Overall great burritos.
The customs are massive. Pulled pork cooked really well. Fish burrito nice but could do with more zing
My boyfriend and I get burritos from here at least once a week. He gets burrichi and I get the pulled jackfruit... BEST BURRITOS EVER. couldn’t recommend enough
Hubs and I popped in post my nearby hairdresser appointment last night as I was there for three hours and absolutely starving when I emerged from the basin. We used the entertainment book which got us some free nachos which were quite yummy.
I got the Cabo supreme which was delicious and super filling but very messy indeed. Sauce was dripping everywhere! He had the Thai chicken burrito which he also enjoyed. A great casual eat
Original review
Easily my favourite burrito spot. Not exactly cheap but they are delicious. The bay city bomber is a winner with both steak and chicken (they claim its massive but I can easily polish it off, I am an eating machine though). They have plenty of amazing varieties; the skinny chicken if you are embracing the healthy life, or the Indian inspired Bom-Bay for a bit of Mexican fusion.
I generally chose to make my own so I don't have to tweak those pesky onions outta there (yuck) and they have plenty of tasty options to customise your creation with, I love the pineapple salsa. I've tried the tacos and the nachos both amazing but never dessert. I am hugely interested in sampling that guacamole gelato on a future occasion though.
Happy upon being seated, delighted upon being served, on cloud 9 upon being fed. An unassuming restaurant serving mouth-watering food that’s run by an absolutely attentive, friendly and passionate owner. I’m so glad we over ordered because I can then show off my heavenly to-go burrito to hungry co workers and make them drool!
I have not had a bad meal here. Hands down the best burrito I’ve ever had. The rice in the pulled pork burrito is really something special. Love the pineapple and corn in it as well. Yummy
This is your go-to place for a darn good burrito! I seriously can’t find any other place that does a comparable burrito here! Prices are definitely on the pricier end, but hey, there is literally not that many options to go to for a good burrito!
My favorite has to be the Cajun shrimp burrito! If it wasn’t situated all the way in St Kilda, this would be my go to spot!
Bay City burrito to share! Fish tacos were awesome and can order individually! Homely interior and good service overall. Good to have when in St Kilda/Aclan street area...

Ok guys, let’s get one thing straight. You don’t go to BCB without trying the Jalapeño Poppers - OMG, these babies are so so good. I’m craving them as I write this from the lounge. Crispy, full of flavour and jam packed with a delicious cream cheese. That crunch factor is on another level.
I love LOVE that they cater for vegans, this is amazing! I enjoyed the Pulled Jackfruit Tacos, fresh, light and tasty.
The Grilled Corn is delicious with the chipotle mayo and cheese...take me back!
My Husband rated his burrito 5/5 and said it was super tasty, plus it was HUGE!!!!
Also the BCB Mandarin Margarita was absolute perfection and the perfect summer drink!
I’m so keen to pop back in for a casual meal with friends, even after a walk along the beach!
Only tried the chicken quesadilla so can’t give this a full rating. The quesadilla was a bit sloppy, found the entire filling fell out as soon as I tried to pick it up. Flavours really made up for that though. Guac on the side was good, doesn’t really need salsa.
Service was good, would go back.
Absolutely loved this place! The food, the vibes and the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We got a variety of food and everything was full of flavour and fresh ingredients were definitely used. The extra effort of making homemade guacamole and cheese sauce really takes your restaurant above and beyond others in your cuisine. Will definitely be coming back soon!!

Not a single negative thing to say about this place honestly. Great Mexican food, great location, fresh cold drinks. For entree, we had the fried cauliflower, which came with chipotle sauce. It was very different (in a good way of course). Also had the chicken tostadas, which tasted like a better version of crispy chicken taco. After the entrees, we had the mission special burrito, fish taco, pulled pork taco and prawn taco picante. Again, they were all amazing.
We recommend that this place is THE place to go, if you are looking for Mexican food in St.Kilda.
