Review Dilly Daly - South Yarra

We headed here for Bottomless brunch and they have a new menu with inspiration from the chef of North American flavours! They have so many great options and also it’s great to see tasty vegan options! Definitely worth checking out! Recommend the Green Tomato Arepas!

The place is lovely and spacious. The chef is Venezuelan, hence there are a few South American dishes on the menu. The food is well presented. We had the Venezuelan plantain which was fabulous! Full of flavour. The potatoe rosti was a little hard but the flavours were there, just was hard to eat. The breakfast burger was nice overall but I wish the chef concentrated in one type of flavour rather than throwing all of it in, it had too many ingredients to appreciate one in particular. The tres leche cake was very delicious! The way they bring the tea is pleasantly presented. Overall is good with room for improvement.

This was hands down the best brunch I’ve ever had. That’s a big call but it’s absolutely the truth. I’m never really doing bottomless brunches but I thought what the heck let’s do one as the in laws had the children and it was a Sunday and it’s rare to have time. So we did bottomless brunch here and wow oh wow. Firstly the service is absolutely brilliant. All staff and the owners are a total delight. Secondly the drinks are delicious. The peach Bellini I’ll come in for again just to have that. Such great value at just over $60 each. The food... was outstanding. The crumpets and maple bacon and coffee cream was delish / I took off the eggs as I’m not an eggy fan and it was so good. The partner had the potato rosti stack and it was that good we paid for another one so I could have it as well / that potato was crunchy, the bacon was cooked properly with a nice sweet flavour and crunch and a generous portion of avocado. It was so good. Anyway I’ll be back for sure as I’m under a minute away and for that price and quality it’s the only place I would consider going locally for a brunch!
Hello. imnikki
Head down here and treat yourself to their bottomless brunch, paired with delicious Latin American-inspired brunch dishes. Choose from DD Spicy Margarita, Frozen Pina Colada, Strawberry Sour, and much much more from their extensive cocktail list. Gorgeous and tasty, a boozy way to kick start your meal! Food-wise, you'll be spoilt for choice too! Think Huevos Rancheros on Baked Beans, Green Champ Arepas, Venezuelan Patacons, Cheesy Magical Mushrooms, and sweet treats such as the DD Mocha Hotcakes and Tres Leches Milk Cake. The savouries exhibit bold and punchy flavours, and staying in tune with their Latin American heritage, you'll discover bright and tangy undertones in most dishes. For sweet tooth, you must try the Tres Leches, incredibly soft and not overly sweet, and oozing a subtle and creamy milky flavour from the 3 different type of milks used. I suggest that you keep this dish to yourself!

@dillydalymelbourne was the best place to forge an excellent new foodie friendship with @alwaysbottomless ! 🥂 The team were such a big part of why this place is pumping every weekend!! They made sure we were well looked after and kept the drinks flowing! They had great variety of cocktail options - classics like the espresso martini and the peach bellinis are too tough to pass up! Whether you’re a sweet tooth or a savoury lover there’s an option for you - but the hangover choice was the chorizo caliente! 🌶🌭 A seriously epic/fancy hot dog with bacon cheesy sauce drizzled on top... For $60 all you can drink for 2 hours and a meal. Gather your friends and get ready for the ultimate weekend sesh!

4.0 Very Good

Arrived this chic cafe for a weekday brunch, it’s in the middle of a concrete jungle but once you find the pink fencing you know you’re at the right place.

My latte was rich and strong with a light bitterness. Their drinks menu is pretty extensive for a cafe with cocktails, smoothies, milkshakes and specialty lattes.

For food I tried their benny’s croissant with pulled pork cooked three ways, for the most part it was succulent along with the perfectly poached eggs and housemade hollandaise. What really made the dish was the buttery croissant which was lightly toasted and remained flaky. Apparently sourced locally around the corner.

A couple more other dishes that I’m keen to try but it was a solid first visit.
Food Dine Roll
One of the best bottomless brunch drink menu in Melbourne for sure, at $60 per head.

Sangria, peach Bellini, shiraz, espresso martini - you name it!

Food was, however kinda so so to me. I did had a bite of my friends sandwich and it was pretty great. But I do think personally, it's better to have more carb options especially for people drinking.

The space is beautiful. Seems like a favorite of a lot of girls.

Beautiful cafe with a great ambiance. Love the food! Highly recommended!

It’s worth to order the hotcakes!! I like it soooo much.

If you enjoy a brunch cafes with a chilled vibe and a beautiful interior this place is for you.

My husband had the green risotto and fluffy hotcakes with Nutella. The green risotto was part of the tapas menu which has some great options for sharing. My husband's favourite was the green risotto which came with edamame. Not too forget the mouthwatering hot cakes which comes with a Nutella syringe, creamy mascapone, fruity coulis, my husband also at the peanut butter smoothie which was perfectly sweetened.

