Review Soprano's Pizzeria Ristorante - South Perth

Sue Cairnes
The restaurant was quite old but clean and comfortable. The food was good although I wouldn't say it was great. The wood fired pizzas seemed to be what all the other patrons were having and these did look yummy. The upstairs toilets would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues.

Recent visit for dinner with a friend. Garlic bread starter was very average. I had the penne mains which was quite tasteless and my companion moaned her gnocchi was equally tasteless. Its a bit of a strange venue. Toilets are upstairs and there's a strange stale smell up there, plus they use different temperature bulbs all over the place which is a bit strange (for me). I'm sure it has redeeming features but I found it very unexciting, it's a low 3 for me. Easy parking at the back.

Bisecca was the best and the pizza bread bianca was lovely. Calamari was too salty.

The service here is absolutely wonderful! We came to celebrate me and my mum's birthdays and the staff at Sopranos went above and beyond making us feel special. They brought out candles and even a complimentary cake alongside the one we'd brought ourselves, without us even asking them to. Such lovely people! Plus, the food was delicious and came very quickly after ordering. The pizza especially was a highlight!

Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. We ordered arancini, bruschetta, garlic bread, pizza and a calzone. Everything was delicious. The staff were also very hospitable.

Great food! Great atmosphere! Really enjoyed the speed of service. Portions are a great size, and very fresh.

Unfortunately since the change of ownership, this family friendly favourite has dramatically fallen in standards. A large group of us dined there recently. 60% of the meals were below average. Creamy pastas ...minus the cream, and left with ‘juice’ ...yuck! Steak tasteless. Cannelloni flavourless. Espresso Martinis watery. Sadly we would definitely NOT recommend.

Best Italian place around! We’ve always driven past and decided one time to give it a go, and we did not regret it! It’s now one of our go to restaurants. The food is delicious, service is great and all of the staff are friendly! 1000% recommend.

I’ve never experienced such unpleasant and rude service by a restaurant owner/manager. I left utterly distraught in tears and will never return nor do I recommend ANYONE book a function. Booked upstairs function room for a birthday, visited weeks prior to confirm set menu and room layout. On the night food service was very slow (2 hour wait for entre followed by another hour for main). The agreed menu was not provided and Phil (manager) said “you’ve brought a cake so we will not serve dessert”. This ensued by the Manager refusing to bring out dessert and stating the initial numbers to the numbers who arrived was different, I said we’re in the middle of a pandemic, corona virus and it is to be expected. I then asked to be charged the $39 set menu which does not include dessert, manager refused and was argumentative and condescending. We had a bar tab and I was shocked to find that the manager was charging people for drinks as they left, effectively double charging. When I took a photo of the manager he aggressively came to my face and said “you better be careful” <br/>I’m disappointed anyone in this mans position can have such poor people skills and effectively ruined what was to be a milestone for my parent. <br/>His wait staff were polite, the food below average and the service from Manager shocking and very upsetting.

Used to be great in about 2009. Shame it went downhill. Got complacent and started doing silly things. The last time we went in about 2018, we were so gutted by their poor food that we went home quite annoyed. After thumping the pillow with my fists and crying for an extended period of time, I realised that they had mentioned the owner was covering for the chef in the kitchen (barely), gave it another shot, same average Aus Italian cuisine. Could be much, much better if they tried.

Came on a Monday night for dinner for 4. The restaurant was pretty quiet with many empty tables, yet it took a good 10 minutes for a table to be organised by staff (we were asked to wait outside whilst they did so), which honestly seemed completely bizarre given so many tables were set up already & free. Not the greatest start. We ordered the arancini (average), the calamari fritti (sorry but these were exactly like the giant frozen squid rings you buy in the supermarket), and the pizza bianco (good). For mains we shared the Fresca pizza, capricciosa and classic Margherita - pizza was ok but not particularly special. Staff were polite but hard to flag down (only 2 wait staff on this particular night), menu is fairly unexciting and hasn’t changed in a long time. Sopranos has so much potential and a great setting but just doesn't quite get there with their food. With so many great eateries in Perth, places like this need to step up their game if they want customers to return.

OMG! Terrible! Function upstairs, while we were a party of 20 downstairs. Staff and resources were not geared up for the demand that would bring. Quite a debacle. Waited 1 1/2 hours for mains. Drinks took 15 mins plus (to counter this we resorted to ordering two drinks each time). Some staff were testy when challenged on why stuff was taking so long or if one person asked for say extra sauce (because the mains were not endowed with the right amount of sauce) - it gets brought out - and another person thinks that a good idea and also asks for more sauce. Was it the staff&#039;s fault for being so on edge, in part, yes, but something more is going on (or not going on) in this restaurant behind the scenes for the experience to be the stand out negative dining experience for the year for me. Do not go. It is not what a dining experience is meant to be.

My friend & I work in South Perth and decided to go there for a lunch, and oh my, it was AMAZING! It was quiet, which meant the food came out quickly and hot. I had a pizza and my friend had the pumpkin ravioli and we shared the aranchini. It was the right amount of food and delicious. There was nothing to fault. Will definitely be back!! 1 entree, 2 meals and 2 wines- $76, cannot complain.

Friendly staff and good food. Loved their pizza bread with olive tapenade! Liked the texture and taste of their fettuccine, wondered if they made their own pasta, it's just very different from others.

