Rare to find a place that takes allergies and intolerances as seriously as these guys and who adapt to look after you. Result is amazing meal. One of Melbourne's very best. Awesome experience every tine

We recently visited this cafe while visiting our son in Melbourne. The menu was so good it was hard to choose. I had the Chickpea & Zucchini Fritters. Yum! My son had the Halloumi Puy Lentil Freekah Salad and my husband went to Pancake Heaven when his Buttermilk Pancakes arrived. My Chai Latté on Oat Milk was the best Chai I have ever had…. made with a gourmet chai leaf mix. We'll be back when next visiting Melbourne.

Cool place, chill vibe, food is nice with above average portion sizes. Give the coffee a 8/10 can recommend. Staff seem friendly and fun.

Highly recommend for catering - We had catering from Las Chicas for 50 people at our wedding ceremony in February 2022. Many people commented positively on the food! We got an assortment of muffins, croissants, bagels, arancini balls and quiches. The food was delicious, looked great and was filling. The catering was delivered on time and on solid, plastic platters which looked great. It was easy to order as Las Chicas had a function menu on their website.

Café with a touch of Mexican Location: super easy to reach, its close to Balaclava train station. Atmosphere: love time music, the interior. It’s a beautiful café and I love the indoor as well as the outdoor seating (outdoor is heated in winter, yay!). Service: super friendly staff - bonus, they are quickly as well. You might still have to wait for a table without reservation but it’s totally worth it - and it’s not a one hour wait. Food: no matter what you eat, it’s delicious. I tried the breakfast burrito and it’s amazing but my all time favourite gotta be the buttermilk pancake. So many delicious details! Overall, I can 100% recommend it.

Terrible customer service, had to ask for our coffee and cake 3 times after a long wait and then told our dessert was no longer available as they had sold out. Poor attention to detail and coffee/chai was overpriced and flavourless. Definitely won’t ever come back.

Arrived on Sunday " Brunch" time was busy but staff were VERY helpful getting us nice cosy table Food was just delicious from my egg bacon roll to others having fritters, pancakes, and rubber sandwich Coffee was great as well . Will be going back 😊😊👍

I was very disappointed in the service and the food today. My son wanted eggs with a gluten free wrap and I ordered a breakfast burrito. Our meals came and my son was given gluten free toast - they only told us once the food came he couldn't have a gluten free wrap why not tell us that before? My burrito came with a gluten free wrap which I never ordered. Instead of apologising the manager was quite aggresive about it. Also the avo on my burrito was raw. Not great for a meal that cost over $60

Visited here a while ago and had myself a good morning almond latte and feed. Initially, we had to wait a while to be served but it was busy and booming so it seemed like a minor niggle in the overall experience.<br/><br/>Had the bircher as pictured. I was stunned by the presentation I almost didn’t want to eat it... but I did and it was a delicious time!

Las Chicas is a lively little cafe that's been around for a decade located next to Balaclava station. Their menu features breakfast and lunch dishes which use fresh, local and sustainable produce. The menu also offers Vegetarian, Vegan, Nut free, Dairy-free and Gluten free options. THE BREAKFAST SMASH

Great baked eggs but more beans than mushrooms 🤨<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered the ‘Moroccan Baked Eggs’ and they were great for one of my first baked eggs ever! The tomato flavour was delicious and it was great to warm you up on a cold day! In terms of flavour the baked eggs and roti was delicious, my only fault with them however would be that the portion and fillings were abit scarce. There was only about 3 mushrooms and for $20, I would have expected more but it ended up being 85% beans 10% egg 5% mushroom which for $20, threw me off 🥴 But all in all, in terms of flavour - I have no fault at all!<br/><br/>SERVICE: Pleasant!<br/><br/>Las Chicas is a great cafe that offers all kinds of different brunch items from savoury to sweet and it’s near the Balaclaca station so if you ever want some good cooked food near the station, Las Chicas is your place!

The coffee was insanely good. It was nice and creamy and smooth. The breakfast was also nice with lots of greens that were still nice and crunchy and the eggs cooked to perfection. The staff were very obliging also.

