Review Nam Son Restaurant - Springvale

Authentic flavours, well patronised by locals after they finish work in Springvale and big serves. The decor is 60’s kitchen but seriously the food really is good. Spring rolls and rice paper rolls for entree followed by fried chicken ribs in chilli sauce. Entrees were presented with sauce and lettuce leaves for wrapping - tasty and not too heavy. My chicken ribs dish was big, seriously big and thankfully I had assistance from my friends to finish eating the moist tasty fried pieces. Service was friendly and efficient - how did she remember everything? We will be back.

Restaurant overcharged me and would not accommodate discussions to resolve the issue. Menu listen an item at $12 however i was charged $17. Another item was listed for $10 and she charged me extra for all of those without explaining why. I substituted the meat in one of the dishes for another meat, and was not told there would be any additional incurred costs. Very unprofessional. When trying to discuss with the lady at the counter she simply said ‘well what do u want me to do about it then?’ Very unprofessional and lazy work ethic from that lady. Do not recommend this place at all.

Good Vietnamese food at a value price. Lots of selection besides my favourite which is "Special Broken Rice Combination". Definitely a must visit if your in Springvale area. As they are located away from the main Springvale shopping area parking is easier to get.

Introduced to this place by a couple of friends of mine. Typically used to go into Springvale central for Vietnamese food but will definitely be coming here more often now that I know about it!

Restaurant is nestled in housing area at Windsor Av in Springvale. Food is ok...we ordered dishes however the salt spicy prawns is filled with tons of batter. 5 mid size dishes with a tub of rice adds up to $21 per pax. Place looks a bit run down...

Actual Rating: 3.5

Went here for Lunch with Colleagues, the place is situated away from the busy Springvale shopping area which is more preferable imo. The decor is pretty jaded and furniture is very basic as well. We were seated straight away and provided Tea & Menu's. The service was fairly rushed imo as the waitress came over within a few minutes of providing the menu's. We requested her to come back in a few mins and there she was back again soon after. Picked a dish with the help of my mate who had been here before. The Seafood Fried rice noodles were made well, the noodles had a nice flavor to them and the veggies were all nice & fresh with nice crunch to them. I wasn't too pleased with the amount of Seafood on it as i found it to be a bit meager. Overall, the place is all right. Might try a different menu item the next time.

This restaurant is a really nice one in Springvale. Great food; I love the mud crab, Cambodian Style Noodle Soup, and the Vietnamese Pancake. Clean bathrooms, TV, music, and lots of table seating inside. The outside table is wobbly, and unstable so I wouldn't recommend to sit outside. When you ask the staff for something, they would most likely get it, but sometimes they are too busy to do it. Overall, good service. Would come again!

First time here, was too crowded in the heart of Springvale today and found this place nearby for the daily dose. Decent size serving, a tiny oily, good flavour, brisket and beef balls a teeny bit salty but overall a good pho dac biet. Will go again.

Away from central Springvale, this place has been here for at least 25 years. It does all the basic Chinese/Vietnamese dishes at affordable prices. As with a lot of these type of restaurants, some do certain dishes better than others, that of which you'll learn from experience/word of mouth. Broken rice, prawn and pork rice noodle soup and others keep the cravings at bay. I wouldn't say they are the best variations I've had however.

Terrible customer service. All that you can think of that could go wrong, went wrong. Service tea was not hot, durian smoothie was ordinary, more taste of sugar than durian. 2 of our 8 dishes never arrived. When told, the "new" staff seemed lost initially but after a while keeps saying it will come. Even when paying for our bill, there is a mix up with the total, no good communication between staff and cashier. A combination of many customers, new under trained staff, ordinary but average to above average prices and just edible food... Avoid the salt and pepper fried chicken ribs/wings. The batter is thick and oily. First bad experience in Australia after 20 years that needs mentioning. Of course, owners/cashier was oblivious about their level of service. Oh, toilet sink was blocked too.

Been coming to this restaurant for many years since I lived in Victoria. Always fresh food and wonderful service. Recently visited after living overseas - the service was amongst the worst I've experienced world wide! Absolutely disgusted. Cold soup and food was terrible. Overpriced; and when complained to the owner she didn't care. One to cross off my list & I won't be back!

Make sure you check the prices when you order their recommended specials. I feel like the waitress was deliberately misleading and we ended up paying fine dining prices for food court quality dishes.

The best pho. Love the beef pho here (Number 1 on the menu). The broth is always beautiful, lovely staff and only $8.50 to eat in

Located away from the main area of springvale, this stand alone restaurant seems to be oddly situated. However, the food is fresh and generous in portions. Also they don't try to kick you out he door like hoa tran. The $7 tomato rice fried chicken special at the moment is def a cheap delight. Give this place a go n u mite b pleasantly surprised :)
