The coffee is as good as it can get. Amazing blend and single range on offer. The breakfast menu covers any dietary requirements with strict adherence to calorie demands. The presentation is 5 star. Not surprising given the world class background of the chefs. Friendly and attentive service. Years of fine dine experience brought to brunch... sets them apart from any brunch place that South Yarra and Richmond has to offer.

Coffee was perfect and the food was amazing. The Street Meat Burger was more than Instagram worthy and impressive, and Smoked Duck salad was PERFECT! Will be back regularly � The Cafe was warm and welcoming even on such an ugly rainy day today!

Went there for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious!! I'm vegan and wanted to order the porridge. The chef himself came out to tell me he's vegan himself and he can change everything I want so that it suits my diary. So nice and as I said it was great, also the coffee. Review: We were greeted with water with a lemon wedge which was a nice touch. Coffee was excellent. Food took a while to come, but was visually colourful and presented well.
We thought the food itself was alright. I thought the shakshuka was more reliant on tomato sauce - I couldn’t quite put a finger on what ingredients were missing (I suspect spices). The chicken quesadilla was standard and simple.
Even without zomatogold, the pricing was quite good - $18 for a shakshuka which includes chorizo (it’s becoming a trend that brunch places now charge extra for meat).
Summary - this place is ideal if you want a simple and uncomplicated brunch around south yarra station.

Can not give this cafe enough love, the staff are always super welcoming! With a wide range of options and weekly specials, you'll be spoilt for choice! The water is served with a freshly sliced orange - it's the simple things that make all the difference. The Butternut Pumpkin Fritters are my favourite, so full of flavour and presented beautifully. If you're in the mood for sweet, their pancakes are the perfect combination of fluffy and moreish!
Coffee's are poured beautifully, with the option of different milks to cater to everyone. Their freshly squeezed juices are also delicious!

They continue to revamp their menu and enhance the look of each dish regularly and are able to proudly deliver their food that complements the Modern Australian Food Scene. 🍒🍒 Featured on here: AVOCADO SMASH : on five seeds toast with Marinated Meredith Goats Cheese , Tomato Chilli, Coriander Salsa and Lemon. That Salsa had a mojo level of its own and was really the highlight of this meal.

We had visited Picnic cafe not long ago and here is how we found it!
Slow cooked pulled pork benedict - served with Asian slaw and rice wine vinegar hollandaise! The pulled pork was absolutely juicy and not overly stringy and the Asian slaw was a good accompaniment to it! The hollandaise was flavorful which went well with the pulled pork!
Shakshuka - baked eggs cooked in rich tomato sauce, beans, grilled vegetables and chorizo served on toast! I got to say the sauce was rich and thick as described and had a heartwarming taste which made me go back for more (see picture). You could taste each element inside the sauce which was a pleasant surprise as each flavor was not overpowering another.
Jaffa hotcakes - my fave for the day and here’s why! An upside down vanilla ice cream cone, orange infused caramelized berries, Nutella spread and Canadian maple syrup! You may think this was a sweet attack but it was not overly sweet and the hotcakes were super fluffy! Everything just melted in the mouth and the ice cream just added the extra kick!
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Picnic cafe and would love to visit again!
Gorgeous food with amazing presentation! The salmon grain salad we got was a special and was cooked to perfection. They also perfectly cater to vegans. AND their glassware is out of this world! Coffee was served in skull glasses and smoothies and juices in a ginormous lightbulb. Very insta-worthy.
This spot is such an underrated gem! Positioned so conveniently in South Yarra, I'm surprised I hadn't come across it sooner! I'm glad I have now.
I came here for a lunch with a friend, and enjoyed a couple of smoothies, the fritters, the granola/muesli as well as a little make-your-own dish full of avo, mushroom and spinach. I'm vegan, so first off I should note that this place caters super well! I didn't have to sacrifice on a single thing, from a tasty muesli to a delicious PB + Banana smoothie!
The staff are absolutely lovely here. You can tell they really care about their service, the quality of food they serve and about your experience too! Will definitely be back!

