New name, decor and food but same Amazing!! staff and atmosphere as i have enjoyed here for the past 6 years now. Never had a bad meal and coffee always just as you like it. So lucky to live just upstairs from here.

Middle south east is your traditional dishes with a middle eastern twist! This place is so good for so many reasons! Firstly the portions are so generous. The raw organic protein smoothie was like a gigantic chalice I could fit my face in! It tasted so chocolatey and creamy and had seeds for you to sprinkle on top.
The sahtein salad was divine. Chicken that was grilled to perfection on a bed of hummus, avocado, greens and grains. Everything was plated up to perfection!
My friend loved the linguini pasta and said the seafood was cooked so well!
I will always return to MSE because it’s consistently amazing!

The latte was strong, creamy and great aroma.
It was very comfortable atmosphere. I enjoyed coffee and spent some quality time.

Service: we were welcomed with friendly smiles from the moment we stepped in. Wait times was near to zero and staff here are all polite and attentive. Plus from service here!
Drinks: long black was strong for me, mum loved it as she likes her coffee strong. Soy latte was nicely made, frothy with a good ratio of milk and coffee.
Food:
Had the eastern patties and garden of eden. Both patties of the dishes were nicely fried, not oily and very crispy! The inside was soft and packed full of chickpeas and sweet potato, loved it! Highlight of the eastern patties is the haloumi which was nicely seasoned, thick cut and grilled well. For the garden of eden, I loved the mushrooms, they were seasoned beautifully.
Overall loved the food here and it really lived up to the middle eastern flavors. Will be back to check their sweet cabinet next time as it looked really good!!

Middle South East is a large spacious cafe located along Chapel Street, South Yarra with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Visiting on a cool morning for breakfast we opted to sit inside.
We ordered the Homage to Teta and the Sahtein super food salad to eat. To drink we had the mango mambo raw organic smoothie and a chai latte.
If you’re looking for a healthy dish packed full of flavour than look no further than the Sahtein super food salad. My friend highly enjoyed this dish which features kale leaves with Dutch carrots, quinoa, buckini and almond crumble, chilli corn salsa, broccolini, sugar snap peas, avocado, hummus and a poached egg. It was tasty, colourful and had lots of texture.
I had the Homage to Teta and it was was delicious. Featuring cumin scrambled eggs on zaatar bread with beetroot labne, aromatic filled zucchini, mushroom, mujadara, medley tomatoes and hummus, the dish was a plate full of goodness. All the components of the dish worked well together making for a filling satisfying meal. I loved the beetroot labne and hummus which helped tie everything together.
In addition to the beautiful food I loved the mango mambo raw organic smoothie. Served in a wine glassing on a tray rather than your regular tumbler, it was rather chic.
Overall I had a wonderful experience at Middle South East at rate it 5 ⭐️ out of 5. If like myself, you love middle eastern food I highly recommend that you check them out. Thanks very much for having me.
Love the food here! The zucchini fritters were amazing, followed by a tasty soy chai. Perfect on a chilly Melbourne morning! Coffee is decent too and it’s in a prime location. Plenty of seating inside and out!

We were invited to Middle South East today almost two years since our original visit and isn’t it funny how you gravitate to the same things, hubs without realising it ordered the homage to teta again I also also ended up with something very similar. The presentation has been jazzed up a little though as you can see with beetroot labne brightening up the plates.
Our third dish today was the waffles and whilst they sounded like your standard waffles on the menu with some blueberry mascarpone these were actually exceptionally made and incredibly delicious. A really great waffle doesn’t need to be loaded up with lashings of Nutella and the like, some simple strawberries will suffice- yum! Highly recommend

I dined as a guest of Middle South East on Boxing Day and was delighted by their Mediterranean menu offering up an authentic twist to the usual brunch fare.
The cafe itself is housed in a stunning space with no expense or detail spared in the chic modern fit out. From the branding on the water bottles, to the cute coffee cups to the comfortable back rests on the seating to the gorgeous interiors- definitely very South Yarra luxe.
On this occasion we opted to try one of their classic offerings the vibrant avo on toast with a side of smoked salmon as well as one of their more traditional dishes the homage to Teta. One of the elements on this was a filled zucchini which was something very special. Utterly delicious and I love these little unique tweaks on the menu that gives this cafe a real point of differentiation.
The eggs on the avo were perfectly poached too. Washed down with a fresh juice and good coffee it was the perfect way to spend a public holiday
My favourite brunch place in South Yarra! Beautiful food in a nice environment and the staff are friendly and efficient. Recommend to anyone trying to get something different then just bacon and eggs for brekkie.

