Abbey Road is always one of the most popular spots on Acland St. The vibes, music and decor are great. It's very relaxed during the day and quite a loud, energetic place to be at night.
Our order came out quite quickly considering how busy the staff were at the time. I had the Warm Beef salad which I really enjoyed. They were very generous with the beef, it was loaded with it. The roast beetroot went so well with it also and the whole salad was a huge portion. I'd definitely order it again - very nice and light in Summer.
I love this place on so many levels!
It’s a relaxing gem in the heart of St Kilda with a very relaxed / dim lighting place. The perfect destination for a first date!
We always order the pizzas as they’re so delicious and a very generous size plus along with chips cause there is nothing better than hot chips and sauce in winter 😉
These guys are always so busy yet they are very on top of everything and the service is great, considering how busy it can get! Love it every time!

Smack in the middle of Acland Street this is a great place to come and in inside or out. Of course outdoors means you get to watch all the people who visit this popular spot.
Coffee is really good. Food pretty good and not too expensive. Do try the steaks.
Fun and funky place that has very helpful staff.
Dietaries catered for, just let staff know. Takeaway available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Parking is okay.
I wanted to come here because of the name hehe!! Im glad i did check it out. I love the way its decorated! Especially the guitars on the wall and ceiling! I think if you like 50s and 60s music you might like this place! They had music like Elvis and The Beatles playing the whole time. I couldnt help bopping along with it :D and i wanted to try the food so i got an Abbey Road Burger! (Cos of the name hahaha!!). And it was delicious!! Im so glad the food was as good as the decorations and music :) next time i come here i want to sit in a booth and get a milkshake eheh, just seems like the thing to do :)
A constant buzz through this place, very funky and relaxed feel.
The food was done well, service was quick and attentive, they were able to adjust for some food allergies with no problem and happy to suggest options where needed.
Get in early, as they get busy but well worth the effort.
I love this place. Great location and always a busy atmosphere. Staff can be slow due to business but always polite and helpful! Food portions are massive so go when very hungry!! Good prices too for what you get

One of the coolest places around St Kilda .!
Huge tasty plates ! . Ideally to spent an evening having drinks or dinner with friends .
Pretty , friendly and sexy waitress make this please even better !! I’ll be back
Visiting Melbourne, and fantastic eating place. Excellent menu, large servings, very comfortable inside and out, very good music. Very good, will be back.
Great venue on Acland Street, food choices on menu easy are delicious and caters for all. Friendly fast service, great cocktail menu, reasonable priced
Location is convenient as public transport is nearby. Staff were friendly and service was good. The tropical pizza was okay and the passion (frozen) cocktail was good.
Great place to relax with a group of friends. The staff are lovely and there are plenty of options on the menu for all to enjoy. I recommend ordering a beer tower and sharing chicken wings. I’d probably skip on ordering the nachos.
Great ambiance. Must go to place if you are a group of friends and want to spend good time. If you are just going for food, i’d say look for other options too
Great vibe in this large cafe in Ackland Street. The decor has a cool musical spin with instruments, albums and pictures of all of the musical greats. The food is delicious and the prices are really good value, specially in St Kilda; for about $19 each there a generous breakfast menu, and the lunch/ dinner menus are equally pleasing.
Interesting venue and very helpful staff. Eggs benedict came with two choices, ham or salmon to go with the eggs, yummy hollandaise sauce (gluten free) and spinach on muffin (or gluten free toast). Coffee was very strong. Wonderful attentive service, I imagine this venue does well of an evening, it had a good mix of seating arrangements (booths, tables, couches, bar stools etc...)
I can only introduce myself as the one who turns up most Saturday mornings hungover, not needing a menu, nachos for me and smashed avo with mushrooms for Hubby!!
( guess you know who my now!)
As a local I have to own up to Abby Road as my breakfast go to and cicciolinas’s as my dinner go to.
Entertaining friends tonight who are not local and their brief was “ Local, great food, lots of cocktails and relaxing atmosphere “
Abby Road ticked every box!!!
We are here now and having and absolute ball!!!