Wow wow wow!!! What a brunch spot!! Easy to get to via train or tram, a wonderful light and airy space has been created.
I was blown away but the creative dishes, I adored the Chilli Scramble - so much flavour.
The Butternut Pumpkin Fritters were amazing, I love the addition of the pepita seeds for added crunch.
The Hotcakes - OMG. So good! Fluffy, Hotcakes full of chocolate goodness and a beautiful syrup to break up the sweetness. The ice cream addition was perfect too!
The juices are massive and such good value! I can’t wait to return! Oh the coffee is impressive too!
3.5 Picnic is a cute neighbourhood cafe that brings with it awesome coffee and juices along with tasty breakfast and lunch options.
The more than generous portion sizes are bound to satisfy, and with jut a couple of tweaks here and there, they are destined to be come a locals favourite.
We were treated kindly and given iced water (it was a very hot day so appreciated this). The owner is so lovely, he had a chat with us while we waited for our food which was really nice. We ordered the Jaffa Hotcakes, the Eggs Benny and the Smashed avo and all these dishes were delightfully delicious! The hotcakes were a standout as you can see below, and we loved our latte served in a skull glass plus juice in a lightbulb! Such a trendy cafe!
Very nice cafe with delicious food and friendly staff! I love their calamari salad and pumpkin fritters! So yum! Definitely a great choice for catching up with friends or family.

Not a bad spot, but was let down by non-existent service. My friend and I nabbed a spot out the front, but no-one came to see us. It took 10 minutes before we went in, and I was assured it was table service and that someone would be out shortly. My shakshuka was excellent and extremely fresh, but my vegan friend was dismayed to find her toast was already buttered. We were there for almost an hour by the time we finished eating, which was fine as we were having a great catch up but not great in terms of efficiency. Would head back to try again.
Great brunch spot. Excellent service by friendly staff. Relaxed setting for an enjoyable meal and coffee. Although a mid end Cafe I honestly can't fault it. Great meals, fair prices, delicous smoothies. Much better than the 'trendy be seen' places around. I'm full now, not sure I need to eat for the rest of the day 😋 5 stars

☕ Flat white- extremely well made and very creatively served. Have a look at the photos below to see the cups.
🥕 Red energy juice- a bit too carrot-y but not too bad otherwise. Again, served well.
🍳 Curried eggs- the best kinda eggs I have had. This dish was oozing flavour! It smelt great, looked great and tasted great!
🍳 Shakshouka- this dish is my go to for brunch and I particularly loved the one at Picnic. Again, a really well presented and made dish that deserves your love.
🥞 Belgium Waffles- Really tasty and pretty. The element of Apple crumble went well with the waffles. Would recommend!
Overall, an extraordinary cafe that guarantees pretty and tasty food.

Picnic is lovely cafe located on Toorak Road serving various interesting dishes from traditional brekkie to fusion modernised style brunch. We were lucky enough to have been invited to try their food.
We had slow cooked pork benny, Shakshuka and tex mex breakfast. The pork benny was delicious, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. The shakshuka, which is another name for baked eggs. It came with chorizo and amazing bread on the side. The chilli bean on the mexican breakfast was also very tasty. Would recommend to give this place a try.
What a lovely brunch experience. The food was delicious (I highly recommend the shashuka) with good coffee (in cool skull mugs!) and staff were extremely friendly. We will be back!

So happy to have walked into this lovely cafe with my family today. The ambiance of the cafe is very soothing with super friendly staff who obviously love what they do. The coffees were great and I like the extra touch of citrus in our water glasses. All the foods were beautifully presented. I had The chief’s Thai chicken omelette and it was delicious, really gives off a spicy kick to the day. Will definitely come back again when I’m around this area next time.

Such a super cute cafe with a homely feel. There were a few different brekky items that you wouldn’t see on the standard cafe menus in the area. I went for the cauliflower fritters which were OTT flavour and very filling.
With so many cafes around Melbourne there’s not many that offer great coffee and food, it’s one or the other. Today was my second visit to Picnic and we were blown away again! The owners and staff are very friendly, efficient and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Food was fresh, delish, of high quality, arrived in a timely fashion and the coffee was fantastic! Hats off to you guys at Picnic 👏 👌
The chefs special chicken Thai omelette was really good and so was the shake. The balsamic vinaigrette was awesome and tangy. Had to complement the chef specially for that vinaigrette.
Vinaigrette is made by mixing an oil with something acidic such as vinegar or lemon juice. The mixture can be enhanced with salt, herbs and/or spices.

We were lucky enough to dine as guests at Picnic on Saturday and seek shelter from the 41 degree day in their delightful heavy duty air con. Located a hop skip and a jump away from South Yarra station, they offer a range of brunch options to suit everyone. We tried the flavoursome Thai chicken omelette which impressed and the granola which was made for a healthy start to the day. The coffee was very enjoyable but I was most in love with the adorable glasses they serve their fresh juices in. The ginger ninja was recommended and was a refreshing option. The ginger was quite subtle in the orange based concoction and was perfect for such a ridiculously hot day.
We also had the avocado smash with a side of smoked salmon which is the ultimate breakfast classic. Cute little touches such as the berry ice cubes in the water make this the sort of place you want to come back to. Owners Rahul and Varun who took over the reins at Picnic just over a year ago are also the loveliest people that like to change over their menu regularly to continue to delight their customers with new and exciting dishes. If you aren’t trying to be healthy (like me at present although for possibly only a very short time the way we’re going) they have some sensational looking naughty brunch options. Treat yourself to the hot cakes why don’t you?!
Yummy, lovely place for lunch. Love the baked eggs. The juice is a refreshing, but green strew on the pic was a bit sticky, maybe that is why they have another strew ready for u.
Now that the weather has taken a turn for the better, it’s definitely picnic season! While it’s not quite the same as grabbing a rug and laying it out on the grass, Picnic the South Yarra café is definitely not the worst place to spend a sunny day! We came here one Sunday for lunch and will share that experience with you today.