I have eaten here a few years ago at the Hawthorn restaurant and maybe it's gotten better! Try the bay city bomber and pulled jackfruit, the only complaint is that the sauce for the jackfruit is so salty that extra pineapple is needed. Pretty cheap meal in comparison to everything else we order so go for it! (The last delivery driver made off with our food though so we didn't get to eat but hopefully the restaurant doesn't get the same person all the time!)
Who does not love mexican food? Something you don't always have but when you do you think why not. That what you feel when you enjoy a bay city burrito. Very tasty
Damn I LOVE Mexican food and Bay City Burrito are my favourite. Their burritos are amazing!! Sooo full of flavour and saucy, Jalapeno poppers, corn, Nachos and taco's it is hard to go wrong! Located opposite Luna Park, Bay City are in a perfect spot to get your Mexican on! Go and go now!
Yummy. We came here on Sunday night before a concert. I had the jackfruit burrito being vegan. It was delicious and very filling. I tried to stop eating but it was all gone. Also had the popcorn cauliflower. They were spicy and nice too. Staff were friendly.
Decided to give this place a try on a Monday night. Great place food was beautiful we had a burrito and a burrito bowl both were perfect and there were lots of choices to suit any meat, vego or vegan appetite. We also had some salsa and chips and some popcorn cauliflower. The salsa was amazing with nice warm corn chips but the batter on the cauliflower was a bit heavy could have been a lighter batter and that would have made it perfect. Although it wasn’t for me it didn’t take away from the rest of the experience. The venue is clean and well layed out and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For sure a great place to eat if your in he area.
We went here last night for burritos and I had the california with added cheese and sour cream and Spanish rice instead of brown. It was amazing, I spent the whole rest of the night going on about good my burrito was and how I wanted to go back and have another one. Although I feel it was so good it probably didn’t need the added cheese and sour cream so I will have to try it next time without. Also they got all of my changes correct as well which is always a plus. My boyfriend got the bay city bomber with nuclear sauce which he liked - he appreciates how big it is and that the sauce is actually spicy. I only wish you would do a veg burrito in bay city bomber size. I will definitely return to eat more awesome amazing burritos here!
Went here Friday night with a few friends and loved everything about it. We had the nachos to share and 3 small tacos each. The nachos were one of the best I've had. The tacos were very good also, especially the pork. Dissapointed I forgot to take photos to add into my review but i definitely recommend this joint. I will be returning soon! PS loved the San Fran posters!
A great option for casual dinner when in st kilda. Better than GyG or MadMex but not touching the heights of mamasita or Radio Mex this is still one of my go to restaurants for delicious quick meal. Nice atmosphere too.
Try the fish taco!
Friendly staff who made me feel welcome, good atmosphere for chilling out and having a beer & burrito, look like everyone is happy to be there
Jalapeño poppers are incredible! The fish tacos were also great. Super quick service. Highly recommend this fantastic venue! We will be back
Been here twice this week. Great food for a fast food place. Each time had the massive burrito in a bowl, was fresh and lots of food and tasty. Tried the Apple cider on tap which was refreshing as I sat in the sun. Service is helpful and friendly.
I ordered the enchilada style naked burrito, it was quite good and filling. It was a hot plate and the serving was large. I managed to finish it. But again, it could be because my friends and I were hangry but it wasn't too bad considering you can't really find legitimate Mexican food in Australia, especially the fast food places. Would come back if I'm ever in the area
Corn chips are brilliant with the salsa! The bean burrito it quite delicious as I am not a cheese lover although this was yum!! So much competition around that area with rly good vegan food but this has been one of my faves!!
Absolutely amazing food and brilliant service. The burritos here are the real deal and make sure you are hungry because the servings are generous. A really nice vibe, and drinks are also reasonable. House red very pleasant. A great place for a small group. Very welcoming staff. Will be back often I think.
If you're looking for a decent vegan burrito you'll love this place, friendly staff, open space, great location (next to lunar park), went with a mate who's had a few buritto's around the city and says this place is his favourite 😁
I love a good burrito, and this place has them. I got the bay city bomber and it was delicious and large. A little on the pricy side, but it was a lot of food.
