Review Shi-loh Jamaican Restaurant - Southport

Came here for lunch last year (2015). The lunch doesn't have a lot of choices, but it didn't matter when what they had was great. I had jerk chicken on rice, and my partner had jerk chicken in a sandwich. Both were fantastic, and remarkably inexpensive! Definitely recommended.

Pretty fun place to go. They had reggae and Bob-Marley music blaring from the radio for most of the night and then they played some music once we were served. I've never experienced Jamaican foods before, but it was very nice. Went as a group and ordered a few dishes to share with each other.

Definitely one of the best restaurants I've been too in a long time!! The food was authentic and yummy and Jimmy, the owner, was awesome! The live reggae music there was also great. Definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Beer is Jamaican and ice cold, food is home style, fresh and full of flavour, the owner and chef is a legend. Great casual atmosphere, Will be back!!!

Went on a Thursday night, so very quiet. Food was delicious. Had jerk chicken, rice and beans, coconut bread, washed down with a couple of red stripes and a rum cocktail . Interesting conversation with the owner, sum it up in one word.......authentic!!! n

Oh so delicious, hubby and I walking down Scarborough trying to find something new to try. Stopped to read the menu and the owner introduced himself and told us about the food so we had to give it shot. WOW, so flavoursome, so tender and juicy and generous serving sizes. Atmosphere was great and the staff were great....you'll see us there again for sure!

Overpriced. Did a job trial there and the owner was constantly making sexual inappropriate comments after id already said it made me uncomfortable so didnt know how to handle it once it continued n just laughed awkwardly.

Pretty good. I'm not an expert on jamaican food so I cant comment on authenticity, but the main point is the food is pretty good...exotic. <br/><br/>good music and atmosphere. the owners a cool guy from jamaica<br/><br/>theres this rice with black beans that smelled like tea so I was abit unsure but it tastes great!<br/>the jerk sauce is quite spicy so be prepared for it!

Yeah Mon !. There aren't many Jamaican restaurants in Queensland, but this place is great. Try the jerk chicken and garlic prawns with Red Stripe Jamaican beer ! and plenty of Jamaican rum (be careful the alcohol here is quite pricy). The owner is a funny guy, always singing and dancing, and the atmosphere is great. It's like being in Jamaica (minus the marijuana !).

Don't bother. I have never experienced customer service as terrible as when we attempted to dine at this restaurant. The manager began shouting at our group in the dining area because we had presented a voucher for our meals, which was made clear at the time of booking. He was rude, condescending and at one stage attempted to guilt our party into paying for meals for which we had a valid voucher (in which the meals had already been paid for!), stating "How can I pay my waitress if you order and do not pay in cash?".<br/><br/>We did not order meals due to the managers refusal to accept our vouchers, which were clearly valid and have since been refunded from the website they were purchased (Living Social) as a result of this experience. As we were leaving he began shouting "Fine, leave, I don't care!"<br/><br/>We all had a terrible experience attempting to dine here, and would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay clear!

Not The Best. I'm from Canada and have tried plenty of Caribbean restaurants over the years. After coming to the coast, I asked around for a good Jamaican place and everyone I met suggested this restaurant. <br/><br/>I went one evening with two others and we all ordered different dishes off the menu so we could each try a little something.<br/><br/>No where on the menu I could find Jerk Chicken or anything similar. Although, you could have the "jerk sauce" added to any of your dishes. <br/><br/>I ordered "jerk chicken" off the menu with rice and peas. What I did get was a curry dish of chicken and veggies with a small bowl with rice and peas. If you have had authentic Jamaican food, you will know that that is not what jerk chicken is like.<br/><br/>Of all the food we had ordered, only my dish was decent enough. The other two didn't even finish their food - one of which was the jerk chicken kebabs and the other was some vegetarian dish.<br/><br/>I personally do not plan on going here again. Although, if you are Australian and haven't had authentic Jamaican food previously, you may enjoy the food as others have.

Really wonderful experience. The vegetarian options are delious and the staff are super friendly. The decor is so festive and the whole evening was really fun and relaxing. Totally recommended.

You’ll feel like you’re in Jamaica when the live reggae is on. I took away a lunch special jerk chicken, coco fish, and a kids chicken and rice. The adult meals were a bit spicy and salty, probably how soul food should taste to go with some beer or other drinks, but the kids chicken and rice was delicious! Will be back!
