Review Dosa Hut - Springfield

Em&Jamie
I gave 2 stars as both my hubby and I enjoyed the starter of tandoori platter. This was very nice. We were given free onion bhajis, apart from being slightly overdone on outside, these were also tasty. However, we waited hour and a half for delivery, when they said it would be an hour. I had chicken pasanda...so disappointed...no flavour, very bland, nothing like a pasanda should be. My naan was overcooked and very crispy and dry (I had peshwari, see photo). Couldn't even eat it. My hubby had the chicken sindhi chilli. He had it Indian hot...was not hot at all, and it had this strong herby after-taste, unsure of which herb but it made the curry inedible. We may try this restaurant again as our friend raved about this place...but it will be a while I think.

Always good to come back to Punjab. The best curry in town. Different with other Indian places, this little joint always make people warm and fuzzy. Friendly customer service, tasty food with a lot of laugh.

Person taking our phone on her got the order wrong and included a dish we did not want. When we got home and saw we had the extra dish and have been charge for it I called out to ask for a refund. I was told no because I had been given the food. When I explained that I have not ordered this dish and did not want it I was told again that I had it so therefore I had to pay for it. This just went around and around in circles. You cannot charge people for food they did not ask for or want and then refuse to acknowledge any wrong doing. We will never go back here and I would advise others not to order from these people.

Good customer service, great quality of food, taste delicious, well presented, fairly big portions for our weight ratio, very busy restaurant with many takeaway orders but even so, the dine in delivery time was within reason. The phone was ringing off the hook and we know why! Once you’ve eaten food from here, you are likely to enjoy another experience one way or another. Surprisingly impressed. We’ll be back. 😋

I have ordered food from this place many times, the food is fantastic and generally consistent, so you know what to expect. The reason I’m writing this is to do with time management. Almost every time I call them and place an order it’s generally 20-25 minute wait, 8 out of 10 times however the order is either incorrect, or they only start making the food when I arrive to pick up the takeaway. We generally are ok with this as it’s usually a 20 minute delay on average over the timeframes they advise when you place the order, as we love the food we accept this. However, last night (15th July) I called and ordered a takeaway at 6:03pm, as usual I advised 20-25 minutes. When I arrived to collect they had no idea of my order. The name was written incorrectly, instead of vindaloo they had it as aloo? Anyway we were told ‘sorry we mixed it up, we will prioritise your order’. I said all good will go into the IGA as we needed a few things. Time is now 7pm, still no food, there were another 3 people waiting and their orders were either wrong, or not started. I asked if my order was actually being made and they said yes it will be 5 minutes. The time is now 7:25pm and people who arrived 45 minutes after my order was meant to be ready, were getting their orders and leaving. I asked where is my order. I was told for the THIRD time ‘sorry we made a mistake, it won’t be long’ I asked them what dishes they are making (I ordered vindaloo and Punjabi curries) and they were making different dishes to what I ordered, They must have given my order to someone else by mistake, they said they will go and make my order. I said forget it. It’s been almost 1.5 hours since I placed the order and still no sign of it and now you want another 20 minutes to go and make it? I walked off extremely frustrated. The food is great, I cannot fault it, but they seem to employ young kids and they can struggle with workload it would appear. I suggest this place either spends time training their young staff. Or employ older people who have more experience, likely comes down to cheap wages and it’s to their detriment if this is the case. I always recommend this place to anyone who wants a good curry. I will never go back after this experience, and will advise people the same. We will try another establishment from now on. The last experience is the straw that broke the camels back, how hard is it to write down 2 curries, rice and samosas? Well it would seem impossible… Anyone reading this, here is my advice. Order at the place, not over the phone, accept a 20 minute wait as it will be far quicker and more accurate than trusting the phone order, for some reason they just cannot get it right first time. Lovely food, unacceptable wait times and very disorganised, they need to invest in staff training to treat this issue of consistently stuffing up telephone orders.

Ordered our food over the phone, girl on the phone was pleasant but very young and inexperienced so order took along time to place, and had to be repeated/corrected several times. Was told it would be 30 mins, went to pick it up after 30 mins had passed, and the order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen yet. Ended up having to cancel the order and go elsewhere Three times in a row something similar has happened now, so wont be going back, which is a shame as we generally enjoyed the food when we eventually got it, just not worth the hassle and long waits

I called to find out how long it'll take to order a dish which they said would take about 25min. I was told "if you want a dish in less than 25min to go to Mc Donalds" I found a really nice Indian place where they served me in less than 15min. Terrible phone manners. Please teach your staff how to talk to customers.