Jalapeño poppers were nice, the cream cheese filling was amazing! Not spicy at all. I also had the cajun picante burrito with prawns which were tasty with a mild spice.
Service was really good, very prompt. The waiter even made some helpful recommendations regarding menu items. I would return!
Amazing burritos from these guys! Ordered 2 off the vegan menu and they were bursting with flavour; filled with beans, spiced rice and veg. By far the best I've had all year. Will certainly be going back to have more! 🌯 🌯
Good burritos and a wide range to choose from. Food size is quite generous. Lacking the real fried chips as their only option is corn chips. Good location just next to Luna Park
Ordered the Bay City Bomber, Corn on the cob and Nachos Locos! Was absolutely delicious ☺️ the flavors and ingredients were fresh, and really tasty.. we shared it between two people and it was plenty. We will definitely order again - if your looking for something tasty, not heavy or greasy this is a perfect meal! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Constantly good food with really really friendly waiters! Good for a quick lunch or dinner with nice beer or jug of margaritas. Really dog friendly as well
Delicious food. Jalapeño poppers were not quite what i expected. But still tasty. Reasonably priced. Lovely friendly staff. Would recommend.
Best burrito / fajitas in the world. Oh my god you must eat here. Very friendly staff and food is amazing. We are working our way through the menu and so far everything is top notch. Try the Mexican cola :)
I had my first taste of Mexican cuisine, while I was in the US as a kid. Mexican food has a huge worldwide following, but it is always hard to find a good quality Mexican place in Australia which would remind me of the ones I have had as a kid. But one such rare finds is Bay City Burrito in St. Kilda. Setup by Gerry (a San Francisco native), this place comes really close to the Mexican dishes in the US.
Simply delicious. Had the bay city bomber which is a monster of a burrito. It doesn't seem like it could be good but you will be wrong. The flavors of the meats are not lost and everything blends in perfectly like how a good burrito should be. The meat is tender, juicy and the whole burrito has just the right amount of 'sauce' - not too much that it falls apart and not too little that it's too dry.
Also, I think they make one of the best nachos around. The chips are crazy good and so are the freshly made condiments. Mmmmm!
Sorry totally forgot about photos! You'll just have to try it yourself! :)
Two "Mexican" joints have recently closed down in St Kilda. And that's because they were crap! BSB is at the other end of the scale. Simple, tasty Mexifood; served by a friendly team. The burritos weigh half a ton each, and normally require some kind of wheeled apparatus to get them home hernia-free, but they're well worth the ensuing days off work and physio. I like to go here with the wife, so I can drink copious amounts of Corona or Dos Equis while pretending to peruse the menu. I highly recommend the pulled beef or pulled chicken.
Bay City Burrito is taking burritos to another level serving the best, healthiest and most authentic food to Melbourne. Bay City Burrito's Mexican Tortilla soup with avocado, sour cream, cilantro, sweet corn, jack cheese and tortilla chips on the side was heart-warming simple comfort food done well.
How delicious is this place?
Got ubereats as came home from a work trip to a sick household and Mexican was all they wanted. Wow! That chicken burrito was so full of flavour, nice chicken pieces without fat, yummy rice and sauce.
The mini chicken burrito I had and yum yum. If it's ok for kids it's ok for me as I'm not a big eater but delish.
Corn was so spicy and fresh; cleared the head that's for sure and the nachos? Came all separate; never seen anything like it as you get nachos delivered and it's a mess but as you can see from the pics it was well packaged - condiments galore!
Beef quesadilla was full of soft melt in the mouth beef. Sorry the pics don't do all this justice but for a takeaway it was a 5/5
Yuuum! I get cravings for their burritos. I wish I had one right now. Great vegetarian options. Really hearty and satisfying. If you are hungry and just want something easy and great go here and get a burrito!