I only recently discovered Las Chicas as a brunch spot, I had previously only gone there in the morning to grab coffee before getting the train. If only I'd discovered it earlier! The food is delicious. <br/><br/>We ordered the Chickpea & Zucchini Fritters and the Breakfast Smash. I really enjoyed my fritters - they were one of the best I've ever had! They were perfectly crunchy and soft on the inside and were a big portion size. It was served with brocollini, avocado and a poached egg which were the perfect compliments to the fritters. <br/><br/>Will definitely be back to see what else they have to offer! The cabinet food looks great too, would be good for a quick lunch.

Went for breakfast this morning with my youngest daughter. We both had bikini Benedict. <br/>Great meal, friendly and fast service. Orange juice wax the best. Great atmosphere . Will be back

Ordered a lactose free chai latte. Although the taste was ok, it was very weak and not very spicy at all
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
My partner was so excited to try this cafe, unfortunately it’s over priced for what it is. The Wagyu burger just tasted like sausages, the tomato was supper thick!<br/><br/>I had the chicken salad it had a nice taste but lacking something.<br/><br/>The ice coffee was a highlight for me. <br/><br/>My partner loved the flue fighter juice. <br/><br/>It came to 58dollars. So we where expecting better quality :-(

Las Chicas is conveniently located on the Balaclava strip right next to the station. I’ve admired the baked goods in the front window for over a year now and was excited to give brunch a go! We sat in the large rear courtyard with two dogs in toe, and were kept nice and toasty by the heaters. <br/><br/>I ordered the Breakfast Smash (smoked salmon, whipped feta, smashed peas with eggs and chilli - $21) and the Flu Fighter (orange, ginger, spinach, pineapple, lemon & carrot - $9). The main was tasty, but a bit of a miss for me unfortunately. I would have loved some more acidity with the addition of onion or lemon and more of a chilli kick! The juice on the other hand was absolutely delicious ☺️<br/><br/>Overall, a great atmosphere and cozy space for brunch in winter, but maybe consider a different dish as my friends seemed to enjoy their meals more!

Great breakfast options
Love It Or Like It
Las Chias one of my fav in all of Melbourne . Have been lots of times . Staff are just lovely . Service great . Food and drinks spot on . Price you pay for what you get . Keep up the good work guys . Grateful for this gem . 🙏
MrMena
We had the Thai noodle salad and wagyu beef burger. Both were good but nothing special, the salad lacked that flavor. Fabulous atmosphere, we will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu. Burger was good, just needed more sauce.

I had a couple of coffee and almond hot choccolate for 3 days in a row. I thought was my mouth which was not compatible with their coffee. Nop. It's actually their coffee either the barista is not doing their job right.<br/>

Loved it, great food, good coffee, fast service friendly staff. Open fire out the back, nice atmosphere. Salads to take away for lunch- it’s a win!

Usually my go to place when I'm taking friends or family out for brekky or a coffee. Reasons being:<br/>1. It's around the corner<br/>2. It's really, really impressive<br/><br/>Down to the food, coffee, and the service. The service here is outstanding. Everyone is just super chill and friendly. <br/><br/>A review is pointless because the food is just always great, every food item, coffee is made with love, I'm just always happy here. The outdoor area is also great on a sunny day! Pop by! Literally any time. You won't be disappointed. <br/><br/>Picture below is the Brekky Burger and it's hands down the best Brekky Burger I've ever had in my life. No other Brekky Burger tops it X

Ambiance: From the outside, the cafe looks quite narrow and small but to my surprise, there was a little courtyard area in the back, it was super cute and well heated during the cold weather.
David Coe
Very good service, coffee great, nice salads, open fire, dogs allowed at section at the back... what is not to like. <br/>Also right beside the Balaclava train station. Very convenient.
Foodception
I love this cafe so much that i've been three times this month already. Im not sure what it is that draws me to Las Chicas; the open fire place out back, the delicious coffee, the fresh options on the menu or the David Attenborough that always seems to be playing the bathrooms. I had the chickpea fritters and was impressed. Teamed with the salsa, avocado and the side of pickled radish - it sent me to food heaven. The only downside to Las Chicas is the uncomfortable seats! Definitely need to get some cushions happening but other then that Las Chicas is definitely worth it.
Gee
Came here for lunch and started with teas and coffees which were ok but not amazing. I ordered the crispy prawn roll which was really good, although four little prawns seemed a little underwhelming for $18.50 We also had steak sandwiches which were quite disappointing and basically just bland. The chicken tortilla was sizeable as was the beef burger. One of the English waiters was nice and genuine, the taller of the two was less so. When we asked what the egg timers were for that came with the tea, he scoffed and said it’s some gimmick. The place wasn’t busy and it takes no effort to engage and be proud of what your cafe serves. Lastly, we ordered bacon on both the steak sandwiches (waiter specified whether we wanted it in the sandwiches or on the side - we specified in the sandwiches), and our understanding from the menu is that it would be $1 extra each. Having paid and left, I looked over the itemised receipt and they’d been unkind enough to charge $5 x 2 for bacon on the side. This is on top of charging customers for paying by anything other than cash. Guys - banking is part of the cost of doing business!! A bit cheeky, especially considering you’re charging $27 for below average steak sandwiches with a tiny amount of bacon (on the side). This brings my score down from 3 stars to 2 stars. I definitely wouldn’t come back.

