Review Sister Of Soul - St Kilda

Wow! What a range of vegetarian food! And definitely a place to suit non vegetarians as the wide array of food will definitely satisfy all preferences. Asian through to Mexican inspired dishes. Great friendly service too! Indoor and outdoor seating available Will return to try more of the menu!

Great little find! Lots of plant based dishes to choose from mostly with an Asian twist. We got the okinomiyaki to start, I had the zen bowl and 15 mushroom drink. Staff were friendly, dishes came out quickly and the interior design was stylish! Loved this place !

We enjoyed a mid week dinner here and although they don’t take bookings after 5pm, on this occasion we were lucky enough to get a table straight away. We had the Vietnamese Style Spring Rolls, Green Gyoza Dumplings, Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pancake), Spaghetti Bolognese and Red Falafel Bowl (from the specials list) The service was friendly and the food was super fresh! We especially liked the Spring Rolls and Spaghetti - with two out of the three of us not being vegetarian, you seriously did not notice the absence of meat here!

Full disclosure, I’m not a vegan, or vegetarian. That being said, fully enjoyed the meal at Sister of Soul. Nasi Goreng was great. Food presentation was excellent. Accessibility Info: easy no step entrance. Various tables including high-top and regular movable seats and bench seating.

Wide range of cuisines and vegan meals. A favourite of mine! Really enjoyed the cocktail Specials menu with a Jaffa martini!

Forget that it’s vegan or vegetarian, those are good things, just come for the taste. I had the burrito and it was absolutely delicious. Very filling. The staff are great too.

Visited over the weekend at the St Kilda branch of Sister of Soul. Service was a bit of a mixed bag as we were given menus when we first walked in but then had no one approach us for ages to take our order. Once ordered, our meals came out very quickly. I ordered the burrito which was dry, which I think the avocado on the side would have been better inside the wrap. My friends were happy with their meals, so I must have just had a dud. Once we finished, we had to wait a while again to ask for the bill. We tried many times to make eye contact with the servers but they just seemed to continuously walk past without notice until I raised by voice at one walking past to grab their attention, as eye contact was not enough. They split the bill which is good. Parking available on the street or just down the road at the Palais Theatre.

Most disgusting food I've had in my life. Like sure, I'm not vegan but still didn't think anyone could screw up smashed avo on toast. Also bought a mushroom toastie, even my dog wouldn't it eat, and he literally eats vomit. As for the toast itself? The lack of flavour aside, even the fork hated it (see pic attached) How the hell does a fork bend like that trying to pierce bread?! If this is what the "future" looks like, I'll stick to slaughtering and eating animals, thanks.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I came here with a friend Who is totally vegetarian. I was walking in st kilda and said I’m sure there is one close by. I google and found these place, it was amazing<br/><br/>I told the waiter what my two options where and she said the green curry if you like spice. Well I love spice and I loved this curry. It was one of the best green curries I’ve had in a long time. <br/><br/>I forget what my friend had spring rolls and something els. But she smashed it and said she loved ever mouthful.<br/><br/>I had a chia it was nice highly recommend this place for two of us with drinks was around 50 not bad!

Delicious food and attentive service. Could not fault this place at all. The ambience and vibe of this place is great. Highly recommend.

Vegetarian / vegan restaurant. Richmond and st kilda locations. Dined at Sister of Soul for dinner and although not a vegetarian or vegan I throughly enjoyed the meal. <br/>🍽 salt and pepper tofu, raw lasagne and XO noodle stir fry. You don’t even notice the dishes don’t contain meat and they are all very well executed. Very good food.

Visited the Richmond outlet on a public holiday. The place is nice and cosy. We ordered the famous Seven Veg Lasagne and regular fries. The food, to my disappointment, wasn’t upto my expectations. The chips and lasagne looked and tasted stale, as if they were made days before and were just warmed before serving. <br/>Overall the experience was disappointing and did not live up to the hype.

It's a Saturday afternoon and what better then nice vegetarian meal! We had bookmarked the place for a visit based on the reviews. Being vegetarian it is hard to get impressed by vegetarian food here, but we were surprised to see the options and the place was busiest in the street! <br/><br/>All the plates we ordered were perfect, and we relished the food! I would love to go back for some more and try other dishes. The raw lasagne I had was something different and very unique in taste!

Customer service: 9.0<br/>Layout and ambiance: 8.8<br/>Taste: 8.5<br/>Nutrition: 8.5<br/>Pricing: 8.5<br/><br/>“Small but cosy, with a touch of green and freshness.”<br/>Deliciously wholesome plant-based foods sure to make your taste buds sing.<br/>Undoubtedly a MUST-TRY for all the vegans and health-conscious foodies out there - it is definitely a cafe that will not disappoint. <br/>Guilt-free breakfast, brunch and lunch cafe.<br/><br/>Ambiance<br/>Situated on the corner of a street of restaurants, this cafe certainly is not one that will catch your eye at first glance. As soon as we set foot inside, the small but cosy interior instantly made me feel at home. Perfect for the casual late morning brunch catch-up, or a sweet late-arvo couple date.<br/><br/>Customer service<br/>As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the cheerful staff working there. They were extremely nice, friendly and helpful for the entire hour we were there.<br/><br/>Food<br/>Do not let the small size of the cafe fool you into thinking it is just an ordinary cafe. Quite the opposite, it is anything but - from vegan pancakes and scrambled tofu, to nourishing buddha bowls and asian stir-fries, the menu has you covered for breakfast and lunch.<br/>We chose to go with the falafel bowl and the green sister stir-fry with tahini dressing. I must say - it did not disappoint at all. Filled with all the veggies (braised cauliflower, roasted capsicum, mildly spicy but utterly satisfying falafels, pickled cucumbers, lima beans, bok choy, bamboo shoots and tofu just to name a few), it is sure to fill you up with nutritional goodness while bringing your stomach the happiness it deserves - a double win-win!