Visited this place with a friend this evening. We made a booking as this place was so busy. It's a quaint cosy restaurant. We had the linguine gamberi and the ravioli. Both were simply delicious. Very quick service and beautiful homely feeling. Will come back to try the Chilli mussels. Perfect for a date night or a quiet dinner. Also very affordable under $60 for the two of us.

Went here for a late night supper date. It was actually really romantic and I loved it. Had a seafood platter and my boyfriend raved about the fish. I had the pizza called La Donna, and it was delizioso... If I could change anything about this restaurant it would be the name and the tacky signage out the front. Like with the handgun for the "r"...? Like no this is not a gangster hangout.

Well I got a Tiramisu with a disgusting cadbury  chocolate powder even when they said it comes with coco powder and that`s what it says on the menu for 9.5 Dollars. <br/><br/>And the food that we ordered was pretty bad as well. it was 90% Tomatoes and 5 % cheese and 5% basil. <br/><br/>This place is to be skipped....

Oh what a complete disaster this place is. We booked a table of six expecting a lovely dining experience as we have visited this establishment previous.<br/> Well were do we start with this train wreck of an evening! <br/>The greeting on arrival was lukewarm with a mere point in the general direction where you are to be seated.<br/>Then there was an unnecessary confusion with taking our order as we requested the fettuccine to be modified without mushrooms & onions which seemed to us quite a simple request. <br/>Obviously this became more complicated than needed to be as two portions of fettuccine was served to us with both having mushrooms & onions. We raised our concerns to the waitress whom seemed quite confused with this simple request.<br/>The zuppa my two companions ordered was stingy to say the least as they both had to go fishing for any resemblance of any seafood with only 4 mussels to be found & very little else.<br/>The pizzas are made with what appears to be cheap ingredients that are void of any flavour & substance.<br/>My veal scaloppine was OK a little bit mean in regards to portion size.<br/>When we finished our mains my dinner companions were keen to see if this place could make amends with their desserts. After receiving the dessert menu the decision was made to try the sticky date pudding. We were then informed that the pudding was off the menu. <br/>Why wasn't this mentioned when we were given the menu in the first place!!!<br/>After sitting around for a little bit longer to order after dinner coffee & then been ignored, we reluctantly paid the bill & left in sheer bewilderment of the ad hoc experience. <br/>Sorry Sopranos.<br/>Last time here I'am afraid to say.

We came with a party of 6 and sat in one of the small rooms upstairs. Lovely atmosphere for a winters night with a fire in the room! The pasta was great with everything made fresh. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Was the old ladies birthday celebration and had eaten here last night for 10 people. Service was quality. The waitress that cared for our table did a superb job. Food wise everyone enjoyed there dishes, high praises for there seafood risotto and pizzas. The anti pasto was just too much salt on the one plate. Would recommend for a nice casual Italian feed.

Just nice coffee. Called in for coffee and dessert after not so good experience at The Windsor down the street. Desserts were very nice although a bit expensive. The 'special' Sticky Date pudding with gelato was $13 which was more expensive than all the others...not sure what was so special about it for that price. Coffees were good, but the 'pot of tea for two' turned out to be a half pot of hot water with two mugs with a tea bag in each and had to ask for milk and sugar. What is it these days with the lack of knowledge of the most basic needs of customers? Another thumbs down.

Saying goodbye is hard especially if the person is one of your favourite people. Likely we got to squeeze in a bit of pasta and plenty of animated conversations at Sopranos in South Perth. We enjoyed a Lasagne and Penne Arrabbiate with an affagatto and Bouchee for a dessert. The food was great and the dishes were generous while the staff are friendly.

Great Italian ............................................. staff are wonderful ......................................... lots of dots as I need to have 140 characters

Had a pleasant enough meal at Sopranos. The starter serves are small and on the higher end of the price scale for what is provided. The veal scallopini was tender, tasty and a decent serve. Sopranos is basic Italian style food and perfect for families.

I ordered take away from Soprano's which a lovely man on the phone said 30 minutes until the order was ready which was fine. Got there and was advised to wait another 5 more minutes which was totally fine.... 20 minutes later and still waiting. By the time I got the meal it had been 1 hours since I ordered! I expressed my annoyance and was told sorry, not offering any compensation. Get home and my meal had sun dried tomatoes after I requested they didn't. There was barely any sauce or flavour to my meal. My friends pasta dish had bone and fat which she had to pick out. Over all the hour wait for my food plus the meal itself was a waste of money, and time driving to get it. I would not recommend this place!

Came to Soprano's for a birthday dinner at 6.30pm on a Monday, there were 8 people.  We didn't order starters, just mains.  Suffice to say, we were still waiting for our mains to arrive at 8pm.  With small children it wasn't a very happy affair.  To boot, when my risotto arrived, the rice was undercooked and crunchy.  The stock was tasteless, it was like they had boiled the rice and simply added salt.  The chicken was sparse and dry.  Very disappointed in the service and the food.  There was no explanation for why the meals took so long, even when we complained.  Many tables arrived after us and left well before us.