Went for lunch with my husband <br/>We ordered a soup as a starter to share followed by a poached egg dish and an avocado sandwich <br/>All the food was brought at once<br/>I said to the waitress if we eat the soup 1st the eggs will be no good <br/>She answered so eat the eggs first <br/>I said ok but can you take the soup away <br/>When we’d eaten eggs didn’t want soup<br/>The bill included the soup and the manager was unpleasant unreasonable and offered the soup in a plastic takeaway container ! <br/>So unnecessary over $15! ....

Hands down one of my favourite places to get breakfast/lunch! Firstly I want to say the staff are amazing, usually in Melbourne if you go to a nice place you usually get greeted by a snobby employee and made to wait 1000 years for a table. At las chicas there is always space because of how the cafe is laid out. Even if it’s super busy it doesn’t feel like your crammed or it’s to noisy etc. I always get the sautéed greens without egg (I just don’t like eggs I’m sure it’s delicious with one) and it’s sooooo delicious, I do order this at many other breakfast places and this is the only one that has grabbed my taste buds! It’s also good if you get a piece of sourdough to add! I also have got the green smoothie which most people are scared to go for however it is surprisingly delicious and works so well after a big night or just a normal day! I love this place and always recommend it to friend! Definitely eat here you will not regret it!! Unfortunately I haven’t taken a photo here because I was to busy eating the food as soon as it arrived! Next time I go I will make sure I take a photo! :)

What a cracker. The food is great, and the super friendly staff top it off. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff, a winner. Visit or your missing out.
The Daily Feed
I am a fussy breakfast eater, but this meal definitely got my attention! I loved the Las Chicas eggs Benedict! Eggs were cooked to perfection, hollandaise was silky and buttery and the bagel was fresh. What more could you want? Price is on the higher side ($20), but I’d be willing to pay it if you’re in the market for a good quality Sunday breakfast!
Amanda Er
These guys never fail to disappoint in terms of food quality and I would highly recommend trying as many items as you can on the menu. I have not been disappointed ever going there (big shout out to the breakfast burrito!) The servings are incredibly large; be prepared for 2 pax. to share one dish, and still go away feeling full. (this is coming from someone who has a rather humongous appetite) Can get quite crowded at times, but it is always managed well by the friendly staff. Good work guys!
Mat’s Munchies
The Breakfast Smash is a nice twist on the Avo Smash using crushed peas and whole peas. The smoked salmon is always fresh and the whipped feta is nicer than the normal feta you usually get. I love the chili on this dish but if you don’t like spicy food be careful as they do have a bit of a kick. Usually the eggs are perfect but today they were a little over done, shout out to the waiter who noticed though and gave me a bit of a discount because of it! Las Chicas is always super consistent with their dishes, you always know what you are going to get, which is great and a testament to their long history in Balaclava.
Traveller123890
Went there for breakfast yesterday with 2 friends...<br/>My friend had the bircher and in his opinion was a bit bland and small size, my other friend had the smash avo and he loved it.. and i simply had a croissant which was good!<br/>Coffees were nice... service was good.<br/>Conaidering it was a cold day i was hoping to keep at least one of the doors closed as inside was a bit cold as well.<br/>Overall give it a go
Two Sheds
An institution located right beside Balaclava station. Nice warm space. You can watch people going off to catch their train if you desire. Utterly gorgeous coffee here. St Ali. Mine was expertly made. Silky smooth, superb length. A triumph and I doubt you could make it better. A great start to any day. Eager and helpful staff here. A very nice place worthy of many returns.
Olivia Yang
Wonderful ambience to this cafe in the outdoor seating area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was impressive but i chewed into eggshells in my breakfast burrito which was very off-putting. Would have given this place 5/5 otherwise!
The Sandwich Scout
Large cafe in Balaclava and is always busy, best to sit outside if available. I had the club sandwich, filled with grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, jack cheese, cos lettuce, tomato and aioli on toasted sourdough.
Amid
Came here with a group of friends. Great variety of food and coffee. Breakfast was nice specially the burrito . But it did take a fair bit of time after ordering the coffee which is why my review is shy of the full 5/5.
Matt Robinson
An institution, this place just stands for good food. Somewhere to grab an early healthy breakfast before a busy day, or longish not so healthy recovery brunch with friends. Coffee is from St Ali, yum.
The.Top.Lifestylee
"Fritters"<br/>Broccolini was the best part of this dish. The avo was distrusting didn't taste fresh at all. Rated artificial. The fritter were very dry making the whole dish dry and plain. Service wasn't good, especially considering we were giving them good business with 8 of us there. The vibe was good with an outdoor and indoor set up.

