Review Pb's Bar & Eatery - St Kilda

We stumbled across this place and it was such a nice surprise. Steph the waitress made a real effort to accomodate us. During our trip to Melbourne, it was the best hospitality we experienced. Highly recommend this place. The pizza and wine are outstanding ⭐️

We had such a ball here at karaoke and trivia, the pizzas were great, the atmosphere too, and Steph was so lovely! Thank you 💓

Genuinely great food and amazing service. Fully surpassed expectations. Attended an all you can eat pizza and cocktails and received ample food in good time. Occasionally waiting to place an order but drinks and pizza were prompt following and delicious. Unreal service and we were given free shots just for being pleasant customers (:

Host Steph was amazing. Awesome customer service. Had drinks and pizza. What better way to spend weekend with mates.

This place is very quaint, pizza was yum! Calamari and mac & cheese croquettes were alright. Main issue was an insanely long wait for our drinks which came after our food was finished and we checked in with the waiter to ask where they were. The staff did kindly give a small discount off the bill though.

During lockdown we had takeaway Margherita and Pepperoni pizzas and both were mouthwatering, simply the best. Now that summer is back and PB's has re-opened, we're looking forward to trying a wood-fired pizza in the casual dine-in atmosphere.
Vanessa Catibog
The atmosphere of PB Pizza bar had old school vintage touch which really bring its together! The staff are very welcoming, vibrant & friendly. Steph was a doll! Looking forward to their dog club event!!

Amazing wood fired pizzas! The vegan pizzas were the best we’ve had as well. The waitress Steph was so lovely and took care of us all night. We’ll be back soon for sure
Gastrology
http://www.gastrology.co/article/pbs-bar-eatery PB's Bar & Eatery celebrates the Italian way by embracing the joy of sharing locally sourced, fresh produce together with family and friends. The heart of Italian cuisine and culture is at the core of the new menu, with every dish on the menu created using traditional flavours and techniques that have been brought over from Italy, handed down through generations of Nonna’s and Nonno’s to be recreated right here in Melbourne, Australia’s food capital.

As expected from any great Italian eatery, PB's Bar & Eatery make excellent pasta dishes. The lasagna we had was full of flavour.

For mains, the pizzas were superb. Of particular note was the pumpkin pizza - picture perfect in appearance and outstanding in taste. We loved the layers of caramelised onion, pumpkin, mozzarella, feta, pumpkin seeds and pesto which created a delightful fusion of flavours that would keep any pizza purist happy. Encircled with a puffy crisp crust, this pizza was superb!

Such a good pizza!!!!! Wood fired, fresh, perfect crust with generous and well balanced toppings. What more can you ask for?! You know when you’re onto a good pizza when:
1. Even their Hawaiian pizza is delicious.
2. The crust is still crispy by the time you dig into the final slice.
Service was friendly and exceptional.
Well done team. We will be back for more!

MY GOODNESS SO SOGGY
Wen't for all you can eat pizza and all you can drink beer/wine. My partner got regular pizza and i went for a vegan option for +$4. All you can drink only had one option for beer, one for red and one for white tap wine. Wish they had more options for drinks.
My partner really enjoyed his pizza and it looked great My vegan pizza was soggy beyond words. I even got a second different one with less toppings just hoping that it would hold better- still as soggy. Like i couldn't even pick up a slice-all toppings would slide right off together with the runny cheesy sauce. Such a shame as it tasted really good but i almost asked for a spoon to eat it. I think they should just go for a different vegan cheese brand that's not as runny, there's heaps of good ones out there!
Still giving it a 3 stars for the service, overall taste and the non-vegan pizzas.

Went on Tuesday 9th of July, there were three tables of four in our party, we chose the bottomless pizza option, ordered while the restaurant was quite all went well. Two tables had there orders delivered some 70mins after placing the order and when the waitress saw our waiting table she indicated that our orders had been lost, it took 90mins for us to get our pizza (the bottomless pizza deal only lasts 2 hours), but not to worry the pizza wasn't good enough for you to want more than one anyway

Nice place, wonderful selection of yummy pizzas and it’s also baby friendly. I am a stickler for high quality pizza having eaten pizzas all over the world and in Italy of course. Very few places in Melbourne let alone Australia impress me but this place sure did. The staff are really friendly and good with babies, the pizza was great(the base and toppings were just right) and everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.
Julie MacKay
A variety of more fancy, gourmet type pizzas than the regular kind that you get at regular pizza shops. Service was good with water being provided and topped up regularly. A little bit rude though when one staff member spoke to and interrupted another staff member who was in the middle of serving us. I guess sometimes things are urgent, but really he should have waited until she finished with us before speaking to her. A bit noisy outside on the street, but that adds to the atmosphere if that’s what you want. The décor is in the rustic style. Pizzas were good, enjoyed them.