Had a coffee here in the afternoon!<br/><br/>The interior is small & simple, which I really liked<br/><br/>DRINK<br/>Flat white with almond milk: Not my favourite coffee, I believe because of the milk that was used.<br/><br/>The staff were polite & friendly. The coffee came out quickly

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/><br/>Solid 4.<br/><br/>The service and the vibe was excellent and the main courses were brilliant, delicious and fresh. It’s all<br/>vegan, veggie plant based but even a diehard meat eater would enjoy the food on offer here. Only thing that let the place down was the price, charging $12 for 4 small pieces of tofu is a bit ridiculous. Although it’s overpriced the food was all very tasty and it’s worth a visit. Expect to wait an hour for a table at the weekend.

st.kilda institution. a great venue, great people, great vibes and great value... did i say it was great?

Great place! Delicious food (especially the jack black burger - would recommend). Just a little pricey but other than that, a great place for lunch with friends!

Love Sister of Soul! It seems to be very popular too, whatever time of the day it is when I walk past it's always busy. <br/><br/>My friend and I just shared several starters and have a couple of cocktails to go with it. My highlight was the Salt and Pepper Tofu. The sichuan combined with the chilli jam made for a super tasty dish. I only wish it was bigger! <br/><br/>I've heard the breakfast's are great too, so will definitely come in to try them out too.
Vivian Vo
Very nice food. Offers a lot of options for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian. I ordered the bibimbap and it was really good, the pickled vegetables went really well with the rice and everything. The only thing was the tofu wasn't as nice and crispy as I thought it'd be and that the prices were a bit much (though we were in st kilda) Otherwise everything was fine, the staff are incredibly nice.
The Vegan Foodie
Nice decor with open space and atmosphere. Friendly and quick service. <br/><br/>Ordered scrambled eggs on toast and a vegan big breakfast. Food was quite underwhelming for the cost. Bit bland but the potato & rosemary Rosti was the stand out item.<br/><br/><br/>The almond mylk tastes earthy and probably not for those who like commercially based almond milk. My partner did like it though. <br/><br/>Probably wouldn’t rush to come back to eat here but nice place to sit.
Shane
I have given this restaurant a couple of chances and while the service is quick and friendly the food hasn’t quite satisfied. It’s not that it’s terrible but each time there have been issues with elements on the plate that have made the meal less enjoyable. My parter and I had our last meal there this week. We were quite surprised when it arrived at our table in less than 10 mins. We ordered the vegan burger and burrito and while they were edible it quickly became apparent how they arrived to us in such a short time. The burrito was bland and quite soggy due to the contents steaming during their time in the microwave. My partners mushroom and lentil patty had a very thin crisp on the outside but raw and pastie on the inside which I’m guessing was caused by deep frying it. The onion ring sides were actually really good & so was the sauce on the burger.

We decided Sister of Soul was the perfect place for a healthy lunch on a cold Wednesday afternoon. We were seated by friendly staff immediately in the light bright interior (with a sneaky view of Luna Park). <br/><br/>Specialising is vegetation, vegan, gluten free, nut free and raw meals, those with dietary requirements won’t be disappointed! We ordered:<br/><br/>(1) The Bibimbap Nutrition Bowl (marinated tofu, kimchi, salted cucumber, picked carrot and daikon, bean shoots, shiitake mushrooms, seaweed salad on brown rice w/ bibi hotsauce) and the<br/>(2) Sweet Potato Bowl (sweet potato coated, coriander seeds, red aleppo on ancient grains w/ broad beans, middle eastern cheese (almond feta available), toasted walnuts, rainbow chard, fresh herbs and a preserved lemon dressing)<br/><br/>We absolutely couldn’t get enough of either dish, both being well-balanced and full of flavour! YUM!!<br/><br/>Overall, this restaurant’s plant-based meals aim to promote compassion and seek a more sustainable planet. A must visit for their scrumptious global fare!!!!

In need of a feed with friends from interstate, we headed to Sister of Soul to try the range of vegetarian dishes for breakfast. The service was attentive and friendly and the coffee definitely hit the spot. Browsing the menu, there were so many options to choose from it was hard to decide what to order. I settled on the big breakfast to sample a bit of everything. The poached eggs were cooked well but the rosti was a let down. The potato and sweet potato rosti was overloaded with rosemary and was doughy.
Delbosqueviviana
Extensive menu and kind staff, however coffee was cold and waited an hour for our meal. Polenta chips were yummy and the jungle curry was flavorsome, but definitely more of a stir fry than a curry.
Josh Mancusi-Thomas
Ate here on a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and accomodating. However meals were cold and so was coffee.