In comparison to the cafe around the corner that we left, this place was superb. Staff were smiling and friendly. Even moved tables to help make way for my pram. They brought water and menus out quickly and helped me to get a coffee ASAP. Perhaps they're a bit more switched on or have more sense for mummas and bubbas. They even put cutlery on the far end of the table away from bubbas reach. Spacious with high chairs available, this place has superb coffee... Rich creamy, mild delicious St Ali coffee.. and the most decadent mushroom breakfast, with truffle feta and a well cooked poached egg. We'll be back.

A friend was there today to experience the worst service ever and rudestt treatment by what’s believed to be the owner. In asking for a simple request was rudely told we won’t do that. Friend complained and to cut a long story short was told to leave with the parting words by the presumed owner “I hope you get hit by a tram”. Avoid at all costs
James Ronoson
Great food, great service, but this cafe is making a small fortune on scraping their customers' credit & debit cards. They are currently charging an excessive 1.8% surcharge on all cards. This is clearly not in alignment with current card surcharge guidelines. Needless to say I have reported the issue to the ACCC.
Cassie Betteson
Always love the feel of being at las chicas, the staff are also always helpful! I had the baked gags and they were a great way to warm up on a cold winters morning! The roti with it was the highlight!
Julia Stehli
Pancakes were a huge disappointment as they arrived cold and tasteless. When we told the waitress about it she said she could put it in the microwave???!!!
Tess H
I had brunch last Sunday (2nd time going to Las Chickas). We had to wait for a table but it was worth the wait. The pancakes were amazing and the staff were friendly.

If you know me, you would know that my goto meals have been big brekkies and this review is another one. <br/>Las Chicas is charming and chic. It's beautiful interior is only matched by its ability to produce beautiful foods. <br/>The coffee is St Ali. Unorthodox Blend.<br/>The meal was their Big Breaky. It was big and I loved it although I wish there was a relish that wasn't an paid extra. <br/><br/>Las Chicas is certainly worthy of its rating. Check them out.
Aaronmatthews000
A horrible experience and the worst customer service imaginable. Rude and aggressive man at the counter refused to honour the terms of their own vouchers. Avoid this place.
BonBonV
Good coffee and truly excellent tea. Huge menu, some of the dishes are very good indeed. The banana bread is big enough for two hungry sugar loving people if you're feeling naughty. The pumpkin polenta loaf with avo is one of my favourites as is the Mediterranean open sandwich with creamed feta. The burger is excellent and there are loads of other yummy choices. Expect to queue on the weekend.

So good I went there twice! Vik's vegan wrap is so delicious - almost like a big burrito of goodness minus the mexican spices. The marinated tofu is to die for and the vegan mayo was amazing! The peach ice tea was refreshing too. Since they have made such a good vegan wrap, I would love them to come out with other vegan breakfast options (maybe with some scrambled tofu?!)

