Review Leo's Spaghetti Bar - St Kilda

Bianca Wacker
I can see why Leo’s has been running for over 60 years! We came here to eat authentic Italian food and they did not disappoint. Generous servings, great service and a great family atmosphere. The pasta and seafood is very fresh and you can tell every dish is made with love.

Restaurant has good vibes, staff is really friendly and the food is good with great focus on overall food quality. Cons: low number dishes for vegetarians. It would-be awesome, if they can expand their menu with more vegetarian pizzas, otherwise good food. Place has indoor and outdoor seating.

It was a Monday night the 1st February 2022. I was in Melbourne for a few days coming from Sydney. The place was about the close. I was really hungry. The gentleman looked tired after a busy hot day...BUT was absolutely incredible & made me a spaghetti bolognese! The food was incredible! Delicious & a huge portion! I will definitely be back again. Thank You so much for your incredible hospitality.
Nicholas Wong
Good location near the beach. Fast service and serve Italian dishes and pizzas. Good value and portion

Simple tasty food which is made with Good quality ingredients & cooked with care! Reasonably priced. The Spaghetti Carbonara was Delicious, made with an Authentic recipe. The staff are Very Accommodating & Friendly.. I Get why it's been in st.K for Many years. I'll Definitely return.🐞

We adore this restaurant. I only discovered this restaurant maybe a month back but ever since we probably eat here a good 2 times a week. Staff are friendly and treat their customers like they’re family, such a warm and inviting space. We learnt they’ve been open for 71 years at the same location which just goes to show, good food & friendly service goes a long way 💛

For the price, eh it's ok. The portion is not that big, I'm still not full. I had Leo's special marinara pasta, and it was bland, marinara sauce was like tomato water, didn't coat the pasta at all. Had to put lots of parmesan for better taste. Missing lot of flavors and poor consistency of sauce. Seafood smelled a little funny. Other pasta might taste good, but the one I had was not so recommend. But beer is cheap. Good for drinks with small dishes I guess. Server lady was nice.

Just had a delightful experience having tried a variety of meals. Fresh, great textures and taste combinations, accompanied with excellent & friendly service. Will visit again and can highly recommend if you love great Italian. Thank you.

I had dinner at this place twice when i was in Melbourne. I had the best seafood risotto and the best pizza in Australia. Its kids friendly as well. The staff are very nice as well
Mitch Hornery
Dispicable place. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Last meal of 2012... horrible. New years eve and still taking sittings at 9.30 which was good, waitress’ friendly and thorough but this is where the positives ended. Meals were Fishermans Platter, that came on a tray with useless giant lettuce leaves underneath, extremely overcooked and overbattered seafood and even the chips were dry. Not worth the $30. My partner ordered the Fettucini Castallana for about $19 and ate the most overcooked scallops of his entire life....and an overload on cream does not make any pasta taste good. Horrible service from an older gentleman who advised he managed the place, witnessed him also giving horrible customer service to the patron in front of us and when we went to the counter to pay his only word was “next”. Next? I look at him a bit shocked but prepared to stay quiet but he said in a smarty pants way that I seemed upset and urged me twice to tell him what was wrong. On explaining that a correct greeting is not next and that a smile and a “next please” or how can I help you was normal” he advised he didn't need to be lectured by myself. I advised he had asked ME what was wrong and that he did need to be lectured as he was providing horrible customer service and all I had wanted to do was pay for the meal we had finished. He blamed his behaviour on the customer he had had before us and in the end I removed my card before payment went through, discussed the matter with a helpful waitress who advised she would pass my feedback onto the owner, and then she arranged my payment for me. The waitress said at the end that she hoped we would return and unfortunatly, even her quality customer service in an awkward situation, couldn’t dispel the feeling that I had wasted my money on bad food and helped pay wages for a man who doesn't deserve the job he has. Plently of other restaurants on the strip and in all honesty, go a few doors up to La Porchetta.

Have bad experience, there are 2 curly hair in pasta dish.never come again.