We booked a table at Sopranos on Sat 22.10, for 7pm. when we got there no-one was there to greet us so we were left standing for at least 10 mins. whilst other guests were left waiting until they came over to us.,  because their staff were more interestered  in taking payments instead of people who had arrived for their dinner.  I have been there many times and they have been great , maybe a bit expensive! but always had a great sparkling wine menu as that is all I drink!!! This night, they did not have Croser by the glass as they always have in the past as we have been regular patrons and have always enjoyed it here.  but as i am a sparkling wine fan i did not enjoy their menu for sparkling that night ...they had prosecco which i do not like and asked for a glass of Croser which they said was not available by the glass but by the bottle for $45.  I could've brought my own but decided not to as previous occasions they have had Croser by the glass.  so I wasn't allowed  a glass, my hubby went to the liquor barons & bought me a Piccolo of Grant Burge. So that was ok but disappointing for me..... when we ordered our main, it was barramundi with veggies, but it was awful and overpriced at $39 and only 4 little sweet potato  chips and zucchini and that was it.  Wasn't  tasty and didn't enjoy it .  When we went to pay the bill, it was over $260-00- for 4 of us.  I had an entertainment bonus on my phone which they didn't even know how to redeem it and after a very embarrassing 10 minutes I had to get out my card to get my discount.. then they charged me $3-00 for corkage which I thought was rude considering my friends ordered 2 red wines each at $48-00.  Not going back there again... ever!!!! too expensive.. fish was tasteless and hardly any veggies... and overpriced at $39-00 on their "SPECIALS" menu!!!!! Manager was not customer friendly... garlic bread was ordinary..

We were looking for a nice local restaurant though I have never seen it more than half full even on Friday and Saturday evenings. So, the gut feeling is that there is something wrong with this restaurant especially when 1.5km down Mill Point Rd South Perth there is Ciao Italia which is always full to the extent of 4 deep at the door every night they are open. Even though the feeling was negative, we would not know for sure, thus to keep it on our list as a regular restaurant to go to or cross it off our list altogether. First thing we noticed with Sopranos was the dirty walls, paint bubbling off the walls and the wet rot in the windows. Menus were on the table though no wine list and then we were left alone, waiting and waiting and trying to flag down the attention of our or any waiter. We were sitting in the rear room, slightly quieter though fully visible from the front desk. The time our waiter noticed us again, we had already worked out what we were going to have. We ordered for entrée, the Italian bread which was not so fresh and served with those little packet butters (like you get in those country 2 star hotels with your breakfast tray). We were offered oil and chilli to go with the bread or was that to go with the salt and pepper calamari? What happened to the olive oil and balsamic for the bread? The salt and pepper calamari had 10 calamari rings, each about 4cm, thin and shriveled looking with a soft lettuce mix salad (not fresh and crisp) and a tartar sauce that had obviously been too long in the fridge. We ate our 10 calamari rings and left the rest including our not so fresh bread with little butter packets. Next were our mains. I had the seafood risotto ai frutti di mare and my wife had the zuppa di pescatore. My risotto looked like normal white rice with a seafood mix thrown in. My wife's Zuppa had 4 small mussels and a few tiny 1cm round pieces of fish. Both the risotto and fish soup were very light on in flavour. Then came the desert menu. When I asked what type of ice cream/cream came with the sticky date pudding and apple pie and were told gelate ice cream, we politely declined deserts. The coffees were OK and we finished off with 2 limoncello aperitifs.Trying to ask for the bill was an impossibility as we were totally ignored. I suspect the waiter's minimal job (as he saw it) was done! We got up and paid for our meal at the cash register noting the group waiter conversation going on.The owners have an A1 geographical position, the website looks great and inviting, all South Perth is at your doorstop with very little competition.....but the establishment is run down, poorly managed by a bunch of students as your waiters who'd rather a good chat between themselves with the restaurant offering really very poor Italian cuisine. Maybe the pizzas are really good!

Well located with ample parking<br/>Extensive menu - great garlic bread and the main options were delicious especially the scallopini<br/>Dessert choice of sticky date was a bit dry<br/>Service was good <br/>Cramped table space - felt hemmed in against the wall <br/>Cocktails nice <br/>Overall a bit expensive for what it was

Their pizza is so good and so as their steaks!! It's so tender that it melted inside your mouth 😁 I'll give their pasta 6.5 out of 10!!! The staff are very helpful incase you can't decide what to have.. But I'm quite disappointed when they told us they ran out of sweet pizza so we end up getting our dessert to different place!! 😊

This place was amazing!! I was here for a night out with my partner and the service was exceptional. We waited not long to be seated and the food arrived with great timing. Roberto and Sarah were very welcoming and hospitable, they did above and beyond their roles and are excellent wait staff. Thank you for your lovely service and tasty food!!

Have eaten here a few times and every time the service has left a lot to be desired. Sometimes it is downright rude. The food is just ok, standard fare for a family Italian restaurant. I won't be back again.

