Review Vu's Vietnamese Cafe Restaurant - South Perth

david jones
So disappointing! First choice of mangoe prawns not available . Mangoes out of season! Second choice was rack of lamb. They came back and said they had ran out of lamb. Third choice of curry they had. When we ordered coffee they came back and said sorry- yes you guessed it - they had run out milk! But would we like it black. Food was okay when we received it.

Very disappointing. Food was extremely bland and waited over 45minutes for over-priced take away fried rice. Definitely a market for a cheap and cheerful Pho bar in the South Perth/Como area as unfortunately, Vu's is no longer delivering quality food.

Very tasty, clean Asian food. Fast and friendly service. Some favourites of ours are the diced beef, salt and pepper squid and cashew chicken. Highly recommend!

I tried 7 courses and they were all delish. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the restaurant to others. Friendly staff and great food. What else could you ask for.

Menu states "no MSG added", yet the green curry (which was brown...) was full of it. The pad thai noodle was extremely plain and we got the wrong beef salad, which also contained several hairs as an added something special... Guess we won't be ordering there again in a hurry.

Nice place, good service and good food! I had the mango prawn it was delicious! The taste of the sauce was excellent. The mango put in to this dishes was so so good

My partner & I have eaten at Vu's several times and the food has always been excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Banquet is a good way to start. Great food . Lovely waitresses . Pleasant atmosphere . Vu's book is great as well,

Booking and booking follow up were easy and well done. <br/>Food was just ok. It all tasted the same. I had Prawns in a basket, one friend had the sizzling beef which was tough, the Lemongrass chicken lacked flavour, another friend had the Prawn Salad, only a couple of prawns. <br/>Wait staff showed very little interest or enthusiasm. <br/>We didn’t stay for dessert or coffee. <br/>Disappointing.

There are many Vietnamese restaurants in Perth and this is a cellar dweller.  Overpriced and average food.  Long wait for service and what is apparent is that not many people eat here on Saturday night when it should be full.  Proprietor is hoist by his own petard.

Came for a mid week dinner for 2 and it was pretty quiet with only a few other diners. Ordered some dishes to share including their signature dish of mango prawns which was quite good, Vietnamese spring rolls, fried rice and ginger fish. Nothing exceptional and a little pricey in my opinion (portion sizes a bit small). Service was polite and ambience was quite nice.

Vu’s offers gluten-free and nut free options. This is a gross misrepresentation. They have NO IDEA about what items in their menu have gluten. I went in person to check before taking menus home to order. I am coeliac and my niece has a nut allergy. The staff put a cross against the items that contained gluten and a note about which had nuts. I ordered from the menu which had marks against those with gluten. On going to pick up the takeaways, the bill said three times “no gluten and no nuts”, but on re-questioning I was told that five of eight dishes contained gluten, but there “wasn’t much”. The man whose picture is on the recipe book on the counter could not tell without checking the box whether there was gluten in the spring roll wraps. His comment - “Oh, it has some wheat”. But there was worse to come. Despite clearly asking for nut-free food and telling them this was a serious allergy, one of the sauces contained lots of crushed peanuts. Despite eating only the dishes that I had had confirmed three times as gluten free I still got a dose of gluten and am writing this very unwell and very angry. My niece, luckily, did not eat the sauce with peanuts.<br/>Do not trust what these people say about providing gluten-free and nut-free options.

We booked a table of four last night at Vu Vietnamese restaurant in south Perth. We can't believe that the staff was so helpful, friendly and good. When the food came,it was very tasty, spicy and delicious. The chicken salad...hmmmm yummy.I would recommend Vu Vietnamese restaurant in south Perth to anyone.