Love it, service and food to die for. First time I tried these guys was 3 years ago it was great then. I 've been harping on about Leo's ever since, so glad I went back again when visiting Melbourne. Will definitely be back.
Jordan Wright
The amount of disrespect towards customers. Don't even think about going here, not worth the trouble
Shianna Wise
Disgusted in the way they treat others. Would not recommend
Ashlee Edwards
There was a bug in our ice, food was cold, lasagne tasted like it was out of a packet. Prawns tasted frozen. Overall I was very disappointed.
Dawn Cordy
The food was delicious and service first rate definitely go back there when in Melbourne/ St Kilda ...
Guke Lordon
Disgusting place 0/10 dont go there, avoid at all costs
Mark Cartledge
Was here Tuesday with work found it was a great place so I brought the family back today. Great meal, great service, great venue, see you next time
Rob Hetem
Delicious Chicken Parmaggiana! Lovely nutty coffee too. Wish I had space for some of the cakes!!! Well worth a visit.
Jayde Marie Allamby
If I could give it half a star I would! The worst service-- if your looking for something with nice presentation of food is shocking! Lasagna looked like it was slopped on from a canteen lady from jail and cold .. prawns tasted like they were off or from a frozen packet not fresh at all! Steak was tough as anything! When told that the lasagna was cold instead of replacing they asked if we would like to have it re heated ... drinks - bug in the ice asked for a new drink still charged us for the drink with the bug in it ... Would never go back there again even if someone paid for me! SHOCKING!
Brayden Freudling
Lack of respect and compassion, not being able to accommodate for even the simplest request for someone who has terminal cancer shows how disgusting and unsympathetic you really are. Wouldn't order food here even if it was for my dog.
Tamara Fulton
Appalling service! Do not have 50 characters to say really...
Meg Phillips
Service was so so so so so so so so so bad
Emily Rooke
I became very sick after eating from here ruined my trip ;(
Jasmine Jean Kelly
There was a booger in my food.. And that had more flavour than the meal itself. 0 stars.
Scott Lockwood
Great service ! Great food ! Great prices ! I will be back
Belinda Clark
Awesome Food, Excellent Service, 7 nights in Melbourne, ate there 3 times, that says it all!! Definitely will be back when next in town!!
David Staughton
A food institution for pizza pasta and gelatin - yum
Abbey Alanne
Was very happy. Service and food. Great !!!! Happy to come back if we are here visiting again
Zac Galloway
Man I don't even wanna give you guys a star cause you don't deserve it, but you should learn to treat customers with respect
Lee Kelly
Eat regularly here , good food and friendly staff...what more would you want?
Jessica Winstone
Yes thanks so much for being SO welcoming to us and our Greyhounds. Your waitresses rock for being so patient and picking their way over our sprawled dogs.
Jake Williams
Go shelve your spaghetti Leo, you can absolutely get fucked...
Peter Smith
As one of Melbourne's oldest venues, the spaghetti and gnocchi speaks for itself. A large venue with both inside and outside seating as well as a function area at the back. If you are looking for the best, this is it, they also offer bottomless gnocchi Thursdays and Sundays!
Evelyn Dempsey
Leo's has been a favourite of mine for a while, and now they're offering 2 medium pizzas for $20! Date night was definitely made much better by their pizzas, thanks guys!
Cmzajicek
Bottomless Gnocchi!!!!! For only $30pp (all on the table must be involved) you can choose from 3 sauces and they’ll keep bringing out gnocchi until you say stop! Make sure you say stop at a point when you can still eat dessert, because those options are amazing too!

The venue is actually quite large, much larger than it looks from the outside, and the staff were truly lovely. Very friendly and really chatty, it was a nice afternoon!

Pictured is the:
1. Gnocchi Napoli
2. Gnocchi Pesto
3. Gnocchi Bolognese (my fav 😍)
4. Gelati (Pistachio, Chocolate & Vanilla)
5. Skim Latte

It had been a while since visiting, but glad I did! I saw them on social media and it reminded me of all the great times I had their as a kid. To my surprise, everything was exactly how I remembered it. Great food and service- an institution to Melbourne. Next time I won’t wait so long between visits 👍👍
Lazar Savic
Insane pizza and pasta served up every time I've been there. And just when I thought there couldn't be another reason to go... they bring out bottomless gnocci... are you kidding me!?!
Esptm🍫☕️
Excellent pizza with good chewy crust & quality toppings. The lamb one had great flavour but the lamb itself was dry. Chicken scalloping was a good size & the sauce was excellent. However the edges of the chicken were dry, and the chips were soggy because they were under the chicken in the sauce.
Margaret G
Great range of pizzas and pasta here at Leo’s, which makes choosing something difficult! The staff were friendly and portion sizes were great value! Hope to be back soon
Duke Johnson
I large restaurant perfect for both small and large groups. Pizza is good value, full of flavour. I visited during happy hour (3pm-6pm) and enjoyed the $5 beer special. Would go again!