Having lived in Como / South Perth for seven years, it was with total amazement that it dawned on me, as we searched high and low for an Italian open in the lead-up to Easter, that I had never been to Sopranos. The alternatives were a certain restaurant on Preston Street (on my blacklist), a gorgeous pizza café on Coode Street (sadly closed) and a corner Italian on Mill Point Road (which I have also never visited, because the queues are ridiculous). And so, despite a mixed bunch of reviews, we decided to try Sopranos, also on Mill Point Road but closer to Mends Street. We were greeted by the manager who proffered an Italian greeting, despite being Australian (to be fair, I appreciated the effort and he may, of course, be of Italian descent). The restaurant was quiet, but the welcome warm – we were early, and it did pick up. The manager was very particular about greeting everyone personally and chatting to them if the opportunity arose. We took our seats and began to explore the menu. As Will Ferrell joked in Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, “I love a restaurant with a really long menu. You just know they do all the dishes perfectly.” This, of course, is usually not the case. I always say beware of restaurants with extensive menus, and especially ones with photos or pictures of the food. I was a bit put off by the wide range of options at Sopranos, but having said that they were all fairly legitimate offerings across pasta, lasagne, beef, salads, fish, dessert, and so on. We chose mushrooms off the specials menu, calamari off the starter list, and Bolognese and marinara for mains. The service was great. Our mushrooms, delicious as they were, were a little on the small side, but probably a good thing. Calamari was tender and beautifully battered, with perfect seasoning. Both mains were huge – and I loved that. Not only that, but for their size they were well priced. Others in this area charge a fortune for small, supposedly intricate dishes. I want robust, bold and flavoursome. Sopranos were almost there on all counts. The Bolognese was a smidge too bland, but otherwise very nice. It seemed to lack the depth of flavour a traditional homemade sauce, but was totally acceptable. I think it was a short-cook sauce, not one that had been improving for hours on the stove. The marinara was lovely, with a good amount of seafood and a solid flavour. I liked the fact the waiter didn’t offer me parmesan, but did offer my dining partner for her Bolognese. This was either an oversight, or demonstrative of his knowledge that you shouldn’t have parmesan with seafood. I’d go back.

Our local favourite! The staff are so lovely and the owner very accommodating and so friendly. The pumpkin Ravioli with blue cheese and pink peppercorn sauce is just Devine. Lovely atmosphere, great drinks and always a wonderful evening. I'll miss this place when we leave Perth.

Food here is typical Italian fare, served in fairly generous portions and with a hit n miss quality that's slightly above that of your average Italian café. For starters, we ordered Italian sausage with olives ($14) -- a tasty but tiny dish -- and arancini balls ($12) which were nice enough without being outstanding.<br/>Mains included an unusual but tasty fig jam + cacciatore pizza ($15 entrée size), Roma pizza ($23), Margarita pizza on gluten free crust ($18 -- a nice change to find a place that doesn't charge extra for GF option), and a GF pasta dish with a creamy sauce of mushrooms, onion, garlic + bacon ($23). All dishes were satisfying although they mucked up the pasta order by bringing out a gluten dish so one person at our table had to wait while everyone else ate. Not good.<br/>Now to the complaints...<br/>My Toblerone cocktail held a lot of promise but the reality was a watered down mess of cream and milk laced with the faint taste of Baileys Kahlua and Frangelico. All this for the princely sum of $16!<br/>The service in general was polite but exceedingly slow and very Dory-like. We'd ask for parmesan for eg, and the waitress would say yes but then go off and do something completely unrelated to the request. When it happens once, you can forgive. But more than once and it's just annoying.<br/>Worst for last though -- the tables were filthy. Pure, unadulterated filth lined the surface areas of the two tables that made up our spot for the night. That was enough to turn my stomach and we would've been out in a few seconds flat had we not been waiting for our food.<br/>I'd stay away from this place in future based on the lack of hygiene. Shame really, coz the food is quite okay.

Fantastic Service, the waitresses were so lovely letting us eat when it was clear they were close to closing. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a good feed with friendly floor staff, and props to the chef for a fantastic meal.

Have been here numerous times, each time gets better and better. Chilli mussels are amazing flavour and so fresh, pasta dishes are large and yum! The steak was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. Will be back here again soon.

Went there a few weeks ago, typical Italian restaurant. I quite enjoyed the seafood marinara pasta and desserts were good. It gave the family run Italian resto vibe, so cosy and friendly. It got filled up pretty quickly on a Friday night. Kinda do wish they do lunch.
Pierre
Unimpressed! <br/>Very ordinary service and the food was tasteless. <br/>I don't wish to waste time in writing this review. Never again will I be making the mistake of venturing in there. I couldn't be anymore honest here.

Posted by Tina on Saturday, October 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment   The Sapranos is a family owned italian restaurant situated on Mill Point Road in South Perth, just across from the Perth Zoo carparking. The restaurant has a homely, relaxed atmosphere to it, and unlike other restaurants, it literally is a two-storey (HUGE) house turned dining venue. The music, art (lovely paintings around the area) and decor with a cosy wood-styled fireplace in their room fitted nicely with the atmosphere, adding a level of a comfortable dining experience, and a good place for dinner catch-ups. The wait-staff are friendly, pleasant and are willing to accomodate to your needs (the way they should be!). We booked for table of two to begin with, and when we changed our booking, they went around looking for a spare table to move  us from a two-seater to a more comfortable three-four-people seater (despite the fact that they were busy). A service, that is does not usually occur at other restaurants. The food is a typical italian menu and does not have a great wine list, but their menu is one that sits within a average price range. They accomodate well for vegetarians able to remove/add ingredients according to person’s wishes, which was great for my cousin. Their food isn’t a wow-factor but it is lovely italian, a little on the light side with their fetticuine, but they do make a mean tomato-chilli sauce and pasta dish and I had the Chef’s special – chicken tenderloins with pischuitto that was lightly pan-fried along with roasted potatoes and spinach in a lovely sauce was just great chicken – not dry at all! Excuse the VERY low quality of the photos – i was using someone else’s camera and it just didn’t do what it was suppose to! I actually enjoyed my dining experience here. It’s pleasant. The dishes are resonably sized and priced – no over-eating will occur and it’s situated in a lovely area. If you are bloated you could always walk down to the foreshore and watch the Perth’s skyline. It’s

My husband said to give the pizza 9 out of 10. Such light and crispy base. Best pizza I've had in a long time. First time here. Staff very friendly.