Food tasty enough, not exceptional. Need to try more dishes next time to be able to properly review. I tried the fried whole fish with tamarind sauce which was on special tonight. Sauce was a bit more on the sweet side than I would have liked. And fish could be crispier. Price considered high compared to similar restaurants ($61 for 2 person). It's in the entertainment book which gives 25% discount which is a bonus! Worth trying

I ordered the Pad Thai under the 'Chef's Special' menu. Pad Thai is one of my favourite dishes but unfortunately this would have to be the most disappointing I have tried for a long time. It was extremely bland and very overprices for mainly just rice noodles and no meat/vegetables.
Kathryn
This place is waaaay overpriced, with terribly slow service and rude staff. The food was OK, but wouldn't recommend it. The BBQ Pork was over cooked and dry.
Jordan
Dined awhile ago , I had chicken rice noodles and lemongrass fish. The noodle was very oily and after I got home i felt extremely sick and spent my time in the toilet. The place is not very clean, there were bugs all over the place, hoped it didn't get into my food #foodpoisoning

I think the food was tasty but a bit overpriced and the portion is very small as well. <br/>We order The Vu's lamb curry and the braised duck with egg noodles. The curry was tasty but the lamb was very tough. The duck was well cooked but we got only one leg... <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

Last time I have tried this restaurant was a year ago and during then the food was alright. I came back 2 weeks ago to try it again and it has down graded ! the food is just horrible. I had Fried Rice which was not generous, it had ALOT of rice with little to nothing meat and veg and it was oily, the price I am paying for is $16.50 that is a rip off ! the dish itself is close to a plain rice, just with sauce and oil yet the price difference is just outrageous. Also the chef undercooked the Chicken Balls which could get people seriously sick. Overall Vu's restaurant is nothing special, he just advertises really well on the website but when you eat from this place it is just a disappointment.
Foodnmytum
Ordered their chilli squid via UberEATS. Nothing like the pic. The squid weren't battered at all- it was a rather sloppy mess.<br/>Ordered a beef dish too and it was surprisingly tasty.<br/>Felt ripped off and you really needed to eat it with rice given it was now a sloppy mess. The dipping sauce that came with it was something green- again completely different to what was advertised.

So very disappointed, yet again. We keep trying this place as we love Vietnamese food but this is always a let down. It's supposedly authentic but certainly doesn't come close to food we've eaten in our travels in Vietnam as well as the awesome Melbourne Vietnamese food scene. The Vietnamese Rice Noodles (with chicken and vegetables) were a tasteless gluggy mess. We've eaten a lot of this dish in the past and it's always been cooked with thick, flat (and deliciously charred) rice noodles, not rice vermicelli. The Vietnamese Beef Noodle Salad was marginally better but average at best. Vu's Special Spring Rolls were not so special and if you want to be authentic please serve with lettuce and mint to wrap them in - really tired of the poor effort put into "authentic" Vietnamese cuisine in Perth.

This restaurant is Overpriced , the service was not attentive, waited for 20minutes to order a meal. <br/>I had the Chicken Rice noodles which came burnt , less meat + veg and also very oily. The fried rice had no flavour and was soggy ? <br/>By far , the worst vietnamese food i have ever eaten. <br/>Highly Don't Recommend !

First time at Vu's. We got take away last night, but the venue looked really beautiful and the staff were lovely so we definitely plan to dine in soon. Absolutely blown away by Vu's raw beef salad - SO TASTY and the portion size was generous. The lamb rack was so tender and juicy and all the side veg was very good too. We either chose the best things on the menu or this place knows it's stuff! Can't wait to try some other things but it will be hard to stray away from these two dishes. Definitely the best Vietnamese I have had in a long long time.

Food was great. We each had the Special Banquet, the eight of us. Service, on the other hand, was really really slow. Almost 9pm and still here, after waiting at least half an hour for desert. Beginning to get a little bit silly.

