Well I've just eaten one of the best coal cooked steaks I've had! Service was perfect and it was all on a Monday 50% off! Just seasoned to perfection and cooked to perfection! And the 2 meals cost a mere $29.00 ??? Drinks also on happy hour till 7 sooner of Furphys $5, They have nailed the art in filling one of the quietest days in the week! A Monday.
Your staff are all awesome polite and quick.
If I had one negative it would be the fact we both orderd the steak with sauce on the side and we only got one sauce which was so good it just wasn't enough.

It’s my favourite local. The kitchen is brilliant and it can be expensive but worth it... however they have nightly specials which make good food really affordable:-) I’m sitting here enjoying bottomless brunch right now and thinking life is pretty good � thanks Newmarket Hotel.
Ps only feedback is my partner and his dad didn’t appreciate one option beer - they said it tasted like a Queensland beer. Lol. And mimosas and bellinis were a bit sweet, but it was better when I specified I didn’t want 30:70 ratio but more a 10:90 ratio to champagne �
Loved the outdoor green area (fairy lights add charm) and was perfect on a warm Saturday evening. Cocktails were delicious!
Meals came out quickly and the food was great value. The only negative was that the live music was too loud (had to shot over dinner until we moved outside). Will defiantly be back! �
The place was packed as it was a Saturday night. Great atmosphere and friendly wait staff. Drinks were a little slow to arrive as our waitress had a pretty busy section but overall my mates and I had a great meal.

Popped in for an anniversary dinner with my girlfriend whilst over from Perth for the weekend. Service was very good, food was a perfect fusion of Modern Australian and tastes of the Americas and the Tequila pitcher was the best cocktail involving Tequila we've ever tasted. Bravo!

I really loved that I could bring my dog and sit out on the side courtyard. We came on a Wednesday so there is a selected menu of $5 pizzas. We tried three of them and they were all great value and delicious. They have vego and meat options too which was good.

Absolutely love it here! I went many years ago for dinner. We had tapas and some main dishes, it blew my mind. Last month I went for a bottomless brunch and wow they still nailing it! Keep it up guys!
St Kilda has some gorgeous hotels, and it can be difficult to choose where to go at times. However, we always seem to end up dropping into the Newmarket as it's reliable in delivering the goods. Elegant and chic without being pretentious, this place has a great vibe and is usually very busy on the weekend and at night.
The bar is central to several dining and sitting areas, and the staff are great at making cocktails and drinks. The crowd is chilled here, and it can get noisy, but that just adds to the fun vibe. It's a great place to hang out with friends.
There is a delicious food menu, and whenever we've eaten here our meals have been tasty and fresh. They do interesting twists on pub classics and we always enjoy the food here. Overall, it's a pretty top notch pub with a friendly atmosphere, great tunes and excellent service.
I came here on grand final day for the bottomless brunch with a large group. This comes with bottomless cocktails, selected beers/ciders and wines for 2 hours. The selected cocktails are belini’s, mamosa’s and espresso martini’s. All really good. You also get to pick a brunch dish from the menu. This bottomless brunch is $49 per person but this deal may vary for summer time.
A cool and trendy Pub. Great happy hour deals $5 for a schooner no complaints. Sitting outside a nice atmosphere. The food looks great so will be back.
I attended a bottomless brunch at Newmarket Hotel on the weekend for a friends birthday.
For $49 I thought it was really good value. This includes 1 dish from the brunch menu (I got the super salad which was really nice) and unlimited espresso martini’s, mimosas and bellinis and house wine and beer. I stuck with the mimosas and bellinis as the espressos were pre mixed.
Our group was a little disappointed because on the website it lists sangria and frose as part of the brunch package but were told on arrival these weren’t available.
Service was a little slow due to how busy it was so some extra staff would be good during those peak times.
The go to place for good vibe and a great meal!

Fantastic looking venue with great dining area and pub style seating, dining room has full table service which was prompt and professional enough for a pub.
I would have too say I had the best Parma here I’ve had in along time and for $15 on a Tuesday you can’t go wrong. Arancini balls were nice and the steak/jus was very good as well as I was told by my friend.
All in all a great experience and I will definitely be back, don’t forget to get in for the $5 pint happy hour!