Average in all respects.

Terrible service. Will not be coming back.. For reasons I cannot fully disclose on urbanspoon, but I just wanted to say I came here for what was supposed to be a romantic evening with my partner and it turned out to be anything but. The waitress was pushy, the pizza was good but there was something wrong with our pasta and the manager was very rude to us to the point of being insulting when we left because we didn't want the pasta dish. I expect more from an establishment that wants to charge through the nose for sub-standard food.
Fiona
Great Service, Great Food. I went to Sopranos for the first time tonight and found the food amazing and the service even better! I was hoping for a pesto based pasta however they did not have this on the menu. I mentioned it to the waiter who asked the chef and they told me they were happy to make this.....it was beautiful!!! Service was great too and kept an eye on the table as drinks finished and removed plates in a timely manner. I will be going back and recommending to friends!
Barb
Worst pizza ever. We had pizza for lunch and it was the worst pizza I have ever had. For a pizza over $20 had to look for the topping.

I went on a Friday night for a work function. We were told to be there for a 7.30 start. Our function was upstairs and was only about ~40-50 people. Obviously the resturant would have known to prepare for a big function with a set menu, however we waited an hour for our entree's! As we were already angry that we had to wait that long, to our further disappointment we then waited another hour and a half for our mains which were very average. A lot of people had left before the mains even came out as they did not want to wait until 10pm to eat a meal! The floor manager was rude and unfriendly and was disgusted when we all left before he wanted to start bringing out dessert! Have never been to a restaurant where they have been so unprepared for a function and I will never be returning! DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Poor service. We went on Friday night, we believe it was busy upstairs, but, where we were wasn't too bad.<br/><br/>The comedy of error's started when the waitress bought our mains out before our entree's , we told her we ordered a pizza to share and a side of chips. She took the mains away, came out with the chips we waited another 10mins for our pizza, which was average and not very hot. One hour and fifteen minutes later out came the mains, I had the special of the day " snapper and vegetables" the best thing on the plate was the puréed sweet potate, my partner had the "Mistro Mare" a combination of seafood, this was cold & bland . The waitress then came out with another bowl of chips, which we did not order. We asked for a glass of lemon lime & bitters, instead of a glass the waitress brings us a jug....then we order sweets, I had the bacci icecream, a small serve of ice cream with large icy bits in it. My partner had the lemon sorbet, which he said was quite nice. We waited half an hour for a cup of tea. <br/><br/>We were very disappointed. The service was terrible and the food I thought very average.<br/><br/>We will not be going back any time soon, that's for sure.
Jessica Snelling
Typical Italian Ristorante!. I love coming here for a good italian meal however I find the restaurant quite loud. Also, I am gluten free and have tried their gluten free pizza bases and would NOT recommend it to other gluten free people. Saying that, the pasta is great and always tastes delicious.

Great night out. We went there on a Friday night and had a wonderful meal. The service was friendly and welcoming.<br/>The chilli mussels were delish and the calamari yummmm.<br/>We will be back again soon.

Shocking! We were waiting.... Shocking!<br/><br/>We were waiting for our food for an hour to receive cold mussles and a small amount of pasta which was considered as main. We ordered another main and were organising our own cutlery while the plates on the table were piling up.best thing about soprano's was that we don't have to come back.

Did not enjoy the gnocchi, was very plain. Ordered kids ice creams with chocolate sauce for $3.50 each which were served in the smallest bowl I have ever seen with a third of a scoop of ice cream and the sauce was practically nonexistent. Stop by Maccas on they way home for a .30 cent icecream cone instead!

Excellent night. Last night a group of twelve of us went to Sopranos for dinner. Marco the waiter was excellent and very patient. The other wait staff were also very good. Everybody enjoyed their meal, which was a good sized serve and the price was reasonable. The food was of a high standard and tasted delicious. If you are looking for somewhere that gives good value for money, this is the place to go. Thanks so much to everybody for a great night!

Flavourless Lasagna. Not a great Mother's Day dinner. I have never eaten such a boring, tasteless lasagna. The guy at the next table had to send his lasagna back three times to get it warm enough to eat. On the positive side, they had a gluten free pasta option for my daughter.

If you want great authentic Italian food and lovely customer service, go for it.. I just stumbled over it on a Monday night and the place was busy

Sensational. This is the second time that we have dined at Soprano's. The first time was as a family and the most recent time as a couple. Both times we have been delighted with both the service and the food. All the food was beautifully presented, served promptly, fresh and extremely tasty.<br/>What a lovely combination of service and ambiance. Pizza its excellent truly Italian light and tasty , Home made pasta its to die for also meats and seafood are top quality . Definitely going back !

What a shame food was tasteless well the veal was the garlic prawns nice, dessert sticky date pudding - dry an sauce lacked taste. service good. We have been going for years but won't go back disappointed.

