Review Alba Cafe Gold Coast - Southport

Alan Clement
Excellent Scottish themed cafe with traditional Scottish foods on the menu. Haggis and black pudding was yummy. Staff were pleasant and engaging. Coffee tasted good. Definitely worth a visit.

The best coffee all the time, served by people who know and love coffee. Plus the food is always fresh and very tasty. Also a cold beer on a hot day is always good. So pleased Scott and Chris bought some quality to Southport!

Coffee was good, but charged me $5 when menu said $4 then said something about "new prices". Pretty sure that's a breach of consumer law... just a $1, but says something about the ethos behind the business. (Or maybe these were just unfairly inflated prices for the GC Marathon?)

Ordered the haggis and cheese roll. When it came out, it looked like your average half-assed roll. Nothing bad, just average looking. But looks can be deceiving, as everything about the burger was incredible and I almost ordered a second one despite being full. The icing on the cake is who I assumed to be the owner. When the 11 year old I was eating with got up to grab more napkins, this guy was ready to meet him with some. The level of awareness he has of everyone in his café is incredible. Would definitely recommend

Beautiful cafe to go to. Staff is friendly. Owners lovely. Food is excellent. Erery weekend and during the week they remember their customers by name. Enjoy going there for service. Love it.

Wow that was amazing service and the food was fantastic. Really took me to a happy place. Been along time since I had that good old fashioned service and a meal that left me talking about it for days. Well done. I'll be back for sure.

Ordered the poached eggs with avocado on toast dish, very disappointing. Both eggs were not poached, the yolk was hard as a rock and not deliciously ooey gooey as it should be. The avocado looked and tasted like mush from a pre-bought container. Why not present a fresh avocado sliced up over the eggs on toast? Tasteless dish, only good for some fuel for the day, nothing more. On top of this, we received a surcharge on the bill for paying on card and were not warned of this. What’s up with that? Warn your customers if they will be paying for more than the items ordered. Terrible service and food, won’t be back here again.

Really slow to make eggs Benedict considering no one was in the cafe, got order wrong after long wait and chef decided to go out side and have a smoke and talk while counter staff made meal which ended up being overdone. Really disappointing hope it gets better