Actual Rating: 3.5 <br/><br/>Sister of Soul a cult classic for all vegetarians/vegans but also others. <br/>On arrival we were seated at a lovely table next to the window. Service unfortunately was slow when asking for beverages and requesting service to order our food was disappointing when the place was dwindling in numbers. <br/>For entree Polenta Jenga and Green Gyoza Dumplings were our choice which were both delicious, the polenta jenga being a personal favourite with a fantastic purée. For mains we enjoyed the Thai Green Curry, Gnocchi, Jack Black Burger and Raw Spaghetti Bolognese. The thai green curry was a delight however slightly saddened by the fact we had to add rice on the side as I believe this should be a staple with curry. The gnocchi was nice enough along with a delicious jackfruit burger which was our personal favourite. The raw spaghetti was also very yummy. <br/>In overall the food was a delight however the service let the the entire experience down with our coffee beverages only arriving once the mains had arrived.

After a flavour packed dinner? STOP ✋ you've just found it! @sisterofsoulstkilda <br/><br/>VEGAN + VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT....<br/>I ordered the Udon Noodle Sister Stir-Fry 🍜<br/><br/>A BEAUTIFUL bowl of udon noodles, stir fried king brown mushrooms, choi sum, crispy topped with black sesame and snow pea tendrils 🌶🥗🍜🍃<br/><br/>I can’t wait to go back and try more of their delicious menu!!

Amazing vegetarian café in the middle of St. Kilda. Many healthy and tasty options for brunch and lunch as well. Even though they offer pretty much the same than the surrounding coffee shops, you can tell that each ingredient has been carefully selected and the quality is way above average. A bit pricey but the quality of the food totally worth it. The only downside was the quality of coffee itself. Not very impressive considering the rest of the food.

Innovative vegetarian (vo) eatery.<br/><br/>Had to wait a bit on a Tuesday afternoon as it was packed but wasnt long. Staffs were friendly, and food was a reasonable wait. The place was pretty nice, just a tad bit cramped.<br/><br/>Was recommended old school vegan burger and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the combination of the flavours and texture, definitely not meaty but I still enjoyed it. Onion ring was perfect tho.<br/><br/>Rawsagna was also enjoyable as it had lots of different texture, tasted quite like lasagna minus the cheese and meat. Definitely felt healthy lol.<br/><br/>Lastly, the stir-fry noodle was okay, the least enjoyable of the bunch. The flavour and texture was fine, but the sriracha was too overpowering and definitely spicy.<br/><br/>I loved the LSD though, tasted bit like chai but slightly more flowery, and just so milky.<br/><br/>Overall a great place for some innovative vegetarian/vegan food!<br/><br/>( follow for more!✨)<br/><br/>xx,joelle

Extremely tasty and creative combination of plant base elements, nice simple presetation. Main dish and burger were really good. The seasoning of the salad was nicely balanced. Service also prompt and fast. Highly raccomend!

A very hip hang out on the corner of Acland street, right near Luna Park. It has an amazing atmosphere at night especially when Luna Park is open and all lit up! The menu has variety and most or all meals can be made vegan. The bibimbap bowl is my healthy fave whilst the burgers and burritos are my guilty pleasure 👇🏻

This place is so good, I have a friend that recently became a vegetarian and we have been really keen to try this place. The green thai curry was soooo good, so full of flavour and a good bit of spice. I would definitely recommend this place!

Firstly, the food is great. It's the service that repeatedly lets down this restaurant that I'm compelled to share. Waiters seem disinterested and unfriendly but there was more.<br/>Today, upon leaving,  I asked if I was going to be charged a credit card fee to which they responded yes. I replied it would be nice to be told rather than being unknowingly charged. Two waiters then responded emphatically saying it's on the menu. I said " where?" I was told it was in the third line of the fine print down the bottom. Then the main waiter I was talking to just walks away as if she wasn't interested. I then had to continue my conversation with the other waiter. I said, " Do you really expect your customers to read the fine print?"  He said, "I always read the fine print"  as he turned his back on me. I replied, "You really should advise people of these charges rather than assuming they've read it. I'm just giving you some feedback." He was also disinterested and continued doing what he was doing.<br/>I then said, "You know I really like your food but this conversation is enough for me never to return" He didn't even acknowledge my comment and we left.<br/>So here I am writing this review.<br/>And one more thing, they really need to either wash or replace their green dustpan and broom. It's disgusting and looks like it had mould growing on it. Not a good look.

Lovely place and interior, and having it so close to the beach just adds that extra calming ambiance. Staff was very friendly too!<br/><br/>Had their Lasagna. It was a very interesting and creative take, though could be made better possibly with more spice addition. My friend had their curry with roti and it was delicious!

Located perfectly in the Heart of St Kilda, this cafe have got lots of diverse flavours to binge upon!<br/>We ordered for two starters <br/>Salt n pepper tofu- The perfectly cooked tofu with all the bouncing flavours was just right for our palates <br/>Bbq mushrooms Bao Bun- The buns were super soft, not a big fan of Mushrooms <br/>Jack Black Burger-was expecting the jackfruit patty, but it had the shredded one. The flavours were not put in jeopardy for sure <br/>Over all we had good food, found little expensive but will definitely comeback to try some more

Terrible customer service. Terribly rude waitress. Clearly the kind of place that doesn’t need any new customers! And the tables were also grubby. Big disappointment!

#VEGAN FRIENDLY# Almost everything on the menu is vegan, there is a good range of food, and the food is of great quality. Entree - The tofu was cooked to perfection with a tangy chilli sauce on greens. Mains 1 - The burger was both mild and fresh. The vegan cheese was made from cashews and it tasted great, lots of fresh salad, and a side of onion rings. Main 2 - the veggie stir fry was fresh and crunchy, as well as saucy (there is a choice of sauces) plenty of veggies and rice. The sticky date pudding , made from spelt had a rum/raisin ice cream and an awesome crunchy “not-honeybcomb”. Just realised that regular honeycomb probably doesn’t have honey in it because it tasted identical. The service was exceptional, our table was regularly cleaned and water replaced. Friendly staff who made lots of great suggestions. We’re coming here again!!!!