I had the eat your greens breaky bowl with lemon pepper chicken thighs, the braised greens were lightly seasoned which went well with the avocado and fresh lemon yoghurt dressing.

I also had the black king tiger and calamari tempura the king prawns were so tender as was the calamari I loved the touch of tostadas to also dip into the tarragon aioli.

Everything looked amazing and tasted beautiful. I can't wait to go back. I also want to thank Melissa for making us feel so welcome with her friendly service, thanks again for having us #brunchcafe #melbournebrunch Marnie

Dilly Daly is ideally located off chapel street in south Yarra. It’s a lovely cafe with beautiful interiors and incredible staff! Our waitress was incredible, she knew plenty about the menu was always checking in on us and honestly made the experience!
The options on the menu meant there was something for everyone!
I ordered an acai smoothie, which was refreshing and delicious (also very filling). I also ordered smashed avocado on gluten free toast. This dish was good but nothing special, I did however like the fresh edition of mint and lemon in the mix!
All in all it’s a lovely cafe with really friendly staff!

Great coffee and service but holy moly the Rosti dish is amazing. I don’t know why more places aren’t doing this. Bacon, avo & a poached egg in a rosti burger, F&@$ it’s fantastic
EatPicLove
Dilly Daly is a lovely venue hidden in a nook in south Yarra. With amazing and knowledgeable staff, they make the whole brunch experience absolutely incredible, not to mention a menu to die for plus who doesn’t love a boozy brunch in the heart of south Yarra

Loved eating at Dilly Daly - great atmosphere, vibes and service. Absolutely enjoyed the brunch dishes here and we also did the bottomless sharing menu with amazing tapas. Drinks wise, a cafe with great cocktails is a win for me, my favourite has to be the Bloody Mary and cocktail jug.

I got to love the lovely atmosphere of this cafe!! I also love how they also serve cocktails and drinks that goes so well with the delicious food!!! One of the dishes that I had that was the highlight was the baked eggs!!! It was so good that it got me craving til this day!!!

The service is fabulous here and the space is stunning. I love the wall garden and there is loads of natural light.

Highly recommend the 'Eat your greens breaky bowl'. The braised greens are so delicious.

The 'Ah-Coconuts & Hemp-nola' is delish. I don't normally order granola when ut for breakfast but this one has changed my mind about that.

The Smashed Avocado is a classic and I loved the Dilly Dally version. Cannot go wrong with this.

Overall I loved this cafe and I'll be coming back again soon.

One of the most OVER PRICED cafes in town! It doesn’t taste any good for the price they charge!

They even served my order incorrectly with a NON GLUTEN FREE dish when I specifically asked for Gluten Free option. 2 little dishes for breakfast and it costs $46!!

Not worth it and would never recommend this place!

I’ve been to dily daly twice and have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences both times! The staff including Mel the manager are extremely kind and attentive and always make sure you are looked after and are having the best experience possible! As for the food, it is always on point. I was lucky enough to be able to try their new menu which is exciting and vibrant just in time for the hotter months!
These guys also do the most epic bottomless brunch, it’s an experience that everyone needs to have at least once with their best mates! The most perfect little place located in the heart of south Yarra, it’s a must!
Jessica Sargeant (Unbeleafablefood)
Love this gorgeous space! Décor on point, service excellent and the food is awesome!

Great to see lots of veggie options on the menu. There is a new tapas menu out too which is exciting.

Owner Michelle and the team are amazing, will make you feel at home!

Don't dilly dally, head on in! HAHA ;)
Eat Play Live Melbourne
We popped in on Sunday around lunch time and there was no queue for a table which was a big plus! Cute inside, lots of natural light but the tables are quite close together so probably not great for big prams. I couldn't see any seating outside on this occasion so I'd say probably not puppy friendly.
It's in a good spot, just off Chapel in South Yarra.

The Menu has all the brunch favourites. We tried the Croissant Eggs Benny with pulled pork; and also the Rosti sandwich with bacon and avo.
Both dishes were beautifully presented but the Benny was a little dry and underwhelming flavour wise. The rosti stack was a good size and the flavours were nice. I'd order this again.

Staff were friendly and helpful with a very relaxed vibe. We didn't try the coffee so I can't comment on that - maybe next time!

Don’t dilly-dally for too long buddy - there’s a bottomless brunch going on and you can’t go wrong 🙌🥳

I am a see, think for 2 seconds and conquer person 😳😂 yes, I’m a ‘let’s just yolo and see what happens’ person because I’ve learnt that life is way to short and that opportunities pass by in the blink of an eye.

Decisions don’t need to be 0 or 200% but if you not challenging yourself, how can you even move from any routine and stressful situation that is not getting you anywhere? How can you move forward and get yourself up? Think. What’s the worst thing that can happen? Not getting what/where you wanted? Not going anywhere? Regretting the fact that you tried?

Or NOT doing something and regretting that?

Don’t dilly dally and waste time through aimless wandering or indecision. Breathe, get ready and tackle it.