Outstanding food and service. Love the cocktails! Pizzas and bruschetta boards are phenomenal. We go here at least once a week and wish they were open for lunch
Comfy Chairs
Been here almost weekly for the last six months for take away. The most amazingly friendly service is only exceeded by the consistently yummy pizza. Perfection on a plate. Love this place.
Shaun
My fav place to get pizzas in St Kilda. They serve authentic Italian pizza, made the right way and looks good. Lovely thin base and crust, and fresh ingredients. The bruschetta was good too. The concise menu is well put together.

The owner/manager is really friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is great, especially at the outdoor covered terrace.

Love the foods especially chocolate mouse. Very kind staff helping ur order and chatting with. My stomach didn’t have space for pizza that day, i will definitely come back again for it.

Sometimes you find the best when you least expect it - Pizza E Birra definitely sits in that category. I was just looking for a quick dinner before catching a gig when I found this authentic little spot with probably the best Italian I've had in Melbourne!. Walking in I have to admit...I was pretty apprehensive. The interior was standard with not much atmosphere which wasn't helped with how quiet it was. Looks can be deceiving though and once the food came out....boy did my opinion change.
Linnie Eats All The Food
Pizza, everyone loves a good ol’ wood fired pizza and what’s even better? When you get 2 hours of all you can eat pizza for only $20 pp. Remember that this is only on a Thursday and be sure to make a booking because it does get busy. Oh for those big drinkers, if you pay $35, not only will you get all you can eat pizzas but you can also get all you can drink beer as well (put your eating pants on yo!). Anywho, inside was bustling and full of laughter. The lovely staff showed us to our table outside and it wasn’t too cold since there’s heaters out there.

My partner and I moved to the area at the start of the year and put Pizza E Birra on our list of 'Must Try'. We recently went in a few weeks ago and loved it. The service was great - very friendly and knowledgable about the food and wine options (helped make good recommendations). We ended up sharing a bottle of Sangiovese (as per recommended) and shared a pizza, some BBQ lamb skewers (which were on the Sunday Special) and a Charcuterie Platter. All were so delicious - we were very satisfied. I often don't gravitate towards the free bread baskets but they were so salty and tasty (clouds of dough heaven- yes I said that!) that I couldn't help myself.

Will definitely be coming back soon to try one of the specials.
Split The Bill
Traditional Italian BBQ is happening here til the end of summer. We wrre fortunate to be invited on a Sunday afternoon sitting in the new outside beer garden under the palm trees with the smell of the coal bbq provided by the fat sleep grill. Such an amazing location in St Kilda. We enjoyed sitting on the outside couches sipping on aperol spritz and watching the chef cook his lamb speciality. The lamb skewers were unlike anything we had tried before. Very small cuts of meat & only seasoned with salt..so simple yet so so delicious. Accompanied by some delicious focaccia bread what else could you want on a relaxed Sunday afternoon. The husband and wife owners were so welcoming and great company