Came here after a show at Palais Theatre. Saw it and thought “yeah, some basic Italian food would be nice”. I’ll say this; wine was nice and the cheese-garlic bread was good too. However; the wait time for what we got was not impressive. The highlight was my parma, which was actually two parmas put together with topping to make one big parma. My friend’s meal, which was the ‘special’ salmon, was overcooked and with a salad of just rocket. Essentially, disappointing all around. Leo’s says they’ve been around since 1956, it certainly tastes like it.
Melbourne.Food
A staple in St. Kilda with deep historical roots from the 50's!

Leo's still standing tall after all these years to serve great food to both the local community members and the newcomers.

Serving from breakfast to lunch and dinner with all their favourite classics and of course, their beloved pizza and pasta!
Adam Sarfati
When you're craving classic Italian food and don't want to drive to Carlton this is your go to. Perfect for the entire family!
@foodtom
Visited Leo's on the weekend and they were simply fantastic. Being a big carb lover, I had to go for the carbonara. It was fresh, delicious and super creamy. Top place.
Hung Huynh
Great place for some simple Italian food. Loved the old school feel of the place. The pasta and pizzas were cooked every well. Service was efficient and friendly. Great Job.
Lole Lole Lole
Had the lamb ragu, smelled good but there was so much cheese woven through the sauce. So much that the fork became a stick of cheese. Quite a nice dish but would have preferred less cheese. The homemade ravioli was good.
The place is quite relaxed, simple and you dont really need anything else other than that. Service was nice and quick from the friendly staff.
Kerala1
Always reliable and friendly. Good basic Italian and excellent value
FriesFiend
It's hard to find a good classic Italian joint that you can take the family to and not break the bank. Leos, which has been around since 1956 is one of the last of its kind. Heart, saucy Italian food and perfect for the whole family!
Josiah Armando Miranda
I’ve never ever felt the need to write a review before but this is an exception. Was greeted whilst passing by with a generous smile who asked if I’d like a seat. Since the service seemed good, I assumed the food would also be. But boy was I wrong.

I looked at the price board and saw avocado, toast, with meredith feta, tomato and walnuts for $14. Price was more than reasonable so I jumped at it, but it didn’t take me long to realise I’d be better off jumping from the Westgate.

The food was so BAD. I got two slices of toast so small that they would probably equate to one normal slice of bread. I was expecting fresh avocado however what I received was a very thin layer of a watery green paste which looked like it had been squeezed from a guacamole tube that you buy from Woolworths. It was then showered ( and I mean the plate was fricken full) with rocket leaves to the point where I couldn’t even see the little slices of toast underneath. I soon realised they were trying to hide the green paste.

On top of the mountain of rocket leaves was three sad slices of cherry tomato and 3 littles cubes of feta. Please don’t ask me how it tasted.....

I sat with three friends who all thought it was HILARIOUS that I chose to eat rocket leaves on baby toast instead of the fish and chips down the road, MY MISTAKE!!

I can’t believe a restaurant could actually serve that to someone, shows why the restaurant was empty. Have some pride in your food, and you will get repeat business. It’s a no brainer

Overall hands down the worst meal I’ve ever paid for, the first time I’ve ever wrote a review but I felt the need to do so, so that no one ever makes the same mistake I did and eat at this restaurant. Still kicking myself that I paid on my way out

I love that it feels a little like taking a step back in time when you first walk into Leo's. It's been around since 1956 so I think that in itself should tell you just how good it is! I've been here many times and the service and food are always 10 out of 10. My favourite dishes are the lasagne, bolognese and the Pollo Avodcao, the butter and white wine sauce is just delicious!! Great place to come with friends or family!
Bryan Lukav
If any venue has been around for a long as Leo’s, that is enough reason to know they are good. One of the best pasta places in Melbourne and one of my favourite spots to visit in St Kilda, here is to another 50 years! Would recommend!
Maria Condello
I was a little underwhelmed when my Saltinbocca Chicken arrived at the table but I seriously underestimated this dish, which tasted amazing! A real 10/10 dish, the sauce was divine, I could've licked the plate clean!