And trust me, I did tackle everything here indeed 🙌

We arrived at the venue and were kindly received by Melissa, a beautiful and clear boss lady that helps to run the place. We were quite early for a ‪Sunday brunch‬ and the place wasn’t very busy (in the beginning!) and we were able to choose where to seat.

The venue inside isn’t very big but can definitely accommodate quite a few people as it is strategically organised and there are some long tables in the middle. They also have further down the end, large tables with a plant and tree inspired background, making it a very enjoyable place to hang around. Actually, the whole place is quite inviting and the bright and pink tones that they use are very bright and clean, and at the same time, warm and appealing. Neon lights are always very instagramable and they sure know how to use that here too!

I had seen their menu prior to arriving at the venue as this place has been quite popular recently. There were some items that I knew I wanted to try and after asking for the staff’s opinion about what they recommended the most here’s what we asked for:

- Stacks on, Rosti - overwhelmed by HOW GOOD this was. Really. It certainly lived up to the expectations and even beyond I would say. This was one of the meals I had seen on their instagram and ordered by some fellow food bloggers and I even though I am a more sweet type of person, this was THE meal I really wanted to try. Not only is the meal beautifully presented but the actual ingredients on it are remarkable and surely delightful 🙌The potato rosti is crunchy and not greasy AT ALL, with an amazing sense of taste and seasoning. I would say that it is even better than some potato fries, much better! The bacon that they use, comes in a very generous portion and is flavourful and non fatty (do you know when you have those bacon slices that are more fat than actual meat? Well here, the fat content was barely existent and that shows that they do care about providing good quality products and that the food delivered is carefully chosen and catered! GREAT JOB INDEED!). It also comes with again a substantial portion of avocado, perfectly soft and mouthwatering – honestly I was so impressed by not only the quality but the actual serving of every ingredient. Because even though it does look like a massive meal, the portions are just right here and the naturally higher fat content of the ingredients chosen will keep you satiated for long. There is also a poached egg on top that not only provided that yolk porn shot that every food photographer loves but it actually compliments the meal extremely well and trust me when I say that a mouthful of the rosti with bacon, avocado and the egg is possibly of the best combos you’ll ever try. As since the detail is also a big thing in this place, there is some Pico de Gallo with a fresh, uncooked mixture of chopped tomatoes and onions, cilantro, fresh chiles, lime juice and salt providing the perfect final touch. I agree with all the feedback mentioned about this meal and would LOVE to have it again and again 🙌

- Dilly Health Bowl - after going through the menu and compared two of their most popular health bowls, my friend chose to have this meal. From my end I can say that the portion was impressive again and that the colours and whole presentation was certainly very aesthetic and instagramable. It comes with edamame beans, sautéed kale and a generous portion of ginormous brocollini and bok choy (that size, WOW! 😮). The colours of the turmeric cauliflower are impressive too and my friend said that the taste was good and those were nicely cooked. With some radish slices and cherry tomatoes, it also comes with a small portion of quinoa that in my opinion could be slightly bigger, but I understand that the bowl is mostly a lower carb but still filling option and I think it is a good call too for people that want to have a less calorie dense meal – it is good to have cafes providing all type of options and diversity. It also comes with some honey ginger dressing, that looked quite tempting and delicious and my friend chose to add some smoked salmon to it. I do think that everyone should add a protein source to this bowl like we did, otherwise the bowl will certainly be missing something. They have 3 protein options to choose from (fish, meat and vegan!) and you can also add some extra ingredients on the side to make it even more filling – we added some mushrooms and WOW, the taste and size was incredible! Perfectly marinated and with a pinch of salt to enhance the flavour, it was possibly one of the best mushrooms I have had in a while! GREAT job! 👌🙌

- Ah, Coconuts & Hemp-nola - okay, this one was just another revelation. The pictures I had seen from this nowhere represent how remarkable and extraordinary this meal is. Again, very beautifully presented and in a massive large bowl, the meal is not only enjoyable but light and at the same time filling, mutually soft and crunchy and just MARVELOUS. Half of it comes with a type of granola with activated buckwheat (an everyone’s old favourite and such an amazing choice when cafes use it – it is a guaranteed win!), large coconut chips and generous pieces of almonds, many hemp seeds for an extra crunchy and smooth feeling, and the most AMAZING pieces of dates that compliment the granola in a brilliant way that provides just the right amount of sweetness to the meal. The seasonal fruits chosen were also fresh and nicely cut into pieces and of good portion serving and the coconut yogurt was just terrific as well – seriously! I am an very peculiar when it comes to coyo and its hard to please me let alone to impress me, and here they surpassed all expectations that I had. I think that the passionfruit juice and seeds on top absolutely nailed it and the whole combination was nourishing and fresh, so much more enjoyable than some other coconut yogurts that are more dense and even cluttered.
With a subtle maple syrup, everything was just pure lush and I cannot recommend this meal more! Definitely a must too. Once piece of advice is to asked for the almond milk to be warmed up because not only makes the combo much more wholesome and nurturing but it also makes the granola a bit more soft, balancing the extra crunchiness with some soft almond touch 🙌

