Review Lotus Cafe - Springfield Lakes

Nick Gentner
Great coffee shop in Springfield. Both the food and the coffee are great here. The fried mushrooms and the avocado toast both come highly recommended. And although I didn't taste it, the acai bowl was apparently also great. The only downside is that each time we have visited some tables have been located in direct sunlight with no shade.

Unfortunately Lotus is just not what it used to be. The prices just keep going up while the service and quality goes down. We’ve been customers since they first opened and we used to frequent every weekend without fail for breakfast. The customer service is almost non existent now. Today we ordered breakfast and cold drinks and had finished our meals with no sign of our drinks. I had to mention it to one of the staff who looked quite put out and said she’d look in to it. After a while we were standing up ready to leave as we’d long finished our meals and I went to ask if they could be put in to take away cups instead and before I could get a word out was told ‘they’re coming’. Nice. A sorry about forgetting your drinks in the first place would have been nice. They have water on tap but no cups out, you have to ask (again seems to put the staff out if you do that). No condiments - I mean I get the whole covid thing but I can’t say I’ve been to any other coffee shop recently who hasn’t either put them back out or at the very least asks you if you want any when they deliver your meals. I wouldn’t dare ask the staff for any and put them out even more. The bread is never buttered which I’ve always found very strange. People don’t want to eat dry toast. Everything seems to come with poached eggs these days whereas previously they didn’t. To change my eggs to scrambled yep it costs extra but removing them from the avocado altogether (they never used to have them) will certainly not come any cheaper. They mention dukkah with the avo but it is invisible on the plate these days. It used to be so generous and really added to the dish. If you’re lucky they’ll remember to give you a tiny wedge of lemon, but often forget. Plain avo toast with no lemon or dukkah or salt is just not great for the price. At least they’ve removed the mention of balsamic from the latest menu as again that used to be amazing with their avo, now you can barely make it out as garnish on the plate. This was my caramel slice today. Barely any caramel and the chocolate on top was spotty and tasted stale like it had been sitting there a while. Such a shame what’s happened to this much loved spot of ours. Certainly won’t be rushing back.

It was just ok for me... not a place I'd rush back to without prompting. Chill atmosphere, busy vibe. Staff were very helpful. Coffee and food was quick. Coffee - green fruity notes.... bacon eggs benny - hollandaise needed something extra

The burgers are big! The buttermilk chicken was cooked perfectly, not greasy at all. Will definitely be back

Excellent coffee and food, but... It feels like the welcoming and friendly atmosphere has disappeared. I miss the days I'm greeted with a smile as my order has been taken. I actually feel like I get more customer care from a maccas self service machine

The first time we came the food was expensive but well worth it. Tasty, delicious and fresh. Orange juice was fresh with pulp and the service was great. Our second visit was disappointing. Customer service was not friendly or welcoming. Felt like a nuisance when we asked to sit inside in the shade as it was 10 o’clock and hot outside. Got denied at first because our group of 7 was too big but was easily able to add a chair to the table. My sons meal was wrong and when they brought the right meal it was under cooked ham and cheese crossoint with hard cheese. My daughters egg was under cooked and the bacon was burnt and my mums orange juice was nothing like our first visit. Tasted like cheap orange juice from coles from a bottle. We were going to make this cafe our regular family catch ups but not anymore.

Lotus is a wonderful cafe with good food and great coffee! All the young ladies out the front are so sweet, bubbly and friendly. The customer service from these ladies is so welcoming and wait time is minimal!

My husband and I went here to grab coffee and breakfast…we were at the counter for 5mins without being acknowledged despite making eye contact with multiple staff. We sat down and again made eye contact and tried to get the attention of the waitress who ignored us completely. After 10 mins in the cafe without anyone talking to us and sitting at a uncleared table we left and went to another cafe down the road. The staff were not even busy - very confused.

Never leave unsatisfied, always my first stop off when taking the dog for a walk in the mornings, The staff are always lovely and always whiling to cater for my needs an even bringing out a sneaky treat for my already well loved boy as well, coffee an acai bowl to die for can never finish it

Always leave a happy and well caffeinated camper. Food is yummy, staff are friendly. Coffee is the bomb. And you seem to be the only place that makes a proper thick shake, so all the Springfield Kiwi's, this is your place

This cafe is one of my top favourite places to go! Wonderful service, great atmosphere and delcious food. Staff are an amazing bunch, we had a late booking on a very busy morning and staff still went out of their way to move tables around and fit us in. I love that they have a permanent vegan menu which is filled with delicious options- no boring salads here!

My new favourite place!! I was lucky enough to try one of their grazing boards and it was out of this world!!! Staff deliver high level of service and coffee is delicious!! Can’t wait to return!

Given that Jason and Rose worked at the greatest Thai Restaurant in Forest Lake, it should come as no surprise that their own ventures would be just as successful. Here we are this many years later, loving what they've done with Lotus.