A neighbour legend on the corner of Balaclava Station on Carlisle St- and for a good reason. Food is tasty and consistent. Service is attentive and friendly too even with the place being so elongated and spread out. My go-to is the Brekky Greens but I've since tried some other options and find the eggs on toast with sides is great value (this buttered mushrooms are so good too!). My partners go to is Eggs on GF toast with a side of corned beef that comes with a kick (horseradish). The almond chai here too is really good and comes in a lovely and sizeable milk pot so you can serve yourself but for 5.5$ can last two pours- so you get your money's worth.
La Plum
An old favourite haunt of mine. There's been a few layout and menu changes over the years, but the food and service are always of great quality. I ordered the kale and quinoa salad with chicken vien and feta, and the matched glass of wine (Pinot Grigio). The food was fresh, tasty and arrived swiftly along with my wine. Highly recommended.
Lole Lole Lole
This place is always so busy, and I really don't know why. The venue is nice, but the food is way overpriced. Almost $15 for a bacon and egg roll is just not right. You can easily find something more satisfying for that price elsewhere. The coffee was mediocre and so was the service. <br/><br/>Highlight: bare brick venue<br/>Let down: price<br/>Come back? Not in a rush to
Let’s Eat
Had the pumpkin loaf with the egg and it was amazing! I couldn't eat it quick enough. Service was friendly and prompt. The coffee wasn't amazing but it was certainly above average.
Kate Dougherty
Really enjoyed brunch at las chicas. Spacious venue with a lively vibe and extensive menu. I went with the Easter special which was hot cross bun French toast with cream cheese icing, rum soaked raisins, raspberry coulis and fresh raspberries. The dish was overall very tasty- I especially loved the addition of the cream cheese element. My only comment is that it wasn't really French toast- it was just normal hot cross buns.
@twogoodtoresist
While we really like the food at LC, we find the service and hospitality extremely arrogant. We hate cafes that know they're good and therefore treat their customers terribly because they think they can get away with it
Prin
Las Chickas is a once a week visit for me. Service is always absolutely amazing and especially when David is looking after us, he's always very prompt, very helpful and always in a great mood which is nice to see on a early morning in a busy venue! My boyfriend and I always order the same, we've got our favourites and they deliver the goods every time here, coffee and juices are also always great! Highly recommend
Jeremy K
Trendy cafe, friendly staff, really great food. I particularly liked the charred brekky greens! Will be coming back here with friends as you can sit and chat for hours over coffee.

I've eaten here a few times and would recommend it to anyone. This morning mum and I walked in, sat in their peaceful courtyard around 7.40am. Ordered coffees and breakfast. Coffee came in 5mins and brekky (eggs on toast) arrived in 10min. Service is definitely on point in re to waiting times and definitely their staff. 10/10! Despite the simplicity of our food - it was amazing! Their multigrain toast wasn't hard to eat (crust was just perfectly toasted). Butter came in a small jar and was soft. Oh, and their St Ali coffee. Yum!

Quick lunch required so popped in and was shown to a bench with street view. Menu and water arrived shortly after I sat. Lots of breakfast options. I chose a salad with hot smoked salmon for lunch with a soft drink. Service was good and the salad was nice but could have done with dressing as the quinoa was a bit dry after eating the salad for awhile. Very busy and the coffee was good too.

Got the peach waffle special and a kombucha. Had to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated on a weekend. Portion size and flavours were nice. Left feeling satisfied.
Eatwithhendri
Located at the heart of Carlisle st of St Kilda East, this place caught my attention when I dined at its neighbour Si Senor and it kinda reminded me of Perth where food was served as it is. Rustic, classic, nothing fancy, big serve and delivered in terms of flavour.
Sebastien Dalegend
The Sauteed Mushrooms was delicious, highly recommend. The vegetarian breakfast was quite filling. The place is chilled and everyone is laid back and friendly. Can't wait to go back to test the rest of the menu!<br/>I got the double double burger delivered today, generous serve of fries that were still perfectly hot and crunchy. Loved the burger too, the pineapple was a really nice touch!

Came here a few times, and still in love with this place. I've ordered chai latte and a plain croissant this time. The plain croissant was amazing with great texture. As for the chai latte, it was probably the first time I've seen chai latte served that way - a bit too much milk but that's how I like it. The cafe looks small on the outside but there is a nice cozy area at the back of the cafe. Overall, it is a great place to chill and definitely a frequent go-to place for me.