I know how hard you work and want to give you a MASSIVE pat on the back!
Hard work pays off and you have an amazing business.
Well done champ. Proud to be a local and bring people to you xxx
Got bacon and eggs this morning. Very good sourdough, eggs perfect, but the bacon. My God the bacon was a never ending sea of meaty goodness. Cooked well done too as per request. I felt like I was eating bacon for a solid hour. Great healthy portion ;)
Came here on a Friday night with no booking and grabbed a table for 4 with no wait. Service was prompt and friendly, meals were expensive but large so that was okay. Food took a while to come out but was understandable due to the amount of people they seat. I got the minty lamb shanks and the meat was very tender and mash was great. Great variety on the menu and had an average experience, would possibly come back.
You would think it would have been bleeding obvious that Abbey Road was a themed restaurant... but it really didn’t occur to me until sitting down and ordering a meal. The interior says classic rock and menu was huge. I would throw down the gauntlet and challenge anyone to not find a dish they could eat on their menu ... it’s so extensive. I demolished a burger and Kelisi a parma quick pronto as we were off to a gig ourselves and didn’t want to miss the support. Really fun and lively spot. Their bar is good to.
👍🏼
Um I love this place! Such a funky little spot and I love the retro decor. Ambiance abound. My dining companion and I popped in for dinner, me on a diet sipping an açai smoothie, them loving life sipping an espresso martini. They cater to all types! This is the type of place that has absolutely everything on the menu. I was delighted to see a large variety of salad options (NINE) and opted for the John’s salad of prawns and calamari with avocado and goats cheese (all my faves in a bowl, yummmm). We had a delicious time and will absolutely be back
Super busy place especially on a weekend night so If you've got young kids not the place for them. My partner and I both got the pork belly which featured two massive pieces of meat cooked to perfection. It came with a mixed roast vegetable selection which was nice but featured some random vegetables which I actually had no idea what they were hahah. The gravy and mashed potato was delicious too, mashed potato had an almost cheesy flavour. All in all a delicious meal for the price. The service was pretty good and the table and glasses seemed clean although it was dim lit
Love this place. Always get seated quickly, staff are attentive & friendly. Food comes out quick & the prices are pretty good. The seating is spacious & the atmosphere is relaxed and causal. It's a nice place to sit, drink & eat with friends & family.
The food is uncomplicated & good quality. I've had the pork belly & eye fillet - both were amazing cuts of meat & very tender & tasty. The all day breakfast hits the spot & the desserts are generous.
Favourite cocktail - The splice, really tastes like an alcoholic version of the ice block.
Abbey Road is my go to place when in St. Kilda.
We stopped here on a whim as we were looking for somewhere to eat, a group of 5 of us and most places were very busy.
We got a table in here and I'm glad we did, the staff were lovely, the decor was amazing and the food was delicious. We all ordered something different and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
Only complaint is not being able to split the bill when paying by card!
Holy hell, Abbey Road is cool AF. The walls are adorned with photos of Musicians old and new. The decor is funky, cool and retro charged. The ambiance was chilled yet offered the potential for what could be an awesome night out.
Their bar is well stock and hard to miss, perfect for any discerning bevy lover! The staff were friendly and attentive, the owners are just as jovial and interactive with the customers which is always a bonus in my books.
Abbey Roads menu is extensive and will please most appetites. Today I chose to engulf the farmers breakfast with spicy sausage and as promised was delivered a hearty serving of a medley of mixed veg incased in scrambled eggs and served with two large slices of ciabatta. To wash it all down I ordered a Virgin Mary which was just the ticket, whilst my Mini enjoyed a serving of thick warm banana bread.
No photos as of our meals as - 1. I forgot 2. My stomach won the battled to be served before my brain could conjure my fingers to complete the 2sec task of click, clicking the camera...
I'll be back to try their dinner delights and to experience the late night crowd.
The ambiance the decorative wall with all famous musicians is what I was drawn to
Following by the fact that dinner is served till very late
This is my go too for a sneaky treat and warm apple pie and mud cakes are devine
Such a cutesy place. The cheesecakes were soooo good ! I should visit again soon!