Juices: Liquid Gold; pineapple🍍, lemon🍋 and apple🍏. Cleansing Machine; spinach, mint🌿, lemon🍋, celery, apple🍏 and cucumber🥒!!! All the food was so delicious and the presentation is next level. Good (but not amazing) food, spacious and modern dining area as well as outdoor eating options. Decent selection of dishes on the menu, and delicious coffee. Fair prices and exceptionally friendly service. They just need to acquire that edge when it comes to the food, in order to compete in this suburb’s incredibly fierce cafe competition.
Amazingly this place was not packed to the rafters on a Sunday morning like most brunch spots on Toorak Rd. the interior was spacious, atmosphere was pleasant and the service courteous. The shakshuka was delicious as was the fritters, and the eggs poached perfectly. The strawberry milkshake and hot chocolate were also very good, and everything was very filling. Prices too were quite reasonable compared to other cafes we've been too, especially in this area. Highly recommend this place.

I was so excited to try Picnic café as I drive past it everyday and never get a chance to stop by and grab a bite to eat, but I am so glad I finally went down there because everything about this place is nothing short of amazing! The owners are so lovely and really know how to produce quality and visually pleasing food. The vibe is really relaxed and you feel as though there is no rush to leave.
The muesli is a super pretty and healthy dish that will keep you full until your next meal. It is packed with some amazing ingredients, all of which are healthy and make you feel energized and satisfied for the day. The oats have a really nice sweet flavour to them, which balances out the less sweet yogurt. The elements on top really add to the overall dish as they make it more substantial and tasty. This muesli is quite delicious and if you’re in the mood for something light but will fill you up, then this is the dish for you.
The fritters seemed like a great savoury dish to try as there is so many different elements in it that I’ve never tried together before. The overall flavour of it tasted like a vegie patty, and the chilli really stood out in this. The avocado was a great addition as it broke down the flavours and made the dish more substantial. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and added so much to the dish. This is a really good dish to try if you feel like something a little heavier.
The hotcakes are a real show stopper dish. Not only do they look amazing, but they taste incredible too! They are super dense so you will not go hungry after eating them! You can really taste orange blossom and almond praline, both of which add really nice flavours to the meal. The berries were so delicious and made the dish a little sweeter, whilst not overpowering the actual hotcake. The vanilla mascarpone was also a great addition as the hotcakes were very thick, so it made it easier to chew and not get bored of the hotcake.
Overall, I really enjoyed this café and will definitely be back to try some more incredible creations they have on their menu!

Rahul & Varun took over managent of this cute cafe in November and they are the sweetest guys you will ever meet. They have 14 years experience in the hospitality scene and its clear how much love they have for their latest venture.
The cafe is bursting with natural light inside and plenty of seats outside to enjoy the brisk morning air. They're also in the process of expanding the outside seating in time for summer 🌞 They have a great all day menu including a good selection for the kiddies, and a fantastic selection of jaffles and cakes to grab on the run. The gorgeous, baked in-house, gf/sugar free breakfast cookies are flying out the door! The menu consists of a mix of Indian flavours as well as the current Australian faves like 18hr pulled pork, traditional curry, smoked duck salad, smashed avo, muslie, hotcakes and pulled pork benny.
We couldn't go past the shakshuka - pimped up poached eggs nestled in a perfect tomato and capsicum sauce with cannellini beans and fried chirizo. The sourdough was perfectly toasted and just right to soak up all the delicious sauce. 😍
We were so happy to find the picnic muslie had the perfect amount of natural yogurt so no extra milk was required! They use gentle flavours of orange blossom and a generous serving of fresh fruits and seeds 👌
We also tried the Ginger Ninja juice a refreshing combination of orange ginger lemon and pineapple. These all work beautifully together and the ginger isn't overpowering.
We loved our experience here and totally recommend getting on down to try it for yourself

Kids are very well catered for with space for a pram, kids Golden Books with their menus, lovely kids meals (mmmm pancakes were so tasty!) and friendly, helpful staff (holding doors, helping with pram and chatting to littlies in a great manner).
Adults were equally well catered for with beautiful coffee, fresh squeezed juices and meals that were pretty enough to photograph, and tasted even better.
Cafe is light & bright and quite spacious.
Only thing missing as a child-friendly cafe is a baby change table of some kind, but due to space restrictions in the bathroom, I can completely understand not having one.
New management took over in November I believe (it's our first visit), but they're doing a wonderful job!