Came here on a recommendation on their burritos. We started off with nachos and a jug of sangria. The chips were nice since they're crispy and gluten free. The dips were decent, nothing mind blowing though. We had the pork tacos which were tasty but a tad on the sweet side. The fish in my fisherman's wharf burrito bowl was perfectly cooked and the chipotle dressing gave it a good kick. Overall, I did find the guacamole and my burrito bowl lacked a bit of brightness and acidity. But a tasty meal for what we paid for. Not the best Mexican I've had, but definitely good value for portion size and lots of burrito options. The burritos are definitely the highlight. The staff were also super friendly and came by to make sure our meals were ok despite it being an "order at the counter" type establishment. For that, I give them brownie points.
Nachos arent worth the $ but the burritoes are FANTASTIC! !! I am officially a regular there now. I usually get the carbo supreme with chicken. Try the hot sauce
This place is the best Mexican in Melbourne! Much better than Fonda or Mad MexGet the bomber!!! You wont regret it! I also really enjoy the Nachos
Great Little place at St Kilda!! Great Service and thoroughly enjoyed the food ! The bomber was very big and very satisfying !! :) They also had vegan options which is exactly what my friend was in need of !
We went here on a Tuesday and they had taco tuesday which means tacos are only 5 bucks! I love their fish taco... also I love their homemade tortilla it suits best with guacamole!
Also as you walk in you can feel the casual mexican vibe!
Aweeeesome burritos (fisherman's wharf is surprisingly excellent and the bomber is huge and insanely delicious), friendly staff (brazilian guy taking orders always seems to have a smile and happy to help) and actually sells Jarritos (guava most importantly). 5/5
This place is an absolute little gem. Simple decor, fresh vibes. Food is grouse! The nachos are that good, and the cheese is all gooey! Always get the pork quesadillas and they never disappoint. Never let down here accept the girl on the till doesn't like to have a joke but worth it for a grouse feed
One of (if not) the best Mexican in Melbourne!!!
Try it - it is absolutely delicious.
Yum
Customer service was really good too
Most authentic meal we've had since travelling through Mexico!
Delicious burritos! The food is consistently good here! We visit at least once a fortnight, if not more. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I left my phone here a few days ago and one of the staff members not only called me to assure me the phone was safe, he even made sure he kept it charged for me. I rave about this place to anyone who'll listen and I will continue to do so. Thank you for the delicious food and for keeping my phone safe!
Went for dinner on Sunday night with the wife. We both ordered the Bay Bomber and a Mexican soft drink each. The Burrito was massive, fresh and tasty. One of the best burritos I have eaten and great value for money. Will return here again!
My self and a friend had got a 'baycity bomber' and it was to die for. We hadn't eaten that day so I wanted to get the biggest thing on the menu. It says in the description 'huge' and that it is, I could only eat just over half. Little bit of a wait for the food however will definitely be back next time in St kilda.
Stopped in for a quick meal prior to going to Rockwiz a couple of weeks ago and I must say that the service was extremely fast given we only had just over half an hour. I had the Nachos Locos and my friend had a chicken burrito and we both ordered a glass of wine. Total cost was under $40. The nachos were the BEST I have ever tasted and my friend also was impressed by the size of the serving. Will definitely be back again to get some more of those yummy nachos. Cheers well done.
Stopped by when family came to visit from Adelaide and this place was pretty new at the time, it was a very friendly environment and the burritos were fit for a king! We enjoyed it here and the warmth we had received from the owner and the employees made us feel very much at home.
Second time we have been here - just great basic food that's delicious! Cali mex corn cob is fantastic, but the burritos are the traditional meal that you need to come here for.
Great size for what you pay and very filling. There's a fun San Francisco vibe, and a must before a concert at the Palais! I would come here again.
I get the burrito bowl with vegan options and I enjoy it. Margaritas are good too, especially at happy hour prices. Great for a quick meal!!!
Very nice Tex-Mex. Been here a few times on the way or back from the beach, and it's never disappointed. You can eat outside, or there's still a nice open air feel inside with the big open doors & the food arrives fairly quickly with a smile.
The fish and prawn tacos are my favourites, very tasty, although they're pretty small. The bay city bomber burrito has great flavours and *is* actually massive as it says on the menu! Nachos appear to be made from fresh corn tortillas which are yum. And the margaritas, oh man, so delicious and so dangerous at $9.90!