I like their menu, they do mainstream stuff slightly differently. Good coffee 👌🏼
Best restaurant around. Friendly welcome, seated straight away. Service was fast and the meals are top quality. Highly recommend this great restaurant to any one going to St Kilda. We will be back with friends.
Quite a great little experience here at Abbey Road - terrific atmosphere with plenty of patronage and lots of great music from old times to listen to whilst enjoying a very nice meal and accompanying drink. Service provided was awesome by all waiters and waitresses who tended to us - extremely friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. :)
Was pleasantly surprised by the great taste of the protein shake, with no grainy texture present whatsoever - tasted very much like a nutty Cherry Ripe - great combo of chocolate, cherry and almond!! :)
Egg soldiers on the menu!! My wife couldn't resist!! The smashed avo took my attention, we were both impressed, although the smashed avo was slightly too salty with a bit too much feta. Otherwise, awesome and good value for money!!
Great venue, will definitely be back!! :)
As we were waiting for the bank to open, we decided to grab breakfast at Abbey Road on Acland Street.
We found the service very good and I loved how the owner himself was helping cleaning the tables and also asking all patrons if they were happy - it felt very personal.
The coffees were very nice and strong - exactly what one needs this early in the morning.
We both got the Abbey Road Breakfast, which was very nice. The sausage, in particular, was very tasty. It also came with a very generous serving of bacon. The reason I didn't score it a full 5 is because, as a whole, it was lacking a bit of flavour - the spinach was just sautéed, but there was no flavour in it and the beans tasted like they were out of a can.
These small remarks aside, everything was really nice and, at $19, it offered a really good value.
Top class food even better hospitality. I had pork belly and my wife parmy both was amazing. Well worth the trip to St Kilda even just for the food and drinks
Wow !! One word 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Back in Mel after 9 years....craving for a good old meaty spicy burger....and man....did I find it ??? I sure did....yummy....juicy...big fries...definitely recommended !!
Nice, busy place on Acland st, run well by Angie & her brother. Good wine list & cocktails galore. Our waiter Jorge was terrific & most attentive. We had the chilli con carne & it was delicious! Nice feel.
Love the choice of options here from a basically all day breakfast (the amount of times I've slept in late on the weekend but still got pancakes is amazing) and the choice of any mix of ingredients for juices (once a month I crave a watermelon juice and only these guys can satisfy!)
The older gentleman who works here, I assume the manager/owner, is absolutely lovely and extremely friendly and welcoming. Great combination of factors to make a great venue
Really nice relaxed atmosphere with an outdoor seating area. The place has a nice casual vibe to it but there is nothing too casual about the food. Reasonably priced for the portions served which are generous. I tried the roast pork belly which was delicious & the cracking was to die for, accompanied with mash & veg. My friends tried all sorts of dishes from nachos to soups to schnitzel and pastas and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Went to Abbey Road twice last week and would go back again, just a pity that we live in Perth WA. Great atmosphere and service... and meals well above average.
I ordered the minty lamb shanks which were delicious and very filling. My friend had the fish and chips which he enjoyed. He could not drink his tea however as it came in a dirty cup and he is very fastidious. My chai was a little strongly flavoured. The service is good and the food arrived in reasonable time. Rock and roll decorations and soundtrack. Booths available! Casual feel - do not dress up.
Our regular spot in St Kilda, have never had a bad experience here!
Staff have always been warm and bounce off our (mostly) crappy jokes. Have had the vege pizza, halloumi salad, amongst other things, and haven't been disappointed.
Perfect spot for a drink, granted it can get busy in the smokers area, but if you look down the street everywhere is busy.
Kept saying to my GF that we needed to write a review (never do) and was shocked to see some of the ratings on here. Will continue to go back, love your work!
Thump up, good reasonable price, prompt services, very warm seating which I like. Very ambient environment. I will definitely coming back again.
Detail: came here on a nice sunday afternoon and sat outside. Ordered the big brekky and my partner got the pancakes! We thought both the meals were delicious.