The food is very good. I enjoy the house made Hollandaise sauce. Eggs are always poached well. Coffee is delicious, and the staff are always friendly.

I visited the 'Lotus Cafe' after a friend of mine posted pictures on Instagram of the beautiful Vegan food options available there. Being an Instagramer myself and someone who really enjoys finding new places that have Vegan options, I went to the Lotus Cafe the very next day. I was certainly not disappointment in my dining experience, the coffee was quite good, the Raw Pad Thai was excellent, the Falafel Salad was great and the Spring Rolls were the best I have ever had. The only disappointment for me was that the food was quite hastily assembled and not as well presented as my friend had enjoyed the day before and the Raw Pad Thai was a bit smaller than my friends also. I will certainly be coming back to this great spot though!

Loved the location of this bright, airy cafe sitting on a ridge overlooking Springfield. Noticed they did single origin but when I enquired about it there was some uncertainty as to whether or not it was available? They finally agreed it was, however when I received my cup it tasted rather ordinary with a sad lack of strength. (I ordered the coffee strong). It came out well presented, but too much foam for a flat white

Loved our trip to lotus, sitting outside in the sunshine on a cold winter morning was delightful. I had the raw pad Thai salad which was so delicious! Better than I expected. They have a good selection of hot and cold drinks which was great and a few treats in the cabinet as well. Service was friendly and fast, even though they were quite busy. We had a 'unicorn slice' from the cabinet which we didn't finish because even though it looked great, it seemed to consist of about 50% coconut oil. Everything else was really nice though

Very good coffee. Seating arrangements were less than desirable. Menu was very alternative but great for healthy conscious. Food was great none the less. I did find the barrista staff a little rude but still would recommend.

It’s fitting that our final meal at Springfield takes place at the Lotus Café, situated in the ground floor of Springfield House. Perched high up on a ridge, it’s a light and breezy location under cover yet open air overlooking Greater Springfield - the Orion Shopping Centre, Robelle Parklands and the Queensland headquarters of GE.

Offering ‘All day breakfast’, ‘All day lunch’ and ‘All day vegan’ there’s a definite health slant to the food, the menu clearly marked with symbols for gluten-free, refined sugar free, vegetarian and vegan. We dine early on a simple egg and mushrooms on toast brekkie and an Açai bowl. Laden with super berry goodness...

My friend and I had a lovely breakfast at the Lotus Cafe this morning and plan to eat here again. I ordered the avocado and feta on toast with a side of haloumi and a cappuccino; the avocado and feta in toast was delicious and the cafe didn't skim on the amount of avocado! The bread was very fresh and filled with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and considering how busy the cafe was, the food come out very quickly.

Had breakfast here today & we really enjoyed it. Coffee is basically perfect, love the brew. Partner had the big breaki as always, bit heavy on the beans but he didn't complain. Hate those generic hash browns but each to their own. Great salmon side portion with my eggs, not so much for the mushrooms. We'd go back!

I absolutely love this place! The staff are lovely, the food & coffee are fantastic & you can even bring your dogs here. It's a great local to have however it would be nicer if they were open a little later on the weekends, you need to order food by 10.30 as the kitchen closes at 11.

Food always good! Service is also good. Can get really busy and it can get hot in the sun. But a great experience and a great local cafe! :)

I think there was not enough staff on, on this lovely sunny Sunday winter morn. Took a long time to get our coffee and meal, all the while sitting in a stool with no back on it. I'm sorry, but I like to be comfortable and there just aren't enough decent chairs in the place. As fast as someone with a decent chair, out of the sun vacated, people in the sun or with a backless stool would jump into it. The food and coffee were nice when they arrived and the staff seemed ok. Maybe on a quiet day it would be a whole different experience.

Love this place, nice quiet spot, great food, and cheap prices!! Friendly staff and good coffee would definitely recommend for a nice meal in the local area! Great gluten free options as well!

Love almost everything about this place - friendly local service, amazing coffee, best breakfasts in the entire Springfield region. Dislikes... Lack of aircon on hotter days, and opening hours are so restrictive!! But what a gem :)

Really nice, fresh, tastey food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Ordered Vietnamese chicken salad, breakfast burger and pulled pork; all delicious.

Visited today for a nice Sunday breakfast with the family. Great quiet spot for some Sunday reflection and conversation. Food was amazing. Only downside was it took a whole for our food to arrive, but no doubt it was worth the wait! 😀

The best!. Great food, great customer service, fast, efficient, amazing coffee (!!), location! We love this place! Will semi regularly go to grab a coffee on our way out to do school/kindy/work run. They are patient with kids, never turning up their nose or making us feel like we should leave if the kids are 'just being kids'. Staff are always so kind and relaxed but professional and happy. Seriously love this place - why go anywhere else?!

Excellent cafe. My family and I all go to lotus quite frequently. The food is great and the coffee is amazing. If you have not tried it yet, you should give it a go, you wont be left disappointed. The staff are lovely we had a function there over the weekend everything was fantastic and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
