutto was amazing!

The prices are a bit hefty for Smithfield/Western suburbs, but it is definitely one of the better Italian restaurants. The restaurant was fully booked on a Saturday evening, with large families and friends gathering over hearty food and bottles of red poured all around. The staff were super friendly, checking up on us and filling our table water now and then. A real family owned restaurant with a whole lot of love around.

Candelori's is a posh Italian restaurant in Fairfield. It took me by surprise and the 72% like rate on Urbanspoon is on the mark. With a very reasonable large space; spanned with long tables of big groups lined with white tablecloth. I'm not one to be too adventurous but my company was and cherished and enjoyed the lamb's brain  at $21 (above). The lamb's brain was crumbed, pan-finished with lemon butter, parsley and fried sage.  I was more interested in the Zuchhini flowers that were stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach at $24. They were perfectly cooked with a bit of crunch and lemon. There were 4 pieces so that's $6 per zuchhini flower. To share, I also ordered the woodfired capsicum (above) medley bruschetta on woodfired ciabatta bread at $12. The bread was beautiful and all the trimmings were tasty. For Mains, I ordered the linguine marinara (above) which was the long thin pasta pan tossed with pomodoro, mussels, baby calamari, tiger prawns & vongole at $27.  It was a solid dish. The housemade gnocchi al pomodoro with goat’s cheese at $26 was consistent with what you would expect from a gnocchi.

Candelori’s   actually remodelled their entire restaurant and I have to say, coming from someone who once aspired to be an interior decorator, the wooden floors were polished, reflected in the silver decor and it was lovely together :) As I made my way to the giant blogger table organised by the fabulous George and Laura from Wasamedia , I chanced upon very awesome seating. Next to Christie & Matt from  Snapshots of Food  and Olivia & Alex from Mademoiselle Mange A Sydney , it was brilliant! Needless to say, after going to into sugar comas together, we really did bond :D And I totally did not fifth wheel ;) While we waited and chatted for other bloggers to arrive, the atmosphere was very relaxed! Servers going around and filling our water (sparkling or still), politely asking if we wanted white or red, while I lamented over my decision to drive!

To jazz up this Italian restaurant, renovations were carried out over the Christmas period and the doors were reopened just before Candelori’s 15th anniversary. The new-look venue includes marble bench tops, an open kitchen and woodfired oven and areas that can be sectioned off for group bookings and functions.
Fight The Craving
..I went to Candelori’s a few weeks back so why don’t you kick back, relax and take a read of this awesome menu launch...we were greeted with an awesome selection of Candelori’s delicious woodfired pizza from a colourful vegetarian one to a meaty sausage one. Lazio Firstly, lets begin with the crust, in my opinion, the heart of a good pizza. I’ll admit it, I do have a soft spot for Neapolitan styled woodfired crust. With a nice subtly burnt flavour on the outside and that signature woodfire crisp to that fluffy soft and aerated interior, what’s there not to love? Candelori’s does a pretty good job...

Asides the feast they had planned for us, they also had some local producers there showcasing their amazing and fresh produces. My favourite of the night? Cheese (buffalo mozarella to be exact) demonstration! These guys are brilliant and super quick handed in making these creamy gorgeous balls of delicousness!

Candelori’s is owned and operated by the Candelori family since 1999 and provides a beautiful, high quality venue for social and business occasions in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. Located in Smithfield, Candelori’s has recently undergone an extensive renovation and a revitalisation of their menu. This is my (MC’s) first solo review for the Casual Food Blogger and I was glad to be part of the big reopening night for Candelori’s. I have previously been to Candelori’s many times since their beginning in 1999, and looked forward to seeing the freshly renovated restaurant. Located out in Smithfields is Candeloris, an italian eatery that’s recently undergone a million dollar fitout as it gears up for the future. The area in which it sits and its premium feel is at odds with the glow of hot neon coming from the kebab/local takeaway venues. Candeloris is a surprise and its fitout and styling would not go miss in the innercity, doublebay but here it sits in smithfield. Its premium and feels like it.  We attend their launch event and scouted out the premises and the eats. Marbles, polished granite floors and dark walnut is stylish. Impressive bit of machinery here. He’s shaving some amazing prosciutto. Tremendous. Not sure if everyone knew this was the best prosciutto you could get in the world but Candeloris brought this in for the launch.. A duo of freshly made cheeses – Buffalo Mozzarella, Burrata. Oozy and fresh, these were clean and fresh. Bruschetta. Ample topping and good flavours. Crumbed Stuffed Olives. Simple ingredients as fresh mozarella, tomatoes