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Having the heaters outside is really nice and means there is much more space to relax in if the indoor area is too full.
The staff are wonderful and service is with a smile, cocktails are ace as well!

Quality meal! Always fun, the hanger steak and sweet potato is really good, some drinks but nothing too exciting on the cocktail menu, the food is the winner here.
We visited after the Grand Final and enjoyed a very nice meal with wonderful service. The wine list was interesting and varied with some good beers on tap. The brisket was great and the yearling beef special a good selection.

Was a good feed for the price and some great flavours. Service was nice and felt well looked after although it did take a bit longer than expected for the food to come out. Will definitely be back soon!
It was $10 Burger night. Shroom burger was really yummy. Large serving, excellent value. We sat in the outdoor area on a cold night still really warm and cosy. Great atmosphere.
We build our own charcuterie board and absolutely loved it. The hummus was deliciously thick and creamy and it was overall pretty good value. We also both really liked the hock terrine - nice texture and a big portion too.
The beers were quite expensive, but the service and layout of the place and the decor will definitely get us back.

I had a banquet here for a friend's birthday a while back. Can't quite remember the food but the cocktail jugs were fantastic! The watermelonade was so good, I splurged a bit too much here going back for cocktail jugs! Watching the bar tender make them was also a true art form, with so many different alcohols and components being put together to great refreshing and delicious drinks to share. Would go back here for some snacks and drinks :)
Great vibe on a Saturday night - fun DJ (not too loud that we couldn't hold a decent conversation over cocktails too!) friendly staff behind the bar, and the food was really tasty (highly recommend the lamb ribs and the quesadillas!). We'll be back!!
A great find whilst passing through. Melbourne turned on its typical summer weather 40+degrees one day and 19 the next. The Newmarket hotel was a pleasant place to stop for a quality feed and refreshing drinks, regardless of what the outdoors was bringing. Will return.
Going by the reviews on this place I wanted to try it, so came down last night with a couple of friends and what a night it was. Food was seriously magnificent.
We got the pineapple pork belly tacos, Black Russian and Buttermilk chicken quesadilla and calamari and corn chips as entrees.
Main were the porterhouse steak, beef brisket and the half chicken.
We got a jug cocktail also which was good, I don't remember the one we got. But it had basil in it.
The only let down was the portion size of the calamari and the tacos for $8 each were very small.
I will be coming back for the oysters 😍😍😍
Excellent food, attentive service and fantastic atmosphere. My friend and I had a delightful experience at the Newmarket Hotel for a mid-week catch up.
We had the soft shell crab tacos, the spiced chicken wings, the slow cooked pork belly and the lamb shoulder with a side of greens. All the food was delicious. Almost could not fault them apart from their pork belly (which was a little too much belly for my liking, although the flavour combination was definitely there!). Cocktails were also great and the cazuela for dessert was an absolute treat. I will definitely be back for the cazuela and more!
Fantastic service, great vibe, good drinks and one of the best steaks I ever had - quite pricey however and I can only recommend booking a table as this place is usually buzzing!
With a new year in full swing, it’s time to start checking off our never ending list of places to visit in and around Melbourne. The first on our list was the Newmarket Hotel, which was perfect as the summer heat had turned on so we could sit outside on their outdoor bit to enjoy the weather.
Just off the Princess Highway is the Newmarket hotel. With a rather deliberately low key looking entrance, it opens out onto a secluded, glassed courtyard, bathed in light, a chilled bar lounge, and intimate dinner amongst the concrete arches and rather suggestive wallpaper. This a place to take up residence and graze through their share plates and light tapas, peppered with drinks from their extensive and balanced lists.
Fellow foodie travellers and myself, headed into St Kilda in the hope of finding House of Crabs! When we arrived, we were told it had closed down for good!

We ended up dining in the Newmarket Hotel upstairs, really gorgeous place.
We had quite a few items off the menu and loved all of it ! Standout dish, the Barramundi and the rice is really uber tasty !
Service was impeccable, atmosphere, I would say romantic chic with a modern approach !
Will definately return when I’m back in Melbourne, even if just for a bevvy!