Friday night date night and a different cuisine in a different location. He had heard about this place so I booked it in and away we went. The location is good for us, costing under $10 in an Uber and there is a bottle shop in the same complex so BYO is easy (don't drink and drive). We were greeted at the door by the friendly staff and escorted to our seats in the unusual and spacious restaurant. There is no ceiling, just a high roof lined with silver cladding. But there is a ceiling line so up to about 9 feet everything looks normal, with decorations and adornments on the walls, Asian in theme and suitably unusual. <br/>Our waiter had menus to us and our wine open quickly and we asked for advice on the dishes. For entree we had chicken balls (a little dry) and fish cakes (very yummy) while for mains we had Vietnamese diced beef and chicken with cashew nuts. everything was well presented, tasty, fresh and steaming hot. The service was quick, maybe a little too fast, but when you have to be home at a set time this is better than having to leave before dinner is done. Our experience ended with polite goodbyes as the staff opened the door for us. My only concern is for the huge tropical fish who has outgrown its tank. Say hi to it and wish it well if you're there.
Matthew
I love Vietnamese Cuisine and the food here is not authentic and tastless. My girlfriend had fried rice and it was very oily, less meat and SO PLAIN ! <br/>I had stir fry Chicken noodles and it was served burnt on the plate and dry, so disappointing. Don't recommend anyone to come here ! This restaurant is very overpriced and Waste of money !
Georgia Maggs
Awful, I ordered the vegetarian rice noodles and vegetarian fried rice and it was tasteless and hardly had any veggies, if you order this your basically ordering plain noodles and fried rice with no flavour, very annoyed , waste of money.
Frank
First time there and loved it!  Had the Vegetarian rice paper roll for Entrée and it was amazing.  Very fresh.Shared the Mango prawn and Fish Ginger.  I loved the Mango Prawn... licked up all of the sauce!  The Fish Ginger wasn't my choice but was still nice (Not a fan of ginger)Definitely would go there again.  The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5 was the décor.  The lights are a bit much.... and I'm not a fan of polished concrete floors!  Still the food was amazing which is the most important thing.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Beautiful, authentic Vietnamese in South Perth. Have ordered take away many a time and always been impressed by the freshness of ingredients, flavour packed dishes and professional service. The restaurant is very beautiful too and is perfect for date night. Chicken Cashew Nut is particularly nice and loaded with nutty goodness. Also really like the Fish Ginger which is very fresh and zingy.

We ordered six take away dishes two weeks ago.... on their take away menu they offer free delivery with a certain amount ... we spent $83.00 and was told that it was not available nor was the Entertainment coupon...  None the less, we picked it up and once we opened it up..  we where missing a Veggie Curry, our Veggie Pad Thai had chicken in it as well as the Veggie Rice...   anyone that eats meat said it was alright, but two others don't eat any meat!!  I  called back and they never picked up the phone.  I emailed them later and here we are , two weeks later and nothing to apologise or explain or replace....   Poor effort VU"S!!!!!!!
For The Love Of Food
Quite a nice atmosphere at Vu's Vietnamese, despite the fluorescent tinge from the decorative lights. The staff are friendly and attentive, we did not have to wait long to be seated, served and have our water glasses filled up. We ordered:<br/>Crispy Skin Duck with Plum Sauce, Pad Thai, Sizzling Beef and Vegetables and the Salt and Pepper Prawns. The prawns were very tasty, however the other dishes were no stand outs. I have had better pad thai (although the shredded egg was nice), and the sizzling beef was unfortunately tough. The duck was crispy and sauce was great, however like the beef the meat was a bit chewy. The complimentary prawn crackers were nice. The bill came to $75 for 3 people with the entertainment card 25% discount. I wouldn't go back without the discount card, however their takeaway prices are significantly cheaper.

If I could paint a picture on the decor of this venue it would be christmas meets new years sky show meets a cheesy valentines setting..The decor is an eyesore and I must say the food is good but I would takeaway to save your eyes the horror..Rice paper rolls are big and tasty and the pineapple fried rice is my favourite..not a fan of large fish being kept in small tanks as well
Jed
always used 2 be great curry...NOT ANYMORE...overcooked chicken and frozen bagged veggies peas corn and cubed carrot..yuck i swear that is NOT Vietnamese<br/>WASTE OF MONEY

