4.5/5
I had lunch here on the first day that we could dine out again in Melbourne given the Covit-19 restrictions.
The service was excellent, friendly and efficient and I was made to feel really welcome.
My piccolo latte was unfortunately quite weak so I ordered another shot and it was still quite weak. Not sure why. The latte was nice otherwise, with some good milk froth and the coffee that I could taste was nice.
But it was my brekkie that impressed me the most. My brekkie burger consisted of a fried egg, lashings of bacon, tomato relish and cheese on Turkish. Wow this was absolutely delicious.
Another dish that we ordered was an avo smash w poached eggs and feta on sourdough. What a great dish, and this won hands down on presentation alone lol.
It was a great expert and I'll definitely go back.
E xcellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices and really decent food and at affordable prices. Will be back. Thanks
We stopped here for a Coffee and Chai Latte after our long walk at St Kilda Beach
The Cappuccino and Chai Latte was quite refreshing and yum.
This is one of the very few Cafe / Bars on Acland Street who do D'lish coffees way after 5.00 pm in the evening
Quite friendly Staff know their coffee quite well.

The cakes in the window are what catch your eye first but don’t be deceived the coffee is good too. Nice decor, quite clever and creative but hey that is St. Kilda.
We had poached eggs and they were perfect.
Prices are pretty reasonable. Staff are always so happy and friendly.
Dietaries catered for, just let staff know. Takeaway available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Parking is okay.
Really really good vegan options (not just a salad haha)! I always know I'm going to love a restaurant when they have vegan pancakes. I just wish they didn't charge extra for soy milk, however.
Ordered a take away latte from here yesterday, when I grabbed the cup it was really hot and I was concerned that the coffee would of been burnt or undrinkable.
Once it cooled down it was really nice, fortnately the coffee wasn't burnt and I enjoyed sitting in the park across Luna Park drinking it.
Nice well balance cold drip coffee. Maybe a bit week, but good flavour. The manager which is also one of the foh is extremely polite and really receptive. Was my second visit, I will definitely try some of the vegan slice when they'll be available ;-)
Loved this little cute joint, their tiramisu cake is just divine and the lemon meringue!!!!! So fresh! The customer service is also awesome always smiling! Coffee was also superb, will definitely come back
Great coffee! Great service; super friendly staff! Feels like being at home with a good friend and good coffee!! Did I say great coffee? Because the coffee here rocks!!!! Can’t complain!
Sometimes it is hard to find a place in St. Kilda that can be classed as reliable, with regard to food, service and coffee. We popped into this cafe, as we'd passed many and this seemed to appeal. We had some hot chips and chicken strips, which were great! Service was prompt and wait staff were upfront and attentive. Well priced also! Would visit again if ever in St. Kilda again!
The staff are friendly and the coffee is great. it's a nice little spot to sit back with your coffee and watch the world go by. one of my favourite coffee haunts at St Kilda.
I've tried all the local eateries & some are very good.
Without a doubt, the best is the 95 Espresso.
Food is delicious & as I am a coffee snob, this has to be right!
Welcoming service, good coffee and a huge selection of light meals make a great combination.
Many different wraps & sandwiches, along with a large selection of home made cakes, make this place perfect for brunch or somewhere to just take a coffee break.
Very pleasant and helpful staff.
We randomly chose this place and were surprisingly impressed. There isn't anything special about the store although staff are quite lovely. The food is reasonably priced and the iced latte was probably one of the best I've had - not sweet or bitter as they usually are. The gluten free bread is even tasty. We'd gladly recommend it.
Have been a St Kilda local for a long time and this place currently make the best coffee on Acland street. Friendly staff and great food too.
Edit: visit on 24th June 2018.
Still the same warmth and happiness and amazing food! Love the vibe here I stick to my everyword in the initial review below.
++++++
It takes lot more than just good food to be called awesome! there's been times when I have absolutely raved about food, but my ratings dont match my raving - the only reason is, and if you have been following me, you'd know that for me, its an overall presentation, food, comfort, character of the place, food placement, staff frendliness and to what extent can they go to accommodate your dietary preferences, and above all, cleanliness and vibe is what matters.
If I had just 1 line to review 95, let me simply say, It ticks all boxes! I mean all, literally.
Now let's get to the detailed review - what i call it as 'baal ki khaal' - as detailed as a skin of a hair (if something like that exists :P
Location and Ambience: 95 is located at Acland street, right where the Route 96 Tram terminates, though it's one of the many cafes on that stretch, you'll know it's different after you've gone there the first time. Its what a cafe should be - small, cute, cozy, welcoming, and smelling like what it should - a cafe and good vibes, i'll get to the good vibes a bit later.