Delicious food right in the heart of St. Kilda! Love the amazing vegan options - their menu is extensive and the options are soooo delicious, it’s hard to decide what to have!<br/><br/>Absolute fave thing I’ve had from there is the carrot cake pancakes - such an inspired idea that tasted like heaven! Amazing options on UberEats too which have saved me at all day workshops!<br/><br/>Lovely vibe and it’s beautiful to sit outside on a sunny day and people watch. Definitely recommend.

Food was amazing and very well decorated. I had the Nasi Goreng and now I could not stop thinking about it. The menu was very extensive and had a lot of options from many different cuisines. As much as I loved the food, service was a bit iffy. Some of the waiters and waitress were very nice but some seemed a bit otherwise. But general, would definitely go back to try more dishes!
Suhujana
Portions are really big & tasty! Staff might seem a bit slow but the order was quickly prepared. This is a pretty popular place. They have interesting offers of coffee :)

Good big breakfast plate, scrambled eggs were cooked very well and sides were fresh too. Loved the pumpkin latte, first time I have tried it.

Some definite hits and some definite misses.<br/>Hits: The Moroccan salad is sublime. Complex, generous with the expensive ingredients (lots of herbs and pistachios, not just bulked up with quinoa) and every element is perfectly cooked and seasoned (and there's a lot of elements!)<br/>The pasta sauce. So full of flavour and well seasoned<br/>The sticky date pudding. The accompaniments elevate a very well executed classic. <br/>The chips - like good fish and chip shop ones.<br/>Misses: The pho wasn't served hot enough and maybe it's because I'm used to a beef stock but it didn't taste savoury enough.<br/>The BBQ jackfruit burger was so so.<br/>The gnocchi was a little dense.<br/>Juices aren't juiced to order, but are done in batches every morning, so if you're used to fresh juice, they taste oxidised.<br/>The chocolate tart: I loathe deserts that are overly sweet, and usually never order chocolate deserts for that very reason but the description on the menu of bitter chocolate, sour cherries and coffee cream sounded sophisticated and to my taste. ....but this one had absolutely no sweetness to it which made it unpleasant. It is the very first time I have ever encountered a desert that I thought needed sugar. The sweetest thing on the plate was the sour cherries, but even their sweetness was overwhelmed by the bitterness of everything else.<br/><br/>In summary:<br/><br/>I love how expansive the menu is, I like their wine selection, I like the way the windows open up to make you feel like you're dining alfresco on a hot night. I like the service, always quick and friendly and many of the dishes are truly, truly impressive. Particularly their salads. You will never have a bad dish here. You may have a mediocre one. If you do, my advice would be to give them another chance. The misses aren't offensive, and the hits are so worth it.<br/>.
Quince And Cheese
What a privilege to be able to order off such an extensive and fully vegan/vego menu. I love everything I've ever tried from Sister of Soul and am so excited they're opening a second location near my house. I especially love the gyoza, which have a slightly meaty filling and are somewhere between steamed and fried. The spring rolls also make a nice starter, as do the delicious polenta chips with cauliflower cream. Staff are lovely, space is bright and always busy, so best to come outside of peak times.
Maryke Fry
Food was not bad a bit overpriced though. The service was by far the worst I've experienced. My Almond Latte was sour and had to settle for a soy latte. They had no sweetener either so had a bitter coffee. Got my coffee with a very dirty spoon, some brown stuff on it, no idea what it was, it's disgusting and the waitresses were very slow we had to waive to them a few times to get their attention after waiting for a very long time, it's like a clip from Gordon's kitchen nightmares. I thought we were dead, because they could not see us and then at last someone did. Thank goodness for that because i would have died of hunger at that point anyway. They don't even check on you to see if your happy with the food. I will not recommend this restaurant.

Love a great veggie restaurant!! I have been here a couple of times now and would love to go back and try some more dishes!<br/><br/>So far I have had some delicious vegan wine and a couple of appetisers for dinner. The salt and pepper tofu was fantastic, and I couldn’t go wrong with the falafel and hummus. Super fresh, tasty and satisfying food! <br/><br/>Attached are some photos of my more recent visit. I tried the gyoza, spring rolls and the polenta Jenga stack. Absolutely delicious. You can see how fresh and tasty the food is!<br/><br/>The atmosphere is great there too. I love that there is such a HUGE vegie menu available. SO many options for us veggie lovers!!