All in all very good food. I had the MiddleParma which was absolutely delicious with a twist of Middle Easter herbs, it was tasty. My partner had the Lamb Salata, it was prepared medium raw and tender. Minus points for a long wait at 2:30pm. It took about 30-35 for the food to appear.
Great coffee! First time trying the lamb bake (kibbeh) and really liked it. Little happy exotic surprise~

Middle South East is a large and open cafe with a lovely interior and very friendly staff.
My friend and I visited over the weekend and enjoyed our brunch and coffees very much. I was drawn to the porridge after seeing it on insta, the poached pear and rhubarb sounded so appealing when I saw it. This is exactly what I ordered and I was not disappointed, wow what a large serve too! I love rhubarb so this was really nice. My friend ordered the smashed avo which was a decent serve and my friend didn't have any complaints. We also shared the fruit and nut toast with jam and whipped honey ricotta, this was very yummy however I didn't see any fruits in the toast. I was expecting apricots or dates of some sort so I feel this was not as per the menu suggests, still delish but would be nice to see fruit there.
Our coffees were 10/10 and just so perfect. I would happily recommend this cafe. Thank you for the invite we had a great time!

We where invited to Middle South East for lunch today. Located at the Yarra end of Chapel this venue had plenty of warm heaters outside so we sat out and enjoyed the winter sunlight. At 1pm there was a whole lot more to choose from as the breakfast and lunch menus overlapped and we chose off the breakfast and lunch menu.
We started with a super hot latte (hooray) and a frothy, creamy, sweet and cinnamon topped chai.
I ordered the ‘Classic’ poached eggs on toast but there was nothing classically boring about these poachies. This vibrant breakfast dish came with lime crushed avo, sublime Persian feta, beetroot labne, dukkah and pomegranates and the most incredible colored egg yolks I’ve seen.
The ‘Ohmy’ salad celebrated all the middle eastern flavours from the delicious spiced chicken to sweet roasted pumpkin and charred cauliflower. All of these ingredients combined with ancient grains, seeds, kale and a secret tahini dressing made for a lovely crunchy combo with an incredible meld of textures and flavours that truly made this salad extraordinary. This was our favourite dish today.
For dessert we choose the waffles for our sugar hit, these babies reminded me of a waffle/donut hybrid and came with crunchy almond praline, creamy mascarpone, fairy-floss and maple syrup. I thought the clever inclusion on this dish was the tarty kiwi fruit, strawberries and blueberries that cut through the sweetness.
A great menu and fast friendly service. Well recommended. Thanks for having us in.

What a stunning and unique cafe in the heart of South Yarra. Middle South East does modern Australian food with a Middle Eastern Twist. I was immediately greeted with a warm, welcoming environment. This is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted as it often is due to the passion and commitment of the amazing staff. In addition to this, we were able to make use of the outdoor seating due to the fabulous outdoor heaters. A cafe that is adaptable for all seasons in Melbourne, immediately gets a gold star in my books.
For lunch I chose to go for a staple dish. The “Sahtein’ Super Food Salad’ . This comes with kale leaves, ditched carrots, quinoa grains, buckini & almond crumble, chilli corn salsa, broccolini, sugar snap peas, avocado, hummus & poached egg. It was fresh, crunchy, and packed full of flavour. I especially loved both the fresh, sweet sugar snap peas and the creamy hummus that complemented each other divinely.
My first brunch partner went for the ‘Eastern Patties’ which consisted of sweet potato and chickpea patties, bacon, grilled halloumi cheese, araak tomato with poached eggs and herb zhug sauce. He was pleasantly surprised that something that looked so simple could pack so much flavour. The patties were a highlight and were extremely flavourful.
My other friend went for the ‘OHMY’ salad. How could you pass it up with a name like that. It was a combination of Middle spiced chicken, roasted pumpkin and cauliflower, with ancient grains and seeds, pickled carrot and cucumber, tossed in a secret tahini dressing. Just like the super food salad, it was fresh and complex in its flavours. It definitely left us walking away satisfied and wanting to come back to try more.
Drinking a long black, I loved the smooth texture. While one of the others ordered the ‘Thirst quencher’ juice (watermelon, lemon, orange). A refreshing way to wash down the delicious food.
I don’t think I can really fault this experience at Middle South East. Lovely staff, amazing food and an overall stunning experience. It is definitely on my list to return to.

