Their donuts are something else. I don't think I've had a better classic custard donut anywhere else in Melbourne - ever. It always is good. Always.
Friendly service, great baked goods and good coffee. I tried the plum danish and chocolate brioche. Danish was better choice. Want to go back to try more goodies!
If you’re after a sweet treat, then this is the perfect stop. Do not even leave this place without trying a bomolone - citrus custard donut sent from the heavens! Seriously so good.
Came here this morning for a takeaway coffee and a croissant for breakfast. Yum!
The coffee was great! And the croissant was perfect!
At first I thought it looked like it might be dry but it wasn't at all- gorgeous and soft in the middle.
I also got an olive tapenade bread that was new to the menu- I haven't had a chance to eat it yet though as it's for tonight! I will definitely be back, though!
One of my favourite bakery. Every single item is delicious! The Danishes and donuts are my staple when I drop by. You really can't go wrong with any sweet or savoury items.
Really good patisserie & coffee with lovely service... The bread is yummy & crusty 😋.
I had their freshly made egg sandwich with salad & sundried tomato. The bread was really nice. I also tried their brownie which was pretty spesh. Crumbly, melt in your mouth, not too sweet with the right amount of crunch from the walnut. It was a pretty amazing brownie. The only annoying thing about this bakery is, most of their stock is pretty much sold out by noon. So if you were not a morning person like me, good luck!
My favourite local bakery. The bread is as crispy as it needs to be without being too chewy. Worth while making the trip here even if you're not a local
Fruit loaf. So dense, so delicious. Staff are always lovely and can recommend a tasty snack.
This place has the triple threat factor: great bread, incredible sweets and interesting savoury bites. For those on the south side, I’m sure your well acquainted and if not, I give you your marching orders to their original shop (149 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda). Great place to start a summer picnic, get in early….
And to make sure the St Kilda trip could extend even when back at home in Kew, some Baker D. Chirico treats made it home with me for afternoon tea. Yum.
Simply the best bread in Victoria. Probably the best part of my day is walking here and choosing a loaf that takes my fancy. It's all good.
Carbohydrate goodness!. Love this place! Awesome fresh, delicious bread. Their bombolone is divine! Tried most things on the menu and nothing disappoints. Staff are lovely too. They don't skimp on quality and you get what you pay for. Otherwise there's an IGA close by selling $2 bread loaves if you want quantity
Often go here for lunch as products are great, sandwiches have tasty fillings, Danishes are delicious and coffee is very good. Shame about the consistently unfriendly service.
EASTER BREAK. I have found a bakery that serves decent coffee and the best hotcross bun in my memory, as I am soon to move into the area this is a bakery to savour.
One of the few truly great bread institutions in Melbourne
My boyfriend & I had a coffee and a frangipani & rhubarb tart and a bomboloni (custard donut). Coffee had a nutty flavour - donut and tart were delicious.
As good as San Francisco. San Fran, where we lived before immigrating to Australia, is known for its sourdough bread. D. Chirico could have taken that other City by the Bay by storm, because this St. Kilda joint has such a great range of sourdough products. (Most S.F. places just do white sourdough breads, and they tend to be tough-crusted.) D. Chirico is great at everything they make, including their desserts. The only gripe I have with them is that they sell out too fast. I can't count how many times I went there of an arvo only to find myself shut out from what I wanted to buy. The early bird gets the loaf, mates.
The bakery that stole my heart. Without out a doubt this place is worth crossing town for. The Lemon Brulee Tart has taken me places I have never gone before. The gorgeous fruit loaf is so packed with fruit, it is so heavy, buying this reduces the amount of guilt I feel when I order something sweet.
The bread is great, especially the pane do casa, but the highlight is the custard donuts! They are amazing, filled with the best vanilla custard.
Good bakery. Hot cross buns and challah are in. Coffee only so so.
Go early. My roast beef baguette was delicious though the mustard was runny, dripping onto the plate. Not much of a sweet selection left at 12.30 though the lemon brulee tart was a good runner up to the disappointment of no custard donuts.
I am inlove. Absolutely love this place, if I lived in St Kilda I'd be broke from excessive pastry buying!. The staff are upbeat and friendly, the service is good and I enjoy the quirky clothes the staff wear. Everything is of top quality and the coffee is a two order must. Thank god for BDC, never a disppointing moment here.
Best bread in Melbourne all the people working there are friendly, it makes a great morning cover spot Also just saying it's name is baker d chirico not chiri
One of Melbourne's best bakeries. Daniel Chirico's eponymously named bakery in Fitzroy Street St. Kilda is one of those wonderful bakeries where the delightful breads and delicious pastries are all cooked on site. The smell of fresh bread is so seductive as you go through the door and join the clamoring throng buying up $$$ worth of goodies. If you are in the area drop by for your daily bread or a tasty treat. It's no wonder that Chirico's breads feature on the tables of so many of Melbourne's best restaurants.
Well, if you want a Melbourne breakfast this is a delight! Outdoor seating on the sidewalk where you can bring your dog or your push bike and consume the most divine sweet pastries. A very busy, popular spot.
If you're in to bakery, this would be the place in St Kilda! Vast choice of pastry and do come early or they might ran out of your fav pastry. Thumbs up!
Excellent coffee, cakes and pastries are to die for!
Oft overlooked amazing coffees pair amazingly well with the pastries and breads that always exceed the expectations you have before entering. While there is room for one or two customers to have their spoils onsite, it's probably best to grab and go. Lots of places to people/nature watch nearby.