Came here on a Saturday for dinner. Loved that we could book although we arrived for our booking at 6.15. A little bit earlier than we usually eat but that was the only time left to book. We were greeted with a very friendly smile and seated and a lovely table. We ordered a few drinks and to our amazement it was happy hour until 7pm. So ordered a few more drinks 😜 the service was lovely and all the waiters were so friendly and lovely. They accidentally made an extra cocktail and gave it to us as they thought we would like it! YES PLEASE. We ordered some oysters to begin. They were lovely but a bit on the small side. Pulled pork taco and braised pork taco. YUM. These are a great euntre dish. The chicken wings were so tasty. Maybe not something u would order on a first date as they are a bit messy but loved the crunch from the batter and the dollops of a date purée and Greek yoghurt. The lamb shoulder we ordered was beautiful slow cooked and just melted in the mouth. We paired this with their raw salad!!! This was AMAZING!! The grated salted ricotta on top was epic. We loved the atmosphere and had a really lovely night. Great to come for a early dinner or a group dinner. Can't wait to come back with the girls for happy hour 😜
Stopped in here based on the Zomato reviews and was not disappointed. The venue is beautiful and was empty at 12.30 on a Thursday. We ordered a soft shell crab taco (really nice and fresh), smoked chicken quesadilla (nice but a lot of onion), lamb ribs (beautiful and tender, but sauce is very spicy) and the bravas (potatoes with amazing sauce). Food is on the expensive side but the portions are quite large. Cocktails are also on the expensive side but I had a Southside cocktail ($16) and it was worth it! Would definitely come back if we're in the area again.
Newmarket Hotel is a Melbourne Institution - having been around for years, this Inkerman Street establishment in St Kilda is definitely a household name. The venue itself just oozes with character - looking almost like an old factory from the outside, the inside is elegant whilst still being dim and enchanting.
The food tastes amazing! The presentation is pretty impressive too. More importantly, the food is delicious. The drinks are good too. The waiters are attentive, friendly and try to be as quick as possible with your order. On a Friday evening or the weekend, one could not hear them think. It is soooooo noisy. If you want to have a quiet dinner on the weekend this is the wrong place. If you want to listen to someone talk over dinner this will be the wrong place. Even though their food is great the noise is overwhelming. If you are happy not to hear yourself then please go for it. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to try delicious Latin American/Mexican food. I will definitely go back when I don't want to hear what the other people are saying ;-)
The Newmarket Hotel is a St Kilda institution that underwent a metamorphosis in 2011. with the tired old aspects of the pub giving way to something more on trend. 6 Degrees Architects revamped the space, making good use of the building’s bones to create a range of bright and airy indoor and outdoor areas.
The food was great! The potatas bravas are the best I've had in melbourne by far I could eat buckets of them. The spice in the ribs was perfect. The tacos were fresh and a great combination of flavours. Great menu.
The drinks matched the food astandard, great recommendations by the bar man and excellent service.
Lastly the fit out of this place is unexpected. From the front it looks like just a brick wall but once you enter, it's amazing even a great location for any type of function. Just a great find all round.
Definitely somewhere I would return to.
This place is great. Had lots of different tacos here, bigger dishes and drinks. Fit out makes the place really relaxing so plan to spend the whole day here.
The venue was really nice, food was quite amazing too. Great for a bite and pre-drinks. Although it was really busy the food didn't take long to come out. Great range of alcohol too.
Really cool venue, i love the layout of the place. Food wasn't bad either. I definitely recommend the chorizo carne, mushrooms and snapper cevice which were all very well seasoned. I especially loved the jelepeno yogurt sauce that came with the mushrooms. However, the corn was bland, the potato bravas could've used more sauce and the beef was so chewy I could only stomach one slice, admittedly that might've been our fault for choosing a cheap cut.
Overall the food was pretty amazing but the service was terrible, even on an empty Wednesday night it was hard to get anyone’s attention.
We were asked how we would like the food to come out and said when it was ready, however ALL the food arrived at once, every dish within 5 minutes. We would definitely recommend making sure your entree type dishes come out first and the main plates later. It was difficult getting everything at once, dishes like the ceviche and corn chips were lost, they may have scored higher if we had been able to taste them on their own without everything else around them.
The place did have a really good atmosphere and we would all like to go back and give some of the other dishes a try, especially some of the tacos! The overall score probably would have been higher if the service was that little bit better!
From the outside, The Newmarket Hotel doesn’t look like much when you first walk past it. The interior however, is a whole different story. Walking into the Newmarket hotel, I was blown away by the beautiful industrial like indoor dining area which leads to an open courtyard like al fresco set up with plenty of refreshing greenery and warm wooden tones against the gray scale concrete and dark steel framing the restaurant bar.
Really trendy restaurant and bar on inkerman street in st kilda, I'm almost always disappointed when I have Mexican food but this place really impresses. I particularly like the tacos, love the pork and pineapple and soft shell crab in particular.
Yummy food and love the 'Old Fashioned' cocktails. The 'Tres Leche'is delicious and . don't go there without ordering the 'Valrhona Chocolate Cazuela' . I died and gone to heaven and back :)
If you are after some Mexican inspired dishes in Melbourne, one of the best places to taste them would be at Newmarket Hotel. It is located near St. Kilda’s bustling Acland Street. They have cleverly kept the old exterior at the entrance, but the interior has been redone with a modern flare. It is one of my favorite Mexican places in the city.
Beautiful building, good selection of drinks! The menu is a little bit large but i highly recommend the $50 a head chefs tasting menu the food keeps coming and its good stuff great to try some new things disappointing they only had cava on the menu and no champagne but other than that it was spot on! Good staff but not too quick to clear youre table my only criticism.
Favourite Mexican in Melbourne. Not only is the Newmarket Hotel a trendy venue with a great vibe and brilliant cocktail list but the food is top notch! We ordered a selection of dishes to share including the soft shell crab tacos, the BBQ steak with black pudding, chorizo and black beans and the slow cooked pork hock. Everything was perfect. Genuinely love this place.
Wow! Nothing short of blown away!!! Incredible drinks, incredible food and incredible service!!! The soft shell tacos were our standout dish - closely followed by (in no particular order) the pork tacos, the cob salad (chicken, bacon), the con carne, the potatoes, the mushrooms and the 20hr slow cooked beef brisket! I'm sure I'm missing something but can't remember what it was!