Not impressed. I’ll tell you everything wrong with our experience when we went here over the last week. We show up at about 10 minutes before our booking, the restaurant was empty. Ordered one drink, ended up that a family member had to ask 3 different waiters in order to receive it (took about 35 minutes to finally receive it). Chef who we could see (one chef by the way) began cooking our food AFTER the appetisers. We ended up getting our meals 1 hour and 25 minutes after our arrival. We were seriously contemplating heading to the pub over the road during that time. Over the course of that time the waiters completely disappeared from the outside dining area to avoid conflict. Not only did we wait that long, our pasta was undercooked and didn’t even taste like carbonara. My siblings’ gnocchi that I sampled tasted like unwashed spinach in a bland sauce. Good luck to anyone who decides to go here. They call themselves Pizza e Birra, but you’ll be asking the waiter 3 times in order to receive either.
Good Food Good Mood
An absolute delight to dine as guests of Pizza E Birra last night to sample their recently changed menu. Open just over a year they are absolutely nailing authentic Italian food. Using the freshest highest quality ingredients and delicious cooking techniques they offer traditional fare done exceptionally well.
We started with the eggplant parmigiana and the calamari. For a rustic dish the eggplant plates up beautifully and the crispy rocket garnish wasn’t merely there for appearances sake it actually served as a really interesting textural element. These were both good choices to start the meal as we wanted to avoid bready items to save room for the signature dessert pizza! The eggplant itself was smooth and sweet and the sauce brought that acidity to complement and highlight the produce.
We opted to share a pasta and a pizza between the two of us. The bufala pizza was a sensation. Such a classic dish and one of my go to orders this rendition was an absolute showstopper. It’s always baffled me why people cook beautiful buffalo mozzarella, in this instance it was allowed to shine simply placed atop the pizza in all its glory drizzled with EVOO. You can serve me that any day of the week. We were both hard pressed to think of an occasion where we’ve had better pizza. A perfect thin crispy base that wasn’t remotely dry or too hard, a beautifully balanced tomato sauce and high quality fresh ingredients.
The 36 hour slow cooked veal osso bucco on house made pasta was fantastic. A real homely dish you can imagine Nonna used to make. Beautifully tender meat, perfectly cooked pasta and quite a generous serve to boot. Comfort food at its best.
Dessert always gets me excited and the pizza raffaello did not disappoint. I’ve been obsessed with raffaello chocolates for as long as I can remember always considering them superior to the more popular mainstream ferrero rocher so I am ecstatic someone thought to put them on a pizza and what a delicious pizza it was. Topped with coconut flakes, chocolate sauce and a scoop of yummy gelato it made a nice change from the choc plus strawberry combo dessert pizzas that have proliferated the Melbourne dining scene.
An even more unique number was the cappellini which were artfully presented crepes swimming in a little chocolate soup. As you cut into the crepes you were delighted with a lovely raspberry cream which worked beautifully with the sweetness of the dish and I adored the crispy mint on there too.
Overall simply outstanding. I can quite honestly tell you I don’t remember food tasting that good in Italy

Very impressed with pizza e birra. I love my Italian food and my expectations have increased since coming back from my European holiday a few months ago. The menu is full of village style options and the location makes it even better.
The wood fire pizzas seem to live up to expectations and the entrees such as the tomato/ buffalo mozzarella salad and calamari are worth it for those who love a starters. Will definitely be coming back soon

Just wow! Delicious food, friendly service, and cozy restaurant. I think they are most famous for their brick oven pizza's but opted for the spaghetti carbonara because I knew I'd be able to get a couple slices from the friends I went with... and again just wow. The pizza was just amazing in every aspect.. Base, sauce, toppings, and uniqueness. I have never seen full prawns on a pizza before haha. Will definitely come back again when I want to impress friends with authentic Italian cuisine and a couple bottles of wine (; Many thanks!

Sincerely,

My stomach

Mama mia the best pizza in Melbourne!👌🍕💣❤ Woww from the pizza base to the quality ingredients and service, this has been an amazing experience! One of the best places in Melbourne for traditional quality Italian style pizza 👌🍕👌 the vino selection is especially good, particularly the Tenuta Uliesse from Abruzzo 🍷👌 the dessert pizza is like no other with chocolate base and Ferraro Roche and strawberry on top! Simply deliciouse 👌💣❤

Delicious pizza, got the patata pizza. Overall great balance of flavours, toppings were fresh and generous. I thought the crust was really good and crispy, a little burnt on some edges but that's to be expected with most traditional pizzas like these.
Chloe
House sitting again this time St Kilda! I'm always up for a bit of Italian and chose this on that basis haha. We ordered the garlic focaccia to start with and the pizza was soo fluffy and light! I ordered the pomodoro which I know is plain but what can I say 💁🏻. The pasta tasted homemade and it was very tasty 😄. CAN I JUST SAY THE NUTELLA PIZZA 😱 it was literally one of the best things I've ever eaten hands down cannot describe how good this is. Yes it even had mini meringue on it 😄. Overall, the staff were very friendly and the food made me wish I was Italian 😂
Maryella
Authentic italian food with interesting choices. Great service and atmosphere. Good wine and beer selection too. Highly recommended !I will be back.