In its day the food atmosphere and service were excellent sadly it has gone down hill over the years. <br/>We took a large group to Vu's a couple of weeks ago on the weekend and the place was empty the service was slow and they messed up the order. The food was ok but nothing to rave about <br/>To cap things of the manager gave us a hard time when we tried to split the bill. <br/><br/>We  wont be going back
Stuffyaface
I love Vus! The food here is so fresh and full of flavour I just can't fault it. Service is also good and the restaurants high ceilings and decor give it a nice feel. Dishes to try pineapple chicken, chilli beef and fish ginger. The fried icecream is best we've had too (ask for choc topping) in the entertainment book 1 entree 2 mains, rice and 2 drinks each was $101 with card $75
Russ
Get the Crispy Chicken. The meat just drops away from the bone. Nice atmosphere, lovely service, they even thought a request to move tables and sit closer to a heater was a perfectly fine request. We'll be back for sure.

Won't Return!. My Husabnd and I dined here on Friday night with friends, who had been told this place was fantastic. We decided on duck for entree which was served in a lettuce cup and just about blew my head off with chilli! I can handle chilli at the best of times but this was way too hot for me. Then we ordered the 'must try' lamb curry, lemongrass beef, pad Thai & sizzling chicken. The lemongrass beef and the sizzling chicken were the best out of the four dishes, the curry was woeful as the meat was chewy and the pad Thai was ordinary. Service was pretty good, all the wait staff were friendly and quick to respond when we needed anything. Unfortunately we won't go back as the overall experience was just 'ok'. One good thing....they are in the Entertainment book, so a generous discount applied to the overall bill of $180 for four including beer.

Will return. I ordered takeaway tonight, collected it and then realised that the person who took my order had gotten my order wrong. I returned and immediately the manageress rectified the problem, made sure the correct order got underway immediately and I walked out with the right food within a couple of minutes. The food was delicious, authentic, the beef was incredibly tender. I will definitely be back because despite the little human error, service was great and the food was better.
Debbie Hughes
RIDICULOUS WAIT. They told me 20-30 minutes for takeaway. It took 50 minutes. I had 10 guests waiting for dinner which was unfair for them and embarassing for me. <br/>They said:<br/>"It doesn't normally take this long. "<br/>"Would you like to speak to the kitchen?" <br/>The fact is I had a long wait last time too. <br/>You'd think they'd respect a customer spending close to $200, but they didn't know how. <br/>Also the portions are small. <br/>Such a shame because the food is nice.

This is the second time we have eaten at Vu's - the first was with a small group of friends and there was raw chicken on the plate when we told the waitress they showed no interest at all. The food was average and they messed up all our orders. The second time was take away and it was even worse, wrong meal, went back they did it again couldn't be bothered going back again, the pad thai was inedible and everything else was average. Wont be going back there again!
Steven Taylor
In fact I'm that disgusted by what I bought, I wish I'd had a piece of toast and donated the ridicules price charity. At least then a positive would have come out it and I would have enjoyed both the donation and my toast.
Wayne
Very slow to bring out order. Neighbouring table arrived after us. They have just finished their meal. We have just received our entree.

One of the Worst food in Perth. Expensive menu with nothing really Vietnamese-type dishes. Putting the word vietnamese in the name of the dishes doesn't make it authentic. just wanted a simple vietnamese meal with phó and soup, but there were none of those. It's more of a Chinese asian menu but even so, the food we had were very uninspiring and really don't taste all that great. Dinner experience: 1/10 (0 would be poison but I survived). individual food reviews on instagram @mayybites
Pete
Average food, tacky setting and terrible service
Charlene Samuel
Very friendly staff and excellent service. I had the Lemon Grass Chicken, good size portion and excellent flavours. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friend
Luuuc
Excellent. The prices at Vu's were a little higher than I expected from a Vietnamese restaurant, but as it turned out, Vu's is not your standard neighbourhood Vietnamese place. The service was excellent, and the food ... wow ... the food was just superb. As I logged on, I saw a few criticisms about serving size. These came as a particular surprise to me, as the pepper squid dish I ordered was huge! Everything was fresh and really tasty from entrees to the interesting sticky rice dessert, and there were so many great sounding things on the menu that we can't wait to return to sample more. Having recently moved to South Perth I have enjoyed the range of food on offer in the area, and Vu's is right up there.