I absolutely adored and enjoyed their wood-fired pizza margherita D.O.C.! The simplicity of tomato, melted buffalo mozzerella, basil and some extra virgin olive oil in a nice thin pizza base was perfection!

Lots of seating although book ahead especially on Saturdays as it’s very popular, Quite nice décor, Big focus on seafood, Service seemed down-to-earth and friendly although got a little absent towards the end
Belly Rumbles
A thin pizza base topped with bufala mozzarella, thinly sliced mushrooms and prosciutto. It is then given a slight splash of truffle oil, which really does bring this pizza to a new level, delicious. Of course there are many other pizzas on the menu, all just as appetising.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Everything’s bigger out West. Candelori’s , situated in an unassuming strip of shops in Smithfield, is no exception. Pushing open the enormous door, you enter a vast, 270-seater space that employs polished concrete pillar panels and floors to give a monumental feel that summons Utzon. The menu and wine list are equally big. You’re offered five bruschette; and four carpaccio; each under their own menu sub-header. Beef Carpaccio ($24) is classic: wafer thin sirloin, snap-fried capers, rocket, lemon juice, olive oil, shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. It’s eclipsed only when a skillet of the plumpest Baked Figs ($24) arrive, wrapped in prosciutto and oozing Gorgonzola. They’re lewdly perfect, particularly with wine. A soft 2013 Il Conte ‘Navicchio Offida’ Pecorino DOCG ($14/glass) comes highly recommended by the fast-moving, black-clad floor team, led by Christian Candelori. His dad is out the back making fresh pasta; on a Sunday. Ergo it’s a requirement; be it rustic, ribbon-cut egg Pappardelle ($28) with rich, chunky osso buco ragu, or... ...a paper-wrapped package of Squid Ink Tagliolini ($36) with scampi, scallops and the best-cooked baby calamari I’ve ever had. Sitting back with a chilled glass of the on-tap, nutty Menabrea ($9) , I feel mighty satisfied. Be assured whatever desserts like Cassata Russolini ($18) lack in finesse, they make up for in largesse. Stuff’s bigger out here. I Ate My Way Through
Often, the ‘fancier’ the restaurant, the more it gets associated with a bulky corporation, unfeeling and impersonal. Well, I’m happy to say that Candelori’s – a fixture of the Sydney’s Western Suburbs fine dining scene since 1999 – is not only still within the family, but is run by son Christian...

Terrible service, nice food. I have been here a couple of time already and although I like the food, I am very disappointed with the service.<br/>Its true that the layout is beautiful but at times the service is rude and snooty, almost pretentious. I don't understand why they wont serve a bottle of tap water, saying that they don't do that and that they will only fill up your glass with water if its empty but not give you a bottle. And then quickly add in afterwards, ' Now would you like to order sparkling or still water?' <br/>Not impressed with this marketing/selling tactic.