Service was impeccable, the menu was diverse and all around, the family enjoyed their meals (pizza, ravioli and spaghetti all got ticks of approval). We will definitely be dining here again.
Nicole Wamba
Saw my friend came here and loved it so I had to check it out too. Loved their bolognaise, so meaty and saucy, exactly how I like it. My partner ordered a pizza and he also said it was really good. Highly recommend visiting Leo's if you love spaghetti!
Lauren Pinch
Great spaghetti, great pizza and great atmosphere. Been in St Kilda since 1956 which is a huge accomplishment. They are doing some great things with their menu and current specials. Can't go wrong with a free glass of wine with any pasta order during the week!
Bernard Haylen
Great food, perfect portions. Delicious wine! When a small problem was found with a meal, it was handled quickly and professionally and the manager went above and beyond. Would happily go there again.

Have already been here thrice after our last visit and sad to write that the food served all three times were pretty inconsistent and sad.

It breaks our heart to say this as we really loved the food here. Probably, it's the management or more to do with the menu.

Previous Rating: 4/5

We are appalled by such low rating for this beautiful authentic Italian restaurant. Probably because they still serve the old traditional flavors and style. We simply LOVE it.

Their Tiramisu is to die for :D Their Pizzas remind us of our time in Italy. Their Sauteed Prawns were perfectly cooked in a delectable Napoleon Sauce. Chicken parmigiana was beautiful too.

The only thing we really disliked (and stopped us from rating them a 5) were the sandwiches they serve until noon. The first time we had them they were lip-smacking but the other two times we ordered them on two different visits, they lacked flavors and the buns were charred. Wish they were consistent as they are with their other dishes.

Great Value for Money. Attendants are friendly and warm.

Even the manager / owner is a nice person.
Cludy Foodie
Lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of St. Kilda.
Some of the best pizzas within Melbourne, very close to the original. The tomato sauce was rich in flavor, thing dough with a crunchy crust and mozzarella cheese. Great Value for your money.

The atmosphere was quite cozy and the staff attentive and friendly. Looking forward to trying some more pizzas and pasta dishes!

The Famous Leo's opened its doors in 1956. Leo's Spaghetti Bar offers the best in El Fresco dining in its wonderful outdoor dining area on St Kilda's Fitzroy Street, A very large a la Carte dining menu, takeaway pizza, and pasta. To be around this long, they must be doing something right! Pasta was delicious!!
The Professor
The place had a good vibe and the wait staff were helpful and pleasant but if you must re heat the risotto so many times to the point that it is almost inedible then don't do that to customers. Please don't take people for fools. We can tell when it has been re heated over and over and over again.
Flying Forward
Serving up old school Italian and pub favourites, in an equally old school setting.
Lamb ragu with pappardelle – the pasta was slightly overcooked so had a mushy texture. The ragu didn’t taste strongly of lamb, and it was more of a dry sauce.
Porterhouse steak – bit of a cheap cut used and cooked slightly more than I wanted my medium rare.
It was a bit of a rough choice, but there wasn’t much else open at 10PM on a weeknight.
I’d probably avoid.
Walter Sanders
Went to Leo’s last night never again inattentive staff that stuffed up simple food and drink orders and the food was bland and undercooked I had a seafood pasta with undercooked mussels and prawns blah wasn’t worth the $29 it cost
Nicole Austin
My family and I had dinner here on Saturday night. We all thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and were all impressed with the food. So delicious! Leo’s will definitely be a restaurant that we visit over and over again.
Marcus Messi Chan
Came here around 6 in the evening. Still pretty quiet. Ordered a Bolognese, Veal Scallopini and a Carbonara. The pasta here is amazing and the Both the Bolognese and carbonara is not too strong of a taste. It isn’t just the pasta that are great tasting. Tiramisu and coffee are great tasting too. Above all the price is amazing. Definitely would come back here again.
Kate
Went here with 10 others before NYE for a feast of Italian food. I have also been here once before that. I can definitely confirm the servings are huge! While the table service started off well, it started to wane after the first hour. While very well priced, we were told we could split the bill and then we couldn’t so that was a let down. Packed to the brim with a decent decor.
FoodHedonist
Very average. Service was a hit and miss. We failed to grab their attention and hence had to walk up to get some water. Ordered chicken parma and linguine chicken and pumpkin pasta. Parma was dry and lacked flavours, decent serving though. Pasta was nice and the saving grace for the night. Ambience is boring. Not sure if I want to go back there.
Angelique Panayiotakopoulos
Linguine Proscuitto and Linguine Salmon was a disappointment. Zero flavour. I look forward to flavours I don't achieve at home. This was a fail for us.
John
Old school establishment. Was here years ago. Had lunch today with two others. Eye fillet, porterhouse and pizza. Steak was good and chips were tasty. Eye fillet was to much to be finished. All enjoyed. Good value for money. Service was fast and efficient. Deco bought back memories. A Melbourne old school icon.
Shannon
Absolutely delish food, generous portions and reasonable prices. Would 100% come back here again. Restaurant atmosphere was average, would have been perfect with some music to accompany the evening.
Amy Jessica Walker
Amazing food and brilliant value.

