Review Kuan Yin Tea House - Southport

Absolutely delicious vegan food! We ordered Honey Chicken, Chicken Rice Noodles, Sweet n Sour Pork, Mushrooms and Pork fried rice. The mushrooms needed some sort of sauce, we tried sweet chilli but it just didn't cut it. Maybe more of a smokey bbq sauce would've been more suitable but they were yum on their own regardless. We will be back for sure

Beautiful food made by beautiful people, have to try this restaurant, have been coming here since 2019 and doesn't disappoint each time. This time my favourite was the Thai calamari fried rice and Taiwanese fried chicken! Keep it up guys !

This vegan cafe is superb! So many exceptional dishes that it's always soo hard choosing! Especially when you know that the Laksa just a huge portion of mouth watering goodness.

Have been this restaurant several times. They all look very "meaty" and don't look like vegetarian dishes until you have a bite. This time I ordered a sweet & sour fish bento box, never let me down! Just be aware they close on Sunday and Monday and evening at 8pm, a bit early when comparing to other restaurants in Southport

Very nice and cozy restaurant. I visited it with friends for the first time and we liked everything there, the taste of the dishes, the amount of portions and the price! Ordered mushroom soup, cheese&veg roll, salt&pepper mushrooms and Veg 3 combo box. Friendly and fast service. Would definitely recommend to visit.

The honey ch'ken was lovely - very tasty. But the pork rice was a mushy overcook pile of food - no texture and just tasted like spicy, greasy tinned peas and corn with rice. I had 4 bites and couldn't eat anymore. When I informed the staff that it wasn't satisfactory all they said was to try something else next time and still charged me full price, despite it not being eaten nor enjoyed. Really disappointing to see customer satisfaction isn't a priority considering their decent reviews.

My daughter is vegan and we live in hervey bay. Very hard to eat out. But we visited this amazing restaurant and i was blown away by the variety of food but also the taste and quality was amazing! I can't wait to visit again!

There is no way I can be friendly on this. Took time off to celebrate a birthday and only chose to dine here cause my partner is a vegetarian. <br/>They took our order and told us to sit.<br/>The restaurant is empty. <br/>There are no other diners at 12.30pm.<br/>The wait staff and cook were chatting and playing non stop.<br/>30mins passed and we were waiting on our food. <br/>Went to ask about our food. They simply told us they forgot our order.<br/>They have even yet to start cooking! <br/>Wasted time waiting for food when we were rushing for time. <br/><br/>Not sure if we will come back again. Might be better off going for Rebel Whopper.

Cute great food, lots of vegan options, and very cheap! The radish cakes are always fab. If you miss the old Kuan Yin Teahouse in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, this is a great place to come to relive the good old days! 👵 It’s not exactly the same menu but fairly close.

Food- amazing taste for vegio/vegan dishes. Prices are reasonable as well. They do make takeaway bubble teas as well. <br/>Service- quick and efficient plus friendly staff<br/>Environment-good to catch up with friends and family. Not too noisy. <br/><br/>Overall - good experience and will definitely be back for more.

Our first time here, we came because we loved the previous reviews. Very polite & friendly hosts, this restaurant is very cheap and very basic. Food is ok, the spicy noodle wonton they "warned" is spicy, but it isn't at all. We will come again, but it hasn't made it into my top 10.

First time to try such vegetarian eatery in Gold Coast. Walked in and was greeted by the friendly owner. Set-up nice, clean and spacious. We ordered the Pepper & Salt Mushroom Veg. Thai Spicy Chicken, Seaweed & Egg Soup and the Veg. Thai Fried Noodle with Calamari. The mock meat of chicken dish was slightly let down but the appearance of it was close enough to deep-fried chicken meat. We had  purely vegetable soup instead of what we expected to be seaweed & egg because there was no seaweed there and the soup was quite bland. Pepper & salt mushroom deserved thumb-up in terms of portions and taste. Hero should be the fired noodle. It taste well and I Loved the calamari. If the chef can add more herb that the Thai cuisine used to be, it will surely add marks. Overall, it was good to see a nice place for my vegetarian day in the future.

I love this place! I take all my non-vegan friends and family members here and they absolutely love it too. The prices are great and the food is even greater. I recommend everyone tries the bubble tea with soy milk. I can keep coming back here and never get sick of it!

Really good vegan food. I've tried their noodle with veg pork, which is good, and they have most flavored soup with sauces from China, which is important for the taste.

Hands down one of the best Taiwanese style vegetarian/vegan restaurants on the coast! I tried their salt and pepper fish rice and I swear I got scared when I tried it! It tasted so much like real fish, it is the best substitute fish I have ever had! Their bubble tea range is also amounts the best, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The menu is extensive and the service is super fast, definitely recommended this place for all the 'vegos' on the coast and those who want to try something different. <br/>My only tiny complaint with the restaurant if that the are always open and closed (days) inconsistently so I always have to call to check they are open.

Salt and pepper fish rice with a side of dumplings floats my boat. The fake fish is amazing, actually all the substitutes are! Staff are super friendly and now take eftpos!

I've been coming here for years and Kuan Yin never disappoints. The huge range of soy bubble tea is incredible (no really, try the taro milk tea) and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Also, the portions are very big, and that's without taking to account the price, so come on an empty stomach.

The food here is pretty awesome. I heard about it from my fellow vegan friend and it's crazy cool how the "meat" tastes. I'm not much of an Asian food eater but when I feel like it I go here! It's wonderful. Only the atmosphere/interior needs work as the staff are super friendly.

Delicious food. The boyfriend could not get his head around how the vegetarian fish can taste so good. Highly recommended. Even for meat lovers. This place beats most of the Asian Chinese place in Gold Coast. <br/><br/>We tried the salt n paper fish with rice, vegetarian oyster omelette and vegetarian pork ribs noodle soup. Traditional vegan and vegetarian buddist taiwanese fare. Fantastic food at a great price. The portions were generous and the service friendly. Great for vegans and non vegans alike. Ordered multiple dishes and loved them all. This restaurant will now become a regular place that we visit.

We have a winner!. If you're looking for a spot where you can get full on delicious vegetarian Taiwanese food, then look no further. This spot is a gem, and it's definitely on my go-to list. <br/><br/>Servie was great. I'm assuming the owner was serving us, and he was polite, welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating. The portions are on the large-side, which is definitely not a complaint :) The prices are cheap, which encourages you to order a number of different dishes. Flavors were robust, ingredients tasted fresh, and eating the food was a delight. I enjoyed tasting the different types of veggie meat, of all shapes and textures. <br/><br/>I definitely appreciated the care that goes into making the food, even down to making the bubble tea. The server tasted the drink before serving it to us to make sure the flavors were on point (no he didn't drink out of our cup). <br/><br/>Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely food and service. Kuan Yin serves delicious vegetarian and vegan taiwanese food. The staff are very friendly, the restaurant is clean and neat and the atmosphere very relaxing. My favourite dishes are the steamed dumplings, wonton soup and the veggie simmer mince. The food and drinks menus are substantial, with non-vegan foods clearly labeled. The prices are good value for money but the restaurant is cash only so you need to be prepared. Paid parking on the street is plentiful.

About the most authentic Taiwan style food and service in Australia. i have been there more than ten times in five weeks.

Overall, I quite enjoyed my meal there. The atmosphere and décor of the restaurant is comfortable, simple and clean. The service was friendly and food was tasty. Most of the serving sizes were reasonable for the price you pay.

Modest in decor and price does not mean a lack of choice! The Pork roll is absolutely delicious: a mix of sweet soy-based protein and salad wrapped in a tender roti-like bread. It’s an absolute winner!