Went to vus last night and I was left very dissapointed, after waiting an hour for our food we were delivered overpriced small portioned food, we had the pad Thai with 2 prawns in it after paying $23... Couldn't say that three hungry boys were happy <br/><br/>To add to our frustration a minute before they were about to bring out our highly anticipated food we were told that they had run out of asparagus... All up, a dissapointing experience leaving us with hungry tummies

Called into this place to grab a bite, chilli chicken was really nice. Worth a visit..

Smaller serves and increases in price. Living just around the corner, Vu's has been a favourite of ours for many years. We attended last night for our Mother's Day celebration and I have to say, my husband and I left disapppointed. The food is still tasty but the serves seem to be so much smaller. We ordered a lamb curry and I think we counted only 5 good bits of lamb in it. It seems the prices have increased quite dramatically as well with many dishes into the $30 mark. We were stunned at the small serve of rice at $3.50 too. We will still go occassionally but no longer a must go for us. Shop around for better Vietnamese I say.
Barnsey_123
Worst meal in months. Main meal took an hour and a half to come out even though wasn't busy. Then the meal I ordered with fish had no fish at all even though it costs extra. Just had extra tofu!
Rossgriffin82
Vu's. Went here for the first time on a quiet Wednesday night. Walked in to a nice atmosphere and were shown to a table. We were then forgotten about for at least 25 minutes before someone came to take a drink order, only after I put my hand up, as if I was bidding for something. Only two staff present in the whole restaurant, who seemed more interested in fixing vacant tables than servicing the minimal customers they had at the time. The whole evening went down hill from there! Starters came 30-40 mins later, and we're only average. No knives! Mains came another 40 mins later. $25 for a 'Vietnamese Mee Goreng' which tasted no better than the ones i get in Bali for $4. Couldn't wait to get out of here. If you want to wait, and wait, oh and wait more, come to Vu's. In fact the only sufficiently fast service was when I went to pay the bill! I never usually give bad reviews, but this restaurant is well worth the review.
Chris Fox
Slow service. Dined here with my partner on a Wednesday night, got given the menus then were forgotten about, took an hour from ordering to get the main, food was ok but nothing to write home about and it's not exactly cheap as all the mains are over 20 dollars. I know it's Perth and it's pricey to eat out but I think there are better more affordable options with quicker and more efficient service.
Orstri84
Yummy food. This is a very lovely restaurant and was very happy with my dinning experience. I had some special dishes from chef special menu basil duck and Vietnamese style tiger king prawn paw paw salad. It was absolutely yummy basil duck cooked in perfection and crispy but not oily. It is a must try at Vu's.
Kim Pedler
Nice. Went here on Saturday with group of friends. The area is lovely and feels very uncrowded. My fish cakes and soup were lovely. Was disappointing that one main meal didn't come out at the same time as the others.<br/>Some interesting items on menu and it is pricey.
Miller_sylvana
Fantastic dinning experience. I went to Vu's restaurant last night for work Christmas dinner party and i really enjoyed the place. It was my first time and will definitely be going back.