Will not be returning!. My Boyfriend and I dined here last night and were bitterly disappointed with both the food and service. I ordered the Scaloppine which was veal medallion with roast potato and wilted spinach, what I received was a few slabs of overdone slices of meat with a serving of broccoli, beans and roasted capsicum. I spoke to the waiter asking if they had brought out the wrong meal he replied saying he'll bring out potatoes (whilst giving me a uncertain look), we sat for over 15 minutes waiting for the potato which never arrived. I ate half of the meal and when we went to pay explained that I was quite unimpressed and never got the potatoes. The waiter (or manager perhaps) then grabbed the menu to prove me wrong, however the menu was as I stated and he offered me a merely $7 off?! I normally never complain about food and can pretty much eat anything, but when you receive something you never asked for and are paying for that then that will definitely rub me the wrong way. The way they handled it and then only offered a pathetic $7 was a insult and I will be telling all my friends to avoid this place.

Tasteless. I went to sopranos last saturday evening for what I though would be a nice dinner. How I was wrong.I ordered pasta and chicken and was meant to have a garlic sauce with it, and garlic bread.Chicken was dry and not enough of it and the sauce was so tasteless,I think they forgot the garlic. The garlic bread, which came out when my main was almost finished was very soggy and obviously made from very stale bread. My partner ordered steak, medium rare. This came out well done and rubbery,Just one lump of steak,a tiny bit of mash and a tomato! Horrible! it was very bland. We complained when we left and as we had not eaten most of it we got a discount of $3 (corkage) after paying about $75 for a terrible meal. We will not be returning. It is really over priced for very average food.

A W F U L. The worst restaurant ever!!! Extremely expensive compare to price and amount of meal! not amazing service! ordered best food based on their menu for our anniversary and after that went to another restaurant to satisfy our hunger and to find a better plate unfortunately !!! it is shocking that they ask us for tip after a late cold meal that seems enough for a kid and not that tasty!! I am so sad to choose such a place for eating...

Chris. Having dined here before and been satisfied with the experience, we went again last night and it was below average. Chicken was dry and lacked seasoning, had to chase service a couple of times, and while 2 desserts came out within 10 minutes of us finally being attended to to order them, we had to chase a waiter again and ask where the other desserts were... then it took another 5 minutes to get them - and no apology for the delay. It was a pretty warm night, and the air conditioning in the restaurant was either not working or inadequate, which made the experience even more unpleasant.

Food is very delicious, great service and it doesn't come with a big bill either. Definitely will go back!

Thank you! Amazing function!. My fiance and I celebrated our engagement at Sopranos back in July and everyone had a wonderful night! We used the function area downstairs and despite it being a chilly night, everyone was warm and happy with tummies full of really delicious (and generous portions) of finger foods. Even our gluten-free guests were looked after with lots of options. We were the last guests in the restaurant at the end of the night and there was no pressure put on us to pack up- thank you for a great evening!

Today we enjoyed an awesome meal at this gorgeous restaurant. The waitress was so happy go lucky and this extended to our great table service. Seems its the place to be with heaps of patrons for Friday lunch. Our food was so tasty and well presented. The Italian wine recommended by the waitress was perfect . I can recommend this place to anyone. In the heart of south perth opposite the zoo it was great to sit and chill with our coffee later. Compliments to the chef...

Slow but friendly service, especially given it wasn't stupidly busy. Food was tasty, though portion sizes for the mains were somewhat small for the price - only the pasta filled up any patrons on our hungry table. Nice atmosphere inside, nice to see a restaurant with decent furniture and comfortable chairs. We'd go back, but only for the pasta, and only if we weren't in a hurry - didn't get our mains after we'd be there over an hour.
Phoebe
Was a great meal and the staff were very friendly and helpful. <br/>They had a list of gluten free meals which made it very easy and I didn't have to bother the chef. <br/>Gluten free pasta was amazing! <br/>Would highly recommend!

Good food..for smaller groups. We had booked a table for two at 7pm on August 3rd and were seated promptly in the outdoor area under a heater. Our drinks were dispatched quickly and our <br/>order of a shared entree and two mains taken. The entree of calamari came out 10 minutes later and was light and delicious. Our plates were cleared and new cutlery was supplied along with a fresh bottle of water. The mains arrived 25 minutes later and were delightful. Fresh pasta served with cracked pepper was just right and the veal parmigiana was plentiful and tasty. 15 minutes after finishing our meal no one had asked us if we wanted dessert so we paid and departed. Overall a pleasant meal. However, a large table of 9 had been seated prior to us and had not received their main by the time we left. Additionally a table of 4 behind us also suffered the same fate and did not receive their main until we left (about 50 minutes after they ordered). Would recommend for parties no larger than two.

Not happy!! We waited 1 hou.... Not happy!!<br/>We waited 1 hour for our entree and then another 30 minutes for our main meal then when the meal came out the chicken was dry. We were told that the problem was to do with the "computer" come on folks, there are Results and Excuses you can't have both!! I wonder if the computer cooked the chicken?? PS the couple behind our table walked out without their main meal and without paying!