So disappointed with our pizza from here. It looked colourful. You could tell they used good quality ingredients, and the pizza was ok, but parts of the pizza were soggy - the mozzarella was too wet, and other parts were burnt. Same with the garlic bread, it was too hard and dry it parts, like it had also been overcooked. The tomato sauce on the base was always far too sweet. Definitely not the experience other people had. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, maybe it was because we ordered take out instead of eating it, but I definitely did not eat the same pizza as many of the other reviewers.
Mobwife
An amazing selection of starter dishes with my favourite being the octopus salad (so tender!) and the fried gnocchi pillows. Yum! The mouthwatering pizzas cooked to perfection are always enjoyable, even when delivered. Not to forget the easy to eat pastas and amazing array of desserts such as the Ferrero Richer pizza or the pink strawberry pizza. I'm not a big fan of beer but there's a cocktail or vino for every taste as well. The restaurant features vino from Podere Castorani (by ex F1 driver Jarno Trulli). Cannot wait to come back

After seeing so many great Zomato reviews I decided to try Pizza E Birra on Friday night. The restaurant is beautifully set up and is very cosy. If you have taken a recent walk down Fitzroy St lately you will notice that many of the cafe's/restaurants have shut shop and I certainly hope that Pizza E Birra stays put for a while. The waiter helped me choose a stunning Italian wine and he was super helpful and a great host. My pizza was absolutely divine with a perfect thin but not too thin crust. No sogginess, fresh ingredients and the pizza was made with love
Laura
Great service, very attentative and great recommendations and advice on menu. Kept our water topped up and always made sure we were ok with drinks. Wine was delicious and the 'speck' pizza is to die for! Perfect base and evenly spread toppings....topped it of with the dessert pizza which is on a chocolate base and a cheeky dessert wine.
They run this place with passion and heart...keep it up guys!
Sakiko Iida
It was very gooood! I ordered mozzarella salad and seafood pizza with glass of sparkling. I like this pizza dough so flaver and texture was so nice. Also staff was very friendly and cool.
It's my favorite restaurant!!
Simone Di Stefano
Perfect place to have a good pizza with friends or partner! I've been there twice from the new management and pizza was delicious...me and my friend shared a Porcini pizza and a Rustica pizza; they looked good and the taste was better.Really suggested.
Kathy
Delicious Pizza! be sure to make a booking as there is limited seating inside. Wait staff are friendly and incredibly attentive. Amazing Italian wine and beer (on tap too). Freshly cut meats to order.
Only negative is that we had to wait a little while for the food to come out, other than that, definitely give this place a try!
Quality Not Quanity
Great place staff is friendly very attentive great location food tastes amazing I give this a 10 out of 10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ definitely recommend this place to everyone

Date night is every Wednesday as it's been for almost three years , another gem located in our fabulous city .. this is a must try for pizza lovers
Service was spot on .. only criticism was the mussels were a tad on the cold side other than that , we will come back here and bring some friends

Wow...awsome pizza pasta and service, the pizza fior di fragola with pink base, strawberries pastry cream, cream, meringues and dry mint its amazing...thank s for this experience

Went here for a Sunday afternoon feast. From sides to mains they are pretty good. The cocktails were deelish! Though the pizza was a little soggy. The dessert pizza was the highlight.
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
As its name might suggest, Pizza e Birra takes pride in their pizza and alcohol offering, but there’s also plenty of seafood gracing the menu; a reflection of their seaside location. Chef Dario D’Agostino teamed up with Joe Codespoti to take the reins of Pizza e Birra three months ago. D’Agostino and his partner Ly Nguyen also run Long Story Short, the same cafe that has wowed Melbourne with their mesmerising hot chocolate spheres.

Feels like a little piece of Italy in St Kilda Melbourne (perfectly located too). I loved their Italian cuisine on a "summer day" but the stand out for me was the authenticity and freshness of it all. The venue also feels modern and trendy that matches the vibe of the restaurant.

