Honestly this isn’t a ‘fancy’ restaurant like some of the reviews point out, it’s just like any restaurant you find at Hilliaries or any boar Harbour, so if you want ‘fancy’ then go to the city and stop complaining! We ordered a couple of pizzas and our favorite was the Tandoori Chicken. Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. It’s BYO but that saves so much money, BWS is right next door too. Staff were bubbly and helpful and it was totally worth the money, already planned my next dine in!
Friendly staff, great location, the nicest pizza i have had in Perth. My favorite is the Dei Pirata, it's also the only one i've had cause i can't bring myself to order anything else for fear of disappointment

Grate service....starting from the booking, nice available staff....great pizza. Enjoyed entirely.....is a rare thing now days that you can enjoy a pizza in Perth.

First time here and it's quite a quaint little place . Excellent customer service so no complaints here. The pizzas were just ok in my opinion. I had a seafood pizza and was disappointed to see what appeared to be tinned seafood, not fresh seafood. Toppings were not generous and the pizza base was just ok too. 3 pizzas ordered and a couple of drinks for $90 seems a bit rich to me.
Great little venue. Awesome wood-fired pizza. I had the marinara pizza and man it was good. I finished mine and had 3 slices of my wife's Caribbean pizza too.
A fabulous find! A great atmosphere, quick and friendly service and seriously delicious pizza. We shared the meat lovers pizza with pineapple and the pumpkin, rocket and feta salad. Awesome value and we will definately be back.
This is our favourite little restaurant. Beautiful food, amazing service and a view - you can't find this anywhere else. we love to go here on a balmy afternoon and enjoy a bottle of wine (byo) over a pizza and a salad. We have literally planned part of our soon to be 2 months in Europe over the amazing food here.
LOVE THIS PLACE. My friends and I have eaten here a few times in the few months and we just love this place. the food is always tasty and the new owners have really turned the place around with their friendly approach, and hard work .
Took a risk after being turned off by the look. Thankfully pleasantly surprised. Really nice pizza, garlic bread & salad $38 and enough to feed 2 or 3 with desert. Lovely spot to have a bite and watch the sunset. It's what it proclaims to be a pizzeria. Also didn't know it was bypass.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, Italian restaurant with great wood fired pizzas.. As a local in this area for many years, I have not supported this restaurant for a long time after being served by the very rude previous owner. I heard that it has just been taken over so decided I to give it a try last night. I was pleasantly surprised! The new owners are lovely and friendly and have great plans for this little restaurant. I had a lovely vegetarian pizza and my hubbie had a meat based pizza. Both very tasty. Good luck to the new owners.
Delicious pizza, great atmosphere!. Had a spur of the moment idea to try this place out. Very cool pirate themed restaurant. They were very busy but my boyfriend and I got a nice table as walk-ins. Service was friendly and attentive even though they were clearly run off their feet. BYO so we got some beers from the bottle shop next door, very convenient. When our food arrived they apologised for the delay (we hadn't noticed) and they gave us garlic bread to make up for it. The pizzas and the garlic bread was amazing. Will definitely go back.
The service is very questionable. It seems they just don't understand! However the pizza and salad awesome.
We went to il pirata on a Wednesday night before Christmas and were a little surprised that the new place was a little smaller than that of doubleview. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a ravioli dish and must say it was a big improvement to our previous visits to the previous caffe. The pizza was possibly the best any three of us had ever had and the ravioli was fresh light and very tasty. Certainly wont be too long till ill be back!
At last a restaurant with some character on Westcoast hwy. Easily the best Pizza in Perth and the staff are so friendly definitely worth a visit 10 / 10
The pizza at Il Pirata is really great. As far as local pizza joints go, this place really does rate highly... Which is the only reason that I on occasion go there and put up with their manager, whose rudeness and short temper are a serious detriment to an otherwise nice little restaurant. This has twice caused me to ring up and start ordering a pizza only to stop my order halfway through and cancel. On another occasion I had listen to him yell at people over the phone while sitting at the cafe next door!
Aside from that issue, the rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful and the pizza is delicious.
Recommended as a takeaway pizza - you get to enjoy their great pizza without having to deal with the manager's unfortunate disposition towards his paying customers.