- Green Smoothie - my friend has this green smoothie and I got to try a little. Even though it is packed with great ingredients, personally I wasn’t a huge fan of the taste as the avocado taste is quite intense and not sweet. It is a blend of avocado, spinach, banana, maple syrup, shaved coconut and house almond milk and it is certainly creamy. I would not describe it as ‘heavy’ but it would be quite filling indeed (so much that my friend was struggling to drink it!) due to the higher fat content. I would rather have some sweet and fresh smoothies, but I am sure many people would like this too.

- Acai Smoothie - I decided to go myself for the acai smoothie and I have to say that I am not entirely sure if I would call this an acai smoothie. Not only is the colour not ‘acai like’ but the actual taste is nowhere near the taste of acai. It is thick in consistency and not too sweet as I was actually expecting it to be and it is supposed to be a blend of acai, banana, blueberries and goji berries with coconut water. Actually even with the added blueberries I would have expected the smoothie colour to be darker, since the actually use coconut water and not a plant based milk, but nonetheless the taste was good, nothing in particular standing out and not with a particular strong fruity taste. I would actually even say that it could be close to a strawberry milkshake (milkshake because it is unquestionably quite thick and more dense than your usual smoothie!)

- Almond latte – perfectly achieved, with just the ideal amount of foam and the most nourishing taste. It was such a delightful and good drink. A warm to the heart a soul, seriously. I would definitely come here for my usual coffee order because it was just pure perfection.

- Almond flat white – another perfection in a cup. My friend loved the drink and didn’t report any flaw at all.

Overall, even though the smoothies did not stand out, I have to say that the coffees were clearly remarkable and the food was even more extraordinary! I loved the whole experience from the moment we walked in, to the service provided, until the moment we walked through the door. The staff is very experienced, proactive and happy to accommodate and special requests in case you have them and they do have the biggest smile at all times. I felt very welcomed and I am sure that everyone that dines in will have a wonderful experience. Actually I have to note that even one their menu they are extremely thoughtful and even have a special note saying ‘If you have allergies or dietary requirements, please let the team know. We don’t wanna kill anyone ;)’. We felt in love with the place and I was so content with the whole experience that we decided to ask for a final treat, a magnificent cake from the counter.

I would have loved to able to try the hotcakes but I left a friendly suggestion for a vegan/allergen friendly alternative since all of their other meals can be quite easily adapted. I am sure many people would appreciate this little add on too, hopefully for a spring/summer menu ? 🙌😂
Yes, I don’t think I have ever been this curious to see what they come up with for the new menu because I DEFINITELY want to visit this place again! As trust me not only do I want to try other things from their menu, but I JUST NEED TO see what amazing creations they come up with AND SO YOU 🙌

It was very disappointing, we were really looking forward to trying the potato rosti, however, the potato rosti was very hard not even crunchy and over salted. The portion size was small too!

Heavenly pancakes that make the inner kid come out of you 🥰

FOOD: I ordered the DD Pancakes and they were spectacular! The pancakes themselves were an amazing texture and the litter of chocolate chips were the cheekiest addition! The batter itself was also perfect and the toppings were great! The syringe was also so adorable and a really nice novelty! Loved this dish and I can definitely say these pancakes are some of the best.

SERVICE: Here’s where I kinda felt turned off. One of their servers wasn’t the friendliest and also slightly nasty so it kinda made out experience abit bad and I thought it was just me but my friend felt it too so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dilly Daly is a beautiful cafe in a slightly unstrategic place but their food is great! Can’t say the same about their service 🤭

It gets a bit tricky to choose a place for lunch when we are only on Vegetarian Diet (for a particular week), even though there are plenty of dinning options that do Vegan, not everyone has an elaborate Menu unless it's Meat Free Cafe. Since the friend accompanying us wanted to have meat so we had a tough time finding something that does both. Honestly, it was worth the effort because we ended-up choosing Dilly Daly

Wow!!Beautiful Peeps Beautiful Food and Plenty of Options for Vegans, Meat Lovers and Vegetarians. Cherry on the cake was the Make Your Own Sandwich

We called for an Eggplant Parma, Cream Cheese, Halloumi and Multigrain bread from Make Your Own and of course, Chimichuri Roasted Lamb

Ozzy, who is a bit finicky about hos vegetarian meal declared "It's the best Eggplant Parma I have eaten so far"

The Halloumi that I had ordered was yummy.

And our friend loved his Chimichuri to the last bit.

The Hot Chocolate, Strong Piccolo and Juice were great as well.

The Sweet Potatoes Chips were crisp and perfectly seasoned.

We would highly recommend this place anyone and everyone.