Firstly, the friendly staff we're happy to advise me about their menu. I ended up ordering the prosciutto e melone, which was one of my favourites, patata (pizza bianca-no tomato sauce) and the and brioche siciliana. I've had versions of the prosciutto e melone before but this one was amazing! The shaved melone gave the right proportions to prosciutto on each mouthful. It was the same for the patata pizza, which was the best I've had of the potato pizzas around melbourne.

I finished off with the brioche that could do no wrong. I'm definitely going to run back for the dessert "strawberry pizza" - pizza fior di fragola. I just couldn't fit any more food in!

Love this spot and highly recommend 👌🏽

Conveniently located between two tram stops on route 96, Pizza E Birra sits on the corner with indoor and outdoor courtyard seating (tip: get off at the tram stop in front of woolworths, St Kilda Station stop, to save you waiting for the large intersection lights). The music playing was trendy and hip, making it a perfect place to hang out for a drink and a pizza/pasta or two with friends.

If you've been to Pizza E Birra in the past, then come try the restaurant again as it is under new management and the team brings with them a wealth of experience from their very successful cafe, Long Story Short. The focus from the team is on the ingredients used in their food and the experience while dining; which was straight away evident to me through the serving of complimentary bottled still water at no charge and the only charge is for sparkling (brings me back to Italy where every restaurant served bottled still water).

The wine, sparkling, beer and cocktails menu has a good selection; there's literally something for everyone. This menu is filled with Italian wines and sparkling wine with some cocktails bringing an Italian twist by using Italian wines and liqueurs.

The food menu is separated into sharing plates, salads, white base pizza, red base pizza, calzone, pasta and desserts. Between the two of us, we had an item off the sharing menu, pizza, pasta and dessert (and we were full!). For me, the highlight was the very tender grilled calamari, the very thin and crispy base on the pizza and an actual knife that easily cuts through the pizza (I normally struggle with what I can only describe as butter knives and pizza so I usually opt to eat with my hands)!

Breaking down the food (which were all a good serving size), the calamari salad had the most tender calamari I have ever had and not a strong presence of the chilli oil while the wilted radicchio brought a slight bitterness to this sharing dish. The beef ragu pasta we had was cooked al dente, with the pasta still feeling firm but cooked and not hard/uncooked, and served with a small amount of finely shredded beef and slices of olive. The pizza was light with a tomato pizza paste and crispy thin base which was sliced up to make 6 pieces. The pizza dish was served on top of a used tomato tin can to save table space while adding to the overall rustic feel. The dessert pizza was a delightful warm chocolate/ferrero rocher heaven and beautifully presented with berries and meringues on top and would have gone perfectly with the vanilla gelato which was unfortunately left behind (not that we noticed until we were half way through the pizza!). Tea was served in a nice heavy pot with real tea leaves and provided a generous 3 cups of tea to enjoy and ponder over.

Dishes that make up this review:
- St. Lucia; prosecco, limoncello, fresh lemon juice, honey syrup and basil ($17)
- 2013 P. Castorani Cadetto ($9.50 glass)
- Insalata di calamari; grilled calamari salad, wilted radicchio and chilli oil ($23)
- Capricciosa; tomato, ham, mushrooms, artichoke, olives and fior di latte ($22)
- Rigatoni al Ragu; rigatoni, beef ragu, olives, aged parmesan ($25)
- Pizza ferrero rocher; chocolate pizza, ferrero rocher, dry meringue, berries and vanilla bean gelato ($17)
- Green tea ($4.50 for a pot)

The Fo0die dined as a guest of Pizza E Birra, as such the review does not take into consideration customer service.

Follow me on Instagram for more photos: @fo0die

Pizza Super. An affordable price. A good buy. Suitable for the whole family to eat. Should like to make an appointment at the weekend. Business was great right next to the station

Great location to eat Italian pizza or pasta! Pizza dough and fresh ingredient carefully prepared. If you love chocolate, try Pizza Ferrero in desert 😍

After a very long day, we ordered some pizzas with my friends and we were blown away by the majesty of this place! The service was incredibly nice, the food was spwctacular and the dessert was out of this world. I would recommend to anyone!

The Spaghetti Carbonara is just incredibly good! I love the ambiance and the hospitality as well. I ordered an Italian beer for drink. And also Pizza Ferero Rocher for dessert. It was sooo nice!