My partner had the Mexican Pizza and I had the slow roasted lamb with pasta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were brilliant.

Two mains and two beers cost us just over $45 which is brilliant.
Harry Williamson
Ive been coming to Leos since I first arrived in OZ, 35 years ago. Its about the most consistent and quietly brilliant family restaurant I have ever visited, anywhere in the world. The staff are always friendly and generous, and John the manager treats customers like family. We are always happy to come and eat affordable meals with a happy atmosphere, good priced drinks and unexpected treats, especially on birthdays! John Howleys impressionist paintings, gifted to Leo years ago in return for many years worth of free meals , create a wonderful visual atmosphere. The sounds are also muted, thanks to a great acoustic ceiling. Tops. You have to visit!
FoodFanatic
I was mortified to have gone here with my family. We started noticing an awful smell coming from a man at the table next to us. A homeless man who was nearly asleep at his table and had urinated on the seat. When we realised exactly what the smell I alerted a staff member. After 10 minutes they tried to guide him to another seat. Once he stood and we could see a pool of urine on the floor and all over the couch that we were sharing with him, we could not eat anything and all left the restaurant- leaving behind 8 untouched plates of food and 2 half drank bottles of wine. Staff did not apologise and insisted we pay the full amount of the bill. I'm not one to usually complain but this was outrageous! I gave $100 and left.
Mitch Lindgren
Breakfast was nothing to rave about. Avocado was hard, poached egg was also hard, Hollandaise sauce was probably out of a can/bottle. Coffee was ok.
Perth Eater
Nostalgic visit. My family used to eat regularly at Leo's in the 1960's so on this visit our group had to revisit this iconic Italian restaurant. It didn't disappoint. The pasta and gelato was as good as we remember.
Good Food Good Mood
What a yummy little spot. Hard to believe it's been around for 30 years and I've never been before given the amount of time I spend in the area. Strawberry and goats cheese bruschetta was absolutely beautiful and the staff were super accommodating to my request to swap mushrooms out of my pasta for avocado. Aranacini were good and pizza also enjoyable. It's just good unpretentious Italian food with a homely atmosphere like you're at Nonna's house
Katherine Chiu
Leo's Spaghetti bar has been around for 30 years now and is run by a lovely Italian guy who organised the meal for me. I was invited to try their menu and their takeaway service. The service itself is prompt and they do take allergies into account. One lady next to us advised that she was allergic to calamari and they were happy to take this out.
Andrea
Good food and good service. The risotto marinara was yummy and the volcano pizza was delicious. The meals were of a good size. Tiramisu delicious.
Ash
Worst pasta we ever ever had.
Greek salad had 3 pieces of huge tomatoes and seemed to have no dressing. For a price of $18 you would presume you would get something edible.
Homeless people begging for money & smokes doesn't help.
Suzie Bodey
Came here on a Monday night as an impromptu 10pm birthday meal for a friend, the waiter was the most sarcastic moody man I have ever met.
He was sour, couldn't possibly even come close to cracking a smile, stood near by and glared at us the whole time, reluctantly took our order, when we clarified the difference between two pizzas (one with chilli one without) he said "yeah, isn't that's what you ordered" but didn't clarify if we had it given to the right people - couldn't taste the chilli either.
Just full of attitude.
We even asked before we came in if they were still happy to serve us even though it was late.
If you're not having a good day, I get it, but you work in customer service, put a smile on your face until your shift is over. It's not our fault you're a sour puss... Won't be coming here again.
Paula
Attended Sunday for lunch x 3 of us, food was wonderful, i had the Spag Marinara, it was one of the best Marinara's i hve had, and believe me i've had alot. All dishes were thoroughly enjoyable, plus enjoyed a bottle of wine, coffee's, ice cream & soft drink. Total price was $100? AMAZING !!!!! Plus we received a complimentary port with our coffee's, great spot, perfect service, will definitely be returning & will be passing on to friends and family :) THK YOU KINDLY :) Paula
Chantel Charchalis
Tasty buy 1 get 1 free basic large pizzas. Little bit over cooked and not "Italian" style.. More veges and less crispy. The cheese garlic bread was super delicious.
Cab Sauv also very nice.
Veronica_Veezus
It was Average, we had the Ceasar salad & Leo's special pizza.
POSITIVE : friendly staff , buzzing atmosphere for a cold thursday night, pizza was good if you enjoy the Australian style pizza with the shredded ham type . don't expect the Italiano pizza pie. Jez loved it.
NEGATIVE : the salad was small and boring, no major negatives just no WOW factor, wished we had tried the pasta to sample but after those entrées we didn't feel like exploring the menu.
ToorakM
Pizza was GREAT! We had a Chicken Pizza from here delivered and it's up there with one of the best we've had delivered. Ever.