For some odd reason, Zomato seems to have relinked the Richmond location to this St Kilda one. In this case - FYI this was my experience at Sister of Soul, Richmond!<br/><br/>Ordered:<br/>🍟 Polenta Jenga (vegan, gluten free & nut free optional): Crispy polenta chips, cauliflower puree, sage and cashew parmesan ($13.50)<br/>🍝 Spicy black bean udon noodle stir fry (vegan & nut free): gailan, shiitake, spring onion, carrot, sugar snaps and tofu. Stir fried in a spicy chinese black bean sauce, with black sesame and snowpea tendrils and topped with spicy sriracha sauce ($19.00)<br/>🍹 Watermelon Crush: watermelon, orange, strawberries, mint ($7.50)<br/><br/>Review:<br/>Sister of Soul is fully vegan and vegetarian, which means you can bring anyone and everyone!<br/><br/>Polenta Jenga was a great starter. Cauliflower puree was different, and fried sage gave a great salty flavour whilst combined with the cashew I got that good soft (polenta) and hard (cashew) texture.<br/><br/>Spicy black bean Udon Noodle Stir Fry was yum - I wanted something saucy similar to korean black bean noodles and got that saucey, chewy texture I wanted from the noodles/<br/>Tofu was delicious and udon noodles adding that thiccccness. Although, there was a bit too much oil(?) at the bottom which made me a little uncomfy but the flavour was there 👊<br/><br/>My mate's Green Sister stir-dry dish with satay sauce was far lacklustre in comparison and he couldn't finish his. I had a bite and it was't great in flavour... this inconsistency in experience doesn't reflect nicely.<br/><br/>Overall, great modern place with an open environment. Service was friendly and they let me and my mates sit in the restaurant until it was late. We felt no rush to leave from the staff and I am very thankful for that.
AnotherAsianAbroad
Not sure what the hype is but maybe we were just unlucky? Service was non existent. We’d sat down for a good 20 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted drinks. We had to flag down the waitress after this point.<br/><br/>I opted for the pumpkin and toast dish as I had seen it on Instagram however when it came to me it was served with the SMALLEST piece of pumpkin (see photo). There was probably 2-3 bites of pumpkin. It was smaller than the small slice of toast. The bread tasted stale and not fresh. Definitely not worth $16 at all.<br/><br/>The only good thing was the mushroom latte however expensive. <br/><br/>Disappointing visit despite the reviews. Don’t think I’ll be returning in a hurry
Ashy
Came here for the first time recently and loved it ! I ordered a vegan gnocchi and it was absolutely delightful ! Mind you I am not vegan or vegetarian but I really enjoyed the dish as it was bouncing with flavours ! I will definitely be back to try the other dishes !
Bethany
Would give another go, however I had the tofu burger and was disappointed, fake cheese was plasticy and left a funny taste in my mouth for hours. Friends lunch however was a Thai green curry which was delicious!! Coffees weren’t hot enough and milk all separated, not something you’d expect from a cafe specialising in non dairy milks
Melanie Potter
Food had great flavours. Chilled, welcoming atmosphere. I had the sister's one big breakfast and it was delicious. The rosti and tomato ksundi (relish) were SO yummy, mushrooms well seasoned. My husband loved his burrito. Our drinks - immunity juice and latte - were yummy too.
That Vegan Dad
Following all the hype of this place I was pretty disappointed with what I experienced.<br/><br/>Our coffees came out lukewarm and the size of the meals were a letdown. The frenchtoast was only two corners of a piece of toast and who honestly leaves the green on strawberries?? And the ‘big’ breakfast was a little lacklustre too.<br/><br/>The flavours and decor’ were all fine, as well as the service, but when you have hot competition across the road I think I would rather go to Matcha Myllbar.
Amara
Totally love this place and definitely recommend to everyone (not just vegetarians)!<br/><br/>I came here with two others on a busy, sunny Saturday. We were seated straight away and given menus. The waitress was kind but overall quite slow in taking orders. Plus our food and drinks took an unusually long time to come out - something I'll overlook for this place though.<br/><br/>I ordered the Mediterranean Brekkie Bowl ($19) plus added Marinated Tofu ($4) and loved every minute of it! the tabouli worked really well with the tofu and pickled turnips. And the eggplant mixed with the cucumber and tomato salad, plus that dressing just elevated its freshness. The tofu was a great decision for some added protein and texture too! Left me feeling satisfied but wanted more of its deliciousness.<br/>I also got the AB & J smoothie (($12) with added Maca ($1) and really liked this too. It wasn't overly sweet as some smoothies are and was super thick (which I like). It is a little expensive, but justifiable with the protein and hemp seeds which are in it I think.<br/><br/>The other two loved their dishes but a let down was the Mango Lassi ($11) only because it really wasn't a lassi. There was no tang and was definitely too thick to be one. It's really a smoothie in my opinion. However, would really enjoy returning here to try out more of the menu!
Diamond Nuts
Quick lunch and coffee had here half way through a bike ride. Was able to sit outside at the front and keep an eye on my bike. Coffee was on point , quite enjoyable. Had deep fried cauliflower that was very tasty, not oily, served on a tomato style chutney thick sauce. Very tasty. I would go back😋