Food: They have the most delliicciioouuss desserts evveerr - I'm pretty sure, even Heston can't make a perfect Tiramisu as the unknown 95 chef (this person, i'd love to meet and kiss his/her hands). you might have heard of Lamination and Red velvet, ever heard of Red Velvet Laminton? Go to 95 to find one then... this is my fav.
Moving on for desserts, they have amazing and just the right range of brekkies, lunch and dinners too - a la cafe style! and they never hesitate to take your feedback and are always keen to know what better can be on their menu. The chef has mastered the perfect balance in all their dishes, burst of flavours, be it a simple burger or a wrap or a toastie or something extravagant.... food makes you enjoy itself, i can't elaborate my love for their food any furhter..
Needless to say, mouth watering coffee.
Cocktails - they're famous for their amazing $10 cocktails - This is one section on the menu I'm yet to try but I have no doubts that I will be amazed with their perfection yet again!
Cleanliness - this is by far the most important thing in any restaurant and again, 95 ticks it and how.
Net net - this is a place to be if you haven't been already. And if you have already been, I know this is your fav hop in for a quick coffee and bite if not a full meal...
Cost - it won't burn a hole in your bum.
Net net - my stars says it all :)
Passed through last time and saw this Tiramisu which was in square shape. Strong flavour in coffee and the cheese was so smooth. Staff was friendly and the decor was nice!
$7 ea and I think it is worth!!
Great little place great coffee and food very tasty I would recommend this place staff are friendly and professional this is cool hang out right on the strip
Great Coffee & Breakfast stands out amongst the many options on Acland Street. The pleasant staff makes the experience even better. Definitely a place to keep coming again and again
Been here for coffee and take away cakes.
Tiramisu is one of the top tiramisu I've had so far. Perfect texture, good balance of sweetness, coffee, and layers of mascarpon cheese and ladyfingers/cake.
The Macadamia cheesecake is not bad too. Love the crunchy crust and the sprinkled nuts between the cheese layers. If you like cheesecakes in general, then it's for you.
Price: abt $16 for 2 cakes
Funky, casual, unpretentious and popular with really great coffee (espresso is served with sparkling water) and nice breaky choices. My Turkish bread with bacon, egg and tomato relish hit the spot perfectly, and my partners Bercher Muesli was well received.
Came here for dessert on a late Saturday night. The front cabinet has a decent selection of tempting looking treats. Amongst them were apple crumble, tiramisu, cheesecake etc. We tried the Lemon Meringue Pie, which wasn't the best rendition of the classic dessert I have had but it was still enjoyable. The biscuit base was a bit too thin for my liking, and not quite short and buttery enough. The lemon curd filling and the meringue were great though; not overly sweet and relatively light and refreshing. We also tried the Gluten free brownie, which turned out to be way too dense and heavy. It was almost like eating a chunk of chocolate.
The baristas made us feel comfortable, pretty cool girls,Thanks.Their coffee beans seems from sensory lab.The cold drip is not bad.And we had a try for cappuccino with coconut, well, just not my taste.
I came here really late at night with a few friends when they were closing up the shop. They allowed us to get take away chai lattes even though they wanted to close. We also purchased cakes that are beautifully displayed in the window - excellent selling point.
The cafe itself is the standard small window front cafe that has an outdoor area working well with the newly tram and walking zone area of Acland St. The buskers make the area like it's from a movie! But back to the cafe.
The milk for the coffees and chai is perfectly froffed and not burnt. The lack of bubbles make the drinks have a natural creamy taste. The cakes were amazing - especially the red velvet lamington! The vanilla slice was creamy and not overly sweet like others that have an overpowering confectionery taste. The apple crumble was very traditional as was the tiramsu. The brownie was a little too chocolatey and needed some ice cream to cute through it (we did ask for it and they provided).
The chai is housemade and one of the best in Melbourne! It just tastes different to the others - better and different.
I will be back again to sit outside, soak in the atmosphere and eat and drink!
This little cafe doesn’t look like much from the outside, but 95 Espresso Bar does dish out some pretty satisfying food. Its an eatery open at least from 8am till midnight (even longer for Fri, Sat and Sun), serving up meals all throughout the day. Came for some brunch options and did enjoy it. Would recommend if in the area.
Just had some of the best breakfast in Melb. The staff are incredibly friendly, chai latte and cold drip a must try! If you are keen go for an espresso martini with real coffee! Thank you so much guys! :)
95 Degrees is in St Kilda and they have been around for a while. It is cute kitchy café with lots of homely decorations. It is rated one of the best coffee and tea places in Melbourne. Here they do filter coffee which I enjoy. Many of the locals would tell you its a good place. The service was friendly but it can be disorganised when they are busy as I saw in one case. They forgot to put in a lady's order for two hot chocolates and meringues.