Chicken breast strips, pineapple, mushrooms and BBQ sauce heaven!

Chocolate hazelnut crepe great too - but the poor strawberry one had 400ml of strawberry sauce in it so was waaaaaaaay way and I can't emphasise WAY too much sauce. Must have slipped when they poured it!

But arrived hot and fresh - pizza was 5/5.
Cameron McEwan
Very friendly and attentive staff and a pleasant dining experience. The garlic bread was a little on the dry side. Ravioli was very nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a pasta fix.
Gary Charman
A table of 18 who all want to select their own rather than share can be a formula for some complaint but not at Leo's; all meals were served at once; they even managed to serve a late order at the same time. Impressed!
Meals were reasonably priced, pasta al dente, not one complaint about the meal from the 18.
My mother's 80th birthday and the Leo's staff were fabulous; the surprise being a tray of ports served at the end of the meal.
I've not been here for over 10 years and despite the change of ownership, it has maintained its standards, the decor has been refreshed.
Tamara Thomas
Pizza and pasta dishes were nice though terrible service. No welcome, no smiles and had to wave the staff down to ask for service. Will not return as it is the service that makes the whole dining experience.
Dean Sinclair
Always a reliable establishment for product wholesome food. Menu is reasonable with a selection of the usual Italian dishes. Prices are also reasonable. The standard continues to make Leo's a workable proposition and highlights why it's one of the last of the original establishments still going.
Jonathan Miranda
Was pretty bad service and the food was average. No water was given with the meal and when my girlfriend wanted to take away half of her left over pizza we were just handed a box and told to put it in the box ourselves.
Rita
Love this place!
Generous portions for such a good price and super friendly service.I always get their garlic cheese bread, beautiful consistency especially with the cheese and butter. Must try their lasagne, super juicy and flavoursome.
CBF Glutton
Average pizzas.
Portions are big and the price isn't that expensive.
Service can be slow at times but overall pretty good.
Nothing special regarding the decor and the ambience.

Decent place for a late night pizza craving.
Anne.pook
Plastic wrapper in the salad. Began eating salad and on second spoonful was dismayed to find the outside wrapper of the rocket leaves! Really unimpressed and certainly was not that interested in staying in restaurant after that. Waiter apologized but no word from management or chef. Not good enough. Visiting from interstate.
Theonlywayisthis
Leo's. Great service and great food. I had a Chicken Pizza there and it was delicious, perfect base and crust. Also the service was very nice and friendly. Loved it and will be coming back with friends!
Barney Linton
Had the Leo's marinara and it was awesome. Highly recommend it. Best Italian in st kilda.
Smidster
Leos' St Kilda. Went for a meal here on a Monday night, the service was exceptional and the food matched it. I had the lasagne and it rivalled any I would make myself. The staff were very attentive and were always on hand if needed.
A very good night had by all and I would definitely eat here again.