Visiting Middle South East is such a treat, as not only is this cafe gorgeous, but the food is next level amazing. With a Middle Eastern slant, the menu is totally drool worthy. On busy Chapel Street, this cafe has a huge, open space with a minimal, light wood and navy decor. Simple elegance at it's best.
Greeted by lovely staff, we chose to sit near one of the huge windows which allowed us to enjoy the winter sunshine. We started with exceptional coffee, a fresh juice, and the most amazing smoothie. Served with it's own little plate of seeds and coconut, the smoothie was delicious and a meal within itself.
We enjoyed the house speciality of Kibbeh, which is a baked lamb dish. Topped with avo, tomato, poached eggs and beetroot hommus; this was an amazing dish. The lamb was tender and juicy, with plenty of flavour and seasoning, and it was presented beautifully.
We also had the bircher muesli and the porridge. The muesli was so vibrant and flavourful, topped with all sorts of healthy goodies and granola; and the porridge was the perfect combination with poached pear, rhubarb and pistachio. Both were fabulous, and it's hard to believe that something so tasty could be so delicious.
With a relaxed atmosphere and cool vibe, Middle South East is one of those cafes that you constantly return to. With it's combination of fabulous service, friendly and warm staff and amazing Middle Eastern flavours; this venue is definitely high class.

I’ve been here twice but I ordered the same dish for the two visits. My fav dish is the seafood linguini and I think the flavour of the latter visit was even better than the first one. Coffee is pretty ok .

We had a wonderful dining experience at Middle South East! The team made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in. I love décor and colour scheme!
We decided to sit outside, and even though it's Winter, the massive heaters kept us warm.
I tried a delicious soy flat white (latte art on point). The REAL reason I came to Middle South East was to try the GARDEN OF EDEN. This dish was such a unique vegan option, with stuffed zucchini, hummus, mushrooms, veggie patties, avocado, lentils and veg. Super satisfying and delicious!
We also HAD to try the massive smoothies, which were served in epic fish bowl glasses. We got the POPEYE'S GREEN and the CACAO SHOCK! Both tasty and filling - almost a meal in themselves haha.
Great food, service and atmosphere, would def go back again!

The sahtein is a little dry as a salad, so there needs to be a good strong armed stir into the hummus that edges the bowl for a little bit more flavour.
Halloumi was an excellent addition because they were 3 solid pieces, and gave a nice palate break!
The chips were really fun. They're clearly cut potatoes, and the rosemary salt garlic combo added an amazing depth and flavour. The potato chips were unfortunately not triple fried or anything, but they're crunchy enough to sate my fried chip craving.
Soy chai latte was delicious. Definitely one of the better ones I've had in Melbourne yet!
Service was really nice and food came out fast. They were incredibly attentive, and we got asked if we were ready to order within 2 minutes of each other haha. Massive kudos to the staff at Middle South East!
Quantity was also unreal because I was incredibly full after this whole meal.

When you have dogs in tow, you have to brave the cold outdoors and luckily for us, Middle South East has the perfect remedy for that. Step 1, request that they turn on the heating outside. Step 2, order a bowl of porridge and soup. Step 3, dig in and soon you will feel warm and toasty all over.
The soup of the day was potato and leek, and we thought it was a bit watery at the start, tasty nonetheless but not as satisfying as we would like. Turns out it all the good stuff were down at the bottom. We were greeted with rich creamy texture, and piquant flavours halfway through the soup. If only we thought of stirring it.
I have always found it hard to finish a whole bowl of porridge as they are deceivingly filing, and the rhubarb porridge was no different. A hearty and comforting dish, with a delicious combination of sweet, tart and nutty flavours.
Our coffees were commendable, and the service here was very attentive. We were the only ones sitting outside and we were constantly checked up on by the staffs.

We had the Kibbeh and the middle south eggs and they seemed to be the signature dishes.
We were all very pleased with the food. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy. The place looks beautiful and spacious. And we also tried some of their Baclavas for desert which were amazingly fresh and buttery!
Seafood linguine was just sooooo gooooood. Another fav pasta place! Packed with prawn, squid and juicy scallops, the pasta was buttery with a pinch of spice/herbs.
The barramundi was crispy and complemented the linguine. They provided us a wasabi avocado sauce, I personally do not like wasabi but this one wasn’t overpowering at all. The vegetable sides were aromatic with garlic.
I’d been eyeing off Middle South East for a while, as I’m such a fan of fusion cuisine, from baked eggs to zaatar covered super foods salads! Feasted with my cute girl and practiced those action shots she’s such a master at!