While our visit to this pizzeria a couple of years back wasn’t overly impressive, it is clear that under the management and oversight of new owner Giuseppe, the restaurant has most definitely turned a new leaf.
Providing such an authentic experience, one that mimics so closely of Italy, is no easy feat, but Pizza e Birra has most definitely pulled it off, sporting some of the most authentic methods of preparing foods, as well as near flawless execution.

披薩🍕挺好味的,cheese不膩味也很好入口。service贊贊的👍,小哥也很美,環境也很nice,紅酒也挺好喝~ excellent place to stay and have dinner , food here although a little salty but tasty anyway. (Maybe that's a Italian style )And the price is average price and the service is good.

Fantastic food journey here.I have tried several different Pizza and pasta. Each one taste awesome.Besides, the staff provided engaging service all the time!I will come back!

DO: The crab arancini, pasta carbonara, rustica pizza and seafood pizza.

DON'T: Forget about the desserts and order the strawberry or chocolate pizza. Because we had so much pizza, we opted for the chocolate brioche and deconstructed tiramisu instead.

TIP: Best you go with a group of people so you can try an assortment of items... or be fat like us and amaze the waiter by ordering a lot of items haha.

Having a very nice dinner with my lovely new friends to night, everything is so good here.很喜欢pizzaebirra的Gamberi(罗勒酱pizza),我们非常喜欢这里轻松愉快的环境,很适合朋友聚会

It is a silent restaurant near to the seaside!I really like the Pizza and pasta here!I will come next time with my mom!You can choose the window place that would be fine.

I hear that pizza e birra has changed management so i decided go there for dinner! I'm really surprise by how this place is better than before, completely different! Amazing food, great wine list and good service! Recommended

We found out that Pizza e Birra is under new management and decided to give it a go. That was a good decision as we were delighted by the real clean flavours of Italy. Great selection of starters and antipasti mainly seafood. Wow! Hard to find a restaurant that dares to offer such a variety. I tried the sicilian cous cous with mixed seafood and i was blown away as all flavours and textures are in perfect balance. I ckuld not decide on my pizza because of the big selection in offer and finally i decided to keep it simple choosing a bufala pizza with fresh bufalo mozzarella. Awesome! Desserts were quite original and i could not miss their version of the tiramisu. Pleasant discovery. Great ambience and service and all at reasonable price. Well done guys, you have
New regulars. Please keep it up. 👍👍👍

Came here last Friday with my family, really good food and great service. New staff, new menu and the venue is nice, clean and great atmosphere. We really enjoyed our meal so we came back on New Years Eve. Very happy

I think this place has changed owners. As we were waiting for food we watched a random guy keep making trips to Woolworths next door. Kitchen looked a mess and cutlery brought out was dirty. Being pregnant I didn't want to risk eating the food but my husband did and now has stomach cramps. New owners should be careful, poor food handling is dangerous. The lovely waitress was on her second shift and was very apologetic about the food and place. Felt sorry for her!

I came here many years ago and returned this time using a Groupon Voucher. They treated us equally while having the voucher. Food menu has changed since last time but same good quality. We ordered anti pasto platter for enter which was nice. For main I ordered San Danielle pizza. Prosciutto was great and same good old Italian style they used to have. We also had Pasta with chilli prawn which was nice as well. For dessert we had chocolate mousse and panacota and both were awesome too. Service was fast and both waitresses were extra nice. They gave us nice packaging for our takeaway as well. I cannot find a single issue or improvements required. Not sure what others experienced but on point for me. This is the first time I give 5/5. Well done guys.
Alfonso Martínez Arranz
We came in group of 12. Pizza came late, was poor quality, waiters didn't understand orders... Even of local beers. This place does not deserve 140 characters
Nicholas Renwick
The fact it was empty on a Saturday night should have been the give away. Didn't need to book, especially as they hadn't even set aside a table for us. The staff then proceeded to clear away the table settings for our guests yet to arrive.

They seemed shocked by the contents of their own menu with each item ordered. Struggled to make the drinks. We asked for all the food (three items) to come at once. That was beyond their comprehension or ability. One item arrived, 40 minutes later, the next. Mozzarella in the caprese salad was tasteless. Pizza and Arancini were nice but no better than La Porchetta.