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Great decor and vibe. Food was delicious, especially the corn on the cob! Lots of choices on the menu that I'll definitely be back to try!
We dined at Newmarket Hotel last night for a work dinner, 15 people at the Chef's table with shared dishes. The service, food and atmosphere was 10/10. Everybody was stuffed from the dishes, we had the pork hock, chicken, angus beef, street food to share, quinoa salad and sides. Also out of the 15 people there was 1 person gluten free and vegan and the food catered for each course for her was amazing, grilled corn cobs, guacamole and corn chips, tacos with cauliflower and mole, wild mushroom risotto. Really outstanding. Thanks Newmarket Hotel!

I like this place been here many times and recommend the banquet as they bring out things you have not tried before or wouldn't normally try. However my last visit with a group of 8 left me feeling embarrassed as I always talk this place up with my friends but on this night the cook or manager was not very accommodating as we had three vegetarians who didn't want to do the banquet. We thought simple then the other 5 people could get the banquet and the Vegetarians can have al.la cart. But the manager said no it's either all vegetarian or we have to order separately. Strange really considering we could have just sat at different tables and got the banquet. Anyway we ended up each ordering separately. Not cool since it really is over priced when ordering individual meals and starters.
But even after saying that the service was good and food is yummy. Although the waiter did stuff up the beer order and gave me the wrong beer but insisted it was pale ale but in fact the beers we were drinking all night was a different pale ale. So I would have though he could have known the correct pale ale we we drinking before. After I pointed it out he agreed he stuffed up and changed my beer but not the others (which was fair as my friends had already drank that beers). I will recommend this place but I would recommend the banquet if everyone can eat all the food.
Love the food here, though my 20hr brisker was quite dry. On the prior visit we tried the $55 feed me option and I think that's the best bet. As we're not that familiar with SoCal cuisine it's a safer bet to share a selection from the menu to get familiar. Music a little loud for a quiet mid-week dinner but overall great service and can't fault the design of the place. A magnificent reuse if an aging building.

The concrete arches in the main dining area serve as a striking centrepiece, transporting you to the world of modernism.
The menu is as playful as the dining space. Offering Californian-Mexican culinary experience, the plates are designed to be shared. SoCal spread is an excellent choice for the newcomers to try out a range of signature dishes.
The refreshing cocktail pitchers are perfect for the summery days or nights, especially the "Spring Harvest" with their house spices.