The Vu is no good!. After telling our friends from Kalgoorlie how good the Vu in South Perth, we left the place very disappointed. The dishes that we has grown to love over the years since we have been dining here, lacked any flavour & substance. I also believe the portions sizes have decreased with the pricing increasing. Once a favorite, not anymore!!!
Sheryl
We are fans of Vu's and used to frequent the restaurant often but it is some months since our last visit. Must say I was shocked by the prices - prawn dishes were all over 30 dollars, most other fishes were priced around 28 dollars which I think is high for standard Vietnamese fair. Wait staff are pleasant if quiet and reserved, service was good but not sure I will frequent Vu's
Ruth B
Visited this restaurant on 10 August with friends. Food was expensive for what it was. Example, the prawn dish battled to have 7 prawns in it and cost $30. Have been to better Vietnamese restaurants in Perth! Staff were very nice.
Susana S
Bill Discrepancy. I went with two other ladies from Fremantle for a dinner out - we love Vietnamese cuisine and had exhausted our local Vietnamese restaurants!<br/>Checked out the menu online prior to visiting and looked good - little pricey, but described on site as 'fine dining' so quite acceptable<br/>The décor is interesting. A beautiful tree in the centre of the room which provided almost enough lighting for the entire open area, a very high pitched ceiling with silver (alfoil looking) materials, Christmas trees (in august?), a fish tank and various gadgets around the place. Not fine dining design. Tables were basic, no cloths or placemats and chair were wicker look.<br/>Food was great. Beautifully cooked and presented in a timely fashion to table. Did not represent the look portrayed in the website gallery, but tasty and fresh nonetheless.<br/>Portions were ample.<br/>Service was fast, polite, attentive and with a smile.<br/>When ordering dessert, I noticed the prices differed to those advertised online. Looking at the full menu, I noticed several errors, and more closely, it was across the board! A banana fritter was $4.00 MORE on the restaurant version than online! That's a huge difference! There was a variation of just over $8.00 on our bill alone, and not in our favour! <br/>So I brought it to the waiter's attention. The explanation was that it needed to be updated. No apology. <br/>Unfortunately the bill was not adjusted. I would expected the dessert and coffees at least to be given to us at the website price, seeing those are the items we questions. On the very handy data serviced smartphone, my friend looked up the site and proved to the managing waitress the case, and still no adjustments (or apologies) were given. Left on a sour note as an advertised price and conflicting in store price gets you the product for free normally!
Jaz
Great food and Service. I have just attended a friend's birthday party at Vu's in South Perth for the first time. It was too good that i had to write my wonderful experience about this place in Urbanspoon. The food isn't overpriced if you want quality and freshness of the food. The quality of the food here is far different from Vietnamese food you get in Northbridge. <br/> I would rather pay a few dollars more for a dish here to get great food and service. Staff were always attentive, friendly and go out of their ways to service. <br/>I would recommend this place to people who love and appreciate quality food and service.
DMY
Expensive. Thank goodness we had an Entertainment card! I agree with the previous reviewer who said this was one of the most expensive Vietnamese restaurant you're likely to find. And yes, the portions are small, even niggardly. Staff were excellent, but still felt ripped off.
Tasteeee
Three strikes. I love Vietnamese food. I've tried Vu three times now and each time the food disappointed. Service excellent, staff friendly and efficient. The restaurant atmosphere and fit-out pleasant. But the food! Plenty of food choices, but not what I call Vietnamese and the dishes plated up to me on the three occasions were poor. Tonight, red curry chicken was over salted i could barely eat it. it had two small pieces of veggie but plenty of chicken. BBQ Quail lacked taste and the meat over cooked, very over priced dish. The Beef Salad was swimming in sauce, was heavily tamarind flavoured and lacked the hot, sour, citrus, herb flavours I expect of a Viet Salad. Rice I think was cooked a while ago and kept heated as it had started to dry. I know this review sounds very negative, however tonight has been as disappointing as the two previous occasions which I had put down to a rare off-night. But this is strike three for me. Sadly.
Lindyloo59
Worst value for money Vietnamese food I have had in Perth. Expensive and tiny portions. Quality ok but no better than some of the cheap restaurants in Northbridge. Will definitely not be back!!
FoodNinja
Nice food. I was lured here after reading the article on the owner. I expected an authentic Vietnamese menu...so was a little surprised when the menu read more like a Thai/Vietnamese/Chinese menu. Ordered the Vietnamese sour soup for entree - not bad - perhaps needed some more fish sauce and chilli. Suggest that the tables could be provided with a basket of condiments as in most Vietnamese restaurants so that customers can adjust for their own taste. For mains, had the pineapple fried rice in a pineapple half shell (was a bit bland to be honest...lacked the curry powder that makes most pineapple fried rice), Vietnamese diced beef (surprisingly nice buttery sauce and moist pieces of beef - perhaps the beef could have been chargrilled a bit more on the outside) and a Vietnamese chicken salad (nice flavour and fresh). If you're after good Asian food, this might be a good place...but if you're after authentic Vietnamese food, perhaps this restaurant might need to expand their menu range a bit more. The service was very good - prompt and friendly. Atmosphere wise - the pink light tree has to go!! Or at least try and sit against the wall well away from it.