❤️ Vibes
Dilly Daly has a warm, welcoming vibe as soon as you walk in the door. Our table for 4 wasn’t quite ready when I got there so I was greeted with a “thanks for waiting” glass of prosecco (which was a beautiful gesture and one I totally didn’t deserve as I was still waiting for the rest of my crew!). Most tables were taken up by big groups so we had to sit along the window which for a group of 4 made it hard to chat. It was packed but the team always served us with a warm smile.

🤤 Eats
There are 5x options to choose from on the bottomless brunch menu. The choc chip pancakes with a nutella injection were to die for 😍 as were the stacks on rosti with smashed avo and bacon topped with poached egg

🥂 Dranks
Cannot fault the extensive bottomless offering here! The cocktails (espresso martini, aperol spritz, peach bellini especially) are made really well and the list of wines, beer, cider, tea and coffee goes on and on! 10/10

Dilly Daly takes brunch bookings! Very helpful when we had a large party with us.

Ordered:
🥗 Eat your greens breaky bowl (v) (gf): braised spinach, kale, broccoli, chopped raw almonds, dukkha, quinoa, grilled zucchini & fresh avocado and garlic yoghurt dressing ($17.00)
+ 🥚 poached egg ($2.50)
+ 🧀 halloumi ($4.00)

Review:
Really good elements to this dish. Grilled zucchini was great, poached egg was juicy and a very generous serving of avocado.

There was too much kale... something I thought I'd ever say! The extras to the dish would've only lasted halfway through the kale saga which meant I had to ration like mad.

Would love to see more of that grilled zucchini / halloumi and definitely more of that garlic yoghurt dressing! It added a much needed refreshing cooling hit after all the greens.

Service was friendly and the interior was well lit. They let all 15 of us individually split bill and that was absolutely amazing!

Such a gorgeous cafe just off Chapel Street. Awesome location, very 'insta worthy' & bottomless brunch to top it all off!

The space is small but buzzing. I couldn't believe how packed this place was, in the best way. It was great to see so many groups enjoying their bottomless brunches. The space is very modern, with lots of grey stone decor and plant details. An iconic hot pink/purple neon sign has been placed proudly on the wall.

Watermelon cold pressed juice: Such a refreshing start to the meal. This juice was sweet & tasty.
Stacks on rosti: I really enjoyed this rosti stack. The rosti themselves were a good size, and had a great crunch. There was a generous amount of avocado & bacon inside the stack which was exactly what I needed. The egg on top was poached perfectly, and was super runny!
Healthy bowls were ordered by my friends

The service was super friendly & welcoming. Even though it was so busy, the staff were able to maintain their cool & still serve with a smile

Current favourite cafe. Delicious coffee and food! My daily go-to atm! Great work pleasure it work!

Service and coffee was good. However, the Dilly health bowl was a huge disappointment. The greens were tasteless, overcooked and watery. The chicken was clearly reheated instead of cooked fresh. The dish overall didn’t have seasoning and tasted bland and microwaved. After a couple of bites I expressed this but they were only willing to remove the cost of the chicken after looking at it, rather than the entire uneaten meal.

Have eaten here before and enjoyed it, so perhaps new management or chef? Would also explain why they’re having to advertise on EatClub now.

Horrible staff. Honestly I couldn’t believe it, so disappointed.

This cafe did not let me down. Being the second visit to this aesthetic venture down a street of South Yarra, I was more than impressed by everything they were achieving.

The hustle and bustle of the bottomless brunches. The laughter. And the amazing tunes. This place had atmosphere from the minute I walked in. Even under pressure, the staff were lovely and accommodating to us. As well as that, our meals arrived promptly which was also amazing.

As I was gazing over the menu. The ‘Dilly Health Bowl’ caught my attention. So much so, that I knew I had to get it. Coming with Edamame, sautéed kale, broccolini, bok Choy, turmeric cauliflower, radish, quinoa, cherry tomatoes. Served with a honey ginger dressing. It was absolutely stunning. But I knew I needed to add Falafel and Hummus to it, to truely complete it. I can confidently say, this was the best bowl I may have ever had. The flavours were complex, yet balanced. The dressing didn’t overpower any other elements and the mix of warm and cool, just made my stomach sing. Safe to say, I loved it.

My friend went for the other bowl on the menu cheekily called ‘Eat your greens breaky bowl’ with Braised spinach, kale, broccolini, chopped raw almonds, dukkha, quinoa, grilled zucchini and fresh avocado and garlic yogurt dressing. She added grilled chicken as her protein on the dish and loved the elements as equally as I did.

My third brunch partner went for a more breakfast type meal getting the ‘Stacks on, Rosti’. This was a potato rosti sandwich filled with smashed avocado and bacon, topped with poached egg and pico de gallo. The rosti were crunchy, yet not dry, the poached egg was beautifully runny and the freshness of the pico de gallo, literally topped it off.