Decor: nothing special about the decor inside but I really liked the vibes outside in the sun!
Service: very friendly staff, can't complain! 😊
Great place, good fast service and friendly staff. Fair prices for yummy food. Lots of outdoor eating areas in the sun which was perfect on the 30 degree day! Enjoyed our visit!
Visited here for the first time yesterday and still thinking about the great breakfast I had! Great service, yummy food and pretty reasonable prices. When I'm in Melbourne next will definitely be coming back for another feed. ☺☺
I wonder why the rating is low, but it's a 5 star for me. The food is great, the ambience is great and so is the tower beer.
Influenced by the owners Greek Cypriot heritage, Abbey Road Café delivers fresh home-style food, fantastic drinks, soul moving music, friendly efficient service and a crackling good time. Abbey Road Café's served up a winter must - traditional cottage pie, beef mince and Australian garden peas topped with a cheesy mash, served with a garden salad. It was good ol' hearty food, perfect for winter.
(Greek dip w pita, chicken & pulled lamb souvlaki) Enjoyed our lunch here today. It was extremely busy but besides that our food was out very quickly and without a compromise in quality. The food was to die for the pita for our entree was beautiful, soft and warm with a generous serving of dip. The souvlaki was even better, serving size & quality certainly worth every cent you pay. Would definitely recommend.
Had dinner here with my partner's family and the food was delicious.
Our table had Pork Belly , Halloumi, Kangaroo Souvlaki & Calimari. Kangaroo was beautiful- nicely charred on the outside and beautifully rare in the middle. The pork belly was phenomenal with just the right amount of crunch on top and deliciously tender meat. The mash and gravy with this really complemented it perfectly.
We also had some pita with dips (tzatziki, tarama , eggplant) and they were great, the eggplant dip was smoked and a lovely rich flavour , tzatziki was a bit thin and tasted a bit strongly of garlic for me but that's just personal taste- can't fault it.
The portions were HUGE. I can't stress that enough. We all arrived hungry and I don't think anyone could clear their plate! So definitely bring your appetite!
Considering the enormous portion sizes the prices were reasonable, though I think it would be nice to offer something a bit smaller at a slightly lower price.
All in all, a great meal. Dinner and drinks for 5 people about $210.
Would definitely visit again! 👍
every time i go to st kilda i make sure that i visit this place. expensive it is, but i love the food and the hippy vibes this place gives. the food is awesome and the cocktails are superb. only complaint i have is the price. the price range is pretty high but if you are willing to pay, you are paying for a good time.
Been here a while ago. We had slow cooked lamb shanks & the homemade scones ( a weird combination I know lol ) . I am a big fan of scone too . It was pretty good so does the lamb-shank. The owner is pretty friendly. Always busy .
$70 for two steak sandwiches and two beers is too much. The sandwiches were below average for bar/cafe food and way overpriced at $28 each.
Having said that, the servers are great. Abbey Road has a brilliant vibe and is usually the best-attended establishment on Acland Street. Let down by the average, expensive food, unfortunately.
Will definitely be back for a beer or two, though. If I'm not barred after this review.
Ever since Abbey Road started up I've been enjoying food & drinks there regularly. Angie, John, Lorry & their families are awesome at welcoming patrons whether they're locals and regulars or travelers just passing through. I especially enjoy the $15 Parma on Thursday nights....YUM...best Parma EVER! (NOT one of those belted up flattened out ones that everywhere else seem to have). They also have a great skill at choosing the best live musicians for the space & always great tunes otherwise. Breakfasts at great there too. I have a local business in Acland street & it's really cool to catch up with locals and other business owners out the front of Abbey Road under the heaters in winter.
Great place, the decor and atmosphere trump many restaurants for enjoyment and experience, great place to go with a larger group, as its a bustling and loud (though not horribly so) place. The food is also of a high quality. Not the best you'll ever have but certainly of a high standard. It's basically a far better version of a pub. But I say that with love. Will definitely go back many more times.