We couldn’t go past ordering an array of yummy meals so we could enjoy the the best of sweet and savory. .
I ordered the ‘Sahtein’ Super food Salad with chicken, loaded with all the nutrients of fresh greens and good fats like avocado I knew this would keep me sustained for the day!
Washing it down with A refreshing watermelon and lime juice to hit the those vitamin C’s outside in the vitamin D
You can’t go wrong ordering the “classic” crushed avocado on toast with a side of salmon - always a winning meal choice with zero regrets
And to top it off, we indulged in ordering the phenomenal “Waffles” and the “Mars Bar smoothie” because A. Yolo and B. They both looked like willy workers chocolate factory in a glass and on a plate! .
The sun was beaming down and the atmosphere was pumping! 💯 can’t wait to go back!!!

We ordered their ‘Barry Allen’ blueberry organic superfood smoothie, middle south eggs, super food salad with smoked salmon and their lamb salad.
My favourite dish was definitely the middle south eggs, their middle eastern tomato sauce was flavourful and nice to dip the zataar bread into.
In case you’re worried about finding parking, especially on the weekend, there’s complimentary 2 hour parking in the building as long as you purchase something at Woolies or Big W. :)

I always love some Middle Eastern-inspired brunch with a modern Australian food twist. I ordered a flat white to start ☕️ It was very weak, tasted like a cup of warm milk with a tiny hint of coffee. Disappointed😕

Their food, however, was exceptional!!💯 We had the LAMB SALATA ($20) and OHMY ($21) they were absolutely amazing and delicious. The grilled lamb loin was tender and juicy, complemented perfectly with fresh pickled veg, quinoa grains, heirloom tomato, beetroot, Persian feta and pomegranate. The middle spiced chicken with roasted pumpkin and cauliflower was moist and well-seasoned.
Such a satisfying, healthy meal 🥗💚.

The interior is modern, not enough natural light coming through tho. The service was ok, they could perhaps make it a little more upbeat. Overall, impressive food with generous portion, coffee and service could use some improvement.
Middle South East served Middle Eastern-influenced brunch meals in the heart of South Yarra. We ordered the Waffles and Moddle South Eggs, and both were absolutely delicious and somewhat unique; the waffles came with crispy mini baklava and the sausage came with zataar bread. Damnnnn, the food here was so good. We had the delicious lamb kibbeh (lamb bake with hummus, labne, poached eggs and avocado) really tasty and super filling. And the lamb salata (grilled lamb loin, veg, quinoa, feta and pomegranate) which was super healthy and the meat was so tender 👌
Passion fruit smoothie was also refreshing and a weekend cheat 'side' meal of sweet potato chips that hit the spot 😋

The moment you go out for brunch but actually feel like lunch😆. These were one of those days! Thankfully Middle South East has a lit AF lunch menu🔥, you’re looking at the perfectly seared Barramundi fillet with a glorious wasabi avocado mousse🐟. Swipe to see the tastiest special of the day which I no longer remember the name of, but that doesn’t matter cos I only remember how damn good that chicken and mushroom sauce was 🍄 !
Middle South East is a large establishment at the heart of south Yarra. Despite the large pedestrian traffic, the place is busy and yet remain relatively quiet. Service is good, although it lack warmth. Great middle eastern inspired options for lunch and breakfast. The food we ordered was really great. Poached eggs were done to perfection, the hummus was packed with flavour, the tomatoes fresh and juicy. Worth trying once or twice if you are in the area. It did not score higher just because it is a very commercial setting, the focus is on pumping as many customers as they can in and out quickly, not a place to come and enjoy a culinary experience.
Friendly people, and their food is just really yummy! I have tried a few, fish for one, smashed avo, seafood linguine and the lamb..am already ready to come back for more! Oh and their juice and smoothies are delicious too!