The ordeal that was paying the cheque made me want to walk into traffic. We were splitting the bill in half. I had to type out the amounts on a calculator for the staff member. When she didn't have the right change in the till, a man appeared from the back, took our $50 and went to get change, from Woolies presumably. With no explanation, we stood and waited. A while.

If you like performance art in the style of Fawlty Towers, this show is for you!

First time visit and can say best pizza I ever had. My bf had chicken parmigiana was really good. Service was quite slow we wait for the food. Overall food was amazing what we went for 👍.

Waited a very long time for our meals including the entree (over an hour). Ordered the prosciutto wrapped scallops and a small piece of prosciutto was place on top of bland scallops. The seafood risotto had a lovely flavor but the mussles were overlooked. My friends garlic chili prawns came without chili and had to put the chili flakes on it in hindsight. Simple things like being offered Parmesan and keeping up with drinks wasn't done. Most of the wine was out of stock. It seemed very understaffed and the serving area was unclean. One of the waitresses was very lovely and clearly taking be brunt of the issues. The bar next door had great music though

Delivery arrived 50 mins late, the pizza was missing the prosciutto and the calamari was rubbery and missing the basil dip. Utterly disappointed and the restaurant wouldn't do anything about it other than an apology.

We visited again recently before a function in St Kilda. Sadly I don't think we'll be back and the restaurant used to be one of our favourites in the area. The menu has changed and some of the regular stand out items like Duck Papardelle and Lasagna pizza are no longer. Service was ok, feels like new ownership? My prosecco was flat and my pasta was a bit gritty with large chunks of ham rather than thinly sliced. I think it may be time for a revamp and upgrade?

We were so disappointed with this restaurant. Firstly the garlic and chilli prawn spaghetti that I ordered was so tiny (definitely NOT worth $25!), and it looked like the ingredients were all 'chucked' onto the plate. I could taste the tomato - straight out of a can!! Bland, boring - and the spaghetti was all cut up! I am not a kid!!

My husband's puttanesca pizza was ok - crust alright but the pizza was quite soggy. Why charge so much for such mediocre quality of food?!?!

We definitely won't be coming back.

What a great find. I came here with my family and we were all so pleased with both the service and the food. Our meals came very fast and the waitress was so helpful when discussing dietary requirements and wine recommendations. I had the pumpkin risotto and it was beautiful!!

Very disappointing, service was horrible, waitress was dippy. We tried getting the waitress attention but they didn't make eye contact. What a shame especially being Fitzroy street. Next time get waitresses who are not in la la land.

Horrible establishment, firstly we weren't greeted on arrival, then we sat for ages waiting for a menu and water, then even more time for any one to even acknowledge that we wanted to order. Then after we asked how much longer the food would be we were given attitude by staff saying they were very busy, when there was hardly anyone in there. Finally one of our two pizzas came out, but 10mins later the second one did and it was the wrong pizza (a seafood pizza, for a vegetarian). Horrible service.

Ok the food here is pretty awesome but I had to wait a rather painful two hours and ten minutes to get it delivered. I was fobbed off with an array of lame excuses (the best one was there was a road closure which somehow prevented the driver driving from St Kilda to Toorak or finding any alternative route?!), and then when it finally arrived the pizza was cold and looked like it had actually been in a car accident (which I suppose would explain the road closure story).
I asked for a discount which they gave me in the end to their credit, but the whole experience was a helluva mission for a normally cruisy Sunday night take away.
Great food, shocking delivery service.
Munching Melbourne
Best pizza I've had in Melbourne. The bases are what do it. Super thin and puffy with a nice little char on it while still being a little chewy on the inside. Chuck a few quality ingredients on top and you've got yourself a seriously good pizza.

The food is very nice but the staff is a let down. I ordered the Margherita and it was a good portion size and very tasty. Although the restaurant was almost empty the staff were eating food, on their phones and forgot small details like table water. Our waiter also yelled at us across the room to ask us if we were ready to order. I would go back for the food but the staff needs to be more presentable and professional.

Ordered for 6:15 on line and arrived at 6:45 and to top that all food was cold! Very disappointed!!!
Stuck In Transit
A simple eatery with beautiful wood fire pizza and a generous selection of beer, what a perfect combination! Pizza, calzone and focaccie all make the list including some delicious traditional pastas for those looking for something a bit heavier.