Awesome. From the impressive, modern interior to the beautiful selection of food on the menu to the great service, Candelori's is doing a lot right.<br/><br/>We love this place and can't wait to come back again soon.
Speedygonzales92
Terrible. We went to Candelori's to celebrate my mother in laws birthday, there was 6 of us for an 8pm booking. The decor was nice and the open kitchen interesting. The service was terrible and the food was average, not at all reflecting the exorbitant price. Would not recommend to anyone. I am not usually one to complain about food places as it isnt hard to make decent food and maintain decent service, and its difficult to get it right every time but I was not at all satisfied at Candelori's. <br/><br/>The waiter asked if we were ready to order to which we gave him our entree order, and had to ask if we could order drinks as well. He was less than friendly and at times rude. We got one entree delivered about 20mins after we ordered which was just a simple fig bruschetta, the figs weren't even ripe. Our drinks were delivered by another waiter and upon being asked what drink I had ordered I responded Lemon, Lime and Bitters which was not on the tray he had. Once he had delivered the drinks to the rest of the table he asked me again and said he would get it for me. He never came back. My partner noticed that his napkin was dirty, even though there was no way he could have made that mess.<br/>The main waiter came to take our entree plates away but then realised we hadnt actually received the entrees yet. We had asked how many olives come in a serve and were told 'about 5' so ordered 2 servings. When the olives came there were at least 10 on each plate, therefore we had ordered twice what we needed to because of misinformation. The octopus and lemon entree was nice. I still hadnt received my drink and asked one of the female staff if she could see where it was. She came back, without the drink, to ask if i had ordered it, if I had already had one because she didnt want to double charge, and I explained that I had ordered it with everyone else (an hour ago) and I still had not received it. Eventually I got my Lemon Lime and Bitters. <br/>After already waiting ages for our entrees we were again waiting for our mains when we noticed that the people on the table behind us, who had arrived after us with the same number of people, had already been served their mains and were close to finishing. We also noticed two female staff chatting away when they probably could have been helping out.<br/>Our main meals finally arrived around 9.30pm. I ordered the carbonara which was average, had a lot of basil, and was a very small serving size. Never in my life have I ordered a pasta and been able to finish it easily. My partner ordered the quail which was dry and salty. Having ordered quail many times before he was disappointed. The others ordered the squid ink pasta which was nothing special and a pasta containing crab, which was overcooked.<br/><br/>The boys decided to order the Affogato to finish off and we made a joke about how long it would take for it to be brought to the table. It was no joke that we had to wait 20 minutes for it. I mean how long does it take to put a scoop of gelato into a cup, pour the liqueur and make the espresso. <br/><br/>Needless to say, we have no plans to go back again.

Great Food with a side of bad service. Our family recently dined at Candelori's with great disappointment. We had heard it advertised on the radio and as big Italian foodies, thought we would try it out. <br/>The food itself was absolutely amazing! stuffed zucchini flowers were a standout and we all thoroughly enjoyed our mains. However, it was overpriced! $70 for a lobster hotpot with very little meat is one example. <br/>The disappointing part was the service- the staff were all quite hostile and had a cold front. Except for one waitress (young Asian lady) she was the only saving grace to this restaurants bad manners. They never said please or thank you and no smiles or jovial attitude! We were there for a birthday celebration and when they brought the cake out nobody sang happy birthday- it was just dumped in front of my father. Often restaurants that serve up birthday cakes will serve it with cream or ice cream, which they didn't and when we left- they never returned the remainder of our birthday cake! We went back in to get it and there was still half left! <br/>They also charged us $9 for what we requested to be tap water. The "sommelier" was not very knowledgeable and did not allow us to taste the wine before having a glass- we did not like it and had to pay for it, even though we didn't drink it and told them we weren't happy with the choice. We asked it to be replaced with a local beer. To which they brought out an Italian brand that was just as bad as the wine. Returned that too- and was also charged for it! We attempted to have a light conversation with the wait staff but they either ignored us or gave one word responses- very rude. <br/>It is a shame that such beautiful food was spoiled by ill mannered staff- The experience of going out for dinner is to incorporate the entire atmosphere of food and service and sadly this restaurant does not put enough effort into their service.

This restaurant has a lovely contemporary atmosphere and is truly a hidden gem. The staff provided excellent service throughout the night for my group, especially from the waitresses. I would recommend any pizza lovers to experience pizza from Candelori's - it is the best pizza we have had in Sydney. We had such a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!