I must say though that I wouldn't call it single-$-sign-cheap. The last time I went with someone, we had nachos to start, 2 tacos (honestly that is only one serving for me, a small female), 1 burrito, 1 margarita and 1 beer which came up to about $70. So it's not expensive, but hardly cheap.. It is delicious though!
Good chicken burrito but could be a little but cheaper . Id come back for the happy hour
Always a good visit.. I live right near bay city burrito, and I absolutely love the fact the they are always serving up the same quality dish everytime! My favorite burrito is the thai chicken, id have at least one a week, and look forward to my next one! Friendly staff and chilled atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Yumo. Had 'The Bomber' it was hugeee and also great. Nice staff can't complain
Delicious burritos & guacamole. Great customer service. The manager really went above & beyond to ensure we were happy. Highly recommended.
Beer and Burrito. I had the $14.95 beer and burrito special - it rocked. The beer was icy cold and the burrito came quickly. It was hot and tasty. The counter chick was also friendly and entertaining. Definitely go back.
Bay City Burrito has only improved since I last came 3 years ago. I decided to give them another shot and wasn't disappointed.
I ordered Nachos Especial (pork carnitas) and the La Fajita burrito (steak). The tortilla chips were crispy and fresh, the pork was tender and flavoursome, and it was all served at the perfect temperature. I just felt it needed *something* (salsa, perhaps).
The La Fajita burrito was stunning. Beautiful flavours – the beans and rice weren't bland; it was warm-hot – a definite winner. One of the best burritos I've tried.
Perfect. This place is pretty much perfect. It gets right what so many Mexican places get wrong. It is not overpriced. It is not slow. It is not trying to be too refined (Mexican food should be casual). The food is fresh, with amazing flavors. Generous servings. Great staff. Completely in love with this place. Cant wait to go back. I serious was wondering if I actually do like Mexican food, but now I know it can be good.
Loved it. Great atmosphere, amazing burritos and cold beer. Need I say more??
MexiCAN!. Love this place, friendly family-ee feel. two great Vegan options, always fresh and tasty and hot.
They need to do chips like Trippy, but otherwise no complaints. we're there once a week. Great addition to the area.
Fast, Fun & Filling. I had a Been and Cheese Burrito. My offsider had two Bay City Tacos. My burritos was MASSIVE, soft, tasty, lots of melted cheese, beans & brown rice. I'm still full this morning!! His soft shell tacos were spicy and delicious with tender meat. We both added the lime sour cream. At under $40 for the food and two drinks each I thought it was a great place for a casual dinner and am surprised at the bad reviews. We found the staff friendly & efficient..
I love this place! I had two tacos that were both amazing. I'd be splitting hairs deciding which one I liked more. The staff were friendly enough and accommodating too.
Delicious! Big tasty burrito, fast and friendly service.will be back again soon
Good food with a smile. What's not to like?. Staff are really friendly and the quality of food is great. I love coming here for a relaxed mid-week lunch. Someone's put a lot of energy in to this place and I like supporting a new local business. Slowly working my way through the menu and will be be back many times.
Great for after Footy. The Burrito was just the thing to fill the gap after playing a little football with my mates and dog around the corner.
I loved the fish taco my wife ordered.
The staff are friendly and it's a nice place in the afternoon sun with nice music.
I'll be a regular!
Came in here the other day and I am really happy to say that my experience was fantastic. Excellent nachos, filling and delicious burrito (I had the caliente Cajun which I highly recommend) and the staff were very friendly. Beats the other Mexican places in the st kilda area hands down. Will definitely be coming back
Awesome authentic Mexican food that won't break the bank.. We'll be back!
Delicious!. So glad this place has finally opened! Authentic San Fran style Mexican.
The fit-out is slick (think Yo-Chi on Carlisle St) and the menu is extensive.
Plenty of healthy options, including the truly awesome Bombay Burrito with prawns in a light yellow curry, black beans, rice, salsa, etc.
Give it a try before it gets totally packed over summer!