Overall, I was pleased with my meal at Pizza e Birra. While it looks like a place for a long leisurely dinner, the staff knew that I needed to rush back home to get work done so I was in and out within the half hour. The service and the amazing pizza was definitely enough for me to return, this time for a longer dinner.

We were taking a visitor to St Kilda and needed a spot for a latish dinner and settled on Pizza e Birra conveniently sited at the end of the light rail portion of the number 96 route. As it was a Friday before Christmas we wondered if it would be busy, but there were plenty of tables available. The fit out was fresh and the large windows let us look out across Fitzroy St.

My favourite pizza place, however services needs to improve or else I may not visit much longer....there is only one staff member who knows how to serve customers!

Quiet, but not sure why. Amazing food, fantastic wait staff. Recommend the gnocchi and the sweet pizza dessert.

Nutella Calzone. WHERE DO I BEGIN? This place is absolutely amazing, there isn't just GREAT food but also the atmosphere is great. It's a beautiful restaurant, set out perfectly..I had my birthday dinner there and had the Margherita which was delicious. The Nutella calzone is absolutely to die for, I cannot go there without ordering that, PLEASE TRY! The first night I went to pizza e Birra I feel in love and have kept on going back since. i have come numerous times, trying a wide range of wood oven pizzas and pastas such as the Pizza e Birra speciale, Margherita, Lasagna Di Nonna Rosa, Parpadella (not sure on spelling) and the porcino. There is always great service, all very friendly and help full. The only downside to pizza e Birra is that it'll change the way you eat pizza forever [not saying that's bad ;) ]

AMAZINGGGG. Just had the most amazing gnocchi (spinach and riccotta) here YUMMMM I can not wait to tell every one about this place if I knew it was this good I would have come a long time ago credits to the chef you are amazing

Hmmm. A group of us ordered some pizza and pastas to share. The pizzas were tasty and the pastas were ok. I do think the cutlery and crockery need an update..chipped plates and lipstick-stained glasses are a big turn-off!

BUARRRKING AMAZING!. When i first arrived at pizza e birra I knew it was a special place. The friendly smile from the bald man behind the bar really made my day. The service is amazing. If you get served by Luigi you are in for a good night. Now let's talk about the real stuff, the food. I personally ate a perfectly cooked lasagna al forno made with different types of meat and delicious melted cheese. BUONISSIMA!!!!! The pasta is so good my nonna was impressed. That's a very hard thing to do and the nutella pizza was toooo dieeee forrr. Dio mio! The chocolate just oooozes out of the perfect crescent calzone and the strawberries compliment the taste to perfection. Add a slab of ice cream on that bad boy and get ready for a full blown mouth-ganism. All in all the service was outstanding and the food was also. 10/10 Would go there again, 10/10 would take a girl there on our first date so romantic.!

Fab food horrendous service. The pizza is just out of this world and the duck ragu is phenomenal but when its only 2 of you and you are here for 3 hrs you know the service needs work. It took 30min for anyone to take our drinks order and a further 30min to get a basic cocktail. If they could get the service right the place would be a winner.

It's pretty hard to stuff up a Margareta pizza... Food was below average, service (or lack there of) was some what amusing, not sure if the waitress even knows her own name! Pizza was good but pasta meals lacking in that traditional Italian love that you look forward to when eating Italian.
Pretty disappointed

Just returned from an impromptu diner at Pizza e Birra. The food was delicious! Gnocchi just like my mum used to make. Imported beers that I've never even heard of. Service was quick and friendly...management even came to see if we were enjoying our meal. Small and an intimate dining venue, not loud, thoroughly recommend!

Fallen by the wayside. What a shame as this used to be a warm, inviting and quality restaurant. Gnocchi ($21) had to be sent back as they didn't cook it in the wood fired oven (as per menu). In my opinion, once you start cutting corners, it's a slippery slope. Probably won't pay top dollar for that again.
Billy
It used to be a good place, until they have changed their staff/management. I had to ask 4 times for my beer to be served and forgot basil on my "basilica" pizza (they eventually brought some basil in a cup for me to add it on my pizza...).