All three of us loved our experience, and it was clearly a favourite amongst the South Yarra community. I definitely will be returning for more brunch adventures soon. A must stop anytime you are in Melbourne.

Brunching on a weekday means that you often can have the entire cafe all to yourself. I made the most of it while getting some work done ordering the hotcake and a latte. This dish presented and tasted well however unfortunately the middle of the hotcake seemed a little undercooked which took away slightly from the otherwise enjoyable hotcakes.
Rating 3.5/5

First brunch since moving to Melbourne... was delicious! Staff were super friendly, presentation of food was excellent. Overall great experience

The baked eggs with Mexican sauce and beans are really perfect for the toast. Coffee is pretty good too. I would recommend this dish. The waiters ans waitresses are very nice.

I’m a bit of a ham and cheese croissant fiend and I find myself in cafes and as I hate eating eggs I’m always looking for the next best thing, here I thought ok I’ll have the croissant!

The coffee was great! Really well made and not too hot. My croissant was still cold in the middle so lost a point. Overall this place has such gorgeous brunch vibe and I saw they do bottomless brunch? I think it’s a steal especially with my liver 😂😂

My partners egg and bacon roll was good - but messy.

My first time here and i loved the interior and atmosphere of this cafe, such cute decor and loved the cute bright neon lights.

Favourites: surprisingly the prawns pasta was my fav, garlicky and so much flavour. I loved it and would definitely come back just for this. My friend really loved the pancakes, said it was one of the best she’s had! It was really fluffy and chewy, just so yummy.
The bear lattes were super cute too.

Improvements: Although the fritters were delicious, it lacked a bit of flavour for me and was the least favourite. The avocado smoothie was a little too thick for me although it wasn’t bad.

Overall, a cute cafe and food was delicious! Id highly recommend.

Real rating 4.1 ⭐️

We had visited Dilly Daly for lunch not long ago and here’s what we had!

Stacks on, Rosti - potato rosti sandwich filled with smashed avocado and bacon, topped with poached egg and pico de gallo! I actually enjoyed this dish as I rarely see rostis being used as a sandwich or base and it went really well with the other elements! The smash avo was just the perfect amount (not too little and not overly bearing) and the bacon was a nice touch for a bit meatiness! My favorite part about this was the pico de gallo which gave an extra kick to this dish hence making it my fave for the day!

The DD, hotcakes - chocolate chip hotcake stack topped with berry syrup, vanilla mascarpone and Nutella injection! The hotcakes were pretty sweet with the Nutella injection and vanilla mascarpone but I enjoyed it! Who doesn’t love Nutella and chocolate right?

Big Dilly A-hu-mado - pretty much their take on a big brekkie! What I enjoyed about this was they included and the Italian pork and fennel sausages which I thought was different from other big breakfasts! The portions were huge as expected and the elements were pretty good (mushrooms and cherry tomatoes were juicy, eggs were well poached, etc).

We were pretty satisfied with our experience with Dilly Daly and would visit again to try out the rest of their menu!

4.5 Taking over from where Smak Food House belonged, Dilly Daly is a newly launched cafe that offers all-day brunch dishes that are not only stunningly beautiful but also tastebud-tantilising!
With a fashionable interior and bottomless brunch options, this is bound to become a local’s favourite!

Edit: 9.09.19
This is probably the greenest dish I've ever ordered.
I added a poached egg, which initially came very over poached but was replaced on request (I was that annoying customer who asked for another one but I'd paid extra to add it to the dish)
I didn't quite expect such a small sprinkle of quinoa on the dish and it really needed more to lift the dish, as otherwise, it was a big plate of kale.
That said, my last visit to Dilly Daly was great and had an amazing Baked Eggs so I think it was just the fact that this dish wasn't to my taste 🍴
_____________________________________

This place was formerly Smak and even though there have not been many interior changes, there have been some great changes to the menu.

The Shakshuka obsession continues!
This is the Frijoles Rancheros ($18), otherwise known as South American Baked Eggs. What makes this so tasty is the slow cooked mix of chorizo, eggplant and beans in a chilli tomato sauce. I absolutely loved the garlic bread accompaniment for the eggs too!

The service was great, the waitress was helpful to my friend choosing a dish that met her dietary requirements.
We sat and chatted for some time after we finished our food and didn't feel any pressure to move on which was so nice (there wasn't anyone waiting for our table either)
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Dilly Daly today a stylish cafe with the typical clean lines of a modern Melbourne establishment and a requisite pop of neon. I had a refreshing red booster juice followed by a chai latte. The menu states it’s loose leaf and if so it came out awfully quickly. It was certainly very aromatic and tasty though.

Dishes today, hubby got the magical mushrooms and I went for my typical smashed avo and added a side of cherry tomatoes. This is one piece of bread and sans egg so it’s a little steep at $17 but the avocado helping was plentiful and perfectly seasoned. The dish was originally a pea and avo mash for something a little different but I requested it pea free due to my strong aversion.