DELISH. Il pirata in sorrento is the most amazing pizza place! Such fantastic service, food, atmosphere, set up, me and my friends had such an enjoyable time, great food, Molto bene! I advise everyone to come here!!!

Little Gem. A great little resturant with a great theme both my kids loved it. The pizza's were brilliant the best we have had in a long time. We found the owner and the young Italian man to both be very warm and welcoming I didnt see any rude behaviour to anyone whilst we where there so I dont see what all the fuss is about. We will definatly be returning and recomend this great little resturant to all of our friends.
Great atmosphere and something different. Enjoyed the whole expirence. diners must remember though that it's pizza restaurant that can't take bookings not a 5 star restaurant where you sit for 3 hours .Get in enjoy and make way for others waiting to get table
Ahoy me hearties!. I'd read the reviews, I'd even boycotted the place for a few months but last night my family had a wonderful dining experience and the most divine pizzas. We had a lovely Italian waiter who went out of his way to give us good service. The food is spot on. And we loved the theming. It's cosy, it's different and it's SO CLOSE to our house!
This place is a gem, I don't know about the allegedly grumpy owner as he wasn't there last night so cannot comment on that. My husband says he is fine and you just have to go with it. He's just a bit different. Others say he's like the Pizza Nazi (think Soup Nazi). I was a tad disappointed that we missed him so we will just have to go back. I can totally recommend the Jack Sparrow pizza. The kids had a pizza where we asked for a few different things on the menu and they were more than happy to go along with it. They even had pirate hats for us to where. LIKE IT.
Fabulous!!. Me and my work mates LOVE Il Pirata in Sorrento - it has become our monthly Saturday night after work pig out!!!
We have ALWAYS been given great service with laughs and have never been given rude service - The manager/owner and his son have always made us feel welcome and appreciated!!

The whole concept of this restaurant is great, it has a cosy and fun atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is great, probably the tastiest and most authentic Italian wood fire pizza I've had. Excellent value for money. Overall a very enjoyable experience!

Excellent evening all round. The atmosphere of the Sackville tce Pizzeria was authentic,cozy, and quaint. We were a group of 31 including 9 children between the ages of 2 and 10. A good number of our guests were of Italian descent. The service was very good. I'm a firm believer that you get what you give. We were very good customers - polite and considerate of the fact that they still had one other table they were serving and take away orders to fill. The atmosphere at times was a bit smoky due to the wood fire, but they did their best to deal with this. The pizza was probably the best you can find in Perth and came out in a timely manner. If you are going to book a function here, I would recommend going in and discussing your seating/table arrangements as it is a very small place and you may be disappointed if you are not all at one table. Also, I would organise for the the antipasto platters ahead of time so that they are on the table for people to nibble on while you are ordering and organising who should sit where. I also let them know beforehand that I had a gluten intolerant guest and they were happy for me to bring along a couple of gluten free bases which they made up for us. I found the owner very flexible, accommodating and friendly. The night was a huge success and everyone had a fabulous time.

Amazing!. The best pizza outside of Italy with a delectably crunchy pizza base. The pasta sauce was incredibly rich with homemade pasta that was to die for. Really nice relaxed and chilled atmosphere that made it one of the best Italian places in Sorrento! I went with my Mum, Dad and Brother and was pleased by the whole thing! :D
Had pizza last night and was excellent! The location and table everything warm and different. Being an Italian i found difficult having proper pizza! Il pirata responded to my needs. Come back for sure!
Superb!. Il Pirata is a rare gem! Stunning food, fantastic wait staff and an authentic Italian atmosphere! Without a doubt the best pizza there is out there! il Pirata makes dining out a warm and comfortable experience and you feel like you're at a friend's house rather than a restaurant. Enjoyable. We happened upon Il Pirata with friends of ours and decided to give it a try for a quick, early meal and were glad we did!
The food was excellent!! We had the Captain Jack Sparrow ($25) and Red Sea ($25) Pizzas as well as the Cappiletti Pasta ($25) and can say it is probably the best pizza / pasta we have had in Perth – simple and genuine food.
It is “BYO”, but luckily there is a bottle store right next door, so a quick two minute walk had some cold beers and a bottle of wine on the table!!! We were charged a small “corkage” charge for these ($5 per couple)
The atmosphere and decor is tremendous, small and cozy – it suits what Il Pirata is – a quirky pizzeria!
Reading some of the other reviews they appear mixed!! I must say we had an excellent experience and enjoyed our evening at Il Pirata. Service was very good and although there were a few people waiting for tables by the time we were finished, we were not in any way pressured to hurry up or leave.
If you fancy a simple, quick (but extremely tasty!) pizza or pasta at a good price, it is certainly worth a try. We will certainly go back.