The food was great however I'm a bit annoyed at all of the extras that are around the food in the plate that weren't stated on the menu also, it took a while to get to us considering how there is only 3 other people in the cafe. The coffee was fantastic the sizes are perfect for the cost but I'm a bit confused as to why the spoons where so long. All in all I enjoy my experience

When I heard Picnic is being run by new management since couple of months, I decided to visit it again & 'eat' the changes myself. Went for lunch on a Monday after a meeting in the area & boy am I happy about my decision to eat here!

Ambience - The decor is minimalistic & cafe is spacious.
Staff - Staff & managers both were very attentive and courteous.
Order -
Ginger Ninja - 5/5 - I loved the combination, it wasn't too bitter or overloaded with Ginger as some fresh juices are. The chef knew what he was doing.
Pulled pork burger - 4.5/5 - Must try! Loved the flavors and the bun was soft as well. I am a Asian slaw lover so I could be biased but the pulled pork was slowly cooked & you can taste that. I cut half a point because there was coriander in it and I would have preferred to be made aware of that while taking the order.
Latte - 4/5 - Smooth flavours not too sweet, to end my heavy lunch (yawnnnn!) and loved the bio-cups. Thumbs up for that guys. The milk could have been more hot as I had asked the Barista to make.
Overall - A solid effort by new management. Definitely a cafe I would be visiting again soon to try other dishes off the menu. Maybe on a weekend brunch?
This cafe has wide large tables and chairs around in modern beautiful set up. Takeaway coffee cups have nice design. Coffee is mild to strong creamy texture with weak aroma. Beautiful hot chocolate has a touch of bitternss.
The service here was quick and really friendly. Our meals were equally as good - and the coffee was fantastic. The muesli and fruit was fresh and well balanced and the big breakfast was enough to fill my partner up (that's a hard task lol). He especially loved the addition of smashed avocado. We came here the other week on a rainy morning. The cafe was quiet but that was fine since we were able to get a seat pretty quickly. My hubby ordered a latte and I ordered a soy matcha latte. The soy matcha latte was actually one of the better ones I’ve had. It was nice and sweet but not overly sweet.
Service with a smile. The Big Breakfast was excellent. The waitress was attentive and genuinely asked for constructive criticism. What we ordered was too salty and they insisted we get another meal off the menu or get the meal free of charge. Not many places would do this and it is going above and beyond. The manager also went out of his way to make sure we were OK. We are definitely coming back.

The 18 hours slow cooked pork in a bun was super tasty! Will definitely come back here again just for that! My daughter also gives her thumbs-up for the smashed avocado on toast.

The chicken salad was absolutely delicious! Overall has a very nice relaxed, happy atmosphere with big windows to let all the sunshine in. The waiters were prompt with service however some of the tables were not clean and had crumbs on them upon entering to which the waiter wiped down.
This place gets a 3.5 for ambience. Casual, friendly, a bit quirky, plus live music on Saturday! Nice coffee too. Will be back to try the food soon.
Radical cafe, super staff, delicious meals and crisp coffee - perfect way to start a morning. Try the vegetarian lasagna if your in for a feed its malto bene!

The cafe has an urban organic interior with customers coming in and out at a moderate pace, not too fast for it to be crowded but not too slow for it to be empty, and I think that's the best kind of business anyone would want. The menu is limited but not the kind that makes you question if you really want to be here. It's more like a collaboration of the best kind of breakfast served all day, and burgers (Yes lunch is just burgers and a few wraps), so you're bound to find something that suits your taste!
All the food was fresh and satisfying. I highly enjoyed my balsamic chicken salad, fresh herbs, roasted red peppers, mixed greens and feta.
Great coffee, great vibe!. Spent a couple of hours working here today and loved the vibe. Coffee was great, awesome staff and great atmosphere. Will be here again soon!
Love it... Love this place..great food ..Good service..reasonable prices!! These guys know how to do it..a really nice relaxed environment but not so relaxed that the staff are standing around chatting (as I often find is the case and also find really frustrating). Has my vote.

This trendy café in Toorak has a great menu with fantastic and indie coffee! The food is amazing and I highly recommend! This café is good for if you want to go out for a nice brunch or breakfast and live close by!