Las chicas - great set up, very sweet staff beautiful food- the only negative is that no split bills - on a Wednesday? I completely understand the reasoning for this on a weekend but thinks it's ridiculous that a table of 7 can't pay individually even with cash
Emily Bui
Had coffee and hot choc to takeaway and they were warm like they have been out for 10 minutes. The taste was not good either. Definitely not coming back.
Vanessa Griffin
This is one of our favourite places to come to for our Sunday brunches. We love the BBB and pancakes! It never disappoints. In addition to that, the coffee is pretty good too.
Charlotte Russo
One of my favourites - always something on the menu you'll love! Generous serves and interesting flavour combos. The set up is modern and there's usually not too long to wait even on a busy Saturday morning.
Jake
Great cafe in an awesome area. My friend and I were waiting for a third and as our friend came in the waiter offered to move us to a larger table near the couch so we weren't cramped in the corner. All of us enjoyed our food. The breakfast burrito was very filling and tasted great when smothered in the hot sauce. <br/><br/>Coffee was strong, which is always a plus.
Mary-Ann Tavolaro
Great coffee and food. My favorite dishes are Vik's Vegan Wrap and Chicas Benedict. I love coming here for breakfast on the weekend. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
FOOD TRIP
Las Chicas is a great choice for a delicious and beautiful brunch meal that is worth its price. They pride themselves on using fresh, local and sustainable produce for their dishes which make up an extensive menu to suit all tastebuds. Good quality food that guarantee you won’t leave hungry. Would recommend!

In love with the vegan wrap, had it 3 times now ☺️ I miss the old vibe of the outside seating but the new interior is beautiful and love dining here every time

Popped in here this morning with a friend for a spot of breakfast around 10. My god was it busy, line was about 12 ppl deep but much to my surprise we didn't wait any longer then 5 minutes. <br/>Serves was great, staff were so lovely despite how busy it was. We both had latte's, coffee wasn't to strong but creamy. I had the fritters without the peanut purée but avo instead, eggs were perfect my only criticism is that the fritters where quiet rough and hard on the outside and a little dry other than that it was beautiful. My friend had the mushroom that she said were unbelievable again she only had one fault that the mushrooms were very garlicey and towards the end it got vey over powering. <br/>But to be honest I love the vibe of this place and will defiantly be coming back X
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
I use to love it here and come all the time, but unfortunately standards in service and quality in food has slowly dropped to the point that I no longer come here or want to return here. They used to be fantastic and sadly went down hill to what they use to be..
Ann
Very nice food! Clever ideas, nice flavour combinations and a lot of choices. The atmosphere of the place is very relaxed and cozy. Definitely coming back! Yuuuuummm
Pokemon Latte
A great all rounder with a reasonably sized menu and good range of options to suit most tastes. Generous portions that are well presented, friendly attentive wait staff and very good coffee. An excellent location for a Pokemon trainer to refuel and restock their inventory with at least 2-3 poke stops accessible at the site. Situated on busy Carlisle street directly beside a tram stop and a train station, these poke stops are regularly applied with lures.
Foodie
Nice n cozy place to be. Though pls fill up the darn coffee when we pay for a large, we mean large not three quarter filled coffee in a large cup.... 😘
Too Much Cake
With so many people lining outside on Saturday morning I thought this was going to be mind blowing. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, t ticked all the boxes. Coffee was good and food was better than average. A bit pricey and crowded for my liking so I think I will visit when it's more quiet as I'm keen to return.
Ilana Bueno De Mesquita
Las Chicas is my go to place in Melbourne. I crave their breakfast menu. Those sauteed mushrooms with fetta cheese and a poached egg is my absolute favourite. There drinks are delicious and coffee is great and the staff are super friendly and accommodating.
Gwen
On Wednesday 6 July 16, around 10 am. Coffee wasn't impressive. It tasted strongly burnt. Didn't like it. Food was really good but a bit pricey. Ok atmosphere, a bit too packed for me. Might give it another try (not soon) as I live nearby.

