Review Hou Sik - Southport

We have lived in the area for 15+ years and have eaten food from this restaurant for a long time where the quality and portions have always been fresh and good. The owners have changed a few times which we remember but we haven’t gone for quite some time recently so unsure of whose managing the restaurant now. today we ordered wonton soup and fried rice. The fried rice honestly tasted like it was a week old, dry, stale and had limited ingredients. The wonton soup was very salty and the broth had no other flavour so just like salty water nothing like previous times we have ordered. We then called and told them about the order and they insisted all food is made fresh and to bring it back so they could look at it. Lucky we are in the area but driving up and down just over simple items is frustrating. My daughter had to go take it back as theres a baby in the house and its frantic this time so I couldn’t go myself and she forgot the meal so then had to drive back again as they insisted we bring the food back to look at . then she gets there to the counter and the manager or whomever it was, was very rude said we could not have a refund only a replacement ( why would we want another plate of poor quality food) then after some convincing we finally got a refund for the rice. Just seems like a lot of effort to put customers through driving back twice to show a plate of food and arguing about refunds when we are long term customers and realistically its just two small items. So yeah we will not be back.

Fairly Average Chinese Restaurant To Be Honest. A Typical Sweet and Sour Pork, With What Looked & Tasted Like Reheated Fried Rice. Served By An Uninspired "Waitress", (Really Stretching it, Referring to this young Australian girl as a Waitress). Seemed Like She Would Rather Be ANYWHERE Else. Spark Up Princess, You're Letting The Side Down!!

Went for lunch with friends, tried their lunch menu. Quite filling and ok to eat. Parking spot was empty for a Saturday which was great.

The extra time the front of house spends late at night giving out takeaways doesn't go unappreciated; this restaurant spends what seems like real love and appreciation creating genuine Chinese meals late into the night. Their menu is expansive but each dish is distinctive and impressive in their own ways, and all at extremely affordable prices. Eating the food from Shang Court is a pleasure and a privilege.

I just made an order by uber eats and is the worst food I ever eat. I asked 1 Mongolian beef and it's like bubble gum when you chew it.. and also expensive. It's a big portion but not worth at all for the price.. The rice looks like it was cooked last week.. I'm very disappointed

Satay combination you can't go wrong with. Other dishes not so much, quality varies.

Food here is always amazing! Fresh, hot and very friendly service. We forgot to mention to exclude beanshoots from my wife’s fried rice since she’s pregnant. They didn’t hesitate to make another one within minutes at no charge.