Horrible place. I was waiting for 40 minutes just for my FLAT GUINESS AND a horrible chips and cold garlic bread. And another 30 minutes for the pizza. Staff rude manager rude. Not reccomend

Delicious!. Living close by, we frequent Soprano's often and have never been disappointed. This last weekend we found ourselves there 2 nights running by chance (a good sign!). The pizzas are always delicious, the ravioli with pink peppercorns a firm favourite. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. The outside area with the heaters is fab and cosy. If I was to complain about anything, I think the starters are a tad small and overpriced. We've tried most places in South Perth and are always guaranteed a good meal at Soprano's.

Disappointed. My Scallopini was quite small for a main meal and was cold, at $25 was way over priced.<br/>My partners Linguini Gamberi was mostly under cooked pasta with five prawns and was also cold.

Will become a regular. First time to Soprano's. We were put in the outside courtyard, thinking that it would be cold but pleasantly surprised. The heater was on and the room was very toasty. It was a busy night, but didn't have to wait to long for our food,. I had a pasta which was tastey and my parnter had the Angello which was outstanding. The staff was very freindly and very attentive. Have allready booked a table for another night. Try Soprano's...Brilliant..

Best Italian. My boyfriend and I always go to The Windsor and walk or drive past this place. FINALLY, decided to go here instead. AMAZING pasta. In my opinion the best I've ever had. The chilli mussels were also to die for! The price was reasonable (very similar to the Windsor).<br/>Didn't have to wait much at all. The staff were friendly and professional.
Foody
The food was delicious, and we did not have to wait long. The dessert (I had the panacotta), was to die for. Friendly staff and a really good Italian atmosphere.

Four years ago I first ordered from this restaurant and was the last! but for some crazy reason I decided to return hoping for a change? Firstly the waiting time for my takeaway was 45 min I did not recv my garlic bread, pasta portions was just way to small, cold and completly tasteless....never to return

I'd rather starve than eat at this sad excuse for a restaurant. Same owner for twelve years you'd think they would have got it rite by now. Pasta was hard and had been over cooked that the lasagna sheets had stuck together and were harder than a brick. Portions small. Completely ripped off! Shut up doors and move on to a better investment!

Won't return. I made a booking for 15 people a few weeks ago, when we arrived we were placed at two different tables meters apart. After trying to put the tables together so our party could dine all together a staff very rudely separated the table responding we don't serve tables this size and you must sit separately! I have worked for years in hospitality, servicing tables much larger than this with no problem. <br/><br/>Our meals took over 1hr 20 mins to arrive. I do not see this as an appropriate time for 9pm at night when the restaurant was nearly empty. After we had waited about 45 mins I managed to get the attention of a staff member who was standing around laughing and joking with another colleague. I politely asking her how long our food would be. "I will find out for you" she said as she walked away, rolling her eyes and going back to chatting with her colleague. I feel this behaviour is very inappropriate, where has good customer service gone these days? Our meals were presented to us after a long, hungry wait. <br/><br/>Overall the staff made our time in your restaurant uncomfortable and unpleasant! Due to the expensive prices of your meals and poor service I will not be returning.

My partner and I went to Sopranos last night with another couple and our dining<br/>experience was fanastic! The staff and service were great and the food was sensational!

I visited Sopranos with a group of ladies on Valentines Day after having trouble finding a good restaurant without a special set menu. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating when an extra guest turned up for our table. We all ordered the fish special which was absolutely delicious. Our desserts which were shared amongst us all were equally amazing. We were all very impressed. I will definitely be back for another meal.
Petros
The food here is okay. Service very very slow and a lot of the staff seem distracted. Took 45 mins to get garlic bread! The place was only half full and now I know why. We won't be going back again.

Function Review. Great rustic ambience & outstanding service. Last night (8/2), was upstairs for a work function - the set menu had options of pasta, wood fired pizza, gourmet salad w/chicken, crumbed veal (there may have been more) Servings of dishes were of a generous proportion. It was byo wine or open bar which suited individual tastes. Water was filtered & bottles were replaced regularly. Although collectively speeches did take some time, waiters did not interrupt. I had the pizza with prosciuto & rocket..generous servings of both to my delight..colleagues on either side liked their pasta & were impressed with portion size. The service was refreshing & when a few of us left at 10:45, a male in a white uniform who was dining outside told us to enjoy our evening as we exited. Friendliness was impressive- we enjoyed the ferry ride back across the river.

I was so impressed with the service and the quality of food. Best pasta I've ever had!

Ordered take away pasta, pizza & salad. Was ready shortly after scheduled pick up time and was very good quality food. Not cheap but was worth the extra cost.

We're in the restaurant as I write this review, and we've been waiting for over 40 mins for our food. All the tables around us have been here longer than us and also have not been served. Lets just hope the foods good when it finally arrives!! Argh!

Fantastic. Just got home from a lovely dining experience. Calamari fritti was great as always. We also had the salciccia for entree, again very nice. For the main I ordered the Bistecca. It was without doubt the best piece of sirloin I have ever had!! It was cooked just how I like it, medium rare. The mustard sauce was beautiful. I would highly recommend sopranos to anyone and it's just not pizza and pasta!! 10/10

Good pizza. Arrived on a Saturday evening without a booking and were seated promptly. Ordered the pizza bread with dipping sauces for a starter and a pizza for the main and both were delicious. Service was ok-not bad and not great. Would eat here again for the pizza.

Run for the hills. The seafood risotto was made with a block of butter, the pasta needed to be rescued from the pool of butter and I think they mistakenly took the firewood for pizza. Kerstin was up sick all night and I find myself also praying to the porcelain god this morning. No wonder the kids would not touch it, they must have a sense we loss as we grow older!