Fabulous spot for brunch on Carlisle! <br/><br/>My new fave area in Melbourne has so many choices for funky brunches and lunches - I've been meaning to come here for ages but like sitting out the front and today there was a spare spot good for a pram! <br/><br/>I had two great St Ali coffees with almond milk - then the big breakfast with gluten free toast - firstly the toast wasn't crappy gluten free but one full of seeds and nuts so good quality. <br/><br/>Lots of bacon, chorizo, mushrooms, roasted baby tomatoes spinach and I had scrambled eggs - a massive serve that could feed two for sure! <br/><br/>Little one is a chocolate milk freak and he loved his treat too. Great service from both male staff - perfect outside in the sun too. <br/><br/>When going in to pay I saw all the luxe trimmings inside and it looked like a great place for a vino too with the girls!!
DuckieLovesToEat
This place has been in my growing bucket list of cafes to try in Melbourne. So you could just imagine how ecstatic I was when we get the chance to give it a go. We came here on a busy sunny weekend. We were asked to get seated on any available table we fancy. The place was busy but the staff were friendly and accommodating. Since it was already 11ish, I had the crispy prawn roll - crispy szechuan prawns, cucumber, carrot, chilli, coriander, avocado & kewpie mayo on a toasted brioche bun. While my friend had the double double burger - fried chicken breast, double bacon & cheese with a pineapple & chilli relish, chipotle mayo on a brioche bun with fries. Since my friend does not eat bacon we had it on the side so I can eat it all to my heart's content. We waited a bit and our order came out. Unfortunately, somehow they got my friend's order wrong and gave him a wagyu burger instead but alas, he doesn't eat beef so we called one of the staff to let them know. They apologised and got his right order. The manager, we assumed came over and apologised and asked us to order any drinks for free for the inconvenience. We both opted for skinny flat white. I already started eating my food. I find it good but the prawns were not tasty as I expected it to be. On the other hand, my friend was enjoying every bite of his chicken burger. The chips, the bacon, and coffee are all amazing. Since, I was very impressed with the service and everything else, I will definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone!
EatToLive
My long time favorite cafe in Melbourne. This place never gets old despite it has been in the game over a decade now. The latest renovation got me real good, really nice and cosy. The menu now is more extensive than before and they look so interesting. We have the "ham hock", the zucchini fritters and the kale salad. They are really good. Service is adequate as they are so pumped. I would say Las Chicas still rocks and lives up their reputation. Although Balaclava is packed with cafés everywhere nowadays , They are just like an institute to me.
Homerj
One of my favourites ! Always have good coffee and their Breakfast / brunches are yummy 😊They also have a variety of muffins and sweet treats which are delicious
Veginspo
Been to this place twice although it's so far away from my house. The reason why, because they're never a let down! Being a vegetarian I enjoy having a variety to choose from, and this place offers exactly that. Lots of variety and great portions, making it worth its buck! Absolutely adore the ricotta cream pancakes! They are a must try!
Cray
A late brunch on a Saturday, I had a skinny cap. Best one I have had in quite a while. The breakfast burrito $19 was filling and I loved the garlic sauce inside. My friend had the big breakfast $25, only downside would have been nice to have a side sauce for the price. Will be back again.

Last minute catch up with my westie friend and her daughter. Dissapointed there was no change table for my newborn son on the premises! My ham hock though was to die for! Wiped the plate clean. Service a bit poor and waiting times a bit long.

Always thought this was a brekky choice type place and took a risk on the risotto for lunch. Paid off big time. Lovely staff and fast service.

Had the Kale and Quinoa salad with poach chicken and bacon. The quinoa was cooked to how I like it. Firm to the bite, not mushy and the same time cooked through. The apples in the salad adds an additional texture to salad. The salad tastes pretty good with the chicken and bacon. The coffee did not disappoint me. The service staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs. Overall experience is great~!😆

Decent place for a breakfast treat! Standard overpriced breakfast items, good coffee. Very busy! Worth a try if you're looking for a breakfast cafe.

Located beside Balaclava Station, Las Chicas is a cosy village café, which prides itself on serving wholesome, quality food and coffee. They use only local, fresh and sustainable produce for their extensive menu, which as well as serving breakfast all day, provides a range of lunch options and caters for takeaways and functions.

Love everything about this place!! Creative menu, awesome vibe, good decor, great location and good cause too.<br/><br/>Coffee was impeccable. Fritters with poached eggs so good to eat, and it came with some greens too. No complaints! Will definitely return.<br/><br/>PS: they have a pretty cool van with amazing graphics, try spotting it at the back.

Had a miserable breakfast today poached eggs were hard and cold, saganaki was good. Coffee cold, no bill splitting. Owner not a friendly chap. There were 10 of us. Wouldn't recommend it as an enjoyable venue.