Every single time we order from here it takes so long to get the order and tonight they even forgot to place our order with the chef. It took an hr to get our food and then they gave me the wrong order, so I had to go back. I won’t be going back. It is quicker to order from Forest Lake.

I've been ordering takeaway from there for sometime now, I usually order masala dosa and chicken 65 biryani. Both dishes are awesome to the taste but a tad too oily/ greesy But tastey nonetheless and my partner never leaves left overs. I recently ate inside for lunch, the lady serving was nice but my friends and I were suprised there was no true table service( that we received this day), we did receive water for the table, however was left with the bill/note pad to write our selections down off of the menu we found from another table. My friend ordered Chinese sheschwan noodles, I ordered chicken fried rice and butter chicken to share. The portion size of the side and food was enough to share amongst three adults. The food was I quote "like a bomb of great flavour and texture going off in my mouth" said my friends partner. Highly satisfying in my opinion. It also appears they are expanding which is fabulous. I hope they design it with comfort(to the eyes and bottoms of customers) and class and authenticity in mind. I will definitely return but would appreciate better table services next time.

If you know dosa, you'll love this Dosa Hut. If you don't, you must try it, and this is the place to do it. The food is fresh and delicious. The restaurant can be a bit chaotic at busy times, and the style is more café than fine dining, but that adds to the charm. The staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable.

OMG the Dosa with the sauces are to die for. The curries have so much flavour the saffron rice is amazing. The chocolate Dosa the kids wanted to lick the bowl clean. The kids wanted as much Mango lassi as they where allowed. All in all a great family meal. Thank you to the staff for accommodating so many of us. We will be back.

We had Masala Doas, paper dosa and Idly. Masala Dosa and Idlis are good and very tasty. Rava Dosa was not great. Paper dosa was also ordinary. The chutney's we not good at all. Hope you guys can improove the flavour of your white coconut chutney and tomato chutney as well..... We live in Springfield and hope to make this a regular joint if you can improve your chutney's.

We had Lamb Set Dosa, Chicken set dosa, Vadas. They were excellent in taste making me nostalgic for my home. I would definitely recommend Dosahut Springfield for their excellent service and food quality.

Terrible service today, Dosa hut couldn't serve food to a table of 2 at the same time, had to walk out waiting 20 minutes for the second dosa and there was only 4 people in the restaurant! I had been a regular since this place opened and finally convinced my wife to join me, doubt she will want to come back.

We Had Samosa, Wada, and Sweets. Samosa was a day old with lots of oil. Filling inside samosa is same what you get in Masala Dosa. Wada was way too thick and not cooked from inside. Being a south indian outlet, i hope they should know how to make Wada at least. Lastly Sweets.. Was Ok but not great.

It is now time to update my review. Last time when I had food here, I was pretty much upset because of the tasteless food. A lot of things have improved from my last visit. The taste of the food is much better. The food looks fresh. The servings were quick. Even my non vegetarian friends have enjoyed their meal. The 70mm Dosa was huge. Good enough for a family of three. A mush visit Indian restaurant in the West.

Their vegetarian fried rice is seriously THE BEST I’ve eaten outside India!!!! Just too good and even has the smell of the burnt kadhai (wok) - just too good!!

The entree I had was a little disappointing (the staff tried to fix it which was nice of them) But the mains were tasty. The butter naan bread could have had more butter but otherwise the naans were tasty! The masala chai was delicious!! Unfortunately one of the members of our table ordered her chai to arrive so she could have it with her meal but it didn’t arrive on time. Over all though the staff were friendly and the food was good if it wasn’t for those minor flaws it would have gotten 5 stars!!

Really authentic Dosa and briyani. Dosa is crispy and the chutneys all taste vibrant and different, exciting the palate with every bite from creamy and coconutty to spicy and gingery. The chicken 65 briyani is like digging through a mountain of fluffy yellow rice to find nuggets of well seasoned and spicy chicken. I eat there almost once a week.