The dessert dish was Choc chip pancakes with a Nutella injection which was also supposed to come with a poached pear that was missing from my plate with no explanation. I think it really would have benefited from that being there to give the dish some oomph and add another dimension. I assume they ran out? Shame because I enjoyed all of the flavours today

We’ve been coming to Dilly Daly nearly every weekend for the past 3 months and it’s slowly becoming a weekly routine. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere is calm and cool every time we enter. Highly recommend getting a ‘Stacks on Rosti’, and if you don’t eat meat swap the bacon out for mushies and it’s even better!

Greeted by a bright pink fence. I like it.

Upon arrival the staff were so friendly, really bubbly and helpful. I really liked their vibe and the cafes vibe. Water and a drinks order was taken when being seated which is a bonus point for me, as I really like that efficiency of service.

My friend and I ordered health bowls. They have a great range of healthy dishes and sweet dishes.
I ordered the salmon bowl but switched it out for chicken, added some mushies and a poached egg. My friend ordered the chicken tender bowl.

These bowls were tasty and everything was well cooked and presented however, the portions were rather small. We both left still hungry. The chicken tender bowl definitely needed some bulking out whether that be with more quinoa or even more greens. It was the same with my bowl it just needed more and a big base of well cooked kale would have worked for both dishes and just packed them out a little bit more.

It was a good brunch, I would go back because service was fab and the food was tasty but next time I would go for something else!

8/10

Really lovely little cafe. Ordered the Eat your greens with two poached eggs and my friend got the Magical mushrooms. Both were really fantastic. The iced latte was also really great. Staff and friendly and had an overall great attitude.

In a prime position just off of Chapel Street, Dilly Daly is a new cafe set to make waves in the busy South Yarra cafe scene. With a funky interior, vibrant menu and lovely staff, this cute cafe has loads of positive attributes and is already bustling with a steady stream of regular customers. I loved the pastel pink tones, light furnishings, neon sign and touches of fresh greenery. It is open with a long wall of windows, allowing for plenty of natural light. We were welcomed by friendly staff and settled in with some great coffee while we scoped the menu. Plenty of healthy options, with a few fun, naughtier dishes thrown in for good measure.

We started with fresh juices and smoothies which were vibrant and colourful. The green smoothie had loads of avocado which made it creamy and lush. The watermelon juice combination was sweet, but still refreshing. Our food arrived in quick time and was plated beautifully. Our rosti stack consisted of two homemade potato rostis sandwiching smashed avo, bacon and topped with a poached egg. The rosti were perfectly crunchy yet soft on the inside. The avocado and egg were great and the bacon was just the right amount of saltiness, although I prefer my bacon a little crispier. The fresh salsa on the side was also delicious.

We finished with choc chip pancakes... perfectly fluffy and peppered with amazing chocolate pieces, these were seriously yummy!! With a poached pear, fresh fruit and berry compote, plus cream and a cute syringe of chocolate sauce, this dish amped up the fun factor. The fruit added some freshness to the decadent sauce and cream, and the pear was perfectly cooked and so tasty.

With such a comfortable environment, gorgeous staff and interesting menu, I would happily Dilly Daly here all day long.

The food and service is amazing, I have been here several times and it has never disappointed me. The magical mushrooms and Rosti stack are delicious. The atmosphere is buzzing and the place has a great vibe. Everyone should definitely check this place out.

Where do I start? Maybe how beautiful the aesthetics of this cute lil cafe is as you step inside, to the adorable lattes with bear art! To the layout of the dishes but also the flavour!
If you are looking for a healthy brunch which is still delicious I would definitely recommend one of their health bowls (alongside some sweet potato fries of course!).
Not to forget, the batch brew is served in the best Japanese style tea ceremonial & is steaming hot when it arrives (just how I like it).
Definitely one of the best brunches in Melbourne!

‘Hospitality chose me’.

Every so often I have the pleasure of meeting café owners who do it for love. It’s something that runs deep. As deep as the oceans crossed by those migrants who made Melbourne their home post world war two. Melissa Glentis is the granddaughter of Greek natives who set sail many decade ago, in hope of a better life. They paved the way for the generations to come, and raised the bar for what being hospitable actually is. I can always tell when a person is speaking from the heart, when tears well in their eyes upon questioning their heritage. It comes as no surprise though. Walking into Dilly Daly in South Yarra, I was immediately stuck by the warmth created by staff members who didn’t hesitate to ask me how my day was. It’s rather ironic that a venue with such a playful name has richness in meaning and significance. Melissa was raised in a family of hospitality veterans; and though she tried her hand at Law and Commerce; she had a calling that could not be denied. From the age of 10, she learnt the value of showing love by feeding the mouths of those around her, and her home was always full of people. It was this environment in which she learnt the art of being hospitable. A dying art, may I add. So today, as the owner of Dilly Daly, Melissa treats every single person who walks through her door, as though they are walking into her living room. It’s a feeling I hold in high regard, and crave daily.