Went for breakfast this morning. Waited 1/2 hour for our coffees. So busy serving take away coffees that seated customers seem to have to wait! My poached eggs were hard boiled eggs. Very ordinary breakfast. Wait staff so rude- Clearing plates and cups while we were still eating and stretching all over table! Don't split bills.OWNER IS THE RUDEST MOST ARROGANT MAN I HAVE EVER MET! Will not be returning. Much nicer places on Carlisle street. Las Chicas has got too big for its boots!

Was meeting girlfriends in Balaclava & Las Chicas looked busy so I took that as a good sign that it was decent.. and the crowd didn't lie! Looooooong menu with heaps of options if you're into that... a mix of naughty and nice! Personally I loved the "build a breakfast" option (it had like a thousand different items to chose from... tick!)... I went with the whipped Yarra Valley feta (best everrrr), egg, fresh chilli and spinach. All of it was divine and you can really tell if produce is great quality and cooked well if it's served simply this way. Service was great, all the waitresses were super friendly and smiley, great price point, nice serving sizes & my latte was smooth too! My girlfriends had pretty amazing looking (and tasting) breakfasts too. The bikini blow out looked like it was worth blowing out for! haha. <br/>This skinny foodie will definitely be returning :) <br/>

Love this place! One of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. Food is delicious and decently priced - the pumpkin and sunflower loaf is delish as is the goji porridge. Love love love.

Great coffee and food. The breakfast burrito (poached eggs) is always a hit but a very extensive menu with lots of options. Usually a little wait for a table but they are quick at finding one. The coffee is great however sometimes takes quite a while to come out.

Nothing but good things to say about Las Chicas! despite the wait for a table (only about 15 minutes on a Saturday at 11am) the food was amazing. The service is super quick as well which is a bonus. For someone who is really hungry I would recommend the breakfast burrito. It was so delicious and filling!! Would recommend this place to anyone

Carlisle Street in St. Kilda East is home to a striking list of eateries, providores and bakeries- the quality and fame of which rivals those in Greville St. and Brunswick St. corridors. Pedestrians zip up and down the boulevard and many, like myself, no doubt wishing for a second stomach to challenge a food crawl of the most enticing cafes out there. <br/><br/>Las Chicas is one such place.<br/><br/>Its allure begins when you step off the train at Balaclava Station, where...

Was not happy with the cappuccino and there is no way I will be returning. Hard to find a nice place in St Kilda or Balaclava environ these days; all the quality places are in the north with the exception of a few in Prahran.<br/>I had to go to Ernest on Glenhuntly Rd to get a decent coffee. Never again!

haven't been here in 2 years and had to check it out after the recent renovations ... service was really good despite it being a very busy Saturday mid day ... ham hock tastes as good as it looks ... asked for crumbed egg to be well done as I don't like runny yolks ... was really impressed that the chef came up to me during mid meal and asked if I liked the doneness of the egg ... coffee was really good ... deserves a 5 star rating

I decided to check out Las Chicas after the new facelift. We had the ham hock and Bikini Blowout Benedict. They looked gorgeous and came out quickly, but were severely under-seasoned, and very bland. <br/>The service was over-attentive, clearing our plates as we were still eating. Disappointing overall.

best poached eggs in town. called it! love the effort they make plating something as simple as eggs: butter piped in a jar, micro herbs on top. it arrives hot, fragrant and appetizing. the eggs are so good I rarely remember to order anything else but they're consistently delicious at everything. it's no wonder they're always buzzing with diners!

Very popular cafe in Balaclava. The design and atmosphere of the whole place is great. Coffee was very good. Unfortunately we found that the food (wagyu burger and burrito) was lacking in flavour, although it was well presented. In addition to that, both meals were not warm enough. Might try something else next time!
Suburb Review
Extremely trendy cafe in Balaclava. I've been here a couple of times & walk past it almost everyday (as i work here) and its always packed with people inside and sometimes lining up outside. Food always comes out beautifully presented, flavours are light and complimentary of each other! Coffee for me is standard, nothing extraordinary. Seems like the top go to cafe around carlisle.. Putting balaclava on the map!

I was pleasantly surprised to see lovely fresh salads displayed in 10 or 12 huge bowls.<br/>HOWEVER, when I went to order, I was told that these salads were for takeaway only, and I could only order the Sorba Noodle Salad, which was on the menu.<br/>How ridiculous to display all those salads and not allow one to purchase them at table service!<br/>$30 for a salad, a smoothie and a coffee was a bit steep.<br/>Next time I'll go to one of Carlisle St's other, more accommodating cafes!