For many years my family and I have been dining at this restaurant for numerous occasions, but after last night I can assure you neither my family or I will been dining that this appalling restaurant. Not only did they get our reservations wrong but they were also rude about it, trying to blame it on us. A waitress had constantly been talking to other colleges about my family and I and looking at us in hatred , she was rude on serval occasion where she would turn her back to us as we were asking for cutlery or drinks, once we had paid she completely verbally attacked me by yelling and swearing at me, the OWNER himself just stood there and said to us "she's my girlfriend I can't do anything". She followed us out of the restaurant into the street and continued verbally attacking both myself and my family with her disgusting language. I have never been to an establishment where a manager lets there staff talk to paying customers like that, VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING! Not only have you've lost loyal customers but you have also lost the respect we once had for you.

Very ordinary Itaian food for a very expensive price..... Went there in Wed night(State of Origin night) for our anniversary, very disappointed.<br/>Staff were not attentive at all and there was only about 20 people in the place the whole time I was there.<br/>Food was very ordinary.<br/>Ordered the stuffed calamari that came with a king prawn that was so over cooked, that it was soft and mushy in texture(yuk!!). If you cant cook a prawn right, how can you get the rest right. Actually what it showed, is that the food is pre-cooked hours before then reheated again to the point where this get well and truly overcooked.<br/>Also two other items we ordered were not how the menu described them to be, very disappointed. <br/>I'm a local and try to support local eateries, but sorry to say , wont be going back, to expensive for very average Italian food.
Karen
The setting is amazing! I would have never imagined a great restaurant in this area. The food was good, a bit pricey but the taste and service makes up for it. Definitely coming here again
S.J.S
Service was decent, made and error on the same dish twice in a row but excellent flavour when made right. A little too pricey for the area, and the manager exudes an overly pompous air.

Average Meal. We've been to Candelori's on many occasions over the years & were impressed with the new renovations. We were a large party with 6 children. The new menu was good but too large still. The main thing that put a damper on our evening was our rude food waiter, he was rude to the children & told us he won't take any more separate order for the children & to give him all our orders as the kitchen was busy. So what, it doesn't matter we were there for a dinning experience. The children's food was good but ours was mixed in quality & we had to wait for one persons meal & of all things it was Lasanga, can't be a popular dish in an Italian restaurant. I had also asked for the mains to be delayed for a while, that wasn't adhered to either, if we had been there as a couple I would have made them take it back. The best thing about the evening was the wine waiter & his recommendation, the wine was great & we ordered another bottle. Not sure if I'd try the restaurant again as it is quite expensive & still a very noisy restaurant & we do have another fantastic Italian restaurant in Fairfield.

A big surprise out west :). When friends of mine invited me to a restaurant in Smithfield, I said they must be joking. <br/><br/>Well, call me surprised! <br/><br/>Walking into this place is a grand, impressive experience, as if walking into a six star hotel in the centre of Sydney. It's stunning, with beautiful pendant lighting features, huge mirror features, impressive curved marble benches and a lovely open kitchen. The first thought is how on earth a place like this is all the way out west in Smithfield, of all places?<br/><br/>Packed to the brim with a bustling, contemporary atmosphere, we were greeted and quickly brought to our table right in front of the 20 metre long marble kitchen. Our group decided to start off with a Wagyu Bresaola, which was finished with fried capers, olive oil and grated parmesan and a Fig, Rocket and Prosciutto Bruschetta, which was drizzled with aged balsamic. These were superb, along with the flavoursome crumbed olives which were filled with goat's cheese. <br/><br/>For our entrees, I had the traditional favourite: garlic prawns. This dish is done the way an old Italian nonna would do it - with a beautiful homemade red sauce, plenty of garlic and olive oil, served sizzling in an iron pot. Fantastic! Another friend had the fresh sydney rock oysters with goat's cheese, pancetta, sundried tomatoes and balsamic. These looked great too, while the ladies shared a woodfired pizza margherita which they said was amazing as it was done the traditional Neapolitan way - thin and light. Perfect.<br/><br/>For mains, I had the filetto 'mille gusti' which is a grilled eye fillet encrusted with a herb mix and served with woodfired capsicums. The meat was grilled to perfection and it was a truly delightful dish. My friend had the whole snapper - the special of the day, and boy was it big! It was prepared simply - grilled and oven finished with thyme, lemon and fennel. My partner had the deboned spatchcock filled with mascarpone which she said was lovely, while my other friend had the lamb cutlets which were very tender and were finished with mint and pine nuts. <br/><br/>The service at this place is impeccable as well. The staff are friendly and are regularly checking if things are ok and whether we needed more drinks. We didn't have to ask for service, we were treated like VIPs! <br/><br/>If you're looking to try something different in Sydney, Candelori's honestly is a hidden gem that's been a local favourite for years. That a place of this calibre exists in Western Sydney should put everyone in the foodie bubble of the inner west and eastern suburbs on notice.