While Dilly Daly may be a play on words, considering the venue is located on Daly Street, it’s also a reflection of Melissa’s prowess in being the Queen of Procrastination. Thankfully, she didn’t stall in her efforts to take the reins at this South Yarra café, and has nurtured what today is a true representation of Melbourne’s café culture. With its clean Scandi design, and fresh brunch menu, Dilly Daly offers a sanctuary for both locals and visitors from afar. Not only are they licensed (with a list of cocktails that include the espresso martini, mimosa, and breakfast martini), but they also do dinner sessions with Chef Petros Dellidis, who offers a 5 course menu featuring seasonal produce sourced from local farmers, and inspired by his Greek heritage.

All day breakfast favourites include the DD choc chip Hotcakes topped with berry syrup , poached pear, and Nutella injection’; and the ‘Stacks on, Rosti’ which are potato Rosti sandwiches filled with smashed avocado and bacon, and topped with poached egg and pico de gallo.

Coffee is sourced from Vertue Coffee Roasters, with the Sabretooth blend for milk based espresso, and rotating singles for black coffee. I was treated to a filter brew using the Peruvian Bosques Verdes, from San Ignacio. This washed lot had sweet plum tones, with green apple acidity. The perfect accompaniment to the Healthy Bowl with a vegan twist, loaded with Edamame, Bok Choy, Cauli Rice, and a tamarind ginger dressing.

Find Dilly Daly at 6c Daly St, South Yarra, open 7 days a week. Say hi to Melissa. You can’t miss her beaming smile from behind the espresso machine.

The food was so good and it was served nicely. The people were very accomodating and love the vibe of the place. Would definitely come back x

Have tasted more than half the meals on the menu at Dilly Daly since moving into an apartment in the same building and have yet to be less than impressed with any of them. The food is great, so is the coffee and is always served with a smile. The venue itself is also quite pleasant; it can be busy but you don't feel like the other diners are sitting on top of you unlike some other venues nearby.

My favourite thus far has been the granola (pictured) - which had a perfectly balanced level of sweetness. The Easter Special (also pictured) was a hoot (if perhaps a sugar overload - but hey, gotta have some fun sometimes). The hotcakes were great (have you ever not enjoyed being served chocolate sauce in a syringe stuck in a massive hotcake?), and if you're there for lunch the chicken parma has a distinct flavour to the sauce which elevates it - great chips too!

Nice interior, good food and friendly staffs!
For our savoury menu we chose rosti stacks. It was a balanced combination. Also, we had hotcakes that not overly sweet which is an A+ for us.

Will I be back? Yes !

Yum! I couldn’t decide what to have 😋 the cold brew was perfect 👌 can’t wait to go back and try more from this menu - those Nutella pancakes were delicious too 😀 🥞 🤤 ☕️

What a find! I had the potato rosti and I can honestly say it was next level awesome! I had to come back another time because the Sam I am I needed to try mainly because of the skewered bruschetta, sausage and scrambled eggs with pesto - added halloumi for extra satisfaction.
The coffee was perfect as well. So far this place ticks all the boxes and just wants me to keep coming back for more - the chicken burger is next guys, keep up the good work. Loving the South American influence.

the peas smashed into the avo was really unique and different to anything weve ever had. the chilli added nice sweetness and spice and the toasted pepitas added nice crunch. the toast was cut to a good thickness however there was only 1 piece and notegg and it was quite pricey at $17 for that. although there was a bit too much lemon in the avo and it was a but acidic, the avo portion itself was generous. For the other avo dish, the idea of this dish was really unique having it as a 'sandwich'. the portion was generous as it had a lot of avo, 2 hash and a poched egg too for $19.50 which was good. the pico de gallo added freshness from the tomato and the and the hash added nice crunch from the outside and softness from the soft inside. The only thing was the hash got a but soggy on the outside in some spots because of the avo sitting on it and the avo was a bit too acidic. The atmosphere here was really nice with a really open seating design and big windows making the whole place really nice and bright. The decor was really simple but beautiful. The service was amazing and the staff were so so friendly and willing to help in any way they could

This place is just off Chapel on Daly Street. It has great coffee and really great food with lots of options (eggs benny on croissant is amazing) Really love the people who work here. Always friendly and attentive. Definitely try it out.
Queen Of Food
I’ve been here a few times over the last couple of weeks and tried a couple of things on the menu. Food wise it’s generally good portion sizes, would recommend a closer eye on seasoning. The magic mushrooms i thought had a strange marinate on the mushrooms and the eat your greens plate I thought was a little bland. Service wise, I don’t like that they came over on two separate occasions to take our plates away when one of us was clearly still eating. All in all, not a bad place for brunch or a lunch meeting but not ranked in highly for me.

I love the environment and atmosphere here. Good for coming as a group or alone. Staff are very friendly. Also the location is great...you have an open view but won't feel the 34°C heat even sitting outside.