Viva Italia!! This is a slice of genuine Italy. The pasta rates with the best and for the added touch, the owner can string enough words of English together to get the order right. This is 100% worth a try and value for money.

The beauty about us humans is that we all have different tastes. For example, if you read some of the reviews about this restaurant, certain people have the courage of comparing the dining experience at the Pirata in Sorrento to other pretty average restaurants such as the White Salt. What can I say!? Others instead, focus on the owner's rather unique character, and extravagant attitude. Yes he is properly unique...there's no two ways about that!
My very personal but heart felt recommendation is: don't loose the opportunity of trying the best Pizza and pasta in Perth, paired with the surreal experience of travelling back in time to the 1500s (pirate's time!). The restaurant is a masterpiece of attention to details: from the tree trunk tables on which you get served, to the front wooden bi-folding doors, the large ship barrels on the walls, even, dare I say, to the owner character's "sharp edges" which makes the place even more picturesque.
It's all about the experience and you won't regret trying it! If you don't trust me, trust the queues of people that you will see night in and night out, religiously waiting to get seated to enjoy the amazing food, and the setting. Enjoy! I surely did, and do every time I go back!
Pizza Nazi!!. Think Soup Nazi (from Seinfeld for those of you not familiar with the character) and you have the pizza equivalent! Il Pirata makes amazing pizzas but yeah, the service is unique! Just go in with an open mind and a sense of humour and you will have a wonderful night. It's all about the experience and you won't regret that you took the plunge.
Best pizza in town!!. Thanks to the team for a great birthday dinner. As usual the pizza was amazing and the chocolate pizza cake a real winner. With its pirate theme, great wine and aaaaahrguably the best pizza in town you'd be crazy not to give it a go.
Full of character. Ordered the "caribbean live" pizza and also a ham and cheese one for my son ... Owner is a real character ... friendly and gave us some entrees on the house ... several rice,cheese&tomato balls - I think they were called arancini. Fully licensed but the wine options aren't great ... only one red and white are available by the glass and these are both house wines. Beer was a bit expensive for this type of place. Hardly any pasta options ... definitely worth coming here for the pizza though which was very tasty. Another thing to mention is that my son (9yo) was rendered speechless by the owner's manner towards him ... sort of like a grumpy uncle pushing him to drink some medicine ... in this case some of his italian sparkling orange-ade fizzy drink. All up, a bit bizarre, but an enjoyable experience.
Service can be like the Italian fawlty towers at times but that is a small price to pay for THE BEST!!... that's right the best traditional wood fired pizzas in Perth!!!

We were staying at the accommodation close by so got takeaway pizzas, pasta and salad from there. The vegetarian pizza was the best vegetarian pizza I think I've ever had. The rest of the food was yummy too. The service was friendly and fast. Definitely recommend

I placed an order for pizza and pasta for my Mum's birthday. Due to covid restrictions I wasn't able to travel to WA to celebrate with her. Such friendly and efficient service from the staff at Il Pirata. Mum and Dad said the woodfired vegetarian pizza, gnocchi and rocket salad was absolutely delicious and the staff even wished her a happy birthday. Mum was delighted and it made her day, and mine. Thank you Il Pirata.
We are currently in isolation at a location close to the restaurant. We rang up to see if we could order take-away and if they could deliver. They were so sweet and obliging. The food was so delicious and good quality. We ordered the gnocchi which was tasty and very authentic. We also got a single serve salad which was huge(!!) and a pizza. It was delicious and wood fired and the base was crisp and chewy - some of the best we have had!! Highly recommend

Garlic bread was so good starting things off nicely.
We had fettuccine carbonara that was great portion and very good .
But the pizzas best I have had in Perth fresh home made pizza base brilliant.
Tandoori and moroccan lamb tasted beautiful and great size.
Definitely will.be back what a great find.