Great all round. We love coming to Candelori's for special occasions as it is a bit more expensive for a normal night out but it's wonderful as a treat! We love the food and the service has always been very good when we eat there. We went at the end of last year during the busy christmas period and the food and the staff were excellent.<br/>We are looking forward to seeing the newly renovated restaurant :)

Beautiful. The food and service were amazing. Desert devine. We were planning when we could come back again before we had even left. Just scrumptious......
Occasional Diner
Very, very, very slow. Candelori's at Smithfield is nicely decorated. It is a very large restaurant, and consequently is very noisy.<br/><br/>Tonight, I was one of a party of 6 adults and two small children who dined at Candelori's to celebrate a birthday. We arrived at 6:30pm, and the restaurant was already very full. We had a reservation so there was no trouble to get our table.<br/><br/>The main problem was the time that it took to have our main meals served. Yes, there was confusion with the drinks waiters, as several other reviewers have noted. Yes, the food was of a variable standard - my medium rare char-grilled steak was only warm in the middle (I would call it blue). Yes, the mains were not served at the same time to all the diners in our party. However, we ordered our meals by quarter to seven, and it was 8:35pm when the mains were finally served. This was not due to a long and complicated series of appetizers.<br/><br/>We complained to our waiter who told us that it was a very busy Saturday and they had several functions. However, it didn't look like they had more tables set than normal.<br/><br/>Our waiter also told us at 8:15 that our meals would be no more than 10 minutes longer,.<br/><br/>My recommendation is to find somewhere else.
PMP
Don't waste your time. So this is a little delayed in going up, but is a recent experience with the restaurant.<br/>Our group arrived for a booking for 830pm but were not able to be seated right away, despite being told that when we booked that would have to wait for the later seating so that they would be able to accommodate us.<br/>Next issue: we were asked multiple times if we would like drinks. Despite ordering drinks the first time we were asked, we kept getting asked if we would like to order drinks while we were still waiting for our drinks order to arrive. We ordered tap water for the table and were served water that cost $9 a bottle and despite asking for clarification on whether it was tap water and being reassured that it was, we were still charged for it at the end of the night.<br/>We then waited, and waited, and waited and waited for our mains. We were told, after we asked at the 1hr 15 min mark, that because we were a large group we should have ordered the banquet menu and that they were only ensuring that out food would all arrive together. As a gesture of good will, the restaurant kindly provided us bread to munch on while we waited. The, staff have brought out free bread that was supposed to accompany the oil and vinegar that had been sitting on our table since before we arrived anyway. It was however, very kind of the wait staff to provide 4 pieces of complimentary bread for a table seating 15 people.<br/>When our mains arrived, some of us were slightly disappointed in the quality of food as it was of pretty average standard and nothing that special considering the price. The thing we all found most amusing though, was the fact that the food did not arrive all at once. In fact, despite being told multiple times that the meals would arrive together when they arrive and that we were to blame for not ordering the banquet menu that we were not offered at any point one of the people at our table waited an extra 20 minutes after the rest of us had been served for her salad to arrive.<br/>We skipped dessert because despite having an 830 booking, we didn't eat till after 10pm.<br/>If management is reading this, this is the table of 15 people you treated extremely rudely on 27/08/2013 so in return we paid a close to $500.00 bill with exact money and failed to leave you a tip.