We were exploring the suburban area of South Yarra and stumbled across a fancy looking cafe which we decided to try!
Waffles - as usual my sweet tooth did the ordering and I went for the waffles! Served with blueberry mousse, almond praline, mascarpone, fresh berries and maple syrup, this was quite a stunning dish for me! Thought simple looking, the flavors were carefully thought out with the blueberry mousse being the highlight of my dish! The waffles were soft and crispy with the flavors not overpowering each other and the blueberry mousse being a yummy spread!
Middle south eggs - similar to baked eggs served with middle eastern sauce, sujok sausages, zataar bread and poached eggs, this was a winner in my eyes! 🤩 the bread was so fluffy and soft and tasted so good when dipped into the eggs! The flavors were pretty powerful especially with the middle eastern sauce which gave it a slightly spicy kick hence making it my favorite of the day!
Eastern patties - sweet potato and chickpea patties, bacon, grilled haloumi, tomato, poached eggs and herb Zough sauce! Wow what a combination! The patties were pretty sweet and crispy and the haloumi was such a great addition! The interesting bit about this dish was the sauce which in my opinion was a little herby but added flavor to it!

Middle South East is a cafe in South Yarra connected to a shopping centre (that also means you need to go for a walk to use the centre's toliet..)
The interior is quite appealing with the use of copper as the main colour scheme of the cafe.
We ordered 2 of the Raw Superfood smoothies which comes with a small side of granola. I tried the Popeye smoothie (green smoothie) which had a subtle flavour and in itself was quite filling. I therefore opted for the pulled pork toasted sandwhich which also came with a side of salad. The salad was well dressed and fresh going quite well with the sandwich. The pulled pork was generous and also good flavour, reminiscent of pork banh mi.
My friends order menu items; Fritters and Benedict. The food here was also quite nice. Standard brunch flavours therefore not bad but nothing particularly outstanding.
I would however would have liked some more breakfast options. I felt that the menu lacked some variety making it a bit difficult to choose what I wanted as nothing in particular caught my interested. Especially considering there is a bout 8ish menu items of which 3 are toast with condiments, fruit toast and eggs your way, leaving you with only 5 other options.
I dont know about you, but when I go out for brunch, I generally want to get something that I can't whip up at home for a lot cheaper as well.
The service here was above and beyond. So polite and attentive. They continually made sure they checked on us to see if everything was okay.
We didn't get coffee here so I would like to pop in again next time to try their coffees.

Serving up middle eastern food with a modern brunch twist, middle south east is authentic and tasty! Known for their monster shakes, they are called monster shake for a reason! We had the Nutella and Oreo flavoured one with so many other goodies; this is a sweet tooth’s dream! The baked eggs were definitely a favourite. We really enjoyed the mango smoothie too!
Love love love this place. This is my go to spot for food or coffee. Everyone who works there are super friendly which makes you want to come back every single time. Would definitely recommend:

I really like the interior and atmosphere of that place, although it was too cold (temperature wise) for my taste. The corn fritters were really yummy, but the almond croissant a disappointment. Unfortunately, the coffee was also nothing special. The waitresses were very friendly though which still gives it a mark of 4.
One of our favourite cafes in South Yarra! The service was up there with the best we have ever had! All staff were super friendly, enjoyed being at work and took pride in the way they conducted themselves. The food was also very yummy :) The highlight had to be the Nutella Oreo Monster Shake which was huge!!!!!
A vibrant restaurant with not only brunch, but also a separate lunch and dinner menu, Middle South East is along a popular stretch of Chapel Street with the vibe to merit all sorts of occasions. Their dishes range from classic brunches, to those with a Middle Eastern, spicy twist. A special feature would definitely have been their amazing smoothies – fresh with the unique addition of dried nuts, or crunchy goji berries on the side were delicious!
Eating at Middle South East is an enjoyable experience. It attracts a mixed range of customers, looks like a restaurant, but feels like a cafe. Service was good – if anything a little too attentive – but we were well looked after throughout our visit. The light wood and huge windows make it a bright and beautiful space, the rustic red and orange undertones help link this eatery to its Middle Eastern inspiration.