Amaaazinggg. Parma Daze
I first saw my parma, and size-wise it was decent (at first glance, anyway) but I was shocked when I saw reviewer Nikki’s parma - everything was smaller, smaller salad, tiny amount of chips and the size of the parma itself was laughable, it looked as if you could put it in a bun and call it a chicken burger - It’s pretty obvious what happened, those darn neighbour kids were playing with their baseball in the backyard, the ball smashed through Leo’s kitchen window and bam
Alannah.cusin
Manager is awful. When the waitress made an innocent mistake, the manager refused to listen to our side of the story. Given that most of the staff has English as their second language it's impressive that they can provide a great standard of service. Instead the manager takes money off what the wait staff earn and this is disgusting.
Anguswevans
Poor management regarding simple complaint.. The manager here here refused to listen to our complaint regarding a simple mistake on the bill. I would advise against dining here at all costs. Very poor.
Nastassia Shulman
Not right. The food was fine, but manager was very rude when we queried the bill which didnt include the specials price. He forced the waitress to pay the difference herself.
Tomdlavoix
Absolutely dreadful. The manager didnt give an opportunity to listen to our complaints. Never coming here again. So rude
Sussren
Motorcycle friendly. Always a delight and well priced meals with friendly staff.
Angie
Went to leos last night for dinner servings are huge but quality of food was disappointing
Yummm
Breakfast today. The waiter couldn't get the initial orders right. Food is horrible to say the least...some of the group were served coffees and Meals whilst some didn't get their coffees...I absolutely wouldn't go there ever
Amy.teitzel
Very ... meh. I had mussels for entree, my friends had bruscetta... mine was good, there's was very mediocre.
I ordered saltimbocca ala romana, friends ordered creamy pastas... mine was appalling, covered with a gloopy out-of-the-packet sauce, no fresh sage and thick slices of bacon instead of procuitto... and served with chips and salad! What the...? About as authentic an italian dish as hawaiian pizza. As I said, appalling. The pasta dishes were much better.

Don't expect good Italian food here, but it'll do if you can't be bothered taking a tram into the CBD. The service was good though.

What. Negatives:
The pumpkin and feta risotto was not at all on point and the dishes came out staggered which was really frustrating.
Furthermore, the table was set with a DIRTY napkin and then the waitress refused to remove it! (What).

Positives:
The meatlovers pizza was quite yummy.
There was also a wide selection of drinks and an impressive selection of beers.

The music was also v. groovy

Beau and Freya xx

Great experience!. Best place to have Chicken Parma, generous size even for the special! It comes with nice crispy chips and salad . Service was friendly and food came on time as promised and prices very reasonable . I definately recommend Leo's spaghetti bar , next time will come with friends!

-----17 Sep, 2014-----

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! GREAT FOOD!!. Worst lasagna I've ever eaten!!!. The service was fast & pleasant but the food was very bad. I can't believe that a restaurant that specialises in pasta dishes has such bad pasta. Won't ever eat there again.

Great Service, Really Bad food!. Leo's spaghetti Bar is an institution in Melbourne. The atmosphere is busy, the service is great and the vibe is happy.

The food is bad, like big American style bad, lots of oil, lots of cheese, lots of salt bad bad bad...

MMM

Surprisingly good for buy one get one pizza. We decided to eat out last night and my partner suggested here since it's order 1 large pizza get one free. We sat outside since we have a dog with us and they have outdoor heater. Which is great!

We got greeted right away with friendly manager or owner, Served water and menu. We ordered salad and pizzas. The price is really reasonable. Around $19 per pizza and $14 for a really good size ceasar salad (which by the way, a real tradition one with taste of anchovies).

Food came out reasonably quick. Pizza was lovely and big 13". We paid $33 for all that and got lots pizza left for tomorrow.

The only thing that I think worth mention and even it doesn't have anything much to do with the restaurant. Sitting outside could be slightly scary because of the area.. Because I was with my partner so I wasnt that worried but still have me slight chill in my spine when some people walk by..

Do not visit this establishment! They put up signs for happy hour etc to get you in the door and then take them down during that time and then claim you must pay full price because they took the sign down.

Consistent. Went back for the third time on Saturday late arvo early evening and was not disappointed. Service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious as usual. Really like the relaxed atmosphere there.

Non existent service. Sat waiting for my order for 25 minutes before asking where it was, waitress completely unprofessional and confused who went to check. order hadn't been put through to kitchen and would take another half an hour. I left and the manager did not apologise or even seem to care as I left my feedback in disgust.