Went here for a good lunch and I got a good lunch. So many vegan options that it’s kind of overwhelming. Smoothies were refreshing. I enjoyed my meal
Tracey @ NoWongFood
We dined on a Monday night with 10 people. It was busy and almost full for the heart of St Kilda!<br/><br/>Polenta chips were done better than other places. I usually find polenta chips too dry and this one wasn’t! <br/>The thick Chips reminded me from the fish and chips shop, but better. Fried cauliflower was good thick in batter though. <br/>I had the udon with Asian black bean flavours. I asked for the sriracha sauce to be separated just because I don’t know how heavy handed they would be. It turned out ok with the sriracha sauce! I did dip some sriracha for a kick at odd bites here and there<br/><br/>Veggies were fresh! But I wished they could get rid of the fly issue. There were a lot of flies that day. Minimal issue as we can wave them away, but a little annoying when it came to socialising over the dining table.<br/><br/>Overall, I enjoyed my time at sister of soul, we had a great time and the food was very vibrant. Didn’t even feel like I was at a vegetarian restaurant. There were so many options!
Always Hungry
A group of us came to Sister of Soul for a catch-up lunch and, since a few of us are vegos, it seemed like a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. We all shared some edamame and I had the dhal with roti. A couple of the other dishes in the photos are the gnocchi and the black bean udon noodle stir fry.<br/>Everything was great, the place was pretty busy when we came so we had to wait around 30 minutes for a table but it quietened down later in the afternoon.<br/>Staff were nice and it's a perfect location in the heart of St Kilda. I'll be back!
Jumpingjojo99
Healthy and delicious food and drinks, the ‘rawsagna’ is a masterpiece and the hazelnut hot chocolate was really nourishing. An excellent vegetarian option, best thing in Acland St at the moment
Savvy And Lifestyle
Came here for dinner tonight, lovely atmosphere this place was definitely thriving. Sister of soul what a lovely name it suits with their food, as I had the soul of Gnocchi tonight that's for sure. Was very tasty and very warming to me, quite some creative and delicious meals on the menu that will leave you satisfied.
Roxy1997_sarah
Staff were quite nice. Experienced an issue with the meal, but the owner was super nice and went out of his way to make sure the problem was resolved and that I was happy! Really good service
Hungrylittleshrew
A classic vegetarian icon of Melbourne. <br/><br/>I can never fault the food here! Having tried the Chocolate Banana Pancakes, Vegan French Toast, Udon Noodle Stir Fry and Raw Vegan Bolognese, I can safely say I can guarantee this place is a no-fail breakfast, lunch and dinner location for anyone. <br/><br/>Also, the coffee is a highlight - offering a range of plant based milks, wowing me every time with it's delicious house made hazelnut milk which is a must try. <br/><br/>Despite my rave reviews of the coffee and food, I cannot help but complain about the lacking value for customer service within the staff here, although the food does make up for it! <br/><br/>It would also help if they offered split bills! :)

Always love coming to this place. Place is always so busy, so you must book if you want to get in. Food is always great and really fresh. Also, love the vibe and its in a great location down by Luna Park and the beach.

Love the ambience and setting. Was quite difficult to locate the place. Other than that, I LOVE THEIR FOOD. Middle eastern smashed pumpkin and Hot chocolate in hazelnut milk are my absolutely favourite!<br/><br/>Very few cafes and restaurants in Melbourne care about social good, healthy and clean eating. I’m glad to have found a restaurant that sets the bar for many new joints in town.

I’ve been here a few times and I’m never disappointed. Good quality food, generally big portions and very attentive service. It is a little bit more pricey but considering its location & quality of food & service I don’t mind paying a bit more. Lots of good options for dietary requirements.

I love this place!! When you walk in, you get a whiff of the aroma from everyone's food and that can make it difficult to choose what to order for yourself. When I finally settled with the bibimbap after devouring the dumplings and cauliflower pakora, the lack of Korean fried chicken was soon forgotten and I scoffed down this wonderful bowl of nutrition-filled goodness. Vego or not, you are bound to find something delicious that would satisfy any level of hunger. If you haven't yet been, you MUST VISIT

Love this place. Cafe by day and casual restaurant by night. Never been disappointed. Good range of healthy delicious foods with an international slant - everything from curry to stir fry to burgers. Most items vegan or can be made vegan. Great service too.
Split The Bill
I had a delicious takeaway ice latte from here today. Great value at $4.50 which included a double shot. Great location, it was busy. Unfortunately, they don't split the bill.

We have been going to SoS for several years. Probably been about 20 times. Tonight the food was ordinary and the service shocked us. Let me explain. The waiter taking our order was friendly enough and crouched beside our table asking for our preferences...he memorised it. Suffice to say one of the dishes did not arrive. So OK that is not too bad as they had it to us pretty quickly. However, I am restricted in what I can eat  and up to recently (when the menu changed) had no trouble ordering at SoS tonight asked for a side bowl of chips. The waiter said "sorry we are only serving chips with the burgers" We explained that I had limited choices and could they please give me a bowl of chips. The waiter asked the chef (presumably) who would not prepare a bowl of chips for me. I can tell you I rarely get angry...but tonight the steam was coming out of my ears. Its appalling service to deny someone a bowl to eat when they are otherwise restricted. We will not go back to SoS ever and neither will the people who we were with. There are plenty of other options now for Vegans and we shall be frequenting them more often.
Ruin A Dish
I wouldn't recommend their take on nasi goreng. It was surprisingly bland and flavourless, with all the ingredients of nasi goreng thrown together, but without ending up as the dish I so often enjoy in Malaysian restaurants.<br/>I've yet to try anything else on the menu, so will reserve any further judgement.

Absolute must for vegetarian diners as well as those wanting to try something new and healthy. Super lively due to the vibrant St Kilda location and great for both breakfast and dinner.
FoodHedonist
Great vegetarian food. Good variety and I didn't miss meat at all. I tried their tofu scramble. It was surprisingly full of flavour given tofu could be so bland. Coffee was up to Melbourne standard too. Hope there are more cafes like this then eating vegetarian wouldn't be so hard.