We went here on a beautiful Saturday morning and were greeted by a lovely waitress who then sat us down at outdoor table. We started with one of their new drinks-the mango mambo and my friend got a refreshing Mint to be. They were so good!
We ordered a special menu , pan fried Tasmanian salmon fillet, the sauce was really nice went well together with the salmon. My friend got the lamb salata and she said it was phenomenon. The lamb was very juicy and the salad was just a perfect touch to the dish
The cafe’s ambiance is really chillax! Especially on sunny day, you can sit outside at their spacious outdoor area to enjoy the sun and the amazing food.
Will definitely come back !
Coming from a middle eastern background we were expecting the food here to be perfect and it was! The Kibbeh dish felt like we were eating at home. The Homage to Teta was absolutely delicious especially the stuffed zucchini. The staff here made us a combination of their freak shakes and it was amazing. To make us feel better we also had a superfood smoothie. What a great menu!
Sunday brunch was surprisingly quiet at middle south east, we got a table as soon as we arrived and were served super quickly.
It was a beautiful morning, so the outdoor seating was perfect and provided brilliant people watching.
We ordered the eastern patties and the Benedict which were both amazing - well balanced flavours and great portion sizes

Located in the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street, we found Middle South East. The newly opened place café located on the corner of Malcom street and the iconic chapel street were friendly and welcoming. We were seated outside and once the weather turned bad, staff prompted assisted us to move a different table. Great hospitality!
Their menu had a great selection of different meals that catered to all different cravings. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options – catering to any occasion or time of day! We highly enjoyed their fish for one dish which was a zatar baby whole whing, rockling fillet dressed in tahini. Also their porter house steak that was dazzled in gravy with a side of crispy chips and freshly made salad.
Their smoothie selection was definitely a highlight from us from their freshly squeezed juices. Their juices were refreshing and tasted delicious. We also ordered their super smoothies: Poeye’s Goes Green and Mango Mumba. They arrived in presentation! Also tasted amazing.
Overall, we experienced great hospitality from staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and definitely enjoyed their freshly squeezed juices and super smoothies. A great place to check out after a long day of shopping and entertainment.

I was lucky enough to dine as a guest of Middle South East on Boxing Day and was delighted by their Mediterranean menu offering up an authentic twist to the usual brunch fare. The cafe itself is housed in a stunning space with no expense or detail spared in the chic modern fit out. From the branding on the water bottles, to the cute coffee cups to the comfortable back rests on the seating to the gorgeous interiors- definitely very South Yarra luxe.
On this occasion we opted to try one of their classic offerings the vibrant avo on toast with a side of smoked salmon as well as one of their more traditional dishes the homage to Teta. One of the elements on this was a filled zucchini which was something very special. Utterly delicious and I love these little unique tweaks on the menu that gives this cafe a real point of differentiation. The eggs on the avo were perfectly poached too. Washed down with a fresh juice and good coffee it was the perfect way to spend a public holiday

Friendly staff and management very welcoming
Having recently rebranded, Middle South East is a welcome change and addition to the residential top-end of Chapel Street. The menu is extensive and affordable, and with subtle Mediterranean twists thrown in here and there, we found the flavours excitable and the meals satisfying.
Coupled with plenty of space and natural light, Middle South East is destined to become the default eatery for the locals of South Yarra.
After a big reno and menu change this has become the place to eat lunch up the top end of chapel st! The food is really delicious and the staff and owners are always friendly.
So happy they've changed this place over from the old and daggy to a super chic,trendy and most of all luxe place to have a meal and coffee. The best thing ever now is the lack of smokers - hallelujah to the government stamping this out as this place always had a great spot but was covered in old smokers.
We had a few coffees which were super strong and my little one had a kids burger which NO JOKE was the best looking burger I've seen in the area. It was a huge real meat burger and fresh as could be. If that's a kids burger... the adult version must be incredible!!
Been coming here for years for exceptional coffee and croissants. Never really dined in but the boys have done an extraordinary job on the refurb: it's authentic and inviting with bubbly staff and such delicious food. Poached eggs were exceptional and I can't wait to try some of the traditional fare! Well done guys :-)
The BEST coffee in South Yarra, really friendly staff, always great service, fab food, 10/10! My favourite local, only suggestion is a loyalty card for coffee :-)

Loved the fresh avocado with a generous serving enough for both pieces of toast. Dish just needed something more as it was basic. Needed some freshness from a fruit or acidity. The staff were so friendly and so lovely to sit outside and have space between tables. Loved the overall atmosphere.
This place is on what I call the beginning of Chapel Street. Its cafe that clearly stands out with the use of colours. Its fancy and the staff are on top of it. Well made and delivered coffee paired with some well thought out Middle Eastern Dishes... Everything was well cooked and presented just beuatifully. Absolutely highly recommend for those who like middle eastern