I have been here a few times now and always have been happy to come back. Staff and owners are lovely, accommodating and very polite. We haven't needed to wait long for our food and tasted wonderfully.

Horrible Pasta. Ordered two take away pasta dishes and a garlic cheese pizza from Leo's last night. The pasta dish I ordered was supposed to be chicken, mushroom, semi-sundried tomato with a cream and pesto sauce. What I actually received had no tomatoes or pesto and was the driest 'creamy' pasta I have ever had. My partner's carbonara was also dry and lacked any flavour and the pizza had no garlic on it. In the end we threw it all out and ordered from elsewhere. I will never be ordering from here again.

Spaghetti marinara disappointment. Took my wife and children for a drive to "the famous Leos spaghetti bar ". Time was 5pm sat night,we pre ordered 2 serves of spaghetti marinara as we drove there, was about a 25 min drive for us.Anyhow I shall cut to the chase, after raving about how good their marinara was for years to my long suffering wife,we finally picked it up and began driving home,i couldn't wait till we got home so I thought I would have a small bite,,omfg the seafood was obviously frozen, the whole meal was a rubbery tasteless mess soaked in oil.Needless to say my wife couldn't control her laughter and proceeded to mercilessly humiliate me (all in good fun of course:( ). Upon arrival at home we immediately proceeded to dump both meals straight in the bin''the outside one of course "..nice waste of money..would have returned the food but petrol would have costed as much,,,,,Can someone post where I can get a nice spaghetti marinara please?

Friendly attentive staff. Tasty bolognaise with tortellini. Ice cream bar for kids. My husbands first tap beer was flat but was replaced without question. A few broken fixtures in the toilets need repair but otherwise pleasant.

What makes a slow service worse is bad customer service. Meal didn't come as fast as expected and they've forgotten to give the drinks. I have reminded them as soon as the food came but the drinks still didn't come so we ended up cancelling it but what makes it worse is telling us that we can't expect them made in just 5 minutes when we've ordered them with the meals to begin with? come on! there are many decent restaurants out there definitely not coming back.

Friend wasn't expecting a moth in his meal, staff didn't seen too fussed, out came another, needless to say we weren't that hungry anymore,

Great Value. My partner and I came to Leo's Spaghetti Bar after I had looked online for a reasonably priced place to eat out and we were not disappointed. Not only are the prices very reasonable, the meals are delicious and huge! The staff are friendly and attentive and their is a good family vibe going on. My partner and I had a pizza, two mains and three drinks from the bar each and all for just under $100. I am booking again for this weekend for a small group.

Average meal and pesky waiters that asked us to order 3 times when I was trying to have a catch up with my father who I hadn't seen in 4 months. Can't you read customers body language?? The food was fatty and salty, won't go back

Nomnom!. Went here with friends, wow! Ordered a Mexicana pizza, absolutely delicious! Portion sizes for everyone were large-money well spent for great tasting food! Everyone left well fed and content. Irish waitress was super attentive and welcoming to our group, would definitely go back!

Ace!. Went here with some friends and although hadn't heard of it before a few days ago, it was awesome!
service was second to none, food was promptly made and really nice too(though we only tried the pizzas as it was cheap night for pizzas - thurs thru sunday i think...?). portion sizes were huge too!

all round winner

enjoy!

Great food, prices and location. Very satisfied with service and price. Above all, Pizzas, all kind of Spaghetti and Cesar salad are one of the best in the town! Portions are big! Recommend to all to try!

Sunday dinner. Had dinner here with a few friends one random Sunday and it will be a regular haunt from now on. Service with a smile at the right price, not to mention the delicious food! Had the Leo's marina it was to die for! And the tiramisu is dangerous in good way!

Great Place. Had the porterhouse steak, it was highly impressive. Char-grilled, cooked exactly as I asked for (medium rare, just the right shade of red).
Service was outstanding - always with a smile! Will definitely go again!

Highly Impressive!. We went for dinner on Saturday evening and we were extremely impressed with this restaurant.
The service is excellent; very friendly and caring staff! The food was divine and the prices were extremely reasonable.
I had the Marinara Risotto and my partner had a steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Risotto was beautiful.

We will definitely be back!

I've seen better service at a shelter. An animal shelter. Would eat the food to survive...
