Review Donatella's Alfresco Ristorante Pizzeria - Southport

Not the traditional Italian slice. Decent pizza. Lasagna was cold, the sauce is the only thing i truly liked. Really overpriced for what you’re getting. Not coming back.

Great little find! Had a pizza and it was super tasty. If you are the type that will compare pizza to dominos, you are not the type that will appreciate traditional Italian pizza. The staff were also very amazing. Were very kind and generous. During this time, instead of going to chain, support the little guys who can make food taste amazing.

I’d say the best and one of the oldest Italian restaurant in Gold Coast! The food is fresh and tasty! Fantastic place to spend time with your family and friends! Nice atmosphere! You must try the pizza and pasta! Love it. Thanks guys for your service! Very happy

Worst service!!! Ordered for delivery. 3 hours and several calls and promises later we never received out order and the restaurant closed. We wouldn't have waited so long if they didn't keep promising our order was in progress! Be honest next time!!!

Had a bad experience. Spoke to owner, who was helpful and generous in resolution. Really good pizza too, will return and sample their wider menu soon.

Called in an order an hour ago. Guy on the phone told me 10 minutes. Showed up 20 minutes later and they hadn't even started preparing the food. "We're busy tonight!" was the excuse, though the dining room had 2 tables and there were only 3 other tickets hanging on the pizza prep line. Finally got the food an hour later ... it's utterly disgusting. Pizza tastes worse than cheap frozen pies. Pasta tastes like it came from a no-frills can. They lied about the size of the pizzas and charged us for "family size" but gave us large. (We know this because they messed the order up and gave us 2 larges, which are the same size as the 2 "family size" pizzas.) Truly a waste of time, money, and toilet paper.

Been here a couple of times for takeaway pizzas, but unfortunately, the margarita and Hawaiian pizza we ordered were too salty this time. Must be the ham that was used.

Bit of a time warp. If you want traditional Australian Italian, Donatella's is for you. The place itself would be great to film a dodgy 80's mafia movie...or a mafia themed dinner date. I really only tried it because Donatello is my fav, but the pizza is good, nice base, tasty ingredients and much more cheese than is necessary. Michelangelo would approve.

Friendly family run establishment, very traditional little restaurant. I ordered a fettuccine Zingara, or "Gypsy sauce", which is usually a sauce reduced from brown stock, tomato and White wine. However, the menu described it as prawns, mushroom, garlic in a creamy white wine sauce, effectively making it garlic prawns. The meal came with a complementary Margarita pizza. Pizza base was freshly made and cooked to perfection, the pizza sauce was full of flavour. Pasta had fresh prawns, lots of mushroom and garlic. The consistency of the sauce was just right, not too thick, nor too watery so it clung to the pasta and added flavour. Pasta was cooked to the point of Al dente, however was lacking in flavour. I have visited this restaurant before and was satisfied enough to return, and will continue to do so, but I'm hoping to see some improvements. Some recommendations of mine are painting and refurbishing the restaurant, New tablecloths and paper placemats, adding more salt to the cooking water.
In a nutshell i would say ... would you like some meat and veg with your sauce, same with pasta. That being said green peppercorn sauce with mustard was nice. Wouldn't say it wasn't edible but would probably not go back. In fairness ours was a delivered service so maybe that's why.

Charming!!. This is a charming little Italian restaurant for a casual relaxed meal!
The atmosphere is inviting and friendly and the family that own the restaurant are such nice people, very attentive and they actually care whether or not you enjoy your meal :)
I've taken away many times, their pizzas are so traditional tasting, my favorite is mushroom pizza with extra garlic and half cheese... omg! Sensational.
You'll love this place.