"WE LOVE IT" We have dined here many times and by far the best Vietnamese in Perth with freshness & flavour to go with it. The chef has very unique recipes that differ. Good work to all at Vu's restaurant !!
Zac
Wonderful dinner experience. Vu's restaurant in South Perth have a lovely atmosphere with a unique high ceiling. Friendly and attentive service with great food i would highly recommend this place.
Chris
Excellent. This is a wonderful restaurant. The atmosphere is spectacular and the Vietnamese is excellent!<br/><br/>The waiters are always friendly and willing to help.<br/>Good Airconditioning systems and medium sized fish tanks
Andy
The main came out after 40 mins from<br/>The entree . The price here is just so expensive and the portion u get for the price is just way too small . Foods are ok to be honest , there are better Viet restaurants . Not good .
Shreejay Dass
Good food and exceptional service but the hefty price tag and small portions plus having to wait 45 minutes between courses is off putting. Exceptional service from the wait staff.
Simon
Very very slow service of main meals! Bring a packed lunch to tide you over and be expecting to wait 45 mins plus! Still waiting to try the food as I write this!

Love the freshness and flavours of the food - yep - wow - those flavours ... Healthy food you could enjoy everyday !!! Elegant waitresses with pleasant demeanor .... Very enjoyable!!

Worst Service Ever. Made a booking for 7pm on a Saturday night. Arrived and were seated promptly. After ten or so minutes we ordered our food. Half an hour later one of our two entrees arrived. Ten minutes later we reminded them about the second entree. A further fifteen minutes passed and we hunted someone down to ask for the entree again. At 8.30 we had still only been served one entree, so we paid and left. There were no apologies, just an attempt to make us pay for the whole order as they thought we had been served both courses! The restaurant was full but there were waiters walking around observing tables and doing little else. Pity as we had heard the food is good, but service is a major component of the makeup also. BTW entree received of grilled prawns was 5/10. We took our own wine and it was pretty nice.

Great Take-Away. I was craving pad thai so we ordered take-away pad thai, peanut beef & chicken balls (starters).<br/><br/>The chicken balls weren't that great, probably won't order them again, but the pad thai and peanut beef were really fantastic! Tonnes of sauce in the peanut beef, and there was a generous serving of beef. We were very happy & will be back.
Chriss
Very nice. This place is very nice for authentic Vietnamese cuising. Service is very effective and friendly. Food is reasonably priced and very flavoursome. Ambience is ok, but I would not recommend it for the first date.
Michael
This is our second visit in a month and both times the service was first class and better than you would expect. Food is more pricey than average Vietnamese but quality and ambience more than justifies. The setting is lovely just make sure your seat is not facing directly into a wall. Recommended.

A last minute decision on the way home from NOR and a quick Entertainment Book search was a blessing. A fantastic meal, quick, friendly service. Ginger Fish & Lemongrass Chicken ... Delightful ... We'll be back!

The best Vietnamese restaurant in Perth. We found Vu's VIetnamese restaurant from sundaytimes over the weekend and decided to give it a go. We are glad we did it and we will go back again. The restaurant is clean have a higher standard than most other Vietnamese restaurant that we have been to. Food is simply divine and the waitress dressed in beautiful traditional uniform were very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The chef's special Mangoe prawns dish is highly recommended. Overall we had a very pleasant evening and would recommend this restaurant.
AussieANDBrasileira
This is a restaurant to avoid. The food is somewhere between not bad and pretty good. However the manners of the staff - who do NOT seem to be your average helpful University student type, and ultimately the owner, possibly the rudest woman I have ever met, are appalling. I would not recommend this to anyone. Never, never again.
Matt
Excellent Restaurant. I must say this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant in Perth I have been to. I am from Sydney and was looking for something to eat and found this place while in Perth. I am a fussy eater and this place satisfied me 110% to my expectations. The food is quality and fresh and even simple dish like fried rice is not oily like some of the restaurant. <br/>The Prawn salad was to die for made with Fresh Tiger King Prawns not those frozen prawns.<br/>This place is a thumbs up. Glad i found a decent place to dine - in while in Perth and will be back next time when i am in town.