AUTHENTIC QUALITY ITALIAN. September 2013, table of 7 for a birthday celebration. Food here is very good for the western suburbs. Nice authentic Italian, every meal delicious except the margherita pizza was very sloppy because the sauce soaked through the base. The King prawns off the grill were very tasty except I'm not a fan of prawns served in their shells - too messy but that was my mistake -I should have asked. Best meals were zucchini flowers entree, veal oscar main and the stupendo dessert was absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive. Bill was $500 including $75 bottle of wine. Highly recommend, nothing better around here.

Terrible and arrogant customer service! We had to wait over an hour for our - pretty average at best - food, and when we queried the wait staff, they responded with attitude and told us we should have " known it would take this long"! TERRIBLE RESTAURANT!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! GO TO A GOOD RESTAURANT!!!!!!
P.G.
The evening started ok, but started to go downhill fairly quick. There was no coordination between the waiters, we got asked for drinks 3 times by 3 different waiters, then we asked for table water. They put bottles down on our table and after people had poured their water, we discovered that they had not given us tap water but a $9 per bottle water that we didn't ask for. Sneqky sneaky. After more than an hours wait, we asked how our food was going. The waiter responded with attitude saying that because we didn't order the "set menu" we should have known it would take this long. No apologies, no "let me check and get back to you" just an arrogant response. How dare we expect customer service. We were not the only table waiting forever, but there was a table of people next to us who sat down after us, ate, then paid and left before we even got our food (which was not worth the wait). I guess because we weren't Italian we didn't get special treatment (ie. normal restaurant customer service) The only thing I can say positive about the place is that a waiter opened the door for us when we left. So apart from him, the customer service was pathetic at best. One star for that one waiter.

My partner and I have only good things to say about Candeloris, from the food to the service and the ambience it's a 10/10 on all fronts. We have been there over half a dozen times and it never once has let us down, it's our little indulgence. Must try the veal saltinbocca and if you love Tiramisu you need to save room for potentially the best one you're yet to have.

How to do it wrong.. I don't know how this place has such a high rating, does nobody have any taste? The menu is long winded, but you basically have the choice of bad starters, bad pastas, bad meat of some variety, bad seafood and bad pizza. Overpriced, tasteless pub grub. In fact, calling it pub grub is an insult to pub grub. If you haven't eaten here yet, think yourself lucky and avoid it like the plague!

Come here for the atmosphere. The ambience here is lovely and the food is great quality. <br/>A nice taste of authentic homemade Italian food in the West

Beautiful Mother's Day lunch. My family took me to Candelori's for Mother's Day lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. They had a four course menu for the day, I had the salt & pepper soft shell crab for entree, the wonderful crispy skin snapper fillet for main and a delicious tiramisu for dessert. The service could not really be faulted - the waitstaff were attentive & knowledgeable, recommending an excellent Italian wine for our meals. It was my first time there, and I would be glad to go back. Definitely the perfect venue for special occasions. :)

Poor Form. This was once our favourite restaurant but no more. We recently ordered a chicken breast envelope dish. After a couple of bites I noticed the inside of the chicken was pink and gelatinous. We pointed this out to the waiter and the took it to the kitchen. We were disgusted that he brought it back saying it was cooked. Needless to say we ate no more, and only stayed without raising a fuss because our daughter wanted dessert. To add insult to injury we were charged for the mains we did not eat. Bottom line - you should not leave a restaurant hungry.