I have been so alot of cafés in St Kilda and i keep going back to this one, the food is fantastic and the service is always amazing! Would recommend to everyone!
I've got nothing but positive things to say as a customer of 95 Espresso, I've always been made to feel welcomed by the kind and friendly staff who work there and the service is always great.
The vibe is really friendly and it has a relaxed and cozy feel to it.
It is true what they say say, the coffee at 95 really is the best and is made by some truly talented baristas who put love and care into each cup of coffee.
I also love their homemade well crafted chai blend that you just can't beat.
The food is always excellent and is made with great care and attention to detail with fresh, wholesome ingredients. They also have a well stocked window of a wide selection of yummy vegan desserts that go great with tea or a coffee.
Two thumbs up for sure!
First take away coffee at St. Kilda, and we were very impressed. Right temperature, sweet and creamy. There's a lot to like around here, so come on down and try everything.
Average coffee but nice chai latte. We ordered the chai latte for 2ppl and it was served with a jug which looks so unique and valued but after the first sip the taste and smell was too strong. So asking for less spice would make it better.
However, the tiramisu here is admittedly awesome, the cream is really fresh and strong flavor of coffee and I took away home another piece and it costed me $7 which is reasonable price for its taste.
Beers are also sold here! Ideal for all family members.
My local friend took me here for coffee and I was very impressed. We sat outside with her dog and all of the staff were so friendly, with a few of them taking time to give her dog lots of pats (and one even gave him a treat from the kitchen!). The coffee was great and I'll be back to try their yummy selection of cakes.
Best smashed avo I have ever had! The sundried tomatoes really added an extra kick to it.
The staff was super friendly and the service was quick and easy
Love this funky little cafe. Tight squeeze but lots of seats. A busy cafe with amazing coffee and good vibes. The staff are really great and know alot about their menu and coffee. Service was lovely!
Cosy cafe with awesome chai tea and coffee. But the real kicker is their "chaitini" and "mrs95" cocktails. Perfectly mixed and beautifully balanced. A must try if you come here.
On a visit to St Kilda to visit my daughter one weekend I discovered this little gem and couldn't stay Absolutely brilliant! The food, service, atmosphere and oh so friendly staff! I mentioned on the first visit that it was my daughter's birthday and when I went back the next day with my daughter, the waitress remembered and wished my daughter a happy birthday. Now that's what I call 5 star service! Recognition is such a rarity these days in this fast paced world.
The coffee's amazing too!
The cocktails here are works of art!! Try the RedVelvet Martini and the Chai-tini. I Would certainly go back for more. The service is very friendly and efficient.
My go to for lemon merengue pie in Melbourne!
Lovely service, great prices, a really good selection of wine and really yummy coffee!
Staff are warm and friendly and great venue to take your fury kids
Had brekkie here a few weeks back with a friend
Decent choice available on the menu
My soy latte was just heavenly! Like seriously I absolutely love the coffee here. They're very discreet about what coffee beans they use
Wish I knew what beans they use so I'd drink it all day :-)
Nice coffee and beautiful cakes. I like their cakes better than those from cake specialty shops on Acland street. Service can be a bit slow on weekends, but it’s worth trying.
Chai tea and nice staff! X
Excellent cakes. We ordered the Mars bar cheesecake, the carrot cake and the chocolate cake. I highly recommend the cheesecake - fresh, a little rich but delicious. The serving size was big, so it's best to order a couple of cakes and share with others.
I loved this place as soon as I walked in! The decor and vibe is amazing and the girls working are so lovely. Food was so good - the best avocado on toast I've ever laid eyes on. Coffee is to die for - I now know why there's a sign outside saying best coffee in st kilda. I wish I lived in melboure because this would definately be my daily.
Great Coffee. Best coffee in St Kilda. Lovely staff and great service.
95 Espresso Bar - St. Kilda, Brisbane. Out the front, there is a sign that says "Best Coffee in St. Kilda". I was encouraged to go to this place by my mother and sister, due to how well known it is that I like my coffee. That is about the extent of introduction here for me. With a two-year old in tow, it had to be done on the run; she can be a handful and does not like to be seated for long periods of time, and not to forget the mess she can make with food. From the outside looking in, the place has that amalgam of a rustic and hip vibe going for it. There is the spacious inside, has low-hanging, dim lighting and it uses mostly wood for the decor. Around the front, there is a bar with plenty of stools. Walkthrough traffic has a big window out the front in which to take and pick up orders. It seems like they got all the needed bases covered.