4/3 managed to get in and have one of their Mars Monster shakes! Holy hell it was awesome! Their meal sizes seem to have increased too, awesome value for money and so much flavour :)
With the building of two new apartment blocks and two just opened, it's about time the north end of Chapel Street got some good eating going on. Hello Sam, A25 and Two Wrongs have been welcome additions over the last couple of years and things are only getting better. Middle South East joins SMAK and Stepping Stone as the new kid on the block as far as breakfast goes.
With a vast menu it's hard not to find something you'll like here. Waffles for those up for something sweet and an array of slow cooked meats to have with your formerly boring eggs benny. For a reasonably large venue, the service is still that of a smaller cafe, but with all the evening style trimmings. Plenty of take away options for breakfast and lunch too, including their healthy muffin that I swear took 2kgs off my ass as I ate it - such was the density of health in the thing.
As much as I'm loving their brekky items, I spied a golden daytime themed dessert looking sensation that i'll be making my way back in for in the near future. If you're in the South Yarra, hood, get around it.
Came with a group of friends for brunch on a Sunday morning - the decor is modern but warm, the staff are lovely, but most importantly the food is AMAZING. The food is modern Middle Eastern, which is surprisingly hard to find in Melbourne, and which is a tasty twist for brunch. I had the signature Auvergne, which had been slow roster for hours. with spiced minced lamb with a side of grilled lamb fillet, with a moreish salad to freshen everything up. Around the table dishes looked equally delish. Highly recommend and from the number of people there, looks like word is starting to get out.

Middle South East is a new cafe, restaurant and bar all in one. Modern Australian dishes with Middle-Eastern flavours can be enjoyed in the newly renovated space designed by Biasol. There are plenty of heated and comfy-looking seats outside too, which are set to be enjoyed during the warmer months.

Tried out newbie on Chaple street for Saturday lunch. I had Lamb Selata ( lamb with salad) sounds simple but delicious and soup of the day I had creamy mushroom probably was my favourite dish! The venue is huge and comfy and of course service was lovely 😊 another items that i would recommend would be their shakes and juices, it does look pretty and taste good 👍🏻👍🏻 However, chicken parmigiana was a little bit dry but not too bad because it came with chips which was delicious 😊
Excellent take on Middle Eastern brunch. Za'atar eggs with feta were a nice twist on the standard cafe fare. Unobtrusive staff and I really liked the new fit out - warm and comfortable, but a bit of a modern update. Would go again.
Went here for breakfast on a Sunday. Great experience. This place has been newly renovated and the decor and branding is really cool. I had the sahtein sahtein (pictured). Was great. Served in a nice ceramic bowl to complete the experience. Staff friendly. Coffee 👌.

Organised brunch here with a group of friends this morning and was really impressed. The venue is very spacious and sleek and the menu is huge. I ordered the waffles with berries, Persian fairy floss, macadamia praline and maple syrup. The waffles were slightly chewy and had a hint of vanilla which was nice. I also liked the accompaniments which balanced out the sweetness. Will definitely be back to test out the rest of the menu.
I'm so impressed with the new interior revamp of this place. The new menu is great (I had the Homage to Teta for breakfast, and I'm hooked).
The owners really put their heart and soul into this place and I love that's starting to show up with dishes from their childhood too. Must try.
@allday loved the pickles (despite not normally liking pickles!) - they're actually stuffed with tasty rice almost like a dolma. Yum.

My partner and I went to this place for brunch on a Monday less than a week ago and unfortunately we had an unpleasant experience due to one of their waiter's unprofessional behaviour. We wrote a review regarding that (as we always do about our good/ bad dining experiences). The gentleman named Mais offered us to contact him and discuss the matter. We were invited to visit the place again for a second chance to see what Mais and his team claim as their usual outstanding service, which we didn't experience on our first visit. I'm confident to say that our initial experience was just a coincidence and believe me, their food, service and hospitality is beyond 5 star. I highly recommend this place as they're one of our local restaurants in South Yarra and we always believe in supporting local businesses. At the end, I would also like to thank Michael, the gentleman who served us today (besides Mais), for his friendly and professional attitude.
Middle South East served Middle Eastern-influenced brunch meals in the heart of South Yarra. We ordered the Waffles and Moddle South Eggs, and both were absolutely delicious and somewhat unique; the waffles came with crispy mini baklava and the sausage came with zataar bread. The ambiance was very cozy, the service was prompt. Middle South East was another great brunch option in Melbourne.