I would be keen to return to Sister of Soul.  We had a great spread of starters and really enjoyed our curries.  I would love to go back to try more because a vegetarian restaurant is always a tyranny of choice.  It was great to eat meals full of lots of flavour and vegies.  If only we lived closer, I would be back for the breakfast menu.
Foodception
I love sister of soul. The food is innovative, healthy and tasty! The staff are always friendly.<br/><br/>My favourite dish: Raw Spaghetti Bolognese! The mushroom and walnut mince is amazing. What a fantastic vegan alternative to the classic spaghetti bolognese. I would definitely recommend it! I also tried the Jack Black burger. The slow cooked jack fruit, paired with the awesome bbq flavours and crunchy slaw make this dish a winner!

Popular vegetarian restaurant in prime spot in st kilda. Decor is lovely, really pleasant place to hang out and enjoy a meal. Went with two friends and all three of us were pleased with our food. There’s no real set cuisine style, except that it’s all vegetarian. So we had in the one meal a burrito and a curry. Lots of options!

Love the food here and order takeaway quite regularly however for some reason the prices are going up while the portions are getting smaller. Please explain.

Well I guess this restaurant doesn’t really need a review! Been there a couple of times and both times tried different dishes! Full of flavor, colorful, healthy and tasty food. Could go there more often if I was living locally 😊

Sister of Soul would probably have to be one of my favourite restaurants. I usually get the green sister stir-fry with tahini. My only criticism is that I seem to remember the portions being much bigger, they’re still big but I remember them being massive.
Delightfullytasty
Sister of Soul prides itself on being a vegan/vegetarian establishment, along with having gluten free, raw foods and no garlic/onion options. The restaurant also gives tonnes of food waste and coffee grinds to the St Kilda Veg Out Community Gardens, to enrich the soil and help grow veggies, fruits and herbs. We had a really enjoyable experience at Sister of Soul, and it's a great example of how vegan and vegetarian dishes can be delicious and full of flavour, despite not having certain elements to it that we'd usually be used to having. Definitely worth a try!

Amazing vegan food! Definitely will be coming back for more. I had the massaman curry and my friend had the udon stir fry both of the foods were super tasty! I’m not exaggerating but its definitely one of the best vegan restaurants in Melbourne 😍

This forever busy 'Vegetarian Only' restaurant is 5 minutes from where we stay.  Their menu looked interesting and we decided to get our family here for dinner. Except for the Jack fruit burger (which was definitely better than the rest) everything that we ordered was so very Okay. It was juicy and nicely spiced...though, not fab. No, we are not complaining about the dishes itself. We had problem with flavors. Everything tasted very typical and lacked on flavors. Nothing to go wow about.<br/><br/>Prices are steep for the experience they offer. <br/><br/>Honestly speaking, attendants are only doing their job. It is always buzzing with crowd so probably they are too tired to be amiable.
Ironic Foodie
Took my vegan friend here and loved it SHAT all over the veggie bar (if only it were closer, I would come here more often), we did the share plate thing, the falafels, tofu skewers and polenta chips were divine and each sauce complimented it perfectly. Service was great and speedy and I would definitely come back

Such a cosy little restaurant! Awesome vibes walking in, and a great atmosphere! The tables were quiet small, but they had spots behind you to put away the salt and peppers ect! The food is vegetarian and vegan on request which is fantastic! Lots of variety to choose from with the food and even had a large selection of drinks to cater for everyone which is a huge plus! The food was delicious, and literally melted in your mouth. I had the gnocchi and it was just amazing!!! My partner had the rawazange or something on the lines of that (vege lasange) and he was very impressed. We will definitely be returning to this venue.
Shazzamataz
Food delicious, with a great range, Jack Black Burger, and Burrito both worth trying. Bro rates the gnocchi, and Sis loved her dish. Food range of wines. Service a little so-so, but friendly enough I guess. Would def head back to try other bits on the menu
The Go Go Mumma
Sister of soul was on my long list of the many must try places! So I was stoked to dive in and taste test, one of their many offerings. <br/><br/>I had the raw bolognese made with zucchini zoodles, with mushroom and crushed walnut in place of the typical mince protein. It was oh so good and surprisingly filling. The coldness of the dish was the only let down, as there’s nothing like a hot bowl of bolognese - However, this defeats the purpose of raw, right!? Mr Go Go, devoured his Moroccan quinoa salad, which is a statement in itself. <br/><br/>Our drinks (pure gold, immunity and O.J.) Came with paper straws, tick for the war against waste and being stainable. <br/><br/>The shared dessert with my mini was the real disappointment to an otherwise awesome experience. The berry passionate, raw cheese cake didn’t have much flavour. The sprinkling of sliced strawberry, coconut flakes and passion fruit pulp - did help lift the taste, but the overall it was a little bland. <br/><br/>Still 2/3 isn’t bad. I’ll definitely return to taste taste the rest of their menu. The offerings are to good and value for money is awesome.

Let me keep it short.. food and the ambience was great and the service was fast but we found a worm in one of the order and reported to waitress.. Her response was numb.. which we didn’t like it.

Just went here tonight, lots of people having dinner here:) <br/><br/>I’ve had Jack Black Burger, it is so good I’m so touched hahah. Love sweet potato fries forever😝what I don’t like is the pickles...personally I recon it’s too sour for me...<br/><br/>My friend had Nasi Goreng, I had a bite and tastes 😋 yum. We are both pretty happy with our dishes😌

Lovely veggy and glutenfree meals! The miso soup is very nice and very cheap! The falafel is also glutenfree, a bit salty but nice after a hot beach walk.