Fairly Ordinary. We were there a few weeks ago on a Friday for dinner. We hadn't booked but we were early enough to be seated without a problem. My sister had the Pollo con Gamberi which she said was bland. My Veal Parmigiana was tasteless. The boys had pizzas which they said were nice and my youngest nephew has calamari which he really enjoyed. It just was ordinary food and I wouldn't go back in a hurry.

Mmmmmmmmmmm.... Very yummy food, friendly excellent service.

Delicious food, pity about the service. Had dinner here with my boyfriend. The food was great- we had the antipasto platter (artichokes, sundried tomatoes, roast capsicum, proscuitto, italian sausage, olives, fetta) as a shared entree, and the veal scaloppine and spaghetti aglio olio pepperoncini for mains, both of which were delicious. The highlight however was the dessert special- a creamy mousse with frangelico and amaretti, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! There was only one lowlight to the evening- we booked at 6:30 for a table for two and were shown to a table with one leg much shorter than the other. All of the other tables at this point were empty, and when we requested a move we were told they were all booked out- by an hour and a half later, having finished our meals, more than half of the tables were still empty, and had been throughout our meal. We would have appreciated being shifted to a table which wasn't so wonky, as we had to stuff a whole stack of serviettes under the table leg to try and keep it from rocking.

Warm experiance. The service was great the waitstaff very relaxed and helpful, it was a really warm feeling inside the restaurant. The pasta was lovely and the pizza looked very good, someone on my table ordered a medium rare steak and got a well done looking steak. Defiantly go to Sopranos but maybe stick to the pasta or pizza!

The food was good, service good, didn't have the wine we ordered from menu and wine selection limited and pricey but overall good and would go back

I love this rustic Italian joint. Good wholesome food awesome Calzone and friendly, albeit sometimes slow, service. Give it a go, worth the outing.

Had dinner here last night, food would of been quite good if my steak was cooked to medium as I asked and not well done. Other than that my partners meal was very nice.

I Liked it..... Floated there on a week day night with Vegitarian partner, and found it a great warm place to have a feed. "Backpacker staff" were a little slow to "get it' but not a great drama at the end of the day. Perfectly acceptable Italian cuisine. Suprisingly enjoyed the experience for the third time in 2 months!

First, was a little concerned about the negative reviews, but the staff were lovely, chatty enough and attentive: what more could you want? the antipasti, salsiccia and fried whitebait were yummy. after considering the menu, i decided on my fave italian standby, the veal parmi and spag bog. the cotoletta was the best i've had and massive. the pasta had soaked up the liquid part of the sauce, making me think they had spent a little too long together...ie., pre-made and reheated or something, so the noodles themselves seemed overdone... but it was still very tasty and didn't stop me eating, nay scarfing, it all down with some nice pinot whose name eludes me... very nice evening, excellent company, great location and good finish to watching Wallabies trounce the USA.

Updated May 2019- Second time and last time here. Told the front of staff I had allergies, he kept talking to his staff while I was talking to him. He said “if I remember I will write down that you have allergies, but I’ve got 700 things to do”. What the hell??!! Extremely overpriced- for $29 risotto you get three prawns, 4 mussels and two bits of calamari and fish in an oil based sauce. Other places are cheaper, more delicious and great their customers like normal people. This place obviously doesn’t want people to come back. <br/><br/>The lady at front of house was exceptionally unfriendly towards not only ourselves, but the customers in front of us. She asked if we had a reservation and we said no, so she stopped serving us and answered phones for takeaway orders instead. It was so rude and after 10 minutes, if it wasn't so cold outside, we would have walked out. We were seated outside where their outdoor heaters weren't working. We asked for them to be turned on and the waiter tried but came back and said he couldn't fix it and the people that could are too busy. So we sat in the cold. The best thing was the waiter who was really polite and tried hard. Everything else was bad.

Who the hell do they think they are? Terrible customer service! Came here with 12 friends for a birthday dinner. People were running late as always so the manager told us to move down and give up the extra table. My friends arrived 20 minutes late and we were promptly told to order and eat quickly as they were fully booked. Not bloody likely! The food was ok but the pizza base was floury and tasteless. I feel bad for my friend as it put a dampener on his evening. Not coming back!

Good food. Great little place! food was ok, thats only because ive been all over europe and tried the best! staff were alittle rude but food made up for it!

Not the most exciting joint in town.... Ate at Sopranos last night and it was a bit of an underwhelming experience. As we had somewhere to be it was a bit of an eat and run affair so we ordered fresh bread and a margherita pizza to share. The food was average, it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had but it was far from the worst. The crust was good, light and not oily at all but a bit of freshly chopped basil on the topping would've been good rather than just a dried out large chunk on top of each slice which had been burnt to a crisp. Service was a little hit and miss, table service was fine but the charade of them pretending to struggle finding us a table at 5:45pm when there were only two other patrons in the restaurant and a half full reservation list in their book was ridiculous. Only real issue was the cleanliness of their plates, they came out slightly dusty (how this happens in a restaurant I don't know!) and spotted with water marks which makes you a bit dubious about how their kitchen is run. All up a 5/10, another restaurant I wish I could rate as "I think it's so-so" rather than "I like it" but I wouldn't rush back anytime soon.