The carbonara in Abbey Road is so heavenly good. Enjoyed every single slurp of the pasta. It tasted just right, not too creamy nor too cheesy. The bacon and mushroom in it were also yums!!! Not a big fan of the pizza thou, the olives' taste on top were quite weird. And $20+ was too pricey for such pizza. I highly recommend the carbonara pasta here!
Amazing cocktails, wide range of drinks. Awesome bar with good food too! Sometimes hard to get seats outside on the weekend but other than that! No problems !
Walked in off the street with a group of eleven for breakfast. We were seated promptly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was okay, banana shake was nice. Pancake stack was overly sweet, more suited to a dessert than a breakfast, omelettes were a decent size, eggs benedict were okay. The two staff waiting the tables, could have had an extra person to free their time up as they were working hard but didn't have time for a smile, although they were good they just looked slightly overworked, food was prompt and drinks were timely. Overall food was well portioned and tasted fine and service was good with a nice atmosphere.
I
Dropped in for a late dinner after a mid-week show at the Palais Theatre. Lovely Greek food - try the Saganaki Cheese and the John's Salad - both were perfect. Service was attentive with plenty of good recommendations from both the food and wine list. Will definitely be back!
Abbey Road deserves a much better rating than what it currently has. This place is a favourite for me and my friends. We love spending time here, eating, drinking and enjoying ourselves! The atmosphere is great, the waiters are excellent, the food is delicious and the drinks are cheap!
I have been here too many times to count, and my favourites would be the Caesar salad and open lamb souvlaki. Worth a try :)
We all have our 'go to' restaurants and Abbey rd is definitely one of mine. Always a good vibe and the menu offers such extensive variety there's something for everyone. I am never let down by my favourite grilled salmon with a quiona pilaf, brocolini and white bean and eggplant scordalia. For a lighter option i love the fresh and tasty salads, the grilled chicken one being a fave! A must visit for quality, very reasonable priced food and good vibes! :)
Went here for a get together so we were a large group, that was ok, plenty of space! The Christmas decorations were impressive, great effort! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Staff were on top form offering advice on menu choices and taking photos. Cocktails were amazing, can't remember the name of mine but have attached photo! Have to say we feel lucky to have a great time as friends before have commented on poor food. I will definitely try again. The bruschetta was crispy and the toppings fresh, the halloumi was just how it should be.
Have been here twice in the last week! Atmosphere is outstanding, always busy so probably worth booking a table, service was good and food was soo yum! Along with my mango daiquiri - which was huge! Will definitely come back next time I am in St Kilda! ☺
Dinner was great. Great friendly service. Great 60's feel. The only real let down was the state of the bathroom, which was more like the aftermath of a busy night club.
Great food and atmosphere. Only let down would be the lack of seasoning on the calamari. Will definitely be back to try something different
Atmosphere and decor in this place was fabulous. Loved the music . Great selection of food. A menu that anyone could come in and choose from and find something to eat. Shared a pizza and it was the perfect size for two for lunch . I loved that people could have their dogs join them out the front while they eat also .
Great atmosphere. Loved people and doggo watching from our comfy arm chair seats in the cafe looking out to the street. Delicious chardonnay and tasty chips. Lots of interesting decor to look at inside. Good service.
Loved this cafe on Acland street
Big inside and plenty of tables outside. Loved the music and fantastic decor.
Food was delicious, really big generous servings
Staff fast, efficient and friendly
Will definately be going again
Bush hustle and bustle vibe of St Kilda. This is definitely an institution with good vibes.
The ambiance is great with old classic playing over the speakers and lots of funky decor.
Worth a visit but can get busy.
First visit and we were very impressed.
Follow the crowed they say.. well the place was buzzing. Great to see Acland St back to life .. Well done to the team , until next time
Great place to go and have a meal. Sat outside with our dog it was cold in St kilda but there is very nice heating so won't cold while eating the magnificent meal and coffee we had here. Thank you for Great meal and service
Great place in St Kilda enjoyed my Burger & turmeric latte!! Loved all the old photos of my era of music / was fun going back in time!!