In terms of the service, there is not much to talk about with relativity. For a simple takeaway coffee and cake order, it was good enough. They had the trendy, alternative vibe for them and they were pleasantly quick with their service. It is done efficiently, and there are numerous machines going at once with the high demand and popularity.
Always keen for coffee, and needing to get immersed in the land's coffee capital, it was high time to try a coffee from here. Double shot cappuccino On the board were a couple of specialty blends on offer, including one specifically for cold drip. One that took my eye was a blend that came from Nicaragua, which was a fruity mixture of different berries. Choosing that one, it was had a good flavour and fantastic body - the coffee was well crafted and I can see the appeal of it from coffee aficionados around Melbourne. It is hard to describe what makes the passably good different from the brilliant, but in cases like this you just know.
Deciding to get something to share with my niece, it was another lot of window gazing out the front. Her mother has a price limit for getting babycinos, and it was surpassed here so no babycino this time around. However, there was still getting something to share with her getting back to the apartment. The range of sweets are merely one aspect for 95 Espresso, which has a hipster-aimed breakfast menu, plus a menu for small lunches and plenty of cocktails after hours. Nevertheless, the range of options on the menu is enticing at any point.
Regardless, a few took my eye and it was decided eventually on a Raspberry Mudcake. A nice little touch on this sweets was a small macaroon on top giving it a look similar to a cupcake. That was reserved for the niece, I made sure of it. One thing was for sure, she was a big fan of the cake and the macaroon. The cake was great quality, and not overbearing with a thick layer of chocolate that tends to be associated with mudcake. Even divided in half, it was a substantial morsel. The texture was soft and crumbly, moist with bits of chocolate flavour throughout and a hint of raspberry in the middle.
Even in the age of various avenues for reviewing, sometimes the best ways to stumble upon a good find is passively walking by. Although this was not the first time noting that sign, the sign was enough to entice trying out the place. While as a whole, it cannot really be discussed too much, as a place to get a coffee it is fairly convincing so far as being one of the best contenders in the local area as such, and it is a place that is saturated with options. It is one place that just might well be getting another visit from me next time I am in the area.
Best espresso martinis ever. If you are a fan of a good espresso martini do yourself a favour and go see Z
He is an absolute artist!
The creamiest gorgeous coffee martinis and delicious shots. Makes a great end or start of an evening.
Always very friendly service.
Highly recommended
Enjoy!
Probably the best coffee and cake I have ever had. And I have had a lot of both!!
Red velvet cupcake and berry cheesecake where shared and both absolutely amazing. Coffee was perfection.
Will be back to work through rest of the coffee cake combos!
As I live around the corner I get coffee here all the time and it is always good. The baristas are always charming and polite and I rarely wait long for my coffee.. They now also offer almond milk which is becoming increasingly common in st Kilda and is definitely appreciated.
We walked in, we're asked "takeaway?" When we said "no here" we were signed to take a seat. It's refreshing to go into a coffee shop and not have to pay for everything before you sit down like you are going to do a runner after your coffee. We sat for about 30 seconds had our order taken, about a minute after we sat down water came over to the table, less than 3 minutes after sitting down our coffee's were sitting in front of us. Now that's service. When in St Kilda next we'll be back to 95 Espresso. Thanks for having us.
The freshly made muffins in this place are AMAZING!!! I go here just for them!! Dont be fooled by all the show pony cakes in the windows of surrounding cafes... If you want a cake that actually tastes nice this is the place!! Mmm white chocolate raspberry macademia muffin nom nom nom :D
Much love. Beautiful coffee, especially the cold-drip! I feel blessed that this place is just around the corner from my work
Food: Better than expected.
Service: Quite fast.
Location: Main strip, good vibe, especially on a nice sunny day.
Value: Well priced and certainly get a little more than you pay for.
Summary: Great place to settle for if you can't make up your mind among the 50 billion restaurants and cafes around. Quick, reliable, and not pretentious. Not far from beach and Luna Park.
Don‘t understand why the rating was 3.9 at the time I visited! Really good cappucino and amazing avo smash on toast with poached eggs. The presentation of the food was amazing and it tasted even better 😋 forgot to take a picture though 🙈
The meals are not bad. But the bathroom is very dirty. Also the cafe/bar has an awful smell of the staff member/s terrible BO (body odour). We're not going here again.
Great little cafe with an artistic vibe - friendly service, coffee was fantastic, nice and strong as I’d ordered it, the breakfasts we had were perfectly cooked runny poached eggs and light and silky scrambled eggs. Unfortunately the avocado was past its prime and shouldn’t have been served but overall it was great.
Great coffee there this morning with one of your regulars. I'll have to come back soon and try your food, the menu looks tasty 😋