Ever since going Vegan, I've had issues finding a gooood pho (since it's mostly made out of bones). Sister of Soul has finally quenched that soupy thirst. My table ordered the Korean Taco, Jackfruit Burger, Mango Lassi and Pho. While the korean taco for me was average, I can see other people enjoying it. Both the Burger and Pho were perfect for options if you need something 'hearty' from either western or eastern cuisine. Will definitely comeback. Probably when I'm hungover.

Very hard to choose something on the menu as everything looked amazing. At the end I made the right choice. Food was amazing, service was great.
Nalia
Although I like the variety of options on the menu, the food we ordered was just ok. Drinks and coffee were nice though. With so many vegetarian places now open, it's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to.

Such an extensive vegetarian/ vegan menu with so many delicious dishes! Every time I come here I just love the food. My favourite thing to do is to share multiple entrees, as it is always so hard to choose what to have. The tofu skewers and the gyoza are definitely too of my favourites. Everything I have had from the mains menu has also been yum! I was a bit disappointed in the desert, but if you stick to rest of the menu you honestly cannot go wrong! Great ambience and great service too.

Bloody YUM!! We came here for dinner, had the Rawsagna and Udon Noodle Stir Fry, both amazing! I preferred the stir fry only because it was hot. The Rawsagna was cold which I did not expect... but then it does make sense after reading the menu again. The sangria is yummy too. Service was so friendly and super fas, like unbelievably fast! Definitely coming back here. I think I need to try breakfast next time.

Everything was so so so yum! It was our first time trying Sister of soul and we love it! <br/><br/>Especially the bibimbap, it was amazing ! <br/><br/>The staff was really nice and friendly.<br/>The cafe is in the corner and the seating is really good.

Nice vegetarian food in the heart of saint kilda. I have been like million time to St kilda, but don't know how I missed this place. Truly good for vege ppl and also for Jain community which don't like onion and garlic. Good blend of Thai food and American burgers.

Interesting selection of vegetarian meals. We have Nasi goreng and the jackfruit burger. Impress with the nasi goreng as it is very well flavoured, unlike the traditional nasi goreng, the kitchen has created its own version of it. As for burger, I reckon it will be better if the burger patty is not so soggy. Definitely worth going back to go through everything in the menu.

What a great experience! From the moment we stepped in we were greeted with a smile and asked if we required a table for 2. Vegan dishes can sometimes be a little bland but the burrito I had was an explosion of flavour with black beans, jalapenos and a variety of spices. without rambling too much I cannot fault the food or service.<br/>if I was to nitpick, I'd advise a better inspection of the table before seating with a double check of cleaning food remnants from previous customers...but seriously, I'm nitpicking!<br/>I strongly recommend this place and I wouldn't hesitate taking guests or clients.

Great vegetarian/vegan restaurant tons of options for all kinds except meat lol. Good location, recommend booking a table on Fridays and Saturdays. I tried to call to book a table but no one answered. Also reasonably priced

So I have found most veggie and or vegan restaraunts disappointing. They have been usually lacking flavour and or originality. Thus I have stayed away from this place for years.<br/><br/>But it seems curiosity got the better of me. Plus I was getting sick of everyone telling me how good it is. So really it was time to find out for myself. Now I find myself going back and becoming a regular.<br/><br/>If that doesn't say something possibly the rating may be suggestion enough.<br/><br/>In short we like it, and by we I am including my children. We are yet to find a dish that is bland or unsatisfying. The Massan Curry is a too sweet for my blood but for someone else... it definitely is tasty, filling and colourful. I personally love their zen burger, the udon noodles, papaya salad and gnocchi... still got a full menu of other goodies to try. And I'm looking forward to it.<br/><br/>

The decor is nice and so is the staff. But despite having visited several times for breakfast and dinners. I always leave disappointed by the taste of the food. It’s just a little bland and tasteless I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

AWAYS A GOOD TIME HERE!! perfect to bring vegan/vego wary friends and fam!!! perfect for any time of the day. THE FRENCH TOAST IS A MUST, you will not regret!! so hard to get a good vegan brioche but these guys have mastered it!! would also recommend the udon noodle stirfry :))

Sister of Soul is a must visit if you are in St Kilda. The best vegetarian restaurant in town. They serve an amazing range of vegetarian food and the atmosphere is amazing - highly recommended. Once you have enjoyed your meal we recommend a nice walk along St Kilda beach - or you could even visit Luna Park for some family fun. @plantbasedmum_

Came here for the first time yesterday. The place and people are nice, unfortunately the food was not great. I had a vegan burrito which I didn't finish because it didn't taste very good. Trippy taco, the reverence and gringo vibes have waaaaaay better vegan burritos. Also ordered chips which were overcooked, taste like old burned yuck. There was no vegan aioli too which sucks. I decided to try the chocolate tart, hoping it'd redeem the place.... Nope. It was bitter, hard, too rich... Just not good. Would like to see the entire menu made vegan, and cmon at least vegan aioli, not hard to get egg free Kewpie or vegenaise or even make your own it's so easy!! I'd return if they changed it to all vegan and redid the recipes for the chips, burrito and tart.

Went here for my staff Christmas dinner, the food was tasty, and worth the price. But we got kicked out of the restaurant, right before we were all about to order desert! Made us pretty upset! And they gave us no reason! Missed out guys!

Lovely experience. Located on a busy street of St Kilda, it has a good ambience. Food was good. Its always a great experience for a vegetarian when they can order anything on the menu. Loved it!