Never again!. This is definitely not typical Vietnamese food and just under $30 for 6 prawns in a so-called clay pot is highway robbery. On complaining that this was not a typical clay pot, the food was taken away and returned with the same 6 prawns swimming in some brown sludge. It tasted awful. Fellow diners were not satisfied with their dishes either. Tea at the end of the meal was served in a teapot with a broken spout - totally unhygienic.<br/>The manageress was just not interested in our complaints. However, in general the service was good and the staff friendly.

Superb atmosphere with exceptional food, staff and price. From the moment we walked into the large yet intimate restaurant we felt at ease. greeted by a welcoming staff we were led to a quiet table and allowed to peruse the menu. Staff did no hover but were aware when we wished to order and ensured that our water and selected wine were available. We selected Thai fish cakes and ceremony rice paper rolls as an entree which were truly sublime. Mains were pepper squid, yellow fish curry and sizzling ban curd. Each complimented the other and issue that there was not enough bean curd. Wine of choice as a 2009 pitchfork Chardonnay, complimented the meal. A finish with banana fritter and grand marnier plus steamed banana sticky rice, yum! Eat here, treat yourself! My partner reckons the fish tank is clean and well maintained with happy fish another plus!

Fantastic food. Vu's restaurant food is fantastic. Had the chef's special BBQ quail and was amazing. Also the Vietnamese raw beef salad at Vu's is outstanding. Would go back again.

Exceptional food. Vu's restaurant is my regular local spot and they never failed me. They are always consistent with keeping the quality food and service. Having decent quality meal is important to me that's why i keep going back to Vu's as they meet my expectations. You don't find the typical boring soups here it is more like fusion cuisine styles which i loved. It is always lovely to dine there with my husband or group of friends and able to chat relax and have a glass wine. One of my favourate dining spot in Perth.

Vietnamese restaurant which serves predominantly Chinese food. Standard quite good, but overall value average to poor. Typical of Perth! If you would like to try actual Vietnamese food may I suggest To to on Albany Hwy or Tra Vinh on Brisbane St.

Good quality food. Was very impressed with this restaurant. It is a stand out among other asian restaurant. From my own experience the food was brilliant and service was outstanding. The food is fine cusine style and love the lemongrass chicken and Hanoi Fried prawn is a must try. If you like a decent vietnamese asian cuisine this place is a thumb up.

A shame. Im a Viet and I would say nothing in there are vietnamese food. Food is a joke and prices are massive. Service was horrible the time we decided to try it out (the first also the last). Refund please!

Had some very disappointing satay sticks. They were very overcooked mainly because they were precooked & then reheated

Good Perth Hunting
Last Friday evening, dinner out with two colleagues lead me to Vu's Vietnamese in South Perth. Tucked away at the end of the shopping precinct at the quieter, more suburban end of Mill Point Road, this is an Asian gem. We arrived early, knowing that this was a place of such quality food and reputation, we wanted to ensure we had a table (I will return to this irony later). We were the first in the restaurant and the impeccably dressed staff greeted us with such beautiful smiles before seating us politely and ensuring that we had drinks opened and ready to drink. The menu has all of the usual Vietnamese treats and we quickly decided on some fresh spring rolls to share as we pondered over our main choices. The spring rolls were delicious - fresh, full of crisp leaves, mint and coriander and accompanied by a hoisin sauce that was just tangy enough to balance out the rice paper rolls. Our mains were equally impressive. A spicy chicken green curry and a more subtle beef satay, a side
